- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome one and all, 406 in the afternoon, Wednesday, June 3rd,
- 0:05Speaker 1: 82 degrees. It's a gorgeous day. Hope you're enjoying it.
- 0:08Speaker 1: On News Radio 570, WKBN. I am most certainly enjoying it.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I'm inside the house right now. I can't enjoy it
- 0:17Speaker 2: that much if I'm in here.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Well, you can enjoy it by looking out the window.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It doesn't mean because you're inside you're not enjoying the day.
- 0:25Speaker 1: You can go out and enjoy it a little bit later.
- 0:27Speaker 1: It doesn't mean you have to be upset.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I would agree with you more if you agreed.
- 0:32Speaker 1: With me once in a while. Well, I don't agree
- 0:35Speaker 1: with you on this because..
- 0:36Speaker 2: I know you probably don't. You have your Ohio Edison bill.
- 0:43Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Just listen to me. Just hang on a second.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Okay, just hang on.
- 0:47Speaker 1: With all due respect... With all due respect..
- 0:54Speaker 2: I'm at 9.70 KWH.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Okay. Now, when you go home, you look at your bill,
- 1:06Speaker 2: and you look under usage information for meter number and
- 1:11Speaker 2: whatever your meter number is. You look under there and
- 1:15Speaker 2: see how many kilowatt hours you actually use for that month. Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Okay. And then get back to me, and then I'll
- 1:25Speaker 2: compare them with my 3,144 KWH, which was an actual
- 1:32Speaker 2: reading that I had. And we'll see how much usage
- 1:38Speaker 2: you had at that point. And you'll see why your
- 1:43Speaker 2: bill is high.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Well, I can honestly answer your question, and I'm going
- 1:50Speaker 1: to do it, and you can be quiet, and you
- 1:52Speaker 1: can either say whatever. But I'm going to go back
- 1:57Speaker 1: to this. Just bear with me for a second. I
- 2:00Speaker 1: am trying to let you know that there's ramifications to things,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and I know it might not be what you want
- 2:05Speaker 1: to hear. But here's why. Okay, once again, I can't
- 2:10Speaker 1: even get three sentences out. Just allow me to indulge me.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Just indulge me for a minute. To open your eyes.
- 2:21Speaker 1: The cost of electricity has gone up because of the
- 2:24Speaker 1: war on coal. Now, I can't make it... There's politics
- 2:28Speaker 1: involved because it was the green energy people. These people
- 2:31Speaker 1: were Obama... Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Biden, and that whole
- 2:38Speaker 1: contingent of people that said they're buying into this green
- 2:42Speaker 1: energy stuff. This war on coal that happened with Hillary
- 2:46Speaker 1: Clinton and Obama was very much a real thing. So
- 2:49Speaker 1: I'm not talking about China. I'm talking about right here
- 2:53Speaker 1: in the area that you live in. So what they did...
- 2:56Speaker 1: was they put regulations on coal plants because they wanted
- 3:01Speaker 1: to get rid of coal. So they regulated them out
- 3:05Speaker 1: of business. It didn't matter that the Samus plant had
- 3:08Speaker 1: the most modern technology and the scrubbers and all this stuff.
- 3:11Speaker 1: They wanted to regulate them so that they put them
- 3:14Speaker 1: right out of business. And they were successful in doing that.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And they made a law, a rule, that when you
- 3:21Speaker 1: closed it down, You had to tear it down because
- 3:25Speaker 1: they didn't want you to have the ability to turn
- 3:27Speaker 1: it back on. So this was the Obama-Clinton tenure. They
- 3:32Speaker 1: regulated it out. You had to tear it down. We
- 3:35Speaker 1: tore down perfectly good coal-producing plants, which would be very
- 3:40Speaker 1: expensive to build today. That was their goal. And they
- 3:43Speaker 1: didn't have anything to replace coal. the power generation of
- 3:48Speaker 1: that plant. They didn't think that through to say, well,
- 3:52Speaker 1: this is going to pick up that load. They didn't care.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It was a green energy deal. As a result of
- 3:57Speaker 1: moves like that, Just hear me out. As a result
- 4:01Speaker 1: of moves like that, and whether you like it or not,
- 4:04Speaker 1: Trump has stopped– the order from Trump now is you
- 4:08Speaker 1: cannot tear any of these coal plants down. But as
- 4:12Speaker 1: a result of tearing these plants down, not having anything
- 4:15Speaker 1: to replace it, the war on coal– That you then,
- 4:19Speaker 1: of course, demand going up with data centers and what
- 4:22Speaker 1: have you. The price of electricity has gone up because
- 4:26Speaker 1: you've created a supply and demand and a shortage issue
- 4:30Speaker 1: all at the same time because of this. Now, all
- 4:33Speaker 1: of a sudden, it's OK. Even these green energy people
- 4:37Speaker 1: like Bill Gates and that, now they realize that they
- 4:40Speaker 1: need these data centers and they'll make a ton of
- 4:42Speaker 1: money from it. These green energy people all of a
- 4:45Speaker 1: sudden are for coal plants. They're for nuclear power. They're
- 4:49Speaker 1: for fossil fuels because the people who were against it
- 4:52Speaker 1: are now for it because that's what they need to
- 4:55Speaker 1: run their facilities, whether it's Facebook or Google or whoever
- 5:01Speaker 1: it might be. I'm not making this stuff up. I'm
- 5:04Speaker 1: just saying if you take a look at it, that's
- 5:06Speaker 1: why you're paying more. I'm not any happier than you are.
- 5:10Speaker 1: My electric rate has doubled. That's why it has doubled.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And it very well will go up even higher because
- 5:19Speaker 1: the supply and demand issue continues. The bid on this
- 5:23Speaker 1: stuff continues to go up. My concern is I share
- 5:27Speaker 1: the concern with you. I am concerned about having affordable electricity.
