- 0:14Speaker 1: there at The Woody Show. Like I mentioned, we're getting
- 0:16Speaker 1: a lot of great feedback on Randy's Grown Man Lemonade Stand.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Tyler.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'm sorry, yeah, Randy.
- 0:24Speaker 3: We would have said Randy if he still worked here.
- 0:26Speaker 1: That's so weird. Tyler's grown man, Lemonade Sand. Sorry, Tyler.
- 0:30Speaker 3: It's basically the same guy.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Sorry. Same build.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Someone said, I need to listen to that segment again
- 0:35Speaker 1: now that we know that all those people were Jeff's friends.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I haven't laughed that hard in a while.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Your friends are good actors. They were.
- 0:42Speaker 3: They surprised me.
- 0:43Speaker 2: The egg throwing and all that, that was all improv.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Jeff, we're getting some great feedback too. Jeff is a
- 0:48Speaker 1: great compliment to the show. Keep coming with the cool
- 0:51Speaker 1: skits like this.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Hell yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 1: This is the power of radio to get audiences engaged
- 0:56Speaker 1: and make them forget just a little bit on their
- 0:58Speaker 1: lives and their problems and escape. Good job to the
- 1:01Speaker 1: whole team. The feedback has been great. Also, we got
- 1:05Speaker 1: the video posted for you. That's on our Instagram, at
- 1:08Speaker 1: The Woody Show. Send us an email, email at thewoodyshow.com.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Nice email here from Robert. Robert says, what's up, Woody Show?
- 1:16Speaker 1: First off, Menace, I really wanted to come meet you
- 1:20Speaker 1: at your event last week, and unfortunately, due to some
- 1:23Speaker 1: medical stuff, I was not able to make it. I
- 1:25Speaker 1: was looking forward to meeting you the second I heard
- 1:28Speaker 1: you announce it on the podcast. Hopefully, it turned out
- 1:30Speaker 1: well enough. You guys will be here in the Dallas
- 1:33Speaker 1: area more often.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And I can hopefully meet you guys and the whole
- 1:37Speaker 1: team one day. You guys are the best. Second, I
- 1:39Speaker 1: had a colonoscopy today. Locky. At first, I was nervous
- 1:42Speaker 1: about it, but I kept remembering all the stuff that
- 1:44Speaker 1: you guys, mostly Greg, said about the procedure and the
- 1:47Speaker 1: best sleep of your life.
- 1:48Speaker 2: So easy.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Just thinking about that is what really helped me not
- 1:51Speaker 1: freak out and panic about the whole situation I am
- 1:54Speaker 1: in with my health. And the fact that a tube
- 1:56Speaker 1: was going to be up my butt and one down
- 1:59Speaker 1: through my throat.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 1: That's the endoscopy. And sometimes they'll do it at the
- 2:03Speaker 1: same time.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Wow.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I had that done at one point. Because they were
- 2:06Speaker 1: trying to figure out a digestion thing I had at
- 2:09Speaker 1: the time. And so they just did it all in one.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Why not?
- 2:12Speaker 1: Send the camera in both ways. Yeah, it was shish kebab.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Don't they call it the Eiffel Tower?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah, the spit roast.
- 2:17Speaker 2: The spit.
- 2:18Speaker 1: It says, but dear Lord, that sleep was amazing.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Isn't it so relaxing?
- 2:23Speaker 1: Last, Gina, not sure if it was still the medicine
- 2:25Speaker 1: affecting me or maybe I'm just getting older and softer,
- 2:28Speaker 1: but when I saw the news about Dolly Parton, I cried.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Yeah, same.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I do not know Dolly's story or her music that well,
- 2:34Speaker 1: but the reason I cried is because on the show
- 2:36Speaker 1: you have said a few times that when the day comes,
- 2:38Speaker 1: you are going to lose it. So thinking of how
- 2:40Speaker 1: this news must have hit you really got me in minefield. Geez. Anyway,
- 2:45Speaker 1: this is not for rambling on. Love you guys so much.
