- 0:00Welcome back to Fostering Faith. I'm gonna be
- 0:02your host Tracie and we are already in the month
- 0:04of April. We are in month four of this beautiful
- 0:08year and this year is, our word this year is
- 0:11overflow. And so we have a word every year and
- 0:14that's what we focus on. And so overflow is our
- 0:17word of the year. And we are just overwhelmed
- 0:19by the goodness of God and what he's doing in
- 0:21our life. And so this month we are gonna be focusing
- 0:25on spiritual warfare and strength. And so in
- 0:28this episode we are going to be talking about
- 0:30the armor of God in real life. And so spiritual
- 0:34warfare is one of those topics I think Christians
- 0:36either avoid or obsess over. But scripture brings
- 0:40it right into the middle. Balanced, sober -minded,
- 0:44and powerful. And as we step into April we're
- 0:47stepping into something I believe every believer
- 0:49needs to understand. You're in a battle whether
- 0:52you want to be or not. And pretending the battle
- 0:54isn't happening doesn't make it go away. You
- 0:57don't have to be scared of it. You don't have
- 0:59to be intimidated by it or confused. You don't
- 1:02have to be overwhelmed because you're not fighting
- 1:04the victory for victory. You're fighting from
- 1:08victory. And Christ has already won it. You stand
- 1:12in that. You stand in the victory already. And
- 1:15so in this first episode, it's called the armor
- 1:17of God in real life. Not in theory, not in Sunday
- 1:21school form, not as a cute illustration, but
- 1:24as an everyday spiritual weapon that keeps you
- 1:26stable. steady, protected, standing when everything
- 1:30else around you feels like chaos. Because the
- 1:33enemy hates your identity, your calling, your
- 1:36peace, your competence, hates your spiritual
- 1:39growth that you have grown so much for because
- 1:41you're rooted in scripture over the last four
- 1:44months. Consistent obedience, your influence,
- 1:48he hates whenever you begin to walk in your purpose.
- 1:51So yes, this month matters. But God didn't leave
- 1:55you vulnerable. He didn't leave you exposed.
- 1:57He didn't send you into battle unarmed. He gave
- 1:59you armor. And not physical armor, but spiritual
- 2:03armor. Not external armor, but eternal armor.
- 2:09And not armor based on your strength. It's based
- 2:11on His. And so we have the reality of scripture
- 2:16says, Ephesians 6 12, for we wrestle not against
- 2:22flesh and blood. You're not fighting people,
- 2:26your bosses, your ex, your family, your spouse,
- 2:31your kids, your teachers that you don't like,
- 2:35people who hurt you, and not even yourself. The
- 2:39real battle is spiritual, unseen forces, lies,
- 2:42intimidation, accusations, discouragement, anxiety,
- 2:45fear, temptations, distractions, breakdowns of
- 2:48focus, emotional heaviness, deception. Spiritual
- 2:51fatigue. The enemy's goal isn't and wasn't always
- 2:55to break you. Sometimes it's just to wear you
- 2:57down. But God is not passive. He equips you.
- 3:02And the armor in Ephesians 6, 13 through 18 outlines
- 3:05six pieces of armor. But I want to break it down
- 3:08to you and would love to teach you ways that
- 3:11we can actually feel them in everyday battles.
- 3:15And so we have the belt of truth. Truth holds
- 3:18everything together. A belt is not decorative.
- 3:21It's foundational. Truth is what keeps everything
- 3:24from falling apart. In real life, the belt of
- 3:28truth means you fight lies with scripture. You
- 3:33anchor to what God says, not to feelings. You
- 3:37refuse to build your life on cultural trends.
- 3:40You stay rooted in the word. You don't drift
- 3:42with emotions. You don't negotiate truth when
- 3:45things get tough. and you refuse to let the enemy
- 3:47rewrite your identity. And without truth, everything
- 3:51collapses. Truth is stability. Truth is clarity.