- 5:32Speaker 1: utilities for people. I dwell on it every day that
- 5:36Speaker 1: you've listened. I am sitting here. I'm not screwing with you.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I'm genuinely, genuinely give a damn about even the people
- 5:44Speaker 1: who can't stand me, who get tired of me. I'm
- 5:47Speaker 1: here every day trying to do something that lower people's
- 5:50Speaker 1: property taxes. successfully getting some things done, every day trying
- 5:55Speaker 1: to point out why we have this problem so people
- 5:58Speaker 1: understand it, so they don't go voting for this stuff
- 6:00Speaker 1: in the future. There's ramifications to it. And John Kerry said,
- 6:05Speaker 1: the great John Kerry, the Democrat, he thought we should
- 6:08Speaker 1: live like they do in Europe, where they don't have
- 6:11Speaker 1: all this air conditioning and stuff. Of course, he wouldn't
- 6:14Speaker 1: live like that in his mansion. He was talking about
- 6:17Speaker 1: the rest of us, me and the rest of the
- 6:19Speaker 1: peasants out there, shouldn't have central air and enjoy the
- 6:23Speaker 1: comfort in our home. And they are reaching a point
- 6:26Speaker 1: by increasing these rates to where people will get electric
- 6:29Speaker 1: bills and think twice before they turn on their air conditioning.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Or instead of turning it on 72, we'll turn it
- 6:36Speaker 1: on 74 because it's so damn expensive. Now, I'm genuinely
- 6:41Speaker 1: concerned that people have affordable electricity and And I sit
- 6:44Speaker 1: here and I say this to you. I'm against these
- 6:47Speaker 1: people who want to shut the coal plants down because
- 6:49Speaker 1: at the same time, you can't put all your eggs
- 6:52Speaker 1: in one basket. So if they shut a coal plant down,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and let's say we have two natural gas plants now
- 6:57Speaker 1: in Lordstown. Anytime you build an energy plant that uses
- 7:02Speaker 1: natural gas, the demand for natural gas goes way up.
- 7:06Speaker 1: So you're going to catch a... Because you don't have
- 7:08Speaker 1: the diversity of hydro, nuclear, and coal... you're putting it
- 7:13Speaker 1: all on natural gas, you're going to get screwed with
- 7:15Speaker 1: high electric rates in addition to high natural gas rates.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So it'll cost you more to heat your house. It'll
- 7:22Speaker 1: cost you more to turn the lights on. And these
- 7:25Speaker 1: are basic necessities that are going up beyond a rate
- 7:28Speaker 1: that people can afford. I understand that, but I'm trying
- 7:31Speaker 1: to explain it to you why this has happened. And
- 7:35Speaker 1: I'm trying to say, If you listen to when Dave
- 7:38Speaker 1: Thomas is on, what are we what are they doing
- 7:41Speaker 1: to try to prevent this from getting worse? Oh, we've
- 7:45Speaker 1: we've changed the energy policy. So where they're making it
- 7:48Speaker 1: easier to build these plants and what have you. But
- 7:51Speaker 1: it takes years to build this stuff that we should
- 7:54Speaker 1: never rip down in the first place. I'm not trying
- 7:57Speaker 1: to be an ass with you. I'm not trying to
- 7:59Speaker 1: say it's all about politics, but in some cases, it
- 8:03Speaker 1: is about politics and bad decisions people have made. I
- 8:07Speaker 1: am man enough to sit here to you, and I
- 8:09Speaker 1: have respect for you. You know that. And say to you,
- 8:13Speaker 1: I support Trump. I voted for Trump three times. And
- 8:17Speaker 1: I think overall he's doing a decent job. But I
- 8:19Speaker 1: think Trump is dead ass wrong with this war in Iran.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And I think it was a major mistake from day one.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I think it's a giant mess and it could go,
- 8:29Speaker 1: it could cost us dearly as far as oil prices, gasoline, energy,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and inflation. But I won't cover his ass or act
- 8:38Speaker 1: like it didn't happen. As we go along, if it
- 8:41Speaker 1: gets worse in July and August, I'll put the blame
- 8:43Speaker 1: right at his feet for the decision he made because
- 8:48Speaker 1: he deserves that blame if it materializes like that. I'm
- 8:52Speaker 1: not going to sit here and say, oh, because I
- 8:53Speaker 1: voted for him or as a Republican, I can't do that.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 8:56Speaker 5: No.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I'm not a cheerleader. So you stay tuned. I'm critical
- 9:01Speaker 1: of Trump today and continue to be over this war
- 9:04Speaker 1: situation and the mess he got this country in. And
- 9:07Speaker 1: I don't think it's working out very good at the
- 9:11Speaker 1: present time. I hope I'm wrong when the dust settles.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I'm afraid that you can see an oil shortage. I'm
- 9:19Speaker 1: afraid that you can see more expensive oil. as we
- 9:24Speaker 1: get into June and July, to where it could go
- 9:28Speaker 1: well beyond $ 120 a barrel and put a hurt on everybody.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So I'm not going to be like you and say, well,
- 9:36Speaker 1: you can't make it about politics, because if that happens,
- 9:39Speaker 1: it is about politics. It's about what he did. I
- 9:43Speaker 1: rest my case, Your Honor.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Well, evidently, quite obviously, You have, I probably shouldn't have
- 9:56Speaker 2: brought it up in the first place. because you're very
- 10:00Speaker 2: well versed because you went on there for 10 minutes
- 10:04Speaker 2: about Ohio Edison and the energy and all this.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Just trying to let you know why prices went up.
- 10:09Speaker 1: That's all I'm trying to do.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Prices... I'm not an expert on it. I never was.
- 10:16Speaker 3: All I see..
- 10:20Speaker 2: The person that I am is that I see fraud, cheating, lying, deceitfulness.
- 10:30Speaker 2: I see it all in this administration and family. The
- 10:37Speaker 2: Republicans will not admit to it.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I admit to it.
- 10:40Speaker 2: That's what I'm trying to say. I just heard you
- 10:43Speaker 2: say about Trump and how you're—I get it. I understand.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Okay, have you listened to me?
- 10:49Speaker 2: The mags out there, they are going to believe until
- 10:53Speaker 2: the day they die. And the attack on the Capitol
- 10:57Speaker 2: was just a walk in the park.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Listen, listen for a second. I'm not a fan of DeWine.
- 11:07Speaker 2: If you agree to that, then I should probably not
- 11:11Speaker 2: even call your show. Seriously. Because, let me put it
- 11:17Speaker 2: this way.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Well, you keep going back on stuff. Listen, I am..
