- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:11Speaker 2: When people come up and they used to say to me,
- 0:13Speaker 2: you know, I've been listening to you for fifteen years. Oh,
- 0:15Speaker 2: thank you. That's very kind. Now when they go twenty
- 0:18Speaker 2: five years, I don't even let them do twenty five years.
- 0:21Speaker 2: As soon as they say, I've been listening to four
- 0:23Speaker 2: shut up on non instrument hearing it. Just shut up
- 0:27Speaker 2: and now handle on the news. Ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Here's Bill Handle.
- 0:34Speaker 2: KFI AM six forty handle here on a Monday morning.
- 0:40Speaker 2: It is the eighteenth day of May. Have you noticed, guys,
- 0:45Speaker 2: before I say hello, that promo just group came on
- 0:48Speaker 2: the air KFI guaranteed. Human who came up with that guaranteed?
- 0:56Speaker 1: I'm thinking it was corporate?
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I had to be certainly no one who is
- 1:00Speaker 2: a local or part of actually the cluster here or
- 1:05Speaker 2: certainly attacked attached to KFI.
- 1:08Speaker 1: All right, just an anti AI thing, Yeah.
- 1:11Speaker 2: It probably is. Probably just it does do a good
- 1:14Speaker 2: job of describing us, that's for sure. All right, Neil,
- 1:17Speaker 2: good morning to you on a Monday. Hi, Bill, Hey,
- 1:20Speaker 2: there you go, kno he oh, Will Coleswreiber Hello, bill Oh,
- 1:27Speaker 2: this is getting really good Amy, good morning, Hi bill Oh,
- 1:32Speaker 2: that's even better, all right, and the lovely and good
- 1:35Speaker 2: morning and good morning though. All right, there we go
- 1:39Speaker 2: and sounds so sweet. You should hear her after this show,
- 1:42Speaker 2: which she says to me and how she does it
- 1:44Speaker 2: all right, Yes, we have a lot going on. As
- 1:50Speaker 2: Amy said her, I think last break before we started
- 1:55Speaker 2: the news segment of the show. And let's see what
- 2:00Speaker 2: handle has to say about that. And that is what
- 2:03Speaker 2: the President said about Iran. Correct, yep, that you better
- 2:07Speaker 2: get going because if you don't, I'm going to give
- 2:10Speaker 2: you another timeline which I'm going to ignore. And if
- 2:14Speaker 2: you if I ignore that one, I'm going to give
- 2:16Speaker 2: you yet another timeline that you're going to ignore or
- 2:19Speaker 2: I'm going to ignore. Well, at some point, do people
- 2:22Speaker 2: still believe that we're going to bomb Iran? Any moment
- 2:26Speaker 2: that this timeline has to be met? Does anybody have
- 2:29Speaker 2: any any belief in it?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Was it Herbert Walker or w that had the line
- 2:34Speaker 1: in the sand?
- 2:37Speaker 2: I don't know who it is, but Obama certainly said
- 2:41Speaker 2: that if Saddam who's saying I think uses gas gas warfare.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Dead by then right?
