- 3:03Speaker 5: on a complete high. So welcome to sc Bookalds and friends.
- 3:08Speaker 5: And if you have been here, you just heard my
- 3:14Speaker 5: new intro. Oh like, y'all, So this is my first
- 3:18Speaker 5: time hearing it tonight. Okay, I heard it about maybe
- 3:22Speaker 5: four or five minutes ago. And lord, if you can
- 3:25Speaker 5: only see the look in the tears coming out of
- 3:28Speaker 5: my face. Thank you so much to my producer, my friend,
- 3:33Speaker 5: my bestie, my mentor, Angela Thomas Smith. Y'all don't know
- 3:38Speaker 5: tonight my house is going to be rocking my intro.
- 3:42Speaker 5: I man, you just don't.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Y'all.
- 3:46Speaker 5: I am just so excited all the stuff that's popping
- 3:49Speaker 5: in my head, and I am so excited to have another. Okay,
- 3:57Speaker 5: so let me wheel it in. How how are you guys?
- 4:04Speaker 5: I know this this week was kind of kind of weird,
- 4:08Speaker 5: you know, all all the things that's been going on,
- 4:12Speaker 5: and big ups to South Carolina. We did it. You know,
- 4:16Speaker 5: we got mister Muli and Johnson. Who's gonna be running
- 4:19Speaker 5: for governor, trying to nick massive, chalking up deuces. So
- 4:25Speaker 5: but remember next week we got to run off, you guys.
- 4:28Speaker 5: So some of the races did not have a clear winner.
- 4:32Speaker 5: So next week Tuesday, you might have to do a runoff.
- 4:35Speaker 5: So go win. The show's over or sometime this weekend.
- 4:39Speaker 5: Check your ballots. Make sure that it's complete. It's complete,
- 4:43Speaker 5: You have nothing to worry about. But there are some
- 4:46Speaker 5: races in South Carolina that still have to have a definite,
- 4:50Speaker 5: defined winner. So go check your ballots, see if you gotta. Okay,
- 4:55Speaker 5: other than that, it's today was a nice cool day
- 4:59Speaker 5: in South Lina. Wasn't scorching hot, Thank god. My day
- 5:06Speaker 5: has been kind of quirky. I'm asking you guys to
- 5:10Speaker 5: pray for my family. Got a cousin in the hospital
- 5:12Speaker 5: who's fighting cancer. But because like I said, I know
- 5:15Speaker 5: you got this and God got you. And just saying
- 5:18Speaker 5: nothing but a little a little pebble in your walking life. Okay, yeah,
- 5:24Speaker 5: speaking of walking life, remember them crossroads and I ain't
- 5:29Speaker 5: talk about the one but the own thus hall, you're
- 5:32Speaker 5: not talking about that, and thank you guys, we are
- 5:35Speaker 5: talking about the household in life. What did we do.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Mhm.
- 5:42Speaker 5: When we're at that crossroad. Well, guess what this lady here,
- 5:47Speaker 5: she's gonna talk about it tonight. Welcome off the Felicia,
- 5:51Speaker 5: Felicia Barlin tuggs not.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Eggs, not good evening.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Hello are you, sweetheart?
- 6:05Speaker 4: I am good. Thank you for having me.
- 6:08Speaker 5: No, thank you for coming. Now.
- 6:13Speaker 4: I have to say a little about your intro. I
- 6:16Speaker 4: love your intro song. Yes, y'all, she.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Got to see me in rare fashion. I was crying, y'all.
- 6:25Speaker 5: I was, I was boohoom. I'm just it just touched
- 6:29Speaker 5: my heart. Y'all just don't know. But we talk about
- 6:34Speaker 5: So tell us a little bit about yourself.
- 6:39Speaker 8: Oh, I will tell you first and foremost. I am
- 6:44Speaker 8: a woman of God, love the Lord with all my
- 6:47Speaker 8: heart and so. I am a mother of three, two
- 6:54Speaker 8: living and the forever mom of my son Corey who
- 6:58Speaker 8: passed and twenty twenty three. I am a hands on
- 7:03Speaker 8: grandma of eighteen. Love those grandkids. I serve as an
- 7:10Speaker 8: associate minister at my church, Shallow Baptist Church O Site.
- 7:15Speaker 4: I am a.
- 7:16Speaker 8: Mentor, I am a friend, a sister, an entrepreneur, author,
- 7:24Speaker 8: and a trainer, coach and a wife. I forgot that
- 7:30Speaker 8: and a whole wife. I love to travel, love to
- 7:34Speaker 8: meet new people, love to celebrate people. My sisters love
- 7:38Speaker 8: to celebrate you know, women, especially because we don't often
- 7:43Speaker 8: get celebrated, but all people just love celebrating.
- 7:50Speaker 5: Who Okay, and I see you. You got luck going
- 7:53Speaker 5: on me? How do you find time? That everything.
- 8:02Speaker 4: It's balanced? Balance.
- 8:05Speaker 8: I've learned to say no to those things that I'm
- 8:09Speaker 8: really not supposed to be doing, and unapologetically say no,
- 8:17Speaker 8: but to make sure that I'm able to do the
- 8:19Speaker 8: things that I'm actually called to do and to give
- 8:23Speaker 8: balance to those things I love doing.
