- 0:00Happy Thursday morning to everybody and we are here.
- 0:05I am so excited. I have goosebumps.
- 0:07My buddy John Scotone is working the camera.
- 0:11I got to include him in this soap.
- 0:13This is coffee with Kenny and there's going to be a lot more
- 0:15afterwards. This is Max Maximus.
- 0:19It's not Max Verstappen, but hold on, hold on.
- 0:24OK, John, we are here in Nurburgering.
- 0:27What do you think, my friend? It's incredible.
- 0:30We are going to drive the most famous racetrack in the world.
- 0:33Yeah, well, thank you for working the camera.
- 0:35We're going to talk to Maximus. All right, here we go.
- 0:39You turn it around. OK.
- 0:41Maximus. He he doesn't know me, and this
- 0:44is wonderful. I came in here and I said we
- 0:47want to rent a car. And I said my name is Kenny
- 0:50Wallace. I'm from the United States.
- 0:53And he didn't give a crap. He's like OK, so it's going to
- 0:58be about $2500 in American money and we're going to make 6 slaps.
- 1:05We're going to have an instructor with us.
- 1:07He's going to be in the passenger seat.
- 1:11Tell me what I can expect with this experience.
- 1:15Well guys, speak up. We don't handle microphones.
- 1:19We don't handle microphones all right.
- 1:20What you can expect a lot of locals, lot of traffic, but also
- 1:25lots of lots of funny things, which means that it's the
- 1:28longest track in the world, hey. How, how?
- 1:31How many miles is the race track?
- 1:3513 point something. OK, I watched a video we're just
- 1:41going to have fun. So I watched the video, looked
- 1:44like a Daytona prototype car was run 240 mile hour and he went
- 1:48around here in 5 minutes 11 seconds.
- 1:51Is that an old video? It's a very old.
- 1:54Video What's. The truck, it's a Porsche.
- 1:56That's a. Porsche that That car was a
- 1:57Porsche. Badass.
- 1:59It was the 919 from 2019 or something. 2019.
- 2:03It was from the WEC series, so the World Endurance
- 2:06Championship. But Porsche said like, Nah, we
- 2:09can. Do better.
- 2:10Can we turn that down? Yeah, we got to.
- 2:11We got to make sure we get this right.
- 2:13Hey, fun man, I said, Do you speak English?
- 2:16He said. What do you say, everybody?
- 2:18I don't speak German. OK, so what's the track record
- 2:22now? It's still 5 minutes and 14
- 2:25seconds, OK, 14 because nobody else tried to to come close to
- 2:30that. And why is that?
- 2:32Because that car that did that lap could go faster.
- 2:36The driver couldn't. My God, 240 miles an hour,
- 2:39right? I mean, I've raced, I've raced
- 2:42all over, you know, of course, NASCAR, I, I run Suzuka Circuit,
- 2:46Japan, Motigi, you know, the Sergeant Jacques Belneau, Dana
- 2:54Hermano Rodriguez. But for me, for us Americans,
- 2:59this, I feel like this is the most famous Rd. course in all
- 3:03the world. What is it in your eyes since
- 3:05you live here? The same.
- 3:08It is the most famous. I came from the Netherlands.
- 3:10Oh, you're from Netherlands? No.
- 3:13OK, very cool. Max, I'm from the Netherlands,
- 3:16but almost no I came from the Netherlands when I was 18.
- 3:20I got my driver license. First thing I did come to this
- 3:23magical place because it's only a 3 1/2 hour drive.
- 3:26Very cool. Did too many laps and decided,
- 3:30men, let's live here and work here and do more laps.
- 3:35So yeah, I now live 10 minutes away.
- 3:38That's awesome. The moment that the track is
- 3:40open and we don't have customers, then we go out for
- 3:44laps. Real OK, You love racing like we
- 3:48love racing probably. Do you ever, have you ever heard
- 3:51of or you ever, ever watch NASCAR?
- 3:53One race. One race?
- 3:55Yeah. Do you like Formula One?
- 3:57No, not anymore. OK.
- 3:59That's the big controversy. So from what I've understand is
- 4:02all the manufacturers over here in Europe, they want to make 50%
- 4:07combustion, 50% battery and now that it it tell me if I've said
- 4:11this wrong. Now they brought that to the
- 4:14Formula One cars. Is that right?
- 4:16So that was a thing like in general here we use hybrid
- 4:20systems more and more because of the emissions.
- 4:23At least that's what the government wants us to use.
- 4:28Yeah. And with that reason, also
- 4:30Formula One went to in that direction.
- 4:35Yeah, we don't like it. Yeah, because you you can't go
- 4:39as fast as you want to go. No, it's always restricted to
- 4:42what the battery can do. Yeah, you come off the corner, a
- 4:45lot of torque, get halfway down the straightaway and you.
- 4:48Just lose 70 kilometers. What?
- 4:52OK, great conversation. So now I want to thank you for
- 4:58letting me talk to you. This is coffee with Kenny.
- 5:01And we're going to have more videos throughout the day and
- 5:05maybe tomorrow. And I told our YouTube manager
- 5:08Charlie that this is the way it would be.
