- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hawgrel Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kayleie, and this is
- 0:19Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:22Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day for you to become
- 0:24Speaker 1: the Hawtgrel energy you want to attract. Hello you guys,
- 0:27Speaker 1: welcome back to another episode. I cannot believe I'm home
- 0:34Speaker 1: from one of the most insane trips I've ever, ever, ever, ever,
- 0:39Speaker 1: ever ever been on. And if you guys know, you
- 0:42Speaker 1: guys must have seen on my social media that I
- 0:44Speaker 1: went to the Victoria Secret Show, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I was there myself, and it was the hardest secret
- 0:53Speaker 1: to keep from you guys, because to be fully transparent,
- 0:56Speaker 1: I guess I could have told you guys that I
- 0:58Speaker 1: was going. But I thought for some and that the
- 1:00Speaker 1: show was going to be pre recorded because in previous
- 1:02Speaker 1: years that's what they've done. They've done the show in
- 1:05Speaker 1: October and then it's not live on TV until December
- 1:09Speaker 1: because of all the edits and all that. So I
- 1:11Speaker 1: went in thinking like, oh, I can't share anything, like
- 1:13Speaker 1: this is going to have to be a really secretive trip,
- 1:16Speaker 1: and you know I won't be able to post things
- 1:18Speaker 1: until you know, the brand tells me to and when
- 1:21Speaker 1: I get there, they're like, oh no, no, it's live.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I had no idea. So technically,
- 1:27Speaker 1: I guess I could have told you guys that I
- 1:28Speaker 1: was going on the trip way beforehand, but I didn't know,
- 1:31Speaker 1: and I kept that a bit of a secret. And yeah,
- 1:34Speaker 1: so anyways, my apologies on that. But it was a
- 1:38Speaker 1: very very fun trip, and I know a lot of
- 1:40Speaker 1: you guys want a little recap, so I will do that.
- 1:42Speaker 1: But what I do want to talk about is my
- 1:44Speaker 1: experience with traveling alone. This was like my first solo
- 1:49Speaker 1: trip ever. I've definitely flown a lot by myself, like
- 1:53Speaker 1: for many many years because I always you know, usually
- 1:56Speaker 1: meet up with other influencers, you know, throughout my travels
- 1:59Speaker 1: or you ually get a plus one when you get
- 2:01Speaker 1: to go to these brand trips, so you know one
- 2:04Speaker 1: person when you're going to these events because obviously these
- 2:07Speaker 1: events there's a lot of people there. You're connecting with
- 2:09Speaker 1: a lot of new people, but it's always nice to
- 2:11Speaker 1: have a friend, you know what I mean, Like having
- 2:13Speaker 1: one person there that way, like you know, you can
- 2:15Speaker 1: connect with other people together. And it just feels good
- 2:19Speaker 1: and it feels more comfortable when you're with one other person.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But this trip was a fully solo trip, like you
- 2:25Speaker 1: could not bring a plus one. There was no one
- 2:28Speaker 1: there that I even knew, like at all. It was
- 2:30Speaker 1: people from all over the world. I thought I was
- 2:33Speaker 1: going to recognize some people that I currently follow through
- 2:36Speaker 1: you know, Instagram, TikTok all that, but no, there was
- 2:39Speaker 1: not a single person there that I knew, because it
- 2:42Speaker 1: was girls from all over the world, Like I'm talking Germany, Poland, Italy,
- 2:47Speaker 1: just literally everywhere you can possibly think of, all over
- 2:49Speaker 1: the world. Canada obviously, no one from the States, because
- 2:53Speaker 1: everybody in the head office at Victoria's Secret was from
- 2:55Speaker 1: the US. So it was very different and not what
- 2:59Speaker 1: I was expecting. But it was such a good group
- 3:04Speaker 1: of girls, Like everybody was so kind, Everybody was so
- 3:07Speaker 1: like just wanting to meet each other and so well
- 3:10Speaker 1: communicated and so well connected. It just felt very easy
- 3:16Speaker 1: to connect with people because everyone was just so nice
- 3:19Speaker 1: and welcoming, Whereas I feel like some events it can
- 3:21Speaker 1: be difficult to connect with people, especially if people know
- 3:24Speaker 1: each other. I feel like sometimes it could be like
- 3:27Speaker 1: you know, like high school where it's like, Okay, there's
- 3:28Speaker 1: a group of girls there that all know each other,
- 3:30Speaker 1: and they're like, you're not able to like get into
- 3:33Speaker 1: the conversation because it's just hard to step into that,
- 3:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So there was nothing like
- 3:38Speaker 1: that at all. Everybody was just so welcoming and just
- 3:40Speaker 1: wanting to meet you and figure out where you're from.
- 3:43Speaker 1: And it was also just cool to like see the
- 3:45Speaker 1: different sides of social media from around the world, like
- 3:48Speaker 1: how different Germany Instagram is verse ours, if that makes sense,
- 3:52Speaker 1: Like I don't know, like just seeing the different types
- 3:55Speaker 1: of content that some influencers create in a different country
- 3:59Speaker 1: verse US Canadians or US Americans. It was just fun
- 4:02Speaker 1: to like bounce off different ideas with some of the
- 4:05Speaker 1: German girls and all that, and they were just all
- 4:07Speaker 1: so kindly. I got super close with one girl from Germany.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Her name's Abby and she's literally so beautiful, and she
- 4:12Speaker 1: had a wedding in Germany in August and I had
- 4:16Speaker 1: my wedding in Italy, so she actually followed me before
- 4:19Speaker 1: her wedding and was like following my wedding journey. So anyways,
- 4:22Speaker 1: it was a great way to start a conversation because
- 4:24Speaker 1: she already followed me and knew who I was, so
- 4:26Speaker 1: that was like the best way to connect with someone.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And yeah, so all in all, it was just like
- 4:30Speaker 1: such a great brand trip and such a great opportunity
- 4:34Speaker 1: to meet new people. And I'll give you guys a
- 4:36Speaker 1: bit of a rundown of how things went. So I
- 4:40Speaker 1: flew out on Monday morning. I was supposed to fly
- 4:42Speaker 1: out on Sunday, but it was Thanksgiving that weekend, and
- 4:45Speaker 1: the brand was like, you know what, enjoy Thanksgiving. Flyout
- 4:48Speaker 1: Monday morning and you're not going to miss anything, Like
- 4:51Speaker 1: we have a dinner on the Monday night and the
- 4:53Speaker 1: shows on the Tuesday, so you have nothing to worry about.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So I'm like, okay, perfect. So I flew out super
- 4:57Speaker 1: early on the Monday morning and I land did I
- 5:00Speaker 1: think it was ten thirty eleven, so it's pretty early.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It's not a long flight from Ottawa. It's like an
- 5:06Speaker 1: hour and a half light super easy, which is great.
