- 1:12Speaker 2: mailbag episodes. We are going to hop right into our
- 1:17Speaker 2: thoughts on Kiki's Fourth Ingredient.
- 1:22Speaker 1: With a synopsis. Kik is overjoyed and then overwhelmed when
- 1:28Speaker 1: she agrees to cater a big wedding. Not just a
- 1:31Speaker 1: big wedding, but her sister Jenna's wedding anyway, she turns
- 1:34Speaker 1: to Clay for support, and together, Keky and Clay proved
- 1:37Speaker 1: that the best ingredient is love.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Marco Dufimia returns to direct Kiki's fourth ingredient. He had
- 1:45Speaker 2: previously directed Jenna's First Love and Sherry's Second Act. You
- 1:48Speaker 2: might recall Marco directed other Hallmark projects like The Jane
- 1:51Speaker 2: Mysteries and Jazz Ramsey, a K nine Mystery.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Neil Kimmel wrote the script for this installment. Neil was
- 1:58Speaker 1: responsible for sherry Second Act as well as other Hallmark
- 2:02Speaker 1: projects like several of the Jane Mystery movies as well
- 2:06Speaker 1: as the previously mentioned Jazz Ramsey. Catherine Davis stars as
- 2:10Speaker 1: Kiki Davis. Katherine appeared in all four Unwrapping Christmas movies.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Perhaps that's not one of her last names. I don't know.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Like the way I made a face was like could
- 2:21Speaker 1: that be right? It might not be right.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Catherine appeared in all four Unwrapping Christmas movies that aired
- 2:27Speaker 2: on Hallmark Plus in twenty twenty four. Before that, she's
- 2:30Speaker 2: been in projects like Everything Puppies and Welcome to Valentine,
- 2:34Speaker 2: Hold the Unwrapping Christmas Movies or another contender for movies
- 2:40Speaker 2: that we might see on Christmas in July on Hallmark Channel.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Interesting, I saw it, you were going to be like
- 2:44Speaker 1: might be a contender that we review and are like
- 2:47Speaker 1: a hard stop on that. Torrance Combs plays Clay in
- 2:53Speaker 1: Not So Shocking News. Torrance also appeared in all four
- 2:56Speaker 1: of the Unwrapping Christmas movies, just like his co star Catherine.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Other Hallmark projects include Royally ever After and Heartland.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Mindy Cohne stars as Angie. Mindy is best known for
- 3:07Speaker 2: her role on the Facts of Life and has recently
- 3:09Speaker 2: been seen on the series Palm roy Al. We're gonna
- 3:13Speaker 2: take a very quick break and come right back with
- 3:16Speaker 2: our Not So Shocking first impression of Kiki's fourth Ingredients. Hey, Wendy,
- 3:30Speaker 2: what's your first impression of the final installment of the
- 3:33Speaker 2: Hearts around.
- 3:33Speaker 1: The Table series? Well, it turns out the fourth ingredient
- 3:38Speaker 1: was the same writer from movie number two, and that
- 3:42Speaker 1: explains a lot.
- 3:45Speaker 2: My first impression is talk about woman on Woman crime.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Why is Crystal Demeanu's.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Mean girl we've ever seen on Hallmark? Totally with no
- 3:53Speaker 1: redemption arc at all. I know, It's just just me.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It's such a mess.
- 3:58Speaker 2: So can I tell you people in our Facebook group
- 4:01Speaker 2: have been using Women on Woman Crime, and I just
- 4:03Speaker 2: love it when stuff from the show crosses over into
- 4:06Speaker 2: the fandom.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Love it a deep cut, I know, and I remember
- 4:11Speaker 1: when we were using it a lot, because if you
- 4:13Speaker 1: don't know the backstory, the backstory is somebody had emailed
- 4:19Speaker 1: us our message us in regards to a review. We
- 4:22Speaker 1: left yeah because we said that two act dresses looked alike, right,
- 4:28Speaker 1: and they were like, that's Woman on Woman Crime as
- 4:31Speaker 1: a joke. It's fine. And then we ran with it
- 4:34Speaker 1: a little bit and then we got some emails that
- 4:36Speaker 1: were like, stop stop referring to it. Look, guys, now
- 4:40Speaker 1: it's in the Girl's Gone Hallmark Cannons exactly. Yep, Woman
- 4:45Speaker 1: on Woman Crime. The people, if we're to get into it,
- 4:50Speaker 1: people who told us to stop referring it to that
- 4:52Speaker 1: way were like, you guys don't need to feel bad
- 4:53Speaker 1: for having an opinion. They were on our side. But anyway,
- 4:57Speaker 1: let's talk what you liked about KI. I have exactly
- 5:02Speaker 1: two I like Catherine Davis, and I have said it
- 5:06Speaker 1: with all four movies. I think the four main characters
- 5:10Speaker 1: plus Angie and their foster storylines are the heart of
- 5:13Speaker 1: the series. All the romance stuff between Kiki and Clay
- 5:19Speaker 1: least favorite part of this movie. HM. My other thing
- 5:23Speaker 1: is I thought this movie wrapped up Jenna storyline nicely.
