Transcript
- 0:17Speaker 1: What shaken Emily Abadi. Here you are listening to five
- 0:21Speaker 1: Minute Friday from Hurdle helpe you out a good week?
- 0:25Speaker 1: I you know what? How did I describe this? Earlier?
- 0:28Speaker 1: I was sitting at the gym next to a girlfriend
- 0:32Speaker 1: and I said to her that I feel as though
- 0:35Speaker 1: I have been sprinting on a treadmill this whole month.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I cannot believe it's already January twenty seventh, on the
- 0:43Speaker 1: day that this episode comes out, and somehow I miraculously
- 0:49Speaker 1: haven't fallen off of the tread And that's really it, right.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I feel as the life is moving at one thousand
- 0:56Speaker 1: miles an hour and I'm doing the best I can
- 0:58Speaker 1: with what I have, And honestly, that's all that I
- 1:01Speaker 1: can ask myself at this moment. For five Minute Friday
- 1:04Speaker 1: this week, I want to talk about energy. Now. It's funny.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I hear myself saying that out loud, and I remember
- 1:12Speaker 1: years ago when I used to hear individuals talk about energy.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I thought it was like a little goopy, a little
- 1:18Speaker 1: woo wooye. Insert funny adjective here to describe how it's
- 1:26Speaker 1: kind of whimsical, right, And now, having spent a lot
- 1:32Speaker 1: of time immersed in influential teachings from authors that I admire,
- 1:37Speaker 1: ranging from Angela Duckworth and Gretchen Rubin to mel Robbins
- 1:44Speaker 1: and James Clear. So many of these individuals that I
- 1:48Speaker 1: admire touch on the concept of energy often, and so
- 1:52Speaker 1: it is something that I have become much more accepting of.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So this week on the show, that's exactly what I
- 2:00Speaker 1: want to talk about. I want to talk about energy. Specifically,
- 2:04Speaker 1: energy attracts like energy, So what does that mean. That
- 2:08Speaker 1: means that if you go into your day and you
- 2:10Speaker 1: are super positive, then it's likely that you are going
- 2:14Speaker 1: to interact with and find positive things around you, Whereas
- 2:19Speaker 1: if you go into your day and you have a
- 2:22Speaker 1: negative attitude, it is likely that you are going to
- 2:25Speaker 1: easily be able to find things wrong with the world
- 2:29Speaker 1: that you interact with around you. To clearly paint a picture,
- 2:35Speaker 1: the positive person could be sitting at a diner and
- 2:39Speaker 1: look outside and notice an elderly couple helping one another
- 2:46Speaker 1: across the street and think about how lovely that is.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Whereas they could be sitting across the table eating with
- 2:53Speaker 1: someone who is negative and they look out the window
- 2:56Speaker 1: and they don't even notice the happily engaged elderly couple.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Instead they notice like a dirty puddle of water on
- 3:07Speaker 1: the side of the road. And so I say all
- 3:11Speaker 1: of this because I have really been conscious lately of
- 3:16Speaker 1: the energy I'm putting out into the world, knowing so
- 3:19Speaker 1: wholeheartedly what it is that I want to receive. I've
- 3:22Speaker 1: been going out of my way to spend time with
- 3:25Speaker 1: people that make me feel filled up, like they're filling
- 3:29Speaker 1: up my cup. And I can say from the conversations
- 3:32Speaker 1: that I have with these individuals that it's a mutual thing.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And so I ask you today what is it that
- 3:39Speaker 1: you want to receive? And when you answer that question,
- 3:45Speaker 1: ask yourself what is it that I am putting out
- 3:49Speaker 1: into the world. So transitioning into the listener prompt, what
- 3:53Speaker 1: is it that you want to receive? And the second part,
- 3:57Speaker 1: what is it that you're putting out into the world.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It's food for thought, right, and and sometimes putting out
- 4:04Speaker 1: what you want back can feel like a challenge, And
- 4:08Speaker 1: that's okay. It's kind of like the Alexipopus rule of thirds, right,
- 4:12Speaker 1: Like a third of the time training is going to
