Transcript
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: Hi folks, welcome to the episode of Film Study.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: This is Kendrick Houston.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's time for this week's Friday morning GM with my co-host Vastal Rico's Vastal Edoan.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: Life is good, Ken.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Look forward to the pre-season finale, I guess it's realistic to it tonight.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: And then the 53, always a very exciting time here.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're going to spend a lot of time on the 53.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's what these episodes are going to be about centrally today.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to talk about the offense in the first one.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: We have some other things we need to talk about, though, which is a current injury status of the Ravens before we get to that.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of, it's getting a longer list of things, but considering the fact that it's six PUP players, all of whom are off PUP now, at the beginning of camp, I think they've come a long way in a very positive way actually since the beginning of camp, which is that's an unusual direction.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: You don't usually get healthier through camp.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: You usually get less healthy.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely true.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the big loss is the anti-penter obviously lost for the season, Jesse Mentor did confirm.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a tough blow for him personally.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: Fortunately, it does seem that the Ravens do have two pretty solid options in Pocic and Gwynn.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree and I think we'll talk about that a little bit.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: And now this I think in a way brings Cory Bullock back into the picture in terms of exactly what his status is on the fringe of this roster here, or it's the top of the practice quality either one, but I think he's become so much more important player to the Ravens.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: Chuck West Robinson, he's been out for a while now at Camp, but he's he got moved to IR as well.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, one of the downsides is that Nameda Mata BK was off PUP the very first day of training camp and that was July 29.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: So we're talking four weeks ago at this point.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: He did his first sled work this week.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's the first time he's hit a sled.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Other thing I've spent strength and conditioning stuff, mentor was asked about it recently in interview and he had to acknowledge the fact that he might not be ready to start the season.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: I would take an admission like that, Rudy seriously in terms of a reduced likelihood of him being on the 53 to start the season.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, Ross, we need to kind of agree, but what it means to be on the 53.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: What it means to be on the 53, I think is after all the handshake deals are good.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, right.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: I would have been with that.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: I was gonna say the same.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or might be gay, you know, it is good that he is having a slif finally, we've been begging for that for three weeks, it seems.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: I would say at the pace of this ramp up, it is unlikely, and I think he's probably going to be an IRDTR, and
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to hope for maybe a mid-season or half to the first month or so, for him to bolster the roster at that point, which isn't a terrible idea, really, it's a little bit of a soft start to the schedule.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: The defense allows a little crowded and to serious injury, so be cautious.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: I really, I am very cautious about leaning too hard on the soft part of the schedule.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: The ribs have a bunch of weaknesses that they're dealing with right now.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive line has not got newty to it yet, that I think they're ready to roll, even here it's a relatively weak set of opponents.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm be concerned about that.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a good football team.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think the defense is showing up in the way we really hope the defense would show up.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: through two preseason games and what they just did to dismantle the commanders in this last practice here, all very good.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm very concerned about, you know, used to be Buffalo was the team you would play.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: And now I'm talking about 12 years ago, you know, 14 years ago that that was a really weak team you'd play on this schedule.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a problem.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's Buffalo which would just sit everyone this week kind of thing.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: This is these R&FL teams, the three of us are going to be playing, I think they'll play the Colts on the road on the immediately fearful of the game in a certain way.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a great Colts team, but it's also a team that always seems to play pretty well against the Ravens, and so I'm a little bit concerned about that.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: I do think midseason replacements have been something that have worked for the DeCosta Ravens in terms of being able to set yourself up with a really an extended roster of 55,
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think the emergence of people, so I thought it was very strong, outing in the last pre-season game, makes me to be gay, you know, absence, potential absence a little bit more palatable.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: And for what it's worth, I did look at draft games today, I was looking at some futures just to see where they were, had looked at a while.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: Rams are heavy, heavy, suitable favorite at plus 550, but the Ravens are tied with the bills or second place or plus 1,000.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so Vegas looks the Ravens.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a reasonable price.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: One chance in 11 to win it, wouldn't it?
