- 0:00Speaker 1: Bench.
- 0:00Speaker 2: We have to Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:02Speaker 1: Okay, here we go where the.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Plays get broken down, then science gets denied. Got to
- 0:08Speaker 2: come up the bitch Hour two of Off the Bench
- 0:10Speaker 2: Live from the Raising Kines Studio.
- 0:33Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTB here live from Tampa, Florida,
- 0:37Speaker 3: continuing our coverage of SEC media days again.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Gonna have four teams in today.
- 0:45Speaker 3: It is going to be Alabama, Florida, Ole, Miss and
- 0:48Speaker 3: Texas A and M. Yesterday it was the Alburn Tigers,
- 0:52Speaker 3: it was the Georgia Bulldogs, in South Carolina game Cocks,
- 0:55Speaker 3: and the Vanderbilt Commodores. So before we continue on with
- 1:00Speaker 3: what we have today, was there anything from yesterday Alex Golish,
- 1:05Speaker 3: Kirby Smart, Shane Beemer, Clark Lee.
- 1:07Speaker 4: That kind of stood out to you?
- 1:09Speaker 1: Uh? Yeah, they clip from Kirby Smart and Jared Mitchell.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I know we're hoping to get that story and
- 1:18Speaker 3: I will talk to him about it tomorrow.
- 1:20Speaker 1: But yeah, Jared Mitchell is doing a fantastic job.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Doing a really good jo.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Good job, and they got it. He's got a little
- 1:26Speaker 1: series right now, The Barbershop, The Barbershope and you know,
- 1:30Speaker 1: funny enough that he sat down with Kirby Smart in
- 1:32Speaker 1: the barbershop yesterday and we shrew, I don't know if
- 1:35Speaker 1: y'all remember here on O TV, we are, I mean,
- 1:37Speaker 1: we're two steps out of the game always. Obviously, we
- 1:41Speaker 1: put Kirby Smart in a power fade shorter paper fade
- 1:48Speaker 1: standard standard white guy cut, and we also put him
- 1:51Speaker 1: on a flat top right there.
- 1:52Speaker 3: We did do with the flat I forgot about the
- 1:54Speaker 3: second part of that, so we actually were way ahead
- 1:57Speaker 3: of the fall process there. But the clip that's hilarious
- 2:01Speaker 3: was So Georgia the baseball team that Bulldog it went
- 2:05Speaker 3: to Omaha, and Kirby said he went to Omaha for
- 2:08Speaker 3: the first time and he was talking about his experience,
- 2:11Speaker 3: and so Jared Mitchell again LSU national champion.
- 2:14Speaker 4: In two sports, baseball and football.
- 2:17Speaker 3: He was the most outstanding player at the College World
- 2:20Speaker 3: Series for LSU when they won a national championship. But
- 2:23Speaker 3: they're talking about it. Kirby's like, man, you ever been.
- 2:27Speaker 1: To college? Yeah? Have you ever been?
- 2:28Speaker 3: Jared?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah you been?
- 2:30Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, Jared's been.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Jared's been. Jared's been there.
- 2:33Speaker 4: He's had some success there. Yeah, to the College Baseball
- 2:36Speaker 4: World Series.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Sure have.
- 2:38Speaker 3: But Yeah, I had the trophy for most Outstanding.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Was the most outstanding player of said world series. So yeah,
- 2:46Speaker 1: then he probably looked at his producers like, what's this
- 2:48Speaker 1: guy's deal? You know what I mean?
- 2:49Speaker 3: Yeah, And he played it off well, he didn't even
- 2:52Speaker 3: like Jared didn't even it was a pro move, Like,
- 2:54Speaker 3: he didn't even be like, well, actually no, he knew,
- 2:57Speaker 3: he said in that moment, he knew the edit was
- 2:59Speaker 3: going to be better than if he corrected him, and
- 3:01Speaker 3: he was.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Right, absolutely, Yeah, it's it's pretty great. So he's doing
- 3:06Speaker 1: a great job going into his second year already with
- 3:10Speaker 1: the SEC network. So shout out to him. That was
- 3:13Speaker 1: like the that was the funny clip that came out
- 3:15Speaker 1: from yesterday. But I think that everybody that says more
- 3:19Speaker 1: and more more and used to getting to hear clarkly speak,
- 3:23Speaker 1: and everybody's like, man, that guy is just inchargent. He
- 3:26Speaker 1: is an impressive interview. He's impressive to listen to, and
- 3:30Speaker 1: uh man, I can only imagine that he's impressive to
- 3:33Speaker 1: play for.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Yeah, so yesterday I was asking him because he played
- 3:39Speaker 3: a Vanderbilt, so he knows a couple of things. He
- 3:44Speaker 3: knows the challenges, he knows how hard it is to win.
- 3:47Speaker 3: He knows the resources like thereof he knows the stadium
- 3:51Speaker 3: experience wasn't great.
- 3:52Speaker 4: He knows all of those things obviously, right. I asked him.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I was like, hey, I knowing what it was to
- 3:58Speaker 4: what it is now.
- 3:58Speaker 3: And I was like painting the picture of new stadium
- 4:01Speaker 3: and fans of your team and your staying and all
- 4:03Speaker 3: the success. And he's like, well, it's good, but why
- 4:08Speaker 3: can't it be better?
- 4:09Speaker 1: Right?
- 4:09Speaker 3: That was his answer. He goes like, we can be better,
- 4:12Speaker 3: Like this can be a thing.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 3: He's like, we're never going to have one hundred thousand
- 4:16Speaker 3: people in our stadium and that's okay. We just have
- 4:19Speaker 3: to play to our advantages and we have to continue.
- 4:22Speaker 3: He goes, This guy's a limit. He's like, we're in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 4:26Speaker 3: It's a grow you know, the fastest growing city in
- 4:28Speaker 3: our country. He's like, we for the first time I
- 4:32Speaker 3: can go on the streets of Nashville, Tennessee and I
- 4:34Speaker 3: see Vanderbilt gear.
- 4:35Speaker 4: He says never. He goes, so it can be better. This,
- 4:39Speaker 4: this can be.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Sustained, Like he didn't want He's like, this is better,
- 4:44Speaker 3: but it's not the end result.
- 4:45Speaker 4: It's not the end goal.
- 4:46Speaker 3: So from my conversation with him, he thinks he's got
- 4:50Speaker 3: a team that can replicate what they've done in the
- 4:52Speaker 3: last couple of years.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the I think the quote that came
- 4:55Speaker 1: out from what he said as press conference was that
- 4:57Speaker 1: we're not done yet. Yeah. Yeah, and that's kind of
- 5:01Speaker 1: it's again, everyone takes a seat. That's Vanderbilt. Yeah, talking
- 5:05Speaker 1: a little confidently in the Southeastern Conference, and they do.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I mean, this is they should they They had a
- 5:11Speaker 1: season to be absolutely proud of. I mean, it was
- 5:13Speaker 1: a historical season for Vanderbilt. They were in the talks
- 5:18Speaker 1: to go to the playoff. Like you could make the
- 5:20Speaker 1: argument that they should have been in the playoffs last year.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Attend and two SEC team what like, It's Vanderbilt, it's
- 5:28Speaker 1: the Commodore and.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Had some good wins the belt as well.
- 5:31Speaker 1: So we will see. I mean, we know that, we
- 5:35Speaker 1: know that it's going to be tough to sustain. It's
- 5:36Speaker 1: tough for any team to sustain that. But can Vanderbilt
- 5:39Speaker 1: do it consistently? Well? They out coached a lot of
- 5:42Speaker 1: teams last year. Yeah, they're losing a absolute playmaker and
- 5:46Speaker 1: a dog at quarterback. Can they replace that? But I
- 5:50Speaker 1: know they're going to be really well coached. They're gonna
- 5:51Speaker 1: be very well disciplined, and they're going to run their
- 5:53Speaker 1: schemes exactly how the coaches want to run. Yeah, and
- 5:56Speaker 1: they're gonna do it with high effort guys. So yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 1: they're They're impressive of a team that's not like gone
- 6:02Speaker 1: of the days if Clark is there, Gone of the
- 6:06Speaker 1: days of Vanderbilt being a pushover.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Like I kind of and I did slight my source here.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I was telling him and this was off the air.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I was like, hey, coach, like, I covered one of
- 6:18Speaker 3: y'alls games last year at the LSU games, Like, yeah,
- 6:20Speaker 3: we talked before.
