- 0:38Speaker 1: Birds become a member today.
- 0:50Speaker 2: So I'm going to ask you about the defense, Greg,
- 0:52Speaker 2: and I want to ask you about it. He's an
- 0:54Speaker 2: impending free agent Reblanketship, so I want to ask you this.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I was pretty impressed with Marcus Epps the last you know, yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 2: obviously six weeks of the season that he's played exclusively.
- 1:05Speaker 2: If they lose re Blankenship, do you think it's just
- 1:08Speaker 2: out of balance that Marcus EPs takes over his spot
- 1:11Speaker 2: and pair him with Andrew mccouba next year, or do
- 1:14Speaker 2: you think that that would maybe be stretching a little
- 1:16Speaker 2: too much, Because you know what I mean, I'm just
- 1:18Speaker 2: trying to find creative ways because we know they're going
- 1:19Speaker 2: to turn the roster over, and I was just impressed
- 1:23Speaker 2: with Apps, and I wanted to get your thoughts on
- 1:24Speaker 2: him and Blankenship.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I guess in particular, well, given what I know, and
- 1:28Speaker 3: this comes from a coach, I think, Frank, that would
- 1:30Speaker 3: be a little bit of a stretch because Blancanship is
- 1:34Speaker 3: considered in their minds.
- 1:36Speaker 4: To be one of the absolute keys to the defense
- 1:39Speaker 4: because of his intelligence and his understanding of everything that
- 1:42Speaker 4: vic Fangio wants done. So again, I don't know if
- 1:47Speaker 4: Reid Blankenship on the open market would command big, big dollars.
- 1:51Speaker 4: I don't know if he's a function of vic Fangio,
- 1:53Speaker 4: because clearly Blankenship in terms of pure physical traits would
- 1:57Speaker 4: not be considered top five or six in the league.
- 1:59Speaker 4: But you know, in a defense, in the vic Fango defense,
- 2:04Speaker 4: where there's literally an adjustment on every single play based
- 2:08Speaker 4: on what the offense is showing you, Blankenship is the conductor,
- 2:12Speaker 4: and I don't think he'd be easy to replace. Now,
- 2:15Speaker 4: I can't speak for Marcus Epps. You know, he hasn't
- 2:18Speaker 4: played enough under vic Fango for me to have any
- 2:21Speaker 4: sense of whether he could do something. He's another guy
- 2:25Speaker 4: that's obviously not a high level athlete for the position.
- 2:28Speaker 4: So you know, that's a hard question to answer. But
- 2:31Speaker 4: I know that the staff and they don't make the
- 2:34Speaker 4: decision obviously, and there could be many other factors. You know. Again,
- 2:37Speaker 4: I'm not comparing him to Milton Williams. But if somebody
- 2:40Speaker 4: is going to offer Red Blankenship a boatload of money,
- 2:43Speaker 4: my guess is the Eagles wouldn't match that. But if
- 2:47Speaker 4: people look at Blankenship and think, oh, nice player, but
- 2:50Speaker 4: we're not paying him for four or five years for
- 2:52Speaker 4: X amount of dollars, maybe he's back with the Eagles.
- 2:54Speaker 1: But I.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Think that Blankenship is far more important to the defense.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Then people probably are aware.
- 3:02Speaker 5: I've seen probably five to six different plays that I
- 3:09Speaker 5: didn't see all year in that game. So you tell
- 3:12Speaker 5: me if that's anything different and what from what I've seen,
- 3:20Speaker 5: it was totally different in the second half. Like I've
- 3:24Speaker 5: seen a lot of different things in the in the
- 3:27Speaker 5: first half and then I.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Didn't in the second half, which is normal.
- 3:32Speaker 5: No offense, I'm telling my offense I've seen them. I mean,
- 3:36Speaker 5: you guys tell me or you, greg you tell me
- 3:39Speaker 5: I've seen at least five to six different plays that
- 3:41Speaker 5: I've never seen all year, and then the second half
- 3:45Speaker 5: its just I didn't normally do it just disappear? Am
- 3:49Speaker 5: I crazy?
- 3:49Speaker 4: Greg Or? Or? Did you see some different.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Things that you haven't seen?
- 3:53Speaker 4: And again I didn't. If they did that, I didn't
- 3:56Speaker 4: notice it in that way where I went, oh, that's
- 3:58Speaker 4: something I haven't seen. So I would say, Alic, that's
- 4:01Speaker 4: probably not true. Again, I don't want to sit here
- 4:04Speaker 4: and swear to it, but it's probably not true. I
- 4:07Speaker 4: will say this guys, you know, and I joke about
- 4:10Speaker 4: it with my guys in the matchup room here all
- 4:12Speaker 4: the time. You know, so many people rip the Eagles,
- 4:15Speaker 4: and that's been that was in vogue this particular week
- 4:18Speaker 4: about how well they run the same plays over again.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Everybody runs the same plays over again. That is not
- 4:25Speaker 4: unique to the Eagles. I mean, I could show you
- 4:27Speaker 4: Ben Johnson's offense. They run the same plays, you know,
- 4:31Speaker 4: over and over again too. You know, when plays are successful,
- 4:34Speaker 4: no one says anything. You know, when when plays are
- 4:37Speaker 4: not successful, then people goh my god, they're running the
- 4:39Speaker 4: same plays. You can't do that, So you know, you
- 4:42Speaker 4: got to be careful with all that kind of stuff.
- 4:44Speaker 4: We all know that the Eagle pass game is not expansive.
