Latest / Stugotz and Company / Big Stu-ey: Closing Down the Bar (w/ Jeff Passan)
Transcript
- 0:21Speaker 1: The World Series starts tonight. Jeff Passan, nice enough to
- 0:24Speaker 1: spend some time with us. He's in Milwaukee right now.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Check out his podcast, Sources Tell Jeff Passan. It's a
- 0:30Speaker 1: fantastic listen wherever you get your podcasts. His voice is
- 0:34Speaker 1: a little gravelly this morning. He looks a bit tired.
- 0:38Speaker 1: It seems like he had a fun night in Milwaukee
- 0:39Speaker 1: last night. What happened last night, Passon?
- 0:43Speaker 2: I closed Wolski's. He has the sign! Not just the sign, buddy,
- 0:53Speaker 2: but this is a bumper sticker.
- 0:55Speaker 3: So Wolski's lower east side of Milwaukee is... just like
- 1:01Speaker 3: the best bar. And if you stay until two o'clock
- 1:04Speaker 3: in the morning, they give you a bumper sticker that says,
- 1:07Speaker 3: I closed Wolski's. And the, the, the only goal of
- 1:13Speaker 3: this world series was to ensure that at least at.
- 1:16Speaker 2: One point we closed Wolski.
- 1:17Speaker 3: So yeah, there were, it was a great, it was
- 1:21Speaker 3: a great baseball crowd last night.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:23Speaker 3: And it's always like, it's always fun going out in
- 1:27Speaker 3: a city and, where there is this palpable energy. And
- 1:32Speaker 3: that energy comes from the fact that Brewers fans haven't
- 1:34Speaker 3: seen a World Series game in 44 years. And that
- 1:37Speaker 3: in the 58 years of the franchise, they have not
- 1:41Speaker 3: won a championship. And so you have all of this
- 1:45Speaker 3: pent up energy just waiting to explode in either the
- 1:50Speaker 3: most thrilling way imaginable or the most heartbreaking. And, you know, it,
- 1:56Speaker 3: I understand this World Series is probably not going to
- 1:58Speaker 3: get very good television ratings because it's the Brewers and
- 2:01Speaker 3: the Rays. And these aren't exactly teams that throughout the
- 2:05Speaker 3: country people know about or care about. But the combination
- 2:10Speaker 3: of the great baseball that both of them played, plus
- 2:13Speaker 3: the stakes that are involved here, to me, like, amplify
- 2:16Speaker 3: this series and make it every bit as interesting as
- 2:19Speaker 3: one that would have had two bigger market, more well-known teams.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I love it.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I think it's great.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I think the Brewers fans deserve every last bit of
- 2:30Speaker 3: the joy that they're going to get out of this.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And, you know, you go to a bar in Milwaukee, man,
- 2:35Speaker 2: you meet some characters. I mean, the brew crew.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I mean, what in Rome, you know?
- 2:41Speaker 2: I mean, let's put it this way. There's one in particular.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Who thinks he's going to be proposing to And on
- 2:54Speaker 3: the same day that he's going to propose, instead of
- 2:57Speaker 3: taking his wife to be to the Brewers game, he's
- 3:01Speaker 3: going to go with his dad and his brother.
- 3:05Speaker 4: That's a bad way to kick things off.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I thought that was so awesome. I was just like,
- 3:10Speaker 2: deck Milwaukee right there. Freaking go.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Are there any other media members? I don't want to
- 3:15Speaker 1: put you in a bad spot so you don't have
- 3:17Speaker 1: to answer. Anyone that I would know that is carrying
- 3:20Speaker 1: around a similar sign today?
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:25Speaker 3: There are definitely many media members that you would know
- 3:29Speaker 3: carrying around a similar sign today.
- 3:31Speaker 1: That puts a smile on my face. I won't press
- 3:33Speaker 1: you on who, but just... I can imagine it, unless
- 3:36Speaker 1: you want to tell me it.