- 2:47Speaker 1: You really make it feel like I'm part of your lives,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and you are part of mine since I listen to
- 2:51Speaker 1: the show every day. I absolutely lose it when you
- 2:53Speaker 1: play Greg's great idea of being sarcastic. That is so funny.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Just the way he's laughing and can't say it straight
- 3:01Speaker 1: cracks me up every time. Just curious. I can't find
- 3:04Speaker 1: the podcast, but I thought I heard it. But is
- 3:06Speaker 1: Sammy's birthday December 28th? I asked because that's my birthday.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Oh, that's Tyler's birthday.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Me love. That's from Robert. Bye.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Everybody's forgetting Tyler's name today.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Sammy is the Rain Man at birthday.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Yeah, she really is.
- 3:21Speaker 2: So interesting.
- 3:22Speaker 1: She really is.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Anyway, thank you.
- 3:23Speaker 1: That was great.
- 3:23Speaker 2: That was so nice.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Yeah. So Menace... was in Dallas and he was at
- 3:30Speaker 1: a Lazy Dog restaurant.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, Addison, Texas.
- 3:33Speaker 1: The Addison location of Lazy Dog and he was talking
- 3:36Speaker 1: to some listeners and about the show. You want to
- 3:39Speaker 1: hear a little bit about that?
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah, Meta sent me the audio. Here we go.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Thank you, Woody and.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Gina, a lot, because I am 47, going to be 48,
- 3:47Speaker 4: so what they talk about, especially Woody, we are like
- 3:51Speaker 4: the same.
- 3:51Speaker 1: A lot of things that he hates, I hate. The
- 3:54Speaker 1: only thing that I didn't like him.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Saying was he did not like college football, that they
- 3:58Speaker 3: don't try.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Those MFers try because they're trying to get to the NFL.
- 4:03Speaker 3: I love college football.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But no, I love the entire show.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Love it.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Everybody is just amazing. Amazingly funny.
- 4:10Speaker 1: That's very nice.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Really, really cool.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Then you had this dude.
- 4:15Speaker 3: What do you love about the show?
- 4:17Speaker 1: Oh, I mean, just everything.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Everybody's sense of humor.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Everybody kind of molds together just to make the perfect show.
- 4:23Speaker 4: And it just kind of hits on all of our
- 4:25Speaker 4: different types of personality.
- 4:27Speaker 2: And I drive trucks, so I listen to you guys
- 4:30Speaker 2: all day long.
- 4:30Speaker 4: I go back on the podcast. I'm in like 2022
- 4:33Speaker 4: right now. Just listen to it back to back to back.
- 4:35Speaker 4: It just gets me through the day, man.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It's awesome.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I mean, so nice.
- 4:39Speaker 5: All the people that showed up to this lazy dog
- 4:42Speaker 5: was so cool.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Really? I kept waiting for the shoe to drop.
- 4:45Speaker 3: I was going to say that.
- 4:47Speaker 1: When you sent me the audio, I'm like, all right,
- 4:49Speaker 1: there's going to be something in here where it's like.
- 4:51Speaker 3: You know what I really hate?
- 4:53Speaker 4: No.
- 4:53Speaker 3: No, everyone is so cool. So nice.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Here's like, listen to this chick.
- 4:57Speaker 5: I love everybody on staff, like Tyler, Morgan, literally everybody.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You, of course.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Guess who's gassed?
- 5:05Speaker 2: Never going to be a quitter.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Always a hitter. We even do it in our house.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Even though it's just the two of us.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I know y'all through her. So when I get home,
- 5:16Speaker 2: I hear from her and hear all the stories.
- 5:17Speaker 3: She plays it back for me.
- 5:18Speaker 6: You're like one of my friends.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Y'all guys have a great personality combination. The way you
- 5:23Speaker 3: interact and pull from each other.
- 5:25Speaker 2: It looks really great.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 1: So nice. That's so nice.
- 5:30Speaker 2: The home version of Guess Who's Gas.
- 5:31Speaker 3: But there's only two people.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Two people.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 1: This text says, Greg is the only one keeping me
- 5:37Speaker 1: tuned in.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Whatever works. No pressure, Greg. A lot of love at
- 5:43Speaker 3: the meetup.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, whatever works.
- 5:45Speaker 1: You know, it's interesting. Like the people. So I sent that.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I sent that audio to the guy who's the program.
- 5:52Speaker 1: He's the new program director of our station in Dallas. Yeah.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Guy's been on the job, I don't know, five months?