- 6:20Speaker 4: I got I go I no, No, I was like,
- 6:21Speaker 4: I know you.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Know who you're there, I said, but let me tell
- 6:24Speaker 3: you this, like I covered it and you'll beat LSU up.
- 6:28Speaker 3: And I said, and my co host in the mornings,
- 6:30Speaker 3: I was like, Matt Flank goes, oh, I remember Methlin.
- 6:32Speaker 4: He's like I said, he talks about.
- 6:34Speaker 3: How he looked out at every level in every position
- 6:37Speaker 3: and y'all were better than LSU, right, And so like
- 6:41Speaker 3: they were like, that's not so, I say, I bring
- 6:44Speaker 3: all that up to say, well, one, thank god LSU
- 6:46Speaker 3: made changes. But it wasn't you know, trick them football,
- 6:49Speaker 3: you know what I mean. Like, it wasn't Diego Poppy
- 6:51Speaker 3: is running back there like. No, they just ran like
- 6:53Speaker 3: Q counter and Q power with Diego Pobby and were better.
- 6:57Speaker 3: And that's how they beat a lot of That's how
- 6:58Speaker 3: they won ten games. It wasn't what people think. If
- 7:02Speaker 3: you think about Vanderbilt, you're like, oh, Diego popis just
- 7:04Speaker 3: scrambling free will. That's not what the offense was. There
- 7:07Speaker 3: was a lot of structure to ten BECs offense. There
- 7:10Speaker 3: was a lot of little small nuances that they just
- 7:14Speaker 3: ran really really well, and they were effective and they
- 7:16Speaker 3: were disciplined in those things, and that's how they were
- 7:19Speaker 3: able to go win ten games. It wasn't Boise State
- 7:22Speaker 3: with the Statue of Liberty against Oklahoma and the fiestaval.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it wasn't like, you know, a pick six and
- 7:28Speaker 1: LSU just fumbled a bunch. It wasn't that. It was
- 7:32Speaker 1: we're better than y'all, so we're just gonna beat you
- 7:34Speaker 1: at every single level, both sides of ball specialty.
- 7:40Speaker 5: All right, So apparently we lost them again. I'm not
- 7:43Speaker 5: really sure. What's going on. Their audio just went out,
- 7:45Speaker 5: and I'm trying to get in contact with somebody over
- 7:48Speaker 5: there to let them know that their audio went out.
- 7:52Speaker 5: But clearly things are not going well today. It's okay, guys,
- 7:56Speaker 5: we're gonna get it figured out. They're in Tampa, they are, yep,
- 8:00Speaker 5: I'm aware. I'm getting text about it. I'm gonna take
- 8:04Speaker 5: us to another break because that's just the kind of
- 8:08Speaker 5: show today is. But we'll be back. I'm gonna try
- 8:10Speaker 5: to get this figured out for y'all, and yeah, back
- 8:12Speaker 5: with more after this.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Off the bench. I don't know what.
- 8:30Speaker 2: That did, such a crazy way.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You welcome back here off the bench. Sorry for the
- 8:45Speaker 1: abrupt ending there. Still trying to figure things out, still
- 8:50Speaker 1: trying to figure out our hardware, technical difficulties, situations. So
- 8:54Speaker 1: no do we talk for like two minutes and we
- 8:57Speaker 1: were knowing going heard we were giving us some good
- 8:59Speaker 1: stuff too.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Yeah, we were. I don't know, I don't know. I
- 9:05Speaker 4: don't remember where we left off.
- 9:08Speaker 1: We're talking about vanderbil let's go undefeated.
- 9:10Speaker 4: I think so.
- 9:11Speaker 3: I think I think that's what we're talking about, Vanderbilt
- 9:13Speaker 3: going undefeated.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Any who's in C State, I don't know if you that's
- 9:19Speaker 4: where you.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Got left off at But the wolf Pack, too sweet,
- 9:22Speaker 3: They're coming to Nashville on the nineteenth. Then it gets
- 9:26Speaker 3: real for Vanderbilt. You're at Auburn, You're at Georgia, You're
- 9:30Speaker 3: Old miss at home. That's the three game stretch. You
- 9:35Speaker 3: gotta win one of those. M you know what I mean,
- 9:37Speaker 3: you gotta win one.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You need to win one of those to keep the
- 9:40Speaker 1: momentum that you've you've built Clerkly and his team have
- 9:43Speaker 1: built over the last you know, a couple of years,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and especially last season. You gotta win at least one
- 9:49Speaker 1: signature game this year to kind of prove.
- 9:52Speaker 4: To the haters out there that it wasn't just.
- 9:56Speaker 1: One magical season with a quarterback that played absolutely over
- 10:02Speaker 1: a ski. So you got to have a couple of
- 10:04Speaker 1: signature wins. You gotta be relevant, you gotta be dangerous.
- 10:07Speaker 1: And so, yeah, that's stretch that they I mean, I
- 10:10Speaker 1: expect them to start the season off three three now,
- 10:14Speaker 1: that's oh yeah, I do.
- 10:15Speaker 4: I do too.
- 10:16Speaker 3: And then the game at Alburn is going to be
- 10:18Speaker 3: interesting because look y'all, hear me say it all the time.
- 10:20Speaker 4: You probably get sick of it, but that place is
- 10:22Speaker 4: tough to play.
- 10:23Speaker 3: It, it's going to be rocking, and depending on if
- 10:27Speaker 3: they beat Baylor and they open up the season, depending
- 10:29Speaker 3: on what their record is like, that could be an
- 10:31Speaker 3: incredible venue that day. So I'm not going to just
- 10:35Speaker 3: give you that game, even though I think you're the
- 10:36Speaker 3: better football team.
- 10:37Speaker 4: That's gonna be difficult.
- 10:38Speaker 3: So at Auburn, at Georgia, Ole Miss at home, that's
- 10:41Speaker 3: the three game shrets. Because after that, then it's Arkansas,
- 10:44Speaker 3: It's at Kentucky, it's at Mississippi State. You're probably going
- 10:48Speaker 3: to be a favorite depending on how Kentucky is in
- 10:50Speaker 3: those games, even with multiple games on the road, and
- 10:53Speaker 3: then you got another bear. It's Alabama at home, It's
- 10:57Speaker 3: at Florida, and it's Tennessee.
- 10:58Speaker 4: But I say all that to.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Say, if they if they beat Auburn and they could
- 11:05Speaker 3: still lose to Georgia and Ole Mess, I do think
- 11:09Speaker 3: there's a chance that they only lose one more game
- 11:11Speaker 3: down the stretch and they could be a nine and
- 11:13Speaker 3: three football team.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Now I'm thinking more eight and four, but they could
- 11:16Speaker 4: be nine and three.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Clark Lee seems like the type of head coach, and
- 11:19Speaker 1: you see these head coaches you see these head coaches everywhere,
- 11:23Speaker 1: the type of head coach that he's gonna have such
- 11:25Speaker 1: a well coached team and be able to get the
- 11:27Speaker 1: most out of his players that he's SAIDs on, the
- 11:31Speaker 1: type of coach that he's going to win almost every
- 11:34Speaker 1: game he's supposed to. There's never going to be like
- 11:36Speaker 1: a big letdown type game. They're gonna win every game
- 11:39Speaker 1: they're supposed to. And I'm looking at this and I'm
- 11:41Speaker 1: seeing at least five or six games that they will
- 11:44Speaker 1: probably more than likely to be supposed to win. Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 1: then you have to beat some that are you have
- 11:50Speaker 1: to win a couple that are up in the air.