- 8:26Speaker 4: So you have to have balance.
- 8:28Speaker 8: You can't allow anything to take up residents too much
- 8:33Speaker 8: so that you can't do all the things.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Learning that I'm thinking I'm coming into an error whereas
- 8:48Speaker 5: balance is starting to present itself because my youngest child
- 8:53Speaker 5: is now eleven and she's going to middle school. So
- 8:56Speaker 5: I do not have to be the hell of talk
- 9:00Speaker 5: to mom, as they may say, I kind of slip
- 9:03Speaker 5: back and give her some responsibility. So I'm starting to
- 9:06Speaker 5: see that balancing being able to do more.
- 9:16Speaker 4: What Yeah, thanks into my.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Crossroads?
- 9:27Speaker 4: Yes?
- 9:31Speaker 5: What does that word actually need to eat?
- 9:36Speaker 4: Ah?
- 9:36Speaker 8: For me, it's mixed, because when I think of crossroads,
- 9:43Speaker 8: I think of some significant times in my life I
- 9:47Speaker 8: think of, and not all of them bad, but initially
- 9:52Speaker 8: I think of those times in my life where I
- 9:54Speaker 8: had to make a decision, I had to move, I
- 9:58Speaker 8: had to shift, I had to do something. And so
- 10:03Speaker 8: I think of all of the crossroad moments that I've had,
- 10:06Speaker 8: and some that I actually share in the book that
- 10:10Speaker 8: were difficult moments. But one of the things that God
- 10:15Speaker 8: showed me earlier on that there is life after these
- 10:19Speaker 8: crossroad moments and not to get afraid when you find
- 10:23Speaker 8: yourself in one of those situations. And so with that
- 10:28Speaker 8: I've learned to lean into them. You know, some people
- 10:31Speaker 8: back away, some people get scared, and they get stuck.
- 10:35Speaker 8: And I think, for me, I've always been fascinated with
- 10:39Speaker 8: why do some people go through the.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Same things in life?
- 10:42Speaker 8: Right, Because some of us have some of the same experiences,
- 10:46Speaker 8: but some people get stuck and some people are able
- 10:49Speaker 8: to move on and not only just move on, but
- 10:52Speaker 8: thrive afterwards.
- 10:54Speaker 4: And so.
- 10:57Speaker 8: Just always looking at that and realize and that it's
- 11:01Speaker 8: not the circumstances that we go through, but it's how
- 11:04Speaker 8: we go through them, right, And for me, I've decided
- 11:09Speaker 8: every crossroad moment, everything I go through, I want God
- 11:13Speaker 8: to get the glory.
- 11:14Speaker 4: So then it shows up.
- 11:16Speaker 8: I show up differently right, because it's not looking at me,
- 11:20Speaker 8: it's looking at the God and me.
- 11:26Speaker 5: Love. I love the fact that you said that. And
- 11:28Speaker 5: when I was reading the sum this is a thing
- 11:34Speaker 5: you said. Crossroad movement speaks to readers navigating life changes,
- 11:39Speaker 5: personal turning points, and seizes of decisions. Rather the Crossroyd
- 11:45Speaker 5: peered through relationships, purpose, faith, career, loss, or renewal, The
- 11:51Speaker 5: serious affirms the meaning is often revealed not after the decision,
- 11:57Speaker 5: but the moment of choosing what it thinks about that
- 12:01Speaker 5: moment that was very mind going. And when I was
- 12:06Speaker 5: talking about speaking to you to Mike, I made sure
- 12:09Speaker 5: to mention that because I was like, we always talk
- 12:12Speaker 5: about the before, we always talk about the actor. We
- 12:18Speaker 5: ever talk about that moment when we decide what we're
- 12:23Speaker 5: gonna do. Tell us about that moment, like how important
- 12:28Speaker 5: is that moment?
- 12:30Speaker 4: That moment?
- 12:31Speaker 8: And it just reminds me too of when we're talk
- 12:34Speaker 8: when we talk about and I'm gonna focus because it's
- 12:37Speaker 8: not only just people of faith, but I have to
- 12:40Speaker 8: speak from it from those lenses, because that's where I'm
- 12:43Speaker 8: coming from. But we talk about faith. This is substance
- 12:46Speaker 8: of things hopeful with the evidence unseen. Right, And so
- 12:50Speaker 8: it's in that moment when chaos has taken place, maybe
- 12:55Speaker 8: all hell has broken loose around us with burden, hearts broken,
- 13:00Speaker 8: and it's in that very moment that we can't see
- 13:02Speaker 8: beyond this thing, right, we can't see beyond what is
- 13:06Speaker 8: happening right now. But it's in that moment that that
- 13:09Speaker 8: faith has to kick in where we say it's gonna
- 13:12Speaker 8: be okay, I can do this.
- 13:14Speaker 4: God got me. I'm coming through this.
- 13:16Speaker 8: There is life after this, and for me, it's in
- 13:19Speaker 8: that moment that we got to push beyond. Yes, we
- 13:23Speaker 8: know that after this it's a process, things do get better,
- 13:28Speaker 8: but it's in that moment that we decide to move,
- 13:32Speaker 8: that we decide to take action.