- 3:37Speaker 4: It's up to you.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I'll say this. I don't know if you know Adam
- 3:43Speaker 2: Amin at all. Yes, of course. Adam was in town.
- 3:49Speaker 3: With the bulls and uh adam amin is like the
- 3:53Speaker 3: a treasure of a human being just like really good
- 3:56Speaker 3: positive energy and he was like you know what uh
- 4:01Speaker 3: yeah sure i'll go to some.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Random bar and you know in the middle of milwaukee
- 4:05Speaker 2: and stay until two o'clock in.
- 4:06Speaker 5: The morning because why wouldn't i and uh it We
- 4:13Speaker 5: live very, very fortunate lives in this business, and getting
- 4:18Speaker 5: to randomly run into Adam when I haven't seen him in, God,
- 4:22Speaker 5: probably a year or.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Two was one of the great joys of the night.
- 4:27Speaker 6: Jeff, the Brewers' ace, Jacob Mizorowski, I feel like he
- 4:31Speaker 6: was missing bats at an absurd rate during the regular season,
- 4:34Speaker 6: but it really hasn't translated to October yet. Do you
- 4:37Speaker 6: think batters have figured out something against him or is
- 4:40Speaker 6: this just like a small sample size issue?
- 4:44Speaker 2: Taylor, that was an incredible transition. You went from.
- 4:47Speaker 3: We're going drinking to Jacob Mizorowski's whiff rate.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Yes, I wanted to stay at the bar the entire time.
- 4:55Speaker 4: You know me, Passon.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I know exactly where you're going.
- 5:01Speaker 3: If my eyes were better, I feel like I would
- 5:03Speaker 3: have zoomed in on you and just seen disappointment.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Just like, come on, man. We're afraid. Are we really
- 5:10Speaker 2: going there?
- 5:12Speaker 4: But he loves baseball. I mean, and you love him
- 5:14Speaker 4: because he loves baseball.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah, listen, I'll nerd out with you here, Taylor, too.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I don't know how much of a concern it is
- 5:21Speaker 3: because when you look at what the Padres and the
- 5:26Speaker 3: Dodgers were doing to Jacob Mizorowski, they.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Were spoiling pitches.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Like there weren't swings and misses and they were pushing
- 5:34Speaker 3: his pitch count up.
- 5:35Speaker 2: But it's not like they were doing damage.
- 5:37Speaker 3: If suddenly the fastball is becoming hittable as opposed to touchable,
- 5:44Speaker 3: I feel like those are two different things there. And
- 5:46Speaker 3: I'm not sure that anybody, frankly, outside of a lucky
- 5:50Speaker 3: swing is going to hit a home run off of
- 5:53Speaker 3: Jacob Mizorowski's fastball. The Rays tend not to handle velocity
- 5:58Speaker 3: particularly well or have– I put up very good numbers
- 6:02Speaker 3: against anything 98 plus and this is going to be
- 6:06Speaker 3: 100 to 102 plus all night. So I think they
- 6:10Speaker 3: can absolutely take the lessons of what the Padres and
- 6:13Speaker 3: Dodgers did and try to shorten up their swings and
- 6:16Speaker 3: try and get the ball in play and drive up
- 6:19Speaker 3: his pitch count and get him out of the game early.
- 6:21Speaker 2: But let's also not.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Forget, this is the first game of the series after
- 6:24Speaker 3: a more than a week-long layoff where Aaron Ashby and D.L.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Hall and Abner Uribe and Trevor McGill and Jojo Romero
- 6:33Speaker 3: and the rest of the ridiculous bullpen that the Brewers
- 6:36Speaker 3: have put together, they're all going to be rested.
- 6:39Speaker 2: They're all going to be ready to go out there.