- 5:08Speaker 1: And then when I got there, they had a chauffeur
- 5:11Speaker 1: there picking me up with like a sign that said
- 5:14Speaker 1: my name on it, and I'm like, ooh, bougie, Like
- 5:17Speaker 1: I never get this kind of treatment. So it felt
- 5:20Speaker 1: pretty cool to have that. And he picks me up
- 5:22Speaker 1: in an escalade. We're driving. He's so sweet, this guy, like,
- 5:27Speaker 1: you know, just picking up conversations about, you know, my
- 5:29Speaker 1: job and just asking me questions about Canada all that.
- 5:33Speaker 1: So anyways, we get there and I was staying at
- 5:36Speaker 1: the Public's Hotel, which has been a hotel that I've
- 5:39Speaker 1: wanted to stay at for many years. I think like
- 5:41Speaker 1: everybody always has a dream place they'd want to stay
- 5:44Speaker 1: in a specific city, and Public's Hotel has always been
- 5:47Speaker 1: a hotel that I've wanted to stay at because it's
- 5:50Speaker 1: so beautiful, Like everything about it is just ten out
- 5:52Speaker 1: of ten. So I checked in, I got in, my room,
- 5:55Speaker 1: got all cozy, The room was so stunning. But what
- 5:58Speaker 1: was so funny is that it was like noon around
- 6:01Speaker 1: this time. So I'm like, this is a full solo
- 6:04Speaker 1: day for me, Like what am I going to do?
- 6:06Speaker 1: I felt like this was like the perfect opportunity for
- 6:08Speaker 1: me to like just do things that I enjoyed doing
- 6:11Speaker 1: on like my perfect solo day. And that's what we're
- 6:13Speaker 1: going to talk about in today's episode, is just like
- 6:15Speaker 1: things that I like would want to do for a
- 6:18Speaker 1: perfect solo day and anyways, so we got there, I
- 6:22Speaker 1: checked in and the girl actually texted me, the girl
- 6:25Speaker 1: that works at Victoria's Secret that I was in contact with,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and she's like, hey, like, do you mind leaving your
- 6:30Speaker 1: room for a few minutes, like I want to decorate
- 6:32Speaker 1: your room because I got there a little early, and
- 6:35Speaker 1: I was like, oh, decorate my room? Like how fun?
- 6:37Speaker 1: So I ended up leaving and I wanted to get
- 6:39Speaker 1: all the things I wanted to do for my little
- 6:42Speaker 1: solo day. So I'll talk about that in a second.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I won't get into details, because the perfect solo day
- 6:47Speaker 1: itinerary that I have here is basically everything, well everything
- 6:51Speaker 1: but some things that I actually did when I was
- 6:53Speaker 1: in New York. But these are other things that I
- 6:54Speaker 1: would want to do too, really just make the day perfect.
- 6:58Speaker 1: So I'll talk about that in a second. But when
- 7:00Speaker 1: I came back, the whole room was decorated with all
- 7:02Speaker 1: Victoria's Secret stuff, and I think in that exact moment
- 7:05Speaker 1: and made me realize like, holy shit, I cannot believe
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'm here going to the Victoria's Secret show. Like it
- 7:10Speaker 1: was Yeah, truly a pinch me moment. So anyways, that night,
- 7:15Speaker 1: they had a dinner, and I was very nervous, like
- 7:18Speaker 1: very very anxious, very very nervous. And you guys can
- 7:22Speaker 1: probably tell, like I'm a very social person, like a
- 7:24Speaker 1: very social butterfly, like never have an issue with connecting people.
- 7:28Speaker 1: But I was just so nervous going to the event
- 7:30Speaker 1: by myself because I was scared that I was going
- 7:33Speaker 1: to have a hard time connecting with someone. I don't
- 7:35Speaker 1: know why. I just had this really bad feeling in
- 7:39Speaker 1: my stomach, like just a really bad pit in my
- 7:41Speaker 1: stomach before going to the event. And I think that's
- 7:43Speaker 1: very normal to feel nervous when you're going in a
- 7:45Speaker 1: crowd of people that you have no idea who you're meeting.
- 7:48Speaker 1: You don't even know the person that you're texting, you know.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I just know that this girl's name is Gabriella. She
- 7:53Speaker 1: works for Victoria's Secret. That's all I know. So anyways,
- 7:55Speaker 1: you get there and it's like so intimidating because there's
- 7:58Speaker 1: like photographers but you all go or taking photos of
- 8:01Speaker 1: you walking in and you're like I'm smiling and no
- 8:05Speaker 1: idea who these people are and what is happening. Like
- 8:08Speaker 1: it just was a lot just to like have that
- 8:10Speaker 1: in your face as soon as you walk in. But
- 8:12Speaker 1: I'm like trying to say calm, like okay, yeah, photos, fun, whatever,
- 8:16Speaker 1: get in there. And this girl comes up to me
- 8:19Speaker 1: and she's like, Kylee, I'm Gabriella. I'm like, oh thank god,
- 8:21Speaker 1: like okay, I've been texting you. I know who you are.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And anyways, we were talking. She was so sweet and
- 8:28Speaker 1: she's like, you know what, go to the bar. They
- 8:29Speaker 1: are having a lot of free drinks for you guys,
- 8:31Speaker 1: so go grab a drink. I'm like, okay, perfect. And
- 8:33Speaker 1: so I see these two girls standing at the bar
- 8:35Speaker 1: and I thought, okay, the best way to start a
- 8:37Speaker 1: conversation I always find is like complimenting something off someone.