- 13:34Speaker 4: And that's very pivotal.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it's that that decision, that one moment. And I
- 13:42Speaker 5: know we all say that moment can can change your
- 13:46Speaker 5: whole life, your whole life and everything, but I really
- 13:51Speaker 5: don't think we even take chance to think about that moment.
- 13:55Speaker 5: What inspired you to write Crossroads Moment? What inspire you
- 14:01Speaker 5: to bring this book to life.
- 14:03Speaker 4: This has been.
- 14:07Speaker 8: A baby. We talked about books being our babies. I
- 14:10Speaker 8: carried this baby for some years. You hear me, and
- 14:14Speaker 8: God shifted it different ways. But I think for me
- 14:18Speaker 8: it was just a way to show other people because
- 14:24Speaker 8: in my life, I've been through a lot of things
- 14:27Speaker 8: and some of us we've all been through things, right,
- 14:30Speaker 8: but in some instances it's been many things and some
- 14:36Speaker 8: traumatic things, back to back to back to back.
- 14:40Speaker 7: Right.
- 14:40Speaker 8: Sometimes I felt like, Okay, I got through this crossroad moment,
- 14:44Speaker 8: I weathered this storm.
- 14:46Speaker 4: I'm a survivor.
- 14:48Speaker 8: I did it, and then something else came and took
- 14:51Speaker 8: my breath away, right. And so this is just a
- 14:54Speaker 8: testament to others that you can come out of different
- 14:58Speaker 8: things that we find out I was in and just
- 15:02Speaker 8: to help other people recognize my sisters and I. It's
- 15:05Speaker 8: an anthology and so these amazing women, my sisters, my
- 15:12Speaker 8: biological sisters, as well as my best friends. These women
- 15:17Speaker 8: are phenomenal. But we share the stories, some of our
- 15:21Speaker 8: stories that things that we've been through in life that
- 15:24Speaker 8: could have taken us away. The title of my particular
- 15:29Speaker 8: book in the anthology is I could have given up then, right,
- 15:33Speaker 8: because it's some things. And in the book, I just
- 15:37Speaker 8: hit on a few things because it's an anthology, but
- 15:40Speaker 8: the book, my book, it says some of those things
- 15:45Speaker 8: that I encountered as a woman, a young woman, and
- 15:50Speaker 8: I just want to encourage other people that life is hard.
- 15:54Speaker 8: You know, we talk about how life be life, and
- 15:57Speaker 8: it's hard, but you can get through it. And so
- 16:01Speaker 8: not wanting to see anybody give up, not wanting to
- 16:05Speaker 8: see another sister call it quits. In our community we
- 16:13Speaker 8: had some suicide, and not wanting to see another person,
- 16:19Speaker 8: young or old, get so overwhelmed by things that they're
- 16:23Speaker 8: encountering that they give up. There is a way to
- 16:29Speaker 8: get through these crossroad moments, whatever they are. So that
- 16:33Speaker 8: was my inspiration and then as a legacy to my
- 16:36Speaker 8: children and my grandchildren to remember that no matter what
- 16:40Speaker 8: will come at you, because things will. We live long enough,
- 16:44Speaker 8: things will happen. Stuff is going to happen, People will
- 16:47Speaker 8: be people, life will life. Things will happen. But you
- 16:52Speaker 8: can come out of this and not just come through.
- 16:56Speaker 8: You know, my desire is that people see me thriving
- 17:00Speaker 8: after this.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Right.
- 17:03Speaker 8: I went through cancer and you know, it was one
- 17:06Speaker 8: of the biggest fights of my life. I had stage
- 17:10Speaker 8: three brust cancer and it was one of the biggest
- 17:13Speaker 8: fights of my life. But I fought through it by
- 17:18Speaker 8: the grace of God, with my family, wonderful friends. And
- 17:23Speaker 8: not only was I determined when God said, yes, the
- 17:27Speaker 8: cancer diagnosis is real, what the doctor said is real,
- 17:30Speaker 8: but you will get through this. Once I heard that
- 17:33Speaker 8: in my spirit, then the fight was on because I
- 17:36Speaker 8: was like, let's go. Okay, let's go, because there isn't
- 17:40Speaker 8: after this. So no matter what I look like at
- 17:43Speaker 8: the end when they ring the bell, I'm getting through.
- 17:47Speaker 8: And so I've been determined to thrive. And thriving looks
- 17:53Speaker 8: different for everybody, but for me, thriving and still being
- 17:57Speaker 8: being able to be thankful, to be grateful, to show
- 18:02Speaker 8: others that they can, to encourage other people, to make
- 18:07Speaker 8: space for other people, to celebrate other people, and regardless
- 18:12Speaker 8: of whatever I go through, not to give up my joy.
