- 0:01Speaker 2: Now, I want you to picture a room filled with objects,
- 0:04Speaker 2: each one harboring a dark secret.
- 0:07Speaker 1: A story of curses, spirits, and terror.
- 0:10Speaker 2: This is Ed and Lorraine Warren's Occult Museum, where every
- 0:14Speaker 2: item isn't just haunted, but a link to the unknown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: My name is Selina Myers, and hey, welcome to the
- 0:21Speaker 1: Haunted Estate. How you doing, Adam?
- 0:23Speaker 3: Pretty good. I don't want any links to the unknown, though.
- 0:26Speaker 1: We have links to the unknown in our house. Yes,
- 0:28Speaker 1: we do. We have links to unknown... Links to the
- 0:32Speaker 1: unknown right here.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Who's that?
- 0:34Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't want to talk about it.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I'm sure we're about to hear about her.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Okay. All right.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Let's get into it. Hidden in Monroe, Connecticut, is a
- 0:40Speaker 1: museum unlike any other.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Ed and Lorraine Warren, renowned paranormal investigators, collected haunted artifacts
- 0:47Speaker 2: over their decades of work. These objects, from cursed dolls
- 0:50Speaker 2: to sinister relics, carry stories that are as frightening as
- 0:54Speaker 2: they are real. And first up, we have Annabelle herself.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Beginning with Annabelle, 2014, followed by Annabelle The Creation, 2017.
- 1:02Speaker 1: These are movies. Annabelle was well-known long.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Before she graced the big screen in The Conjuring and
- 1:09Speaker 2: later featured in her own horror trilogy, The Well-Known Paranormal Investigators.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Ed and Lorraine Warren have spun an unsettling story about Annabelle.
- 1:19Speaker 2: They said that an evil spirit possessed the apparently innocent
- 1:22Speaker 2: Raggedy Ann doll, given to a nurse by her mother.
- 1:25Speaker 2: The Warrens claimed that the doll was more than just
- 1:28Speaker 2: a toy. It could perform terrible deeds, including writing threatening
- 1:32Speaker 2: notes and perhaps physically hurting the nurse.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And her roommate.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Both, 25 years old, Laura Clifton and Deidre Bernard, shared
- 1:41Speaker 2: an apartment in Deidre had just gotten the Raggedy Ann
- 1:44Speaker 2: doll from her mother on her 24th birthday. Laura was
- 1:47Speaker 2: engaged to a man called Cal Randall.

- 3:31Speaker 2: now let's get back to the show. The doll was
- 3:33Speaker 2: remarkably big, almost the same size as a four-year-old toddler.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Not long after Deidre brought the doll into the house,
- 3:41Speaker 2: the women started to observe odd events.
- 3:44Speaker 1: The doll was.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Often reappearing in various postures, even in different rooms where
- 3:49Speaker 2: they hadn't left it. The doll appeared to be moving
- 3:52Speaker 2: on its own. They left the doll on Deidre's bed
- 3:55Speaker 2: one day and returned to discover it kneeling in the
- 3:58Speaker 2: living room. The girls tried to make the doll kneel
- 4:02Speaker 2: as they had discovered it, but each effort resulted in
- 4:05Speaker 2: the doll toppling over.
- 4:07Speaker 1: It just couldn't balance on its own.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Nope.
- 4:10Speaker 1: No.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Nope, nope, nope.
- 4:11Speaker 1: That's an out the window.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Yep.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Bye.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Like this kind of paranormal problem in your home freaks
- 4:18Speaker 3: me out way more than like a cupboard opening or
- 4:21Speaker 3: something moving on the table.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Paranormal items are scary.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Items, dolls.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Dolls.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Dolls in general.
- 4:26Speaker 1: We have our own doll story.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Freaky.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Remember that doll we tried to get rid of?
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah. I had bought a very scary tourist doll. It
- 4:32Speaker 2: was really cool looking. It came from the Barbados or something.
- 4:35Speaker 1: It was from the 70s. I bought it. I kept
- 4:37Speaker 1: it in this drawer.
- 4:38Speaker 2: But every time I opened this drawer, I felt weird.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Then I started dreaming about the doll, right? And then
- 4:44Speaker 2: I started having really dark dreams. At first, she came
- 4:46Speaker 2: to me and she was so nice and considerate. And
- 4:48Speaker 2: I thought this was like a beautiful spirit of like
- 4:50Speaker 2: a woman who wanted to help me and be kind, whatever. No,
- 4:54Speaker 2: I started having nightmares about the doll, where the doll
- 4:55Speaker 2: was a woman and she was beating me and she
- 4:57Speaker 2: was trying to hurt me. So we tried to get
- 4:58Speaker 2: rid of this doll. So we went, I like doing
- 5:01Speaker 2: salt baths on things. I don't know why we didn't
- 5:03Speaker 2: bury it. I think it was because we lived in
- 5:05Speaker 2: the town or something. But we took it out to
- 5:07Speaker 2: try and put it in this conservation area. Weird noises
- 5:10Speaker 2: everywhere left. Ended up putting it in a garbage can
- 5:13Speaker 2: and a baseball diamond and pouring.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Salt on it.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Funny thing. About that. The conservation area we were at
- 5:19Speaker 3: is the one just down the road from us now.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah, we literally live near it.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank gosh it's not there.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Thank God it's not there.