- 2:49Speaker 2: No, no, I don't think so. No, I don't think
- 2:51Speaker 2: he was. It was Saddam Hussein was still alive, and
- 2:56Speaker 2: Barack Obama established a line in the sand that he
- 2:59Speaker 2: completely ignored it says if he didn't say it at all,
- 3:03Speaker 2: and he got uh got nail for that, and rightly,
- 3:05Speaker 2: So you cannot say there's the line and then ignore
- 3:09Speaker 2: it over and over and over again.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I think it was the guy in Syria.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah, right, your right well said it was all aside.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yes, well, I will tell you if you upset me
- 3:26Speaker 1: in any way, shape or form this morning, I am
- 3:28Speaker 1: drawing a line in the sand and I will quit
- 3:31Speaker 1: the show.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yes you will. And here's the difference is I'm in
- 3:36Speaker 2: favor of that.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So you're actively promoting that is hoping for.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so we're going to talk more about
- 3:44Speaker 2: that today because of course, and and the summit in China.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Great success, wonderful success. Okay, what success? Uh huh. And
- 4:00Speaker 2: finally Trump is we'll talk more about that too. Really,
- 4:05Speaker 2: between I rock and a hard place on this one,
- 4:08Speaker 2: and as Amy cleverly put it, Iraq in a hard place,
- 4:12Speaker 2: although it's mainly Iran and a hard place, and that
- 4:16Speaker 2: is that he keeps on extending the deadline for either
- 4:23Speaker 2: a sit down and I'll tell you the way it's
- 4:25Speaker 2: going to end in a minute, and starting a war.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Either way, it's a lose for him. He really painted
- 4:30Speaker 2: himself in a corner on this one. It's a lose
- 4:33Speaker 2: lose proposition wherever he goes. And then on the other side,
- 4:39Speaker 2: all you're going, all you're hearing now from Republicans is
- 4:43Speaker 2: the line if we can cannot let Iranians have a
- 4:47Speaker 2: nuclear weapon, and what's going to end up happening, I
- 4:50Speaker 2: think is Iran is going to give up. It's a
- 4:54Speaker 2: nuclear Richmond program for a period of time several years,
- 4:58Speaker 2: and we'll get it sanctioned, lifted, and we'll be able
- 5:03Speaker 2: to sell oil internationally, and we'll be able to manufacture drones,
- 5:08Speaker 2: and we'll be able to support terrorist organizations all over
- 5:11Speaker 2: the world. That is all going to happen as long
- 5:15Speaker 2: as the Strait of Hormuz opens up, and maybe Iran
- 5:20Speaker 2: will be able to make the strait a toll booth,
- 5:24Speaker 2: which it now does for certain ships that it allows
- 5:28Speaker 2: to go through. So you're going to see and of
- 5:32Speaker 2: course that will be towed. It as a great success
- 5:34Speaker 2: for the United States opening the straits, even though all
- 5:37Speaker 2: the rest of it is going to happen. Remember regime change. Oh,
- 5:41Speaker 2: then it became regime change after the senior officials were
- 5:47Speaker 2: all killed off. Even though the regime is exactly the same,
- 5:50Speaker 2: the IRCG, the Revolutionary guards still control everything. It's it's
- 5:55Speaker 2: regime change, all right. So much for that. God, it
- 6:00Speaker 2: drives me nuts. As you can see how things have changed,
- 6:03Speaker 2: absolutely for the worst. Okay, guys, are you ready to
- 6:06Speaker 2: do it? It is time? Uh? Well that was just a.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Little if that was your moose Boush's pre amble.
- 6:15Speaker 2: That was a moose Boush.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yes, we the people in order to.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yes. Okay, I was gonna make a joke about a
- 6:26Speaker 2: moose Boosh is a is not a woman? No comedian,
- 6:31Speaker 2: I'm not what? Nope, Nope, can't go there, Nope. Okay,
- 6:39Speaker 2: let's do it, guys, handle on the news, Amy, Neil
- 6:43Speaker 2: and me. All right, once again, as I mentioned, yet
- 6:50Speaker 2: another warning, uh, there won't be anything left of Iran
- 6:55Speaker 2: after a National security team meeting that he had with
- 6:58Speaker 2: Secretary of State and IA Director Steve Witkoff, and what
- 7:03Speaker 2: he posted this time is for Iran, the clock is
- 7:07Speaker 2: ticking and they better get moving fast or there won't
- 7:10Speaker 2: be anything left of them. Time is of essence, President
- 7:14Speaker 2: dj T. There's one thing missing on this one. If
- 7:17Speaker 2: you have, you noticed one major major part of this
- 7:21Speaker 2: that's missing. Guys, dud doo do doo doo doo do
- 7:27Speaker 2: any idea? Okay, I'll jump in. How about a timeline?
- 7:32Speaker 1: No, no, no, you don't need one.
- 7:34Speaker 2: The clock is ticking, I understand, But how those here,
- 7:37Speaker 2: the timelines have now disappeared.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Okay, now you're given a flak for not having a timeline,
- 7:43Speaker 4: and before you were all over him for having a
- 7:45Speaker 4: timeline and not adhering to it.
- 7:47Speaker 2: That is correct. Did I not say it's a lose
- 7:50Speaker 2: lose proposition? No matter which way he goes on this,
- 7:53Speaker 2: I actually think they're both the same though. Amy to
- 7:56Speaker 2: not have a timeline is it means nothing. To have
- 8:00Speaker 2: a timeline that you don't here to means nothing. He's
- 8:05Speaker 2: truly between a rock and a hard place. He's put
- 8:07Speaker 2: himself in a he's painting himself in a position into
- 8:10Speaker 2: the corner. I mean, it's there's not much he can do.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Uh and and and come out of winter on this my.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Opinion, Ebola is back O. This is so scary.
