Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / Sarah’s Day: ‘Project Comeback’ 2.0?
Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: Amy Torber and coming up on today's show. Tammy Hembrough
- 0:14Speaker 1: isn't happy about Matt Sikowsky's latest claims about their failed marriage.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And Sarah's day's new fitness challenge feels familiar. But first,
- 0:23Speaker 1: the feud between Jackie Alexander and Gabby Sullivan is intensifying.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Last week, we discussed how Jackie was forced to defend
- 0:30Speaker 1: herself after her former best friend claimed she got drunk
- 0:33Speaker 1: and ruined her wedding.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so on Friday, Gabby Sullivan released an official statement
- 0:39Speaker 2: about the incident on her Instagram story. Interestingly, she didn't
- 0:43Speaker 2: name Jackie by name, but it was clear who she
- 0:45Speaker 2: was referring to. So in the statement, Gabby claimed she
- 0:48Speaker 2: never wanted to publicly discuss the incident that took place
- 0:51Speaker 2: at her wedding. But she said she could no longer
- 0:54Speaker 2: remain silent after she was made aware of TikToks and
- 0:57Speaker 2: comments made about her and her wedding. She wrote, especially
- 1:10Speaker 2: from people who have also experienced the awful impact of
- 1:13Speaker 2: online bullying themselves.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Now, Gabby echoed her original allegations that Jackie was extremely
- 1:18Speaker 1: intoxicated at her wedding and started a loud argument with
- 1:22Speaker 1: her at the dinner table. She said she wouldn't stand
- 1:24Speaker 1: for being called a liar when she had a dozen
- 1:27Speaker 1: witnesses to back up her story. She also claimed that
- 1:30Speaker 1: she tried to salvage the friendship because she believed alcohol
- 1:33Speaker 1: played a role in Jackie's behavior. But a month later,
- 1:36Speaker 1: things turned toxic and they blocked each other.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Now, Amy, it appears the comments Jackie gave to the
- 1:42Speaker 2: Daily Mail, which we covered last week, was the final
- 1:45Speaker 2: straw for Gabby. So to refresh listeners' memories, Jackie labeled
- 1:49Speaker 2: Gabby's accusations as false and hurtful and denied yelling at
- 1:53Speaker 2: Gabby and ruining her wedding. In fact, she said that
- 1:56Speaker 2: they remained friends after the wedding. And Jackie went on
- 1:59Speaker 2: to tell the Daily Mail that there was a deeper
- 2:01Speaker 2: problem and level of the story that was missing. So
- 2:04Speaker 2: it turns out, as expected, Gabby was also approached by
- 2:07Speaker 2: the Daily Mail for comment, but she said she declined
- 2:10Speaker 2: to give one to avoid further drama. And she said
- 2:13Speaker 2: that she was really disappointed Jackie went to the media. Well,
- 2:16Speaker 2: did she go to the media or did she just
- 2:17Speaker 2: respond to the media? Yeah, well, she responded to the media,
- 2:21Speaker 2: which I think was actually a very smart move because
- 2:24Speaker 2: whenever media say, oh, so-and-so declined to comment, you instantly think, oh, well,
- 2:29Speaker 2: it's true.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Look, I can understand why Gabby didn't want to speak
- 2:32Speaker 1: to the Daily Mail on the record. But sometimes it
- 2:34Speaker 1: is worth taking the phone calls and saying, look, while
- 2:37Speaker 1: I don't want to speak on the record, off the record,
- 2:40Speaker 1: there is no truth to these allegations. And sometimes that
- 2:43Speaker 1: will stop journos from actually running stories.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Or they'll run them by saying an insider, which is
- 2:47Speaker 2: often the person that they've spoken to off the record. Now,
- 2:51Speaker 2: Jackie hit back at Gabby's statement in the form of
- 2:53Speaker 2: a TikTok mime. So she mimed to this trending sound.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I am fully aware of what y'all say about me.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Number one.
- 3:04Speaker 3: And I don't give a fuck.
