- 0:00Unknown: Through my eyes, I've never achieved enough.
- 0:04Deborah Mitchell, founder of a successful global skin care
- 0:08brand, The Royal A list facialist, beauty innovator and
- 0:13pioneer of natural formulas including the world famous B
- 0:17Venom Facial. Anyway, it went all over the
- 0:20world and I became a multimillionaire overnight.
- 0:26You do look. Incredibly young.
- 0:28Let me just. That's pretty like.
- 0:31Literally. Oh thank you for saying that,
- 0:33but they stole all my formulas. Yeah, yeah.
- 0:36Should have done. In business that happens is a
- 0:39lot of stories. Once you've achieved or you've
- 0:41got a grounding, you don't get men as much saying, you know,
- 0:47questioning. But when I hadn't achieved and I
- 0:52wanted to change my packaging, I found a company.
- 0:56It was Roma Glass and they wouldn't supply me because I was
- 1:00a woman. And thanks for coming in.
- 1:06And I'm just wondering how are we going to introduce you and
- 1:10how do we introduce Someone Like You?
- 1:11Because you're absolutely brilliant with what you've
- 1:14achieved. You've literally gone and built
- 1:17a business from nothing to everything.
- 1:19You've done it by yourself. You have no investors, you're
- 1:23not getting much help. You've done this yourself.
- 1:26You've suffered all the pain of it and then you've got the
- 1:29rewards with an incredible skin care brand and not only have you
- 1:35built a skin care brand, but you're a innovator.
- 1:37So you design the products, you come up with these concepts,
- 1:41which is a very creative process.
- 1:43So you are building the business.
- 1:45You're also hugely creative and hugely successful so I it's my
- 1:50honour, absolute honour to have you on here and learn, learn,
- 1:53learn, learn from you. Well, do you know what,
- 1:55Alexandra? It was absolutely fantastic to
- 1:59be invited on this amazing podcast that you've got.
- 2:02And I am actually really thrilled to be here.
- 2:06I am. I love the area.
- 2:08We were saying earlier, we, I love the way people say hi.
- 2:12Yeah, it's great. You know, it's a nice area, nice
- 2:15friendly area. That's nice.
- 2:17I'm glad people have been have good manners.
- 2:20I mean, it's not always like that, but it's nice.
- 2:22It's nice when people say hello and when they're friendly.
- 2:25I don't even believe that I've done you justice with the
- 2:28introduction. So I would like to know how you
- 2:30see yourself. Like what do you do and how do
- 2:34you see? What do you do what you do and
- 2:36do you feel that you're successful?
- 2:39I do feel I'm successful, but I think success is probably
- 2:44through the mirror of somebody else's eyes to be honest,
- 2:49because it was through my eyes. I've never achieved enough
- 2:53through other people. Obviously I, I am.
- 2:56I can be in a restaurant and people can recognise me and they
- 3:01can be thrilled about my products.
- 3:03They love using my products. And I think, yeah, I get fan
- 3:10mail. I got some more fan mail this
- 3:12week which is all all very nice and I don't know what obviously
- 3:19when you are what, what says success to me.
- 3:27I think when I was younger there is things that I did want and I
- 3:34achieved those and they said success to me.
- 3:39But now success is a different conversation.
- 3:44So it's. Changed, it's a change, it's a
- 3:47change conversation. So if you take yourself sort of
- 3:52back to when I first started out, I mean, maybe, maybe I'll
- 3:58mention obviously I'm flying all over the world, I'm in palaces,
- 4:03I'm meeting people, I'm meeting friends of very important people
- 4:08and they're they are really, really lovely to me.
- 4:11So that actually does say success because you're there or
- 4:17you're in the right place, the right place.
- 4:19Hanging around the palace, I mean.
- 4:20Hanging around the palace, yeah. We do more than hanging around
- 4:23but. We'll get but also hanging
- 4:25around the people around the palace, Yeah, that look after
- 4:29the palace or speak to the palace and things like that,
- 4:32which I had a really wonderful meeting with an amazing person
- 4:38that sort of so and and I probably wouldn't have met that
- 4:44person if I hadn't been involved with the palace.
- 4:47Gosh. So I was very lucky.
- 4:49I don't want to go into tea. I know.
- 4:51I know you. I know.
- 4:53We'll be careful. But it is you have to be
- 4:55careful. But and that was like, oh wow,
- 4:59that's nice. Isn't that nice?
- 5:01That's so, you know, somebody, you know, and, and, and I feel
- 5:07very honoured when I get these things.
- 5:11You know they're not. Something I've noticed about you
- 5:14and because Sammy is saying who's coming in?
- 5:15Who's coming in? Who are you interviewing today?
- 5:17And and I was saying to him, and one thing I had to say about you
- 5:20is that despite all your success, and you do literally
- 5:24hang around the palace and you rub shoulders with these amazing
- 5:26people and you've achieved enormous success professionally.
- 5:30You're a very down to earth, relaxing person to be around.
- 5:36But OK, let's let's get into this.
- 5:38So you're known as the facialists to Royals and, you
- 5:44know, a star celebrities. So for those that are watching
- 5:47that don't know what a facialist is, what is that?
- 5:50So I'm actually a fully qualified beauty therapist and I
- 5:57actually make my own skin care range.
- 6:01Made it for years and and love it so to be a facialist, a
- 6:07facialist has to be somebody that's very special and
- 6:10different. And what I do in my treatments
- 6:14is people have said it's miraculous.
- 6:19They levitate out of their body and they feel incredibly.
- 6:25This is the things that they say they feel incredibly different.
- 6:29Some people cry, some don't. Their face gets altered into an
- 6:36another sort of look. Yeah, 10 years younger is quite
- 6:41an easy thing to say, but it's not that.
- 6:43It's like a childlike look that they gain from not just the skin
- 6:49care, but the manipulation of the head and and the body and
- 6:53the transformation of their. They're literally their soul,
- 6:57really. So we train this all over the
- 7:01world. I like to hope that I'm, like,
- 7:07really good. And the people I train aren't
- 7:10actually as good as me, right? But are.
- 7:13They good as. Well, they're pretty good.
- 7:15They are pretty good. I've trained, we've trained them
- 7:17really well, but I actually feel that that is my, my, my life and
- 7:25the way I want to be. I want to be good to people and
- 7:29look after people and I really don't mind if they are royalty
- 7:34or if they are anybody really, you know, please don't think I
- 7:41would be just only doing celebrities or anything like
- 7:44that. It's quite.
- 7:45An intimate thing to get. So you, you've got the skin care
- 7:48business, you've got these products and we'll get into it.
- 7:50You, you actually design the product, you know what goes into
- 7:53them and you choose what goes into them.
- 7:55But then you're also the facialist and you've, you've,
- 7:57you've done this for how many years now have you been doing?
- 8:00This Well, yeah, 30 years, our business is incorporated.
- 8:05I say ours, mine and my daughter Ella, yes, and but obviously I
- 8:12was 18. 18 when you started with this whole.
- 8:15Yeah, little cow. Well, I didn't have a couch to
- 8:18begin with. I had AI had actually the the
- 8:21their bed, their their, their city.
- 8:23So I'd go round to the house. I couldn't afford any skin care
- 8:26products, so I'd make a product and leave it with them.
- 8:30Gosh, and how did you know what to make it with?
- 8:32Because I was trained, so I was trained.
- 8:35I'm thoroughly trained in skin care making.
- 8:38So that is actually part of my my higher national diploma
- 8:43course, degree course. Because to do that, it's a, it's
- 8:47a very intimate thing. You really come up and close to
- 8:49someone, you know, and that person, in a way, they're
- 8:52vulnerable as well. They sort of lie in there and,
- 8:55and you're working on their face and you're doing all these
- 8:58treatments and it is a very, it's like a connection.
- 9:01It, it, it, it was a really beautiful connection every time
- 9:05because and I couldn't even afford a diary.
- 9:08So I'd remember their, their time slot in my head.
- 9:13And so I would only book them. It's really funny because I, I
- 9:16look back to what happened to me then and it created my business
- 9:22and I will mention it now because I could only remember
- 9:26every two weeks. So I couldn't, they couldn't
- 9:29book on every three weeks. So without to book every week or
- 9:32every every two weeks. And to be absolutely truthful,
- 9:37it was actually a all of these things made me more successful,
- 9:44like handing them the product free afterwards when they were
- 9:48going to buy it, I would always hand a product free.