- 6:41Speaker 3: So if Jacob Mizorowski goes four or five tonight, I
- 6:44Speaker 3: don't think that Pat Murphy, the Brewers manager, is going
- 6:46Speaker 3: to be all that mad at it as long as
- 6:48Speaker 3: those four or five end up with a 1 or
- 6:52Speaker 3: a 0 in the run column.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Jeff, I know what you're saying about television ratings.
- 6:56Speaker 4: They're not big markets.
- 6:57Speaker 1: There's not a lot of interest outside of those markets,
- 6:59Speaker 1: but we do have the best two teams playing in
- 7:01Speaker 1: the World Series, don't we?
- 7:03Speaker 2: We sure do. And they're not just the best two teams, Stu.
- 7:08Speaker 2: They are.
- 7:10Speaker 3: very, very similar in how they have been built, how
- 7:13Speaker 3: they approach the game, what they think of it. In
- 7:18Speaker 3: an evaluator, I was trying to put together a scouting
- 7:21Speaker 3: report for ESPN.com, and he was saying this about the Brewers,
- 7:26Speaker 3: but I think it actually goes for the Rays too.
- 7:29Speaker 3: He said it's a 1980s baseball team with 2020 sensibilities.
- 7:33Speaker 3: And what he means by that is, they have a
- 7:36Speaker 3: wide array of ways to score runs. They can hit
- 7:41Speaker 3: home runs, but, and you know, this goes for both teams.
- 7:43Speaker 3: They can hit home runs, but it's not really their priority.
- 7:47Speaker 3: They are menaces on the base paths, whether that's stealing
- 7:51Speaker 3: bases or, you know, going first to third on a
- 7:53Speaker 3: single or second home on a single or first to
- 7:56Speaker 3: home on a double, like they will be aggressive on
- 7:59Speaker 3: the base paths.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And they put the ball in play.
- 8:02Speaker 3: And, When you see a guy like Chandler Simpson, it's
- 8:05Speaker 3: just a it's a fun throwback type of baseball player
- 8:09Speaker 3: that he is, where he will just pound the ball
- 8:12Speaker 3: into the ground and run his ass off and say,
- 8:15Speaker 3: beat me to first base. And quite often the throws don't.
- 8:19Speaker 3: So you've got the variety of him on one end
- 8:22Speaker 3: of the spectrum. And then Junior Caminero, who's hitting home
- 8:24Speaker 3: runs and taking 40 second home run trots. on the
- 8:28Speaker 3: other side and there's great, there's great, there's great pitching, uh,
- 8:33Speaker 3: both Kevin cash, who's the longest tenured manager in major
- 8:36Speaker 3: league baseball and Pat Murphy, who's, uh, done it for
- 8:39Speaker 3: only three years now, but is already among the best.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Like there's good strategy going on here too. So I
- 8:46Speaker 3: feel like this has a chance to be a very
- 8:50Speaker 3: interesting series that I just.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Wonder are the brewers, the 2018 red Sox.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Like a force of nature that are just going to
- 8:59Speaker 3: run roughshod through everything in their path. The Padres were
- 9:03Speaker 3: good team guys and they beat him three to one, right?
- 9:06Speaker 3: The Dodgers were the two time defending world series champions.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And they swept them.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Like, is this just the Brewers year or do the
- 9:14Speaker 3: rays have that raised thing? You know, that has, you know,
- 9:18Speaker 3: propelled them toward the top of the sport, but never
- 9:21Speaker 3: to a championship. That, to me, is the tension that's
- 9:25Speaker 3: going on in the series here and what makes it
- 9:27Speaker 3: so interesting.
- 9:39Speaker 6: Jeff you mentioned junior caminero how would we be talking
- 9:42Speaker 6: about junior caminero today if you play for.
- 9:44Speaker 1: The yankees it's a good way of phrasing the question
- 9:52Speaker 1: it is.
- 9:53Speaker 2: What, what would we, would the Yankees still be playing?