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: I would hope for higher, but they're in good shape in the AFC.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: They must really have a low probability of the AFC in general winning the Super Bowl this year.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: So that's interesting.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: They're ahead of the C-Lux, why would we have to be trying to repeat so long?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: The C-Lux are plus 1300, I believe.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: in the same division of course with the Rams that makes it that much more difficult.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's talk about some of the other PUP players, some of the other injury statuses.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: Teddy, if you can, and off PUP, a full go on positional drills, I did not actually see.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: I watched the defense and I did not see him in there versus the red skids versus the commanders.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get that right.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: However, he's at least been full-go on positional drills.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's hidden in this lead.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Looks like he's ready to play and he may have played.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: I may have just missed it.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: He may have gotten staffs at some point.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't expect him to be a guy who would play in the preseason finale against the commanders, I expect him to sit.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so yeah, he seems his recovery is more linear, right?
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of just going at the trajectory that you will imagine after knee injury, you get back on the field, you do position work, you may be part of some.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: And there is a bit longer break between the 53 and the open of this year than a last year I believe.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: by two days because it's usually a Tuesday that they had cut down day and now it's Sunday.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, it'll be exactly two weeks between the two.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and opportunity to do a couple other things that, you know, we're in, I haven't been doing for a while.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: We've been putting on unbelievable amount of content this month.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: I've been looking forward to that break, actually.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: But we do have, you know, a little bit of extra time, and I'm sure we're going to be
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's the 14th or 15th right in that range, I don't know where I am right here, but all those days I'll be at you.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: Humphrey and Wiggins are both back.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: That was an enormous scare ofverted.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Frankly, they appear to be very significant injuries.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: I almost think as that is the most positive injury outcome that we've had this entire camp.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: Good to be.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: We got a few minor injuries now.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: We got to deal with.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: So Zion Young and Zay Flowers both set out the practice against the commanders.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: They are focused on week one health.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: As mentor put it, neither of them is going to play obviously in the final preseason game.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: Wouldn't be obvious because Zion Young did play in both games so far and played until almost the end of the game, both times.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: But they're not planned again.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: They're obviously going to sit those guys after they set this week.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: According to Jeff, they were both on the side field doing work, which means they're not in terrible shape where they, you know, have to, can't even get on the field that that does not seem to be the case with the next player on the list.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: uh... note ballacona uh... missed the joint practice as well uh... certainly is very unlikely to play the preseason finale this is this is that the midter syntax i'm not sure if you'll get to it if you'll be able to be back for the for the game or not is kind of the way he put it so if that's the way then i look at the that the mattabica thing and i have to say well that's that's means no way in hell for week one for mattabica because it's basically the same pretty good comedies making
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but anyway, I think there is a chance that we end up with Balakone also as an IRDTR to start the year.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: I had the same exact thought that an expressly been a position where they like to kind of snatch a body when I are.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: And that's another position where there's want to keep one, maybe one or two extra, the young guys around, so it gives you an opportunity to do so.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I would say those are the most likely I already do the Arts of Medit BK and Konai.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm with you exactly on that.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: One other guy we didn't mention, a rushing Oli is back this week.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: I do expect him to play against the commanders.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think that'll be a real opportunity for him.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I think, you know, it could go a couple of ways.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is about a 10% chance.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Demonstrate is value to the ravens in such a way that it would actually change how they would construct the 25 on offense and that's something we're going to talk about next, but I don't believe I think they've probably made up their mind whatever it is third quarterback tent offensive lineman fourth running back, you know, they got multiple choices here or use a spot of defenses you've suggested really all of those are out there as as options, but rushing all the is on the bubble.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: And sure, I thought he's frankly, I didn't think he owned this by the last season and entering this preseason, I didn't, and then he missed time with injury.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think what he offers is a kickoff return man is anything special enough to RF 53.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I agree with you.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think that one thing that Ali was maybe a little bit better than I expected last year as a past blocker.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: And he had a couple of flashes.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: This team has been terrible this preseason that every single running back has been absolutely steamrolled.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I would do want to see Adam Randall in particular get some past blocking time in this finale.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's he's he's key for that.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: But Ali also would make sense.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's a game where you showcase them.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: You're trying to figure out, is there a guy?