- 6:00Speaker 1: Something like that? Haven't even spoken to the guy yet.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I think he hates us.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 6:07Speaker 3: That's a clear sign.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah. I think he hates us.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Yeah. And to be fair, if it wasn't the guy
- 6:14Speaker 1: who was the program director when we first signed on,
- 6:16Speaker 1: he was great. This guy, Patrick.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And the company, of course, because he was great, they
- 6:20Speaker 1: got rid of him.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 1: That's how it works.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 6:23Speaker 1: So they're like, nope, this guy's too good. He cares
- 6:26Speaker 1: too much. And they got rid of him. And then
- 6:31Speaker 1: it was just like a revolving door of different people
- 6:33Speaker 1: who ignored us. Yeah. Like, I mean, completely ignored us.
- 6:36Speaker 1: It got so bad with our station there in Dallas.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And I think it might still be this way because
- 6:43Speaker 1: I wouldn't know because I haven't heard from this new
- 6:45Speaker 1: guy yet.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Nobody's reached out.
- 6:46Speaker 2: No.
- 6:48Speaker 1: It got so bad and they had people running the show.
- 6:53Speaker 1: That couldn't figure out how to take phone calls, so
- 6:55Speaker 1: they did no contesting during the morning show. You don't
- 6:59Speaker 1: just find someone who can pick up a phone. Couldn't
- 7:00Speaker 1: do any giveaways because they couldn't even hire somebody competent
- 7:02Speaker 1: enough to answer calls. And so that's where we're up against.
- 7:06Speaker 1: And then we hear from people all the time. You
- 7:08Speaker 1: talked to some of the people who were there.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:10Speaker 5: I mean, they had nothing negative to say about the show.
- 7:12Speaker 5: But since we're sharing stuff, they said the station, they
- 7:16Speaker 5: said it technically sounded so bad. That they couldn't even
- 7:21Speaker 5: tune in. They're like, dude, everything gets cut off. Things
- 7:23Speaker 5: are playing over each other. This has been an ongoing problem.
- 7:25Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I listened to the podcast.
- 7:27Speaker 1: And not just exclusive to this station. It's been ongoing.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Bort and I have been working on this project for
- 7:33Speaker 1: months to make it so it's even more idiot proof
- 7:35Speaker 1: that you could just run a show. But we hear from, well,
- 7:39Speaker 1: Dallas is pretty bad with it. I don't know what
- 7:42Speaker 1: they expect from us. Like, when people are even trying
- 7:44Speaker 1: to tune in.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Yeah. They said it was unlistenable.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And when you hear, like, what we're talking about, like,
- 7:49Speaker 1: we're doing a conversation or a bit on the show,
- 7:51Speaker 1: and there's commercials playing at the same time. Or a
- 7:54Speaker 1: song playing at the same time. It's crazy because I
- 7:58Speaker 1: worked on a college radio station. If we did that once,
- 8:00Speaker 1: we would have been fired.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Oh, dude.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Like, Dallas is a big city.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Right? Yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Not small.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So, anyway, long story longer, I'm like, oh, this is cool. Hey.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I sent the text to the dude.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I said, hey, a bunch of people show up.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I said Menace had some lunch with listeners in
- 8:18Speaker 1: Dallas today. Here's some of the audio. The only thing
- 8:22Speaker 1: this guy has really ever said to me, and this
- 8:25Speaker 1: is this response, he goes, gotta love the P1s, which
- 8:29Speaker 1: is radio talk. For like your hardcore fans and listeners.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Big fan.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Yeah. P1 is like what they call, and I don't
- 8:36Speaker 1: know where that came from. Don't ask me. You know,
- 8:39Speaker 1: like restaurant lingo. I'm in the weeds all day in
- 8:41Speaker 1: a four topper. I can tell you what it means.
- 8:44Speaker 1: What does it mean? Talk about being in the weeds.
- 8:46Speaker 1: It's the preset on your radio. So your preset one. Oh,
- 8:49Speaker 1: is that what it is?
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I've been on radio a billion years.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You didn't know that?
- 8:51Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I didn't know that. It's the first preset button on
- 8:55Speaker 3: your radio.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I had no idea. So gotta love the P1s. That's
- 8:59Speaker 1: very passive aggressive. Yeah. I know.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Dude.