- 5:30Speaker 1: That is my like.
- 5:31Speaker 2: While I think it goes against the title of the movie,
- 5:33Speaker 2: I like the Jenna gets some closure and her relationship
- 5:37Speaker 2: comes full circle.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yes, the Jenna Movie times four. Like you, I agree
- 5:43Speaker 1: with you.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I like the relationship between the siblings and the partners
- 5:47Speaker 2: that we see in this This is really a family movie.
- 5:50Speaker 2: It's about the family, and I think it speaks to
- 5:52Speaker 2: our assertion on last week's review of The Josh Movie
- 5:55Speaker 2: that this is the Jenna Show and one of two
- 5:58Speaker 2: things should have happened.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Have either had two movies.
- 6:01Speaker 2: That were Jenna's storyline with some satellite characters, or it
- 6:06Speaker 2: should have been the Angie Show. Because I think, and
- 6:09Speaker 2: while this isn't our wishes section, I think the biggest
- 6:12Speaker 2: disservice that we did is Angie never once gets her
- 6:15Speaker 2: own storyline that isn't in relation to one of the hearts.
- 6:20Speaker 1: And so like, how did Angie become a foster mom?
- 6:24Speaker 2: We don't know anything about Angie. Angie, you know, the
- 6:26Speaker 2: Bechdel test is about like.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Do these women? Do two women ever appear on screen together?
- 6:32Speaker 1: Not talking about a man? Right? This is like whatever?
- 6:35Speaker 2: The Angie has no storyline outside of her children version
- 6:41Speaker 2: of that? Sure, and I think we did a real
- 6:43Speaker 2: disservice to her. I know we're still in likes, but
- 6:47Speaker 2: let me and let me compliment sandwich this. I did
- 6:52Speaker 2: like the ending scene with the montage of everyone's storylines
- 6:56Speaker 2: bringing it all back together, and I did think that
- 6:58Speaker 2: this was a necessary piece in the heart's story. However,
- 7:03Speaker 2: I don't think Kiki's a love story was a necessary
- 7:05Speaker 2: piece part of the whole.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I agree Kiki herself great love story, definitely. My list
- 7:16Speaker 1: of wishes is long. Are you ready to get there? Oh?
- 7:18Speaker 1: I only have four? So why don't you start? I
- 7:20Speaker 1: mean I have like six?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Okay, back to my first impression, kind of hoped for
- 7:24Speaker 2: some resolution with Crystal, who's rude for no reason. She's
- 7:27Speaker 2: just a B word, She's just a nice person. She
- 7:29Speaker 2: snied t Kiki the entire time. I'm a fancier chef
- 7:34Speaker 2: than you.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Oh that's cute. You didn't like her? Yeah, I have
- 7:37Speaker 1: some I have a digit see that I'm not her
- 7:40Speaker 1: later on, but I agree, like it's not necessary. So
- 7:45Speaker 1: why a rising tide raids a little shit? Exactly exactly,
- 7:49Speaker 1: Joy to just keep going.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah, the dude should not have been standing at the
- 7:53Speaker 2: altar when Jenna is not even at the wedding venue.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, just say to the people who are
- 7:59Speaker 1: in the audience, is that what they're called your guests?
- 8:03Speaker 1: Just be like, she's not here yet, so we're not
- 8:04Speaker 1: gonna stand up here like two buffoons for the next
- 8:06Speaker 1: forty five minutes. Like just let's say, everybody get a cocktail,
- 8:09Speaker 1: let's just mingle. Say nothing. You don't come and stand
- 8:12Speaker 1: at the altar when she's not even there. Yeah, that
- 8:14Speaker 1: was the wedding starting late for whatever reason it happens. Yeah, standing,
- 8:18Speaker 1: it's ridiculous.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I found the misunderstanding of it all. Jenna's dad not
- 8:27Speaker 2: knowing where she was, Jenna's dad showing up at the
- 8:31Speaker 2: rehearsal dinner, Jenna not knowing that Angie.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I found it inexcusable. Okay, go ahead, this is inexcusable
- 8:43Speaker 1: by whom multiple players. I love Angie, but look, she
- 8:48Speaker 1: needed to speak up. She needed to present Jenna with
- 8:52Speaker 1: the information about her dad. Earlier agree Jenna needed to
- 8:56Speaker 1: know that her dad didn't know that her mother had passed.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Her dad didn't know that she was in foster care. However,
- 9:06Speaker 1: that being said, please help me make Jenna's dad's choices
- 9:09Speaker 1: make sense. Yes, because he gave up his rights because
- 9:14Speaker 1: he traveled a lot. So you're telling me, I'm not
- 9:19Speaker 1: judging him for traveling. Some people's jobs take them far.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He and his wife split, So you're telling me, I
- 9:24Speaker 1: had a job that requires me to travel a lot.