- 9:56Speaker 2: That's a good question.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 3: I mean, is it, isn't junior Caminero kind of everything
- 10:03Speaker 3: that the Yankees have already except better.
- 10:07Speaker 6: Another platoon.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Don't get it. Don't get me wrong.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Adding like a 900 OPS anyone to any lineup is
- 10:15Speaker 3: ultimately a good thing. And the Yankees do need a
- 10:17Speaker 3: third baseman, so that would be nice. But I don't
- 10:21Speaker 3: know that Junior Caminero, if he were a Yankee, would
- 10:25Speaker 3: be quite as demonstrative on the field. I think that
- 10:30Speaker 3: being a Yankee inherently beats the.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Fun out of you.
- 10:35Speaker 3: And I'm not saying that like as an entire negative.
- 10:40Speaker 3: That's their culture. That's who the Yankees are. The Yankees
- 10:44Speaker 3: are corporate and the Rays are not. And listen, for
- 10:51Speaker 3: some players, like corporate works, Aaron Judge, Corporate dude, it
- 10:56Speaker 3: lines up pretty well there. I don't think though that
- 11:00Speaker 3: Caminero going in there would be a whole lot different
- 11:04Speaker 3: than Jazz Chisholm, just somebody who's got some flavor, somebody
- 11:08Speaker 3: who's got some personality. I think it would be different
- 11:12Speaker 3: in that Junior doesn't make some of the mental mistakes
- 11:16Speaker 3: that Jazz does, so he would be pretty beloved in
- 11:20Speaker 3: New York. but I don't think he would be taking
- 11:24Speaker 3: trips around the bases like he.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Does right now with the Rays if he were a Yankee.
- 11:28Speaker 1: The only thing Taylor loves more than Jalen Brunson is
- 11:31Speaker 1: the Yankees, and he is very upset that they have
- 11:34Speaker 1: again re-signed Cashman.
- 11:36Speaker 4: I think it was Sal Licata who was on with
- 11:38Speaker 4: us earlier this week.
- 11:39Speaker 1: He said the problem with the Yankees is they don't
- 11:40Speaker 1: think they have a problem, and Cashman is the problem.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Do you agree with that?
- 11:46Speaker 2: I don't think Brian Cashman's the problem, no. I think
- 11:49Speaker 2: it's a large stew of things.
- 11:51Speaker 3: I'm not trying to cop out and avoid saying that
- 11:56Speaker 3: they deserve criticism. Yeah, Brian Cashman deserves some criticism. Aaron
- 12:00Speaker 3: Boone deserves some criticism. The people in the clubhouse deserve
- 12:02Speaker 3: some criticism. Hal Steinbrenner deserves criticism. Sometimes problems can't be
- 12:06Speaker 3: boiled down to a single person. We try to simplify
- 12:10Speaker 3: these things when We're talking about an organization that has
- 12:14Speaker 3: hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people all trying to
- 12:16Speaker 3: do the same thing. And if at the end of
- 12:19Speaker 3: the day, you want to say the person at the
- 12:22Speaker 3: top of the chain is the one responsible for ensuring
- 12:25Speaker 3: that everything underneath him or her is right in that
- 12:29Speaker 3: that leads to an organization winning yes in that respect
- 12:33Speaker 3: brian cashman is responsible for the yankees not winning because
- 12:38Speaker 3: as the president of baseball operations it is his job
- 12:41Speaker 3: to do that but i'm not going to sit here
- 12:43Speaker 3: and say that brian cashman's decision making itself is directly
- 12:47Speaker 3: responsible if that's the case can't you look at brian
- 12:50Speaker 3: cashman and say that he's developed ben rice who's one
- 12:52Speaker 3: of the best bats in baseball And he's developed Cam Schlittler,
- 12:55Speaker 3: who's going to win the American League Cy Young this
- 12:57Speaker 3: year and is one of the best pitchers in baseball.