- 18:20Speaker 5: You don't say a whole whole whole lot, a whole
- 18:23Speaker 5: lot of nuggets and truth and all good looks. You
- 18:28Speaker 5: just said so much, and it makes so much sense
- 18:31Speaker 5: because when we're going through things, and even when we
- 18:35Speaker 5: make that decision, there's so much going on that we
- 18:39Speaker 5: sometimes don't look ahead like that road is it's clearing up.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Like when you're in the middle of the storm, you
- 18:47Speaker 5: don't know when the sun's gonna come out. You just
- 18:49Speaker 5: know there's lightning, thundering and things are all over the place.
- 18:52Speaker 5: And I think some I don't. I'm gonna say personally,
- 18:57Speaker 5: I know that I forget it, that the storm can't
- 19:01Speaker 5: last all the time. All raing have to rain theirselves out,
- 19:06Speaker 5: they're going to dry out, they're going to go away.
- 19:09Speaker 5: And sometime when you're in the midst of it, you
- 19:12Speaker 5: don't think past that defining moment.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Yes, that's true.
- 19:19Speaker 5: It's that defining moment. It's where a lot of people
- 19:24Speaker 5: lose mm sight scared. Let me take a second.
- 19:31Speaker 8: Decision, trees, like, we have to decide, right, and I
- 19:38Speaker 8: don't think I'm a superwoman. And before I go any further,
- 19:41Speaker 8: I have got to say hello to one of my sisters,
- 19:45Speaker 8: Pamela Johnson Nance Johnson.
- 19:48Speaker 4: She is on the line.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Uh.
- 19:51Speaker 4: She is an amazing support us sister. Friend. Just wanted
- 19:55Speaker 4: to say hello to her.
- 19:57Speaker 8: She encouraged you to get Yes, she is definitely an encourager. Yes,
- 20:07Speaker 8: but we have to decide, you know, like in preparation,
- 20:11Speaker 8: we have to make a decision, you know, how we
- 20:15Speaker 8: going to live this thing called life right and just
- 20:19Speaker 8: making that decision that and for me, the decision is this,
- 20:24Speaker 8: that God will get the glory right, and so no
- 20:28Speaker 8: matter what it is, what it is that makes me
- 20:32Speaker 8: have to line myself up and stay in position so
- 20:36Speaker 8: that God gets the glory out of it, no matter
- 20:39Speaker 8: what it is. And it's been some rough, tough things.
- 20:43Speaker 4: You know.
- 20:44Speaker 8: Some in the book I share about the loss of
- 20:47Speaker 8: my son, and that one took me. So when you
- 20:51Speaker 8: talk about I could have given up then, I literally
- 20:54Speaker 8: could have given up then. But the one thing I
- 20:57Speaker 8: said when I got that knock on the door and
- 21:00Speaker 8: those two policemen stood there telling me that my baby
- 21:03Speaker 8: was gone, immediately I was like, God, you got to
- 21:08Speaker 8: get the glory out of this. You've got to get
- 21:11Speaker 8: the glory out of this, right, you got to get
- 21:13Speaker 8: the glory out of me.
- 21:14Speaker 4: His death cannot be in vain.
- 21:16Speaker 8: And so with that I had to line up with
- 21:19Speaker 8: what I said, right, So I had to begin to
- 21:22Speaker 8: line up with what I asked for God, get the glory,
- 21:26Speaker 8: meaning show me and show other people what you want
- 21:32Speaker 8: us to see in this moment, and that's just what
- 21:36Speaker 8: I do. I'm just decided that be it a good time,
- 21:39Speaker 8: a happy time, a sad time, God will get the glory.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Right when I'm.
- 21:43Speaker 8: Acting silly, God, get your glory out of this. Right
- 21:48Speaker 8: when I'm sad, God, get your glory out of this.
- 21:52Speaker 8: Right show other people that even in the midst of
- 21:56Speaker 8: us breaking and life lifing on us, that we still
- 22:00Speaker 8: got joy because we got hope, and we got peace,
- 22:03Speaker 8: and we got that peace that surpasses all understanding, and
- 22:07Speaker 8: that comes from God. And so as long as I
- 22:10Speaker 8: have God with me, I am determined that God will
- 22:14Speaker 8: get the glory. And no matter what it is, you know,
- 22:18Speaker 8: people will see hope in it. You know, you got
- 22:20Speaker 8: to see hope in all things. And so some people
- 22:24Speaker 8: ask me that police, how did you see hope in
- 22:27Speaker 8: losing your son? Well, God blessed me with him for
- 22:32Speaker 8: thirty two years. I had thirty two wonderful years of
- 22:36Speaker 8: memories of my son.
- 22:38Speaker 4: He was an amazing young man. He has five children.
- 22:43Speaker 8: So I have those memories, right, And in the midst
- 22:46Speaker 8: of all of that, God changed some lives around as
- 22:49Speaker 8: a result of that. And so yes, yes, God got
- 22:53Speaker 8: the glory and yes I still smile, do I cry,
- 22:57Speaker 8: I still cry miss him, I still miss him. But
- 23:02Speaker 8: God gets the glory out of it. I didn't go
- 23:05Speaker 8: to jail during that time, right because I could have
- 23:10Speaker 8: the circumstances of my son's death. I could be sitting
- 23:14Speaker 8: in jail right now, but God kept me. And so there,
- 23:20Speaker 8: that's that's the that's the hope in it. That's the
- 23:23Speaker 8: joy in it, seeing God's hand move even in the
- 23:27Speaker 8: most difficult of situations, being able to identify God in
- 23:32Speaker 8: that moment. And so that's what I've decided in cross
- 23:35Speaker 8: road moments, looking for God in all these things.