- 5:25Speaker 2: The girls soon began finding messages throughout the apartment, as
- 5:28Speaker 2: if the dolls' activities weren't already terrifying. Written in pencil
- 5:32Speaker 2: on bits of paper, these notes had frightening words like,
- 5:35Speaker 2: Help Cal and help us. Not only did the women
- 5:39Speaker 2: not know the significance behind the messages, Laura's boyfriend Cal
- 5:43Speaker 2: wasn't in any apparent danger. But they also couldn't discover
- 5:47Speaker 2: a pencil in their apartment that could have been used
- 5:49Speaker 2: to write the letters. Laura and Deidre first thought someone
- 5:53Speaker 2: might be pulling a sophisticated hoax on them. To find
- 5:56Speaker 2: out whether somebody was visiting their flat while they were away,
- 5:59Speaker 2: they arranged markers and traps. But there was never any
- 6:03Speaker 2: proof of an intruder. Rather, the events connected to Annabelle
- 6:07Speaker 2: got even more unsettling. They thought the doll had given
- 6:11Speaker 2: them a piece of chocolate as a Christmas gift one day.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Another day, they found droplets of blood on it. Seeking solutions,
- 6:18Speaker 2: the girls turned to a medium. The medium that they
- 6:22Speaker 2: spoke to... You know what, before we even get into this,
- 6:25Speaker 2: I had a conversation the other day because I met
- 6:26Speaker 2: with a psychic, the lovely Valerie Boyce.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I'm going to be very honest.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I have been to so many mediums and so many psychics,
- 6:32Speaker 2: and I feel like if you have 50 psychics in
- 6:33Speaker 2: a room, five of them are real.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Psychics at this point.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Like a good one to 10 ratio.
- 6:39Speaker 1: It's a one to 10 ratio at this point. I
- 6:40Speaker 1: really think so. There's a lot of people.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 3: There's a lot of money to be made with something
- 6:44Speaker 3: that you can somewhat fake.
- 6:46Speaker 2: And I think that, you know, a lot of them
- 6:47Speaker 2: are very intuitive. One time I went to the psychic fair.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Everyone's like, yes, this psychic. She had so much marketing.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I hadn't heard from anyone, but she had so much marketing.
- 6:54Speaker 2: They had like people's accounts on the wall and stuff.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm going to her. And I sat there
- 6:58Speaker 2: and I have never been read so wrong in my
- 7:00Speaker 2: entire life. She said in four years, I would marry
- 7:03Speaker 2: a small Mexican man, but I am married to a
- 7:05Speaker 2: large Dutchman. But she went on to say some other
- 7:07Speaker 2: things that were show off.
- 7:08Speaker 1: It was weird.
- 7:09Speaker 2: She said I was married to a small Mexican man.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I would have three different children by three different men.
- 7:13Speaker 2: And I would never make more than minimum wage.
- 7:15Speaker 3: And we're not saying she's not legit. Like, sometimes you
- 7:17Speaker 3: just can't get a reading from somebody. It doesn't work
- 7:20Speaker 3: great every time for everybody.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm going to tell you what. I was
- 7:23Speaker 2: with two people that day who all got a reading
- 7:25Speaker 2: from this woman. And we all sat in the car
- 7:27Speaker 2: and we're.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Like, what was that?
- 7:28Speaker 3: So this is a skeptical situation.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and she went into it like, she's like, no, no.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And I'm like, no, I'm married. She's like, no, you're
- 7:34Speaker 2: going to marry a small Mexican man in four years.
- 7:36Speaker 1: And I was like, there.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Okay, let's get on it.
- 7:39Speaker 2: It's been like a good eight since then, so we're good.
- 7:41Speaker 2: The medium they spoke with informed them that the property
- 7:43Speaker 2: where their apartment presently stood... held the spirit of a
- 7:46Speaker 2: small child named Annabelle Higgins.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Since the nurses were the.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Only young people in the structure, the ghost was supposed
- 7:53Speaker 2: to have taken a liking to them. The psychic says
- 7:56Speaker 2: that the spirit started playing with them by moving the
- 7:59Speaker 2: doll about. Said to be lonely and searching for love,
- 8:02Speaker 2: the small girl's spirit asked the nurses if she could
- 8:05Speaker 2: live with them by asking to inhabit the doll. The
- 8:08Speaker 2: females agreed, wanting to be helpful. Later on, the Warrens
- 8:13Speaker 2: said that this was a serious error. They maintained that
- 8:16Speaker 2: the inexperience of the medium in handling evil spirits had
- 8:19Speaker 2: unintentionally put the nurses at risk. So there's a big
- 8:22Speaker 2: thing that goes with this. I understand, you know, you
- 8:25Speaker 2: feel a motherly thing. You hear this dead child.
- 8:28Speaker 1: You want to give this dead child a place to live.
- 8:31Speaker 2: But the truth is, when it comes to demons and stuff,
- 8:33Speaker 2: they will play a cute little person to try and...
- 8:38Speaker 2: get into your life. Where the truth is, we never
- 8:40Speaker 2: really know what we're talking to. A lot of the
- 8:43Speaker 2: time you'll see in movies, people think that they're talking
- 8:44Speaker 2: to dead relatives or dead family, but that's not it
- 8:47Speaker 2: at all.