- 12:59Speaker 3: And put together a team that consistently wins 90 games, which, yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 3: it hasn't led to a World Series championship since 2009.
- 13:08Speaker 3: But I think a lot of other teams' fan bases
- 13:14Speaker 3: would take the consistent winning that they have. The problem
- 13:17Speaker 3: is they're the Yankees, and that's not good enough.
- 13:18Speaker 2: And that's okay. I don't mind expectations.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Like being realistic about what this is is more the point.
- 13:28Speaker 3: And that's that Brian Cashman isn't bad at his job.
- 13:31Speaker 3: I think a lot of the parts of his job
- 13:33Speaker 3: he's done really well. But when it comes to building
- 13:36Speaker 3: a team, there are flaws and weaknesses on this Yankees team.
- 13:40Speaker 3: It is not a well-rounded team. It's a pretty one-dimensional
- 13:43Speaker 3: team when it comes to Aaron Boone managing this team.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I think Aaron Boone has done a pretty good job.
- 13:49Speaker 3: But for him to say that there's nothing wrong, there's
- 13:53Speaker 3: always something wrong with culture. You always need to be
- 13:56Speaker 3: improving your culture in one way or another.
- 13:59Speaker 2: And if you're not.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Reaching your goal, and the Yankees' stated goal is that
- 14:02Speaker 3: we're going to win a world championship every year, if
- 14:04Speaker 3: there's not more self-reflection and more honesty about the things
- 14:08Speaker 3: that you might be doing wrong, that to me is.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Where the problem would be.
- 14:12Speaker 3: And I thought Hal Steinbrenner laying blame on the players.
- 14:18Speaker 2: That was interesting.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 6: My problem, Jeff, is sometimes Cashman and Steinbrenner specifically, they
- 14:27Speaker 6: talk about the Yankees' problems like they're outside observers, like
- 14:31Speaker 6: they inherited this team from somebody where it's like the
- 14:34Speaker 6: offense let us down. I think four out of the
- 14:35Speaker 6: past five seasons, they've mentioned that the offense let them down,
- 14:38Speaker 6: and the fifth season was the Juan Soto season. And
- 14:41Speaker 6: it's like, oh, who's constructing this offense? What would you
- 14:44Speaker 6: say to Yankee fans who are rooting for the lockout?
- 14:48Speaker 2: Why would Yankee fans be rooting for the lockout?
- 14:50Speaker 6: Because I want my spring free next year.
- 14:55Speaker 4: He knows the ending already.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 15:04Speaker 4: You don't have to answer it. Let's go back to
- 15:08Speaker 4: the side.
- 15:08Speaker 3: I'll take a pass on that one.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Where will that side?
- 15:13Speaker 1: In your house when you go home, you have a
- 15:15Speaker 1: trophy room, you have a memorabilia room. Will that thing
- 15:18Speaker 1: be prominently displayed? Will it go center? Like, where is
- 15:21Speaker 1: that going to go in your room there?
- 15:26Speaker 2: It's going to go up on the backdrop. Okay. For sure.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Because, because here's the thing, man, like we've, As we age,
- 15:35Speaker 3: I'm 46 now. I understand that the number of 2 a.m.
- 15:39Speaker 3: nights I have left in me might be dwindling. So
- 15:43Speaker 3: there's an amount. There was one point at the bar
- 15:48Speaker 3: last night, and I think it was Adam Barry who
- 15:53Speaker 3: covers the Rays for MLB.com.
- 15:56Speaker 2: He turns to me and he says, hey, dude. I
- 15:59Speaker 2: think you're the oldest guy left.
- 16:01Speaker 4: In this bar.
- 16:05Speaker 3: And I wasn't sure. The first instinct there was pride. Like,
- 16:13Speaker 3: hell yeah.