- 8:41Speaker 1: So you're having a hard time, like meeting friends or
- 8:44Speaker 1: just like trying to connect with someone, I always feel
- 8:46Speaker 1: like complimenting someone on something is like the best. And
- 8:48Speaker 1: I actually loved her dress, like it was a truthful comment.
- 8:51Speaker 1: But I do find like complimenting something on someone I
- 8:53Speaker 1: feel like definitely is a great way to start the conversation.
- 8:57Speaker 1: So I said, oh my gosh, I love your dress,
- 8:59Speaker 1: like where's a from? So standing and she was telling
- 9:02Speaker 1: me whatever, and then that's when she was like, oh
- 9:03Speaker 1: my gosh, like I know you, like I follow you.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I was following your wedding. I just got married in
- 9:09Speaker 1: Germany this past August. And anyways, that's how our conversation started.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And she already had met a friend beforehand, so then
- 9:16Speaker 1: I met her friend. So it was a great way
- 9:18Speaker 1: to start the conversation. And then right there the nerves
- 9:21Speaker 1: completely went away because I'm like, okay, amazing, I was
- 9:24Speaker 1: able to connect with someone and they were both so sweet.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And then eventually like more girls started coming in were
- 9:30Speaker 1: connecting all that, and then there was this one Canadian girl.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So basically what happened is that it was two girls
- 9:35Speaker 1: representing each country. So for me, there was one other
- 9:39Speaker 1: Canadian that was representing Canada and Gabriella, who was the
- 9:43Speaker 1: one that worked a victory secret. She was like, okay,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I want to connect you with Julianne. I said, okay, perfect.
- 9:48Speaker 1: She's like, that's the other Canadian. Me and Julianne connected
- 9:50Speaker 1: immediately right off the bat. She's from Montreal. She is
- 9:53Speaker 1: the sweetest human being ever. Oh my gosh. She made
- 9:56Speaker 1: the trip so fun. So it was so great just
- 9:58Speaker 1: to meet a fellow Canadian. And yeah, I again just
- 10:01Speaker 1: very very sweet and welcoming girls. So anyways, that was
- 10:04Speaker 1: our first night. We had our little dinner, and then
- 10:06Speaker 1: the next day was the show day, which I was
- 10:08Speaker 1: so excited about. I woke up, washed my hair, you know,
- 10:11Speaker 1: did all the prepping before getting hair and makeup done.
- 10:14Speaker 1: They had a full team doing our hair and makeup,
- 10:17Speaker 1: which I had known prior to because I had to
- 10:19Speaker 1: obviously find inspo pictures for hair and makeup and all that.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I had two dresses that I planned on wearing for
- 10:26Speaker 1: the Victoria's Secret Show. Like, I didn't know which one
- 10:28Speaker 1: I wanted to wear for the night of, so a
- 10:30Speaker 1: bunch of the girls that I met at the dinner
- 10:32Speaker 1: the night before told me what one to wear, and
- 10:35Speaker 1: personally I kind of agreed, Like I liked the brown
- 10:37Speaker 1: one that I picked just because it was a bit
- 10:38Speaker 1: more sexy and I had a black dress in mine,
- 10:42Speaker 1: but yeah, no, I just decided let's do the brown one.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So my makeup I wanted to do like a brown
- 10:47Speaker 1: smoky eye, and then the Victoria's Secret bombshell hair, which
- 10:50Speaker 1: I'm so happy I got my hair done prior to
- 10:53Speaker 1: that event because it was so easy to do that
- 10:55Speaker 1: blowout look because of my bangs and the chunky layers
- 10:59Speaker 1: that I had turned out so good, and that was
- 11:01Speaker 1: by far the best hair and makeup I've ever gotten
- 11:04Speaker 1: done by professionals. I feel like sometimes I don't know
- 11:06Speaker 1: if you guys can agree to this, but if you
- 11:08Speaker 1: guys get your hair and makeup done professionally or for
- 11:11Speaker 1: an event or anything, I feel like sometimes you always
- 11:13Speaker 1: have to tweak it, you know what I mean. Like
- 11:15Speaker 1: I grew up doing pageants. I don't know if I
- 11:18Speaker 1: ever told you guys that, but I actually was a
- 11:19Speaker 1: pageant girl. So I've gotten my hair and makeup done
- 11:22Speaker 1: multiple times for multiple different events. And then obviously now
- 11:25Speaker 1: being an influencer, I've done a lot of events where
- 11:27Speaker 1: I've had to get my hair and makeup done, wedding
- 11:29Speaker 1: hair and makeup done, so I've gotten my hair and
- 11:31Speaker 1: makeup done a lot, and I've never had such a
- 11:34Speaker 1: good makeup artists and hair like stylist to do my
- 11:38Speaker 1: entire look without me making any touchups. Like usually I
- 11:41Speaker 1: have to touch up my makeup or my hair because
- 11:43Speaker 1: you know, everyone has a little thing where they prefer,
- 11:47Speaker 1: you know, oh I prefer more bronzer, or I prefer
- 11:50Speaker 1: my hair to be less volumeless and a bit more
- 11:52Speaker 1: you know, flat or whatever. So they did everything like
- 11:56Speaker 1: to a tee. So I was very shocked that I
- 11:58Speaker 1: didn't have to make any touch ups and it definitely
- 12:01Speaker 1: made me feel more confident going into the night. And
- 12:03Speaker 1: then after I got my hair on makeup down, I
- 12:05Speaker 1: had like two hours to do some work, so I
- 12:07Speaker 1: ended up shooting some content like get dressed with me.