- 9:53But in my head I would be handing it free.
- 9:55They would be purchasing it, but I would be handing it free
- 9:58because being quite healing sort of person, I'm not really one, a
- 10:02big one on selling things. So that actually changed the,
- 10:08the attitude of me. So every time I hand something
- 10:11over, I'm sort of in my head, it's like free.
- 10:14It's not that they're they're paying, so they're paying for
- 10:18the product now, but it's like our most beautiful product, our
- 10:22most gorgeous product is it's an age defiance anti aging product.
- 10:29And so this is my favorite product of all time.
- 10:34It's not the best seller at the moment because we don't
- 10:37publicise it. And this is the one that stopped
- 10:40me having acne. So I absolutely love this
- 10:45product but it's stopped me having acne and actually keeps
- 10:49me younger. So it's a beautiful product and
- 10:55it's one of the key ingredients to my range, I believe.
- 10:58What is the product? So it's called Age Defiance
- 11:01Moisturizer. And what's it got in it that
- 11:04that defies age? It's.
- 11:06Got it's got an ingredient called DSH.
- 11:11So there's a lot of hyaluronic out acids out there, but they're
- 11:16not all equal. And this one is the best of the
- 11:19bunch. It's called demethanol salon
- 11:22hyaluronate, and I found this ingredient at a very difficult
- 11:28time in my career, which I'll tell you about in a second, but
- 11:35it was very, very expensive. It's still very expensive and
- 11:38the reason it's so expensive probably is because nobody uses
- 11:41it, only me. And I think that makes the
- 11:45product so much more, the ingredients so much more
- 11:48expensive. And hopefully nobody will look
- 11:51at it and pinch it out there, but it makes the skin look very,
- 11:54very young, very sort of it. It makes the skin come out, pop
- 11:59out and you can use it under your eyes.
- 12:02And it's just gorgeous, gorgeous ingredient.
- 12:05Anyway, I founded that I found that ingredient because over the
- 12:11time what happened to me is I was doing treatments on people
- 12:16in their own home. Then I'd go various different
- 12:22places around, and I actually arrived at a health club and
- 12:33they asked me if I wanted to join this health club.
- 12:38And I said obviously, yes. And they said, look, we've got a
- 12:46room here. We know you're a good
- 12:48beautician. We've heard about you.
- 12:50Would you like to have this room?
- 12:51And I said, yeah, yeah. Sure.
- 12:54And so I had this room and they opened the door and it was a
- 12:59disabled toilet. They took the toilet out but it
- 13:03was square so I had to move the couch every time I wanted to go
- 13:07round the side. Right, OK.
- 13:09But that was my first treatment room.
- 13:14So when I was there at that was the Holiday Inn at Telford.
- 13:18That's where it was. And then I did really, really
- 13:21well there. And I kept on giving the
- 13:23products to people. And I was so busy with that
- 13:27Holiday Inn at Telford that I couldn't make the products
- 13:31myself at home because I was too busy.
- 13:35I got really, really busy and if you can imagine, £13,000 is an
- 13:41OK amount of money to take every month now.
- 13:44But then like when I was 28 and I'm 60 now, that's a long time
- 13:50ago to be taking £13,000 a month and that's what I was doing.
- 13:55So you can imagine the level of input that I had to do with the
- 14:00staff and everything with two beauty rooms, which was one a
- 14:05disabled toilet and the other one was a sun bedroom.
- 14:08How small? A sun bedroom is very long and
- 14:12thin. Anyway, basically that was it.
- 14:15So I went to another company and I said, can can you make my
- 14:20products for me? And me as excited as I was, I've
- 14:23said this product is really amazing because it does this and
- 14:27it only does this because of this ingredient.
- 14:30Like I'm telling you about the age defiance, demethanol,
- 14:33salamol, hyaluronate, and I'm telling you that ingredient.
- 14:36I'm telling you how young you'll look and everything else.
- 14:40So do you know what they did? They stole all my formulas.
- 14:44Yeah, yeah. IP.
- 14:47Yeah, and they stole everything and I'd paid them thousands of
- 14:51pounds. Yeah.
- 14:54Terrible. It was terrible.
- 14:56But it was a learning curve for me.
- 14:57And when I did this, I saw that they had stolen my products,
- 15:08stolen my formulas that I'd given them freely.
- 15:11I'd been so excited I hadn't signed.
- 15:13Anything. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:17That happens in business. That happens is a lot of
- 15:19stories. I didn't think I needed to
- 15:21anyway. So for four days I cried.
- 15:25I cried a lot. And then I thought, do you know
- 15:27what? I'll just make it better.
- 15:29And this ingredient, somebody actually told me about this
- 15:34ingredient. Most of my products I, I'll tell
- 15:37you about that, but most of my other ingredients are different.
- 15:40But this particular ingredient, somebody told me about it and
- 15:45he, this person said this is the best ingredient, but nobody
- 15:51wants to use it because it's too expensive.
- 15:54I said I'll have it, I'll have it.
- 15:56And it was amazing. If it's that good.
- 15:59Now, if I hadn't had that experience, Victoria Beckham
- 16:05wouldn't have phoned me. She wouldn't have phoned me up
- 16:08and thanked me for my Age Defiance moisturizer.
- 16:11So and because she did thank me, it was in the papers.
- 16:17And obviously that's a relationship that builds up,
- 16:21isn't it? But what happens with that is
- 16:25that was a bad thing that happened to me and it created a
- 16:30good thing. Yeah, and it's and you've
- 16:33learned from it, but it's a horrible thing to have gone
- 16:36through. Yeah, but you can't look at the
- 16:38negatives. You've got to look at the
- 16:40positives that you gained from it.
- 16:42Yeah, gosh, mindset. That's the mindset of a
- 16:48successful woman right there. Let's go back a little bit.
- 16:53So you're a facialist, you've got this intimate connection
- 16:58with these people up close and personal.
- 17:01You want to heal them. You want to let them have this
- 17:05lovely experience. You want them to only have the
- 17:06best on their face. All these things you inspire to
- 17:09have this product line, you want to give them these products.
- 17:12And then you find yourself as the facialist for Queen Camilla
- 17:16that this, this is what the the papers are saying.
- 17:18So you can say what you can say and don't say what you can't
- 17:21say. But again, that's an intimate
- 17:24relationship. And of course, you've got to be
- 17:26extremely good and know what you're doing and the pressure's
- 17:30on you. You better not make any
- 17:33mistakes. I'm sure you've got everyone
- 17:34watching you. But yeah, it must be quite a
- 17:38quite an interesting position to be in You're.
- 17:40Saying you're saying like, OK, and I what I want to do is bring
- 17:48this back to not just me, but to anything in the people that are
- 17:54watching this, anything in their life that's negative or they're
- 17:58worried about all their sort of thing.
- 18:01So because what I want to say is obviously I'm I get the phone
- 18:06call from the palace, literally a palace.
- 18:12Do you want to come and do a treatment on then?
- 18:15Camilla Parker Bowles So so The thing is about things that are
- 18:23are amazing. You've got an idea of whether
- 18:27you because people can fear success as much as they can fear
- 18:35failure. So you have to have an
- 18:39achievement or something or a pattern of something to make
- 18:46sure you go towards that achievement.
- 18:49Because sometimes you can avoid it.
- 18:52Something that's really good for you, you can, you can actually
- 18:55like backpedal. And it's a funny thing that
- 18:59people don't actually realise they're doing.
- 19:02And I think it's important to know these things because if I
- 19:07hadn't had previous experience, which I will mention in a little
- 19:10while, I wouldn't have greeted this with open heart and open I
- 19:16wouldn't have done. So it's like, yeah, Camilla
- 19:20Parker Bowles going to be going to a palace.
- 19:23Yeah. OK, I'm in there.
- 19:25I'm doing. That's OK.
- 19:26What do I wear? That's fine.
- 19:28What do I wear? What do you wear?
- 19:30What do you do? I believe in what I'm doing,
- 19:32blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 19:33I'm OK. There was no negatives when I
- 19:38got to the palace straight away. I didn't have to take a couch.