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: The commanders report the R1 team that also needs an interior defensive lineman, so it might be a chance for other showcases as well.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, for sure.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: And that's often the trade.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of times, he trades when they go and against each other, because he's very misapplier.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, very much.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: The inside linebacker situation, absolutely mess right now, injuries to Jamon Johnson, Carl Jones, Jamon Johnson got hurt during the second game against the Vikings, he very early tense snap or so.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: Carl Jones was, he's been out for a while now, he hasn't been back.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know the term of those in either case.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think Jamon Johnson is like a thumb injury.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: I did hear that Jones was working on the sidefield as well.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you wouldn't have said it also, but at least that's a sign of the right direction.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, good to hear.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: So that was from the joint practice, the Jeff would have noticed him on a side, but somebody would have guessed.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: We definitely saw both flowers and Zion young.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: I can test both of them and did not notice Carl Jones.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and then Reed Willoughford was heard against the Vikings also, and what we think was the first special team staff.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, that's he's got one listed special team staff.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he didn't play, but he might have been heard on the opening kickoff, and that just leaves him extremely short-handed just to get through this last preseason game.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: So they signed the X-Missioning Player Michael Barrett who played there in 23, I believe.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: uh... bop it around practice wise he's played right around a hundred total preseason staffs and zero regular season staffs so yeah uh... you know just to get through the game really he had a should know the scheme he played he played on her mentor before i was surprised he jiggins out there in preseason game two after the concussion i guess they just need the bodies uh... you know it to me it's not a concern the top four think a pretty we'll get to it but locked in but you just need some debt to get you to game
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: But Higgins is part of that top four and I was I was shocked to see him out there after the concussion I was shocked to see him and they had that this guy apparently were healthy at the beginning of the game So they could have gone with Willaford and Jamon Johnson and had them be the you know that the Additions to Deluca and then they they put Jamon Johnson out there after Willaford already been hurt So they had four he gets hurt and then they had to they had to reinsert Higgins for the rest of the game You played 60 snacks.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean it's just right
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: Terrible.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: Not great.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Cluster injuries.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want the clusters of the same position.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: You do not want that.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, this week Trent and Simpson was at the podium.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: I asked him if the coaches had come to him about dressing for the game.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: He goes, no, they didn't.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: But I'd have been happy to do it.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of think it's great.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Great to hear him say that.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: I saw some good highlights for him for his own practice.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: He's too in coverage.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: So up.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: I've been excited about him all season.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he had good 11 11 coverage and he had good one on one coverage as well, too, which is nice seat.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, the one on one pass for us results, we've just dominated that drill in a way you would just really hope for.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm excited about this defense.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: No question about it.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: We'll take a break and we'll come right back and we'll go down our offensive 53 in just a moment.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: Hey folks, we're back again and we were going to talk about the offensive 53 man roster and just that exciting time of the year of us and one of you starts on what do you want to do?
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: Position by position thing here and then we'll start.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: We'll go position.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: So let's start with the quarterback, you know, the most important position from the team.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: We're more Jackson.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: I have him making the team this year and probably Joe Fognano has showed well.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: I would say there's maybe a 15% chance, 20% chance they carry him, but at the end of the day, I think he's going to be on the practice ward or potentially trade bait, that's where I landed.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: I definitely thought about keeping three, but I didn't end up holding the trigger.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so you know me well because that's exactly the question I'm going to ask you is how would you handicap it in terms of percentage of him being on the team I I understand the fact that he has outplayed Huntley in this preseason in some ways Huntley has been very good and was especially against Minnesota at
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: escaping to keep the Ravens alive, early in that football game, escape to safety, escape multiple sex.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: There's a whole bunch of zero R's on my offensive line, scoresheet from this game, which means he ran somebody out of a pressure, and they did get a negative score because of it, but they get a negative adjustment.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, it wasn't a comfortable game for him, but he exceeded expectations.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Faniano came in with great thing about Faniano this preseason is he stood in against the rush, and he's delivered the football.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: very impressive in that regard.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's a characteristic that is good in terms of helping your passer rating and it's bad in terms of staying on the football field.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: If it does come to the fact where the Ravens need him.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: But could you see a team like Cleveland who apparently decided they're going to start the Sean Watson again?