- 12:10Speaker 1: You guys have probably sew the videos on TikTok, and
- 12:13Speaker 1: then just a little transition video and then as we
- 12:16Speaker 1: were going to the show, you guys are gonna freakin flip.
- 12:20Speaker 1: My phone dies. My phone dies before the freaking runway
- 12:23Speaker 1: because I was filming content throughout the day, right Like
- 12:27Speaker 1: I filmed all this content prior to I didn't have
- 12:30Speaker 1: time to charge it beforehand. Should I have had a
- 12:32Speaker 1: battery pack? Probably like those portable chargers. Did not have
- 12:36Speaker 1: one because every time I buy one from Amazon, it dies.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It never works. So thank goodness, Julienne has a second phone.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I'm like, this is meant to be, Like our friends
- 12:48Speaker 1: was meant to be. Her having a second phone was
- 12:50Speaker 1: meant to be because what happened was is that I
- 12:52Speaker 1: was able to use the second phone throughout the entire
- 12:54Speaker 1: Victoria's Secret Show and get all these videos for my content,
- 12:58Speaker 1: and then I was able to airdrop them to me
- 12:59Speaker 1: once my phone was charged. So truly was so blessed
- 13:03Speaker 1: for Julianne to have had that second phone, and it
- 13:06Speaker 1: made me realize that for these kind of events, when
- 13:09Speaker 1: I'm constantly filming things like I need to either have
- 13:11Speaker 1: a second phone or a charger on me at all
- 13:13Speaker 1: times because you're so go, go go, that you don't
- 13:16Speaker 1: have time to like charge your phone and sit down
- 13:18Speaker 1: and do nothing for like twenty minutes, like you're constantly
- 13:21Speaker 1: on the go. So anyways, that's a little behind the
- 13:24Speaker 1: scenes of what happened, because that was so devastating, but
- 13:27Speaker 1: thankfully she had a backup phone. So anyways, we ended
- 13:30Speaker 1: up walking to the pier and got onto this Victoria's
- 13:32Speaker 1: Secret ferry and we you know, got a bunch of
- 13:35Speaker 1: photos on the ferry, had some snacks, some cocktails, which
- 13:39Speaker 1: takes you to the Victoria's Secret Show, which was at
- 13:43Speaker 1: this like a banded warehouse, I want to say, but
- 13:45Speaker 1: they had obviously all glammed up for the show, and
- 13:48Speaker 1: there was like a pink carpet. So the Victoria's Secret
- 13:50Speaker 1: brand had a professional photographer with us the entire time,
- 13:53Speaker 1: and she would just take photos of us. Okay, Kaylee,
- 13:56Speaker 1: you go, We'll get some photos of you in front
- 13:57Speaker 1: of the pink wall. Next person. All that while you're
- 14:00Speaker 1: on the pink carpet, There's so much going on in
- 14:03Speaker 1: so many celebrities that are there. Like, here's me taking
- 14:06Speaker 1: a photo on that pink wall, and I'm beside Jordan Woods.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Do you guys know who Jordan Woods is. That's Kylie
- 14:11Speaker 1: Jenner's well now, Kylie Jenner's close friend. But anyways, that
- 14:16Speaker 1: was crazy. And then oh, I look behind me and
- 14:20Speaker 1: there's Taiga. I'm like, oh, perfect, okay, great. And then
- 14:23Speaker 1: Dylan Sprouse and Olivia Coppolo were doing interviews at the
- 14:27Speaker 1: time in front of the pink wall, so that was
- 14:29Speaker 1: crazy to see. And then as I'm walking in, I
- 14:32Speaker 1: get on my seat. You know, wow, the views are setting.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I cannot believe I'm third row from the show. Again.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I couldn't stop, like, my mouth just couldn't stop dropping
- 14:41Speaker 1: because I was in so much shock from just like
- 14:43Speaker 1: what the actual hack. I cannot believe I'm here and
- 14:47Speaker 1: I see Carti b and Ice Spice across from me.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my gosh, and then Queen Latita, like
- 14:53Speaker 1: just everyone you could possibly think of that was there,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I was right in front of me. It was just crazy,
- 14:59Speaker 1: and that was probably the the most insane event I've
- 15:01Speaker 1: ever been to. And just seeing the girls in person,
- 15:04Speaker 1: like Candice, Adriana, Barbara, Josephine, Jazz Bella, Gigi, like all
- 15:12Speaker 1: the OG girls that I grew up watching on the show,
- 15:15Speaker 1: like seeing them in person, like I could not stop screaming.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I could not stop like my mouth could stop dropping
- 15:22Speaker 1: because I'm like in complete shock that, like I grew
- 15:26Speaker 1: up watching this show in my basement for like seven years,
- 15:30Speaker 1: and then now that the show is back, I'm at
- 15:35Speaker 1: the live show like it truly was the most pinched
- 15:38Speaker 1: me moment, and I almost had tears coming down my
- 15:41Speaker 1: face just because I would have not been like at
- 15:44Speaker 1: that show without your support. And I'm so grateful for
- 15:48Speaker 1: you guys just listening to the podcast, watching my videos
- 15:51Speaker 1: on TikTok and Instagram and just continuously commenting and like
- 15:54Speaker 1: engaging with my content, like I would not be here
- 15:56Speaker 1: without you guys, And yeah, I just feel so great
- 16:00Speaker 1: rateful for the opportunity, and that was truly one of
- 16:02Speaker 1: the most insane events I've ever been to, and definitely
- 16:06Speaker 1: in the top five for things that have happened this year.
- 16:10Speaker 1: And guys, what's even crazier is that I think I
- 16:13Speaker 1: told you guys that I didn't manifest anything for this event,
- 16:18Speaker 1: obviously because I didn't even know they were bringing it
- 16:20Speaker 1: back this year. But I look on my vision board
- 16:23Speaker 1: now and I see pink Victoria's Secret pjs on my
- 16:27Speaker 1: vision board. It is literally on my vision board like that.