- 11:52Speaker 1: So I don't know, we're not like the biggest gambling
- 11:55Speaker 1: show here. But but I.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Like the over five and a half.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I do too.
- 12:02Speaker 4: I like they're over.
- 12:02Speaker 3: I like Oklahoma's oklahomamas and a half six and a
- 12:05Speaker 3: half seven, seven and a half, seven and a half.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Seven and a half. Oklahom like they're going to the playoffs.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think so too. I think so too.
- 12:14Speaker 4: I think that's kind of the team. I'm kind of
- 12:16Speaker 4: being like, that's.
- 12:17Speaker 1: The sleepy team that nobody's like talking about because I
- 12:23Speaker 1: think everybody expects them to be good and relevant. But
- 12:26Speaker 1: you know, I mean, look, they made the playoffs last
- 12:29Speaker 1: year with a quarterback that had surgery on his throwing
- 12:32Speaker 1: hand mid season. They're retooled, they got improvement personnel on
- 12:38Speaker 1: the offensive side of the ball. I think they're gonna
- 12:41Speaker 1: be way much more much improved on offense. So and
- 12:46Speaker 1: you know, Bena Bules is going to have the defense ready.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So they're going to be a dangerous team. And that's
- 12:51Speaker 1: one for I think everybody should keep their eye on.
- 12:54Speaker 3: I'm right there with you. I know that they've got
- 12:57Speaker 3: some challenging games. Certainly in the first four games. You
- 13:00Speaker 3: got to go to Michigan and you have to go
- 13:01Speaker 3: to Georgia. You gotta play Texas at home. I get it.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I understand all of that. I think they're a better
- 13:07Speaker 3: football team than Michigan. And you got to split Georgia
- 13:10Speaker 3: and Texas, and Texas is going to be in red River.
- 13:13Speaker 3: That game, you never know who to favor, you never
- 13:17Speaker 3: know which way to lane. That game is so hard
- 13:20Speaker 3: to predict because it's such a great rivalry game. We
- 13:22Speaker 3: know the situation there. But they have to split at
- 13:26Speaker 3: Georgia and Texas and red River. I think that's like
- 13:29Speaker 3: they split that. Okay, then we go down the rest
- 13:32Speaker 3: of the schedule and let's go Kentucky at home, at
- 13:35Speaker 3: Mississippi State, South Carolina at home, and then you gotta
- 13:39Speaker 3: win two of the next three at Florida Ole Miss
- 13:43Speaker 3: at home, Texas A and M at home. Then you
- 13:45Speaker 3: finish up with Missouri at Florida, Ole Miss and A
- 13:48Speaker 3: and M. You gotta win two of those. So your
- 13:53Speaker 3: loss is gonna come in that three game stretch, and
- 13:55Speaker 3: you're gonna have a loss between Georgia and Texas your
- 13:57Speaker 3: ten and two bam, you're in the playoff.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they're gonna they're gonna win a game early. Yeah,
- 14:04Speaker 1: and that's people are gonna be like, oh, okay, these
- 14:07Speaker 1: guys are for real that It wasn't It wasn't accident
- 14:09Speaker 1: last year they made I mean just think about Oklahoma
- 14:12Speaker 1: last year, like they made the playoff? Bye? Did they
- 14:16Speaker 1: ever really look good as a football team? Like they
- 14:20Speaker 1: look good? Maybe I said that wrong? Did they ever
- 14:22Speaker 1: look great? Where you watch you turn on the film
- 14:25Speaker 1: and you watched Oklahoma and you're like, dude, these guys
- 14:27Speaker 1: are one hundred percent legit. I don't remember that ever happening. Now.
- 14:32Speaker 1: They found ways to win on to scratch and call
- 14:35Speaker 1: and get into the playoff. But I think this year
- 14:38Speaker 1: it's gonna be one of those oh darn moments that
- 14:42Speaker 1: people watch and and and they're gonna pop off early.
- 14:44Speaker 3: So when Jim Naggy there, you know, now their general manager,
- 14:48Speaker 3: I swear almost the executive director of the Reese's Senior Bowl.
- 14:50Speaker 3: It's not even Reesius anymore. He's not the executive director.
- 14:53Speaker 3: But I say it every time because I'm too used
- 14:54Speaker 3: to seeing it.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Now.
- 14:55Speaker 3: The GM of Oklahoma football, when he sat down with
- 14:58Speaker 3: us on Monday, I felt a confidence from him. And
- 15:01Speaker 3: Jim Nagg's not a boastful guy. You know, he's not
- 15:04Speaker 3: going to come in here. He felt comfortable because I
- 15:06Speaker 3: think he likes his team a lot.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it didn't look like he was BS of us. No,
- 15:11Speaker 1: he was pretty confident and he said, jentleman to yours
- 15:14Speaker 1: really strong. He had a big neck, he did.
- 15:17Speaker 4: He said he couldn't even button his top button.
- 15:19Speaker 1: His top button. No ties, No ties for that guy.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Now we're going to bring up something you and I
- 15:27Speaker 3: talked about at launch yesterday. There's only been one quarterback
- 15:31Speaker 3: in NFL history to our knowledge, Yes, that won a
- 15:35Speaker 3: Super Bowl that had a six pack.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yes, we were talking about it, and I think it's
- 15:41Speaker 1: a great conversation topic. How many Super Bowl winning quarterbacks
- 15:46Speaker 1: do you know of that you can't argue with it?
- 15:51Speaker 1: You know that they had a six pack?
- 15:52Speaker 3: Yeah, not that maybe because remember Brady's Brady now, but
- 15:57Speaker 3: when he played we all know the combine.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Photough Brady is.
- 16:01Speaker 4: We know Troyman.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Now, Brady needs a burger. Yeah, he's like a little thin,
- 16:07Speaker 1: his face, a little sunken in.
- 16:09Speaker 4: A little vampire two.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Hi got a little vampire too. I don't know what
- 16:11Speaker 1: kind of aging stuff he's taken, but he's lost a
- 16:16Speaker 1: little fatness cheeks. He's more handsome with the little fatness cheeks.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I gotta tell you.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Yes.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Back to our point, Jalen Hurts probably the only one
- 16:26Speaker 1: that I could think of. Oh yeah, that guy had
- 16:28Speaker 1: a six pack for sure. So is that an indictment
- 16:32Speaker 1: on Matier? I don't know. You think he's got a
- 16:34Speaker 1: six pack. He's got a big neck. I don't know, dude.
- 16:39Speaker 4: You guys guy's got.
- 16:40Speaker 1: That's why I never got one because I was trying
- 16:43Speaker 1: to win Super Bowl.
- 16:44Speaker 4: John mytear's got one.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I'm just gonna put it out there. Yeah, if you.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Can't, if you can't button, if you can't button your tie,
- 16:52Speaker 3: your you know, your shirt to put on your tie. Yes,
- 16:54Speaker 3: six pack, but mosey, unless you got a triple chin situation,
- 16:58Speaker 3: then that's probably not the game.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And I will say, like most Quarterback Championship quarterbacks would
- 17:02Speaker 1: rather drink a six pack than have a six pack.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Unless you got a drible chin situation, then that's and.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I will say, like the most Quarterback Championship quarterbacks would
- 17:11Speaker 1: rather drink a six pack than have a six pack.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Unless you got a drible chin situation, then that's and
- 17:15Speaker 3: I will say, like you're putting most we're sitting in
- 17:17Speaker 3: our ear.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Championship quarterbacks would rather drink a six pack than have
- 17:20Speaker 1: a six pack, unless you got a drible chin situation.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Then that's and I will say, like, you're putting more
- 17:25Speaker 1: sitting in our ear quarterbacks would rather drink a six
- 17:28Speaker 1: pack than have a six pack.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Off the bench.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Live from the twenty twenty six SEC Football Media Days
- 17:48Speaker 2: in Tampa, presented by FMOL Health, Our Lady of the Lake,
- 17:51Speaker 2: Relief Windows, Red Fiber and Ferris construction and roofing.