- 23:40Speaker 1: M H.
- 23:42Speaker 5: And that's crazy because a lot of people lose that
- 23:45Speaker 5: hope in God MHM. When we are up against the wall,
- 23:54Speaker 5: we sometimes lose that hope. And I will say I
- 23:57Speaker 5: have I have done that. He is real and be
- 24:00Speaker 5: like cool, I know me and God we have conversations
- 24:02Speaker 5: like we just two different people. I know God, be like,
- 24:06Speaker 5: listen here, gess mean to call it? Doesn't call it
- 24:10Speaker 5: a dummy. And and I've been in for you before.
- 24:13Speaker 5: I'm like, yeah, God, but you know this one of
- 24:15Speaker 5: the kind? Did I foresee? Haven't I always been there?
- 24:19Speaker 5: M Yeah, God, you've been there, So I sit down,
- 24:21Speaker 5: line you've been and let me do my thing, because
- 24:24Speaker 5: God has to show you He is God. He's gonna
- 24:26Speaker 5: get you no point of impossible for you to see
- 24:29Speaker 5: that He is the one that made it possible.
- 24:32Speaker 4: That's right, that's right, that's right.
- 24:34Speaker 8: I think for me to even looking at that, all
- 24:38Speaker 8: the things that I've went through in life and not
- 24:40Speaker 8: that it's just about me just looking at people and
- 24:43Speaker 8: seeing things other people have went through, and seeing how
- 24:47Speaker 8: God has showed up, you know, over my life, watching
- 24:50Speaker 8: my parents and seeing how God showed up in the
- 24:53Speaker 8: most difficult times. It's made me one of those crazy
- 24:58Speaker 8: type of Christians right where I just believe, call it crazy,
- 25:02Speaker 8: I just believe God can do all things, right. I
- 25:05Speaker 8: just believe that when we stand with God and we act,
- 25:10Speaker 8: you know that we have the ability to do things
- 25:14Speaker 8: that we couldn't do on just our own. And so
- 25:18Speaker 8: it's made me one of those people that's like, let's
- 25:21Speaker 8: do it, let's try it.
- 25:22Speaker 4: You know, Oh we can do that, Oh you can
- 25:25Speaker 4: do that.
- 25:26Speaker 8: Because I've seen God move in such amazing ways that
- 25:31Speaker 8: I'm just like, well, if he did that, God, if
- 25:33Speaker 8: you did that, surely you could do this, right, God,
- 25:38Speaker 8: if you kept me through that, then I know you're
- 25:41Speaker 8: gonna keep me through this right.
- 25:43Speaker 4: And it's just that building on to our faith walk.
- 25:47Speaker 8: So it has made me and some of my friends
- 25:50Speaker 8: know that when I come up with things, I'm always
- 25:54Speaker 8: the one that be like, let's do this, and they
- 25:56Speaker 8: look at me like Felicia, and I'm like, no, really,
- 26:00Speaker 8: let's do this, and then they all line up like Okay,
- 26:03Speaker 8: let's do it.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Let's do it.
- 26:05Speaker 8: But it's just that I've seen God move in such
- 26:08Speaker 8: an amazing way. I've seen him open up doors that
- 26:12Speaker 8: were closed, you know, I've seen Him allow me in
- 26:16Speaker 8: spaces that I never imagine possible. And so for that
- 26:20Speaker 8: I continue to give him glory. I continue to just
- 26:23Speaker 8: want to you know, it's us telling our stories, right,
- 26:27Speaker 8: but it's us magnifying the Lord. So it's an extension
- 26:31Speaker 8: of a ministry for us, because it's not that Felicia
- 26:35Speaker 8: kept Felicia right.
- 26:37Speaker 4: It's God kept me.
- 26:39Speaker 8: And so it's just an extension of ministry for me
- 26:43Speaker 8: to share these stories and to proclaim that I know
- 26:48Speaker 8: that God is a keeper. And if there's anybody out
- 26:51Speaker 8: there who is at one of these crossfold moments that
- 26:54Speaker 8: we discussed, knowing that there's a way out, there's an
- 26:57Speaker 8: after this. Hold on, don't get up, don't quit, just.
- 27:01Speaker 5: Stay and even if you just gotta stand there for
- 27:04Speaker 5: a moment, because there's been times at that crossroad I
- 27:07Speaker 5: couldn't do anything right. All I could do is stand
- 27:10Speaker 5: for a minute and catch my breath and saying, and
- 27:13Speaker 5: I think that's what God wants.
- 27:15Speaker 8: He wants us to know that I can't move in
- 27:18Speaker 8: this moment, God, but you can.
- 27:21Speaker 4: I can't.