- 19:41They'd got their set up there, but somebody was using that at
- 19:45that time. So they said maybe you're not
- 19:48going to do a treatment today because that's busy, That area's
- 19:52busy. And I thought, OK, it's not
- 19:57right yet. Now that's important because if
- 20:02you go, let it go, it's not right yet.
- 20:05Anyway, so, yeah, coming through, you're fine.
- 20:08I love that attitude. It's not right.
- 20:10Yeah, you've got to do that. You've got to let it go.
- 20:13You can't hold onto. It's like, I've got to do this.
- 20:16Well, you haven't got to do it because give up like just, you
- 20:23know, let it go. And I did.
- 20:27And then as I walk in, I'm like not walking into a person that's
- 20:35so important. And obviously they are and but I
- 20:39appreciate the things about them.
- 20:41Yeah, yeah. And I think, wow, this lady is
- 20:44such a nice lady. I actually like her.
- 20:47Yeah, yeah, she's I'm going to be doing a treatment.
- 20:49I'm going to be doing a treatment on this lady that I
- 20:52actually AM. The way she greeted me,
- 20:55everything. I like her.
- 20:57So I did. And.
- 20:58And we got on like a house on fire.
- 21:00I did actually manage to meet the king at that same occasion.
- 21:08How did that feel? It's like I'm meeting the king.
- 21:14I'm meeting the king. Yeah.
- 21:15OK. Let it go.
- 21:16Relax, Breathe. Breathe.
- 21:19Yeah. And then carry on.
- 21:21Trust yourself. And that's the thing about it,
- 21:25you know, that is it. Yeah, trust yourself and and
- 21:31don't panic. It's.
- 21:33Funny, but it's the panicking is like the panicking would come
- 21:37from something that you're not good at.
- 21:39If you if you've done your job right or you do do your job
- 21:45right, drive a car, you don't. Need to, yeah.
- 21:48You know where to go, A to B. You've looked at the map.
- 21:52You know the thing. It's sort of that sort of
- 21:55behavior. Really.
- 21:56Yeah. Have you put the work in?
- 21:58Did you do, you know, it's sort of like put that particular
- 22:06amount of work in just that small amount of work or the
- 22:09larger amount of work to learn something.
- 22:12I've learnt things that I enjoy doing.
- 22:15Prepare yourself, you know, put the work in and and the rest
- 22:19follows with confidence. It's true because yeah, yeah,
- 22:22yeah, it's true. So you launched your skin care
- 22:27company basically from this toilet that was a converted
- 22:32toilet and you had to that. That was the treatment room.
- 22:36Oh, and I loved it And and don't think, don't grate.
- 22:38I didn't think that. Yeah, I was grateful.
- 22:40You know it's. It was the first place.
- 22:42That's where it started. But if you think about even
- 22:45that, even that DAFF thing, yeah.
- 22:48When I was doing my beauty course, which was a good beauty
- 22:51course, it was a really efficient beauty course.
- 22:54And it taught me a lot of things.
- 22:56And I'd got some great teachers. But one day there was something
- 23:00they were teaching me and I was very bored.
- 23:02And there was a blackboard that they were teaching me something.
- 23:06They were teaching me how to write cheque books and stuff
- 23:09like that for finance to do with running your own business.
- 23:12But I was already there really. And I was a little bit bored
- 23:15about it. And I, I sort of used the, the
- 23:18blackboard and I moved these white things around and I moved
- 23:22everything around in my head. And I said, right, I'm going to
- 23:25go mobile beauty therapist, I'm going to leave college, I'm
- 23:29going to get mobile beach therapist, make my own skin
- 23:32care. Then I'm going to go to health
- 23:35clubs. I'm going to go to health clubs
- 23:38and sports centres because the hotels, because those will pay
- 23:43the rent. The rent won't be so much.
- 23:46I can get more done, employ people, plan this, plan that
- 23:50from there. I'm going to be here, then I'm
- 23:52going to be there. And that was about it.
- 23:55Forgot. Everything can I ask while
- 23:57you're doing this? So, so you've got this vision of
- 24:00I want to be here with the health clubs, I want to be doing
- 24:03this, this and that. But whilst you're planning all
- 24:05of this, you're also thinking about the finances, the money,
- 24:09how are. Things.
- 24:09No, I didn't. No I didn't.
- 24:10No, I just literally thought there was the board moving it
- 24:14all around. This is what I want to do now.
- 24:16You should think about finances and things like that, but I
- 24:20didn't. So that day, that day when I
- 24:24arrived at the health club, which amazed can I say who I
- 24:29arrived at the faith at the health club with.
- 24:32So one of my mobile customer, I'd got really, really busy with
- 24:36the mobile and people were on waiting lists and one of the
- 24:41people. Customer.
- 24:41So you mean travelling to the customer?
- 24:43Yeah, travelling to the customer, so mobile beauty
- 24:45therapist, it's a great job to be honest because you get to go
- 24:49into the houses and things like that.
- 24:51It's lovely. And one of the mobile customers
- 24:54that I'd go to that had been waiting for about 3 months was
- 24:59Tracy, Tracy Taylor, which was the wife of Andy Taylor out of
- 25:02Duran Duran. OK, so she'd had to wait three
- 25:05months for me because there was only one of me and yeah, wasn't
- 25:08many hours in the day. Anyway, I started to become
- 25:11friends with her and she said let's join the health club
- 25:15together. So it was with her that I walked
- 25:18in and they said that do you fancy having a treatment room
- 25:23here? So I'd said yes.
- 25:25It ended up being a disabled toilet.
- 25:28But when I was sitting there in that disabled toilet doing the
- 25:30facials and body massage as well, I thought that was on my
- 25:37blackboard. Yeah, and I'm here.
- 25:41All I had to do was think about it and I'm here so.
- 25:45Deborah, that's. What happened then is that
- 25:50achieved itself. I didn't have to do anything, so
- 25:55I thought about it. It achieved itself.
- 25:57What is that? What is that?
- 25:58Is the manifestation? Is it the power of the mind?
- 26:01What? It is, but, but what you've got
- 26:04to do is realize that it's happened.
- 26:07So once you realize it can happen, think about something,
- 26:12it arrives, think about something, it arrives, then you
- 26:17plan, think about something, think about all of the finances
- 26:21around it that arrives. Think about how you feel about
- 26:27it, how you feel. So then, then this was all it's
- 26:30happened to me. I've thought about something.
- 26:34It happened, happened. Because my next question was,
- 26:36how did you feel about it? Literally.
- 26:38Yeah. Well, this is it.
- 26:39It's like amazing, amazing. It's fulfilling what you want
- 26:45and you were happy with the way things.
- 26:46Were, I mean, yeah, we've got to say I'm sitting in a sable
- 26:50toilet. So yeah, that turned into a
- 26:55beauty room. But you're positively.
- 26:57Well, yeah, yeah. Because I'm earning all this
- 27:00money and then they give me another one and then somebody
- 27:03else comes and sees, sees what I do with that hotel.
- 27:06They give me another hotel and I'm sitting there thinking that
- 27:10was on my blackboard. And then I'm passing people
- 27:14these skin care and everything. It's when you start actually
- 27:18changing your thought process, because I think negative thought
- 27:23process only will breed negativity.
- 27:26So please, just don't do it. Don't even think it, don't even
- 27:30bother with it. Just don't go there.
- 27:33Yeah, just forget it. Gosh, OK.
- 27:36And with this situation, was it still, was it on you, everything
- 27:41on you? Or did you stop building out a
- 27:42team somehow or what's? The process, of course, because
- 27:45I trained beauty therapists and occasionally the beauty
- 27:48therapist would say to me, you've given us all that your
- 27:50knowledge. Do you think that's a good idea?
- 27:52You know, we can leave and take all this knowledge.
- 27:55I said no because I like it. I like giving people knowledge
- 27:59because I can gain more knowledge.
- 28:01Can they? I don't know interesting way to.
- 28:07Look at it, yeah. That's how I think.
- 28:09Yeah, not competition whatsoever, but they're working
- 28:13with you. And what you're doing is you're
- 28:14expanding into a business now because it's not, well, it is
- 28:17still a business. It can be just you, but you're
- 28:18now you're scaling at this point.
- 28:21So you're building, you're getting more people, more.