- 9:02Speaker 1: So I wrote back. I wrote back. I go, gotta
- 9:05Speaker 1: love feedback.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Because again, you've been on the job for five months.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Good answer.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And when this person first started, because I knew this
- 9:13Speaker 1: guy for a long time. Prior to all this. Right.
- 9:17Speaker 1: And I'm like, great. This is a person who I know,
- 9:20Speaker 1: who I thought liked the show. This is going to
- 9:23Speaker 1: be great. Boots on the ground, man. It's going to
- 9:25Speaker 1: be awesome. And then just to haven't, haven't heard a thing,
- 9:27Speaker 1: which leads me to believe that he came in either.
- 9:31Speaker 1: They don't like, or want the show there or whatever,
- 9:33Speaker 1: which to me at this point is fine because they
- 9:37Speaker 1: can't even figure out how to run it where the
- 9:39Speaker 1: show is just on without commercials or music playing at
- 9:42Speaker 1: the same time. It's a, And it's not just a
- 9:45Speaker 1: problem there. I, like I said, it's not exclusive to there.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I just wish it was different because when I hear
- 9:50Speaker 1: from people, uh, you know, wanna, yeah, exactly. Like we're, we're,
- 9:54Speaker 1: we're doing the best that we can to try to
- 9:57Speaker 1: give you guys a show. It is nice hearing these
- 9:59Speaker 1: things because all I do is get beat up behind
- 10:03Speaker 1: the scenes from other people who look at us.
- 10:07Speaker 3: What's the issue here?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Why aren't ratings better in Dallas? Well, maybe because you
- 10:13Speaker 1: can't run the effing station properly. Maybe you can't just
- 10:17Speaker 1: have one thing on the air. You can't even take
- 10:20Speaker 1: caller 10. It's so incompetent. It's run so incompetently, you
- 10:24Speaker 1: can't even just take caller 10. You've taken the contest
- 10:27Speaker 1: off the air because you can't take a phone call?
- 10:31Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Are we serious?
- 10:33Speaker 2: Sounds fake.
- 10:34Speaker 1: It's a joke. It's a joke.
- 10:37Speaker 3: I do want to say it's not all the staff, though.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It's not?
- 10:39Speaker 5: No.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Because there's very, very nice people there. that are supportive.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 10:44Speaker 3: And I want to shout them out.
- 10:45Speaker 2: That is true.
- 10:45Speaker 1: But their hands are tied, right? That is true.
- 10:47Speaker 5: But the, you know.
- 10:49Speaker 1: It's very much a, here are some toothpicks, build a house.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And what pisses me off is that when we get
- 10:55Speaker 1: looked at as if we're not doing what we're supposed
- 10:57Speaker 1: to be doing or like there's something wrong with the
- 11:00Speaker 1: content or whatever of the show. I'm like, am I tripping?
- 11:03Speaker 1: Because the email, like I just wrote, read from you
- 11:06Speaker 1: or the clips that we just heard or the things
- 11:07Speaker 1: that people are texting in every day and paint a
- 11:10Speaker 1: completely different picture.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Yeah. If you're not responsible for what's heard on the air,
- 11:14Speaker 5: we're not talking about you.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Correct.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And to be clear, the people we are talking about,
- 11:21Speaker 1: we are talking about you. Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Are you sleeping in all day? Are you not listening
- 11:27Speaker 5: to your own station? You're not listening to your own
- 11:29Speaker 5: station and you're in charge?
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 1: You are a problem. We're not the problem. You're the problem.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And the person before you was the problem. The person
- 11:38Speaker 1: before you was the problem. And they got rid of
- 11:40Speaker 1: the person who was actually the person who actually cared.
- 11:45Speaker 6: Even in my early days, if that had happened one
- 11:47Speaker 6: time or something's running over the other, the door would
- 11:50Speaker 6: have come off the hinges and I would have been
- 11:53Speaker 6: just basically let go.
- 11:55Speaker 3: It wasn't, it is what it is.
- 11:56Speaker 2: No. Yep.
- 11:58Speaker 3: You figure it out.
- 11:59Speaker 2: What the F are you doing?