- 8:23Speaker 4: A handful of Americans in the Democratic Republic of Congo
- 8:27Speaker 4: have been exposed to suspected cases of ebola. It's rearing
- 8:31Speaker 4: its ugly head again in the Congo and Uganda. The Americans,
- 8:38Speaker 4: including a family with children, have been working for a
- 8:41Speaker 4: nonprofit in the outbreak area in the eastern area of
- 8:45Speaker 4: the Congo. The CDC says it is supporting partners who
- 8:48Speaker 4: are actively coordinating for the safe withdrawal of the Americans
- 8:52Speaker 4: who are directly affected. More than three hundred suspected cases
- 8:57Speaker 4: of ebola are active and eighty eight people have died
- 9:01Speaker 4: so far, and the who has declared a medical health
- 9:06Speaker 4: of a public health emergency.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Two things about a bullet It is one of the
- 9:10Speaker 2: most fascinating and entertaining diseases that we have. That's for starters.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And the other thing because it is I mean, it's
- 9:20Speaker 2: like Marlborough Marburg syndrome. You bleed out from every orifice
- 9:25Speaker 2: and it's just neat stuff. And the other thing is
- 9:28Speaker 2: that Jim Keeney says these that it is so virulent,
- 9:32Speaker 2: it is so dangerous, It is so contagious, it kills
- 9:36Speaker 2: so quickly that it burns itself out very quickly. As
- 9:42Speaker 2: long as they can contain the general area in which
- 9:47Speaker 2: ebola is discovered, it's going to burn itself out.
- 9:50Speaker 1: What do you mean, it just devastates the people at Yeah,
- 9:53Speaker 1: it kills people before it can spread.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it just kills. It just kills you. Yeah, you're done. Goodbye,
- 9:59Speaker 2: chow baby.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Have you ever visited the Democratic Republic of count.
- 10:04Speaker 2: No, I have not. I have been to Ka No,
- 10:07Speaker 2: I'm going. I have been to Kenya several times, which
- 10:11Speaker 2: I am doing it again coming up this Christmas time.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Uganda is one of the places where they have the gorillas.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yeah, as uh does Tanzania. So I have been to Uganda,
- 10:24Speaker 2: as does Tanzania, I believe.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Have Tanzania does not have gorillas.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Okay, and Rwanda have. That's it. Rwanda, thank you. Rwanda
- 10:31Speaker 2: is any country that's true a mountain gorillas. Have you
- 10:34Speaker 2: ever been to see the mountain gorillas?
- 10:36Speaker 3: I have not.
- 10:36Speaker 4: I've Oh, I've been to Africa twice and I haven't
- 10:39Speaker 4: made it to the gorilla.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah. It's a little pricing now now it's fifteen hundred
- 10:43Speaker 2: dollars per person. It's okay if you if you want
- 10:45Speaker 2: to go up to see the mountain gorillas. I did
- 10:48Speaker 2: that and it was okay. Here, Yeah, I went up
- 10:50Speaker 2: the mountain and saw the mountain gorilla. It's a gorilla,
- 10:54Speaker 2: I was. I wasn't that impressed. Yeah, it's a gorilla
- 10:58Speaker 2: there it is. Uh, But then again, you know, that's
- 11:01Speaker 2: the way I work. And they're habituated. They're still wild,
- 11:04Speaker 2: but habituated, which means that they are used to people.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Oh that's okay, because then maybe they won't kill you.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't kill They're pretty gentle creatures unless you
- 11:13Speaker 2: get in the way of a mom and her little wood.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Did they make you take your shirt off so that
- 11:20Speaker 1: they would think you were one of them?
- 11:21Speaker 2: Oh, that's very funny. Okay. Also, Rwanda is interesting country,
- 11:27Speaker 2: and that that was where the massacres took place in
- 11:31Speaker 2: genocide the Hutis and UTIs, the Tutsis and the Hutsis,
- 11:37Speaker 2: and they were killing each other with I mean literally
- 11:40Speaker 2: chopping each other up to pieces. And then the president
- 11:42Speaker 2: of Rwanda, new president came in who is wildly popular
- 11:47Speaker 2: and did a great job. They did a great job.