- 11:22Speaker 2: If you're not going to, if the Republican Party is
- 11:26Speaker 2: not going to live by the rules that the rest
- 11:30Speaker 2: of us live by... then I have to break the
- 11:33Speaker 2: rules to make sure you conform to the rules of
- 11:37Speaker 2: this country. Does that make any sense?
- 11:40Speaker 1: No.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Okay, well, think about it. Think about what I just said,
- 11:46Speaker 2: because it does. If you are going to, not you,
- 11:49Speaker 2: if the Republican Party is going to continue down the
- 11:52Speaker 2: path of lies, deceitfulness, and trying to run this country
- 11:58Speaker 2: with everybody under their thumb and turn it into a
- 12:01Speaker 2: third world nation, then I'm going to have to do something,
- 12:05Speaker 2: meaning the other side is going to have to do
- 12:09Speaker 2: something to make that party conform and get around to
- 12:13Speaker 2: what the laws and regulations that we have been used
- 12:16Speaker 2: to in this country for the past 250 years.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Are those laws that we're used to over 250 years,
- 12:26Speaker 1: laws about having men in women's locker rooms, are those
- 12:31Speaker 1: the laws you're referring to? No, are those the laws
- 12:35Speaker 1: that you talk about for 250 years that means an
- 12:38Speaker 1: open border and everybody can walk in? Are those the laws?
- 12:42Speaker 2: I bet you don't even know one person that is
- 12:47Speaker 2: LBGTQ or whatever it's called. I'll bet that you don't
- 12:51Speaker 2: even know one person that is gay.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Yes, I do.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Okay, so you do. But so what? That is not a...
- 13:01Speaker 2: You bring that up, that's just a talking point.
- 13:03Speaker 1: No, it's not a talking point.
- 13:05Speaker 2: The Democratic Party is siding in that direction.
- 13:08Speaker 1: They are. They are. They most certainly are.
- 13:13Speaker 2: You ask 95% of Democrats that same question, and they'll
- 13:17Speaker 2: say you're nuts.
- 13:18Speaker 1: They are the ones championing it with the whole nonsense.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I haven't heard anybody talk about that.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 13:27Speaker 1: In months. That is where the party is. They stand
- 13:31Speaker 1: for it today. They're the party of the transgenderism. They're
- 13:35Speaker 1: the party of you can wish yourself a woman. Men
- 13:38Speaker 1: can have babies. They can't even define a woman. You
- 13:42Speaker 1: put forth a candidate on the Supreme Court that won't
- 13:44Speaker 1: even answer what a woman is. They don't even want
- 13:47Speaker 1: to call a mother a mother. They don't want to
- 13:50Speaker 1: say boys and girls. That's your party. Suck it up.
- 13:55Speaker 1: That's your party. I can sit here and say to you,
- 14:01Speaker 1: you lack the ability. I can sit here and say
- 14:03Speaker 1: to you, I agree with the court that Trump's name
- 14:06Speaker 1: should have never been on the Kennedy Center. I can
- 14:08Speaker 1: sit here and say to you, I think this was
- 14:10Speaker 1: a mistake, Trump getting into this war. I can sit
- 14:13Speaker 1: here and say to you, there are things about Trump
- 14:16Speaker 1: that bother me when he turns on his fellow supporters
- 14:20Speaker 1: and some of the stuff that he does. Because I'm
- 14:23Speaker 1: not a cheerleader like you. I don't have blinders on
- 14:25Speaker 1: like you. I can criticize the guy I voted for,
- 14:28Speaker 1: even though I'd vote for him again, because overall I
- 14:31Speaker 1: agree with what he's doing. But I can sit here
- 14:32Speaker 1: and criticize the stuff I don't agree with. And if
- 14:35Speaker 1: he creates all this inflation, we'll certainly be talking about it.
- 14:39Speaker 1: But you lack the ability. You lack the ability to
- 14:42Speaker 1: admit your party is into the freaky social stuff. I
- 14:48Speaker 1: don't think I want to ask you anything more. I
- 14:50Speaker 1: think I've had enough of you. I don't want to
- 14:53Speaker 1: talk to you anymore.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yes, you do.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Maybe I do.
- 14:55Speaker 2: What else besides men can't have babies? No, they can't.
- 14:59Speaker 2: What else do you want me to say?
- 15:03Speaker 1: I'm just trying.
- 15:04Speaker 2: You are a staunch Democrat.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Yes, you are. You're a staunch Democrat. You go to
- 15:16Speaker 1: the No Kings rally. I am going to secretly send
- 15:25Speaker 1: the boss lady down undercover to the next No Kings rally.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I'm going to have her dress undercover to try to
- 15:31Speaker 1: film you at the No Kings rally.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Can I get paid.
- 15:34Speaker 1: To go there? Unfortunately, no, you actually went there on
- 15:45Speaker 1: your own, which is hard for me to imagine. I mean,
- 15:49Speaker 1: first of all, a guy your age driving is very
- 15:52Speaker 1: troubling to me. All right.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Well, you probably shouldn't be on the road. You should
- 15:59Speaker 1: probably be Ubering at your age. I'm sure when you
- 16:02Speaker 1: drove down there, I'm sure when you drove down there,
- 16:05Speaker 1: you drove 45 miles an hour in the left-hand lane
- 16:09Speaker 1: of the freeway. 45 miles an hour. All right. Have
- 16:11Speaker 1: a good day.
- 16:12Speaker 5: Bye.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Listening. Youngstown's News, Weather, and Talk Station. 570 WKBN. News
- 16:18Speaker 1: Radio 570 WKBN. We're on verb. All right. So we'll
- 16:24Speaker 1: do whatever. 424 in the afternoon. You're on the air.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, every time I listen to that guy,
- 16:34Speaker 3: I want to go to my utility drawer and pull
- 16:36Speaker 3: out some knives from him. That guy's pumped out, man.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know if it's Trump drinking or something,
- 16:44Speaker 3: but you're right. They destroyed our ability to make electricity.
- 16:50Speaker 3: And it is political because they did it. Obama, Clinton,
- 16:54Speaker 3: and the rest of before them, you know.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Don't forget O'Biden, as you call him.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I call him O'Biden because he's just following Obama's rules.