- 3:06Speaker 2: And she went on to caption the video, let them
- 3:08Speaker 2: talk behind your back. They're behind you for a reason.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I love that the TikTok mimes are literally what we
- 3:14Speaker 1: did back in the 2000s on MSN. Anytime you had
- 3:16Speaker 1: a fight with a friend, you would change it to
- 3:17Speaker 1: some kind of passive aggressive quote or some kind of
- 3:20Speaker 1: song lyrics.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Yeah, nothing has changed except the medium that we now
- 3:24Speaker 2: share our passive aggressive nature in. Now, someone commented underneath
- 3:28Speaker 2: Jackie's video, drop it, we beg. And she replied, gonna
- 3:32Speaker 2: have to since my name is being slandered. Another person wrote,
- 3:36Speaker 2: I love you, but you have been giving mean girl energy.
- 3:38Speaker 2: So either spill your side or drop it. Now, Jackie
- 3:41Speaker 2: responded saying, if you think a little TikTok is giving
- 3:44Speaker 2: mean girl, just wait until you hear what the other
- 3:47Speaker 2: person has been doing. Someone else wrote, or wait until
- 3:51Speaker 2: they hear you were too drunk to talk at your
- 3:53Speaker 2: best friend's wedding and ruin it for her. Now, Jackie replied,
- 3:57Speaker 2: I never said that didn't happen, but there is a
- 3:59Speaker 2: lot of missing pieces and that is not why we're
- 4:01Speaker 2: no longer friends.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Now, Jackie also entered the chat on Influencer Update AU's
- 4:06Speaker 1: Friday live stream. So she wrote in the comments, yes,
- 4:09Speaker 1: I was drinking. It was a wedding. She yelled at me.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I defended myself. This is so juicy.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Watch this space because what is missing is the context
- 4:19Speaker 2: of what this wedding day argument was about. And I
- 4:22Speaker 2: don't think it will be too long until we find out.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Day one of Project Comeback is complete.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Sarah's day has unveiled her latest secret project. The self-proclaimed
- 4:32Speaker 1: holistic health princess is launching a 60-day fitness challenge that
- 4:36Speaker 1: feels very reminiscent of her old Project Comeback days. Now,
- 4:40Speaker 1: before we get into Sarah's new challenge, Kate, can you
- 4:43Speaker 1: bring listeners up to speed with what Project Comeback was?
- 4:46Speaker 1: I feel like listeners who followed Sarah back in the
- 4:48Speaker 1: day may get a bit of PTSD when they hear
- 4:50Speaker 1: the words Project Comeback. If we're channeling Sarah, we should
- 4:54Speaker 1: be saying Project Comeback.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it does feel wrong saying Project. Anyway, so Project
- 4:59Speaker 2: Comeback was a recurring series that Sarah shared on her
- 5:02Speaker 2: YouTube channel. And essentially, she would document flogging herself in
- 5:06Speaker 2: the gym and restricting her diet under this guise of
- 5:10Speaker 2: needing to do a comeback because she'd put on weight.
- 5:13Speaker 2: And it is so crazy to look back at these vlogs.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So I watched one from April 2016 and in it,
- 5:20Speaker 2: Sarah revealed that she put on weight after having her
- 5:22Speaker 2: wisdom teeth out. So she weighed herself on camera and
- 5:26Speaker 2: showed the figure on the screen. She also went on
- 5:29Speaker 2: to list everything that she had eaten and filmed herself
- 5:32Speaker 2: punishing herself in the gym.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Isn't it bizarre that we did not bat an eyelid
- 5:36Speaker 1: back in 2016 watching this type of content?
- 5:39Speaker 2: I know, because I remember watching it and being like, oh, yep,
- 5:42Speaker 2: another project comeback. Like, let's get some tips and tricks
- 5:45Speaker 2: on how to lose a bit of weight.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Well, let's sit down with like a piece of cake
- 5:48Speaker 1: watching this. I would always find myself like gorging on
- 5:52Speaker 1: something sweet watching Sarah's Day's video. For some reason, I
- 5:55Speaker 1: felt like I had done a workout just watching her.