- 27:22Speaker 8: I'm tired, i can't do anything. I'm confused, I'm hurting.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 27:26Speaker 8: Which step to make, But God, you do. And so
- 27:30Speaker 8: it's us taking for me as a woman, taking that
- 27:33Speaker 8: pressure off of me that we as women have all
- 27:37Speaker 8: the time. We have pressures, you know, to keep the
- 27:40Speaker 8: family together, to work, to do all the things. But
- 27:43Speaker 8: me taking the pressure off of me and just being like, Okay, God,
- 27:47Speaker 8: we're at that moment, do what you're gonna do. I'm
- 27:50Speaker 8: gonna stand here and wait for direction. You do what
- 27:52Speaker 8: you're gonna do to lead.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Me, guide me right, but really just encourage people.
- 27:59Speaker 5: So I ain't very glad that you used and you
- 28:04Speaker 5: said those words, because guess what we're gonna go into
- 28:09Speaker 5: those funny questions. I was talking, Okay, let's go. So
- 28:16Speaker 5: you know, God like to come in and he like
- 28:18Speaker 5: to show up with God. So he said, we love
- 28:24Speaker 5: this book. We feel that this book needs to be
- 28:28Speaker 5: brought to life.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Mm hmmm.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Who would you want to play yourself in this book?
- 28:38Speaker 5: But but, but but they have to be a gospel singer,
- 28:47Speaker 5: Yolanda Adams, Yolanda Adams.
- 28:52Speaker 4: I ain't had nobody say your MoMA, Yolanda Adams.
- 28:58Speaker 5: Why are Yamanda? Because she would be you see how
- 29:04Speaker 5: she sing right and how she blow and so it
- 29:08Speaker 5: would have to be somebody that come across like that, right.
- 29:12Speaker 8: Because sometimes people tell me I come across like wooh,
- 29:15Speaker 8: this whole whirlwind.
- 29:17Speaker 4: Right. Yr Landa Adams, she would be the one.
- 29:21Speaker 8: She would hit those notes because I can't sing, but
- 29:26Speaker 8: just her presence, I feel like she if she could
- 29:29Speaker 8: portray it the way she sing it, it would.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Be done good.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, So a Crossroad Moments, Volume one, we
- 29:39Speaker 5: have Missus Tubbs being played by your Landa. All right,
- 29:45Speaker 5: your Loanda Adams. Guess what this is? Greed?
- 29:49Speaker 4: All right?
- 29:50Speaker 5: But every good movie or podcast we say needs a
- 29:56Speaker 5: theme song.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Y'all heard my earlier.
- 30:00Speaker 5: What would be your theme song? But we're gonna take
- 30:04Speaker 5: it back in the day. We need a good choir.
- 30:08Speaker 5: The Baptist choir with the sopranos told the tennis you know,
- 30:14Speaker 5: just like John P. Keith, hez a kaya walk. Oh
- 30:18Speaker 5: lord me excited? Who what song would it be? And
- 30:23Speaker 5: why did you choose that song to be the theme song?
- 30:28Speaker 5: A cross road moments one?
- 30:30Speaker 8: Okay, I don't know the choir that sings with him,
- 30:36Speaker 8: but I.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Know Pam does. She's on here, so she's gonna come
- 30:40Speaker 4: up with what.
- 30:40Speaker 8: But I told the storm to move.
- 30:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it.
- 30:51Speaker 5: That's what I think of because at that moments right,
- 30:54Speaker 5: I'm not standing here. You know, we love move the way.
- 31:01Speaker 4: So that would be it.
- 31:03Speaker 8: And the choir that I think if I had to
- 31:07Speaker 8: combine the song with the choir Mississippi mass choir, I
- 31:12Speaker 8: think that might be Mississippi.
- 31:14Speaker 5: So I'm not sure my grandma used to play that song.
- 31:19Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I don't know about y'all, but I would
- 31:23Speaker 5: love for that era to come back in. I have one.
- 31:28Speaker 5: Oh my god. I used to love to go to
- 31:31Speaker 5: church just to hear the choirs back in the day
- 31:33Speaker 5: in the rooms. I don't know why. It was just
- 31:38Speaker 5: it was like, I can't even explain it. I just
- 31:42Speaker 5: love it. I love it. I love it. Okay, I
- 31:49Speaker 5: told the story, mister theme song, we got your Mama
- 31:52Speaker 5: Adams playing Missis Tubbs. But guess what we need a
- 31:57Speaker 5: co producer. We need a cold producer. What male gospel
- 32:06Speaker 5: artists would you want to be the co producer? Why
- 32:11Speaker 5: did you choose that?
- 32:20Speaker 2: Oh?
- 32:20Speaker 8: Okay, let me say you got me on that.
- 32:24Speaker 5: And it could be it could be anyone, Okay.
- 32:30Speaker 8: So I'm gonna tell you that this is gonna sound weird, right.
- 32:40Speaker 8: Does it have to be a famous one?
- 32:43Speaker 4: Not somebody?
- 32:44Speaker 5: Okay, it could be any anybody who you choose.
- 32:49Speaker 8: Okay, I would choose this is okay, Ti Triviat, right,
- 33:03Speaker 8: And I'm gonna say that because Ti Triviatt has a
- 33:06Speaker 8: lot of energy.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Right, He's you know, he came across years ago.
