- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, you guys. It's time for John Jay and
- 0:02Speaker 1: Rich Lovecourt. Cut my life into pieces. This is my
- 0:07Speaker 1: last resort. Hey, I'm using the wrong song.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I know.
- 0:10Speaker 1: I was like, what's happening? All right, guys. It's time
- 0:14Speaker 1: for Lovecourt. Raise your hand.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Take your oaths.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Listeners, volume up.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Eyes on the road.
- 0:22Speaker 1: It's John Jay and Rich Lovecourt. We did this last week,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and now people want us to participate in their lives
- 0:32Speaker 1: and make decisions for their relationships. If you want to
- 0:34Speaker 1: participate in Love Court, shoot us a DM, John G.
- 0:36Speaker 1: and Rich, on Instagram. So we got Brandon and Melissa
- 0:40Speaker 1: on the line, husband and wife. Good morning, you guys.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Good morning. Brandon is bringing his wife, Melissa, to Love
- 0:46Speaker 1: Court because she's threatening to spend Halloween weekend at her
- 0:50Speaker 1: mother's house.
- 0:51Speaker 4: No, she is not.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Unless he takes down his Halloween decorations.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Brandon loves Halloween. Every October, he turns their home
- 1:02Speaker 1: into a full-blown haunted house. Fog machines, animatronics, creepy dolls,
- 1:07Speaker 1: the whole nine yards, right? That sounds fun. Yeah, that
- 1:10Speaker 1: sounds like a good time. This year, he's taking things
- 1:13Speaker 1: to another level. He installed a motion-activated clown in their
- 1:16Speaker 1: hallway that screams when someone walks past.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 1:19Speaker 1: He got so scared one night, she dropped an entire
- 1:21Speaker 1: pan of pasta.
- 1:22Speaker 5: No!
- 1:25Speaker 1: Oh, what a waste. He's replaced her Alexa's morning alarm
- 1:28Speaker 1: with a recording of a woman whispering, I can see you.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Last week, Melissa woke up at 2 a.m. to find
- 1:35Speaker 1: a life-size mannequin standing next to the bed wearing her
- 1:39Speaker 1: wedding dress. Oh, my gosh, no. She's so terrified she
- 1:43Speaker 1: called 911 because she thought someone broke into their house.
- 1:45Speaker 1: So Brandon thinks this is all hilarious. Melissa says it's
- 1:47Speaker 1: ruining his favorite holiday. Melissa says she's tired of being
- 1:52Speaker 1: afraid to walk around her own home. So the debate
- 1:54Speaker 1: is this. Is Melissa overreacting to some harmless Halloween fun,
- 1:59Speaker 1: or is Brandon taking his obsession way too far? Love
- 2:03Speaker 1: Pride is officially in session.
- 2:04Speaker 6: Okay, I've already decided.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I'm on Team Brandon. I've already decided. Objection, Your Honor.
- 2:09Speaker 1: This is where couples bring their relationship drama to us.
- 2:12Speaker 1: We decide who's right, who's wrong, who's completely out of
- 2:15Speaker 1: their mind. Today, we got Brandon and Melissa. They've been
- 2:17Speaker 1: married for four years. Brandon, you're the one bringing this
- 2:20Speaker 1: case to court. What's going on?
- 2:22Speaker 2: OK, so Halloween, it's my favorite holiday. It always has been.
- 2:26Speaker 2: And my wife is trying to ruin it. Every year
- 2:30Speaker 2: I go I go all out decorating the house. You know,
- 2:32Speaker 2: people will will drive by from like other neighborhoods just
- 2:35Speaker 2: to see what we've done with the place, you know.
- 2:38Speaker 2: And this year she has decided that she's had enough
- 2:42Speaker 2: and she's threatening to move in with her mom unless
- 2:44Speaker 2: I take everything down.
- 2:46Speaker 1: To move in?
- 2:47Speaker 4: Are you kidding?
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Like, it's October.
- 2:51Speaker 1: She knew who I.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Was when she married me.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:53Speaker 2: And she knows how much I love Halloween, and she
- 2:55Speaker 2: knows that this month is supposed to be scary. And now, now,
- 2:59Speaker 2: out of the blue, she's acting like I'm some kind
- 3:01Speaker 2: of psychopath because I'm having a little fun with Halloween.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And, Brandon, if I may... Order! Order!
- 3:06Speaker 3: Order!
- 3:07Speaker 1: No. You may not.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Order in the corner.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Not yet. You may not.
- 3:10Speaker 3: You may not. You may not.
- 3:12Speaker 5: You may not.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Um, yeah, I mean, you know, I, I work hard
- 3:16Speaker 2: all year and, and this is, this is my, I
- 3:20Speaker 2: don't know. It's not my Superbowl, but you know, it's,
- 3:22Speaker 2: it's my Superbowl. It's my, it's my Christmas. It's, it's,
- 3:25Speaker 2: it's every, it's every holiday rolled into one. This is,
- 3:27Speaker 2: this is my thing. You know, it's what I look
- 3:29Speaker 2: forward to. And I think it is absolutely ridiculous that
- 3:33Speaker 2: my wife is giving me, uh, uh, an ultimatum over,
- 3:38Speaker 2: over Halloween decorations.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Okay. Melissa, the defense go on.