- 4:16Speaker 1: absolutely suck. A third of the time it's going to
- 4:18Speaker 1: feel okay, and a third of the time it's just
- 4:20Speaker 1: going to click. And so while I can recommend or
- 4:24Speaker 1: suggest that you try to meet each day with optimism
- 4:28Speaker 1: and a positive attitude, I recognize that's not what always
- 4:31Speaker 1: is going to happen. So with that said, what is
- 4:35Speaker 1: within your control to show up and seek out what
- 4:39Speaker 1: it is that you are after, knowing what you have
- 4:43Speaker 1: to offer in return? And now a listener question.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Hi Emily de sis Nisha. First of all, I want
- 4:52Speaker 2: to thank you for all the amating content that you
- 4:54Speaker 2: keep on creating. I'm a life coach and since you
- 4:58Speaker 2: have started Studding to become my life coach, I can
- 5:00Speaker 2: see the difference in the way that you ask your
- 5:03Speaker 2: questions from your guests, and it is truly beautiful. My
- 5:07Speaker 2: question for you is what are your recommendations for someone
- 5:12Speaker 2: who wants to start podcasting and what are the basic
- 5:17Speaker 2: tools and equipments that you would recomment me buying. And
- 5:22Speaker 2: I would really appreciated if you can also like add
- 5:25Speaker 2: some links maybe from Amazon. Thank you so much and
- 5:29Speaker 2: I look forward to hearing your recommendations.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I love this motivation. Hi Nusha, thank you so much
- 5:36Speaker 1: for your question. I'm excited to answer it. I do
- 5:39Speaker 1: have a course that goes into this in depth. It
- 5:43Speaker 1: is a hurdle session. I'll link that hurdle session called
- 5:46Speaker 1: intro to Podcasting in the show notes so you can
- 5:48Speaker 1: check it out. In addition, however, when it comes to podcasting,
- 5:53Speaker 1: literally the only thing that you need to start off
- 5:57Speaker 1: is an inexpensive USB microphone. For the first year or
- 6:01Speaker 1: two of Hurdle, I used a blue Yetti Snowball microphone.
- 6:06Speaker 1: It retails on Amazon for ninety nine ninety nine and
- 6:09Speaker 1: it was the perfect low frills piece of equipment for
- 6:14Speaker 1: me to get this thing going. In addition to a microphone,
- 6:18Speaker 1: you may want a good pair of headphones, although the
- 6:22Speaker 1: corded Apple headphones will do just fine. And then beyond
- 6:26Speaker 1: that you'll need some sort of editing tool on your laptop.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So software I use Garage Band. It comes free with
- 6:33Speaker 1: my Mac. There are also other programs including Adobe and Audacity,
- 6:39Speaker 1: and now you can even edit on some of the
- 6:43Speaker 1: various hosting platforms out there. The most important piece of
- 6:47Speaker 1: advice I can offer, however, to any aspiring podcaster is
- 6:51Speaker 1: be really clear on what your goal is by podcasting
- 6:55Speaker 1: and what it is that you want to offer your
- 6:57Speaker 1: audience so so often will come to me and they say,
- 7:01Speaker 1: I want a podcast, but I just don't know, Like
- 7:03Speaker 1: there's so many out there. And the thing is is
- 7:06Speaker 1: that there's only one you. You are the only you
- 7:10Speaker 1: that there is. So don't let the fact that there
- 7:14Speaker 1: are a lot of podcasts in the world deter you
- 7:17Speaker 1: from sharing your lights. But with that said, know what
- 7:23Speaker 1: it is that you want to share and be really
- 7:25Speaker 1: clear on that. Ask yourself, why why am I saying this?
- 7:29Speaker 1: What is my goal? And that's really going to help
- 7:32Speaker 1: you on your journey to creating consistent content. I will
- 7:37Speaker 1: again share some of my go to podcasting tools in
- 7:41Speaker 1: the show notes with Amazon links as requested, and again
- 7:45Speaker 1: that Hurdle session on intron of Podcasting will also be
- 7:49Speaker 1: in there for those of you that are interested. I
- 7:52Speaker 1: believe that is it for this week. I love your
- 7:55Speaker 1: listener questions and again no topics are off limits, So
- 7:58Speaker 1: head on over to the show notes and click leave
- 8:01Speaker 1: me a voice message to have yours featured in an
- 8:04Speaker 1: upcoming episode of Five Minute Friday. Make sure you're following