- 28:22Exactly. Training everybody and you're
- 28:24building the South. So every single month I'd train
- 28:27them every month, and they'd get better and better and better.
- 28:31So let's start off at 8:00 in the morning till 10:00 at night.
- 28:36Obviously, I had the experience where those people stole my skin
- 28:40care. Yeah.
- 28:40Terrible. Then I sort of, I'm a little bit
- 28:44psychic. You are?
- 28:46Yeah. And so, oh, gosh, I'm psychic
- 28:50sometimes. So part of my treatment and my
- 28:54healing, you know, so when I do it, I still get a get an idea or
- 28:59a thought process and I think someone's pregnant.
- 29:03So I'll go around all my staff and I goes literally like almost
- 29:06sniffing them. Are you pregnant?
- 29:09No, are you pregnant? Somebody's pregnant, somebody's
- 29:13pregnant. It's like this fever and
- 29:14feeling. Anyway, I thought actually have
- 29:22I had a period, It was me that was pregnant and they, I mean,
- 29:26it's funny. It was funny.
- 29:29It was funny that I knew somebody was pregnant, but I
- 29:31didn't know it was me. Anyway, so had a baby and Ella
- 29:37was born my my first child. And I have actually got another
- 29:43child called Christopher 18 months apart.
- 29:46But Ella was my first born and. How old is Ella now?
- 29:49So she's 28 now. And Christopher's 27, he's going
- 29:54to be 28. There's 18 months of art.
- 29:57So they're very close together, so.
- 29:59But Ella, you do look. Incredibly young.
- 30:02Let me. Just for someone who's got a 28,
- 30:04like literally. Oh, thank you for saying that.
- 30:07But it was 60. I'm 60 in Yeah, in in November
- 30:12the 7th. So.
- 30:13What you can do is it's easy to sell.
- 30:15Your process to go proof is in the pudding.
- 30:17I use my own products. What I value about my products
- 30:23is if, say, if I've sent some products to somebody or
- 30:26somebody's bought some and they come back to me, I can tell
- 30:29whether they're using them and they're not because I can see
- 30:33the look on their face, the the skin looks young, fresh.
- 30:41Yeah, you all know. Yeah.
- 30:42But also I can tell that because you're a you're, you've got this
- 30:45facialist, it's you live this, you live what you do in many.
- 30:50Ways. Oh, I do, yeah.
- 30:50When we sat down, you look at the skin, I'm like.
- 30:53I'm not a get tall. Your skin, your skin looks
- 30:57really great. Yeah.
- 30:58It looks very, very good. Yeah.
- 31:00Thank you very much. That is a compliment I'm going
- 31:03to take for sure, for sure, for sure.
- 31:06So you're building a business and you're scaling and you've
- 31:10got these people and you're training them and that's OK
- 31:12because you want them to learn. And, and that's absolutely fine
- 31:14because you are confident in yourself that you will read,
- 31:17you'll learn anyway. So you're not threatened by by
- 31:20anything in in no negativity. And what's the moment where you
- 31:25thought, well, actually, I mean, at which point did you realize
- 31:29this is actually going to now be a really big thing?
- 31:32Like I'm, you know, what's that moment for you or.
- 31:35Was it? There isn't a moment, No, and
- 31:37it's not gradual. It's not gradual.
- 31:40In the back of my head I'm I'm going to be the next Lord of but
- 31:47alive. That was in the back of my head.
- 31:51There was no two ways about it in that, you know, I knew.
- 31:56I knew what I was going to achieve, the people.
- 32:00Around you, did they know like? No, they didn't.
- 32:02They didn't. And did you?
- 32:03Tell anyone, did they go? Oh, come on.
- 32:05Yeah, we did. No, we, I if you start talking
- 32:09and telling people that you're going to do this, I think you
- 32:13never do, you know, it's a procrastination, I think.
- 32:19I think just don't say a word. Really don't say a word.
- 32:23It's just I know I. Sometimes feel that if I say it,
- 32:28then I, I'm held accountable and I, I like the pressure, but then
- 32:35it's, it's like what you said that then it also comes with the
- 32:38stress or you're sort of whereas if you keep it to yourself and
- 32:42it's your thing, you can go with your pace and you don't feel
- 32:45this like. No, I come on.
- 32:46That's, that's all different. Yeah, that's all different.
- 32:49So, you know, I think, I think giving yourself goals and
- 32:53writing those goals down could be a good thing.
- 32:58They're very, very much a good thing.
- 33:00But sitting around, I'm going to be this, I'm going to be that.
- 33:04Talking about it, you mean? That's never going to.
- 33:06Happen. No, it's never going to happen
- 33:08like going I'm definitely this is it.
- 33:12So if you silently write it down, what you want and what you
- 33:18want to achieve around that, which is goal, plus how you
- 33:24feel, how you're going to feel, that was constantly on my mind.
- 33:30I love goal with how you feel and how you're going to feel.
- 33:33I love that because you're looking after your, you know,
- 33:36your own mental health, you're looking after how you're
- 33:39responding to that success and whether that's right for you.
- 33:42And you've kind of got to take yourself with, don't you on this
- 33:45journey and. Exactly.
- 33:46I just, I love. That I've never thought about it
- 33:48in that. Way.
- 33:49But it's, it's really strange because it is, it's, it's held
- 33:53like there were so many things that happened to me.
- 33:56Having children takes your time away from where your goal is,
- 34:02because when you look at something that you want to
- 34:04achieve, you have to say what do you want to lose to gain that?
- 34:10And obviously not children's happiness, not family happiness
- 34:15is what you want to prepared to lose to get your dream or your
- 34:20goal. So that does take a bit more
- 34:24time. So that's like a bit more when
- 34:26you're single and you've got no kids.
- 34:28So no, dependency is different, yeah.
- 34:31Yeah, so you've, you've mentioned Victoria Beckham,
- 34:36you've you've treated these celebrities.
- 34:37So this is, this is who I have on the on the list of Victoria
- 34:40Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow. I mean these are all mega A list
- 34:45celebrities. It's funny with Gwyneth Paltrow,
- 34:48it's like, because there was all this what happens with me and I
- 34:54don't know why it happens, but it's like the bees and the bee
- 34:59venom and the the everything about it.
- 35:03Then it creates a media storm. It created a media storm around
- 35:08everything. So just so people that don't
- 35:09know, so they won't be aware. So there's just just explain
- 35:13this connection between the BS and your partners.
- 35:16Let's go, because they. Won't know, right.
- 35:18So the whole time that I was working, I was building up my
- 35:25client, my clients, but I was also building up My Portfolio of
- 35:29products. And I reached a stage where my
- 35:34skin and my products probably didn't level out.
- 35:39Like I'd got my Age Defiance. I'd got wonderful hydro
- 35:45cleansing milk toners and polishes that polished little
- 35:50lines away. So I'd got a Polish that
- 35:53polished lines away and it was brilliant.
- 35:56And I sold those products and I had people like Theo Fajitas
- 36:04offering to give me money, OK before his Dragon Den
- 36:09appearance. And I went out several times in
- 36:13several meetings. And he he's he's really clever
- 36:17because he knows what's good. Yeah, even before I knew how
- 36:21good I was. And I won't doubt and say I am
- 36:25good. Yeah, he he.
- 36:27Saw you and his he saw saw saw me and and offered 150,000 and
- 36:33which I needed at the time and I didn't.
- 36:35I didn't say yes to it, but it was Why?
- 36:38Didn't you say? Yes, I didn't.
- 36:39I asked the question to myself and the answer came back no.
- 36:44Literally no thanks to 150,000. Yeah, I need to change my
- 36:49packaging and I needed 150 and he was going to give it me and
- 36:53then it said shall I do it? No.
- 36:59That's a moment. There's lots of moments.
- 37:02There's such a moment. There's so many moments like
- 37:04that. Goodness me, I think our bodies
- 37:08know what's right for us. I think our future is mapped
- 37:11out. Gosh.
- 37:14I don't. I don't doubt that my future was
- 37:16mapped out well. I had the very first guest that
- 37:22I, that I got on the show was Mark Wright who won The
- 37:25Apprentice and he's now living in Australia in a beautiful
- 37:30house by the lake. And he said to me, you know,
- 37:35there's a reason why I'm here. And the reason is because I
- 37:39engineered my life in this way to have it exactly like it is
- 37:44now. And I really love the term that
- 37:46he engineered his life because he made it, you know, he knew
- 37:49exactly that he wanted to live by a lake.