- 12:01Speaker 1: So if you're having issues like that, just know that
- 12:04Speaker 1: you can always get the podcast. You can always stream it.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Well, this is what our listeners in Dallas say they
- 12:11Speaker 3: have to do.
- 12:11Speaker 1: But the problem with that is that when you're just
- 12:14Speaker 1: streaming or podcasting, it doesn't count toward any of the ratings.
- 12:18Speaker 1: What we need it to count for. Yeah. And then
- 12:21Speaker 1: I got to hear about that.
- 12:23Speaker 3: But you listen however you can listen.
- 12:25Speaker 1: We appreciate it. The Woody Show. I do want to
- 12:31Speaker 1: thank everybody who does listen and support the show and everything.
- 12:36Speaker 1: We do see you. We do hear you. We are
- 12:41Speaker 1: not a lot of things. We are certainly not... I
- 12:45Speaker 1: don't think we are a great show. I think we're
- 12:49Speaker 1: a good show. I don't think we're a great show,
- 12:51Speaker 1: but I don't think that's from lack of work ethic.
- 12:54Speaker 1: We certainly... Every conversation we always have is always about
- 12:57Speaker 1: what is the... What is the listener experience? You know,
- 13:01Speaker 1: it's not about what we like or whatever. Like we
- 13:03Speaker 1: try to do things and we try to operate in
- 13:05Speaker 1: a way, like whether it's an event, like what, so
- 13:07Speaker 1: when people go, what, like, what's the experience going to
- 13:10Speaker 1: be like? Like, what, what are we doing? How is
- 13:13Speaker 1: this going to benefit? The question, how is this always
- 13:14Speaker 1: going to benefit? So when you turn in, like, how
- 13:17Speaker 1: does this benefit the listener? And it's, and it's just, it's,
- 13:20Speaker 1: it's frustrating, you know, when, you know, we, we get
- 13:25Speaker 1: side eye or we get, looked at as I, like
- 13:30Speaker 1: everything I say is just like, I'm, I'm pissed and
- 13:32Speaker 1: I'm frustrated. Sure. You know, because like, dude, we're, I
- 13:36Speaker 1: really believe that we are doing everything and I don't
- 13:38Speaker 1: have any kind of false idea of what we are,
- 13:41Speaker 1: who we are. You know, we, we, we, we are
- 13:44Speaker 1: never the most talented. We're never the best.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:48Speaker 1: You know, no, I'm just saying just in general, it's
- 13:51Speaker 1: not about that, but like we always, always put, the show,
- 13:56Speaker 1: the content, the expectation of what you are tuning in
- 13:59Speaker 1: for top of mind every single time. And it's frustrating
- 14:03Speaker 1: because it's tough, man. It's like anything else, any other
- 14:05Speaker 1: business when people are out there, you know, trying to
- 14:07Speaker 1: get you to be a customer, you know, of whatever
- 14:10Speaker 1: they have to sell or whatever service they're providing. Although
- 14:14Speaker 1: some people don't really, some people aren't really trying that
- 14:17Speaker 1: way either.
- 14:17Speaker 2: But when it works well, like if.
- 14:19Speaker 6: You go to a business and give them your business
- 14:21Speaker 6: and it actually goes smoothly and they help you with something, it's,
- 14:24Speaker 6: awesome it's noteworthy when it's good.
- 14:26Speaker 1: As as companies like as like uh you know like
- 14:29Speaker 1: a radio station we'll just let's just use our own
- 14:31Speaker 1: example as the example like do you know how hard
- 14:34Speaker 1: it is to get anybody's attention now oh it's nearly
- 14:37Speaker 1: impossible there's there's so much distraction everything out there so
- 14:41Speaker 1: we manage and a lot of times i mean you
- 14:44Speaker 1: know these radio stations that you're listening to rock alternative
- 14:47Speaker 1: whatever they are not The soccer mom stations, the pop
- 14:50Speaker 1: stations that have built-in huge mega audiences.
- 14:53Speaker 2: The listen at work station.