- 33:11Speaker 8: He was really popular. I'm dating myself now, right, but
- 33:14Speaker 8: really popular. But he came across with that energy, right.
- 33:18Speaker 8: He had that energy to make people get up and
- 33:21Speaker 8: move and you know, and so I would want Tie
- 33:25Speaker 8: to co produce this with me, right, because We wouldn't
- 33:28Speaker 8: want this book to just be one that somebody put
- 33:30Speaker 8: on the shelf. Right, I wanted to come alive. I
- 33:33Speaker 8: want the people to feel the energy of the book
- 33:35Speaker 8: and the stories of my sisters and I as we
- 33:39Speaker 8: shared those moments. So it would have to be somebody
- 33:42Speaker 8: that bring a whole lot of energy to it. So
- 33:46Speaker 8: Ti Triviat, y'all, remember Ty Triviat. He will bounce across
- 33:49Speaker 8: that stage.
- 33:51Speaker 5: Yes, you on top of somebody who loves him, try
- 33:57Speaker 5: really loved Yeah. There was sometimes in the morning during
- 34:02Speaker 5: the school year she would just want to watch his videos,
- 34:04Speaker 5: watching get I love it. That's another yeah, that that
- 34:10Speaker 5: is he is nothing but a ball of energy. We
- 34:13Speaker 5: missed him when he came down here for Charleston, but
- 34:17Speaker 5: there was a friend of mine who went. She said
- 34:20Speaker 5: he had energy from the minute he walked on that stage.
- 34:23Speaker 5: In a minute he walked off, I said, I know
- 34:25Speaker 5: he sleep good at night. Yeah he bring the energy. Yeah, yes, man, Yeah,
- 34:32Speaker 5: that's come to it. You wanted to come alive, right,
- 34:36Speaker 5: you wanted to come. I don't want these our stories
- 34:40Speaker 5: and I got to do a shout out to my sisters.
- 34:42Speaker 4: So I'm gonna do this. My Sister Daniels, Mary Edwards.
- 34:49Speaker 8: Charie Shan Chandler, Vanessa Netto's, Wanda Greer, Jessica Anderson, and
- 34:56Speaker 8: my very own biological sister, Ava Jackson Stewart. All of
- 35:01Speaker 8: these women for when they had to trust me with
- 35:05Speaker 8: the process and trust God. And in the midst of
- 35:08Speaker 8: this they were they were sharing some intimate pieces of
- 35:12Speaker 8: their lives. And so with that, we don't want this
- 35:14Speaker 8: book to just be put on your shelf. Right, We
- 35:18Speaker 8: wanted to have energy. We want people to open it
- 35:22Speaker 8: and see themselves and know that they can get through it.
- 35:26Speaker 8: And so with that it has to be energy. That's
- 35:29Speaker 8: why I said, ty Trippet, because we wanted to move
- 35:32Speaker 8: right when you finished reading the book. You see somebody
- 35:36Speaker 8: going through, give them the book, let them have it,
- 35:39Speaker 8: you know, keep it moving.
- 35:41Speaker 4: That's that energy.
- 35:45Speaker 5: See you just answered my last question. My question was
- 35:48Speaker 5: going to be what would you want your readers to
- 35:52Speaker 5: take away? But if you want to do it again
- 35:54Speaker 5: and say it differently, I guess.
- 35:58Speaker 8: I just want readers who read Cross Road Moments to
- 36:03Speaker 8: one first and foremost. When we're going through certain things
- 36:07Speaker 8: in life, we think it's only us right, and sometimes
- 36:11Speaker 8: that could isolate us, right and make us.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Feel it's only me.
- 36:16Speaker 8: People won't understand or you know, and you hold it in.
- 36:20Speaker 8: But we wanted people to look at it and say,
- 36:25Speaker 8: other people go through things in life, and you can
- 36:29Speaker 8: come out of this, right, you can come out and
- 36:32Speaker 8: not look like what you've been through.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Right.
- 36:35Speaker 8: I don't look like I've been through a fire and
- 36:38Speaker 8: been burnt, right, but I have. And so that's what
- 36:42Speaker 8: we want people to know with this. Uh, I'm gonna
- 36:46Speaker 8: say piece of ministry, because this is a piece of
- 36:48Speaker 8: ministry for us that, for one, you don't have to
- 36:54Speaker 8: look like what you've been through and what you're going through.
- 36:56Speaker 8: There isn't after this and you can after these crossroad moments,
- 37:03Speaker 8: and that's what we would want people to get out
- 37:06Speaker 8: of this.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Yeah, that's beautiful. That is so beautiful. But now we've
- 37:14Speaker 5: got to tell them how we can get the book.
- 37:16Speaker 5: So tell us how we can get the book, how
- 37:19Speaker 5: we can follow you on social media? Just give us
- 37:23Speaker 5: the rundown.
- 37:24Speaker 8: Well, you can get the book. You can purchase the
- 37:26Speaker 8: book from Amazon. It is on Amazon. You can come
- 37:30Speaker 8: to any of our sites. We have a Crossroad Moment
- 37:34Speaker 8: sites where you can see some of the movement of
- 37:37Speaker 8: what we do. But looking at the book, all the
- 37:39Speaker 8: authors that I named, they all have separate you know,
- 37:44Speaker 8: social media, so it's not just me, but it is
- 37:48Speaker 8: eight of us and we are hitting the area.