- 8:47Speaker 1: It's something else.
- 8:48Speaker 2: And that's when you really have to investigate. And again,
- 8:52Speaker 2: a lot of people don't know what they're doing. So
- 8:55Speaker 2: sometimes just leaving those things alone is cool.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Here's my suggestion.
- 8:57Speaker 2: You want to ghost hunt. You want to do something.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Don't do it in your house. Do it in a structure.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Do it in an abandoned building. Just don't do it
- 9:03Speaker 2: in your own house, okay? So at the end of this,
- 9:05Speaker 2: the girls had unwittingly let a demonic entity into their
- 9:08Speaker 2: lives by inviting the ghost to occupy the Annabelle doll.
- 9:12Speaker 2: The Warrens claimed that the building never housed Annabelle Higgins.
- 9:15Speaker 2: No spirit of a small child ever existed here. Rather,
- 9:19Speaker 2: the nurses came upon a cruel spirit, a demonic power.
- 9:23Speaker 2: The doll seemed to get stronger as her actions got
- 9:25Speaker 2: more vigorous. Cal, Laura's fiance, started having intense dreams where
- 9:30Speaker 2: Annabelle attacked him. One especially terrible night, Lara and Cal
- 9:34Speaker 2: were left alone in the apartment, and they heard sounds.
- 9:37Speaker 1: From Deidre's room.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Cal heard and went to look and discovered Annabelle. Something
- 9:43Speaker 2: sliced his chest as he moved away from the doll,
- 9:46Speaker 2: soaking his shirt with blood and leaving seven claw scars.
- 9:51Speaker 2: The Warrens sought a priest to do an exorcism on
- 9:53Speaker 2: the apartment, as well on Deidre, laura and cal since
- 9:57Speaker 2: the situation had gotten so severe annabelle was taken to
- 10:00Speaker 2: the warrens following the exorcism locked within a glass exhibit
- 10:04Speaker 2: in their occulted museum for years inquisitive guests would highlight
- 10:08Speaker 2: this case as the main focus ed and lorraine warren
- 10:11Speaker 2: have passed away now and their daughter and son-in-law now
- 10:15Speaker 2: own the annabelle doll and keep her tightly under control
- 10:19Speaker 2: Next up, we have the Perrin family music box. First
- 10:23Speaker 2: seen in the original movie, the music box is among
- 10:25Speaker 2: the most mysterious deadly relics.
- 10:28Speaker 1: In the Conjuring universe.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Lorraine Warren noticed this apparently benign object during her research
- 10:34Speaker 2: at the Perrin family house, where a demonic presence plagued
- 10:37Speaker 2: the family. Playing the music box, Lorraine saw, to her horror,
- 10:41Speaker 2: the mirror reflecting a small child, verifying that evil spirits
- 10:45Speaker 2: were prowling the cursed house.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Pause. So you see a child in a mirror. you
- 10:50Speaker 1: immediately think that's a demon.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Had any demon-y thing?
- 10:53Speaker 2: I guess she was called to the house for dark
- 10:54Speaker 2: things happening, but like, just because you see a child
- 10:56Speaker 2: doesn't mean it's a demon, okay? Even though I said
- 10:58Speaker 2: all the time they come out with this.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Kid, if you don't know, you don't know, right? We've
- 11:01Speaker 1: got to look deeper here.
- 11:02Speaker 2: One of the Conjuring movies explores the sinister and terrible
- 11:05Speaker 2: abilities of the music box more closely. Created by Ray Fox,
- 11:08Speaker 2: Christopher Mitten, Brendan Wagner, and Becca Carey, the backup narrative,
- 11:13Speaker 2: Tales from the Artifact Room, The Sleeping Song, blurs the
- 11:16Speaker 2: border between dreams and reality. The story revolves around Nicole,
- 11:20Speaker 2: a young pianist still in mourning over the death of
- 11:23Speaker 2: her infant child.
- 11:23Speaker 3: What'd you say?
- 11:24Speaker 1: Pianist.
- 11:25Speaker 3: What'd you say?
- 11:26Speaker 1: Pianist.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I hope there's no 69s in this.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Nicole reveals that her baby often sobbed excessively and that
- 11:34Speaker 2: she would often play the piano.
- 11:36Speaker 1: To help her relax from her great loss.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Her connection with her husband, who comes home one day
- 11:40Speaker 2: to discover Nicole missed rehearsal and aggravates her loss. Angry
- 11:44Speaker 2: and worried, he charges her with becoming drunk and implies
- 11:48Speaker 2: that her fixation on the music box has distorted her thinking. Nicole,
- 11:52Speaker 2: on the other hand, thinks that her husband killed their
- 11:54Speaker 2: child since he strangled the infant out of annoyance over
- 11:58Speaker 2: the ongoing sobbing. Nicole is unaware that the ghostly apparition
- 12:02Speaker 2: from the ages before reflected in the music box has
- 12:05Speaker 2: been influencing her all along. The lad has driven her
- 12:08Speaker 2: to the verge of crazy and warped her view of
- 12:10Speaker 2: reality and twisted her hallucinations, fueled by the conviction that
- 12:14Speaker 2: she is exacting revenge for the murder of her child
- 12:18Speaker 2: nicole grabs a knife and stabs her husband in a
- 12:20Speaker 2: flash of wrath she thinks that she is giving justice
- 12:22Speaker 2: but she's not aware that the lad has implanted these
- 12:25Speaker 2: horrible thoughts into her head nicole sits down with the
- 12:28Speaker 2: music box following the horrific deed melancholic totally enthralled by
- 12:33Speaker 2: its tune ignorant i'm not saying it ignorant of the
- 12:36Speaker 2: blood soaked sight around her the music box plays as
- 12:38Speaker 2: she seeks comfort in the memories of her child According
- 12:42Speaker 2: to the narrative, the music box draws strength from the sorrow.