- 14:54Speaker 1: It's by default always a smaller audience, but what makes
- 14:58Speaker 1: them successful is that people tune in, they listen longer.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And in that, this is inside baseball of how the
- 15:03Speaker 1: whole thing works. So to be on a station that
- 15:05Speaker 1: is not one of those stations is already to get
- 15:08Speaker 1: people to come in and listen. Then to get them
- 15:11Speaker 1: to not only listen that day, but to stick around
- 15:14Speaker 1: and listen for a certain amount of time and then
- 15:16Speaker 1: come back the next day and do it again. is
- 15:19Speaker 1: very difficult. So when you get people to actually tune
- 15:21Speaker 1: in and listen and they're listening to us talk while
- 15:24Speaker 1: there's a song playing behind it or commercials playing behind it,
- 15:27Speaker 1: and we can't get anybody to actually help us and
- 15:30Speaker 1: do anything about it. And if it does, it's an
- 15:31Speaker 1: act of Congress.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:34Speaker 1: It's crazy. We're the problem.
- 15:36Speaker 3: We're difficult.
- 15:37Speaker 1: We're the one. Well, I don't know. Some of these
- 15:40Speaker 1: markets run like an abbreviated version of the show. So
- 15:44Speaker 1: it's not even the show, how it's designed. It's like
- 15:47Speaker 1: we talk about people are like, oh, this is a
- 15:49Speaker 1: great show. Can I get the recipe? And then you
- 15:52Speaker 1: try to make it yourself.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Leave out a bunch of stuff.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And you leave it out and you go, it was okay, just,
- 15:56Speaker 1: you know.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Not the same.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because you left half the stuff out.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I don't really like butter.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Right. Okay.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Anyway, so just know, man, like we, and we
- 16:06Speaker 1: always don't hit the mark. I'm sure this is very
- 16:09Speaker 1: boring to a lot of people right now. I'm just,
- 16:11Speaker 1: in a full disclosure, we share and wear everything. I'm
- 16:15Speaker 1: just sharing with you, you know, from my standpoint. But
- 16:21Speaker 1: that is a, that is a toxic norm, not to
- 16:25Speaker 1: use a stupid modern day phrase. Yeah. The toxic norm. Like,
- 16:30Speaker 1: I'm getting a bunch of, I'm getting a bunch of criticism,
- 16:32Speaker 1: I'm getting sideways looks from people who aren't doing what
- 16:35Speaker 1: they're supposed to do.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Right. Yeah.
- 16:38Speaker 1: When you're the one, like, you know, like, we're always
- 16:42Speaker 1: defending the wrong, or, you know, we're coming to the
- 16:45Speaker 1: defense of the wrong side a lot.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 5: I think what you're trying to explain is, we're looked
- 16:50Speaker 5: at as if we're not putting in any effort or yeah.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Or yeah.
- 16:54Speaker 3: And we put in, I feel the most effort.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Always on like every level.
- 17:00Speaker 5: And then, you know, when things are happening.
- 17:03Speaker 1: It's not everywhere. It's a difficult conversation because the show
- 17:06Speaker 1: is wildly successful in a lot of places and then
- 17:10Speaker 1: moderate and some others and then really terrible. But it's weird.
- 17:14Speaker 1: The ones where it's really terrible are the ones that
- 17:15Speaker 1: people are like, but I just went on this whole
- 17:17Speaker 1: rip about don't do anything for it. Yeah. Right.
- 17:22Speaker 5: To give you a little more insight on the Dallas
- 17:24Speaker 5: thing too. Also, I walk into the studio just to
- 17:28Speaker 5: take a look around. The microphones are unplugged. It's covered
- 17:32Speaker 5: in dust. I'm like, oh yeah, they're really putting a
- 17:35Speaker 5: lot of effort into this.
- 17:36Speaker 1: That's why it's frustrating. It sounds dumb. I care too much.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I do.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I probably do care too much. I really do. I
- 17:45Speaker 1: take it personally because there's a lot of people that
- 17:49Speaker 1: put a lot of work into it.
- 17:52Speaker 2: A lot of people.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:53Speaker 2: All right.
- 17:53Speaker 1: So here are some other accepted standards out there, things
- 17:57Speaker 1: that are now considered normal but shouldn't be. And companies
- 18:02Speaker 1: saving money by lowering customer service standards. Like we talked
- 18:06Speaker 1: about the customer service standards a number of times.
- 18:09Speaker 2: It doesn't exist.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Yeah. It's funny, man. I've been looking for HVAC companies, right?