- 17:09Speaker 3: You know, he's like being counseled by him, you know? Yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 3: so anyhow, I was nice to hear, Denise. Very uplifting,
- 17:18Speaker 3: very positive. And I'm glad she's moving forward with her
- 17:23Speaker 3: eight counties, or nine counties, okay? And so, like I say,
- 17:32Speaker 3: the Guardians did great. They actually beat the Yankees, although
- 17:36Speaker 3: you didn't have their number one star, Andrew Bones. You
- 17:40Speaker 3: got a Bruce Bones.
- 17:43Speaker 6: So he was in it.
- 17:43Speaker 3: So they won 9-4, and they're playing tonight at 7.
- 17:47Speaker 3: The catcher's pitching tonight, Ron.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Who's pitching?
- 17:49Speaker 5: Gavin Williams.
- 17:51Speaker 7: What?
- 17:52Speaker 3: It's going to be a great game.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Well, it's enjoyable to listen to, and it's enjoyable to follow.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I mean, it really is.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Don't you love Tom Hamilton?
- 18:01Speaker 8: Yes.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yes, I do.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Oh, my God, man. Do you want to jump out
- 18:05Speaker 3: of your chair?
- 18:06Speaker 1: It just relaxes me. I mean, it just relaxes me,
- 18:10Speaker 1: which I need. It gives me a chance to just
- 18:12Speaker 1: listen to. him call a game, and I just find
- 18:19Speaker 1: it personally very relaxing and enjoyable.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Well, you know, after three hours of what you've got
- 18:23Speaker 3: to listen to, hell, I can't listen to anything anymore.
- 18:26Speaker 3: I turn it on, and I hear people talking. I'm like,
- 18:29Speaker 3: you've got to be kidding me.
- 18:31Speaker 6: I'm feeling really bad for you, Ron.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I shut it off, you know?
- 18:35Speaker 1: I'm glad you do. I'm glad you feel bad for me.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Somebody should feel bad for me.
- 18:39Speaker 3: I'm glad Hamilton gives you a boost.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely. And so do you, Baba Ganoush, just so
- 18:45Speaker 1: you know.
- 18:46Speaker 5: No, I don't.
- 18:47Speaker 3: You tell me that all the time. I know. Hey,
- 18:51Speaker 3: just like you know, Trump knows what he's doing. That's
- 18:59Speaker 3: all I've got to say. And I talk to people
- 19:01Speaker 3: that don't like Trump, that like Trump, and all of
- 19:05Speaker 3: them say, nobody knows what he's doing. I said, he
- 19:07Speaker 3: knows what he's doing.
- 19:09Speaker 6: Okay.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I just want to say that. So, Frank, I'm sorry, sir,
- 19:14Speaker 3: but you're stuck with it.
- 19:16Speaker 4: All right.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Thank you, Bubba Ganoush. Bubba Ganoush, you're on air.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Whoa.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Holy catfish.
- 19:24Speaker 6: I never heard anybody.
- 19:26Speaker 3: That guy was.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Something else, right? Oh, man.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Oh, boy.
- 19:32Speaker 1: That wasn't nice. Yeah, the Guardians did good. I agree
- 19:36Speaker 1: with Bubba Ganoush. You can't beat Tom Hamilton. No, you can't.
- 19:40Speaker 6: He's the best, isn't he?
- 19:40Speaker 1: Yes, he is the best. The best.
- 19:43Speaker 6: He is.
- 19:43Speaker 1: And it's good. I'm glad to see it. I'm glad
- 19:46Speaker 1: to see it. Well, and I'm better.
- 19:48Speaker 6: The Browns will be okay.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 19:51Speaker 8: Maybe.
- 19:51Speaker 1: But I'll still root for them. I know.
- 19:53Speaker 3: That's okay.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I know.
- 19:55Speaker 3: You know, you change things, and it's going to be okay,
- 19:59Speaker 3: I think.
- 20:00Speaker 5: At least, I believe.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Have a good day, buddy. Thank you. Here's Radio 570. WDKVN,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you're on the air. Hello, line three. You wouldn't know
- 20:13Speaker 1: what line you're on anyway. I do because I can
- 20:16Speaker 1: see it in front of me. You go back on hold.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Let's see here. You're on here. Hello. You got to
- 20:28Speaker 1: pay attention. You go back on hold. You're on here.
- 20:33Speaker 6: Ron, you are an artiste blood boiler.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I mean, it's a guru from Gerard. We'll come back
- 20:40Speaker 1: with him after the break at 430. He is the
- 20:43Speaker 1: guru from Gerard. Words of wisdom from Miguel coming up.
- 20:47Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKVN. The guru from Gerard.
- 20:48Speaker 9: Hello.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Hi.
- 20:57Speaker 6: I was just thinking, we're talking, you're listening to 570 WKB. Ron,
- 21:00Speaker 6: may I share a memory with you that was sparked
- 21:05Speaker 6: by your volley with Fifth Avenue?
- 21:08Speaker 1: Yes.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Which is why I called you a class, I mean,
- 21:10Speaker 6: you're a class act blood boiler.
- 21:12Speaker 10: Okay.
- 21:14Speaker 6: So this is about the week before Trump got elected
- 21:18Speaker 6: the second time. And as I did on the first one,
- 21:21Speaker 6: I had a feeling he was going to get elected
- 21:24Speaker 6: for the second time. And I'm sitting at my dining
- 21:27Speaker 6: room table. There are two college graduates in the area
- 21:32Speaker 6: of counseling and another brilliant student. And they're related to me.
- 21:40Speaker 6: Two out of three are related to me. And they're
- 21:42Speaker 6: having a conversation. as clear as day, like as serious
- 21:48Speaker 6: as it can be about what they're studying in school,
- 21:51Speaker 6: about how all these, like trying to justify what LBTQ
- 21:55Speaker 6: is and LBTQ plus. And, you know, and, and we
- 21:58Speaker 6: were actually, I was paying for this. Right. And, and then,
- 22:05Speaker 6: and by the way, this was at a time when
- 22:07Speaker 6: I was going through and being injected with all kinds
- 22:09Speaker 6: of drugs and everything. And as I'm listening to this,
- 22:11Speaker 6: I said to myself, Okay, God, I've seen enough.