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what do they think?
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: I guess Sanders is first, you know?
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: Or I don't know what their owner said.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: We got all this point tied up.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: But I think there's maybe another 15% chance.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody does part with a six round pick for maybe.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so trading him.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the reasons have some trade candidates.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't put Fanyano among them.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: What I would say is Fanyano is a player.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: who I think they'll try and move through to the practice squad.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think the ravens have to really something to sell Fagnano and saying, look, the Mars going down several times in the last five years.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: If it happens again, we're gonna go to Huntley, but we're not gonna be long waiting with our each of your trigger figures to pull Huntley out of there.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: If we've got you sitting on the practice squad and the first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna bring up to the 53 if we put Lamar and I are.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: And the second thing is, you've got a real chance to be in case.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: Once he has that speech given to him, then I think he's likely to accept the Ravens practice quite often as opposed to somebody else's.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll have to be then a claim that would get him.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I just don't see that happening.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think every NFL team pretty much has a backup quarter back.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: They like as much or more than Fannyano.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: And there may be somebody out there who doesn't, or they may like you said,
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so we should also just say we're doing this before the last preseason game.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: So there could be some movement depending on Sure somebody could somebody could really flash so anyway, but that's I'm going with a two quarterbacks I know songer thinking he's played too well in the preseason to keep off the team I still think snoop is your best bet for continuity and he hasn't necessarily picked up new offense as well as Fagnano, but though I guess it's a slurney curve form
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm with the entirely, and I'd say maybe 10% that Fanyano is a guy that keeps the third guy in the roster.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: They'd have to feel some pressure.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they'd have to get a number of trade calls about them that was indicative that a claim was about to be made if they just caught them kind of thing for that to happen.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't really see it.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: Would you hide them a little bit in pre-season week three?
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's any more hiding to do.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's played well in two games.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's true.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's move on to the running back position.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just kind of bring this one in Derrick Henry.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: He'll be around just as Hill has been treated like, you know, an untouchable.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: We were actually a little surprised.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's still on the team at this point, but he, uh,
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: you know, they they paid the money.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't go for the cap savings there.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: And they've also put them in bubble reps since the start of the preseason.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: So that's been interesting.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: And they really need his past blocking to recover to its highest point in recent years.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's a place where the Ravens really are short handed.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: And then Adam Randall is clearly going to make the team.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I have just this last week really changed to say that I don't believe that Ali is going to make the team that I thought I just see better uses of that roster spot.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I've got those three as my only three.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: I do as well, I think that they compliment each other pretty well.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: Heels got a little bit more shitiness, probably would fare pretty well for the zone room.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Henry can do everything zone inside zone, outside zone, outside zone, gap power, everything.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: And Randall is a bigger body, so if Henry were to miss some time, he could be more to work horse as Hill.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: you know, back some up and change a pace.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think that Ali is worth rosturing because you can get a comparable player or two comparable players if you want to own the practice well I pretty much snap your fingers and you can get a player.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: So I actually had a well Jonathan Ward as a player that they just signed last week who's a tender veteran, I think he might be in line to get one of the veteran practice well spots.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, could be, and the Ravens of course have other teams that can draw from, particularly if the top, if I think if you have Henry Hill and Randall, and you've got the fourth spot on the practice squad like wide open and no other fourth running back, I think that becomes more attractive to another player.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think that obviously we're playing with one of our Jackson's very attractive, but
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, actually the possibility that you have been a couple older backs on the team and the possibly of injury would be real.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Um, let's move on to tight it.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we've been doing this show long enough that I actually, without looking at your list or rank order, the position is the same exact order as you till.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: So tight it.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_00]: Mark Andrews obviously is the leader of the group.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm smart, I expect to see some significant snaps also allow the full back occasion when I did he lined up a full back quite a bit for the bear's last season.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: Matthew Hibner and Joshua Coyvas, I had both of them making the team, but both drafted rookies, I was