- 16:30Speaker 1: To me right there, it's not screaming Victoria's Secret Fashion Show,
- 16:35Speaker 1: but it is screaming Victoria's Secret. So to me, that's
- 16:38Speaker 1: pretty crazy that that's even on my vision board because
- 16:42Speaker 1: that is totally something that I was not expecting for
- 16:45Speaker 1: this year. So that was a very cool thing to
- 16:49Speaker 1: see on my vision board. So yeah, that was a
- 16:51Speaker 1: bit of a recap of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Truly was a very very fun event. But now let's
- 16:56Speaker 1: talk about a perfect solo day four or a perfect
- 17:00Speaker 1: fall day. So these are some things that I actually
- 17:03Speaker 1: ended up doing while I was in New York for
- 17:05Speaker 1: a full day by myself, and I just want to
- 17:07Speaker 1: talk about solo time because personally, for me, I've always
- 17:12Speaker 1: struggled with being on my own. And I think that's
- 17:14Speaker 1: because I have grown up with the same person for
- 17:18Speaker 1: the past eleven years. So Zach and I, you know,
- 17:20Speaker 1: we never left each other's side when we were younger.
- 17:22Speaker 1: We were always constantly doing things together, hanging out together,
- 17:25Speaker 1: all that. So I feel like there was definitely a
- 17:28Speaker 1: time in my life where I kind of wish I
- 17:30Speaker 1: had more independence, not saying I wish I wasn't with Zach,
- 17:32Speaker 1: but I wish I had the money to live on
- 17:37Speaker 1: my own, you know, during my college days, because I
- 17:41Speaker 1: feel like I would have gained a bit more independence
- 17:43Speaker 1: at that early stage in my life. I feel like
- 17:45Speaker 1: now I've definitely gained a lot more independence. But I
- 17:48Speaker 1: think that's something that I do regret, is not having
- 17:50Speaker 1: a period of my life where I was able to
- 17:52Speaker 1: live alone and just like realize how much responsibility and
- 17:57Speaker 1: I don't know, just again gaining more independence. So if
- 18:00Speaker 1: you're a girl right now that is living alone or
- 18:02Speaker 1: a guy like go, you you are amazing. That is
- 18:05Speaker 1: not easy. There is a lot of work that you
- 18:07Speaker 1: have to do in a home and yeah, just you know,
- 18:11Speaker 1: doing it all yourself is not easy. So I give
- 18:13Speaker 1: you guys a huge pat in the back if you
- 18:16Speaker 1: guys are doing it alone. But I think for me,
- 18:18Speaker 1: I've gained a lot of independence from my career because
- 18:22Speaker 1: I went from an office job where I was constantly
- 18:25Speaker 1: socializing with other people to fully working on my own
- 18:28Speaker 1: and running my own business essentially. And I'm constantly alone
- 18:32Speaker 1: at the house all that, and I've found so many
- 18:35Speaker 1: ways to enjoy my own company and just doing things
- 18:38Speaker 1: that fulfill me and make me happy. So when I
- 18:42Speaker 1: was in New York, I really wanted to have the
- 18:44Speaker 1: most perfect solo day and just doing things that make
- 18:47Speaker 1: me happy and what I enjoy doing. So I thought
- 18:50Speaker 1: I would share with you guys just the perfect itinerary
- 18:53Speaker 1: to do if you're wanting to have a solo day.
- 18:56Speaker 1: The first thing I would do, and I unfortunately didn't
- 18:58Speaker 1: get to do this when I was in New York
- 19:00Speaker 1: because I landed a little too late for this. But
- 19:02Speaker 1: booking a workout class, you guys know I love a
- 19:05Speaker 1: good workout class. I am constantly going to a workout
- 19:07Speaker 1: class by myself, and I've met so many people through
- 19:11Speaker 1: my workout classes, which have been so fun to connect
- 19:15Speaker 1: with people through pilates and spin CoA. It's also a
- 19:17Speaker 1: great way to meet friends. So if you're someone that's
- 19:19Speaker 1: moving to a new city and you don't know how
- 19:21Speaker 1: to meet new people, I feel like a workout class
- 19:24Speaker 1: is literally the best to connect with people and find,
- 19:28Speaker 1: you know, things that you may have in common, especially
- 19:30Speaker 1: because if you're going to the same class you know
- 19:32Speaker 1: every week. You know, if you're going to the same
- 19:35Speaker 1: time slot every Tuesday and Thursday, you're going at nine thirty,
- 19:37Speaker 1: and you see one girl that's constantly at the same
- 19:39Speaker 1: classes as you at nine thirty, you might be able
- 19:42Speaker 1: to find a connection with her and you know, meet
- 19:44Speaker 1: her and all that. So that's what I've done. A
- 19:46Speaker 1: lot of the girls that I go to to pilates
- 19:49Speaker 1: are constantly going to the same time slot as me,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and I've been able to connect with them and meet
- 19:54Speaker 1: them and become friends with them. So that's also a
- 19:56Speaker 1: good way to meet new people. But I love going
- 19:58Speaker 1: to solo workout class is in my opinion, they're the best,
- 20:01Speaker 1: So find a studio near you. When I was in
- 20:04Speaker 1: New York, I would have loved to book a workout class,
- 20:06Speaker 1: but I truly did not have the time. But I
- 20:08Speaker 1: also love traveling and going to different workout studios and
- 20:12Speaker 1: trying different things because I think it allows you to realize, Okay,
- 20:17Speaker 1: do I actually like this kind of workout or not?
- 20:19Speaker 1: You know what I mean. Like, I've been really wanting
- 20:21Speaker 1: to try boxing. That's something that's been on my mind
- 20:24Speaker 1: for the past few weeks and something that I've been
- 20:26Speaker 1: wanting to try. So I feel like maybe when I
- 20:29Speaker 1: travel next that might be a good opportunity just to
- 20:32Speaker 1: try a boxing class somewhere. So yeah, or here doesn't
- 20:35Speaker 1: have to be when you're traveling, but yeah, I thought
- 20:38Speaker 1: that was a really good thing to start off the day.