- 11:49Speaker 2: One of the things he did was one day a month,
- 11:53Speaker 2: the entire population had to donate time to the government.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Literally he pick up trash or work on building roads,
- 12:03Speaker 2: and he and everybody went, including him, I like that, Yeah, no.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Kidding, Okay, guys, Well this is something Bill's talked about
- 12:13Speaker 1: over and over. The senator lost his primary in Louisiana
- 12:19Speaker 1: on Saturday. That's Saturday. That senator was Bill Cassidy, five
- 12:24Speaker 1: years after voting to convict Trump on impeachment charges following
- 12:29Speaker 1: the January sixth Capital riot. Horrific moment in our history.
- 12:34Speaker 1: If you ask me, Senator Bill Cassidy primary loss on Saturday,
- 12:39Speaker 1: this is, you know, a two decade career this guy
- 12:42Speaker 1: had in public office, ultimately defined by tensions butting heads
- 12:46Speaker 1: with President Donald Trump. The result marks what some say
- 12:51Speaker 1: is another trophy for Trump's collection of ongoing bid to
- 12:55Speaker 1: ohadily oust republic Is.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Dan Bill Cassidy, who who voted for impeachment one of
- 13:01Speaker 2: the few Republicans that voted for impeachment, was on the
- 13:05Speaker 2: crap list of the president. He did everything he could
- 13:08Speaker 2: to bring himself in Trump's good graces, including voting for
- 13:12Speaker 2: RFK Junior, even knowing that it was a horrible vote.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Cassidy's a doctor who was involved in vaccine programs in
- 13:19Speaker 2: Louisiana and voted for an AX vaccine denier, all to
- 13:24Speaker 2: appease Trump and nothing helps. As the President says, there's
- 13:29Speaker 2: the line in the sand. If you are disloyal to me,
- 13:33Speaker 2: I am going to get rid of you.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Well, maybe he can be a public voice against what
- 13:37Speaker 1: RFK is doing now that he is a sign.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Now he's no longer he's no longer in power.
- 13:42Speaker 1: So well maybe I'm sure that he'll become a talking head.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope so. I mean, I hope so because
- 13:48Speaker 2: the vaccine business is horrific. But this just points out
- 13:53Speaker 2: that the Republican Party is one hundred percent controlled by
- 13:57Speaker 2: the President, that he can I'm mary virtually anybody out,
- 14:02Speaker 2: no matter how well ensconced they are. We'll see what
- 14:06Speaker 2: happens in the general election. Though it's, uh, you know,
- 14:10Speaker 2: it's Trump's approval rating is going down pretty dramatically and
- 14:14Speaker 2: pretty quickly. But we'll see. I mean, the Republicans are
- 14:16Speaker 2: going to overwhelmingly vote for him, there's no question. And
- 14:19Speaker 2: it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter how bad the economy is.
- 14:22Speaker 2: His Mangas supporters are there for him, even the point
- 14:26Speaker 2: where I remember I saw one commercial where I went
- 14:30Speaker 2: one interview in which a farmer was losing his farm,
- 14:34Speaker 2: losing it because of a Trump policy, and he said,
- 14:39Speaker 2: I don't care. I believe in our president. Where do
- 14:43Speaker 2: you go with that?
- 14:46Speaker 1: All right?
- 14:46Speaker 3: Moving on, don't blame Taiwan.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Taiwan's representative to the US, Alexander Yee, said, we want
- 14:56Speaker 4: peace and stability, but we're not the ones creating all
- 14:58Speaker 4: this trouble. Of course, I want a central to China's interest.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Beijing has refused to rule out using military force to
- 15:05Speaker 4: retake control, and it was apparently a hot topic at
- 15:09Speaker 4: the recent summit between President Trump and Chinese President Shijing.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Pink.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's another one between a rock and a hard place.
- 15:19Speaker 2: She made it really clear, stay the hell out of
- 15:22Speaker 2: the way with US and Taiwan and the fourteen billion
- 15:26Speaker 2: dollar package arms package that you, mister Trump was pushing.
- 15:33Speaker 2: I now wanted to go the other way. And Trump
- 15:36Speaker 2: is up in the air. He hasn't decided whether he's
- 15:38Speaker 2: going to sign off or not. You're going to see
- 15:40Speaker 2: that she was the big winner on this one, no
- 15:42Speaker 2: question about it.