- 4:47Speaker 4: We know that, so I'm not going to sit here
- 4:49Speaker 4: and say it is. It's not. In fact, it's elementary
- 4:52Speaker 4: and remedial. And we've discussed that all throughout the season,
- 4:55Speaker 4: and maybe we'll find out with a new coordinator whoever
- 4:58Speaker 4: they bring in. My personal feeling on that, and I
- 5:03Speaker 4: don't know if anybody who's gonna ask me about it,
- 5:05Speaker 4: but I'll just give you my very quick thought is
- 5:07Speaker 4: I think you've got to bring someone in who challenges
- 5:10Speaker 4: Jalen Hurts and the entire offense doesn't rely on, oh,
- 5:14Speaker 4: this is what you're comfortable with, will do this? I
- 5:17Speaker 4: think now that's a part of it, because obviously you're
- 5:20Speaker 4: not going to treat Jailen Hurts like he's three years old.
- 5:22Speaker 4: But the bottom line is you need someone at this
- 5:25Speaker 4: moment in time that's going to challenge him. He's at
- 5:29Speaker 4: that point in his career he needs to be challenged,
- 5:31Speaker 4: and from everything you read about him, it seems he'd
- 5:33Speaker 4: be open to that. You know, we're not there, but
- 5:35Speaker 4: that seems to be the case, and you got to
- 5:38Speaker 4: challenge everybody. You got to start from scratch and challenge everybody.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Hey, it's that time of the year that everyone's trying

- 8:58Speaker 7: Camden Apothecary, top holiday cannabis, great prices and an experience
- 9:02Speaker 7: made for Philly fans. Twenty one and up.
- 9:07Speaker 8: Question on the last play of the game, Yeah, watching
- 9:12Speaker 8: it on TV, it absolutely looked like Jaalen's when he
- 9:18Speaker 8: was thrown a god or goddard was double loof not
- 9:21Speaker 8: triple covered. Now, some of that may have been the
- 9:25Speaker 8: third guy being led into it by Jalen's eyes. Was
- 9:31Speaker 8: when you looked at the all twenty two? Was there
- 9:33Speaker 8: another throw? Like was that the throw to make or
- 9:38Speaker 8: was there another throw on that play?
- 9:40Speaker 4: Talking about the fourth down play the last play of.
- 9:42Speaker 8: The game, Yeah, last play of the game.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna pull it up and look at it again.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I know it well.
- 9:46Speaker 5: But so.
- 9:50Speaker 4: There was not another throw as I recall, and that
- 9:52Speaker 4: that's a concern on a play call like that, you
- 9:55Speaker 4: want to have more than one answer. So basically what
- 9:58Speaker 4: happened was is they ended up up playing quarters and
- 10:01Speaker 4: the ball is at the twenty one yard line, so
- 10:03Speaker 4: it's just outside the red zone and quarters, which is
- 10:07Speaker 4: four across. Basically, an umbrella coverage is a very common
- 10:10Speaker 4: coverage at this part of the field for many NFL teams,
- 10:13Speaker 4: and certainly the Niners, who are very much a quarters
- 10:18Speaker 4: type team. So what they basically ran with was four
- 10:22Speaker 4: verticals and then they had the two slot guys bend
- 10:26Speaker 4: inside because you're not just going to run straight at
- 10:29Speaker 4: the two quarter safeties. So what they teach is, if
- 10:32Speaker 4: it's quarters, the two inside verticals become benders inside. Now
- 10:39Speaker 4: what happens here is there's no there's really no other
- 10:41Speaker 4: throw and like I said that to me, you know,
- 10:46Speaker 4: you have to have another answer besides one. But based
- 10:50Speaker 4: on this play call Mark, he made the right throw.
- 10:53Speaker 4: The problem is what he has to do is he
- 10:58Speaker 4: has to stare down Hendricks as he drops to keep
- 11:02Speaker 4: Kendricks away from Goddard. Because what happens is is he
- 11:07Speaker 4: stared it down and he was a beat late with
- 11:09Speaker 4: the throw. So because ultimately you're making this throw off
- 11:13Speaker 4: the underneath hook defender, you know, so you can't wait
- 11:18Speaker 4: until Goddard is behind the hook defender. You have to
- 11:21Speaker 4: throw it before Godard even begins his break. So two
- 11:25Speaker 4: things happen here is Jalen is late and he stared
- 11:29Speaker 4: it down too long, which brought Kendricks over. But the
- 11:32Speaker 4: bottom line is there is no other throw and that
- 11:35Speaker 4: was a flaw in the in the route concept itself.
- 11:39Speaker 7: Great stuff, everybody. It has been a fantastic season. Greg,
- 11:42Speaker 7: thanks so much for everything all year.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Je we I hope we can do this as we
- 11:48Speaker 4: start doing draft stuff, because I'll be I'll be starting
- 11:50Speaker 4: that next week starting to.
- 11:51Speaker 7: Live Absolutely, we will definitely do uh you know the
- 11:55Speaker 7: intel with Greg Kossel probably only start probably a few
- 11:58Speaker 7: weeks before we start that up, which will be free
- 12:00Speaker 7: agency in draft, and you know, obviously we'll be doing
- 12:03Speaker 7: a lot more live streams.
- 12:04Speaker 4: So it sounds like you can just send the invoice
- 12:06Speaker 4: right to yebo.
- 12:08Speaker 7: Yeah, yes, yes, inside on Yebo. Yeah yeah, I appreciate it.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Everybody, have a great guys, really enjoyed it. Tough to
- 12:17Speaker 4: see you guys soon.