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: very concerned about this position group entering the preseason games.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we've seen so positive signs out of the younger tight ends that could be a little bit more confidence.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: I thought somebody could maybe push clay last in particular for a rush or swap, but I think it's secure at this point.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: So I had four tight ends.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: Right, so the last two games we've seen good emergence of both hybner and Quavas, and I think they are entirely secure.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: Durham Smith, I'm not really excited about what he brings this team, but, you know, it turns out it's very mature position leader type player.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's been around the NFL a long time as long as Andrews may be longer.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: And he does have some receiving experience, hasn't been used as a receiver now in a little bit.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that could increase.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think he could be a guy who sees 15, 18 targets this year, maybe even a little more.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think he might have been around 11 last year, and that might have included the postseason.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think he could.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the one I'm concerned about really is Andrews, the reaction continues, I heard a stat on the national podcast this morning that he went from, it was a top 10 in the York Pretarget, maybe even better in 24, all the way down to like 45th or something last year, six point yards per target last year.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: People don't realize what allows these season he had.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't think.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: And it's extremely concerning what it happens at that age.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's just extremely concerning.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: And unfortunately, that's the kind of surprise you get from an older player.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: You don't get a real positive surprise.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously, surprise is relative to expectations.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: In terms of expectations for Andrews, my hope is that he can get back up north of seven yards per target.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: Even that wouldn't be really a great season by any stretch, but maybe, you know, maybe.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I would just say the ball's been forced to him.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: This camp a lot, and he said he's had a lot of trouble coming up with the ball in traffic, the way that I think would have been easier early in his career.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, Ravens are potentially shorthanded there.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so we'll see how it goes, but let's hope for the best for Mark, I don't expect the offense to be heaped to be the focal point of the offense, like it was two or three years ago, but if you can just be a consistent chain mover, more third medium that I think that would be good enough to keep the position of foot.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: We have a good question about it coming up in the mail bag in part two of this show.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'll go move to the wider receiver position.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think the six are absolutely set, and I think actually the totem of how they rank.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: in the coaches mind, in playing time and whatnot, has become a lot more clear.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: Flowers and Bateman obviously wanted to, by the way, Bateman having a big practice against Washington is really nice.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: That he needed that.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: Flowers didn't, and he was out, but those two guys are clearly one and two.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: And then Jacobi Lane,
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: How they treated him in the game against the Vikings, leads me to believe he won't play at all against the commanders, but they hold him at the end of the first half, before the end of the first half.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: And in the second half, Tez Walker made his big 18 plus 9, 27 yard catch, nice yak, crossing route, just kind of complimentary right, you want to see from Walker, it goes to sideline, it was his last play of the game, or as I know when it was his last play of the game.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: And he got congratulated by a street clothes wearing Jacobi Lane.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: which ever there was a kind of a slap in the face in the form of a thing that would be it.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I think Walker's fourth and Sarat only had six snaps in that game.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: So he should get some legitimate play in this one.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think Walker will too.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then I think if we'll see Lejante Wester maybe take on the, you know, the gadget role in this game and maybe play a little longer.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that's my six.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's ironclad at this point.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: I would be surprised as Western ends the season with more targets than Sirat, depending on how things go.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's plenty of targets to go around to the top four.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think even though it has just clearly behind Jacobi Lane, he will have ample opportunity.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: Usually there are four wide receivers that get a good number of targets and I think the offense is a whole
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree with that.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: And so more 11, they'll play a few more wider severs per snap.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: They've been very vanilla of this preseason.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: They've used two and a half wider severs per snap, essentially one and a half tight ends per snap and exactly one running back every snap.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: So there's been no variation of what they've done.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to see a lot more variation than that.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's the season rolls out, but Elijah Serrat is a guy that I think we actually may be in active on a lot of days, so the notion that West will get more targets in Serrat, I think is very logical.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: He'll be there because of the special teams need, and then the hopefully get him in for 6 to 10 offensive staff as well and make use of him hopefully.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, so yeah, and I think that may apply to Koyvas as well, potentially he could be more of an an active, but we'll see how that, you know, how they want to set up this special team's units, because those are the last, you know, five or six activations.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: I guess we should touch on or at least I'll give a couple thoughts on the bait in the situation.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_00]: I was really hoping for the best that
