- 0:15Howie Carr How are things on this Tuesday morning?
- 0:18Very good. What do you think they've got on
- 0:21Graham Plattner that we don't already know?
- 0:23Oh, I know that they've got a lot on him.
- 0:24I, I, I am aware of a few things cooking in the background to
- 0:28him. Let me let me just say this,
- 0:29Abbie Carr, there will be no shortage of things to talk about
- 0:33over the next several months with Graham Plattner in that
- 0:35race and as the presumptive nominee, no doubt.
- 0:38Well, I. Mean, why are they letting it
- 0:40out now? I mean, couldn't.
- 0:42Could Janet Mills still theoretically get back in the
- 0:45fight? I suppose so.
- 0:47I, I, I agree with you 100%. I think they should sit on most
- 0:50of this and drop it when people are paying attention later when
- 0:53it's going to do more damage. But that's just my take on it,
- 0:58that maybe they have this feeling that there's just so
- 1:00much that you can do. It's.
- 1:01Unfortunate to get people's expectations up.
- 1:03That's what I mean. It's better.
- 1:05I it's better just to, you know, a bombshell should be a
- 1:08bombshell. It shouldn't be just kind of
- 1:10leaked out and then they then you say, oh, that's all they
- 1:12got. That's my own feeling as a as a
- 1:16amateur political strategist. Agreed.
- 1:19Yeah, agreed. What do you make of the the
- 1:22ignominious end of Janet Mills? I mean, that was a historic
- 1:26flame out. I actually just saw something
- 1:28yesterday that said this is the first sitting governor that has
- 1:30been running for Senate that has has dropped out since 1988.
- 1:34I didn't realize that. That's pretty humiliating
- 1:37actually, if you think about it, which makes me smile just a
- 1:39little bit. The the way I, I, I said this on
- 1:42the air, you know, I, I, I'm so glad that some of these COVID
- 1:46tyrants are, are finally, you know, you know, facing some kind
- 1:51of karma. You know, there's, there's too
- 1:53few of them, you know, Charlie Baker in Massachusetts, Cuomo in
- 1:57New York, but it's only a handful of them have actually
- 2:00been punished by the voters or, you know, forced to resign in
- 2:03disgrace or not run for re election.
- 2:06And I'm, I'm glad to, I was glad to see it.
- 2:08I don't, you know, I don't care, you know, sometimes you, you
- 2:10just have to, you know, end someones political career.
- 2:14They've been so appalling, despite what may be, you know,
- 2:17lurking in the, you know, in the bullpen, you know, don't you?
- 2:22Yeah, yeah. I mean, you're out of the fire
- 2:23Frank Pan and into the fire with Grant Plattner there.
- 2:25But I, I, I will take that deal 100 times out of 100 to get rid
- 2:29of Janet Mills. I mean, the COVID stuff is
- 2:31obviously like the, the instigating thing for me really
- 2:35disliking her a lot, but it's about so much more Howie.
- 2:38So she's done so many bad things.
- 2:42Right, well, that's that's the MO of the COVID tire, right?
- 2:45I mean, it's just the, the COVID just was the was the real in
- 2:49your face, you know, slap. It was the mask off moment.
- 2:52That's how I say it, but it's but it's true.
- 2:58You know what the thing about it, though, Howie is, if you
- 2:59think about it, I, I, I've been watching some of the polling on
- 3:03that race, you know, not just about like them against each
- 3:05other, but like, you know, right track, wrong track questions.
- 3:08And what do you think about the economy in Maine?
- 3:11What do you think about education in Maine or whatever?
- 3:12And they're all crap for her. I mean, every single thing that
- 3:15she has made a signature of her time in office has really turned
- 3:20pretty poorly. And I think everybody in the
- 3:22states, like over her. She's like, I'm, I'm, I'm not
- 3:25sure she was ever really all that popular to begin with.
- 3:28I think she just was a benefit. There was a benefit of a lot of
- 3:31fortunate timing with her when she ran those races because I
- 3:34think she's always been a kind of a crummy politician.
- 3:37Yeah, it, you know, but The thing is, I mean, what gets me
- 3:40about Platiner is Platiner represents all of the problems
- 3:45that have been that have been created in the wake of Janet
- 3:48Mills, the misrule over the years, you know, all these nuts
- 3:52coming into the state. I mean, maybe he's like a
- 3:54native, although, you know, he went to the Hotchkiss school and
- 3:57all that, which for me is that that by itself is disqualifying
- 4:01for for any person, you know, in in public life.