- 18:14Speaker 1: You were just asking me about one. I'm dealing with
- 18:16Speaker 1: that right now. I finally found one. But I went
- 18:18Speaker 1: on a couple that had really good reviews and people
- 18:20Speaker 1: said really nice stuff and not like on those paid
- 18:24Speaker 1: for review sites. We're talking about like actual customers, right?
- 18:27Speaker 1: Verified customers and from word of mouth from some other neighbors.
- 18:32Speaker 1: And I went on their website and I filled out
- 18:33Speaker 1: all the stuff. But hey, I'm interested in setting up
- 18:36Speaker 1: like a regular routine service for HVAC. company used to
- 18:40Speaker 1: deal with i mean they kept canceling you set appointments
- 18:42Speaker 1: clear your day and then they like reschedule and you're
- 18:45Speaker 1: like i can't keep shuffling my day around you're not
- 18:48Speaker 1: doing me a favor i'm paying you to come out
- 18:50Speaker 1: and do the service anyway so i moved on from
- 18:51Speaker 1: them filled out the app on two different uh hvac
- 18:55Speaker 1: companies had great reviews right neither one of them called
- 18:57Speaker 1: back over like of course five days i gave him
- 19:00Speaker 1: five days.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yeah yeah isn't that weird these contractors they don't want
- 19:05Speaker 2: The job?
- 19:06Speaker 1: They don't want money. Yeah. They don't want money? And
- 19:08Speaker 1: I know they're busy. We talk about the trades and
- 19:11Speaker 1: just they need plumbers. They need electricians. I know they
- 19:14Speaker 1: need people. But, man.
- 19:17Speaker 2: But that's what I'm saying.
- 19:18Speaker 6: Companies that do go above and beyond, they stand out
- 19:22Speaker 6: so much more because most companies don't do anything.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Yeah. So then I reached out to the one and
- 19:29Speaker 1: it picked up. And for half a second, I thought
- 19:31Speaker 1: I was talking to an actual person. But no, it's
- 19:33Speaker 1: an AI company. customer service person that they're trying to
- 19:37Speaker 1: make sound like a real person and you know when
- 19:39Speaker 1: it's just an automated like a voice automated yeah uh
- 19:42Speaker 1: you know you know please tell us a little bit
- 19:44Speaker 1: about what you're calling about and we'll direct you to
- 19:46Speaker 1: no this was just hi thank you for calling my
- 19:49Speaker 1: name blah blah blah how can i help you today
- 19:51Speaker 1: i don't like it nope and i hung right up
- 19:56Speaker 1: man nope uh employers thinking it's okay just to ghost
- 20:01Speaker 1: you after an interview Yeah.
- 20:04Speaker 2: That's very rude.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Yeah. I was just talking to a buddy of mine.
- 20:07Speaker 1: He was up for a program director job at a
- 20:09Speaker 1: radio station. He interviewed for it 10 months ago and
- 20:13Speaker 1: they were stringing him along for 10 months. And then
- 20:18Speaker 1: he found out because he works, he's like an internal candidate.
- 20:21Speaker 1: He works for the company. He knows all the players involved.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And they actually came to him about the job. And
- 20:27Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, you know what? I might be interested
- 20:29Speaker 1: in that. interviewed for it, talked to all the different people.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Okay, cool, cool, cool.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Yeah, okay. Well, then there was like a pause, like
- 20:35Speaker 1: a hiring freeze or whatever. And then they started going
- 20:37Speaker 1: through the process again. He's like, I still haven't heard anything. Well,
- 20:40Speaker 1: 10 months later, he heard about how there's some dude
- 20:43Speaker 1: moving to that city to go take over that job.
- 20:46Speaker 1: And he said to somebody, well, what's it? Oh yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you that we hired so-and-so.
- 20:52Speaker 5: That happens with so many jobs.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And these are people that you know. These are already your...
- 21:01Speaker 1: Your colleagues. So imagine if you're just a member of
- 21:04Speaker 1: the applying public. Just tell them, hey, you know what?
- 21:08Speaker 1: Got your resume.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Sorry. Going a different direction.
- 21:12Speaker 5: Again, even full-on interviews, zero follow-up. Like, hey, not even, oh, sorry,
- 21:17Speaker 5: you didn't.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Get the job. We went another direction.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Feeling that you have to be completely constantly available or
- 21:25Speaker 1: that you always have to reply to a text immediately.