- 3:44Speaker 6: First of all, I have to say I personally also
- 3:47Speaker 6: love Halloween. But there is a difference between decorating your
- 3:52Speaker 6: house for Halloween and psychologically torturing your wife. I mean,
- 3:59Speaker 6: I am a 29-year-old woman who is genuinely afraid to
- 4:04Speaker 6: be home alone because.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Of my own husband.
- 4:06Speaker 4: And what is he doing?
- 4:08Speaker 6: And the worst part is he knows how much this
- 4:10Speaker 6: stuff scares me. And it just gets worse every year.
- 4:13Speaker 6: And he literally, he waits for me to get home
- 4:15Speaker 6: from work just to see what my reaction is to
- 4:18Speaker 6: whatever new nightmare he's created. I've caught him watching the
- 4:23Speaker 6: security camera footage that we have for our house. He's
- 4:26Speaker 6: watching the footage of me screaming and laughing.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Objection, you're wrong.
- 4:34Speaker 4: My emotional trauma is entertainment. You know, like... It's.
- 4:40Speaker 6: It's torture. And it's not just me. Like my own
- 4:42Speaker 6: mother refuses also to come over.
- 4:44Speaker 4: And our neighbors think that there was like something seriously
- 4:48Speaker 4: wrong with us. I haven't had a.
- 4:49Speaker 6: Decent night's sleep in weeks.
- 4:54Speaker 4: It's like I have to mentally prepare myself to walk
- 4:56Speaker 4: into the bedroom. So I'm not asking him to give up.
- 5:01Speaker 6: Halloween or stop decorating.
- 5:02Speaker 4: I'm just asking him to stop making me the main
- 5:06Speaker 4: attraction in his haunted house. It feels very personalized to me.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Can I jump in here?
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yes, please. Go ahead. Okay.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So, look, like, Mel, you have to admit that the
- 5:18Speaker 2: wedding dress thing, it was creative, right? Like, it was
- 5:20Speaker 2: a ton of fun.
- 5:20Speaker 4: The wedding dress thing, Brandon, I thought I was about
- 5:23Speaker 4: to be murdered with that mannequin.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It was a ton of fun. It was a mannequin.
- 5:28Speaker 2: It didn't move. It was just standing there.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Right, but why was it wearing my wedding dress, right?
- 5:32Speaker 4: My wedding dress.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Right, because it fits the haunted bride theme that we're
- 5:36Speaker 2: doing this year.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 5:40Speaker 6: Am I haunted? Me becoming your ex-wife would fit the.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Theme of being haunted, right?
- 5:46Speaker 6: Oh, come on.
- 5:49Speaker 2: You don't like that. It's just a few weeks.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Okay, so why did you order a coffin with my
- 5:57Speaker 4: name on it?
- 5:58Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, Brandon.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Because it was customizable and you get a discount. If
- 6:03Speaker 2: you do the customization, I'm saving money. That's like a bonus.
- 6:08Speaker 5: And he's already ahead of the game for years down
- 6:09Speaker 5: the road when you actually die.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Thank you. Right, so it's a good time on my
- 6:13Speaker 2: future funeral. No, it's a prop. Like, that's all it is.
- 6:18Speaker 1: It's just a prop.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Again, on to bride scene. Cough in with your neighbor.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Okay, okay, order, order. What the hell is going on here?
- 6:26Speaker 3: Your mom just got served.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Serve?
- 6:28Speaker 6: I haven't even ordered yet.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Order! Cheeseburger, please. Order. Okay, order in the court. We're
- 6:34Speaker 1: going to go around the room. Order in the court.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Is Brandon entitled to go all out for his favorite holiday,
- 6:40Speaker 1: or is Melissa justified in demanding he take down the
- 6:44Speaker 1: decoration because he's gone too far? One at a time.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Rich Bear, I know you've been chomping at the bit.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Well, if I were the good King Solomon, the wise
- 6:51Speaker 5: King Solomon, I would have to say we have to
- 6:53Speaker 5: meet in the middle. And follow what Melissa says. Go
- 6:56Speaker 5: all out on Halloween since your favorite holiday. But I
- 6:59Speaker 5: am off limits for scaring now. You've had your fun.
- 7:01Speaker 5: You've used my dress. So we draw the line. It's
- 7:05Speaker 5: scaring the wife. But let him have his Halloween. And
- 7:08Speaker 5: then I would say stay and not go over to
- 7:10Speaker 5: your mom's house. Your mom sounds like a party pooper.
- 7:12Speaker 5: What happened when you were all team Brandon in the beginning?