- 18:03Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTB here live from SEC
- 18:08Speaker 3: Media Days.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Should I lead with that six pack joke again, got
- 18:14Speaker 1: repeated a few times. Do you think they hurt it? Hey,
- 18:20Speaker 1: we're back though. I think everything's working. I think we're
- 18:22Speaker 1: solid now. I'm sure. So we do apologize. We've had
- 18:29Speaker 1: some difficulties here, but look we are Uh, you roll
- 18:33Speaker 1: with the punches. You got to brush things off and
- 18:36Speaker 1: you do the best you can with what you've got.
- 18:38Speaker 1: So it's what we're doing here at SEC Media Days
- 18:41Speaker 1: in Tampa. And yeah, I think we're back. I think
- 18:45Speaker 1: we got all wires have been uncrossed. They are plugged
- 18:48Speaker 1: in and ready to roll.
- 18:50Speaker 4: So you're laughing at the chat.
- 18:55Speaker 1: You guys are funny.
- 19:00Speaker 4: My gosh, Okay, I want to crumble these headphones. Take
- 19:03Speaker 4: in my hand, just them, break them.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And yeah, I believe that if you are following us
- 19:08Speaker 1: on YouTube, I think we're starting to brand new YouTube
- 19:11Speaker 1: feed as well, so be on the lookout.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Every time Flynn said everything's working now, it's immediately crashed.
- 19:23Speaker 1: No, it just changed YouTube streamed.
- 19:25Speaker 4: No, I'm saying you have said it like three times
- 19:27Speaker 4: a day.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Well now this is the time. Yeah, now
- 19:30Speaker 1: this is for real.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Oh Christy, you're so right. I blame old mess Sabotaging
- 19:36Speaker 4: is mistake.
- 19:36Speaker 1: That's exactly what happened. They saw the LSU column, they
- 19:40Speaker 1: came in here, they gave us the dud wires. Yeah,
- 19:45Speaker 1: the son said, you know what?
- 19:47Speaker 3: Yep, another comment here. Well, time to tune in to Murphy,
- 19:50Speaker 3: Sam and Jody. We lost another one, Matt, don't do it, man.
- 19:57Speaker 3: We you know we've lost best morning show to them
- 19:59Speaker 3: seven years running. What's one listener? You know, that's one
- 20:03Speaker 3: more to the old law firm.
- 20:05Speaker 1: That's not funny.
- 20:07Speaker 4: I don't know who to blame, Murphy, Sam or Jody.
- 20:09Speaker 1: It's not at all. I say you blame them all AnyWho.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I don't.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not trying to be funny. I don't
- 20:20Speaker 3: know which breakdown went over air and didn't. So if
- 20:24Speaker 3: we repeat ourselves of a team breakdown that we've already covered,
- 20:27Speaker 3: it truly is not the intention. We just don't know
- 20:30Speaker 3: what went over air, what did not go over air.
- 20:33Speaker 3: I don't really think we broke down Florida either way.
- 20:37Speaker 3: We talked about John Summrall and what we think.
- 20:39Speaker 4: About him and y'all know this.
- 20:41Speaker 3: It does take a lot for us to be like, yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 3: Florida head coach, let's give that guy praise.
- 20:45Speaker 4: You'll see later today.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Like he is somebody that I think is going to
- 20:49Speaker 3: be successful there, and I can understand like for that
- 20:52Speaker 3: fan base, So like, are you kidding another group of
- 20:54Speaker 3: six coach from Louisiana when he initially got hired.
- 20:57Speaker 4: But he is not Billy Napier.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Him and Napier cannot be more different than they actually are.
- 21:03Speaker 3: And it's not the besmirch Billy Napier, but at least
- 21:06Speaker 3: personality though, is just more.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Laid back, talks a little slow.
- 21:11Speaker 3: He had his own way about, you know, going about
- 21:13Speaker 3: his business. John Sumrall is.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Going to be the smirching people around here. What don't
- 21:20Speaker 1: bespirch anybody? It made me laugh, the smirch. Good word
- 21:23Speaker 1: was that your SA two vocabulary word of the day.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I didn't take the sat, I took the act. I
- 21:30Speaker 3: don't know, you know, it's one I've used for a
- 21:32Speaker 3: long time.
- 21:33Speaker 1: The smirch.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I like it.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I'm not trying to be Bob. I
- 21:38Speaker 3: used to think Bob used to have like a word
- 21:39Speaker 3: of the day calendar. Yeah, and he'd come in and
- 21:42Speaker 3: he tried to see how smart it could be.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah, like one of these little books that you can get,
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know, put it by the toilet and some reading material.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Yeah, so like I tried to do that just because
- 21:50Speaker 3: he would do it to me. Amalgamation was the other
- 21:52Speaker 3: one that I tried to throw at him, like pretty often,
- 21:55Speaker 3: and I ran out.
- 21:56Speaker 4: After like besmirch and amalgamation though.
- 21:58Speaker 1: That's it though, Like, but if you have a couple
- 22:00Speaker 1: of good words in the arsenal, you can throw them
- 22:02Speaker 1: out and people think you're much smarter than you are.
- 22:04Speaker 1: So like I'm listening to Besmirched, and I'm like, whoa,
- 22:07Speaker 1: this guy, this guy smarter than I thought he was.
- 22:10Speaker 1: To congrats, I'm gonna use it, Thank you, appreciate it.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I'm not gonna use amalgamation. That's trying too hard.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Vaan macgum says triple chin has been discussed in detail. Yeah,
- 22:18Speaker 3: we apologize. That's when the loop started happening. We were
- 22:20Speaker 3: throwing out there at the old six bag joke and.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it was so funny. We had to play it.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Seventy people three times seventy three.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Not anymore though, yeah, not anymore people.
- 22:36Speaker 4: What's that I'm talking about.
- 22:37Speaker 3: I'm still reeling from getting called out live in front
- 22:39Speaker 3: of Clark Lee yesterday.
- 22:41Speaker 1: What happened? I think I did that. I misinterpreted one
- 22:44Speaker 1: of his messages.
- 22:46Speaker 4: It's okay, hold on, keep.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Talking, Okay, all right, Well Jake is leaving right now.
- 22:53Speaker 1: So what I'm gonna do? What I wanted to I
- 22:55Speaker 1: was pulling up. We talked about Vanderbilt's over under season
- 23:01Speaker 1: win total at five and a half, which I think
- 23:03Speaker 1: is crazy low right now. But I wanted to kind
- 23:06Speaker 1: of go through a list of the SEC and kind
- 23:08Speaker 1: of give you the season win totals for each team,
- 23:11Speaker 1: starting from top to bottom. And of course it's no
- 23:13Speaker 1: surprise that the highest season win total is the Georgia
- 23:18Speaker 1: Bulldogs in Texas Longhorns at nine and a half, follow
- 23:23Speaker 1: by Alabama, who is eight and a half. Little surprising
- 23:26Speaker 1: that they're eight and a half because they do not
- 23:29Speaker 1: know exactly who their quarterback is going to be. But
- 23:31Speaker 1: Alabama LSU Ole Miss both sit at eight and a
- 23:34Speaker 1: half on the Vegas season win total, and then followed
- 23:39Speaker 1: by Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas A and M at
- 23:42Speaker 1: seven and a half. Jake, what's up. We're going through
- 23:44Speaker 1: the season win totals for all the SEC teams, So Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas,
- 23:51Speaker 1: A and M at seven and a half, then Auburn, Missouri,
- 23:54Speaker 1: South Carolina at six and a half. Then it drops
- 23:56Speaker 1: to the bottom of the barrel, Arkansas, Kentucky, missis State,
- 24:00Speaker 1: Vanderbilt all A. Well, that's this one has Vanderbilt at
- 24:03Speaker 1: four and a half, but all at four and a half.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Anything surprising to you?