- 37:50He wanted to have the sort of wife, kid, the situation, this
- 37:54kind of business and the journey was, you know, a bit crazy to
- 37:58get there, but he he, that's the term that he used.
- 38:00Do you see it in a? Way I do, I do see it.
- 38:03I do see it there, but there is an extra.
- 38:05Bit as well. An extra bit.
- 38:06Yeah, I. Thought I do think so there is
- 38:09an engineering and you can engineer, you know you, you can
- 38:15engineer things and you can visualize them.
- 38:20But also, I do think you have to say to yourself, trust, trust in
- 38:24a hire thing or something knows what's better for you.
- 38:29If it doesn't go that right way, just go.
- 38:33Yeah, OK, Let the direction go where it should do and whoever's
- 38:40pushing it. And it's it's really good
- 38:42because it gives you a rest. It gives you a rest from all
- 38:46this negativity. There is a lot more.
- 38:49I mean, in this podcast, I can't tell you, but I have researched
- 38:53why it works and I do understand it.
- 38:57So there is a lot more to it. And the brain is a massive thing
- 39:03that that does things for us. But I don't know the connection
- 39:07between. I really do feel that I was
- 39:12supposed to be where I am. Wow.
- 39:15And you feel it. You feel it deeply.
- 39:17You feel it deeply. OK, let's go back to the to
- 39:21break it down into its finest form, which is this bee venom
- 39:25inside the product did cause a big stir.
- 39:29Yeah, and you see, why is the connection, what's going back to
- 39:33the the, the, the, the, the power of something?
- 39:36If you think about it, beauty therapist in treatment rooms did
- 39:43good. I did OK, earned quite a bit of
- 39:45money, put all my money into making a few products.
- 39:49Sounds all very good. Then obviously I then struggled.
- 39:58I sold to department stores. I thought, this is going to be
- 40:01it, this is going to be it, this is going to be it.
- 40:04Struggle, struggle, struggle. Money hand over fist in a
- 40:09department store, there's a lot of money that it costs to run.
- 40:13Products in a department store. There's also a lot of politics.
- 40:18There's also a lot of everything, but basically I'm
- 40:23there getting phone calls from Victoria Beckham as I'm at the
- 40:27department store floor. Can't beat that, really.
- 40:30No, you can't. You know, it's got but the
- 40:32success was not was not there totally because it's like next
- 40:39month we need to make sure we get this payment because I've
- 40:42got to pay my staff. Yeah, the pressures.
- 40:45Yeah, the pressures there. How are you?
- 40:46Coping with the stress and the thing I'm I have to pay the
- 40:48bills and I have to do this now. Because you're a creative.
- 40:51Person. Just work harder, just work
- 40:53harder and, and you know, I'd got two kids and then I'd be at
- 40:58home. Luckily I'd got a mum that
- 41:00looked after them. I didn't have a nanny but put a
- 41:04lot of pressure on my husband to be honest.
- 41:06You know, he used to take the brunt.
- 41:09He'd got a business. It's a big pressure for him.
- 41:12I appreciate him very much. But so all of these things
- 41:17happen. Then we were the top selling
- 41:22brand in this department store. And then you get all the
- 41:25emotions of all the people in the department store.
- 41:28There was Estee Lauder and some of the other people, Clarin's,
- 41:33Estee Lauder, Dior. We were beating all of those in
- 41:37this department store and our products are all organic bases,
- 41:46organic ingredients and really great quality and work and do
- 41:51their job. They're not made in a lab.
- 41:53They were they were made by me. And so basically they are super
- 41:58amazing and people love them. So this one day they goes like,
- 42:09we're not paying you this month, so I don't know how to pay the
- 42:13wages. Well, we've got a cash flow
- 42:16issue, you know, department store.
- 42:18Sorry I can't stay here if you don't pay my wages.
- 42:25Well, you know where you know where the door is.
- 42:28Literally. So the door was there, so OK,
- 42:32fair enough. Brutal.
- 42:36So then I took all the cash that I'd got, opened a salon, took
- 42:41all the staff there, and I'd got the places and department
- 42:47stores. And then it's like, Oh my God,
- 42:50what? What happens now?
- 42:52What's going to happen now? And then I get the phone call
- 42:57from the palace. The palace.
- 43:01So basically it's like almost there was a gap ready for the
- 43:07palace because I hadn't got the time to do the palace if I'd got
- 43:12the department stores because I was on on the counters and
- 43:17checking everything. So then I go off the palace
- 43:20since so many years later, I'm still doing the palace.
- 43:22I look at them, there's worn lines on my face.
- 43:26I'm doing a treatment on Camilla Parker Bowles and I look in one
- 43:29of her beautiful mirrors. Can't say anything about the
- 43:32interior and the palace, not allowed to.
- 43:34But there was a beautiful mirror there.
- 43:36And I thought, my, my God, yeah. I'm not frowning.
- 43:41And I look like I've got I've got lines I don't want.
- 43:46I don't want Botox. What can do?
- 43:48That night I go go home and I go, right?
- 43:54I did this thing. I do this thing.
- 43:57You can laugh at me if you want. So you take a drink.
- 44:00Yeah. You look at the corner of the
- 44:02room and you go right, think about what you want, drink it,
- 44:12put the glass down. Next morning, you pick up the
- 44:15glass. It's coffee and the answer comes
- 44:23to you and the answer came to me.
- 44:27Bee venom and. Gosh.
- 44:30How that answer came to me? Take a trigger.
- 44:33Who knows? Who knows how that answer came
- 44:37to me? Whether it was because my my
- 44:39sister kept bees, I will never know.
- 44:43So whether that had gone in my head and that had sort of
- 44:48whether the bees themselves, you think about something that's
- 44:52going to plump something out, but basically that product made
- 44:57the skin younger. And obviously my first customer
- 45:01was Camilla Parker Bowles then, and her skin was getting
- 45:05younger. There was other people that I
- 45:08was doing and their skin was getting younger using bee venom
- 45:13inner cream that I'd made with honey and I called it the Bee
- 45:19Venom mask. The honey was quite sticky so it
- 45:22had to be a mask. It's not a mask now and it's an
- 45:24incredible anti ageing product. So I'm looking at you and I'm
- 45:30using my my features, but I'm not over stimulating them.
- 45:37So that's why, yeah, that's why it's the bee venom.
- 45:42So what it does is it makes you think you've had Botox or sorry,
- 45:47not Botox injectables basically, yeah, yeah.
- 45:50And so it softens it all and then it sends all the helpers
- 45:53and all the anti ageing and makes the skin younger.
- 45:57So but it makes it tighter everywhere.
- 45:59So it's really good, releases collagen, elastin and
- 46:03everything. The honey heals.
- 46:06It's fresh honey, but I put it in butters spoonsful of honey,
- 46:11real honey. It's not like a honey extract or
- 46:13anything. It's like a spoonful of honey.
- 46:16Wow, you know, literally and the bee venom.
- 46:21So this I was doing this treatment, the honey, the
- 46:26products were being loved by people, the bee venom, but the
- 46:30client's skin was getting younger, It was getting less
- 46:34aggressive, like people with redness and their their sore
- 46:39skin. But like I'd put something on
- 46:42somebody's face and they'd be red and then all the little
- 46:45lines would come down and then the whole neck would go smooth
- 46:50and you'd see it all in front of my eyes.
- 46:52Then it's how much bee venom to put in.
- 46:57Could people have an allergic reaction?
- 46:59So the abitoxin was born, the patent was born, so to make sure
- 47:03no allergic reactions. So it's a way I develop my
- 47:07correctness. Me, it's very scientific, but.
- 47:10Very, very so. Working and it's and then the
- 47:14the global press went crazy for this stuff, didn't they?
- 47:16You. Oh gosh, it just exploded,
- 47:18right? It did, but it didn't.
- 47:21So the worst time in my life, yes, when everything in my life
- 47:26was going completely terrible. I'd worked too hard.
- 47:30I probably didn't put enough effort into my family and to my
- 47:34husband and we had a break. OK.
- 47:38And it was my fault, right? Yet.
