- 1:30Theme Song: It's an excellent day to get swept away in a tale, so let us regale you.
- 1:43Redge: Ooh, Jonathan, Jonathan!
- 1:45Jonathan: What's up, Redge?
- 1:46Redge: Jonathan, meet my new friend here.
- 1:49Jonathan: Oh, ah, sorry I didn't see you there on Reggie's back.
- 1:53Chris: Oh, no worries.
- 1:55Chris: I am pretty small.
- 1:57Redge: Yes, my new friend, Chris the Snail, hitched a ride on my quills as I ran to your home.
- 2:03Redge: Chris, this is my good friend Jonathan.
- 2:07Redge: He's a human.
- 2:09Chris: Ah, so I see.
- 2:11Chris: Hello, Jonathan.
- 2:13Jonathan: Nice to meet you, Chris.
- 2:14Jonathan: I love your shell.
- 2:16Chris: Oh heh, thank you.
- 2:18Redge: Chris is new to the forest and was telling me about his struggles with making friends.
- 2:24Jonathan: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, Chris.
- 2:26Chris: Well, it is nice to be around such a good example of friendship with you two.
- 2:31Chris: In fact, the whole folktale forest is nice.
- 2:34Chris: But I'm a bit too nervous to make too many new friends, aside from Reginald here.
- 2:40Chris: I have yet to find the courage to, as they say, come out of my shell.
- 2:47Redge: I was thinking you could tell Chris that story you told me, to help him feel more confident in his shell.
- 2:55Jonathan: Oh, uh well, I've told you a lot of stories.
- 3:00Redge: Yes, yes, of course.
- 3:01Redge: But I'm talking about that one story.
- 3:04Redge: You know?
- 3:05Redge: That one.
- 3:07Jonathan: Which one?
- 3:09Redge: The one with the main character, who does the thing and then learns the thing from doing that thing.
- 3:18Jonathan: Uh I uh I'm going to need a few more specifics here, Redge.
- 3:24Redge: No, come on now! It's the one You know the one
- 3:31Jonathan: Yeah, any details would be
- 3:33Redge: Ah yes! I finally remember The Malleable Tailor
- 3:41Jonathan: Uh
- 3:43Redge: Yes, Jonathan?
- 3:44Jonathan: I don't think that's it.
- 3:48Redge: The valuable tailor
- 3:51Jonathan: nope, not it either.
- 3:53Redge: The Valley Hen Taylor!
- 3:55Jonathan: Oh you mean the Valiant Tailor
- 3:59Redge: Valiant?
- 4:01Jonathan: Oh, that means brave, courageous, and a tailor is someone who makes and alters clothes.
- 4:08Redge: No, it's definitely the Valley Hen Taylor.
- 4:11Redge: I know her.
- 4:14Jonathan: The Valley Hen Taylor?
- 4:16Redge: Yes.
- 4:17Redge: She lives in between two mountains, the valley.
- 4:21Redge: She's a female chicken, a hen, and her name is Taylor.
- 4:28Taylor: Like, did someone say my name?
- 4:30Taylor: Cluck!
- 4:32Redge: See, Jonathan?
- 4:34Jonathan: I stand corrected.
- 4:36Redge: Valley hen Taylor, it is I, Reginald.
- 4:40Redge: And here's Jonathan and our new friend Chris.
- 4:44Chris: Hi.
- 4:45Redge: Jonathan and I were about to share your story to help Chris find the courage to make new friends in a new home.
- 4:53Taylor: Oh, OMG, Cluck.
- 4:56Jonathan: Well, let's all gather round and listen to Redge's story.
- 4:59Jonathan: About you, Taylor.
- 5:02Taylor: Awesome, like tubular.
- 5:05Chris: I'm ready.
- 5:06Redge: Once upon a time, there was a valley hen named Taylor.
- 5:11Redge: Cluck! She was a seamstress and a student, who, in spite of her gregarious demeanour, was actually quite shy.
- 5:21Redge: She had trouble talking to other barnyard animals.
- 5:26Taylor: And it's like really hard to talk to people sometimes, cluck.
- 5:30Chris: I couldn't agree more.
- 5:33Redge: One morning, Taylor did something amazing.
- 5:37Taylor: I like caught six grains of feed in my beak at the same time.
- 5:43Redge: She was so proud.
- 5:45Redge: Never before did she have that much trust in herself.
- 5:49Redge: She knew the surrounding creatures would agree if they only knew.
- 5:54Redge: So she started singing her own praises.
- 5:58Taylor: Six and one, like six and one And the giants in the hillside heard of her feat.
- 6:07Chris: Giants Oh I'm way smaller than a giant.
- 6:12Taylor: Totally, like me too, cluck.
- 6:15Chris: Oh my.
- 6:16Redge: When the giants heard they had a new neighbor that did something so absolutely
- 6:23Taylor: radical
- 6:25Redge: Yes, radical.
- 6:27Redge: They wanted to throw a massive welcome to the neighborhood party.
- 6:32Redge: Complete with a celebration of this awesome feat.
- 6:36Redge: But Taylor was feeling shy about attending.
- 6:40Taylor: It was like totally terrifying.
- 6:42Taylor: I kept trying to think of ways I could trick the giants into liking me, showering them with compliments, trying to look super duper cool, anything I could think of that would fool them.