- 3:56Truth is your anchor. Truth is your mental protection.
- 4:01When you feel confused, you get truth. Whenever
- 4:04you feel lost, we have truth. Whenever we have
- 4:08insecurity, we have truth. And when the enemy
- 4:10whispers, we have truth. Truth is the first piece
- 4:15Everything else depends on. And then we have
- 4:18a breastplate of righteousness. Righteousness
- 4:21protects your heart. Your heart is the center
- 4:23of your emotions, your desires, your decisions,
- 4:27meaning it's the biggest target of spiritual
- 4:29warfare. Righteousness is not perfection. Righteousness
- 4:32is position. And when you put on righteousness,
- 4:36you're declaring, I'm not covered by the blood
- 4:39of Jesus. I'm forgiven. I am made right with
- 4:43God. Shame does not own me. Condemnation is not
- 4:47my identity. And my heart is protected. The enemy
- 4:50uses guilt, shame, and condemnation to break
- 4:53your confidence, to make you hide from God, silence
- 4:57your prayer life, sabotage your obedience, and
- 5:00keep you stuck in old patterns. But righteousness?
- 5:03Break that. And that's why we had our Identity
- 5:05Month in March. And if you've not listened to
- 5:07March, go back and listen to them. And that's
- 5:10why it became before the Warfare Month. Righteousness
- 5:14is your shield against shame. And we have shoes
- 5:18of peace. Peace is our stability. Roman soldiers
- 5:21wore shoes that had spikes on the bottom of them
- 5:23to plant their feet so firmly that nothing could
- 5:26push them back. So peace is not softness. Peace
- 5:29is strength. It is stability. It is unshakability.
- 5:34God's peace anchors you whenever anxiety rises,
- 5:37whenever emotion is overwhelmed. Whenever bad
- 5:41news hits, whenever the future feels uncertain,
- 5:43whenever you feel spiritual pressure, circumstances
- 5:46shift, people betray you, you feel spiritually
- 5:49exhausted. Peace is not the absence of conflict.
- 5:53Peace is the presence of God in the conflict.
- 5:56The enemy wants you rattled and overwhelmed,
- 5:59emotionally unstable, mentally spiraling, restless,
- 6:03panicking, doubting, frantic. Because a believer
- 6:06without peace is a believer who is easily manipulated,
- 6:11but the shoes of peace hold you where you're
- 6:15steady. And we have the shield of faith. And
- 6:18so faith extinguishes the enemy's attacks. The
- 6:21shield blocks what is thrown at you. Faith doesn't
- 6:24prevent the attack. Faith protects you in the
- 6:28attack. The enemy will throw doubt, discouragement,
- 6:32the what if thoughts, fear, insecurity, mental
- 6:34spirals and lies. But they says, I don't walk
- 6:38by sight. I walk by truth. I trust God whenever
- 6:42it looks impossible. And I believe what God says,
- 6:46not what fear says. Faith is not optimism. Faith
- 6:51is conviction. Faith isn't ignored reality. Faith
- 6:57refuses to bow to it. The helmet of salvation.
- 7:01The salvation that guards your mind. And so the
- 7:04helmet protects your thoughts. Every battle starts
- 7:07in the mind. And me and a friend were just listening
- 7:09to a podcast and it was saying that the mind
- 7:11controls the brain. And so every battle starts
- 7:15in the mind. And I had Joyce Meyers, she wrote
- 7:17a book, Battlefield of our Mind. And there's
- 7:20probably several other ones, but that's the one
- 7:22that I had read recent or that I had read a long
- 7:24time ago. And so fear filled thoughts, anxious
- 7:28thoughts, I'm not good enough thoughts, jealous
- 7:31thoughts, angry thoughts, discouraging thoughts,
- 7:33shameful thoughts, hopeless thoughts. Intrusive
- 7:37lies, overthinking, replaying past hurts. The
- 7:40helmet says, my mind belongs to God. My thoughts
- 7:44are not the enemy's playground. I have the mind
- 7:47of Christ. God renews my mind daily. And the
- 7:51battle is not won or lost in your thought life.