- 5:58Speaker 2: It did make you feel hungry.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Now, to give this vlog justice, I want to throw
- 6:01Speaker 2: to what she said in the vlog.
- 6:04Speaker 4: So like you guys saw in my last vlog, I
- 6:06Speaker 4: just got my wisdom teeth out and basically it wasn't
- 6:09Speaker 4: a very good time. Over the last three weeks, I've
- 6:11Speaker 4: gained a solid kilos, put on a little bit of
- 6:14Speaker 4: fat and... Yeah, I'm not very fit anymore. So I'm
- 6:19Speaker 4: sick of feeling sorry for myself, sick of being down.
- 6:21Speaker 4: So today we get back on the daily grind. After
- 6:24Speaker 4: a week of eating clean and going to the gym again,
- 6:27Speaker 4: if I haven't seen any results, then I'm allowed to
- 6:29Speaker 4: be a little bit down. But for the moment, I
- 6:31Speaker 4: only have myself to blame. There's no point in getting
- 6:33Speaker 4: upset about it and feeling ashamed of my body. There's
- 6:38Speaker 4: worse things in life than having a little bit of
- 6:40Speaker 4: extra fat on you.
- 6:42Speaker 2: There is no way an influencer could post a monologue
- 6:45Speaker 2: to camera like that with a following like Sarah's day
- 6:49Speaker 2: and not be called up on it. But at the time,
- 6:50Speaker 2: as you said, Amy, no one batted an eyelid.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Well, she even went on to refer to herself as
- 6:55Speaker 1: a blob.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Oh, there was a lot of negative speak going on
- 6:58Speaker 2: and it was really difficult to listen to. Now, seven
- 7:01Speaker 2: months later, Sarah did another project comeback after she returned
- 7:04Speaker 2: from a holiday to Queensland. And one of the scenes
- 7:07Speaker 2: that made me feel ultra uncomfortable was Sarah doing this
- 7:10Speaker 2: body check to the camera. To show that she had
- 7:13Speaker 2: put on weight. And I just couldn't believe it because
- 7:16Speaker 2: she was so toned and there was no way that
- 7:19Speaker 2: she needed to lose weight. Like this shot was a
- 7:22Speaker 2: shot that you would see on a fitness Pinterest. Like
- 7:25Speaker 2: she was ripped, her abs were popping, but this apparently
- 7:28Speaker 2: was deemed not good enough.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And it's important to point out that Sarah was not
- 7:32Speaker 1: the only fitness influencer posting this type of content. Unfortunately,
- 7:35Speaker 1: this really was the norm.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. And this is probably why it didn't
- 7:38Speaker 2: stand out at the time. And when we're looking at
- 7:40Speaker 2: it from a 2025 lens, it's just so jarring. Now,
- 7:44Speaker 2: after documenting what she had eaten and what she did
- 7:47Speaker 2: in the gym to lose weight, she then said this
- 7:49Speaker 2: to the camera.
- 7:51Speaker 4: But day one of Project Comeback is complete. Definitely stay
- 7:54Speaker 4: tuned because I'll be doing at least three vlogs of
- 7:56Speaker 4: Project Comeback and every single vlog will be sharing different
- 7:58Speaker 4: tips of how I'm going to get lean and shredded again.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Because I do have a lot of events coming up
- 8:04Speaker 4: where I need to look a certain way and be
- 8:06Speaker 4: lean again. And I'm still feeling quite bloated and just
- 8:09Speaker 4: not as lean and toned as I was a couple
- 8:11Speaker 4: of weeks ago.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Sarah always used the term shredded. In fact, it was
- 8:16Speaker 2: actually in the title of her first ebook called Sweat
- 8:19Speaker 2: It to Shred It. You don't really hear it anymore.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I really think the most contentious project comeback she did though, Kate,
- 8:25Speaker 1: was the one six weeks after she gave birth to Fox.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah, and arguably the most damaging because it was aimed
- 8:32Speaker 2: at postpartum women. And when Sarah released her promo last
- 8:37Speaker 2: week for her new fitness challenge, I couldn't help but
- 8:39Speaker 2: feel like I'd been catapulted back to the early 2010s.