- 9:27Speaker 1: So my choices are travel a lot and don't see
- 9:29Speaker 1: my kid a lot, or just say I'm not going
- 9:31Speaker 1: to see her at all. That's a choice that someone
- 9:33Speaker 1: who loves his child makes. Yeah, yes, I have similar notes.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I wrote, sir, you should be apologizing for not being
- 9:42Speaker 1: part of her life at all, and says you're apologizing
- 9:46Speaker 1: for like not knowing that you ended up in foster care.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Come on, it was terrible. And he still lives in
- 9:54Speaker 2: the same area, which seems kind of small townish, and
- 9:57Speaker 2: he still doesn't know that her mom past and doesn't
- 10:01Speaker 2: know that she.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Was in foster care. Doesn't make any sense. It doesn't
- 10:05Speaker 1: make any sense. And in regards to Angie, I did
- 10:08Speaker 1: think Angie was acting kind of out of pocket here,
- 10:10Speaker 1: Like it seems to me that Angie wouldn't have like
- 10:16Speaker 1: went to the father without Jenna knowing. That didn't make
- 10:21Speaker 1: any sense to me. I have two more. Okay, why
- 10:28Speaker 1: did we send Ella and Gina on Rory on vacation
- 10:30Speaker 1: Through the first eighty five percent of the movie. They
- 10:33Speaker 1: show up at the wedding, poor Ella especially. And my
- 10:36Speaker 1: final wish is simply a statement. It says, I love
- 10:39Speaker 1: you stfu. I yeah that I have that same more
- 10:43Speaker 1: end of movies. I love yous hate it. I hate it.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I hate it so very much. One thing we didn't
- 10:49Speaker 1: talk about in your wishes is Kiki agreeing to cater
- 10:52Speaker 1: a one hundred guest wedding from her food truck is
- 10:54Speaker 1: truly absurd.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Also agreeing to cater the wedding of your sister that
- 10:58Speaker 2: you would also like to attend me a break. You
- 11:00Speaker 2: have three brain cells, Kiki. You know this is not
- 11:02Speaker 2: going to work.
- 11:04Speaker 1: It doesn't make any sense to me. And then she
- 11:06Speaker 1: fires all the like her soux chefs, I'm going to
- 11:09Speaker 1: do it myself in your bridesmaid dress, Like what are
- 11:12Speaker 1: you doing? She's prepping. Oh my god, this is a
- 11:16Speaker 1: dig you see that. But there was like a tray
- 11:18Speaker 1: of like plastic wineglasses that had veggies in it. I
- 11:22Speaker 1: was like, this is Weber serving six of them? Yeah,
- 11:26Speaker 1: you're prepping in your food truck. Like, why can't you
- 11:29Speaker 1: get a commercial kitchen?
- 11:32Speaker 2: Well, I know, they kind of like went through it right,
- 11:34Speaker 2: like the wedding venue oven was broken, and then they
- 11:37Speaker 2: didn't have other options and the restaurant was too far
- 11:40Speaker 2: away and they couldn't find another rental and blah blah.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Blah blah blah. It was so stupid, Like it was
- 11:45Speaker 1: so stupid it was and honestly, like the wedding venue
- 11:49Speaker 1: needed to solve that. If the wedding venue doesn't have
- 11:52Speaker 1: a working kitchen, then it is on the wedding venue
- 11:54Speaker 1: to come up with a solution because obviously you need
- 11:57Speaker 1: a working oven. She's like, no, I can't use this,
- 12:00Speaker 1: and I could picture the other end of the conversation.
- 12:02Speaker 1: They were just like shrugging their shoulders and moving on
- 12:06Speaker 1: as if that isn't a problem that needed to be solved.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I agree, and they just kind of were like, I
- 12:14Speaker 1: guess there's no oven. We'll just have to deal with that.