- 4:04But that's just me. I.
- 4:08Think I'm there with you. And you know, but, but why would
- 4:12you vote for him? I mean, you're, you're PO D
- 4:15because of the, the, the flatlanders, you know, the rich
- 4:18flatlanders who pretend to have jobs and pretend to be working
- 4:21class and pretend to be your friend that bought up
- 4:23everything. And, and they wanted to take
- 4:25away your gun range and they want to take away your lobster
- 4:28fishing and they want to take away everything.
- 4:31Why would you vote for him as a protest?
- 4:33Well, see. See how he's new, he's fresh,
- 4:36he's he's authentic, he's he's new Coke.
- 4:40I mean, that's he's just repackaged as a, as a, as a
- 4:44open, you know, vessel, a white sheet in a white piece of paper.
- 4:48You can like pour your hopes and dreams into the.
- 4:49More ways than one, you know, I mean, every, they call everybody
- 4:53a Nazi and then they, then they have a real Nazi, you know, a
- 4:56guy with a real Nazi tattoo and he's OK.
- 4:59I, I don't get it. I, you know, really, I mean, I,
- 5:02I understand it's not a party anymore, it's a cult, but I got
- 5:05that. But still.
- 5:07I mean, but don't cults have some standards?
- 5:11No, apparently not. Apparently they do not have any
- 5:15any standards. And this is just where we're at
- 5:16right now. I mean, it's just tribal crap.
- 5:18I mean, they're they're, they're they all they want to do right
- 5:22now is beat Donald Trump, you know, get rid of Susan Collins
- 5:25and sort of score their victory. So they don't really
- 5:27particularly care how they do it.
- 5:30And if it happens to be, I mean, I think that they're well aware
- 5:32of the fact the guy's a phony. I would at least I hope that
- 5:34they are, you know, that that would make me feel a little bit
- 5:36better if they knowingly knew he was a phony and they just
- 5:39decided to go with it. You know, I'd feel a little bit
- 5:41better about that than if they believed him.
- 5:43You know, that he, oh, I'm an oyster farmer.
- 5:45I'm a working class stiff just like you.
- 5:47I don't know. And what, what about all these
- 5:52people coming in from out of state to to work for him?
- 5:56I mean for. Wine is donors too.
- 5:57You're. Coming from far if you're coming
- 5:59from far away, I mean, it's one thing to write a check if you
- 6:01got, you know, mom and pop gave you 1,000,000 bucks like his mom
- 6:04and pop dad, you know, you OK, you write a check, but you're
- 6:08coming up to main to to campaign for him.
- 6:11You know what that means you don't have that means that means
- 6:14you don't have a job. Yep.
- 6:16Yes it does and. And nobody's taking time off to
- 6:22go campaign for somebody out of state.
- 6:24It's one thing to hold aside on Saturday morning before the
- 6:28primary, but, you know, it's just, it's just crazy, you know,
- 6:34I, I, I've watched it, you know, like everybody has what's
- 6:37happened to, to Maine. But I mean, this is, I really
- 6:41hope they can take him out. I I just don't want to get
- 6:43overconfident though. No, I think he's an actual
- 6:47threat to win, which depresses me greatly saying so.
- 6:50I mean, I, I don't know, it's a lot of, it's going to depend on
- 6:52what the overall national environment looks like.
- 6:55I mean, I know that I was probably going to ask you about
- 6:56the Iran thing and how that's all going.
- 6:58But certainly protecting those ships and getting a couple of
- 7:01them through there and, and preventing Iran from actually
- 7:03being able to threaten them too much is a hell of a good sign.
- 7:07And if that turns into something really super positive, I mean,
- 7:09that makes me feel a little bit better about things.
- 7:11Right, right. I was, I was thinking that, you
- 7:13know that those attack those little the Mosquito squad
- 7:17so-called attacking and getting wiped out.
- 7:19I thought that would be an use to, you know, to just bomb them
- 7:22back even further into the Stone Age than they already are.
- 7:25But you know, Trump is, you know, pulling his punches here.