- 16:14Speaker 4: I still got it.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I made it through. But then I thought to myself,
- 16:19Speaker 2: am I the sad old guy in the bar? Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Is that what I've become? Yeah.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Well, if you guys do it again in Tampa, you
- 16:27Speaker 1: could be the sad old guy at a strip club.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I mean, how about that?
- 16:33Speaker 4: You guys shut that fucking place down, man.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness.
- 16:41Speaker 4: All right, man. Don't tell me. Before you.
- 16:46Speaker 4: You might only have five or six left in your lifetime. Oh,
- 16:50Speaker 4: my God.
- 16:50Speaker 1: All right, on the way out here, Sources Tell Jeff Passing,
- 16:53Speaker 1: great podcast. Check it out wherever you get your podcasts.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Who wins the World Series?
- 16:59Speaker 3: I picked them at the beginning of October. I'm not
- 17:02Speaker 3: going to change it. I think the Milwaukee Brewers, for
- 17:04Speaker 3: the first time in their history, will be World Series champions.
- 17:07Speaker 2: But I'll say they're stupid.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I think if this series goes longer, the advantage tilts
- 17:15Speaker 3: a little bit more toward the Rays. And here's why.
- 17:18Speaker 3: The Rays have their starting pitching lined up. They're going
- 17:21Speaker 3: Nick Martinez game one, Drew Rasmussen their ace game two,
- 17:25Speaker 3: Freddie Peralta game three. So they can go back to
- 17:27Speaker 3: Rasmussen in six and Peralta in seven beyond that. the
- 17:32Speaker 3: notion of the familiarity penalty weighs heavily in this series.
- 17:37Speaker 3: And the familiarity penalty is the idea that the more
- 17:40Speaker 3: times within a confined number of games you see a
- 17:44Speaker 3: relief pitcher, the worse that relief pitcher gets. And you
- 17:48Speaker 3: know the way that matchups work now, like there are
- 17:50Speaker 3: going to be specific relievers for the Brewers, which are
- 17:53Speaker 3: their strength assigned to specific pockets of the Rays lineup.
- 17:56Speaker 3: You're going to see a lot of those same matchups.
- 17:58Speaker 3: And You know, the first time or two that you
- 18:01Speaker 3: see them, it might be a little bit difficult. The
- 18:02Speaker 3: third or fourth time, suddenly you know their arm slot,
- 18:05Speaker 3: you know their arsenal, you know the way that their
- 18:07Speaker 3: pitches move. And if the Rays can continue pushing this
- 18:11Speaker 3: on and get later into the series and the Brewers
- 18:13Speaker 3: aren't getting depth out of their starting pitching, that's where
- 18:16Speaker 3: it could turn.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Jeff, we appreciate it. We know it's a busy time
- 18:20Speaker 1: for you. On the way home last night, 2.15 in
- 18:22Speaker 1: the morning, was there an order of some sort of
- 18:25Speaker 1: greasy food? Did you get room service? How'd you handle that?
- 18:29Speaker 3: Like a true Milwaukeean, I got George Webb cheeseburgers.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Wow, that is special. What an evening.
- 18:35Speaker 2: I had a Milwaukee night, bro. There was one point.
- 18:38Speaker 4: How often are you recognized in public?
- 18:48Speaker 2: Often.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I mean, still often.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Okay. And so, and so when that happens, how do
- 18:55Speaker 3: you treat it? Because here's the thing. I could see
- 18:57Speaker 3: you being a very gracious person and, and thoughtful. And
- 19:02Speaker 3: I could also see you being a dick and I kind.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Of want you to be a dick. I'm never, I
- 19:06Speaker 2: kind of think you're probably nice.
- 19:08Speaker 4: No, I'm always flattered by it. Um, it means it does.
- 19:12Speaker 1: It means, it means a lot to me. I always
- 19:14Speaker 1: try to have a conversation or at least take a
- 19:15Speaker 1: quick picture if I can.
- 19:17Speaker 2: It's yeah.