- 21:28Speaker 1: That's what they call a toxic norm, like things that
- 21:31Speaker 1: are just normal now. Like you have to be available
- 21:34Speaker 1: constantly or reply to texts immediately. I used to be
- 21:38Speaker 1: more like that. I don't feel that. I don't feel
- 21:41Speaker 1: the urgency so much.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I don't feel that pull anymore. But I do respond.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:46Speaker 6: And nowadays, if you text somebody, they don't text you
- 21:48Speaker 6: back within.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Let's say, half an hour. You know they're holding their phone. Yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I don't really worry about it.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Like my kids.
- 21:54Speaker 5: Yeah. I don't really worry about response time, but I
- 21:57Speaker 5: always tell people I'm available no matter what.
- 22:00Speaker 1: That people don't respect others' privacy is a toxic norm now.
- 22:04Speaker 6: Yes.
- 22:06Speaker 1: The idea that men need to toughen up, well, that's
- 22:08Speaker 1: just true. I mean, yeah. I know we make a
- 22:14Speaker 1: lot of jokes, but, yeah, I mean, I understand why.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I understand the point of that. And maybe, you know what,
- 22:20Speaker 1: to be fair, maybe everybody needs to toughen up.
- 22:23Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 22:24Speaker 1: We're breaking balls. Would I carry the man purse, Greg?
- 22:28Speaker 2: You would not.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Yeah, because I've never had to, so it's not like
- 22:31Speaker 1: I'm just going to all.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Of a sudden.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Anyway, let's see. They have to be social and have
- 22:35Speaker 1: a lot of friends.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:37Speaker 1: That's a toxic norm. Or question why someone doesn't like
- 22:41Speaker 1: pumpkin spice or any food in general.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Cheers.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Toxic norm.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Okay.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I would say the pumpkin spice is the toxic norm.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Well, I mean, look, it's just a... Nutmeg.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It's just a trend. It's just a fad. Mm-hmm. At
- 22:57Speaker 1: some point, I don't know. Maybe it's here to... Yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 1: maybe it's here to stay.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I love pumpkin pie, but.
- 23:03Speaker 2: After 20 years, I think it's here to stay. Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 5: Pumpkin pie, but not pumpkin spice anything.
- 23:08Speaker 1: 877-44... Yeah, you know what? Here's the other one, man.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Candidates for a job saying that they're going to show
- 23:15Speaker 1: up for an interview, and they just don't. That's a
- 23:18Speaker 1: great idea. That's a great start. Mike the Showkiller runs
- 23:20Speaker 1: that cafe now. He owns a cafe. And he's got
- 23:25Speaker 1: these people that apply for jobs. In fact, I was there.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I was visiting him. And I'm sitting there and he goes, hey,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I'm going to have to go in a couple minutes.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I got this.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Candidate coming by for this job I'm trying to hire for.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I go, no problem. I'm sitting there eating. By the way,
- 23:38Speaker 1: the food at his place is great. It really is.
- 23:40Speaker 1: It was really good. I'm really happy for him.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Good.
- 23:43Speaker 1: So I'm sitting there. I'm enjoying my food. I'm like, hey,
- 23:46Speaker 1: where's this person?
- 23:46Speaker 2: He goes, yeah.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I don't know. Didn't show up. I said, they must
- 23:50Speaker 1: have heard about you. They don't want to work with you.
- 23:53Speaker 2: They heard you. That's insufferable.
- 23:54Speaker 1: They're like, this guy.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Oh, God. F that.
- 23:58Speaker 1: No, but this person didn't even show up.
- 24:00Speaker 6: I went to a job interview where the interviewer didn't
- 24:03Speaker 6: show up.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Got all dressed up.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Took public transit in. Waiting in the lobby. I'm like,
- 24:11Speaker 2: where's Debra? She's not in today. Oh, Debra. Like, oh,
- 24:14Speaker 2: you bitch. 877-44-WOODY.
- 24:17Speaker 1: You can text us. Check in over to 22987. Quick break.
- 24:20Speaker 1: More Woody Shows next.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Hang on.
- 24:22Speaker 1: The Woody Show. We'll be right back.