- 8:42Speaker 2: So the promo was shot by Sarah's husband, Kurt Till's,
- 8:46Speaker 2: And in the video, Sarah stretches on a sand dune
- 8:49Speaker 2: wearing a sports bra and bike shorts. And the video
- 8:53Speaker 2: deliberately zooms up on her very toned body and her
- 8:57Speaker 2: abs as she gazes off in the distance. Then text
- 9:00Speaker 2: appears on the screen that reads, 60 days, 60 workouts,
- 9:04Speaker 2: 5 rules. You won't just move different, you'll feel different.
- 9:08Speaker 2: And Sarah captioned the video, the 560 challenge coming soon.
- 9:11Speaker 2: 60 days, 60 workouts, 5 rules. Become a better you.
- 9:16Speaker 2: A challenge designed for busy women juggling it all who
- 9:18Speaker 2: can't pause their life but need to fill their own cup.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Tag your 560 training partner for accountability. Now this video
- 9:26Speaker 2: went absolutely nuts on Instagram. At the time of recording,
- 9:29Speaker 2: it has had over a million views, 26,000 likes, 1.1
- 9:32Speaker 2: thousand comments and 1.3 thousand send on. So a lot
- 9:35Speaker 2: of people were tagging their 560 training partner.
- 9:43Speaker 1: The strangest thing about this is though, there's no real
- 9:46Speaker 1: call to action. Like there's no link to follow. I
- 9:48Speaker 1: saw a lot of people commenting, how do I do this?
- 9:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:51Speaker 2: And is this going to cost money? The answer is yes,
- 9:54Speaker 2: of course it is going to cost money. Now, Sarah
- 9:56Speaker 2: was really trying to pump up her followers. She shared
- 9:59Speaker 2: the reel on her Instagram story and wrote, I'm so
- 10:01Speaker 2: excited to start this challenge with you. I'm interested to
- 10:04Speaker 2: see if she will do it for the 60 days
- 10:06Speaker 2: because I've noticed as being a longtime follower of hers
- 10:10Speaker 2: that often she'll do it for the first couple of
- 10:11Speaker 2: days and then get too busy.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Surely she will.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I mean, she needs this to be quite a big
- 10:16Speaker 2: money earner for her, especially because of that failed perfume
- 10:19Speaker 2: deal she had. Yeah, well, I was thinking the timing
- 10:21Speaker 2: was pretty interesting because she dropped that she was creating
- 10:25Speaker 2: this secret project off the back of freshly being dumped
- 10:28Speaker 2: by Who Is Elijah from that perfume collaboration. So I
- 10:33Speaker 2: kind of got the vibe that it was a bit
- 10:34Speaker 2: of a cash grab. Maybe They were banking on getting
- 10:38Speaker 2: this money from Who Is Elijah and they need to
- 10:40Speaker 2: do something else. And I think it's going to be
- 10:42Speaker 2: extremely lucrative for her. Well, it makes a lot more
- 10:46Speaker 2: sense for her to release a fitness program. That's what
- 10:48Speaker 2: she is known for.
- 10:49Speaker 1: She's hardly known for her scent, is she?
- 10:52Speaker 2: But in saying that, I think she's moved away from
- 10:54Speaker 2: being this fitness influencer. She's more in the mummy blogger space.
- 10:59Speaker 2: And I thought it was also strange considering that only
- 11:01Speaker 2: a couple of months ago, she released her pregnancy and
- 11:04Speaker 2: postpartum workout guides that were supposedly challenging bounce back culture.
- 11:09Speaker 2: So the promotion she shared back in May was in
- 11:11Speaker 2: stark contrast to this 560 challenge. So she shot a
- 11:16Speaker 2: reel where she showed realistic vision of what her stomach
- 11:19Speaker 2: looked like in the early days of her postpartum journey.
- 11:23Speaker 2: She like pushed it around and showed it from different angles.
- 11:25Speaker 2: It was very raw and real. And while vision of
- 11:29Speaker 2: her exercising with her kids flashed across the screen, text
- 11:32Speaker 2: appeared on the reel that said, she didn't bounce back.