- 12:17Speaker 1: What I know, I don't get it. One thing we
- 12:20Speaker 1: didn't talk about was this is a wish. Why did
- 12:26Speaker 1: Jenna ask her a strange father to walk her down
- 12:29Speaker 1: the aisle? Like it didn't really I felt like it
- 12:33Speaker 1: was a real disservice to Angie, who was actively in
- 12:37Speaker 1: your life for the past however many years. Yeah, I
- 12:41Speaker 1: hated all of that. I'll love doing you to be
- 12:43Speaker 1: a guest in my wedding. Come sit with my family.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Don't give that honor to this man who was not
- 12:48Speaker 1: there for you. And then just thought, poof you didn't
- 12:52Speaker 1: know where you went.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I thought I was doing what's best for you by
- 12:55Speaker 2: cutting myself out of your life completely. I don't understand that.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yes I don't. Okay, that's all I had for wishes
- 13:02Speaker 1: all right time. I did just see that There's two
- 13:06Speaker 1: things here. One is when Jimma and Angie and her
- 13:11Speaker 1: dad are walking down they they turned the corner to
- 13:13Speaker 1: walk down the aisle and there's like a big fountain
- 13:16Speaker 1: or something right in front of them, and then it's
- 13:18Speaker 1: like a quick shot and then they're in front of
- 13:20Speaker 1: the fountain. You know. We went to a wedding this
- 13:23Speaker 1: past summer and the church had a similar situation with
- 13:26Speaker 1: that like fountain right in the middle like a baptism yeah,
- 13:30Speaker 1: or like a holy water situation. And when the when
- 13:35Speaker 1: people walked in, like the the bridesmaids, they would have
- 13:38Speaker 1: to like walk around it. Now I noticed it when
- 13:41Speaker 1: they cut to it, and they like cut they never
- 13:44Speaker 1: showed people walking around it at all. But I thought
- 13:46Speaker 1: it was so funny because I had never seen it
- 13:48Speaker 1: until I had been in this particular church that set
- 13:50Speaker 1: up of it like right in the middle of the eye,
- 13:52Speaker 1: right in the middle, right in the middle. My other
- 13:55Speaker 1: did you see? That? Goes back to Clay and that
- 13:58Speaker 1: chef's name, what's her name? Crystal? Crystal. So he's like
- 14:02Speaker 1: getting ready to introduce her at the like dinner engagement
- 14:07Speaker 1: rehearsal dinner, rehearsal dinner, and he's like, hey, come here,
- 14:10Speaker 1: And I was like, she's not a dog like look
- 14:13Speaker 1: I know that she was like not the nicest character.
- 14:16Speaker 1: But the way he's like summoning her is like how
- 14:18Speaker 1: you would like your pet. I was like, yeah, He's like, hey,
- 14:21Speaker 1: he didn't even call her by name. You didn't even
- 14:23Speaker 1: say Crystal. He was like, hey, come here, come here,
- 14:27Speaker 1: let me introduce the chef to the everybody here, like
- 14:33Speaker 1: I hated the writing in this movie. Oh okay, my
- 14:37Speaker 1: two digits, that's are. At one point, Key says the
- 14:39Speaker 1: word produce, but she says it in a way I've
- 14:41Speaker 1: never heard before, and I don't know if it was
- 14:43Speaker 1: a mispronunciation or if this is how Catherine Davis speaks.
- 14:45Speaker 1: But she said produce. It was produce. It was like produce.
- 14:49Speaker 1: It was weird. Oh interesting. Finally, who's the random third bridesmaid? Oh,
- 14:54Speaker 1: I don't know. Everyone else Sherry Kiki and then no, yeah,
- 15:01Speaker 1: Sherry Kekey and some rando. It's not Ella. It wouldn't
- 15:05Speaker 1: be Ella. That wouldn't make sense if it was Ella. Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 1: but the other two dudes are in.
- 15:09Speaker 2: It, like, oh oh yeah, Gerry's dude is one of
- 15:13Speaker 2: his men.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Maybe Ella Stephanie Barnett, Bennett Bennett, or maybe she was unavailable,
- 15:20Speaker 1: but she's at the wedding. Yeah, I don't know.
- 15:22Speaker 2: That doesn't make sense because the third bridesmaid is only
- 15:24Speaker 2: at the wedding, she's not at the dress fitting. So
- 15:26Speaker 2: why couldn't Ella just be the third bridesmaid? Not that
- 15:29Speaker 2: I actually think she should have been, And I actually
- 15:31Speaker 2: don't think that.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Sherry's boyfriend should have been either Yeah or even Josh. Well,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I guess he's known Josh a long time, but Sherry's
- 15:40Speaker 1: boyfriend was new. Whatever.
- 15:43Speaker 2: What did you rate Kiki's fourth ingredient two and a
- 15:46Speaker 2: half stars, same.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Look. It started out strong. Oh I loved the first
- 15:53Speaker 1: one was so good. Everything else was terrible. Thank you