- 20:41Speaker 1: With another thing you're going to do for your perfect
- 20:43Speaker 1: solo days, You're going to hit up your favorite coffee shop.
- 20:46Speaker 1: This is a must. You guys know how much I
- 20:49Speaker 1: love just going to a coffee shop, getting my coffee,
- 20:52Speaker 1: reading a book or working, or even listening to a podcast,
- 20:55Speaker 1: whatever pleases you. But for me, there was one coffee
- 20:59Speaker 1: shop that I had to go to in New York
- 21:00Speaker 1: because it is my favorite coffee shop. There's just places
- 21:03Speaker 1: in New York that I have in a list that
- 21:05Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, whenever I travel here, I have to
- 21:07Speaker 1: go here for coffee, I have to go here for lunch,
- 21:10Speaker 1: I have to go here for dinner. Like I just
- 21:11Speaker 1: have go to spots that I constantly want to go
- 21:13Speaker 1: to when I'm traveling there. So as soon as I landed,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I knew I wanted to go to Blank Street. That
- 21:18Speaker 1: is my favorite coffee shop in New York, and they
- 21:20Speaker 1: have the best oat milk vanilla latte. It's truly my favorite.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So that's what I did, and I sat there, got
- 21:28Speaker 1: a bit of work done, had my coffee. It was
- 21:30Speaker 1: just a nice little vibe. And then I ended up
- 21:33Speaker 1: going on a hawkgirl walk and I just put on
- 21:35Speaker 1: my favorite podcasts. You can also put on music whatever
- 21:38Speaker 1: makes you happy. And I ended up walking around Soho
- 21:41Speaker 1: and the weather was so stunning. And what I love
- 21:45Speaker 1: about New York around this time of the year is
- 21:47Speaker 1: that it's usually warm, well warmer than here, like here
- 21:51Speaker 1: is always a little bit cooler, so it was quite warm,
- 21:54Speaker 1: but seeing like the leaves changing and just the trees
- 21:58Speaker 1: and the leaves on the ground, like truly just like
- 22:01Speaker 1: romanticizing a little fall moment with that walk and being
- 22:05Speaker 1: in Soho, like, oh my gosh, like truly a dream
- 22:08Speaker 1: come true and it was so so stunning out. So
- 22:12Speaker 1: I love going on a walk during the fall season
- 22:15Speaker 1: because of the leaves changing and the views and all that.
- 22:18Speaker 1: It feels so homey. And yeah, I truly just loved
- 22:22Speaker 1: every second of that walk. It was very enjoyable. And
- 22:25Speaker 1: then I always love to treat myself on a little
- 22:28Speaker 1: solo date, so whether it's treating yourself to a coffee,
- 22:33Speaker 1: or it could be some shopping. So when I was
- 22:35Speaker 1: in New York, I ended up going shopping and I
- 22:37Speaker 1: got a little candle to bring home with me. But
- 22:40Speaker 1: it doesn't have to be a candle. It could be
- 22:42Speaker 1: a bouquet of flowers. It could be a new book,
- 22:44Speaker 1: it could be so many things. But there's a new
- 22:47Speaker 1: beautiful shop called I think it's called dip Teque. I
- 22:50Speaker 1: think that's how you pronounce the brand. It's like a
- 22:52Speaker 1: high end candle shop. And I've actually never seen this
- 22:56Speaker 1: store before when I was walking around in New York,
- 22:58Speaker 1: so I ended up going in and ended up getting
- 23:01Speaker 1: a candle because I love their candles so much. The
- 23:04Speaker 1: scents are so good. So I ended up treating myself
- 23:08Speaker 1: to a little candle on my walk and yeah, hit
- 23:11Speaker 1: up some shopping. I tried not to buy too much
- 23:14Speaker 1: when I was down there. I actually didn't buy anything
- 23:16Speaker 1: except that candle because when I packed, I decided to
- 23:20Speaker 1: pack a carry on, so I did not have much space.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Because I clearly overpack every single time I travel, I
- 23:27Speaker 1: feel like that's in need. I just always overpack because
- 23:30Speaker 1: you never know what you're gonna end up doing. If
- 23:32Speaker 1: someone's like, yeah, we're going out to a fancy dinner
- 23:35Speaker 1: and I don't have a fancy dinner outfit, it's a
- 23:37Speaker 1: good thing I overpacked because I have a fancy dinner outfit.
- 23:40Speaker 1: So that's the way I see overpacking. It's not about
- 23:43Speaker 1: like packing too many outfits. It's about, okay, well what
- 23:46Speaker 1: are we doing if we don't have a game plan.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I need to have an outfit for something that could happen. Right,
- 23:52Speaker 1: if there's a nice, fancy dinner, I need to have
- 23:54Speaker 1: an outfit for that possibility of going out for a
- 23:57Speaker 1: nice dinner. Like, I don't know if anyone else is
- 23:59Speaker 1: like that, but that's how I map out my outfits
- 24:02Speaker 1: when I'm packing is the emergency outfits. So anyways, I
- 24:07Speaker 1: always overpack, so I had no space to go shopping.
- 24:11Speaker 1: So we did not go shopping, but I did have
- 24:13Speaker 1: space for a candle. Another thing I love to do
- 24:15Speaker 1: on like a solo date is grabbing your favorite sweet
- 24:18Speaker 1: treet or going to your favorite lunch spot. So I love, love,
- 24:23Speaker 1: love love a sweet treat after lunch. So I always
- 24:26Speaker 1: have a huge sweet tooth even after dinner, like I
- 24:29Speaker 1: need something sweet, whether it's a pastry or chocolate, anything sweet. Honestly,
- 24:33Speaker 1: I just need. And I ended up picking up a
- 24:36Speaker 1: pumpkin scone. But honestly, I love any kind of pastry
- 24:39Speaker 1: in the fall, like anything is good to me. I
- 24:41Speaker 1: just always crave pastry specifically whenever I'm in the fall season,
- 24:47Speaker 1: and then I head up my favorite lunch spot. I love,
- 24:50Speaker 1: love love sweet Green. Sweet Green is something that we
- 24:53Speaker 1: don't have here. If you guys don't know what that is.