- 15:45Speaker 1: All right. Thousands gather in Washington. In this particular case,
- 15:51Speaker 1: it was on the National Mall for a day long
- 15:54Speaker 1: prayer rally. They billed it as rededication of our country
- 15:58Speaker 1: as one name under God. You had the you know,
- 16:03Speaker 1: the whole shebang backdrop, You got the Washington Monument, worship
- 16:06Speaker 1: music playing on the stage, arch stained glass windows, all
- 16:11Speaker 1: of these things. It I don't know if this was
- 16:16Speaker 1: primarily just Christian nationalism.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it was for the most part. It was certainly
- 16:21Speaker 2: for the most part.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I get that, and that's what I got originally. But
- 16:25Speaker 1: then I read a quote where it says, we are
- 16:27Speaker 1: deeply concerned that what is being rededicated is a nation
- 16:31Speaker 1: to a very narrow and ideological part of the Christian
- 16:35Speaker 1: faith and betrays art nation's fundamental commitment to religious freedom.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Says one. But maybe this is per Maybe this is
- 16:44Speaker 1: someone who is just responding to this.
- 16:46Speaker 2: It is as someone who leads another Christian organizations. This
- 16:50Speaker 2: was Rededicate two fifty is what they call it. And
- 16:54Speaker 2: the program the two hundred of all the names that
- 17:00Speaker 2: were on there, and Trump's longtime evangelical supporters were on there,
- 17:04Speaker 2: one name was not Christian, one of all of them,
- 17:09Speaker 2: and I'm assuming it was a.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Josian, non Christian.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it was. I think it was a
- 17:13Speaker 2: jew because at last I heard someone was on eBay
- 17:17Speaker 2: scrambling to buy a foreskin, so I'm assuming that that
- 17:21Speaker 2: was the case.
- 17:22Speaker 1: They called they didn't refer to them as Jewish, they
- 17:24Speaker 1: called him half a Christian.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yes, two, one more.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Ukraine just keeps on fighting back. Ukraine has launched its
- 17:33Speaker 4: biggest strikes on Moscow in more than a year, with
- 17:37Speaker 4: dozens of drones attacking Russia's capital city. The strikes on Sunday,
- 17:42Speaker 4: apparently demonstrating Kiev's growing ability to launch long range strikes
- 17:47Speaker 4: as it tries to damage the Kremlin's war and oil
- 17:50Speaker 4: industries and bring the war home to Russia.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Yeap, piece is still not happening, your boy to Russia
- 17:58Speaker 2: dig itself into a hole this way and by invading Ukraine. Also,
- 18:02Speaker 2: Ukraine is being credited, I think rightly so for being
- 18:06Speaker 2: the most advanced country in the world to deal with drones,
- 18:10Speaker 2: manufactory of drones and drone defense, the drone attack defenses.
- 18:16Speaker 2: So Ukraine. Now, I remember when Kiev was attacked and
- 18:20Speaker 2: we all gave we gave Ukraine three days, literally three
- 18:26Speaker 2: days that it was going to collapse. Me too, I
- 18:31Speaker 2: was there saying it's going to be three days. I
- 18:33Speaker 2: was off by about four years. And it still hasn't
- 18:36Speaker 2: happened yet. Okay.
- 18:38Speaker 1: A Jewish institution right here in Los Angeles was on
- 18:42Speaker 1: that list, one of the locations targeted in a recent
- 18:45Speaker 1: foiled terrorism plot. So you had the US Attorney for
- 18:50Speaker 1: the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton. He announced
- 18:54Speaker 1: that they thwarted this terrorist attack and this was the
- 18:58Speaker 1: recent arrest. And let me get this name right because
- 19:01Speaker 1: it's a long one. Mohammed but Kiir Saad Dahwood al Saadi,
- 19:07Speaker 1: an Iraqi national and senior member of his ballah, his blah,
- 19:13Speaker 1: and by getting him, capturing him, they were able to
- 19:18Speaker 1: thwart these attacks. But there was a location right here
- 19:21Speaker 1: in Los Angeles.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're saying he was involved in eighteen terroristic
- 19:26Speaker 2: attacks throughout Europe. It was one bad, bad guy. By
- 19:29Speaker 2: the way, it is a difficult name to pronounce, Katias Wala.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I'll he's call him al for sure, Hey, Al, Yeah,
- 19:39Speaker 2: it's his nickname.