- 7:29I I hope, you know, I guess he knows what he's doing, You know,
- 7:32and again, if it's not a, if they're really not a threat,
- 7:35then just get all those ships out of there and just start
- 7:37shipping the oil out. And you know that'll that should
- 7:39drop the prices somewhat anyway. Yeah.
- 7:42I mean, I was saying it this morning, but if they really can
- 7:43protect those ships and get them out there and they can maintain
- 7:46the the blockade, which of course they can, that gets
- 7:50pretty much all of Iran's leverage out of the door.
- 7:53I mean, they have absolutely no options at that point.
- 7:55So that's that's definitely a win for the US if that kind of
- 7:58thing happens. So you know if you.
- 8:00Know their most reliable ally at this point.
- 8:02I mean, it's obvious. It's not Russia, not China, not
- 8:05North Korea. It's the Democrat Party and
- 8:08regime control media in the US That's all they got left, yeah.
- 8:13Yeah, I suppose so. Certainly, certainly the the the
- 8:15fellow travelers in Europe can't help them.
- 8:17The comrades Mackerel and Merce and Starmer.
- 8:21I mean, they're just, you know, they're, they're just, you know,
- 8:25hand wringing. They're.
- 8:26Just invisible. They're, they're like, I mean, I
- 8:28don't even think about them on a daily basis.
- 8:30They don't help anybody. They don't help us.
- 8:32They don't care that much about Iran either.
- 8:33They're just kind of stuck in their own little country doing
- 8:35nothing. I mean Starmer what?
- 8:38That guy is bad. I hope he gets.
- 8:41Crushed this weekend in the the by elections.
- 8:44I'm pretty sure he's going to. He's, he's having a bad time
- 8:48lately. I think he's in PERUV ratings in
- 8:49like the 20% range. It's pretty bad.
- 8:52It is it. Raises the question who are
- 8:53these 20% that's. So the answer I don't have,
- 8:59Howie, it's now an answer I don't have.
- 9:02So the other thing I wanted to ask you about here, Howie, I was
- 9:05talking about it earlier in the program, but it looks like
- 9:07DeSantis just signed the Florida redistricting situation.
- 9:11I said that this was basically the essence of the FAFO
- 9:15phenomenon. Like I mean, you want to do the
- 9:17Virginia thing, you want to do the California thing, fine, but
- 9:19we got more states, you got more districts to redraw if we wanted
- 9:24to then you people do. So did you really want to pick
- 9:26this fight? Because right now it looks like
- 9:29you didn't saying that. They're going to eliminate
- 9:30climbers seat in South Carolina. Oh yeah, Louisiana's redrawing
- 9:34theirs. I mean, it's this is a disaster
- 9:35for them, honestly. Yeah, and and you ought to
- 9:38check. Have you have you mentioned the
- 9:40dissent? They not the dissent, but the
- 9:42the the order from Alito. I did Katanji.
- 9:46Oh, that is so great. So Katanji Brown Jackson is
- 9:51asking Louisiana to proceed with an unconstitutional map for the
- 9:55election. I mean, that says it all,
- 9:59doesn't? It it does, it does say it all.
- 10:01That's the idea of jurisprudence.
- 10:04It's. Unconstitutional if it helps the
- 10:07Democrats. The Harvard.
- 10:11By the way. She did?
- 10:12Yeah. Excelled there, I heard.
- 10:14Yeah, Appreciate, Appreciate being with me, Howie.
- 10:17Unfortunately, we're out of time, so I do have to stop
- 10:19there. What's going on at
- 10:20howiecarshow.com before we get out of.
- 10:22The door, we got all of our, our stuff and we'll have, but we
- 10:25still got Maria's gift certificates.
- 10:27It's great for, for, for Mother's Day.
- 10:29It's great for Father's Day, you know, $25 for a $50.00 gift
- 10:34certificate at Maria's, the oldest and best Italian
- 10:36restaurant. And you know, we're going to,
- 10:38we're going to be pushing those hard this week.
- 10:40And we were, we got the, we got some good stuff coming up today
- 10:45with the the governors race in in Massachusetts.
- 10:49If people are interested in it, we'll have both of the
- 10:51Republican candidates on. Yeah, Well, appreciate it,
- 10:54Howie. Thanks a lot.
- 10:55Make sure you go to howiecarshow.com and check it
- 10:57out today. We'll talk to you again next
- 10:59Tuesday, Sir. Thanks a lot.