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: nothing terrible happened and he didn't do something terrible, hoping for the best for his availability.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_00]: I guess there is a potential force suspension depending on what the league on covers and the family violence is a potential big time suspension.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: Not quite sure how it's going to play out, but if he does catch a suspension
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: I would say the probably gonna stay in house and I think Gilroy is probably the guy or Chris Moore and I had both of those guys on the on my practice work.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: Right, I think Hillary is the guy, and he's one of the really important practice squad players that they get off their current 90 in my way.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: And it's good, because he's a younger guy and they've been dealing with older practice squad guys for several years.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have a problem carrying more because he has additional special teams.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's the wood-puddy for special teams you might need on any week, if I was feeling in for that.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: But as far as if you needed a receiver,
- 26:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so just while we're on the top of the practice squad to inform any of the listeners that aren't totally familiar Teams to carry up to 17 players if they use one international pathway player Ten of them are younger players with one year rookie one year Time to league and then you have six spots for veterans, so to a little bit of a balancing act
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: but that's a pretty substantial, I mean 17 guys, that's a lot of times, you know, so out of the 50, so they're carrying out of the 90, they're only have to really jettison 20 from the organization, the other 17, I think.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there are 17 guys who are going elsewhere, going to go in on a new jobs and really if you look across the it's sorry 20 you look across the league it's 20 times 32 it's 640 guys who Essentially aren't going to be back playing football and that that's not quite true because you have injuries and then you feel then usually from that same group and whatnot but A lot of people playing their last game of football on Friday night.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people are growing up, or played league, and some of them get to, and some of them don't, but they make a think about 14,000 a week to be on the practice block, and the team versus 16.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: $234,000 a year if you're on the practice squad for 18 weeks.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a hell of a gig when you can get it.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I know we have the relationship with Jeremy Lucien, being on our show a number.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: Lucien, I'll get it right at number of times.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: And he's talked about that and making that kind of money is really good.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: If you're having to work on your own to maintain yourself and be ready to play in the lead, you have to make other sacrifices in life.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a different part.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: By way, we were shown the best he got hurt this year during the CFL season, which is unfortunate, but anyway.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: Well back to so the team can elevate two players per game and the players can be elevated, I believe it's three times before they have to be put on the roster.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a great way to supplement depth, you know, and the Ravens most years have on the best practice clause in the league, which allows them to grind out tough games, you know, one injury strike and later in the season.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: they definitely also tend to get poached.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: And one of the things about the practice squad that the Ravens do exceptionally well and other teams do moderately well is your practice squad needs to cover you at every single position group.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: So you really need of your 16 guys and setting aside the IPP guy for a while because Ravens have two options on that.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: Either
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: IPPP guys.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: But you have to have a good representation every single place.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: So while the Ravens might be in a position where they'd want to keep three offensive tackles on the current group, they won't do that because it's just too much of a commitment to anyone position group.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: to cornerbacks and keep one corner back in a safety that certainly might happen this year.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: Keep one running back, join us for one tight end, you can keep one corner back, but you don't have a whole big pile of stuff because you just, first of all, the guys who are there are just excited about your opportunity anymore if they're set up with that.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: right so and then that but that does work in the favor of a player like Lucas Scott because they're even want to have one titan on the practice quad so I had to make in the practice quad even though they have four on the active roster
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: to totally agree with that.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: And he's a stylistic fit, exactly the stylistic fit you want as a backup, which we can get into that a little bit later.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, folks.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: I want to tell you about a new project for the season that has me very excited.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: If any I am today's show, and I will be teaming up with the elephant in the room in Miller'sville to bring you a live broadcast on 157th of the fan every Wednesday night.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: Each night will be an experience filled with great food and drink,
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: games, giveaways, and great football talk.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now we've had a chance to look at owner and navy veteran Jeremy Allen's menu.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: In terms of food, Morin has her eye on the panseared salmon with mushroom risotto.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking to get short rib potato skins.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: And Jeremy Khan recommends the bacon wrap dates.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: A full list of crafted cocktails is complemented by both domestic and regional craft beers.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever you're craving, the elephant's extensive menu has the variety to satisfy you.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: And when you're ready to talk, X is a nose with Femi and Me, the elephant in the room will be the place to be this fall.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: Our first show will be September 9th from 7 to 9 p.m., and 1057, the fan will be broadcasting live every week for the remainder of the season.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's the elephant in the room, 8421 veterans highway,