- 24:55Speaker 1: It's like a salad and bowl place. I find it's
- 24:58Speaker 1: very similar to mad Radish, which is what we have
- 25:01Speaker 1: here in Canada. So that's why I think I love
- 25:05Speaker 1: Sweagreen is because it's very similar to that. I don't
- 25:08Speaker 1: really have a go to bowl. I kind of usually
- 25:10Speaker 1: get their special or I'll get the chicken avocado ranch,
- 25:15Speaker 1: So I guess that would be my go to order
- 25:17Speaker 1: if I don't like what the special is currently. So yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 1: so I went there, I got some lunch, I had
- 25:24Speaker 1: my pastry. Just yeah. Love just treating myself to a
- 25:29Speaker 1: good old takeout meal. Another thing I love to do
- 25:32Speaker 1: during my solo time is I always love to find
- 25:35Speaker 1: a cute little work spot to get work done. So
- 25:38Speaker 1: the hotel we were staying at, at the Public's Hotel,
- 25:41Speaker 1: they had such nice work areas. So if you wanted
- 25:44Speaker 1: to bring your laptop and get work done there, you
- 25:47Speaker 1: did not have to see at the hotel. You just
- 25:49Speaker 1: had to show up and you would just go up
- 25:52Speaker 1: in the work area and there was like just like
- 25:55Speaker 1: different cubicles and you could get some work done there.
- 25:58Speaker 1: So that's where I was getting a lot of my
- 26:00Speaker 1: work done, and it was very enjoyable just to be
- 26:03Speaker 1: in a very nice ambiance. I felt like it was
- 26:05Speaker 1: very motivating and very enjoyable. So yeah, that's where I
- 26:09Speaker 1: got some work done during the day. And I feel
- 26:11Speaker 1: like finding cute work spots. So if you're the kind
- 26:13Speaker 1: of person that wants to change up the environment, even
- 26:16Speaker 1: for me, like I'm constantly working in the same spot
- 26:18Speaker 1: at my house, but I would like to, you know,
- 26:20Speaker 1: get out more, find new work spots, go to coffee shops,
- 26:23Speaker 1: get work done there. Like I don't know, I find
- 26:24Speaker 1: it's nice to be in a social environment and not
- 26:28Speaker 1: constantly being alone in one spot, So going to coffee shops,
- 26:32Speaker 1: going to libraries, like finding just nice areas that you
- 26:35Speaker 1: can get work done, like hotels. I know there's some
- 26:37Speaker 1: hotels in Ottawa that also have workspaces for you to
- 26:40Speaker 1: get work done. It's just not exactly very remotely close
- 26:43Speaker 1: to where I live, so it's not the best for me.
- 26:47Speaker 1: But if you live in like the Westboro area or
- 26:49Speaker 1: downtown Ottawa, there's definitely a lot of nice hotels that
- 26:52Speaker 1: you can get some work done. But in New York
- 26:54Speaker 1: there is so many nice work spots because there's so
- 26:57Speaker 1: many nice hotels. And I think it's because, you know,
- 27:00Speaker 1: a lot of people are traveling for work, so having
- 27:03Speaker 1: those work environments at hotels for business people that are traveling,
- 27:07Speaker 1: it gives them a spot to get some work done.
- 27:09Speaker 1: So anyways, the whole Victoria's Secret Headquarters employees were on
- 27:13Speaker 1: this trip, so a lot of the time I would
- 27:15Speaker 1: see the whole team just getting work done in this area,
- 27:19Speaker 1: so it was. Yeah, it was really cool and just
- 27:21Speaker 1: a nice ambiance to get some work done. If I
- 27:24Speaker 1: was home, I would have done this. But I always
- 27:26Speaker 1: love to end a solo day with cooking a fancy
- 27:29Speaker 1: dinner for yourself. I am that kind of person that
- 27:32Speaker 1: always loves to recreate, like famous TikTok dinners or even
- 27:36Speaker 1: just like fall inspired dinners that I find on Pinterests.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I always usually have a bunch of recipes saved on
- 27:42Speaker 1: my Pinterest or even you know, recipes that I find
- 27:46Speaker 1: through TikTok or reels. I just save it in a
- 27:49Speaker 1: dinner folder with Zach, So we actually ended up trying
- 27:52Speaker 1: a dinner the other night from our dinner saved folder
- 27:57Speaker 1: and it was a butternut squash yuki. Guys. Oh my gosh,
- 28:01Speaker 1: this was insane. It was so good. I literally want
- 28:05Speaker 1: to remake it again this weekend. It was amazing. So
- 28:08Speaker 1: things like that. I just always love trying new things,
- 28:11Speaker 1: love a good tomato soup anything. Really. Yeah, fall inspired
- 28:14Speaker 1: is really something I crave during the fall season. Obviously,
- 28:18Speaker 1: I just love making fall inspired dinners. But that butternut
- 28:21Speaker 1: squash nookie was amazing. But I do have a lot
- 28:24Speaker 1: of good recipes that I've saved that I want to
- 28:25Speaker 1: make as well. So anyways, I'm very excited to cook
- 28:29Speaker 1: another fancy meal. Anyways, because I was in New York,
- 28:32Speaker 1: obviously I couldn't cook a fancy meal. But these are
- 28:34Speaker 1: things that I plan to do for my perfect fall
- 28:37Speaker 1: day itinerary. The next thing is doing my self care
- 28:40Speaker 1: at night routine, just doing a face mask, having a
- 28:44Speaker 1: hot shower, your skincare products. Like you guys know how
- 28:48Speaker 1: much I cherish my night routine, Lading a candle, having
- 28:51Speaker 1: a tea, you know, setting time aside to watch your
- 28:54Speaker 1: favorite TV show or a movie. Right now, Zach and
- 28:58Speaker 1: I are obsessed with One Tree Hill, like obsessed. I'm
- 29:02Speaker 1: fully invested in the show. I have not seen this
- 29:05Speaker 1: show in like I want to say, like twelve years.