- 47:41By break, you broke up. The marriage broke up.
- 47:45The marriage broke up because because of me, I was working too
- 47:50hard. I was, you know, it wasn't him,
- 47:54it was me. So the marriage broke up and I
- 47:57said, you know, I was like, So what am I doing?
- 48:00I'm going to divorce courts and things like that.
- 48:03And you know, I'm not going to, you know, I'm not going to be,
- 48:07you know, so then I get a phone call.
- 48:11Worst time in my life. And it's like you're in the
- 48:16press, which mean I'm in the press.
- 48:18It was the palace, you're in the press.
- 48:22I never said anything. I never told either my mum that
- 48:25I was doing the treatments on royalty.
- 48:28I couldn't. I wasn't allowed to.
- 48:31Signed an NDAI wasn't allowed to.
- 48:33So basically it's like, yeah, you're in the press.
- 48:37So be careful. Said who said?
- 48:40I said, but we we said they phoned up and the palace never
- 48:44lies. That's it.
- 48:45That was the words they said. If I get into trouble for saying
- 48:48that, I'll get into trouble. But so I'm then driving along
- 48:53and I can't speak to any press. So then Daily Mail phones up and
- 48:59said, look, we know you're in the press.
- 49:02We don't want to talk about Camilla parka bowls, but we do
- 49:06want to talk about is why are these bees harmed by your
- 49:09product? That's what they wanted to talk
- 49:12about. I said, well, the bees aren't
- 49:14harmed. Yeah, they that you're milking
- 49:16the bees, the Stinger pay in a glass, the stamen doesn't come
- 49:19out. They're fine and no one.
- 49:22Dies in the. Person, no one dies.
- 49:24And not only that, I think it's really good that bees are looked
- 49:26after and every pot of cream we give some money to some bees.
- 49:32So basically that's it. That one in the press with a big
- 49:35picture of Camilla. And your sister has bees, was
- 49:37it? And my sister, so there was a
- 49:39picture of Camilla and a picture of the bees and I hadn't said
- 49:43anything and they took everything in and said it all.
- 49:46And so I was like oh what the heck.
- 49:47Anyway, it went all over the world and I became a multi
- 49:53millionaire overnight. Oh my goodness.
- 49:57I was like, there was phone, I hadn't got many staff.
- 50:01I'd got a phone in this ear, a phone in that ear.
- 50:04I'd got 2 phones, one to phone out of, one to answer the call
- 50:07and say sorry, can't speak to you just yet.
- 50:09Can I put the phone down? Yes.
- 50:11And this was on trains everywhere.
- 50:14There just wasn't enough. Our staff were hiding.
- 50:17I was thinking how do you scale up at that level?
- 50:20Like what do you even? Do our staff were like hiding
- 50:23piece of paper that people wanted the product all over the
- 50:25world. They were hiding it under under
- 50:28other things. The money was flowing in.
- 50:30It was coming through through the website.
- 50:32There was, you know, it was just incredible, incredible.
- 50:35And you know, everything that I'd thought about was going to
- 50:38happen was happening to me. How did I feel?
- 50:42Yeah, and your marriage was breaking up and.
- 50:44All I wanted was my marriage back.
- 50:46I didn't want that. I didn't.
- 50:48I wanted my marriage back, but obviously I didn't get it back
- 50:52straight away. But I did get it back.
- 50:57Eventually, yeah. OK, so in the most crazy moment
- 51:02when all this is kicking off, your marriage is gone.
- 51:04You're trying to get it back, you're not getting it back, so
- 51:07you're not feeling happy at that point.
- 51:11No, I, I wasn't feeling happy. But but, but, but money was
- 51:15flowing in. I was flying all over the world
- 51:19to everywhere. And, you know, I I got off a
- 51:24plane in Taiwan to the whole of Taiwan, actually there all the
- 51:35film crew flashing and everything and they've got
- 51:37heaven written on there. The name of the brand.
- 51:40Yeah, the name of the brand on their forehead.
- 51:43I've never seen that that like they write it on their faces in
- 51:47and it was like and there was flowers and this that and the
- 51:51other and all of this money was coming in and it's just amazing
- 51:57really that what you want out of life is actually base things a
- 52:01lot of the time. You did that whole journey to
- 52:05come back to this and. How did?
- 52:07You how did you repair this relationship?
- 52:11I trusted that it would work. I kept on saying I did go to
- 52:16counsellors and this counsellor said to me, I said look, I'm
- 52:19going to be back with my husband.
- 52:21And they said, look, there's absolutely no way you're going
- 52:25to be back with your husband. He won't want you, right?
- 52:28He just won't want you. Lots of things won't go into it,
- 52:32but there's no way you'll want you anyway.
- 52:34I said believe you me, I'm going to be back with him.
- 52:38OK. Day before we were going to get
- 52:41finally divorced, he goes. Do you want to try again?
- 52:44He goes yes please, and we're back to you.
- 52:47I'm very happy and I love my husband very much.
- 52:50I always did. So good.
- 52:52Yeah, and he's an amazing person.
- 52:54I I don't think I would be here now today if it wasn't Pete.
- 52:59Well, you found your way back to each other.
- 53:00That's a lovely love story. I love that.
- 53:02That worked. I love that.
- 53:04I mean, no one forces two people to be together.
- 53:06So if you want to be together, you're going to be together.
- 53:09And that's just magnets. You came back to each other and
- 53:12I love that. I love that.
- 53:15I'm going to take a look now. It's at you, the entrepreneur,
- 53:19you know, behind the business, the personality type, you know
- 53:22who you are behind this sort of, you know, the entrepreneurial
- 53:26side. And I know that you've had these
- 53:28personal struggles anyway, but do you think that your
- 53:33personality type fits with that of what an expectation is of an
- 53:38entrepreneur? No, no, no, not at all.
- 53:43No, because I'm too easy going. Yeah, I am entrepreneurial as
- 53:50such, but I think as ACEO of a big company, like I, I have a
- 53:56big company and I don't think my personality necessarily suits
- 54:04what people think that narrative should be like.
- 54:07We've got wheels on my on on the chairs and I sit on the chairs
- 54:11and I wheel myself round to sit by somebody's desk.
- 54:14I don't get up and walk. And my daughter who works for me
- 54:17now, she goes mum, that's not professional.
- 54:19I said I don't care, that's me, you know, that is me.
- 54:23It's like the staff will say, I said you're looking a bit tired.
- 54:27Do you think you ought to go home now?
- 54:28You're looking at you've worked really hard this week.
- 54:31Get off home. My daughter goes, what do you
- 54:35want about mom? Right.
- 54:37Look, it's really sunny outside. Let's go home.
- 54:41Come on, let's go home. Everything will be here
- 54:44tomorrow. Let's go home.
- 54:45I'm like that. And I do do that.
- 54:48And it's not very often that I'm the big boss.
- 54:51My daughter is now the big boss. To be honest, she's the so I
- 54:55don't fit the scenario. I don't fit the mould now.
- 54:59But you probably do. In a way you probably do because
- 55:02you need that big personality, the vision, the energy, the the
- 55:08risk taking you, you know, yes, we'll be OK.
- 55:11And when everything goes all crazy, you just let it be.
- 55:14Let's try again. How you have all that?
- 55:16Oh, you're like me. That's exactly what I think.
- 55:19What you just said is exactly what I think, because I always
- 55:22think if somebody scratches my car or I, you know, it's going
- 55:25to be all right, doesn't matter something fixing.
- 55:28But and that's the same in all, all of the things.
- 55:32The thing I get bothered about is emotionally if I've probably
- 55:37upset somebody or something like that.
- 55:39Yeah. So that's the only thing.
- 55:41Oh, right. So what?
- 55:44Why is that, do you think? What?
- 55:46What is that? I just wouldn't want to upset
- 55:49anybody. You don't want to hurt people's
- 55:51feelings. So you're aware of what
- 55:52someone's feeling and thinking all the time.
- 55:54Are you trying to manage their feelings?
- 55:55Is that? Well, I don't know.
- 55:57I don't know. That's probably another story
- 55:59for another day, I reckon. Yeah, no, that's interesting.
- 56:02That's interesting. That would almost be the thing.
- 56:05Well, that's the thing that you wouldn't like.