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: Offensive line, okay, so we have 10 guys, I have 10 guys on my offensive line.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you have nine or you want to 10 yourself.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_00]: And while I'm with nine, so I can continue my thoughts on social defense.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: You just try to positively manifest.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: Well, a little different sort of opinions probably help you for the show.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's always good.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: So my 10 guys there are the the starters Stanley Simpson Yawani and Rosengarten as well as both postsick and win at center that's six Carson Vincent B. number seven.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: I saw some some talk about how the PFF grade of
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: pounds pounds in this last game was somehow going to have him overtaking Vincent there's no way folks I just not I'm there watching practice there's no indication of that pounds is a number three all the way and you know he'll play as a number three in this game you won't see him with the starters even in this game
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: And Vincent is a guy that tried to figure out, well, can he play left tackle and right tackle, so they're trying to figure out additional things.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: Tows me a great block in level two in that game, no doubt, helped his PFF grade quite a bit, but, you know, and a good top-up practice squad guy, but not a guy who is gonna make this team over Carson Vincent.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I have Cory Bull, if making this team now, and I, you know, what, the logic there, well, what do we come back to Cory Bull?
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: Think about talking about your offensive, why do I seem to have to see similar guys right?
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: I have so similar, Vincent hasn't had the greatest postseason, which has been disappointing, because I mean, you and I have both been high on him.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm hoping he shows better, but I definitely agree he's a top, he's a 33 on his team.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: I, and I want to ask you, postsick or Gwen, how would you handicap the starting, starting job there before I guess that's really hard.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I, I think Gwen has clearly outplayed postsick on the other hand.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of think postsick has nothing left to prove and it's only a matter of him getting his legs right to play.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, you've probably seen some of these pictures of his, his calf muscles not looking right the way they were.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't see them.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so they've been out there on Twitter and stuff like that.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, it doesn't seem to have kind of the same leg drive, but looks like he's still got upper body strength.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's, he's very good technician.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: Gwen is a punishing dude.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: I had no idea.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: you know, that he was going to be the guy he was.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: But I kind of like it to be green, I think, and we'll take our time, post it, and get back in there.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: If it's appropriate, if the wind doesn't play well, I'd be fine with that kind of arrangement, but you know, Chvanguin has played too well, I think to sit at this point.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't have a strong opinion.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: You have more first-hand knowledge.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think postsick fared well as a pass blocker, in particular in the last game.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: Gwynne reminds me of the center version of Justin Metabiga.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's a little bit undersized, but he's explosive.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a lot of quick, quick, quick, muscle fiber in that body.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, here's all right.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I have nine, and I'm gonna throw a curve ball with the nine.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: but Stanley Simpson, Pocic, Yolane, Rosengarten, Vincent Gwynne, and Emery.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: So we're saying there for top eight, but I have pounds making the team over four years.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: Over four years and Bullock.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_00]: If I had to go to ten, I would go to Bullock, but I hadn't been a press of what I've seen for four years.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't handpicked by this coaching staff.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: There is some dead money involved, but I, I, I, I parking back to what Jesse Menter said.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_00]: We want to, I can't remember exact terminology.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_00]: So we want to take the best 53 that we can for this season.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: And the way he said it kind of made me think he's open to some criminals.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so if they cut for he's and somebody else picks him up, I believe they'll get some offset value from his contract.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not 100% sure that's really it depends on whether that language is in there and maybe Brian would know better is to whether that they typically include it on contracts, but my guess would be play or like for his where they're unsure about what he's going to make the roster that Raven's going to insist upon that.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: in much the way they would insist upon it in a broader Washington, really, to his deal.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not out of the realm of possibility, that's an extremely tackle heavy group.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: And if they were to do that, then they've really got to be convinced that Cory Bullock has the flexibility to go in there and play either guard or center.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: And they may feel that way.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: I like him as a tenth guy, better than that.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still hopeful that four he's becomes a better player.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: It has not been a good summer for him.