- 29:09Speaker 1: It's been a very long time, and I just forgot
- 29:12Speaker 1: how good the show was. So I'm very happy that
- 29:15Speaker 1: Zach's into it as well. We've been obsessed with it.
- 29:17Speaker 1: But having those little things in your night routine, I
- 29:20Speaker 1: don't know, I feel like it truly is very therapeutic
- 29:22Speaker 1: and I feel so good doing it, you know, having
- 29:25Speaker 1: my tea, cleaning up the house, making sure everything is
- 29:28Speaker 1: organized and then heading to bed, Like I feel like
- 29:30Speaker 1: it just puts everything like in my mind aside. Like
- 29:34Speaker 1: I just find it's a great way to distress, you
- 29:36Speaker 1: know what I mean. Like, I don't know if anyone
- 29:37Speaker 1: else feels that way, but I just find it so
- 29:39Speaker 1: therapeutic and distressing, and I feel very peaceful going to
- 29:43Speaker 1: bed knowing that I got everything done, and then waking
- 29:45Speaker 1: up in the morning having everything cleaned organized all that.
- 29:50Speaker 1: It just, I don't know, it puts my mind at
- 29:52Speaker 1: ease and I feel good going into the day. So lately,
- 29:55Speaker 1: I just have been really enjoying my night routine honestly
- 29:58Speaker 1: more than my morning routine. To be on, I feel
- 30:00Speaker 1: like my morning routine it's great, but I don't know,
- 30:03Speaker 1: I feel like in the fall, maybe that's why I
- 30:04Speaker 1: feel like my night routine just hits different and it
- 30:07Speaker 1: feels so good. And then lastly, as I said, just
- 30:10Speaker 1: watching your favorite Halloween movie or Fall movie or TV show.
- 30:14Speaker 1: As I said, we're watching One Tree Hill, so that's
- 30:16Speaker 1: currently what we've been obsessed with. But I would say
- 30:19Speaker 1: my favorite Halloween movie would probably be The Screams, Like
- 30:24Speaker 1: it's not really a horror movie. In my opinion, it's
- 30:26Speaker 1: more of like a funny horror movie, I guess, but
- 30:30Speaker 1: I do love the Scream series. I also love Michael Myers.
- 30:33Speaker 1: That's a horror movie. I don't know, like I grew
- 30:37Speaker 1: up watching a lot of horror movies because I feel
- 30:40Speaker 1: like Zach and I always loved that. But yeah, just
- 30:44Speaker 1: like movies like that, I find are always fun to
- 30:46Speaker 1: watch during spooky season, not exactly cozy season. Oh my gosh,
- 30:51Speaker 1: Harry Potter. I would say Harry Potter is a Fall
- 30:54Speaker 1: slash Halloween like movie to watch. Or Twilight. Twilet's really
- 30:59Speaker 1: good as well. But yeah, those would be probably my
- 31:02Speaker 1: favorite movies, and that's what I usually rewatched during this
- 31:07Speaker 1: time of year because they're just og good movies that
- 31:10Speaker 1: you need to watch. That would be like my perfect
- 31:13Speaker 1: solo itinerary for the perfect full day. But I hope
- 31:17Speaker 1: this episode was inspiring for you guys, for people who
- 31:20Speaker 1: you know, want to spend more alone time or just
- 31:23Speaker 1: enjoy their own company spending more solo time. I feel
- 31:26Speaker 1: like this trip was a very eye opening experience for
- 31:29Speaker 1: me because, as I said, I feel like there was,
- 31:32Speaker 1: you know, some independence that I felt like I never
- 31:35Speaker 1: gained at a younger age, and I feel like now
- 31:38Speaker 1: that I've had a lot of opportunities with my job
- 31:41Speaker 1: to be a bit more independent has been extremely ie
- 31:45Speaker 1: opening and just it feels good to have that independence
- 31:48Speaker 1: a bit more because I really think I struggled at
- 31:50Speaker 1: a period of time in my life, especially in like
- 31:52Speaker 1: my you know, early twenties, I feel like I didn't
- 31:54Speaker 1: really have that much independence. So yeah, I feel like
- 31:58Speaker 1: now I've definitely gained a lot, and I think this
- 32:00Speaker 1: trip was just a great thing for me and to
- 32:03Speaker 1: get out of my comfort zone meet new people, and
- 32:05Speaker 1: meeting those new people was such a yeah, a great
- 32:09Speaker 1: opportunity for me, and I feel like I definitely feel
- 32:11Speaker 1: more comfortable now going on to my next trip or
- 32:14Speaker 1: you know, when I do get invited to another brand
- 32:16Speaker 1: trip and I have to do it alone, like I
- 32:17Speaker 1: feel like I will be able to not feel the
- 32:20Speaker 1: nerves as much, not feel you know, the anxiety that
- 32:23Speaker 1: I was feeling, because it allowed me to realize how
- 32:26Speaker 1: comfortable I am being on my own and that I
- 32:29Speaker 1: can you know, connect with people and you have no
- 32:32Speaker 1: issues with it. So yeah, it was just a very
- 32:36Speaker 1: eye opening experience and I'm very happy that I had
- 32:39Speaker 1: the opportunity to do that, so yeah. But anyways, I
- 32:42Speaker 1: hope you guys enjoyed this episode. Victoria's Secret was truly
- 32:46Speaker 1: the most amazing time and I wanted to share with
- 32:48Speaker 1: you guys because it was such a cool experience. But
- 32:52Speaker 1: I love you all so much. Thank you guys for
- 32:53Speaker 1: listening to another episode, and I will see you guys