- 5:10OK, this is where you want us at 4:15 today.
- 5:14This is the meeting. John, want to do a 360 real
- 5:17quick? Just do a 360.
- 5:19So this is where Maximus wants us, and they're going to tutor
- 5:23us and let us know what we're in for.
- 5:26And are those the helmets? Yes, those are the helmets.
- 5:29Those are the helmets. OK.
- 5:32So do you got the contract? OK, You don't need to look at
- 5:37John. Come close here.
- 5:38OK, so this just kind of flipped through the pages, so.
- 5:43This is the standard contract. And by the way, I did.
- 5:49I did sign my life away and look here.
- 5:53Yeah. So I guess I read all this and
- 5:56that's my signature. OK.
- 5:58So, John, you're good, €2500. What is that in America?
- 6:03Or are we closing on on three grand close to that?
- 6:07We're closing. So this is worth every penny for
- 6:10me because I've never been here and I'll probably never come
- 6:13back again. It's a shame.
- 6:15It is a shame. I like you, Maximus.
- 6:18You know what just I don't know where that guy's Hey John, show
- 6:22that carp there. Is that common when the tracks
- 6:25green and wide open? You do you get air here a lot.
- 6:29The moment that you start to push towards your 100%, yes.
- 6:32So if you're, if you go 100%, you're going to get air here.
- 6:35Yes, I was in your bathroom. I saw somebody got air.
- 6:39Because of the elevation changes, you all have a lot of
- 6:41places where you have, you're going up and all of a sudden
- 6:44it's flat. That's where the especially the
- 6:47front tires just loose grip, but you also have lots of places
- 6:50where you all of a sudden have a dip where.
- 6:53I mean compression. Compressions and also the other
- 6:56way around. You just get air and then you
- 6:58land again. So I want to talk about some of
- 7:01the most famous moments in good and bad.
- 7:05Let's start with the ugly first. Niki Lotta got burnt 1970s What?
- 7:12You're young. What do you you know, you're
- 7:14from the Netherlands, but you live here.
- 7:16Tell me about besides Niki Lauda getting burnt up here, what
- 7:22other tragic events that you know of happened here?
- 7:26What? In general, the tragic, tragic
- 7:29events that happened here are around there.
- 7:32Yeah. The shameful thing is around 4
- 7:35to 5 people die minimum per year.
- 7:37Oh my gosh. Because of heavy crashes, the
- 7:42Norse life with us, a lot of things to improve a lot on that,
- 7:46but unfortunately you can't. Yeah, completely wipe out the
- 7:52danger of Motorsports. Yeah.
- 7:54What they did after the Niki Lauder crash, though, is they
- 7:56shut the entire track down. So first of all, it was the
- 8:00northern loop, which called the Nordslife, and the southern
- 8:03loop, which is the suit Slifer. The suit Slifer, they bend
- 8:06completely because it had trees as natural barriers and.
- 8:11Then they built. They were just running off into
- 8:12the woods. Yeah.
- 8:13And then they made the GP track, which is, which was made in
- 8:171981. And that is still to this day
- 8:21platinum circuit. So Formula One can drive here.
- 8:24Yeah. But the Norse life or the
- 8:27Nurburcrane just says, wow, we don't want them here.
- 8:30Yeah. What a so Max Verstappen.
- 8:33Yes, they were here 2 weeks ago. He was here yesterday.
- 8:36He was here yesterday. Hold on.
- 8:39OK, Tell me all about it. He's testing for the 24 hours.
- 8:42So of course 2 weeks ago what everybody noticed is that he
- 8:46started the NLS two race, which is the 4 hour variant of the 24
- 8:50hours. They do that around 10 to 12 * a
- 8:53year, every month one sometimes 2.
- 8:56And he just booked the track for a test day and they did laps to
- 9:01test the Mercedes that they are being running for the 24 hours.
- 9:05So what do you think? OK, two weeks ago Max wins in
- 9:10the Red Bull car and then they come out hours later and said
- 9:13you used used seven sets of towers.
- 9:15You were only only supposed to use six.
- 9:18Do you call bullshit on that? No I don't because that once set
- 9:22that was used was used during a pit stop practice the day
- 9:27before. Yeah.
- 9:28So he was illegal? You were saying so?
- 9:30He indeed used the seven set, but it was not in the race, so
- 9:34the race pace that they had was indeed the race pace that every
- 9:38other car should be. So you're when I say bull, that
- 9:40means he do you. I don't think he should have
- 9:44been penalized. Do you think he should have?
- 9:46It's what the rules say. It's the rules, John.
- 9:49How? Where we at, buddy?
- 9:50How many minutes? 510-1010?
- 9:53OK, Well, well, listen. Thank you, Max.
- 9:57Is it Maximus? No.
- 9:58It's just. Max, Max.
- 10:00All right, OK, stay tuned. We're going to come back later
- 10:03today. It's around 1:30.
- 10:05We start our safety, you know, deal here 415 the breathing and
- 10:11we're going to get on the track 5:00.