- 22:14Speaker 4: I'm ready to go.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Okay?
- 22:17Speaker 6: I literally said that to myself.
- 22:18Speaker 8: Okay?
- 22:18Speaker 6: Which now I'm glad I didn't see. But I looked
- 22:21Speaker 6: at these kids and I said, I don't mean to
- 22:25Speaker 6: tell you what to do. Well, I said, what did
- 22:28Speaker 6: I say? Everything you're discussing right now is not going
- 22:32Speaker 6: to matter in a week. And sure as can be,
- 22:39Speaker 6: All of it just disappeared. For Fifth Avenue to say
- 22:43Speaker 6: that Democrats don't do that and didn't do that. I mean,
- 22:48Speaker 6: we've got a lot of people around here that are
- 22:50Speaker 6: like normal Democrats. They're not all like that. But all
- 22:54Speaker 6: those people in charge and the Democrats, that's all they
- 22:57Speaker 6: were doing and talking to people at the educational level.
- 22:59Speaker 6: And they were having huge impact. I mean, think about that.
- 23:02Speaker 6: They were teaching that to college educated people who are
- 23:05Speaker 6: going to be in charge of people. It was so
- 23:08Speaker 6: on the edge of being dangerous to our society that
- 23:13Speaker 6: I was just... I seriously said to myself, okay, God,
- 23:15Speaker 6: I've seen enough. I'm ready to go.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Really?
- 23:18Speaker 6: You reminded me of that.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Yes.
- 23:20Speaker 6: You reminded me of that as I was, like, listening
- 23:23Speaker 6: to him in denial about that. Now, I'm not saying
- 23:27Speaker 6: anything about anybody else or, you know, that nobody's at fault.
- 23:30Speaker 6: Like you said, if somebody's an idiot, I'll call them
- 23:33Speaker 6: an idiot if I think they're an idiot.
- 23:35Speaker 11: But..
- 23:36Speaker 6: That was just crazy dangerous to be brainwashing all of
- 23:41Speaker 6: our children and everything into this contrived stuff that is
- 23:47Speaker 6: so far from physical reality that it just made no
- 23:50Speaker 6: sense at all. It's almost like trying to get everybody
- 23:55Speaker 6: to use solar panels so the big corporations could actually
- 23:59Speaker 6: use all the energy that we make and we'd all
- 24:02Speaker 6: be stuck with the solar panels.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:08Speaker 6: You following me?
- 24:09Speaker 1: I'm listening to every word you're saying.
- 24:12Speaker 6: You know, I mean, it was crazy.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Do you remember that time period?
- 24:19Speaker 1: Absolutely, I remember it. I mean, it wasn't that long ago.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I mean, people have a hard time. Listen, as I've
- 24:28Speaker 1: said a million times, you know as well as anyone
- 24:30Speaker 1: who's a listener, I'm not here to cheerlead for anybody.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I don't care if they're Republican or Democrats. I think
- 24:36Speaker 1: DeWine is god-awful as a governor with the cover-up that's
- 24:39Speaker 1: going on with all of this fraud. When I talk,
- 24:43Speaker 1: do you think that because if you're a conservative that
- 24:46Speaker 1: I can make a justification for DeWine with the fraud
- 24:50Speaker 1: that's taking place and his lack of taking action on it?
- 24:54Speaker 1: Do you think I can support DeWine by giving a
- 24:56Speaker 1: sales tax break to the data centers? I think that
- 25:00Speaker 1: stuff's ridiculous. What, am I supposed to sit here and say, oh,
- 25:04Speaker 1: if you're a Republican, you better not criticize a Republican
- 25:06Speaker 1: for doing that type of asinine stuff? Or I'm not
- 25:09Speaker 1: supposed to sit here and criticize something that I disagree
- 25:12Speaker 1: with Trump on? Well, then you're a phony. Then you're
- 25:15Speaker 1: a fraud. Then you're nothing. Then I don't know what
- 25:17Speaker 1: the point is. I mean, I could disagree with Trump
- 25:20Speaker 1: on some issues, but I still think he's a far
- 25:22Speaker 1: better choice than anything the Democrats have. Far better. I mean,
- 25:26Speaker 1: I think the Republicans have better choices. I think Ron
- 25:30Speaker 1: DeSantis would make a great president. I think he's a
- 25:33Speaker 1: terrific governor. I think we just got more bench strength
- 25:36Speaker 1: in the Republican Party than the wackos in the Democrat
- 25:38Speaker 1: Party and their wacky agenda.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Period.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I mean, would I vote for Amy Acton for governor?
- 25:45Speaker 1: Absolutely not.
- 25:48Speaker 6: Do you know why I think Ron's verb should be
- 25:52Speaker 6: governor or senator?
- 25:53Speaker 11: Why?
- 25:53Speaker 6: I don't know if you remember our last conversation, but
- 25:57Speaker 6: you asked me if we should put the data centers
- 26:00Speaker 6: in right now, and I said no because they are
- 26:05Speaker 6: not collecting taxes from them. Do you remember that? I
- 26:09Speaker 6: don't know. A lot of people talk to you, but
- 26:11Speaker 6: that was my response. Do you know two days later,
- 26:14Speaker 6: the governor came out and revoked that and started saying
- 26:18Speaker 6: they were going to, I mean, do you think he listened?
- 26:23Speaker 6: I don't know, but that's, you're pretty powerful and you
- 26:27Speaker 6: don't realize it. And I think there's, so I would,
- 26:31Speaker 6: I would love to see you, you know, put down
- 26:33Speaker 6: the microphone just for that reason. I don't, other than that,
- 26:37Speaker 6: you can just stay here and drive us all crazy
- 26:38Speaker 6: for the rest of the night.
- 26:40Speaker 1: But listen, Michael, Michael, Time has ticked by. Listen, I
- 26:47Speaker 1: sincerely and greatly appreciate that. That means a lot coming
- 26:50Speaker 1: from you. But let me put it this way to you.
- 26:53Speaker 1: At 68 years of age. This is it. You know
- 26:59Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Are you kidding me? No.
- 27:01Speaker 5: You're a rookie.
- 27:02Speaker 1: You're like a honeymooner there.