- 37:52Speaker 4: We have our sister here, Pamela.
- 37:55Speaker 8: I think we're gonna have to give her an official
- 37:57Speaker 8: title because she is definitely keeping us moving and letting
- 38:02Speaker 8: people know about us. And so just go to my
- 38:08Speaker 8: site for Alicia Buried Facebook, you'll see some of the
- 38:11Speaker 8: things we do. We're trying to list those things where
- 38:13Speaker 8: we're going to be at. If you ever want us
- 38:16Speaker 8: to come and talk, reach out to me, we would
- 38:19Speaker 8: be more than happy to come.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Talk, teach, preach, encourage.
- 38:24Speaker 8: The only thing I won't do is sing, but reach
- 38:29Speaker 8: out and we would be wanting to collaborate with anybody.
- 38:35Speaker 8: And this, if you notice it's at value one, there
- 38:38Speaker 8: is more to come. I'm already working on volume two
- 38:41Speaker 8: and three. Volume two is a men's story, and these
- 38:45Speaker 8: brothers that are on this book that are working now,
- 38:48Speaker 8: I've seen the drafts.
- 38:50Speaker 4: It's a story and men need to hear that.
- 38:52Speaker 8: They find themselves at Crow Moments two and the third
- 38:57Speaker 8: volume is Course Road Moments through Our Eyes only, and
- 39:01Speaker 8: it is through the story of youth. Young people, and
- 39:05Speaker 8: some of my own grandchildren will share some of those
- 39:08Speaker 8: moments where they found themselves at a crossroad that they
- 39:12Speaker 8: had to move and and and allow God to do
- 39:17Speaker 8: something or do something different. So I'm excited about that.
- 39:22Speaker 8: I'm excited that God has chosen me for this season
- 39:25Speaker 8: to write to to talk about it and just to
- 39:29Speaker 8: continue to encourage people.
- 39:35Speaker 5: This is awesome. So you guys, you know what you
- 39:38Speaker 5: need to do. Write it now, grab your copy, grab
- 39:43Speaker 5: your homegirl a copy. How about y'all just do a
- 39:46Speaker 5: little girl's night for gentman Knight with some wings and
- 39:53Speaker 5: in some some some mock tails, y'all. Now we do
- 39:56Speaker 5: the church fund, you know, the serving and the mind
- 39:59Speaker 5: desprite mixed together. Yeah, they get together nice, a little
- 40:06Speaker 5: girl power, a little devotional time, you know what I'm saying.
- 40:09Speaker 5: Because we've got to get back and supporting each other's sisters.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Yes with you.
- 40:14Speaker 5: I'm not saying that we don't do it. But lately
- 40:17Speaker 5: the girl power thing, the coming together as friends and
- 40:21Speaker 5: just being with each other, I've seen a lot of
- 40:24Speaker 5: that and I'm loving it. Yes, yes, you think about it.
- 40:31Speaker 5: If you read the book and you're done. I know
- 40:34Speaker 5: you're going to see somebody that you meet that may
- 40:37Speaker 5: need this book. Take it to a shelter, Take it
- 40:40Speaker 5: to a hospital, because we wanted to reach people who
- 40:45Speaker 5: really made need some encouragement.
- 40:47Speaker 8: Take it to the jail. I'm trying to get it
- 40:50Speaker 8: in our jail so that they can see it, because
- 40:52Speaker 8: we want people to know that are going through that
- 40:55Speaker 8: you can come out of this. So look in unusual
- 40:59Speaker 8: places to bless people with this book.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Blessing boxes. People remember the little blessing boxes that are
- 41:09Speaker 5: from the schools and churches and stuff like. Yes, go ahead,
- 41:13Speaker 5: I know the library where I work. We don't we
- 41:16Speaker 5: don't call it blessing. We call it a book box.
- 41:19Speaker 4: And it's right.
- 41:21Speaker 5: Where all of the bus terminals is. They're always having
- 41:26Speaker 5: to REFULLI it.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 41:29Speaker 5: You would be shocked somebody is gonna pick up a
- 41:31Speaker 5: bookazar reading mm hmm. And then it looks like this
- 41:34Speaker 5: is encouraging, especially in the days and the age that
- 41:38Speaker 5: we're in right now.
- 41:39Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 41:42Speaker 5: Orange Man and the Seek.
- 41:44Speaker 4: Yes, this is what we need encouragement definitely.
- 41:48Speaker 5: And it's easy read.
- 41:49Speaker 8: It's an easy read. You know, you could put it's
- 41:52Speaker 8: really an easy read. I sat and read it and
- 41:54Speaker 8: I was like, this is I read straight through. It's
- 41:57Speaker 8: an easy read and it's so encouraging. If you know anybody,
- 42:01Speaker 8: If somebody's sitting here or you know someone and you're like,
- 42:04Speaker 8: this would be good for them, but they don't have it,
- 42:07Speaker 8: please reach out to me and I will make sure