- 12:45Speaker 1: And the loss that it causes.
- 12:46Speaker 2: The narrative raises questions about Nicole's baby's death, natural causes,
- 12:51Speaker 2: or if the boy's influence drove her to kill the
- 12:53Speaker 2: infant herself. Unquestionably, the Wicked Ghost has its power, since
- 12:58Speaker 2: it had previously plagued the Perrin household's children. Ed Warren
- 13:01Speaker 2: had the music box locked away in his artifact room,
- 13:04Speaker 2: along with other cursed items, because he knew of its
- 13:07Speaker 2: dark energies. Although the music box was not a big
- 13:10Speaker 2: factor in the later movies, the story implies that its
- 13:13Speaker 2: corrupting effect may have been far more important. If not
- 13:16Speaker 2: for Bathsheba and the evil ghost haunting the Perrin family,
- 13:19Speaker 2: the music box may have caused considerably more damage, maybe
- 13:23Speaker 2: motivating Roger or Carolyn to carry out terrible deeds. Now
- 13:28Speaker 2: next up, one we've all seen, the demonic toy monkey.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Within the Warrens' vast collection of supernatural relics is the
- 13:35Speaker 2: accordion-playing monkey.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I literally have the symbol monkey here. I have no
- 13:43Speaker 1: idea where this came from.
- 13:44Speaker 3: No idea.
- 13:45Speaker 1: No idea at all. This monkey is among some of the.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Most recognizable and disturbing objects in the Conjuring universe. Often
- 13:51Speaker 2: seen in the backdrop of their haunted museum, this creepy
- 13:54Speaker 2: antique has enthralled visitors with its quiet, threatening presence. The
- 13:59Speaker 2: pages of DC Horror's The Conjuring, The Lover No. 3,
- 14:03Speaker 2: just reveals the sources of this.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Unsettling thing at last. I get it. It's a comic book. Okay,
- 14:07Speaker 1: now I make sense. What was that?
- 14:12Speaker 2: The narrative explores a sad and ominous past of the monkey,
- 14:16Speaker 2: exposing a narrative full of pain and terror that exactly
- 14:20Speaker 2: fits the gloomy tone of the Conjuring series. Tim Seeley's
- 14:23Speaker 2: The Conjuring, The Lover No. 3, carries readers back to 1930,
- 14:28Speaker 2: with its colors by Jordi Belair and the artwork by
- 14:30Speaker 2: Kelly Jones. It presents the unfortunate Root family, an unidentified
- 14:35Speaker 2: doctor and his nurse Maureen, The doctor starts the narrative
- 14:38Speaker 2: by watching Maureen's quick plunge into what he considers to
- 14:41Speaker 2: be lunacy. Following the birth of Joey, the newborn child
- 14:45Speaker 2: of the Root family, Maureen believes that Joey is an
- 14:47Speaker 2: evil spirit rather than a typical infant. Her worries are
- 14:50Speaker 2: heightened when the other newborns in the hospital start to
- 14:53Speaker 2: show odd marks, which she reads as evidence of something
- 14:56Speaker 2: sinister at work. Maureen's worries are dismissed by the doctor,
- 14:59Speaker 2: who also believes her.
- 15:01Speaker 1: To be mentally unwell and assigns the scratches to rodents. Therefore.
- 15:06Speaker 2: guiding Maureen to an asylum. The doctor gives the Root
- 15:09Speaker 2: family an accordion-playing monkey in an effort to provide some
- 15:13Speaker 2: sort of normalcy, as he helps ease the anguish around
- 15:16Speaker 2: Joey's birth. His goal is for the monkey to be
- 15:19Speaker 2: a happy diversion, something the family might look back on
- 15:21Speaker 2: with nostalgia despite the trying conditions. Far from the comfort,
- 15:25Speaker 2: the monkey soon starts to show itself as a forerunner
- 15:29Speaker 2: of disaster. The monkey's music plays a sinister soundtrack to
- 15:32Speaker 2: the Root's family's sorrow every time disaster strikes. The whole
- 15:37Speaker 2: misery of the narrative becomes clear when one realizes that
- 15:39Speaker 2: the monkey is an active cause rather than just a
- 15:43Speaker 2: spectator of these happenings. The first big occurrence starts when
- 15:46Speaker 2: the doctor dies in a tragical vehicle accident on his
- 15:50Speaker 2: way to see the Root family. The monkey is there
- 15:52Speaker 2: when the catastrophe happens, Its haunting tune suggests that it
- 15:56Speaker 2: planned the incident. The comic deftly raises suspense by implying
- 16:00Speaker 2: approaching catastrophe from the presence of the monkey. The pattern
- 16:04Speaker 2: is often evident with every single next tragedy. The monkey's
- 16:08Speaker 2: song plays, and something horrible follows.