- 27:05Speaker 3: No.
- 27:06Speaker 1: When I'm done, I'm done. At some point, life does
- 27:11Speaker 1: run out.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Think of how you could be corrupted, my friend, and
- 27:16Speaker 6: make so much money and change everything you think of.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Within a year. You'd be a totally different person.
- 27:23Speaker 6: Think of how you could do that. That'd be so fun.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I think that sometimes I look at, well, I just
- 27:30Speaker 1: appreciate that. I appreciate that a great deal. But if
- 27:35Speaker 1: I was a younger man, as they would say, that
- 27:37Speaker 1: would be a possibility. I told you when you were younger.
- 27:39Speaker 6: I said the same thing when you were younger.
- 27:41Speaker 4: You wouldn't listen.
- 27:42Speaker 10: You remember?
- 27:42Speaker 6: Some people talk to you, but I'll go back and
- 27:45Speaker 6: find the tape.
- 27:46Speaker 4: Can you please run?
- 27:48Speaker 6: I support you. I've said this I don't know how
- 27:49Speaker 6: many times.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I know. Come on.
- 27:51Speaker 6: There's not much time left.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Well, you would know better than anyone because you almost
- 27:55Speaker 1: faced the end, right? You never know.
- 27:56Speaker 5: What do they say?
- 27:56Speaker 4: God laughs when he hears you make plans. Every day counts, though.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Every day does count.
- 28:12Speaker 6: And you've got a few to get there. Come on,
- 28:14Speaker 6: promote G2. Get some signs going. And you'll get elected, Ron.
- 28:19Speaker 6: You will get elected. You'll be like that, what's his name,
- 28:22Speaker 6: the guy running for L.A.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Mayor.
- 28:24Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 28:25Speaker 5: You will be.
- 28:26Speaker 1: You will. Yeah. You know, you mean a lot to me,
- 28:30Speaker 1: and I appreciate it, buddy. I do. Did you get
- 28:33Speaker 1: the paint? Get the paintbrush and get busy.
- 28:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I've got a little more to do.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Hey, I'm glad you're still amongst us, all right?
- 28:44Speaker 6: Yep.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I appreciate it. The guru from Girard. Michael, thank you.
- 28:48Speaker 1: All right, let's see. You're on air. Ron? Yes?
- 28:57Speaker 5: How are you feeling today?
- 29:00Speaker 1: It's the boss lady on the end of the line.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I am fine. Thank you, boss lady. I am fine.
- 29:07Speaker 5: You're all fine, and you feel very relaxed today.
- 29:12Speaker 7: For a counseling session today, but you've dispatched me to
- 29:16Speaker 7: a no-things rally again.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I'm just saying, Fifth Avenue goes... Yeah, you would have
- 29:25Speaker 1: to be like in a camouflage outfit. You'd have to
- 29:28Speaker 1: go undercover. And he's got a very distinguishable voice, and
- 29:32Speaker 1: we know he's an older guy. And you would have
- 29:36Speaker 1: to try to track him down and then throw instructions.
- 29:40Speaker 1: net over him and take him for counseling.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Can't we get JJ to do this?
- 29:47Speaker 1: Unfortunately, probably we could, but that's probably not..
- 29:51Speaker 5: We probably could. JJ, help me.
- 29:53Speaker 8: Right.
- 29:53Speaker 5: Can't you do this for me?
- 29:54Speaker 1: That's... We'll let it slide. We'll let it slide. But
- 30:00Speaker 1: who knows?
- 30:02Speaker 5: We are going to be collecting signatures. I will be
- 30:05Speaker 5: with Mark collecting signatures at Four Seasons on Sunday. So
- 30:11Speaker 5: if anybody has not signed up to participate yet.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Four Seasons flea market?
- 30:16Speaker 5: Yep, at the flea market.
- 30:17Speaker 1: What's up with all of these people going to these
- 30:19Speaker 1: flea markets? They're packed. Really?
- 30:23Speaker 5: Well, I like to go. I forget about it, honestly.
- 30:26Speaker 5: But then when Mark brought it up to me, I
- 30:29Speaker 5: was like, well, yeah, of course we need to go back.
- 30:32Speaker 6: But they're packed.
- 30:33Speaker 5: I like to get my fruit and vegetables from there.
- 30:36Speaker 1: This is the weirdness. I mean, you know, I got
- 30:39Speaker 1: to say that I've never had some desire to go
- 30:41Speaker 1: to a flea market. But yet, whenever my wife says, hey,
- 30:44Speaker 1: you want to go to Meijer with me, I always say, absolutely.
- 30:47Speaker 1: And I'm like in the Austintown Meijer store, I'm like,
- 30:51Speaker 1: I'm loving this. Loving this.
- 30:52Speaker 5: That's where people can spot you.
- 30:55Speaker 7: You just need to stand inside my room and wait
- 30:57Speaker 7: in the vegetable section?
- 30:59Speaker 1: No, because, yeah, because I keep on going like a
- 31:02Speaker 1: bullet because the problem, well, the problem, yeah, I just
- 31:05Speaker 1: go in and get what, I just follow her and
- 31:08Speaker 1: just say, okay, can I get this? What do you
- 31:10Speaker 1: think about this? What do you think about that? No, no, no, no.
- 31:14Speaker 1: You're like a little kid in a store is what
- 31:16Speaker 1: I hear.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Well, you can't get any Dr.
- 31:19Speaker 6: Pepper.
- 31:19Speaker 1: No, I'm off the pop altogether.
- 31:22Speaker 7: Well, no, you're not in the pop section.
- 31:24Speaker 1: No, I tell everybody. Now, she gets upset. See, folks,
- 31:28Speaker 1: I go, here's my M.O. When I go to Meijer,
- 31:33Speaker 1: I go in the door in Austintown, and I go
- 31:35Speaker 1: directly to the back wall. I now, my wife thinks
- 31:38Speaker 1: it's insane, I buy... Pre-made, unsweetened iced tea that is
- 31:44Speaker 1: just filtered water and tea. That's the only ingredients in it.
- 31:48Speaker 1: It's made by– you buy a gallon of it. It's
- 31:51Speaker 1: from Milo's. It's in the back cooler.