- 24:07Speaker 3: Take Vanderbilt out of it, anything surprising you, I mean, that's.
- 24:10Speaker 1: A I mean Alabama being eight and a half, that.
- 24:14Speaker 4: Is just because I think we're not we're just not
- 24:16Speaker 4: used to seeing that.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and we're not used to them really not having
- 24:22Speaker 1: an experienced quarterback behind behind center as well. So that's
- 24:28Speaker 1: that's a lot. I mean, I would have put them
- 24:30Speaker 1: at about seven and a half to eight, but they're
- 24:33Speaker 1: a little high that I thought.
- 24:36Speaker 4: I don't.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Like, I'm sitting here and I'm looking at a couple
- 24:39Speaker 3: of these and like, South Carolina is either gonna win
- 24:42Speaker 3: four games or eight games, Like I just there's no
- 24:45Speaker 3: in between. I'm not gonna talk five eight games. I
- 24:50Speaker 3: don't think so either. I don't think so, but it
- 24:53Speaker 3: feels like it's either gonna be four eight like so
- 24:56Speaker 3: there's like no in between. Like I say that because
- 24:59Speaker 3: I'm surprised at got all the way up to six
- 25:01Speaker 3: and a half.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right, that is that is shocking
- 25:05Speaker 1: to me. It's to have them more than Vanderbilt seems
- 25:10Speaker 1: like a lot to me. What do you think of
- 25:15Speaker 1: coach Biemer yesterday? Did you get to hear a lot
- 25:17Speaker 1: of his I had Shane, and he impressed me so
- 25:21Speaker 1: much listening to him last year. This year, I'm like,
- 25:23Speaker 1: all right, I know you're gonna be impressive, and I
- 25:25Speaker 1: know people are gonna be like, yeah, he's really confident,
- 25:27Speaker 1: but I'm not falling for it.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Twice I didn't.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Okay, how do I say to this because I really
- 25:34Speaker 3: love Shane.
- 25:36Speaker 4: He looked.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Worn and tired, Okay, like like this has been I
- 25:42Speaker 3: don't want to say he's stressful, but probably some stresses,
- 25:45Speaker 3: but like it's been an off season that he's probably
- 25:49Speaker 3: had to do more hands on type situation and so
- 25:53Speaker 3: like look, and I'm not saying that like oh my god,
- 25:55Speaker 3: like that guy's he's but he just looked tired, like
- 25:59Speaker 3: you look like he had understood that this is a
- 26:03Speaker 3: big year for him and he is going to be
- 26:06Speaker 3: really hands on.
- 26:07Speaker 4: Now.
- 26:07Speaker 3: He hired Kendall Briles to be his offensive coordinator. I
- 26:10Speaker 3: know he loves that pairing and they had Mike Schuler
- 26:13Speaker 3: last year and it was awful. But he just looked
- 26:16Speaker 3: like a guy that understands that this is going to
- 26:19Speaker 3: be a make or break year and if they don't win,
- 26:21Speaker 3: he's not going to be there.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Yeah, he's by he might not be like he's definitely
- 26:29Speaker 1: the hottest seat in the SEC. Now if they don't
- 26:35Speaker 1: do well, he might not be the first coach out.
- 26:37Speaker 1: And they might do well, and he's you know, earns
- 26:40Speaker 1: himself another couple of years. But I think going into
- 26:42Speaker 1: the season, at least he has to have the hottest
- 26:45Speaker 1: seat in the SEC. And that's I mean, that's a
- 26:47Speaker 1: lot because there's a lot of first time head coaches.
- 26:49Speaker 1: There are a lot of young guys. So the uh, yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 1: I think that. I don't know, do you think anybody's hotter.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Than Shane Beemer?
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Now, because there's I mean there's a lot of
- 27:03Speaker 1: first time head coaches. There's a lot of.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Sorry, we're trying to Danny Warfles over there. We're trying
- 27:11Speaker 3: to say we.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Can get him on.
- 27:12Speaker 3: I don't Shane Beemer the hottest seat probably, I mean probably,
- 27:17Speaker 3: so you got so many new coaches, Matt obviously, and
- 27:20Speaker 3: so like that's you know, that's gonna be They're gonna
- 27:23Speaker 3: get some time. I don't think Jeff Levy's on the
- 27:25Speaker 3: hot seat of Mississippi State. Uh, you know, I don't
- 27:28Speaker 3: know what Pete Golding's uh, you know, Leash is going
- 27:31Speaker 3: to be at old mess. I don't think they're gonna
- 27:32Speaker 3: pull Zach Garnette and fire him after one year at
- 27:35Speaker 3: Mississippi State.
- 27:35Speaker 4: I don't think that's gonna happen.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Even if it even if it completely fell off you
- 27:40Speaker 3: know the tracks there, I don't I don't think that
- 27:42Speaker 3: would happen. So, I don't know, you're probably right, that's
- 27:45Speaker 3: probably the answer there.
- 27:46Speaker 4: We're gonna be joined.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Now by Florida legend Danny Warfel, a guy that obviously
- 27:54Speaker 3: did a lot of great things on the football field,
- 27:55Speaker 3: but I think the greatest achievement that he's ever had
- 27:58Speaker 3: in life is putting up with Chris Dormy and for
- 28:00Speaker 3: as long as he has, how what's going on that's
- 28:03Speaker 3: so good to see you.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:05Speaker 3: So, been really good friends with Doring for for a
- 28:08Speaker 3: long time, and so I've gotten great stories about y'all's relationship,
- 28:12Speaker 3: you and coach Spurrier, and how y'all all still keeping
- 28:15Speaker 3: contact and you know, do multiple events all year every year.
- 28:19Speaker 3: It feels like you are doing multiple things together. That's
- 28:21Speaker 3: great though. I mean, you know you were able to
- 28:22Speaker 3: win a national championship. Sorry Doring, we all you know,
- 28:25Speaker 3: had to get rid of you before they did that.
- 28:27Speaker 3: But when you do something like that, Danny, like, they
- 28:29Speaker 3: last forever. And look me and this old guy, like,
- 28:31Speaker 3: we were fortunate enough to win one at LSU, and.
- 28:33Speaker 4: It's so cool to be a part of that fraternity.
- 28:35Speaker 3: You win a national championship and like twenty thirty years later,
- 28:38Speaker 3: you still get a chance to be around your buddies,
- 28:40Speaker 3: be around your coach and talk about it.
- 28:42Speaker 4: It really is.
- 28:42Speaker 6: I remember playing for Spurrier and he would say, you know,
- 28:46Speaker 6: all these things matter, but for some reason, the championships
- 28:49Speaker 6: are the memories that last forever, and there really is
- 28:51Speaker 6: something very unique and special about it.
- 28:54Speaker 4: So many of those guys.
- 28:55Speaker 6: I'm still really close with that Chris Doring obviously wasn't
- 28:58Speaker 6: on the team that I wanted, but was a big
- 29:00Speaker 6: part of that whole career and he's still one of
- 29:02Speaker 6: my best friends.
- 29:02Speaker 4: It's great, great memories.
- 29:05Speaker 1: So people always ask me, they're like, man, what makes
- 29:07Speaker 1: what's the difference between the championship there? What's the difference
- 29:09Speaker 1: between the DNA? And it's always the hardest thing to explain.
- 29:12Speaker 1: You try to explain the relationship that you have with
- 29:15Speaker 1: your teammates and your coaches. It's always like this, there's
- 29:18Speaker 1: this explanation out there that's like hanging in the air
- 29:20Speaker 1: that you just can't find the words for. Have you
- 29:22Speaker 1: ever figured out the words like what separated that team
- 29:25Speaker 1: above the others?
- 29:26Speaker 6: Yeah? I mean I think you're right. It's always hard
- 29:29Speaker 6: to pinpoint. You can always point to some things. You know,
- 29:31Speaker 6: there's usually a few players that are amazing or a coach.