- 16:12Speaker 1: So it must do it on its own.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Spooky.
- 16:14Speaker 2: The narrative vividly captures all the evil impact on the
- 16:16Speaker 2: accordion monkey, turning from a basic toy into a symbol
- 16:20Speaker 2: of certain horror. The way the monkey's happy facade contrasts
- 16:24Speaker 2: with the horror causes to make the story much more terrifying.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Once content and hopeful, the curse that the monkey brings
- 16:31Speaker 2: into their life gradually ruins the Root family. Unable to
- 16:34Speaker 2: flee from the monkey's cursed music, the apparently benign gift
- 16:38Speaker 2: becomes a nightmare for the family, and they find themselves
- 16:41Speaker 2: caught in a cycle of death and suffering. The comic
- 16:44Speaker 2: emphasizes the absolute risk of the accordion playing monkey.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Like, dude, throw it out the window.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Right?
- 16:50Speaker 2: Even though it does not show how he finally gets
- 16:52Speaker 2: to the Warrens' artifact room, Jocko is among some of
- 16:55Speaker 2: the most horrible artifacts in the Warrens' collection, since he
- 16:58Speaker 2: can bring devastation and anarchy with just a basic tune.
- 17:02Speaker 2: The notion that such a little simple object could have
- 17:04Speaker 2: such an influence adds to.
- 17:06Speaker 1: The mystery and the horror.
- 17:07Speaker 2: The narrative makes readers uncomfortable to realize that this unfathomable
- 17:12Speaker 2: evil can hide in the most benign-looking objects. Next up,
- 17:17Speaker 2: we have the Pearls of Death. In the realm of
- 17:19Speaker 2: the Conjuring, the spine-chilling tales develop around a lot of
- 17:23Speaker 2: cursed things. Among these ghostly artifacts are the Pearls of Death.
- 17:27Speaker 2: They stand out among the most hazardous and haunted objects
- 17:30Speaker 2: in the Warren's occult collection. Although these pearls have not
- 17:33Speaker 2: yet made their appearance in the Conjuring film universe, the
- 17:36Speaker 2: terrible legacy is well documented in the actual world.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Those who dare to wear.
- 17:41Speaker 2: These cursed pearls are supposed to be strangled in a
- 17:43Speaker 2: way that transcends a basic case of too tight necklace,
- 17:48Speaker 2: therefore rendering their victims dead. Though the idea of cursed
- 17:53Speaker 2: goods is not novel, the pearls of death present a
- 17:56Speaker 2: particularly horrific illustration. Tony Spurra, the son-in-law of the Warrens,
- 18:01Speaker 2: said that these pearls were added to the museum following
- 18:04Speaker 2: a woman's allegation that they.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Had tried to strangle her.
- 18:08Speaker 2: According to the legend, the pearls around the unhappy woman's
- 18:11Speaker 2: neck started to tighten with the life of its own.
- 18:14Speaker 2: It was not only a little annoyance or a tight fit,
- 18:17Speaker 2: not like she was gaining weight, the pearls reportedly strangled
- 18:20Speaker 2: her so severely that she required others to physically rip
- 18:24Speaker 2: them off her to save her life. This was something
- 18:27Speaker 2: considerably more frightening than just badly sized jewelry.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Okay, this is freakier than the dolls. I take that
- 18:34Speaker 3: back about the dolls. Wearing something around your neck that's
- 18:38Speaker 3: haunted and not knowing it, definitely my new fear. Spooky.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Dreams of a piece of jewelry turning on its wearer
- 18:46Speaker 2: are the stuff of horror. Imagine slipping on a lovely
- 18:49Speaker 2: set of pearls to discover you are struggling to breathe
- 18:52Speaker 2: as they constrict around your neck. The pearls of death
- 18:54Speaker 2: are among the most perilous objects in the Warrens' collection
- 18:58Speaker 2: since the woman went through this horrific reality. Although it's
- 19:01Speaker 2: a comfort knowing that now these pearls just lie on
- 19:04Speaker 2: museum shelves, Instead of around someone's neck, their existence nonetheless
- 19:09Speaker 2: reminds us of the evil powers that might have fixed
- 19:11Speaker 2: themselves to something that.
- 19:13Speaker 1: We use every day.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Though they haven't shown up in the Conjuring movies yet,
- 19:17Speaker 2: The Pearls of Death would suit the universe as a
- 19:20Speaker 2: story of cursed and haunted objects rather readily.
- 19:23Speaker 1: It would be a cool movie.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Already, the movies have looked at several cursed objects, each
- 19:28Speaker 2: with a sinister impact and a terrible tale from the
- 19:31Speaker 2: Annabelle doll to the music box, to the accordion monkey,
- 19:34Speaker 2: these objects actively participate in the atrocities that take place,
- 19:38Speaker 2: rather than only inert objects. With their history of strangling,
- 19:42Speaker 2: the Pearls of Death would be a fitting addition to
- 19:44Speaker 2: this collection of evil relics, adding still more layers of
- 19:47Speaker 2: fear to the already vast Conjuring universe.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Universe.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Next up, we have the Werewolf Paws. A terrifying scene
- 19:54Speaker 2: in Annabelle Comes Home exposes yet another frightening thing in
- 19:58Speaker 2: the Warren's Artifact Room.