- 31:53Speaker 6: I've had it.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Milo's. And I go right to the back. I grab
- 31:57Speaker 1: one or two of those. And they were $ 4 a gallon.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Now it's $ 4. 20, the inflation.
- 32:03Speaker 8: Okay.
- 32:03Speaker 1: It's going up to $ 4.
- 32:04Speaker 2: 20.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You're allowed to get that.
- 32:07Speaker 7: Right.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I get that because I don't drink any pop anymore.
- 32:12Speaker 1: And she says to me, you know, I make iced tea,
- 32:15Speaker 1: and I could make that for 50 cents. And I said, yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 1: but I'd rather buy it here in this jug. And
- 32:22Speaker 1: I just like the taste of it. And that's it.
- 32:24Speaker 1: You know what I mean? This is what happens. This
- 32:27Speaker 1: is like you going to the flea markets. in Four
- 32:32Speaker 1: Seasons Flea Markets. You can see live and in person
- 32:36Speaker 1: the boss lady. When is that going to be, Sunday?
- 32:39Speaker 5: Sunday, 9 to noon. Yep, we'll be there to collect signatures.
- 32:44Speaker 5: And I think somebody, did Denise call in and say
- 32:47Speaker 5: about the announcement on Friday? Okay. Yeah, so we'll learn
- 32:50Speaker 5: on Friday. We're just going to keep going until we're
- 32:53Speaker 5: told to stop. In case we don't have the number,
- 32:55Speaker 5: we'll just keep collecting.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Sunday, June 7th, 9 to noon. You will find us
- 33:01Speaker 5: at the Four Seasons Flea Market if you want to sign.
- 33:03Speaker 5: You can sign from any county. So we can collect
- 33:06Speaker 5: and take your signatures, whether you're from Mahoning County, Trumbull County, Columbia.
- 33:10Speaker 5: It doesn't matter what county you're in as long as
- 33:11Speaker 5: you haven't signed before. And you're registered to vote.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Why don't you set up a little stand there and
- 33:18Speaker 1: sell some homemade blankets that you knitted together or something?
- 33:23Speaker 5: I don't knit, Ron.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Okay, here's another one. Celebrate your Italian heritage and have
- 33:31Speaker 1: a spaghetti stand right there.
- 33:33Speaker 5: Oh, that's too much work, Ron.
- 33:35Speaker 1: That's a lot of work. All right. I'm running out
- 33:37Speaker 1: of ideas, folks.
- 33:39Speaker 5: I can't... I don't want to do... Now, we're just
- 33:41Speaker 5: going to do some signatures. I'll say, hi.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Hi.
- 33:44Speaker 5: Do you want to sign our petition? And hopefully, people
- 33:47Speaker 5: will sign. I mean, Denise has done such a great
- 33:49Speaker 5: job in Mahoning County. We don't... But the point is,
- 33:52Speaker 5: is you can sign from every county, and they do
- 33:54Speaker 5: get a lot of traffic from elsewhere. Like, people come
- 33:56Speaker 5: out from everywhere.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Now, why is it... I really admire Denise and all
- 34:01Speaker 1: she's done, so I admire you and all you're doing.
- 34:03Speaker 6: Why?
- 34:03Speaker 1: And now you're going to take a Sunday afternoon and
- 34:06Speaker 1: you're going to go spend three or four hours doing that.
- 34:08Speaker 1: What motivates you to do something like that? I mean,
- 34:11Speaker 1: to give up your time to go say, I'm going
- 34:13Speaker 1: to go do this.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Well, I mean, if we don't do it, who's going
- 34:16Speaker 5: to do it, right? I mean, there's only a handful
- 34:18Speaker 5: of people that are willing to do it. And we
- 34:20Speaker 5: want it to volish. We want it to volish because
- 34:23Speaker 5: we know we can... pay for it another way. And
- 34:26Speaker 5: we know that it's not a money problem. It's a
- 34:28Speaker 5: spending problem and a fraud problem.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Now, do you think you'll ever run for an office?
- 34:36Speaker 1: Do you think, because like I sit here and I say, well,
- 34:38Speaker 1: she should run for commissioner. I mean, I think you
- 34:41Speaker 1: do a really good job. I'm not saying that you
- 34:44Speaker 1: quit your job that you have and I wouldn't want
- 34:48Speaker 1: you to do that because obviously you're doing well, but
- 34:51Speaker 1: I mean, you could quit it down the line, but
- 34:53Speaker 1: I mean, what did you ever, you should give that
- 34:56Speaker 1: some consideration. I think you would do a really good job.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of Richard pharmacist. I'd be a
- 35:02Speaker 1: big fan of, of the boss lady. I would, I
- 35:07Speaker 1: would love to see, uh, well, G2, he'd have to
- 35:10Speaker 1: be president. He couldn't be anything lower than that.
- 35:12Speaker 7: But, uh, We could make him president.
- 35:19Speaker 1: But that would mean he would have to come out
- 35:21Speaker 1: of his secret bunker and is on disclosed location. I
- 35:24Speaker 1: think he'd be very uncomfortable with that. But yeah, you
- 35:29Speaker 1: should give it some consideration. When all these people talk,
- 35:34Speaker 1: you still got a few good years left.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, I've thought about it. What's hard for
- 35:42Speaker 5: me is I don't like all the..
- 35:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 35:45Speaker 5: I don't like all the.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Party schmoozing, the this and then that, right?
- 35:49Speaker 5: And that's, I would want just grassroots support.
- 35:53Speaker 1: You don't want the phoniness of it. Like, you see
- 35:56Speaker 1: all these people.
- 35:57Speaker 5: I hate that dog and pony show. I just can't
- 35:59Speaker 5: get into it. And I have to be passionate, enthusiastic
- 36:03Speaker 5: about it. That part is just so unattractive to me.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I'm in total agreement with you. Have you noticed when,
- 36:11Speaker 1: with the last primary, you see all these people, hey,
- 36:13Speaker 1: I'm down here at this event that I normally would
- 36:16Speaker 1: never be at, but I'm here acting like I'm loving
- 36:18Speaker 1: it here because I'm trying to get these people to
- 36:20Speaker 1: vote for me. Once you get elected, you never go
- 36:22Speaker 1: back to it unless it's time to get reelected. Stand by.