- 11:35Speaker 2: She moved forward. She created, grew, and birthed. She evolved
- 11:39Speaker 2: and matured. She became strong. She refined her past perceptions
- 11:42Speaker 2: of health and beauty. She is resilient. She is confident
- 11:45Speaker 2: and joyful. And at that time, she captioned the video,
- 11:49Speaker 2: if you knew me then, you don't know me now.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Particularly since having my second son, I have evolved, grown, learned,
- 11:55Speaker 2: and developed more than I had ever anticipated. My perception
- 11:58Speaker 2: of success and fulfillment are completely different than that of
- 12:01Speaker 2: my 25-year-old girl I once was. Growing my three babies
- 12:05Speaker 2: are by far three of my greatest achievements and truly
- 12:08Speaker 2: transformed the way I see, speak, and treat my body.
- 12:11Speaker 2: To all my mama bears juggling 100 different jobs in
- 12:13Speaker 2: a day, wearing multiple hats, and carrying the never-ending mental load,
- 12:16Speaker 2: you're incredible. Now, this reel, again, also went off even
- 12:21Speaker 2: though it was completely different to the challenge one. it
- 12:23Speaker 2: got 3.6 million views.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Despite doing so well on social media, I wonder if
- 12:28Speaker 1: this didn't perform very well for her sales-wise, because it
- 12:33Speaker 1: seems like a pretty quick turnaround to be releasing another guide.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Maybe Sarah doesn't actually have as many postpartum women following her.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I mean, this guide seems to be aimed at anybody
- 12:43Speaker 1: and everybody who is wanting to maybe start a new
- 12:47Speaker 1: fitness regime.
- 12:48Speaker 2: It's interesting you say that because initially when she was
- 12:50Speaker 2: dropping clues about this secret project, it seemed like it
- 12:53Speaker 2: was something aimed at mothers because she said that she'd
- 12:57Speaker 2: been inspired to create it because she'd lost her sense
- 13:00Speaker 2: of self during a difficult period of motherhood. And that's
- 13:04Speaker 2: why I was really shocked when I saw this promotion
- 13:06Speaker 2: because I was expecting a soft sort of holistic challenge
- 13:10Speaker 2: that allowed mums to do something for themselves and feel
- 13:13Speaker 2: supported by a community of other women. However, it just
- 13:16Speaker 2: seems like a spinoff of the very contentious 75 hard challenge.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Working out every day for 60 days is pretty extreme.
- 13:23Speaker 2: It's giving toxic dieting and over-exercising vibes.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Just on Sarah saying that she felt like she lost
- 13:29Speaker 1: herself and this project is for her. I mean, if
- 13:31Speaker 1: you think about it, Sarah's old identity before having her
- 13:34Speaker 1: children was this fitness queen so maybe in that sense
- 13:39Speaker 1: she's finding herself by going back to her roots and
- 13:42Speaker 1: releasing this fitness program for all of her followers not
- 13:44Speaker 1: just the mums yeah but the promo for the ebook
- 13:46Speaker 1: a couple of months ago for the postpartum one was
- 13:49Speaker 1: saying how much she's changed and that she now isn't
- 13:52Speaker 1: that person anymore so it does seem like a real
- 13:55Speaker 1: backflip from sarah because for years now i think she's
- 13:58Speaker 1: really tried to prove that she's changed from the this
- 14:01Speaker 1: person that used to push toxic dieting and fitness content.
- 14:05Speaker 1: But we don't necessarily know that it's toxic. We haven't
- 14:08Speaker 1: seen what the program is yet.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Well, I think a fitness challenge that makes you exercise
- 14:13Speaker 2: for 60 days in a row is going to be
- 14:17Speaker 2: quite extreme. I mean, even the promo and all the
- 14:20Speaker 2: zooming up of the body. I mean, it was all
- 14:22Speaker 2: about her body in that. Like we haven't seen anything
- 14:24Speaker 2: like that from fitness brands for a long time.