- 20:00Speaker 1: A werewolf claw. Oh god, I hope werewolves are real. Man.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Where the hell have you been, loco?
- 20:07Speaker 2: Though it seems like just another eerie relic, this claw
- 20:10Speaker 2: is a homage to one of the most strange and
- 20:11Speaker 2: horrific cases the Warrens ever came across. The London 1980
- 20:16Speaker 2: werewolf case not only is this real account of demonic
- 20:20Speaker 2: possession unique, but also its startling ramifications. This one included
- 20:24Speaker 2: a man said to be possessed by the spirit of
- 20:27Speaker 2: a werewolf, which set off horrific outbursts of violence and wrath.
- 20:32Speaker 2: The narrative revolves around Bill Ramsey, a man whose horrific
- 20:36Speaker 2: actions gained him notoriety in his neighborhood. Sometimes with the
- 20:40Speaker 2: force of a guy twice his weight, Ramsey's unusual episodes
- 20:43Speaker 2: would consist of blacking out and waking up to discover
- 20:46Speaker 2: he had attacked people around him, showing remarkably similar actions
- 20:50Speaker 2: to those of a wolf.
- 20:51Speaker 3: So it was like a guy with sundowners, like, almost.
- 20:55Speaker 3: It was like a sundowner slash... We don't know, man.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Something weird going on.
- 20:59Speaker 2: There's a weird chemistry thing that happens in the brain
- 21:01Speaker 2: when it gets dark, so maybe he was just not
- 21:03Speaker 2: set up right. He would run about on all fours
- 21:06Speaker 2: and use his fingers like claws. These events set off
- 21:09Speaker 2: local alarm and attracted police attention as they tried to
- 21:12Speaker 2: explain how an average man could suddenly display such remarkable
- 21:17Speaker 2: and horrible behavior.
- 21:19Speaker 3: This is the first account on record of furries. He
- 21:23Speaker 3: was the original furry.
- 21:24Speaker 1: He was the original furry in the 1800s.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And also a psycho.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and a psycho.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Ramsey's narrative traveled to the Warrens, who were always on
- 21:33Speaker 2: the search for cases involving the supernatural. As the frequency
- 21:36Speaker 2: and intensity of the events increased, especially Lorraine Warren, connected
- 21:41Speaker 2: strongly to Ramsey's case, Ed and Lorraine Warren went to
- 21:44Speaker 2: London to see if he was under the control of
- 21:47Speaker 2: a wicked ghost or demon. The Warrens had decided that
- 21:50Speaker 2: Ramsey's wild outbursts were caused by the evil spirit of
- 21:53Speaker 2: a wolf or demon, and they needed a fledged exorcism
- 21:57Speaker 2: to release him. Reportedly, the exorcism was successful and happened
- 22:02Speaker 2: on American territory. No more tormented by the wolf-like behavior
- 22:06Speaker 2: that had haunted him for years, Bill Ramsey was able
- 22:09Speaker 2: to go home. Although he never physically changed into a werewolf,
- 22:12Speaker 2: his behavior during his episodes was sufficient to persuade those
- 22:16Speaker 2: who saw it as something well beyond the norm of
- 22:20Speaker 2: a person's actions. The Warrens' participation in the case enhanced
- 22:24Speaker 2: their reputation as paranormal investigators, handling the most unusual and
- 22:28Speaker 2: threatening facets of the supernatural. Okay guys, now this is
- 22:32Speaker 2: a funny one. We're going to talk about a haunted brick, alright?
- 22:35Speaker 2: So apparently one of the most spooky objects kept in
- 22:38Speaker 2: the Warren Occult Museums is a basic brick. But it's...
- 22:43Speaker 2: But its roots are at Borley Rectory, one of the
- 22:45Speaker 2: most haunted sites in England.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Okay, that's cool. Designed as a dwelling for Borley's Rector.
- 22:50Speaker 2: In 1862, this house was not a typical construction job.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It became well known over the years for being a
- 22:57Speaker 1: hub of paranormal activity.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Among the most horrible haunted homes in the United Kingdom.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Damn.