- 19:17Speaker 3: It's like, it's a, it's a wonderful thing that, that
- 19:21Speaker 3: the way I look at it is it's, it's a
- 19:23Speaker 3: wonderful thing that somebody is interested enough in this thing
- 19:26Speaker 3: that I do, or this job that I have, or
- 19:29Speaker 3: this world that I live in to, to come up
- 19:32Speaker 3: and want to talk about it. Like that, that's a,
- 19:34Speaker 3: that's a privilege, but quite often these people do not
- 19:38Speaker 3: have feel that that's, I don't.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Know if that's just.
- 19:42Speaker 3: A baseball term, but yeah, like, And man, there was
- 19:46Speaker 3: a there was a dude last night who, who he
- 19:48Speaker 3: w he was trying so hard to, he's like, man,
- 19:51Speaker 3: I don't want to take up much of your time,
- 19:53Speaker 3: but I got one more thing to say.
- 19:54Speaker 2: And he had like eight. He had eight one more things.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Oh, yes.
- 19:58Speaker 3: And as we got to like five and six and seven,
- 20:01Speaker 3: he started becoming a little bit of a close talker.
- 20:04Speaker 2: And by the end, you can see me creeping up here.
- 20:07Speaker 3: This was like the perspective that I had from this guy.
- 20:11Speaker 2: And we had spittle going on.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 20:13Speaker 3: And you know what? That's what the brewers bring out
- 20:17Speaker 3: in people. That's what baseball brings out in people. That's
- 20:19Speaker 3: what sports brings out in people. That's why we love
- 20:22Speaker 3: what we do.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Yes, and I assure you he had eight more questions
- 20:26Speaker 1: when those eight were done. And he would have walked
- 20:29Speaker 1: you back to the hotel at 2 a.m.
- 20:31Speaker 4: He would have slept there.
- 20:33Speaker 2: He would have.
- 20:33Speaker 4: So there were two. Yes, when I get noticed.
- 20:35Speaker 1: It's such a great observation by you. If it's a
- 20:39Speaker 1: quick hello, if it's a quick story, if it's a
- 20:42Speaker 1: quick picture.
- 20:43Speaker 4: I'm always there for it. I'm always game. I'm always
- 20:45Speaker 4: down for it.
- 20:46Speaker 1: When you start asking me what I think the Dolphins
- 20:49Speaker 1: are going to do this season, that's when I become
- 20:51Speaker 1: a dick, okay?
- 20:51Speaker 3: Yeah. See, I think the difference between the two of
- 20:56Speaker 3: us is I just wear it. I feel like that's
- 21:00Speaker 3: the cost of the life that we have is continuing
- 21:05Speaker 3: to be nice to people even when they're doing things
- 21:09Speaker 3: that socially might not work.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Might not be seen as particularly acceptable.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:14Speaker 4: And in the back of your mind, you're thinking, when
- 21:15Speaker 4: is this going to end? I.
- 21:18Speaker 3: You know, I try that, like I have done that,
- 21:21Speaker 3: but I've tried this year to do that less and
- 21:23Speaker 3: just ride.
- 21:24Speaker 2: The wave, man. You never know what someone's going to
- 21:26Speaker 2: say that you're never going to forget.
- 21:28Speaker 6: Yes.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And, and in this case, what I'm never going to
- 21:30Speaker 3: forget is, is the spray. Like it was, it was
- 21:33Speaker 3: profound as he got close. I'm glad you had fun
- 21:35Speaker 3: last night.
- 21:40Speaker 1: It sounds like a great evening outside of those eight questions.
- 21:43Speaker 1: We appreciate the time during a busy time for you.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Look at him.
- 21:47Speaker 1: He is so proud of that side. Backdrop my ass.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I would put that front and center. Jeff, we appreciate it, man.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Enjoy the World Series.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Thank you, man.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Thanks, boys. Appreciate you.
- 21:58Speaker 1: All right. Thanks.