- 36:26Speaker 1: It's the boss lady on NewsRadio 570.
- 36:29Speaker 8: 452.
- 36:29Speaker 1: I'll get back to her right after this. News Radio
- 36:35Speaker 1: 570 WKBN. See, boss lady, I agree with you. All
- 36:39Speaker 1: of the nonsense, like I said in the last primary,
- 36:41Speaker 1: you see these people. I'm at this meeting. I never
- 36:43Speaker 1: go here, but I'm going here because I'm running for
- 36:45Speaker 1: office and I want to act like I want to
- 36:48Speaker 1: be here and get these people to vote for me.
- 36:50Speaker 1: And then they would never go there if they weren't
- 36:53Speaker 1: running for office. There's a phoniness about it all.
- 36:56Speaker 7: And there is so unattractive and it's just so phony fake.
- 37:01Speaker 5: And obviously I'm, I'm just very real and very down
- 37:04Speaker 5: to earth. I approach business the same way. I talk
- 37:06Speaker 5: to my employees the same way. And I don't know if,
- 37:10Speaker 5: you know, I could, I'm ready. I could be ready.
- 37:12Speaker 5: I could do those roles, but I don't know if
- 37:17Speaker 5: the County is ready for what I would bring.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 37:21Speaker 3: And that would be the concern.
- 37:24Speaker 5: I'd be interested. But my focus has been on, you know, budgeting, taxpayers,
- 37:29Speaker 5: just common sense, day-to-day government. So it's really not about me.
- 37:35Speaker 5: It's really about whether the people of the county are
- 37:37Speaker 5: ready for that kind of leadership and approach.
- 37:39Speaker 7: And sometimes I think they are.
- 37:41Speaker 5: But a lot of times I think they're not.
- 37:44Speaker 7: Because then you look at some of the ways that
- 37:46Speaker 7: they're voting on.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 37:49Speaker 5: So, you know.
- 37:51Speaker 1: No, you're 100% right. But, see, that's real. What you
- 37:54Speaker 1: said is absolutely real. I mean, I would almost snicker
- 37:59Speaker 1: at these people acting like they're happy to be at
- 38:01Speaker 1: these gatherings. And I thought, once again, you're there because
- 38:03Speaker 1: you're seeking votes. You'd not be there if you weren't
- 38:05Speaker 1: running for office. Everybody's great. What a great gathering and
- 38:09Speaker 1: this kind of stuff. And it's just like a popularity contest. So, no,
- 38:15Speaker 1: I'm with you 100%. But even if you didn't go
- 38:18Speaker 1: to the fish fry, I would still vote for you,
- 38:21Speaker 1: just so you know. Thank you.
- 38:24Speaker 5: I appreciate that.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Thank you, boss lady.
- 38:26Speaker 7: Sorry, Ron.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Have a good night. I think she'd do an excellent job.
- 38:29Speaker 1: There's some people, when you talk to them, you say, boy,
- 38:32Speaker 1: they'd do a really good job. But they don't like
- 38:36Speaker 1: some of the nonsense of politics, too. And I get it.
- 38:41Speaker 1: I get it. All right. Don't touch that dial. Ron
- 38:44Speaker 1: Furb from the Kingdom of Mahoning. More to come.
- 38:52Speaker 10: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen. President Trump maintains that
- 38:56Speaker 10: Iran wants to finalize a deal even as the Pentagon
- 38:59Speaker 10: confirmed it shot down Iranian drones attempting to attack U.S.
- 39:03Speaker 10: forces in Kuwait. The president brushing off concerns it could
- 39:06Speaker 10: jeopardize the ceasefire.
- 39:07Speaker 1: I'd say in that part of the world, ceasefires when
- 39:09Speaker 1: you're shooting. in a more moderate manner.
- 39:12Speaker 10: ABC's Selena Wang has more on rising tensions and a
- 39:15Speaker 10: war that is dragging into a fourth month.
- 39:17Speaker 9: The president said this was going to be a four
- 39:19Speaker 9: to six week war. We have way blown past that deadline.
- 39:22Speaker 9: We're in this tenuous ceasefire.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Yet the U.S.
- 39:25Speaker 9: And Iran continue to exchange fire, not to mention the
- 39:28Speaker 9: president for weeks now has been saying that we're close
- 39:31Speaker 9: to a deal with Iran. But we have seen lots
- 39:33Speaker 9: of whiplash starts and stops.
- 39:35Speaker 10: Primary races across states yesterday, including California, results for the
- 39:40Speaker 10: top two candidates in the mayoral race in L.A. are
- 39:43Speaker 10: still being tallied. ABC's political director Avery Harper has more.
- 39:46Speaker 11: When you look at the vote count, and at last check,
- 39:50Speaker 11: Karen Bass was at about 35% of the vote. Spencer
- 39:53Speaker 11: Pratt was just behind her at about 30%. And then
- 39:55Speaker 11: that progressive councilwoman, Nithya Raman, she was at about 22
- 39:59Speaker 11: percent of the vote. There's a little bit of a
- 40:01Speaker 11: quirk in California in that votes will still be counted
- 40:04Speaker 11: as long as they are postmarked by Election Day and
- 40:07Speaker 11: they are received within seven days of Election Day. So
- 40:10Speaker 11: it could be a while before we actually know who
- 40:12Speaker 11: is going to go up against Karen Bass.
- 40:14Speaker 10: The governor's race is also still undecided in that state.
- 40:18Speaker 10: New details in the hours-long standoff at a bank in Bakersfield, California,
- 40:22Speaker 10: that ended in the death of a suspect who said
- 40:24Speaker 10: he had a bomb. FBI Special Agent in Charge Sid
- 40:27Speaker 10: Patel identifying the suspect as Anthony Scott Searles Harris.
- 40:30Speaker 8: He was no stranger to law enforcement and has a
- 40:32Speaker 8: criminal history of using weapons to commit violent offenses. In 2014,
- 40:38Speaker 8: he was charged with sex acts with a child under 14.
- 40:42Speaker 8: He's a registered sex offender.
- 40:43Speaker 10: Police say the 10 hostages were released unharmed. You're listening
- 40:47Speaker 10: to ABC News.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Hot sauce.