- 56:06That's your if we say fear, it's just something that would make
- 56:09you uncomfortable. Yeah, it does, yeah.
- 56:12OK, that's, you know, but it just speaks your sensitive side,
- 56:16you know, because you consider yourself a healer.
- 56:18That's what you do. That's how you that's what
- 56:21that's the value that you feel you're providing to the world.
- 56:24So this would be the opposite. Oh, amazing.
- 56:27Yeah, I never thought about it like that.
- 56:31Just think and do you think that you're as an entrepreneur, this
- 56:35business side and personality, do you think that your success
- 56:40has largely come from, is it your, your resilience, your
- 56:45ideas or is it something else, the deeper thing, what is it?
- 56:49Resilience is a good word. I ideas are obviously another
- 56:53word. Ideas do create things, but I do
- 56:57think if you've got an idea and you don't follow it through,
- 56:59you're never going to get anywhere.
- 57:02So resilience is probably important, one of the important
- 57:06factors because going back to my husband years ago when I was
- 57:12looking for a new, new salon, we'd go to this place and it was
- 57:19a very good salon. And he said I think this would
- 57:20be a good salon for you. And I looked and I thought this
- 57:24might be a good salon but I can't run my multi £1,000,000
- 57:29business empire from here so I need another one.
- 57:32And I didn't mention it to him. And so that is resilience.
- 57:38And when things don't turn out right, think, OK, just try
- 57:43again. I think that's resilience.
- 57:46And I definitely do know that if I'd never had that, I wouldn't
- 57:49have had anything. OK, OK.
- 57:52But just going back to something that you said earlier in the
- 57:54podcast, you, you kind of knew, didn't you, that you would be
- 58:01where you are. You knew you.
- 58:03Just knew from. Don't even know how to explain
- 58:05it, but you just knew. Yeah.
- 58:07You had a vision. Yeah.
- 58:10Gosh, so you were just stepping into something that you this
- 58:14little instinct. What is it?
- 58:16What is that thing? A little.
- 58:17Belief in. Yourself.
- 58:18What is it? I don't know really, but I know.
- 58:21I know the things that I want, but I also know it too and it's
- 58:28like the factory we've got now. I was happy with the factory
- 58:34we've got. We rented a factory.
- 58:36It was a little bit old and I was fine and we've got loads and
- 58:38loads of money in the bank and we were doing really well.
- 58:44And my daughter come along, she says I want, I don't like this
- 58:47factory, it's old, it's not good enough.
- 58:50OK. So I went to look for a new
- 58:51factory and my husband actually said this is a good place.
- 58:58And it was great. And I could see it like it's
- 59:02shone out of the papers. So it's sort of shown.
- 59:06So you can feel when things are right, so you can feel it.
- 59:10It's almost shining out. So I go, OK, and then I go to
- 59:14the people and there was nothing.
- 59:16It was expensive. You know, there's nothing in me
- 59:19that thought I couldn't do it. So I go, OK, I'll have that
- 59:22factory. And then I said to my daughter,
- 59:27I said, look, you wanted the factory, here's the keys.
- 59:29You do it. So it was an empty shell.
- 59:31She had to do it and create it. And she created it very
- 59:34beautifully. And you'll see my factory.
- 59:36It's, it's really pretty, really gorgeous.
- 59:41And she achieved that. So when I went into the
- 59:43boardroom, something that I'd thought about at 28 years old,
- 59:49I'd thought I'll have a factory or premises or offices and I'll
- 59:58be able to do treatments and they'll call me out from the
- 1:00:01boardroom and there'll be windows there.
- 1:00:03And there, of course, when I walked into our boardroom, that
- 1:00:07was finished. She'd created what I'd created
- 1:00:11in my mind. And so this is where that is,
- 1:00:15you know, it's like you've got to recognize the success of your
- 1:00:20thoughts, not just the success of you.
- 1:00:22And you showed me that because we did the pre podcast call and
- 1:00:25you showed me the room. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:00:28And you do have a very nice factory, but yeah, that that's,
- 1:00:31it just shows you, there's something that that we can't
- 1:00:33explain, but you do think about these things and it does create
- 1:00:38some sort of connection there and it helps you or actually
- 1:00:43makes things happen for you. Exactly.
- 1:00:45That's why negativities, that's why you really just despise the.
- 1:00:49Negativity is not in any way shape or form, but it's like
- 1:00:53strange how things can happen with me.
- 1:00:57I mean, I've got when I I, when I sort of sort of buy any items
- 1:01:05myself that and I care about the items and I don't overbuy things
- 1:01:13because it's something in the way I am.
- 1:01:16So I don't necessarily need too much money as such as a person.
- 1:01:24So I'm not thinking about work or to buy things or to own money
- 1:01:30or have money or things like that.
- 1:01:32But when I create new products, that's an easy thing to do and
- 1:01:38it's expensive to create a new product.
- 1:01:41Of. Course, yeah.
- 1:01:42So when I create a new product, like I create a new product for
- 1:01:45a need in for people. So one of my needs were we used
- 1:01:50to do exhibitions and people used to get tired at the
- 1:01:53exhibitions. They'd walk up to the counter
- 1:01:55and they'd be shattered. And so I thought if they weren't
- 1:01:58tired, they'd talk better. And so I made this drink with
- 1:02:02collagen and vitamin C to give them a boost and they kept on
- 1:02:09coming back for the drink. And so I'd sell to them every
- 1:02:12time and they'd come back for the drink.
- 1:02:14And I thought if I could put this into a dropper container,
- 1:02:18they'd absolutely love it, give them a boost.
- 1:02:21And I did later on. So and I did it just for no real
- 1:02:28apparent reason, but I'd plan to do this.
- 1:02:31And they're little dropper bottles, which obviously could
- 1:02:34show a picture of that little dropper bottles.
- 1:02:36Put the dropper in and it gives you a real big boost, but it
- 1:02:40grew people's hair. It makes their skin look younger
- 1:02:43and gave them like no pains in their joints and everything.
- 1:02:47And it works better than anything on the market.
- 1:02:51And the reason it works better than anything on the market, it
- 1:02:54doesn't go through the liver. So it actually goes straight
- 1:02:58into the system. So within a couple of days
- 1:03:01absorbed straight away and they don't have to use and and so
- 1:03:05it's been the best selling product of my business.
- 1:03:09Better than the bee venom now. No way.
- 1:03:12Exactly. So it's incredible and it's
- 1:03:15obviously got the royal Crest. Yeah, because you've basically
- 1:03:21so just for the viewers that that don't know, you've got the
- 1:03:24royal stamp of approval on your product.
- 1:03:25So they are the real deal and they've done extremely well and
- 1:03:30you've got these natural ingredients in them and
- 1:03:33everything that you've done you do for to resolve this need.
- 1:03:37And and if possible, if there's a a natural alternative to
- 1:03:41wrinkling and dry skin and all that, you're gonna, you're gonna
- 1:03:45look to find that. Exactly.
- 1:03:47In whatever way. But but I didn't imagine that
- 1:03:51the collagen drops would be so good.
- 1:03:55Yeah, I didn't imagine that they'd be so, so big because
- 1:03:59they they were just an additional thing that could help
- 1:04:05make the skin younger. But what I didn't realise is
- 1:04:08people with alopecia, people that have a thing called a
- 1:04:13flusia hair where the hair drops out because through dieting, you
- 1:04:18know, people that are on the drugs.
- 1:04:20Yeah, Zimpic. Zimpic and that they're losing
- 1:04:23their hair drastically. People that took had injections
- 1:04:29in COVID or COVID, they lost their hair.
- 1:04:33So there's a big need. With the regrowth of hair nerve
- 1:04:36fat really. So my hair is my hair.
- 1:04:41This is my hair. So it's it's thick.
- 1:04:44It's not hair extensions. You just you just have a little
- 1:04:47tiny bit every every morning and it's amazing.
- 1:04:51And men with no hair, half hair. Men, we have a we have a male
- 1:04:57audience as well watching us and men don't they don't seem to
- 1:05:01majority care that much about their skin or their hair you.
- 1:05:06Know, I just think men care about their skin, but they don't
- 1:05:09know what they don't. Know what to do?
- 1:05:10So what? What very basic?
- 1:05:12What should they do? Well, a lot of men buy their
- 1:05:16products for their wives or their girlfriends.