- 29:34Speaker 6: You know, in our case, I think coach Burrier was
- 29:36Speaker 6: it was.
- 29:36Speaker 1: A key to that.
- 29:38Speaker 6: But at the same time, you know, there was something
- 29:40Speaker 6: magical about that year. I mean, we lost the last
- 29:42Speaker 6: regular season game to Florida State, and at that time
- 29:45Speaker 6: you were kind of it wasn't like you're still getting
- 29:47Speaker 6: the playoffs. It was like you're out of it. But
- 29:49Speaker 6: a lot of things happened beyond our control. Nebraska lost
- 29:52Speaker 6: to Texas, Arizona State lost to Ohio State, we beat Alabama,
- 29:56Speaker 6: and then we had a rematch with Florida State for
- 29:58Speaker 6: the title. So it's kind of felt like a the
- 30:00Speaker 6: ending to a movie that you may not believe it.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Was so perfect.
- 30:04Speaker 3: I guess that was really familiar, very familiar for us.
- 30:07Speaker 3: We lost our last regular season game. Now we lost
- 30:10Speaker 3: some triple overtime to Arkansas. We were the number one
- 30:12Speaker 3: team in the country. We get bumped to like six
- 30:15Speaker 3: or seven somewhere around there, and so like we're going
- 30:17Speaker 3: to the SEC championship game, and we were obviously disappointed,
- 30:20Speaker 3: but it's like, hey, we still get a chance to
- 30:22Speaker 3: play for the SEC. If you don't win a Natty,
- 30:24Speaker 3: that's the second best thing. So we were fired up
- 30:25Speaker 3: for the game. Seventeen things had to happen. There's no
- 30:28Speaker 3: way they're going to happen. And they started to happen
- 30:30Speaker 3: that day.
- 30:30Speaker 4: Wow.
- 30:31Speaker 3: And we get on the plane and this is before
- 30:33Speaker 3: WiFi is on a plane or anybody nobody had real
- 30:35Speaker 3: you know, cell phone stuff that you could find out quick.
- 30:38Speaker 4: And so the pilot is getting.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Over the pass way telling us the scores of those games,
- 30:44Speaker 3: and so like they would come in, Danny, we're like,
- 30:46Speaker 3: oh my god, there's one. It's like and the big
- 30:47Speaker 3: one that day was Pitt had to beat West Virginia
- 30:50Speaker 3: and Pitt was like a three touchdown dog, right, and
- 30:53Speaker 3: it happens, and so like as they're coming in, we're
- 30:55Speaker 3: celebrating on the plane, we're like throwing stuff up. The
- 30:57Speaker 3: last one comes in, Oklahoma has to beat Missouri, and
- 31:00Speaker 3: like we knew, like, all right, we're probably gonna be
- 31:01Speaker 3: number two and we're gonna have a chance. And then
- 31:03Speaker 3: I always say, just like I bet you feel this
- 31:05Speaker 3: way as well. We could play the seventy two Dolphins
- 31:07Speaker 3: and it's not gonna matter.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Because they let us back in.
- 31:09Speaker 6: Yeah, oh man, yeah, I mean we beat Florida State
- 31:12Speaker 6: fifty two to twenty when we got our next shot
- 31:14Speaker 6: at him. But I actually didn't realize how much led
- 31:17Speaker 6: those stories were because the same thing we were at
- 31:19Speaker 6: the SEC Championship game getting ready to play Alabama, and
- 31:22Speaker 6: Coach Breer was very much like no laughing and giggling
- 31:25Speaker 6: on game day, he.
- 31:26Speaker 4: Was very serious, and we were going up the elevator.
- 31:28Speaker 6: I was on the elevator with him and the elevator
- 31:31Speaker 6: opened and guys were jumping and screaming in the hallway
- 31:34Speaker 6: and he.
- 31:34Speaker 4: What y'all doing it? They said, Texas just beat Nebraska. Yeah, okay.
- 31:42Speaker 1: To Daan, let's talk about it. Let's talk about Florida now,
- 31:45Speaker 1: Brandon coachco summer all comes over. There a lot of
- 31:47Speaker 1: high expectations and you know, new coach, you never really
- 31:52Speaker 1: know how it's going to go the first year. There's
- 31:53Speaker 1: so many, so many teams in the SEC. I'm an lsu.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Obviously we have a new head coach. Y'all have a
- 31:58Speaker 1: highly tuted head coach coming in. So what are the
- 32:01Speaker 1: what kind of realistic expectations to Florida fans have for
- 32:04Speaker 1: this year?
- 32:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, obviously, at the end of the day,
- 32:07Speaker 6: all that really matters is wins and losses. But like
- 32:10Speaker 6: you can look at the way people handle an off season,
- 32:12Speaker 6: how they retain your players, how they're raising money, how
- 32:16Speaker 6: they're dealing with the media. And I'm telling you some
- 32:18Speaker 6: roll has been an a plus.
- 32:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:21Speaker 6: You know, if there was like a secret list of
- 32:23Speaker 6: crazy Gator fans that had like their ten biggest concerns,
- 32:25Speaker 6: like one by one, he's just knocking those things out.
- 32:28Speaker 4: So I'm really excited.
- 32:29Speaker 6: I was actually a privilege to be invited to be
- 32:33Speaker 6: on the search committee. So with the athletic director, we
- 32:35Speaker 6: interviewed all the coaches and got to know your coach
- 32:38Speaker 6: pretty well in that process and it's really fascinating experience.
- 32:41Speaker 6: And at the end of the day, I mean, we
- 32:44Speaker 6: are thrilled.
- 32:45Speaker 4: To have some roll, you know.
- 32:46Speaker 6: I think he did a great job bringing in the coordinators.
- 32:49Speaker 6: Really excited about Buster Faulkner and what he can do,
- 32:52Speaker 6: and hopefully we'll be right up there with the big voice.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Oh there you go.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Now, one thing that's not going to happen this year
- 32:57Speaker 3: that we're sad about no LSU Florida, and that game
- 33:00Speaker 3: has been played. People don't realize this, I don't think, Danny.
- 33:03Speaker 3: It's been played since the seventies. Every year it's been
- 33:05Speaker 3: the West versus East. It's been the opponent that you
- 33:08Speaker 3: always knew was gonna be on the schedule and it
- 33:09Speaker 3: was going to mean something. Now you probably got a
- 33:11Speaker 3: different experience because y'all had some success against LSU. But
- 33:14Speaker 3: like for us when we were playing, if you won
- 33:17Speaker 3: that game you were gonna win a national championship, almost
- 33:19Speaker 3: like it had that kind of stakes to it. And
- 33:21Speaker 3: so we're gonna miss that game, and we're gonna, you know,
- 33:23Speaker 3: hope that it finds its way back to the schedule.
- 33:25Speaker 3: But for you, what's your best memory playing against LSU?
- 33:29Speaker 4: Man? We we had four good, good memories.
- 33:32Speaker 6: But my freshman year, I just got the starting job
- 33:34Speaker 6: as a freshman. I got there and actually had a
- 33:36Speaker 6: backspasm on Friday, and I couldn't bend over, I couldn't
- 33:40Speaker 6: go to team dinner, I couldn't go to the movie.
- 33:43Speaker 6: They gave me some shot, first shot I ever had.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Felt better.
- 33:46Speaker 6: I went in and uh, you know, they said LSU
- 33:49Speaker 6: at night Saturday night was going to be crazy through
- 33:51Speaker 6: four touchdowns in the first half.
- 33:53Speaker 4: And I know exactly we're talking good night.