- 7:55So God protects it first. And then we have the
- 7:59sword of the spirit, the word of God. The word
- 8:02is your weapon. And every other piece is defensive.
- 8:07But this one is offensive. The Word is how Jesus
- 8:10defended Satan in the wilderness. He didn't say,
- 8:14I feel like God loves me. He said, it is written.
- 8:18Your feelings aren't a weapon. Your feelings
- 8:20aren't a weapon. Your opinions aren't a weapon.
- 8:24The Word is. The Word cuts through the lies.
- 8:28The Word silences the enemy. And the Word redirects
- 8:32your thoughts. The word strengthens your spirit.
- 8:35The word brings clarity whenever you feel confused.
- 8:38And the word gives power whenever you feel weak.
- 8:41A believer with no word is a believer with no
- 8:45weapon. And that's why it's so important to read
- 8:49scripture. To make sure that you know what's
- 8:53in Psalms. To make sure that you know who Esther
- 8:55is. And what did Nehemiah do? Who is this Jeremiah
- 8:57guy? What is this Proverbs about? Read it. Pick
- 9:01up a Bible. or download it on the YouVersion
- 9:03Bible app. It's free. Like there was over a billion
- 9:05Bibles out there. And how much time are you spending
- 9:08in the word? Whatever your TikTok timer runs
- 9:12off, don't bypass it. Put it down. God gave you
- 9:1624 hours in the day. How much time have you given
- 9:19him today? And so spiritual warfare in real life,
- 9:24spiritual warfare looks like sudden discouragement,
- 9:26unexpected fear, heaviness with no explanation.
- 9:29conflict that feels spiritual, confusion, temptation
- 9:34in old areas, emotional exhaustion, isolation,
- 9:39feeling spiritually numb, distraction during
- 9:42prayer, heightened insecurity, division in relationships,
- 9:47intimidation, mental fog, patterns returning
- 9:50from the past. This is why you need armor. This
- 9:54is why you need awareness. This is why you need
- 9:56strength. Warfare does not mean that you're weak.
- 10:00Warfare means that you are a threat. If you aren't
- 10:04dangerous, hell won't bother attacking you. And
- 10:09the armor is not something that you put on once.
- 10:12It's a lifestyle. You don't prey the armor on
- 10:17and walk away. You live it. Truth, your foundation.
- 10:22Righteousness, your protection. Peace, your stability.
- 10:27Faith is your shield. Salvation, your mindset.
- 10:31And the word is your weapon. The armor is not
- 10:35just poetry. It's strategy. And I'll be real
- 10:39honest. I say it most mornings. I literally go
- 10:44on and put my helmet on. I put my breastplate
- 10:46on. I put my belt on. I put my shoes on. And
- 10:48I walk through it. And so I know that I am prepared.
- 10:51Because I want to be the type of woman that whenever
- 10:53my feet hit the floor in the morning, the devil
- 10:55says, oh no, she's up. And so, I want to make
- 10:58sure that I am fully armed for the day. And so,
- 11:02your reflection for today. What part of the armor
- 11:05am I weakest in right now? Truth? Peace? Faith?
- 11:11Your thought life? Your confidence? Your grounding?
- 11:16What is it? Let the Holy Spirit show you. Sit
- 11:21at Jesus' feet and let Him teach you. And so,
- 11:26this week... We want you to pick one armor piece
- 11:29that you need most and practice it daily this
- 11:32week. For example, if peace is your weak spot,
- 11:37scriptures on peace. If faith is low, declarations
- 11:41of faith. If thoughts are under attack, renew
- 11:44your mind daily. And if truth feels distant,
- 11:48memorize scripture. This isn't homework. This
- 11:52is training. And so we hope that this message
- 11:56encouraged you. We hope that you are now aligned
- 11:59and you are well dressed for the war that we're