- 19:42Speaker 4: And then there were five LA County health officials have
- 19:45Speaker 4: reported another case of measles that brings the number who
- 19:50Speaker 4: have been in the county with measles five for twenty
- 19:55Speaker 4: twenty six. This person recently traveled internationally right on Alaska
- 20:01Speaker 4: AIRLINES'ES FIGHT thirteen fifty four at the Tom Bradley International
- 20:04Speaker 4: Airport Terminal B on Thursday. If you're at the terminal
- 20:09Speaker 4: between six and eight a m. Last Thursday, you may
- 20:12Speaker 4: have been exposed to the measles virus. And public health
- 20:15Speaker 4: officials say anybody sitting next to this person, is being
- 20:18Speaker 4: on the plane, is being alerted.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Measles If you talk to Jim and a lot of
- 20:25Speaker 2: us know, is if not, the one of the most
- 20:30Speaker 2: contagious diseases that we have on this planet. And look
- 20:34Speaker 2: what they're saying. If you've been within two hours at
- 20:37Speaker 2: the terminal or sat on the airplane next to this guy,
- 20:41Speaker 2: how the hell do you know if you sat on
- 20:42Speaker 2: an explane next to somebody I don't know who I
- 20:46Speaker 2: sit next to, have flight manifests.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Well, yeah, that's we'll contact the people who.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Are Okay, all right, all right, that resonates.
- 20:54Speaker 4: But here's my question. If you have the vaccine, you're
- 21:00Speaker 4: clear right.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Yes, Okay, then I'm not worried. Have you been vaccinated?
- 21:05Speaker 2: Of course, yeah, I think all of us from measles,
- 21:09Speaker 2: we've certainly been vaccinated. I mean there are even the
- 21:13Speaker 2: anti vaxers are okay, maybe measles, now, maybe polio. I
- 21:19Speaker 2: mean the rest of it is out of conversation.
- 21:22Speaker 1: We're gonna have to have Lepper Lepper Islands again, and
- 21:25Speaker 1: anybody not vaccinated can live on the islands.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Right. You know there is a leper you know there
- 21:31Speaker 2: is a leper colony a Molokai. Yeah, still one yeah,
- 21:35Speaker 2: still one, last one left. It's a leper colony. The
- 21:38Speaker 2: government is it there? Yeah you can. I've been there.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been there.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Came back and my fingers turned gang Greene and fell off.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I shook a leper's hand and then took it home.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Okay. California Superior Court, by the way, that's much better.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Okay has rule.
- 22:00Speaker 5: That one eight seven seven Cars for Kids, their long
- 22:07Speaker 5: running you know jingle that we've heard a bazillion times
- 22:10Speaker 5: violates the state's false advertising law and ordered the nonprofit
- 22:15Speaker 5: to stop airing.
- 22:16Speaker 1: The ads in It's in their current form beginning June eighth.
- 22:20Speaker 1: This was crazy, hilarious. I was listening to Ronner do
- 22:26Speaker 1: the news the other day. He mentions this story and
- 22:31Speaker 1: then two spots afterwards, was the Cars for Kids spot,
- 22:36Speaker 1: and I was like, wow, that sounds awkward. But this
- 22:40Speaker 1: had to do with the vast majority of people not
- 22:42Speaker 1: understanding that. And it's not clear in the spots apparently
- 22:47Speaker 1: that the funds don't go to needy children broadly. The
- 22:51Speaker 1: vast majority of the money raised by Cars for Kid
- 22:54Speaker 1: Kids was instead directed to another nonprofit that funneled money
- 22:58Speaker 1: to Orthodox Jewish programs.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Orthodox Jewish programs. What a shocker, huh? But also those
- 23:05Speaker 2: commercialized there.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't know that.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I know. And they're interviewing those kids. I mean, this
- 23:08Speaker 2: is twenty five years later and they're you know, going
- 23:11Speaker 2: to Santa Monica and seeing how many of them are
- 23:14Speaker 2: drug addicts. Sandar on the street and hooking. Now, that
- 23:18Speaker 2: was a joke, Okay, before we get sued, that was parody.