- 23:05Speaker 2: When a fire tore through the Borley Rectory in 1939,
- 23:08Speaker 2: the structure was left in ruins. The remnants were totally
- 23:12Speaker 2: destroyed by 1944, but not before the place attracted attention
- 23:17Speaker 2: of paranormal research. Renowned paranormal researcher Harry Price was among
- 23:22Speaker 2: the most famous people to investigate the strange events at
- 23:25Speaker 2: Borley Rectory. His studies not only served to heighten the
- 23:29Speaker 2: terrible reputation of the mansion, since he documented several paranormal experiences,
- 23:34Speaker 2: including sightings of a ghostly nun, a phantom car passing by,
- 23:38Speaker 2: and the eerie sounds of horse-drawn carriages, on the grounds.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Local legends hold that a sad love story is the
- 23:45Speaker 2: source of the ghostly nun stalking the premises. The story
- 23:49Speaker 2: goes of a nun who developed feelings for a monk
- 23:51Speaker 2: from a nearby convent. Their forbidden love caused them to
- 23:55Speaker 2: try an elopement, but they were soon found. The monk
- 23:59Speaker 2: was taken to the gallows as punishment, and the nun
- 24:01Speaker 2: met an even more terrible destiny. She was locked alive
- 24:05Speaker 2: inside the nunnery walls. her restless soul thought to always
- 24:09Speaker 2: be prowling Borley Rectory in quest of the monk she
- 24:12Speaker 2: once loved. Although the narrative is sad, it gives the
- 24:16Speaker 2: frightening incidents claimed at the rectory a moving layer. When
- 24:20Speaker 2: the then-owners, Guy Eric Smith and his wife, reported unusual
- 24:24Speaker 2: and inexplicable incidents in 1928, the earliest known accounts of
- 24:28Speaker 2: ghostly activity at Borley Rectory arose. Troubled by the events,
- 24:32Speaker 2: they got in touch with a nearby newspaper, which dispatched
- 24:35Speaker 2: Harry Price.
- 24:36Speaker 1: To look at it further.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Spending a year at Borley Rectory, Price recorded a great
- 24:41Speaker 2: spectrum of poltergeist events. Among these were unexplained knockings, objects
- 24:46Speaker 2: moving on their own, and eerie experiences with the dead
- 24:49Speaker 2: former occupant, Reverend Harry.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Bull, who had died in the house.
- 24:53Speaker 2: The Smiths left the residence since the mysterious activity continued,
- 24:58Speaker 2: even with their efforts to clean the premises. The next
- 25:01Speaker 2: residents of Borley Rectory, Reverend Lionel Foster and his wife Marianne, too,
- 25:06Speaker 2: became victims of the strange events. Still, the poltergeist behavior
- 25:10Speaker 2: during their visit was far more forceful. Their experience at
- 25:13Speaker 2: Borley Rectory was even more horrific, with the reports of
- 25:16Speaker 2: broken windows, shattered glass, and physical assaults on Marianne. who
- 25:21Speaker 2: was supposedly thrown from her bed in the middle of
- 25:24Speaker 2: the night.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Hail to the no!
- 25:27Speaker 2: Finally destroyed by a fire allegedly started by an oil
- 25:30Speaker 2: lamp in 1939, the house, though its notoriety as one
- 25:34Speaker 2: of the most haunted homes in the United Kingdom, continues.
- 25:38Speaker 2: The property was left in ruins until its demolition in 1944.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Now housed at the Warren Occult Museum, the brick provides
- 25:46Speaker 2: a physical link to a site where terrible events and
- 25:49Speaker 2: strong paranormal activity took place.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Were reported. Nice. All right.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Next up, we have the black magic dolls. Annabelle usually
- 25:58Speaker 2: is the one to take the stage in the front
- 26:00Speaker 2: when it comes to haunted dolls.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Yep.
- 26:03Speaker 1: But she is not the only one hiding in the shadows. Hey, girl.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Many more dolls in the Warren Occult Museum also merit
- 26:11Speaker 2: equally terrifying attention. Tony Spira claims that many of these
- 26:15Speaker 2: dolls have evil abilities, derived from sinister practices of voodoo
- 26:19Speaker 2: and dark magic. These are not your run-of-the-mill, ordinary, eerie dolls.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Each has an unsettling past and is thought to really
- 26:27Speaker 2: be haunted. Consider the Shadow Doll, among others. This specific
- 26:31Speaker 2: doll resembles a horrific puppet representation from a sick variation
- 26:34Speaker 2: of the Muppets.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Something out of a twisted dream.
- 26:37Speaker 2: It's claimed to visit people in their dreams, where it
- 26:39Speaker 2: can cause such strong dread that it might stop their
- 26:42Speaker 2: hearts midway through their dream. It is really horrifying to
- 26:45Speaker 2: consider that a doll might kill someone in their sleep.
- 26:49Speaker 2: The Shadow Doll is more than just eerie. It's a
- 26:52Speaker 2: deadly thing. A cursed item meant to push horror into
- 26:55Speaker 2: the most intimate and vulnerable environments.
- 26:58Speaker 1: One's own dreams.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Then, there is the maybe even more horrifying Devilish Doll.
- 27:03Speaker 2: found in the forest close to the location of demonic worship.
- 27:07Speaker 2: This doll resembled a tall wooden man, maybe even the
- 27:10Speaker 2: devil himself. It is a strong candidate for haunting because
- 27:13Speaker 2: of its terrible look and its presence. Believed to be
- 27:17Speaker 2: haunted beyond all logic, this doll reflects the sinister intentions
- 27:21Speaker 2: and terrible rituals produced. The idea of this doll existing
- 27:26Speaker 2: just makes me not want to. One more sinister magic
- 27:30Speaker 2: doll in the collection is... seems to have been taken
- 27:32Speaker 2: right out of a horror film. It is a great
- 27:34Speaker 2: source of anxiety because of its off-color look, its facelessness,
- 27:39Speaker 2: and it's encased in glass to hold its evil. Dolls
- 27:42Speaker 2: like this one have been utilized in different rites, whereby
- 27:45Speaker 2: dark magic and voodoo were called to curse them.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Possessing such a doll is terrifying.