- 14:28Speaker 1: It is difficult for influencers because there is such a
- 14:30Speaker 1: fine line with being motivational and then something appearing quite toxic.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Because I know for me, I'm five months postpartum and
- 14:39Speaker 1: I am looking for content online that will inspire me
- 14:42Speaker 1: to get out and get fit and healthy. And unfortunately,
- 14:46Speaker 1: a lot of the time, we as consumers are drawn
- 14:49Speaker 1: to content like this. 60 days, you can change your
- 14:52Speaker 1: body in 60 days.
- 14:53Speaker 2: But I don't think it's a fine line. I think
- 14:56Speaker 2: this is clearly pushing toxic diet rhetoric. Get fit quickly.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And we know that the challenges like this don't work.
- 15:05Speaker 2: And this is all coming off the back of the
- 15:08Speaker 2: negative review. that Sarah received from the ABC about her
- 15:11Speaker 2: old workout guide, Sweat It to Shred It. So back
- 15:15Speaker 2: in April this year, the ABC enlisted this panel of
- 15:19Speaker 2: experts to review the most popular influencer exercise guides of
- 15:23Speaker 2: the 2010s. So they looked at Sarah's days, Sweat It
- 15:26Speaker 2: to Shred It. They also examined Kayla Adsenas' infamous bikini
- 15:30Speaker 2: body guide and Ashy Bynes' 7DK and And the experts
- 15:34Speaker 2: all agreed that the three guides put participants at risk
- 15:38Speaker 2: of developing unhealthy relationships with food and disordered eating. And
- 15:42Speaker 2: the risk was particularly worrying when you consider that the
- 15:44Speaker 2: target market these guides were aimed at were young women
- 15:47Speaker 2: who already have a predisposition for eating disorders. In fact,
- 15:51Speaker 2: the ABC was warned by the Butterfly Foundation and Inside
- 15:54Speaker 2: Out Institute to report on the guides with caution because
- 15:58Speaker 2: there was a risk associated with reporting about disordered eating
- 16:02Speaker 2: and exercise. So it just really worries me that it
- 16:05Speaker 2: seems like Sarah's day is going back to her golden
- 16:08Speaker 2: time of Instagram and YouTube and recycling a fitness challenge
- 16:13Speaker 2: that from the promotion looks toxic. I'm hoping that it's not.
- 16:18Speaker 2: I'm hoping that we see a much more balanced workout
- 16:21Speaker 2: routine with better food that a nutritionist has actually approved.
- 16:26Speaker 2: But when you promote it by showing off a toned,
- 16:30Speaker 2: lean body, Zooming in on abs and you're saying you're
- 16:33Speaker 2: going to be working out for 60 days. Everyone, we're
- 16:36Speaker 2: getting our shit together and doing this. I don't get
- 16:39Speaker 2: a good vibe from it.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Never, ever, ever let someone make you feel like you
- 16:44Speaker 3: are not good enough.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough isn't happy about Matt Zukowski's latest claims about
- 16:49Speaker 1: their failed relationship. The OG Australian influencer was left reeling
- 16:54Speaker 1: after her ex-husband revealed he felt dead inside during their
- 16:58Speaker 1: short-lived marriage. Now, Kate, you and Soph discussed Matt's claims
- 17:01Speaker 1: in depth on Friday's show, but can you give those
- 17:04Speaker 1: who missed it a quick summary?
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah, so Matt opened up about how he was feeling
- 17:09Speaker 2: during his marriage in an episode of his podcast dedicated
- 17:11Speaker 2: to R U OK?
- 17:13Speaker 4: Day.
- 17:13Speaker 2: And in that episode, he reflected on his past year
- 17:16Speaker 2: and conceded that he had hit rock bottom and struggled
- 17:19Speaker 2: to get out of bed. He also said he listened
- 17:21Speaker 2: back to an episode of his podcast from last year
- 17:24Speaker 2: and realized he's a completely different person now. He then
- 17:28Speaker 2: made the jibe about being dead inside this time last year,
- 17:31Speaker 2: which was just a few months out from his wedding
- 17:34Speaker 2: to Tammy Hembrough.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It surprised me to hear Matt say this because that
- 17:37Speaker 1: was definitely not the impression he was giving across this
- 17:41Speaker 1: time last year. It just shows you how fake social
- 17:43Speaker 1: media can be.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I personally wasn't surprised because you could tell there was
- 17:46Speaker 2: a lot going on behind the scenes. Now on Friday,
- 17:50Speaker 2: Tammy seemingly responded to Matt's claims with a pointed TikTok.