- 23:22Speaker 2: That was a joke. I want to make it very
- 23:24Speaker 2: very clear what we oh no, no, I have no no.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Before the lawsuit hit. Now, before the lawsuit hits, we've
- 23:31Speaker 2: got to make it really clear.
- 23:36Speaker 4: If you did pay per view, you're probably p oed.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Former UFC champion Olympic medalist Ronda Rousey needed just seventeen
- 23:45Speaker 4: seconds to defeat Gina Carano with her signature arm bar
- 23:50Speaker 4: Saturday at the Intuit Dome, bringing her mixed martial arts
- 23:53Speaker 4: career to a close. Is Gina Carano the one she was,
- 23:58Speaker 4: the one who was on the Mandalorian.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Yes, correct, and she got canceled, Yes correct.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 2: The story said she lost one hundred pounds for she
- 24:08Speaker 2: was fast.
- 24:10Speaker 1: She gained a lot. She became a pretty big girl. Beautiful.
- 24:16Speaker 1: They're both beautiful. They were in great shape. But man
- 24:20Speaker 1: I sent to Kno a meme that I saw made
- 24:22Speaker 1: me laugh, said this fight should have been an email.
- 24:26Speaker 1: It just was so short, and you don't want to
- 24:32Speaker 1: get You don't want to go to the floor with Ronda.
- 24:35Speaker 2: ROUSI clearly, clearly okay.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Trump receives a kick to the old ballroom. A GOP
- 24:42Speaker 1: bill seeking one billion for the Secret Service to help
- 24:45Speaker 1: finance President Donald Trump's White House ballroom big time in
- 24:50Speaker 1: jeopardy as it faces massive pushback from a top Senate official.
- 24:56Speaker 1: So it goes to say that this is a multi
- 24:59Speaker 1: layered ask. A project as complex and large in scale
- 25:04Speaker 1: as Trump's proposed ballroom necessarily involves the coordination of many
- 25:10Speaker 1: government agencies, which sprint which span the jurisdiction of many
- 25:14Speaker 1: Senate committees, So said the Senate Democrats.
- 25:18Speaker 2: This is not a no, it's just procedurally it's a no.
- 25:21Speaker 1: It's more coffilicated there.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Yeah, they have to go through many more hoops. And
- 25:26Speaker 2: the argument is that the president can't just arbitrarily one
- 25:30Speaker 2: morning wake up and say hey, I have an idea,
- 25:33Speaker 2: and then it moves forward and the changes. Of course,
- 25:37Speaker 2: it was all private donations. I haven't heard about that
- 25:41Speaker 2: very much. I'm hearing about a billion dollars and taxpayer money. Now,
- 25:45Speaker 2: the other side of it is a billion dollars for
- 25:48Speaker 2: security underneath the ballroom. A billion dollars buys a lot
- 25:53Speaker 2: of security. I don't quite understand where a billion dollars goes.
- 25:58Speaker 2: I don't know enough about it. So maybe a billion
- 26:00Speaker 2: or it is reasonable for what's under the ballroom. But
- 26:03Speaker 2: then what's on top of the foundation a ballroom. It's
- 26:07Speaker 2: the elevators. Elevators all yes's most expensive for sure.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Leave those shrooms alone, please.
- 26:18Speaker 4: California is dealing with what experts describe as the largest
- 26:21Speaker 4: known outbreak of deadly mushroom poisonings in US history. Forty
- 26:25Speaker 4: seven confirmed cases since November. Four people were killed, four
- 26:31Speaker 4: had to have liver transplants. Most of the illnesses are
- 26:35Speaker 4: linked to amatoxin containing mushrooms, including death caps and Western
- 26:40Speaker 4: destroying angels, which are highly toxic species that look a
- 26:45Speaker 4: lot like edible mushrooms.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Now, Amy, I have a question, wouldn't you want people
- 26:51Speaker 2: that go out and forage for mustrooms in the forest
- 26:56Speaker 2: and eat them. Wouldn't you want them out of the
- 26:57Speaker 2: gene pool anyway?
- 27:02Speaker 4: Well, mushrooms are very popular, Bill, I'm not arguing that
- 27:05Speaker 4: it's the foraging that he's quite.