- 6:54Jonathan: So is that what you did, Taylor?
- 6:56Taylor: Actually, I just realized, cluck, that I needed to be myself.
- 7:01Chris: But how?
- 7:03Redge: Taylor went through three scary trials to prove to herself that she belonged with the Barnyard Buddies and the Hillside Giants.
- 7:13Redge: And that her six in one was worth the celebration.
- 7:19Chris: Trials?
- 7:20Redge: Yes.
- 7:21Redge: The terrifying trials of talking to new neighbors.
- 7:26Chris: Oh, what are those?
- 7:29Taylor: There are like three of them.
- 7:31Taylor: The first was to believe in myself.
- 7:34Redge: Which is harder than it looks.
- 7:36Redge: Taylor had to call on some of the things she always really loved about herself.
- 7:42Redge: To remind her that she was awesome just as is.
- 7:47Taylor: I'm like really kind, I'm really smart, I love to paint barnyard landscapes.
- 7:52Taylor: Oh, and I'm really good at catching feet with my beak.
- 7:56Jonathan: Those are all awesome.
- 7:59Redge: Then the second trial.
- 8:02Taylor: The most terrifying trials of all.
- 8:05Redge: Taylor had to go to the party and say hello
- 8:12Chris: No.
- 8:13Taylor & Redge: Like yes.
- 8:15Redge: She reminded herself once again, she was awesome as is, and had achieved some awesome things.
- 8:23Redge: Waddled her little hen legs right up the hills, and when she arrived, one of the giants said,
- 8:31Giant: Hello!
- 8:33Redge: And do you know what Taylor said in return?
- 8:37Chris: Uh nothing at all.
- 8:39Chris: She ran away due to f fear.
- 8:43Redge: She held her head high and clucked loud enough for them to hear
- 8:49Taylor: like hello.
- 8:51Chris: Wow.
- 8:53Taylor: And they were really nice.
- 8:54Taylor: They all introduced themselves to me after we said hello.
- 8:58Taylor: I got to meet Gizmo, Stomp, Crasher, and Bob.
- 9:03Redge: And Bob makes the most excellent scones.
- 9:07Taylor: I know, right?
- 9:08Taylor: And they gave me a welcome basket and a little certificate to remember the six and one.
- 9:14Chris: Oh, but wait, that was only two trials.
- 9:18Chris: Uh trying to remind yourself that you're awesome just the way you are.
- 9:22Chris: And going to the party, even though you were nervous to say hello.
- 9:27Chris: What was the third trial?
- 9:30Taylor & Redge: Dancing!
- 9:32Chris: Dancing?
- 9:33Redge: That's right.
- 9:34Redge: Taylor didn't know until she got there that it was going to turn into a dance party.
- 9:40Giant: Come on, everyone! Let's boogie!
- 9:47Taylor: Like, oh no, I couldn't.
- 9:49Taylor: What if I make a fool of myself?
- 9:51Chris: What if you trip and fall?
- 9:54Taylor: What if I'm off beat?
- 9:56Chris: What if everyone looks at you?
- 10:01Redge: These were all of the thoughts going through Taylor's mind.
- 10:05Taylor: But all of the gyrating, dancing giants looked like they were having so much fun.
- 10:11Jonathan: And they already showed you how accepting and welcoming they were.
- 10:15Jonathan: Especially when you were brave enough to show them who you are.
- 10:19Redge: That's right.
- 10:20Redge: So guess what Taylor did?
- 10:24Chris: Uh danced?
- 10:27Taylor: Like no one was watching.
- 10:28Taylor: Whee!
- 10:38Redge: Bravo! When Taylor believed in herself,
- 10:42Jonathan: and those around her accepted her for who she is,
- 10:46Chris: she made so many wonderful friends.
- 10:50Taylor: Like exactly, cluck.
- 10:52Redge: So what do you think, Chris?
- 10:55Chris: Huh.
- 10:55Chris: It sounds like sometimes you may be frightened, and the fear is very real, but it doesn't mean what you're afraid of will come true.
- 11:06Jonathan: Exactly.
- 11:07Jonathan: And
- 11:09Taylor: just believing in yourself can be the first step towards confidence, cluck.
- 11:13Jonathan: We can also be good friends and help others overcome their fear by accepting them for who they are.
- 11:19Jonathan: And I hope we are doing that for you right now, Chris.
- 11:22Taylor: Like you've got another new friend in me, cluck.
- 11:25Chris: Uh gee.
- 11:26Chris: Thanks.
- 11:27Chris: Oh, you'll have to teach me some of your dance moves.
- 11:31Taylor: Totally.
- 11:32Taylor: My dancing is now the highlight of any giant's big party.
- 11:36Taylor: I can show you, Chris.
- 11:39Chris: Alright.
- 11:43Taylor: Everyone step to the left, step to the right.
- 11:46Taylor: Flap your wings and bring them in tight.
- 11:50Redge: Bob your head and tap your toes.
- 11:52Jonathan: Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your nose.
- 11:55Chris: Uh, this all may be a bit too advanced for me.
- 11:59Chris: So maybe I'll just slide around to the beat.
- 12:04Redge: Let's all do the electric slime.
- 12:07Taylor: Radical!
- 12:09Jonathan: I love this move.
- 12:12Chris: You're all snailing it.
- 12:16Jonathan: Attaboy, Chris.