- 7:15Speaker 1: The whole time. I love Melissa Brandon.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Defense most court cases you hear the whole court case
- 7:21Speaker 5: and you oh so you.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Jumped in too soon interesting okay i wish i oh
- 7:25Speaker 1: i wish i had a legal term for it the
- 7:26Speaker 1: merit but okay all right you're you've stated your case
- 7:31Speaker 1: go ahead as far as the jury goes peyton go
- 7:33Speaker 1: ahead I.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Would like to rule in favor of Brandon. I feel
- 7:36Speaker 3: like it's only one time a year that you got
- 7:39Speaker 3: to be on your toes. And I would just say, hey,
- 7:41Speaker 3: post that video camera footage on the Internet. You'll probably
- 7:44Speaker 3: go viral and maybe make a buck off of it.
- 7:46Speaker 1: All right. Jura Kyle on foot.
- 7:49Speaker 7: Okay, Brandon, you said something that really got me. You said,
- 7:54Speaker 7: she knew who I was when she married me, which
- 7:58Speaker 7: is a phrase my husband and I use a lot
- 8:00Speaker 7: with each other. However, what's happening now is not what
- 8:03Speaker 7: you were when she married you, because she says you
- 8:07Speaker 7: up it every year. So if you want to scare,
- 8:09Speaker 7: you have to revert to four years.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Ago, scaredge.
- 8:14Speaker 7: If it's fair, if she knew who you were. So
- 8:17Speaker 7: I am in favor of Melissa. You cannot use her
- 8:21Speaker 7: as your scaring punching bag because what's going to happen
- 8:24Speaker 7: is she is going to start hating you.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And I know you do not want that. Okay. I agree.
- 8:31Speaker 1: With Kyle and Rich. I think you guys are both
- 8:34Speaker 1: the same thing. You gotta compromise. You can't do that.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You can't do that to your wife. And I say that,
- 8:38Speaker 1: I speak from my own, you know, it's like if
- 8:40Speaker 1: I was a judge and they were really investigating me,
- 8:42Speaker 1: they'd know that my wife is, remember you guys in
- 8:44Speaker 1: my house with the chainsaw? Very true. Well, yeah, Suzette. Yeah, no,
- 8:47Speaker 1: but Grant came in with the chainsaw. Oh, Grant came
- 8:49Speaker 1: in with the chainsaw. Twice, we skewed you twice. And
- 8:51Speaker 1: I said, after twice being scared in my house, I said,
- 8:53Speaker 1: you know, this is my home. I said, I need
- 8:55Speaker 1: to be able to walk around peacefully and not be worried.
- 8:58Speaker 1: That's true. In my home. Because what if something bad happens?
- 9:00Speaker 1: That's right.
- 9:01Speaker 5: Right?
- 9:01Speaker 1: So I, if you go with me with the, what
- 9:04Speaker 1: is it called? Jury duty?
- 9:05Speaker 3: Your gavel.
- 9:06Speaker 1: The John J. Rich Love Court. Love Court. Love Court.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Exactly what Rich said. Word for word. So Rich, you
- 9:13Speaker 1: be the judge now. You say what you just said. Okay, Brandon.
- 9:16Speaker 5: So, outside of the house, scare the kids, ratchet it up,
- 9:20Speaker 5: buy all the things.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 9:22Speaker 5: Inside of the house, Melissa's scares are now off limits.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Yeah. And if you do scare her, she gets to
- 9:26Speaker 1: sleep with your best friend.
- 9:28Speaker 2: What? What?
- 9:28Speaker 7: Okay.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Okay. Okay.
- 9:32Speaker 4: What does it mean to bring in the dancing lobsters?
- 9:38Speaker 1: And bring your jukebox money. All right, you guys. Do
- 9:47Speaker 1: you agree to those terms, Melissa?
- 9:49Speaker 4: Oh, my God, absolutely.
- 9:50Speaker 6: If we can go back.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Like I said, I love Halloween. So if we can
- 9:55Speaker 4: go back to just the decorations and scaring, like, in
- 9:59Speaker 4: the normal way.
- 10:00Speaker 6: That's great.
- 10:01Speaker 1: All right.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:03Speaker 7: And Brandon will abide by said verdict.
- 10:06Speaker 1: We are in recess.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Well, I just want to make sure I heard the
- 10:09Speaker 2: verdict correctly and that I understand the technical limitations of it.
- 10:14Speaker 2: That what you said is that all in-house scares are off-limits, correct?
- 10:18Speaker 1: I think your wife should be off-limits.
- 10:20Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 10:20Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 10:21Speaker 5: You're right. I hear you.
- 10:27Speaker 2: But, you know, sometimes incidental scares happen outside. There is
- 10:31Speaker 2: no buts.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Brandon, just do it. No buts. Court is officially over. Court,
- 10:37Speaker 1: this is in recess. And then what they do at
- 10:39Speaker 1: the end, it's recess, right? No, it's court adjourned. Court adjourned,
- 10:42Speaker 1: that's it. Court adjourned, you guys. And that is Love Court,
- 10:45Speaker 1: you guys. Love Court with Jackie and Rich. Again, shoot
- 10:47Speaker 1: us a DM if you want to be on Love Court.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Love Court. Love Court.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Love Court.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Love Shack!
- 10:59Speaker 3: Love Shack! Love Shack!
- 11:05Speaker 1: Love Shack!
- 11:06Speaker 3: It's John Jay and Rachel Love Shack!