- 27:07Speaker 2: It's the foraging. Yes.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I used to when I would make bread. I had
- 27:11Speaker 1: a friend who said, you know, they sell that at
- 27:13Speaker 1: the Vonns. So I can imagine if you're foraging, you
- 27:17Speaker 1: could get it all right. Uh, what a bummer. So
- 27:21Speaker 1: you've got months and months of preparation. And it looks
- 27:24Speaker 1: like permitting issues forced organizers to cancel the Pride Festival
- 27:29Speaker 1: in Long Beach, but the parade marched on uh with
- 27:35Speaker 1: the as scheduled on Sunday, despite all the cancelation of
- 27:38Speaker 1: the festival, and and I thought this was kind of
- 27:41Speaker 1: a cool way to still celebrate. It looks like people
- 27:46Speaker 1: scrambled and went to local you know, the bars and
- 27:51Speaker 1: restaurants and still celebrated. They just whatever the permitting issue
- 27:56Speaker 1: that forced.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Whose dumb move was the.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Yeah, how is it? If you're talking all about this
- 28:04Speaker 2: planning and to do one of these events takes months
- 28:07Speaker 2: of planning, you would think that the permits would be
- 28:10Speaker 2: one of the first things you would put.
- 28:12Speaker 4: To bed, and that they canceled it literally hours before
- 28:17Speaker 4: the festival was supposed to start.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but what it's you can't get somebody at city
- 28:24Speaker 1: Hall to go okay, there was a mix up whatever.
- 28:28Speaker 1: I get it that somebody dropped the ball somewhere, But
- 28:31Speaker 1: you can't find someone to sign off on a permit.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Don't know. And maybe it's hard to get someone to
- 28:37Speaker 2: sign off on anything. It's easier to say no, far
- 28:40Speaker 2: easier to say no in any governmental procedure or ask
- 28:45Speaker 2: I think we have time for one more?
- 28:47Speaker 1: Oh good?
- 28:48Speaker 4: It was a magical Disney Day. Pedro Pascal, who stars
- 28:53Speaker 4: in The Mandalorian and Grogu which hits theaters May twenty second,
- 28:57Speaker 4: showed up at a Galaxy's Edge on Saturday in the
- 29:01Speaker 4: Disneyland Park. He put on his Mandalorian armor and his helmet,
- 29:05Speaker 4: and then when people walked into the Millennium Falcon Smuggler's
- 29:10Speaker 4: Run ride, he took off his helmet and was there.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I mean, such an awesome video, so amazing, right, you know,
- 29:17Speaker 1: because he does it. The whole point of being a
- 29:20Speaker 1: Mandalorian is you don't take off your helmet. And he
- 29:22Speaker 1: takes it off and everybody freaks out and he says,
- 29:25Speaker 1: now that you've all seen my face, you al must die.
- 29:29Speaker 1: So very cool. I love when they do stuff like
- 29:31Speaker 1: that at the park.
- 29:32Speaker 4: Yeah, and then Sigourney Weaver was there too, which I
- 29:35Speaker 4: would think would be very cool. And then the director
- 29:38Speaker 4: of the Mandalorian grogu, John Favreau, was also there. And
- 29:43Speaker 4: of course, again this all done in advance of the
- 29:46Speaker 4: movie's release, and they're re tooling Smugglers Run so it'll
- 29:51Speaker 4: be Mandalorian themed and that opens on May twenty second
- 29:54Speaker 4: as well. All right, Bill, you're supposed to be excited
- 29:56Speaker 4: about this stuff now, now that you're a Disney fan.
- 29:58Speaker 2: I am, but no, I've always been Disney fan.
- 30:00Speaker 1: You know.
- 30:00Speaker 2: My complaint has never been Disney in and of itself.
- 30:03Speaker 2: It was always the constant was always, it was always
- 30:07Speaker 2: the lines. And Neil and Ewett said, you know what,
- 30:10Speaker 2: in the end, it's all worthwhile. And having gone to
- 30:12Speaker 2: Disciland for the first time in what thirty years? Okay, Yeah,
- 30:16Speaker 2: there's enough great stuff there that it is worth it.
- 30:18Speaker 2: All right. Well, with that in mind, let's do this
- 30:22Speaker 2: talk about movies and Hollywood. There is a production crisis
- 30:27Speaker 2: and it has become a major issue in the LA
- 30:31Speaker 2: Mayor's race, and I'll talk about that when we come back.
- 30:34Speaker 2: In the meantime, this is KFI AM six forty. You've
- 30:39Speaker 2: been listening to the Bill Handle Show. Catch my show