- 33:55Speaker 6: So that one, that one was, it was a pretty
- 33:58Speaker 6: good memory. The first visit in high school I ever
- 34:01Speaker 6: took was an unofficial visit l s U my sophomore year. Yeah,
- 34:07Speaker 6: and I never knew college like that before. When a
- 34:11Speaker 6: young woman named Lacey invited us into the room where
- 34:14Speaker 6: the recruits go and if they would offered me a
- 34:16Speaker 6: scholarship right.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Then, I'd have been alia. I've never seen anyone and.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Put their best foot fort know what they're doing. That's
- 34:24Speaker 1: great soday. So what is how involved are you in
- 34:28Speaker 1: the game and you just kind of you talked about
- 34:29Speaker 1: being involved in the head coaching search, but how involved
- 34:32Speaker 1: are you now with with the university and just football
- 34:35Speaker 1: in general a bit?
- 34:37Speaker 6: You know, I'm real busy with with the different nonprofit
- 34:39Speaker 6: things that we do, but try to be plugged in.
- 34:42Speaker 6: You know, my oldest son just graduated from Florida. My
- 34:46Speaker 6: next son is in Gainesville. My daughter who's in high
- 34:48Speaker 6: school wants to go, so that kind of gets us
- 34:50Speaker 6: there more often. And then being connected with the with
- 34:53Speaker 6: this coach and the team a bit. So nothing super official,
- 34:58Speaker 6: you know, we do uh we We kind of help
- 34:59Speaker 6: support a character Man of the Month on the team,
- 35:02Speaker 6: which has been exciting to be a part of that.
- 35:04Speaker 6: And then just I try to stay in touch with
- 35:07Speaker 6: the quarterbacks. I have relationships with a lot of the
- 35:10Speaker 6: people and just try to be an encouragement from a distance.
- 35:12Speaker 4: There you go.
- 35:12Speaker 3: I know, also, like you have a trophy that is,
- 35:15Speaker 3: you know, after your name, Warfel trophy obviously that's a
- 35:17Speaker 3: big deal as well. For our listeners, like tell them
- 35:21Speaker 3: what that means, like when you are on that list,
- 35:23Speaker 3: And I believe what Weeks is on that list from
- 35:25Speaker 3: LSU one of our favorites. I mean like every time
- 35:27Speaker 3: we get a chance to talk with it, we're gonna
- 35:29Speaker 3: have him on what is the trophy? What does it
- 35:31Speaker 3: mean to you to have that and kind of what
- 35:33Speaker 3: are you looking for.
- 35:34Speaker 4: Well, when the group.
- 35:35Speaker 6: Twenty years ago wanted to do it, I said, there's
- 35:37Speaker 6: too many awards. We don't the last thing we need
- 35:39Speaker 6: is another award. But they're like, no, this isn't about
- 35:41Speaker 6: touchdowns or yards. It's about service, which got my attention.
- 35:46Speaker 6: And so we've been doing this it's a community service
- 35:48Speaker 6: award for twenty years. And then three years ago we
- 35:51Speaker 6: partnered with All State. You know they have the All
- 35:53Speaker 6: State a FCA Good Works Team, right, So we've kind
- 35:55Speaker 6: of merged these programs where like the eleven Division War
- 36:00Speaker 6: one All State Good Works Team will be the semi
- 36:02Speaker 6: finalist for the Warfel Trophy, and then the winner of
- 36:05Speaker 6: the All State Warflo Trophy will be the captain of
- 36:07Speaker 6: the Good Works Team.
- 36:08Speaker 4: So we're kind of.
- 36:09Speaker 6: Connected and just this week we announced the one hundred
- 36:12Speaker 6: and sixty three nominees for this and again, for me,
- 36:16Speaker 6: what's cool about it is you're highlighting you know, so
- 36:20Speaker 6: often when the players get highlighted, it's either the best player.
- 36:23Speaker 4: On the best team or somebody who did something stupid.
- 36:26Speaker 6: So this case, we're saying, no, there's great guys all
- 36:29Speaker 6: over the country, and when you know, even adults, but
- 36:32Speaker 6: especially when kids see that these guys, that their heroes
- 36:35Speaker 6: are spending countless hours serving others.
- 36:38Speaker 4: You know, Weeks has done a lot.
- 36:40Speaker 6: Yeah, they're in Baton Rouge and recently helped renovate a
- 36:44Speaker 6: room in a hospital for kids and many many other things.
- 36:47Speaker 6: He's just one of again one hundred and sixty three
- 36:49Speaker 6: that have been nominated.
- 36:50Speaker 4: It's awesome.
- 36:51Speaker 1: It kind of goes like the old saying for just
- 36:54Speaker 1: news reporting, if it bleeds, it leads like there's a
- 36:56Speaker 1: lot of negative in college football to report on. I mean,
- 36:59Speaker 1: there's all sorts of mess with the calendar and the
- 37:02Speaker 1: gamble and like all you can talk about all sorts
- 37:04Speaker 1: of things. And in the nil world, there's enough content
- 37:07Speaker 1: up there to fill the radio waves at TV stations,
- 37:10Speaker 1: and what gets lost a lot of times is the
- 37:12Speaker 1: positive works that guys do in the community. So that's
- 37:15Speaker 1: awesome that the award and people do get recognized, and
- 37:19Speaker 1: we need to talk about that more.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:20Speaker 6: Well, that's why we do it, and it's been great
- 37:22Speaker 6: to partner with All State in it.
- 37:23Speaker 3: And you started a lot of your nonprofit and your
- 37:26Speaker 3: things you did outside of football in New Orleans.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean when you were playing for the Saints.
- 37:30Speaker 6: Yeah, I got involved with Desire Street Ministry. So I
- 37:33Speaker 6: was there and I'm still the executive director. We work
- 37:37Speaker 6: in neighborhoods all over the country now and it's going great.
- 37:40Speaker 6: We actually had a presence in Baton Rouge for a
- 37:43Speaker 6: while after Katrina. We had some kids there. So I've
- 37:46Speaker 6: spent a lot of time in Baton Rouge and have
- 37:48Speaker 6: a lot of friends and great memories there as well,
- 37:51Speaker 6: and a few good memories on the field, as we already.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Talked about about. I was just d I was just
- 37:55Speaker 4: about to say.
- 37:55Speaker 3: When he says Baton Rouge, he gets a glee in
- 37:57Speaker 3: his eye. He was doing the incredible stuff off the field,
- 38:01Speaker 3: but he also remembers the four touchdowns in one half.
- 38:03Speaker 4: I'll get tell. I'll can tell.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Hey, look, if Danny warfol was twenty one years old
- 38:09Speaker 1: right now, in the year twenty twenty six, would you
- 38:13Speaker 1: ever think about entering the transfer portal?
- 38:16Speaker 6: Well, not during my career there, although it is interesting.
- 38:20Speaker 6: I just told somebody the quarterback last year at Florida
- 38:23Speaker 6: made more money in college that I made in my
- 38:25Speaker 6: entire NFL career.
- 38:26Speaker 1: It's insane, that's it.
- 38:27Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, that's great. Yeah, six years at the high level,
- 38:31Speaker 4: that doesn't really matter. And let me make more than
- 38:32Speaker 4: one year real quick, exactly.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Say you can have the best season of your life
- 38:36Speaker 1: and you can just go be a free agent after that.
- 38:38Speaker 4: Yeah, they're kidding.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 38:40Speaker 4: It is wild, Danny. We appreciate you hopping on with us.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Like I said, we've heard so many great stories about
- 38:44Speaker 3: you from Chris Doring, one of our very good friends.
- 38:47Speaker 3: They're all true, and we appreciate your time.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Hey, thanks, guys, today you actually weren't absolutely appreciate it.

- 39:58Speaker 2: Football Media Days in Tampa presented by FMOL Health our
- 40:01Speaker 2: Lady of the Lake Relief Windows, Red Fiber and Farrish
- 40:05Speaker 2: Construction and Roofing.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Sure all right, welcome back in OTB here live from
- 40:40Speaker 3: SEC Media Days, Tampa, Florida. Just had Danny Warfel Florida
- 40:46Speaker 3: legend on the show.