- 27:51Speaker 2: It's like admitting a curse onto your house, one that
- 27:53Speaker 2: may bring unspoken disaster. One especially disturbing doll lacks eyes
- 27:58Speaker 2: and lips and is extremely unsettling because of its absence
- 28:01Speaker 2: of facial traits. A doll that cannot see or talk,
- 28:04Speaker 2: but nevertheless radiates evil, is quite unnerving. Like the others,
- 28:08Speaker 2: this doll results from Dark Rite, meant to be an
- 28:10Speaker 2: object of horror and evil. Every one of these dolls
- 28:13Speaker 2: would be readily a focus of a horror movie. These
- 28:16Speaker 2: are the kinds of objects dreams are composed of. Each
- 28:19Speaker 2: one has a narrative rich in horror, dark magic, and
- 28:22Speaker 2: evil intents. The notion that these dolls even exist in
- 28:25Speaker 2: our world is insane. What kind of person do you
- 28:28Speaker 2: have to be to put a curse on a doll?
- 28:30Speaker 2: What kind of person do you have to be to
- 28:31Speaker 2: hate someone so much that you want to put a
- 28:33Speaker 2: curse on something and then give it to them?
- 28:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Not fun.
- 28:38Speaker 3: That stuff, if it doesn't run through families, what kind
- 28:41Speaker 3: of traumas happen to that person to get into dark magic?
- 28:44Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 28:45Speaker 2: And I feel like it's someone who doesn't look at
- 28:47Speaker 2: like life as a whole and like what it actually
- 28:49Speaker 2: means to be on earth and what it actually means.
- 28:51Speaker 3: You have to be mentally disturbed. I would say like
- 28:54Speaker 3: insane amounts of revenge. Yeah. Seems like a major revenge thing.
- 29:00Speaker 1: It's just weird.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Like.
- 29:01Speaker 1: It's just weird that you would want to hurt someone.
- 29:02Speaker 1: And like, I get it.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Like I get through moments and in the moment I'm
- 29:05Speaker 2: so angry. So I tend to like sit with things
- 29:06Speaker 2: for a few days before I make any actions at all.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I recently had something go down in this town and
- 29:10Speaker 2: I was so mad, but I didn't do it.
- 29:13Speaker 1: You have to sit with it. But like, it's crazy
- 29:14Speaker 1: to think of how hurt you have to be to
- 29:17Speaker 1: like actually want to ruin someone's life. Like in certain ways,
- 29:19Speaker 1: I get it. Say they like a murderer, like took
- 29:22Speaker 1: your child and killed them. Like that's different.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:24Speaker 2: But like say someone like is like there's there's people
- 29:27Speaker 2: out there were like she's too pretty.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I'm going to throw acid on her.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Like that is so dark. And like karma. I believe
- 29:33Speaker 1: karma is real.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I have seen karma come through for me like 400
- 29:35Speaker 2: freaking times in my lifetime.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Oh, there's a karma bank out there. There's a few
- 29:39Speaker 3: different types of karma.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Dude i have the worst i had like the worst
- 29:42Speaker 2: bully in high school and like her life did not
- 29:43Speaker 2: turn out and did i want her life to turn
- 29:45Speaker 2: out of course i did because i'm not an asshole
- 29:47Speaker 2: but do i feel like maybe the universe has punished
- 29:49Speaker 2: her for her actions maybe it's a thing i don't know.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Well that's the thing right like People need to let
- 29:55Speaker 3: revenge go in certain situations. Obviously, if terrible things happen,
- 29:59Speaker 3: I get if you're stuck on it. Yeah. But, like,
- 30:01Speaker 3: the universe is going to take care of it. The
- 30:04Speaker 3: balance is out there.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Well, it's like that quote that we've heard before.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Holding on to anger is like holding on to a
- 30:11Speaker 2: hot coal and expecting the other person to get burnt.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Like, they're probably not even thinking about it.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 2: But, guys, I hope that you enjoyed today's episode of
- 30:17Speaker 2: The Haunted Estate. If you do have topics that you
- 30:19Speaker 2: would like us to talk about, this on this episode
- 30:22Speaker 2: like doing on the haunted estate please drop it in
- 30:24Speaker 2: the comments below also drop me a bunch of little
- 30:26Speaker 2: ghost emojis if you're on your phone watching this if
- 30:29Speaker 2: you're on your tv watching this which a lot of
- 30:30Speaker 2: you are then just tell me something really nice and
- 30:34Speaker 2: don't buy haunted dolls and october's coming so i'm about
- 30:38Speaker 2: to get a whole bunch of emails from people telling
- 30:40Speaker 2: me they were doing things they shouldn't have been doing
- 30:42Speaker 2: all right love you guys until next time.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Meditate bye Among.
- 30:48Speaker 2: These ghostly artifacts, the perils of death stand out as
- 30:51Speaker 2: among the most hazardous and haunted objects in the Warren's
- 30:54Speaker 2: occult collection.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Although these pearls, oh my god, they literally are pearls.
- 30:58Speaker 3: The perils of death.
- 30:59Speaker 1: I thought they were talking about the perils of death.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Okay, let's restart this.