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: It has not been.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: So there are reasons for that, reasons why I like your roster selections.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think the ravens are going to end up going there.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I just think a skill set that pounds has is more rare than what warrior he says.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't expect warriors to make it to the practice squad if he doesn't make the 53.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_00]: I do expect another team to take a fire on him, but I what hope that Bullock is top of the practice squad calibre.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a reasonable chance of that.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: In the case of pounds, one of the things we talked about on a show recently was that, you know, I don't care if our, if we have three left tackles and that would be the case with pounds.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: We have three left tackles and only one right tack on Rosengarten.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: I will roll the dice on somebody be able to move from left tack on a right tack on much, much bigger question mark on moving somebody from right tack on left tack on, I don't think Rosengarten can do it.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's the right guy for that move.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they might be the choice they would make at some point if it came to it.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the first guy up is going to be Vincent at that position.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: And if you have three left-accus and one right-tackle, you know, I'm fine with that risk.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: Well, in recent years, the difference between left tackling, right tackle, has shrunk, I think, because a lot of teams line up their best-pass threshold and right tackle intentionally.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, they're both premium positions, they're both very valuable.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: So, but go ahead to your point from the original Banter we had, I am a little bit concerned about the offensive line.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't quite gel.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't looked great.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't seen the stars.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_00]: We've only seen what two starters, I guess.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_00]: But still, I would like to see, you know, a little bit more, let's see how they look early in the season when I'm trying to say, I'm a little bit apprehensive about that.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's a legitimate concern about this team and I still think that the two weakest of the 22 starting positions are center and left guard.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that, you know, they're even as we know, even with the good news we got with Glenn, I'm still in the safe spot.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they have
- 37:54[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I might be the only one throw in the boat.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: We've out of the specialist.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's anything to really discuss here.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Tyler, Lou, Brian, Ecclinic, more.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't bring in competition.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's the thing to talk about.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: Where are you on the competition component?
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: Do you feel like it was necessary and they should have or press it?
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: So like that's one of the last week, I would have liked to see some kicker competition.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: The one-emissed look like maybe Acle had it curved to the, you know, slith to the right.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_00]: But for a player like Luke, if they brought in competition and he beat the guy out, that would only increase his confidence.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I expect they probably have the cause of probably as a couple kickers on speed dial and they're going to see how the beginning of the season works.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: I sent a lecture too.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you're not kicking a lot of field goals, hope it's won't touch them.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, that would be preferable, obviously.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: The rotation of the football from loop has looked really good in practice.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's good and of her and rotation.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's not.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: He had a lot of hook to his natural hook to his kicks, I'd say, last year that I really noticed more in camp those years, been much more and of her and rotation.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: And that means they've got
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: the foot the ball stuff they've got in a good place.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: Now there are other things.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: There's still questions about holding and what not, actually comes with with a really great holding reputation and and the reasons have a guy who's certifiably knows how to find the right kickers and holders in house.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: So the interesting thing is, you know, I think let's say the worst, the worst of everybody's
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: fears are true.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: The sum of all fears is that neither of these guys can do their job.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_01]: I still think the Ravens are one of the few teams that could look over the list of the guys who've been at Randy Brown's camps and find two new guys to come in and do the job at a passable level.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: Not at a 60th percent down level, but at a level that the Ravens special things don't get completely embarrassed by the rest of the league.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, there's no question about that.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_00]: And Luke,
- 40:10[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't want it to be a crisis of confidence situation where when it's the chips are down, you know, Tucker had icing his veins.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: That was when he was at his best, so apparently the Tucker's probably not fair.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: But he looked pretty good as far as the kickoffs, the landing zone stuff, because he struggled with that last year and the preseason so far he's done pretty good with that I thought.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, great, great point, and AI's done fantastic with that.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: I completely agree.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_01]: We have to call it here for the first show.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be back to talk about the defense and take your mail-back questions in the second show.