- 17:54Speaker 2: So she used one of those roulette style filters that
- 17:56Speaker 2: flicks through different options to decide what it was her
- 17:59Speaker 2: sign to do. So the filter landed on, this is
- 18:02Speaker 2: your sign to call them out. And Tammy really played
- 18:06Speaker 2: up to the camera acting as if this might be
- 18:08Speaker 2: a possibility, which sparked excitement in the comments. Unfortunately for us,
- 18:13Speaker 2: Tammy got cold feet. So she did film a call
- 18:16Speaker 2: out video. but then decided against posting it. So Tammy
- 18:19Speaker 2: touched on it during a Get Ready With Me video
- 18:21Speaker 2: she posted over the weekend. This is what she said.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I've been really good. Had a bit of a crash
- 18:28Speaker 3: out the other day. Like I started filming like a
- 18:31Speaker 3: full like crash out video that I was going to
- 18:34Speaker 3: post on TikTok, but I couldn't, like I could not
- 18:37Speaker 3: get through it without crying. And there is no way
- 18:41Speaker 3: that I will post myself crying on Instagram any freaking
- 18:46Speaker 3: app ever again because I'm just going to get made
- 18:48Speaker 3: fun of. You can't be vulnerable online because people just
- 18:51Speaker 3: make fun of you. Anyway, I'm glad I didn't post
- 18:54Speaker 3: it anyway because it was just a bit of a
- 18:56Speaker 3: bit of a moment. Other than that, I've been really good.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Now, this is clearly in reference to Aleema Amiga's video,
- 19:04Speaker 1: which went absolutely viral. And a couple of weeks ago,
- 19:07Speaker 1: we discussed whether we thought Tammy would find it funny.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I thought she would have, but it appears she didn't
- 19:12Speaker 1: find it funny at all.
- 19:13Speaker 3: No.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I mean, I suppose it didn't help that her two
- 19:17Speaker 2: exes and her ex's new partner liked the video. So
- 19:21Speaker 2: she probably felt like she was being ganged up on.
- 19:24Speaker 2: What I found most interesting about Tammy's video update was
- 19:27Speaker 2: just how much it actually mimicked what Matt said on
- 19:31Speaker 2: his podcast. So she said that she was feeling lighter
- 19:34Speaker 2: and more and more herself, which is essentially what Matt said.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And she also made a vibe about how she's learned
- 19:40Speaker 2: what she values, which is loyalty. And then said this.
- 19:43Speaker 3: I just feel like I've learned a lot. Never, ever,
- 19:46Speaker 3: ever let someone make you feel like you are not
- 19:49Speaker 3: good enough because.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And then for anyone who's playing along at home and
- 20:08Speaker 2: invested in Tammy's Invisalign journey, she dropped that she used
- 20:11Speaker 2: to suffer with pain from jaw clenching, but weirdly enough
- 20:15Speaker 2: it stopped after her breakup. Unfortunately, it's back now though
- 20:18Speaker 2: because of her Invisalign, which obviously is a pot shot
- 20:21Speaker 2: to say, well, I was so stressed in that relationship
- 20:25Speaker 2: that I was constantly clenching my jaw. Well, I think
- 20:27Speaker 2: it's a stroke of genius that she didn't put out
- 20:30Speaker 2: said crash out video because she still managed to take
- 20:34Speaker 2: a pot shot at Matt And not have shared all
- 20:36Speaker 2: these juicy details.