- 1:05:19My Heaven skin Care products and they use them and they look
- 1:05:22younger. We do have a men's range of
- 1:05:25products and but we have men's, women's range and particularly
- 1:05:31men's range because men's skin and women's skin is different
- 1:05:35and have made a range for. Men's skin, How is it different?
- 1:05:38Thicker. It's thicker, so the molecules
- 1:05:41actually need to be smaller to go through the skin tissue,
- 1:05:46because the skin's too. So they literally need to be
- 1:05:49using a product for men. It is a good idea.
- 1:05:53So I've got the, I've got them. I've got like the age defiance
- 1:05:57works for both men and women. The bee venom works for both men
- 1:06:01and women. OK.
- 1:06:02And then the collagen jobs they can also, if they've got hair
- 1:06:04loss, they can also take. That yeah, but they drink it.
- 1:06:06They drink it and the hair grows with.
- 1:06:10No, it's a shot. Yes, you can put it in coffee.
- 1:06:12In fact, a coffee company has asked me to do it.
- 1:06:15But when you put it in coffee, the coffee gives you a boost and
- 1:06:20the collagen gives you a boost to.
- 1:06:21Do that. You should do that.
- 1:06:24I would have that because you know, everyone's most people
- 1:06:27have a routine with this coffee thing.
- 1:06:29You have your coffee in the morning.
- 1:06:30It's just it there already. You don't have to change you.
- 1:06:32Can't have milk. If you put milk in with the
- 1:06:37drops, then that takes longer. It takes three months.
- 1:06:41These sachets that are viscous and chewy or whatever, or
- 1:06:47powder, they, they, they work with time.
- 1:06:51They work three to six months. I don't like things that take
- 1:06:56three to six months to work because I can't really quantify
- 1:07:00that. I don't even know whether that
- 1:07:01would work. If I'm buying something, I've
- 1:07:04got to wait six months for something to work.
- 1:07:06I'm I'm not too impressed to lose your patience.
- 1:07:09I might lose my patience. I might stop it.
- 1:07:11I might have spent all my money and then get 6 months and then
- 1:07:14it would not work. So I like things that work in a
- 1:07:17couple of days. Slight change of course, women
- 1:07:21in business. Do you think women in business
- 1:07:23are treated a bit differently? Do you have what are your views
- 1:07:26on that? I know it's a big topic for many
- 1:07:27and we do have also female viewers.
- 1:07:31They tend to be younger. I would say are female viewers,
- 1:07:33but what do you do you feel that there's a difference men and
- 1:07:36women in business how you're. Right now I've achieved.
- 1:07:40Yes. So I am an achiever.
- 1:07:44So once you've achieved or you've got a grounding, you
- 1:07:47don't get men as much saying, you know, questioning.
- 1:07:53But when I hadn't achieved and I wanted to change my packaging, I
- 1:07:59phoned up a company. It was Roma Glass and they
- 1:08:03wouldn't supply me because I was a woman.
- 1:08:06So how did you know that? My boyfriend at the time, which
- 1:08:10became my husband, I said, will you phone up and ask, ask for an
- 1:08:14account? And they gave it A and they
- 1:08:17wouldn't give me one. And I bought such a lot from
- 1:08:20Roma Glass. Oh, that's in the end.
- 1:08:24That's yeah. So yes, I, I don't know, I would
- 1:08:29love to know from your podcast viewers whether anybody's having
- 1:08:35problems now. I'm hoping the the the men and
- 1:08:39women divide is not as bad as it was in my time.
- 1:08:43Yeah, I mean, from my perspective, I think it is
- 1:08:47getting better now, but I definitely, I mean I originally
- 1:08:50started in a in AIT field in computers and technology.
- 1:08:54And when I went into my first job as a consultant, it was just
- 1:08:58the sea of males, you know, like 3 females in the entire office,
- 1:09:02everyone male. And I worked in this field.
- 1:09:05So it was very dominate, male dominated.
- 1:09:07But when I actually saw my friends, my South African
- 1:09:10friends, they were like, well, what are you doing now?
- 1:09:12You know, after school and whatever.
- 1:09:13And I said, Oh well, I'm in ITI do bidding systems
- 1:09:15implementations. And then like, what do you mean?
- 1:09:17What's that? You know, you have computers,
- 1:09:19you know, it's digital things. And so you don't look at all
- 1:09:22like a person that would know about that.
- 1:09:24You don't. It's just the way, you know,
- 1:09:26because probably I don't know what the expectation is for me
- 1:09:28to do what like what would what would they like me to do?
- 1:09:30What would sort of person would I look like for them?
- 1:09:32But I thought, why is why would you say that?
- 1:09:35Why would it? There was a little bit of that
- 1:09:38and you sort of think, well, how would you know anything to do
- 1:09:41with that? But actually, you know, I was, I
- 1:09:43was OK at it. I did it.
- 1:09:45So that must have been all right.
- 1:09:48But I've had a few things like that.
- 1:09:50We sort of think you have to fight harder.
- 1:09:52But I do feel like if you have that sort of victim mentality,
- 1:09:56that's not going to help, you know, when you think, oh, I'm so
- 1:09:58disadvantaged, poor me. And you go around and almost
- 1:10:01like I was playing that card too much.
- 1:10:03It's not going to do anyone any favours.
- 1:10:04No, I don't. Want them?
- 1:10:05So I'm not really for that. I don't really like that crack
- 1:10:08on, you know, Come on. Well, I mean, that was the one
- 1:10:11occasion, though it was difficult for.
- 1:10:13Me, but I don't have it much. Now I probably do think
- 1:10:19sometimes women, but when I was younger I was I was a bit more
- 1:10:23of a bit of a looker. Yeah, and I probably did I
- 1:10:28probably did sort of go come on left.
- 1:10:31Yeah, You know, so I there is two ways of looking at us.
- 1:10:36I'd say 100% you know, couldn't just you know, so there there
- 1:10:41probably was there is force and against isn't that. 100%, 100%.
- 1:10:47I mean, even, you know, like, I mean, I don't know, but
- 1:10:51everyone's got their own types. But for sure it will help if
- 1:10:54you're, you know, someone's type or whatever for them to even to
- 1:10:56follow on the podcast and whatever.
- 1:10:58There's, there's things like that too, which you're not going
- 1:11:00to say to someone. All you know, you, you're only
- 1:11:02allowed to follow the podcast if you believe every word I say and
- 1:11:05not, you know, you've got to be human with us.
- 1:11:07And I think it's sometimes we get a bit too obsessed with
- 1:11:11that. I think, yeah, I think it, you
- 1:11:14know, there is, there is things that happened before and I don't
- 1:11:18know whether they would happen now.
- 1:11:23And when they do, I'll come back and tell you.
- 1:11:25Yes, yeah, we'll have another. We'll have another session.
- 1:11:28So what's next for you? What?
- 1:11:29What's the next big thing? Or is it going to come to you,
- 1:11:32you know, and you're not sure or.
- 1:11:35I love, I've got loads and loads of beautiful product, product
- 1:11:42ranges. I mean, we've spoken about age,
- 1:11:44defiance, spoken about the B that I'm making the skin younger
- 1:11:47and the collagen drops, they are the three big ones.
- 1:11:51But I've got another one which is which we've just launched and
- 1:11:59it's about light really. You know this light's very bad
- 1:12:02for our skin. Yeah, it.
- 1:12:04Is yeah, and it breaks down our collagen, so I've got.
- 1:12:08Aging me. It ages you, it ages you.
- 1:12:11So I've got a product called prison Protection, and you put
- 1:12:15the moisturizer on the skin and then it makes that light make
- 1:12:21you younger by releasing peptides.
- 1:12:24So you sit here and just get younger.
- 1:12:26Give it to me. And if you go in sunlight, it
- 1:12:29makes you younger. Awesome.
- 1:12:31It's got a factor 50 and protects your skin.
- 1:12:34But mainly it makes the skin make you younger.
- 1:12:37And that is a new thing because I love inventing new products.
- 1:12:42And on that positive note that we can age and reverse, thank
- 1:12:47you so much for joining us. And I'd love, thank you.
- 1:12:50Thank you SO. Very interesting.
- 1:12:52Thank you. Thank you.