- 40:48Speaker 4: There he did it. He did tear l s u up. Yeah,
- 40:53Speaker 4: good night.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Was that faireness Lshi? Wouldn't they?
- 40:56Speaker 4: I mean no, they're bad bad.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Was it ninety two that he because I remember being
- 40:59Speaker 3: a little lad and being like.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Oh he wore a fulk. Yeah, but the touchdown if
- 41:05Speaker 1: it wasn't.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Baylor, I wouldn't really him. I think it was ninety two.
- 41:09Speaker 4: I could be in ninety three. Maybe I don't really know.
- 41:12Speaker 4: I just know it made me very angry because I
- 41:14Speaker 4: kept going touchdown.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I do know that our headset is like flaking off,
- 41:18Speaker 1: like the materials flaking off. And when Danny got up,
- 41:21Speaker 1: he had a little piece of our headset on his cheek. Yeah,
- 41:24Speaker 1: so joke's on you, Danny jokes you, Danny Boyer. We
- 41:27Speaker 1: he won the battle in the nineties, We won.
- 41:29Speaker 4: The We won the war.
- 41:30Speaker 1: In the twenty twenty six, we put we put headphone
- 41:35Speaker 1: leather on his cheek.
- 41:36Speaker 3: You know, Danny started talking about all the things that
- 41:38Speaker 3: he's doing, and I knew he was doing a ton
- 41:40Speaker 3: in the community, and he's done a ton in the
- 41:42Speaker 3: state of Louisiana as he mentioned there. You know, as
- 41:44Speaker 3: he was talking, I was like, man, this guy hangs
- 41:46Speaker 3: out with Doring.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Not the same guy? What? Not the same.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Guy, but very it's very very cool. And like I
- 41:56Speaker 3: said that him and Douring had that relationship, and it
- 42:00Speaker 3: is like it is so true, Like a championship does
- 42:03Speaker 3: kind of put like that final bond on who you
- 42:06Speaker 3: keep up with, who you talk with. And they were
- 42:09Speaker 3: able to win one in Florida the year after my.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Guy CD left. So I don't know if you remember
- 42:16Speaker 4: this game. Tommy Fraser Nebraska.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Oh well beat the breaks off of Florida in the
- 42:23Speaker 3: National championship game. Florida was putting up points on everyone everyone,
- 42:29Speaker 3: and Tommy Fraser and Nebraska ran the option right at them.
- 42:33Speaker 4: They could he just scored again.
- 42:34Speaker 1: In fact, when I was I think going into my
- 42:37Speaker 1: either eighth grade year, maybe it was my ninth grade,
- 42:40Speaker 1: I went to Baylor football camp in the summer and
- 42:45Speaker 1: Tommy Fraser was the running backs coach. That was one
- 42:49Speaker 1: of the first times I remember ever like going, huh,
- 42:53Speaker 1: that's like almost being stars Trek is like an eighth
- 42:56Speaker 1: grader seeing Tommy Fraser because I loved watching orn Uscis
- 43:00Speaker 1: played back in the day. I don't remember that specific
- 43:03Speaker 1: game you're talking about, certainly, but.
- 43:05Speaker 3: You would have been that would have been seeing ninety
- 43:07Speaker 3: watch five. That'd have been ninety five, so he'd have
- 43:10Speaker 3: been ten years old.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Uh huh, all right, it's a pretty big one, Danny.
- 43:15Speaker 1: He might have been a transfer portal though he command.
- 43:17Speaker 1: He would have commanded a if he played, if he's
- 43:19Speaker 1: played as a freshman, he would have commanded a big paycheck.
- 43:22Speaker 4: That's true, that's true.
- 43:24Speaker 3: I don't I don't believe that that My father would
- 43:27Speaker 3: have let me enter the transfer portal.
- 43:28Speaker 4: And I mean that like for real, for real.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Like I don't think he'd have been like, no, he
- 43:34Speaker 3: made a commitment, we're gonna stay here.
- 43:37Speaker 4: But Dad, I don't care. There's no butts, Like that's
- 43:39Speaker 4: the way he would have been, Dad, you know what
- 43:42Speaker 4: I mean. And you can say, well, times are different
- 43:44Speaker 4: now he ain't. He's he's seventy. He's still the same.
- 43:47Speaker 3: No, d like I just don't think he would have
- 43:50Speaker 3: let me do it now again too. I went to
- 43:52Speaker 3: my dream school, grew up watching growing up around it,
- 43:55Speaker 3: so it was gonna be tough for me to go anywhere.
- 43:57Speaker 4: I know, not everybody's like that.
- 43:59Speaker 3: I know not everyverybody grew up in Louisiana, but it
- 44:02Speaker 3: had like the one school they wanted to go. I mean, you're,
- 44:03Speaker 3: like you did grow up wanting to go to l Issue.
- 44:06Speaker 3: So I know every situation is different.
- 44:08Speaker 1: But so Danny was talking about how he was part
- 44:11Speaker 1: of the committee that was able to hire and choose
- 44:15Speaker 1: John Summerl as the next head coach, and it just
- 44:17Speaker 1: got me thinking, when maybe closer to thirty year reunion,
- 44:22Speaker 1: maybe we're on a committee one day.
- 44:25Speaker 3: I'm gonna be honest with you. I tried like hell
- 44:27Speaker 3: to get on it this year, to get on this time,
- 44:29Speaker 3: Like guys, I know all of these guys from interviewing
- 44:32Speaker 3: them over the years, let me be on the committee.
- 44:34Speaker 4: And I do gotta say they listened to me.
- 44:36Speaker 3: I wasn't never put on a committee, but at least
- 44:39Speaker 3: I had an ear. I had an ear, not too
- 44:41Speaker 3: but I had an ear not cool enough to be
- 44:43Speaker 3: on the committee, like Danny warfol But oh yeah, he
- 44:45Speaker 3: went a heisman.
- 44:46Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure he did.
- 44:47Speaker 1: I want to be cool enough one day to say
- 44:48Speaker 1: I was on a committee. I don't even really care
- 44:51Speaker 1: what it is.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Do you want to be on the low Man committee
- 44:53Speaker 3: for the nation's best fullback?
- 44:55Speaker 4: Sure? I can put you on there.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it can't be hard to choose.
- 45:00Speaker 3: I don't know, there's one of four people that you
- 45:01Speaker 3: got to really break down.
- 45:05Speaker 1: I don't have to study too much. I can watch
- 45:07Speaker 1: Jerry Ted. I can watch thirteen minutes of film and
- 45:09Speaker 1: figure out who the best fullback is. Now do we
- 45:13Speaker 1: judge it based on? Like what do we judge fullbacks
- 45:15Speaker 1: on this day and age?
- 45:18Speaker 4: See, we only have fifteen seconds and this is like
- 45:20Speaker 4: a song.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Okay, well let's get into it. Let's rip it.
- 45:25Speaker 4: That's why the people are listening. Or breakdown a fullbacks
- 45:28Speaker 4: coming up next? Off the bench? All right, go see
- 45:36Speaker 4: our friends over at rejuve Me.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Rejud me medical dot com is the website and we
- 45:43Speaker 3: want you to know. Okay, so we talk about all
- 45:44Speaker 3: the time, if you want your first step back, if
- 45:46Speaker 3: you want to feel like your youthful self, like all
- 45:48Speaker 3: that stuff is true, But The thing we want to
- 45:50Speaker 3: make sure that we hammer home about all of that
- 45:53Speaker 3: is how easy and quick the process is. You go
- 45:55Speaker 3: in after you schedule it, and you're gonna have five
- 45:58Speaker 3: ten minutes getting blood were done again. I had Harlowe
- 46:01Speaker 3: on my lap as I was getting my blood drawn.
- 46:03Speaker 3: Incredibly easy. And then after about a week, right, they're
- 46:07Speaker 3: gonna get the lab results back and they're going to
- 46:09Speaker 3: look at your results, and you're gonna go back in