- 20:38Speaker 1: It says a lot without saying anything.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yeah, well, she understands that her posting a call-out video
- 20:43Speaker 2: of her crying and detailing all of the supposed things
- 20:46Speaker 2: that Matt has done to her would go viral. What's
- 20:49Speaker 2: not going to go as viral but still get her
- 20:51Speaker 2: message out there is her doing a get ready with
- 20:53Speaker 2: me and dropping a few little things about, oh, I
- 20:55Speaker 2: was going to do this but I just, you know,
- 20:57Speaker 2: I don't want to be paid out again online and
- 21:00Speaker 2: I'm not going to put myself through that.
- 21:02Speaker 1: And sometimes when you wade through all the dirty details–
- 21:04Speaker 1: your message can get lost.
- 21:06Speaker 2: I wonder if it's pending in her drafts though, like
- 21:08Speaker 2: that crying video was. Like she may have kept it
- 21:11Speaker 2: and go, might release this if he puts something else out.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I've got it up my sleeve.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Wait a second, I'm dirty with Aleema Omega now because
- 21:19Speaker 1: it sounds like he's cost us further details about this
- 21:21Speaker 1: breakup with his video.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Look, I think it's only a matter of time. I mean,
- 21:25Speaker 2: with every podcast Matt releases, he drops a few more
- 21:27Speaker 2: breadcrumbs and then We get a bit more back from Tammy. Well,
- 21:31Speaker 2: talking about breadcrumbs, Tammy has dropped a few of her
- 21:34Speaker 2: own in relation to the brown low. So she's been
- 21:36Speaker 2: documenting skin treatment she's undergoing at her sister's skin clinic.
- 21:41Speaker 1: This is what she said.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Come with me to my skin appointment. So my sisters
- 21:46Speaker 3: own a skin clinic. It's called Skin. They're always booked
- 21:49Speaker 3: out though, but I've booked in appointments every single week
- 21:53Speaker 3: now because I have something coming up that I need
- 21:55Speaker 3: like really good skin for.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Tammy is clearly going to the Brownlow. What other event
- 22:00Speaker 2: is she working so hard on getting her skin looking
- 22:03Speaker 2: good for? She knows that when she steps foot on
- 22:06Speaker 2: that red carpet, she is going to have the eyes
- 22:09Speaker 2: of all of the mainstream media of Australia on her.
- 22:12Speaker 2: And it seems like the AFL is annoyed that all
- 22:15Speaker 2: the attention about the Brownlow is on Tammy. And it
- 22:17Speaker 2: seems like they're trying to shift the attention back onto
- 22:20Speaker 2: the football because an AFL insider has been quoted telling
- 22:24Speaker 2: News Corp The Brownlow is who is the fairest and
- 22:27Speaker 2: best player in the competition as opposed to who has
- 22:30Speaker 2: the hottest girlfriend.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure if you looked at the ratings though,
- 22:33Speaker 1: the viewership would peak during the red carpet at the
- 22:36Speaker 1: Brownlow and significantly drop off.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Oh, definitely.
- 22:39Speaker 2: I mean, Everyone wants to see what's going on in
- 22:42Speaker 2: the red carpet. No one really cares about the count
- 22:44Speaker 2: itself until the end of the night when it gets close.
- 22:48Speaker 2: And Bailey Smith is actually one of the three AFL
- 22:51Speaker 2: players that ESPN's Brownlee predictor has sitting on top of
- 22:55Speaker 2: the leaderboard. So if Tammy is there, it seems like
- 22:58Speaker 2: she may get a bit of airtime. It's not like
- 23:00Speaker 2: she's dating one of the players that doesn't get any votes.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Like they're going to be panning up on him and
- 23:05Speaker 2: her at this function.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the AFL might be pissed off about it,
- 23:08Speaker 1: but I'm pretty sure Channel 7 will be loving the
- 23:11Speaker 1: thought of Tammy being there.
- 23:12Speaker 2: The AFL should be welcoming her with open arms. I mean,
- 23:16Speaker 2: Sophie and I spoke about the Taylor Swift, Travis, Kelsey
- 23:19Speaker 2: NFL effect. They should be examining that and seeing how
- 23:21Speaker 2: they can harness it with the AFL. Well, that's where
- 23:24Speaker 2: we're going to leave things today. But if you do
