- 0:00SPEAKER_02: There's a great big beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: Shining at the end of every day.
- 0:08SPEAKER_02: There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: Just a dream.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Hello and welcome to Of Mice and Main Street men.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: I am Tristan.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: And I am Sean.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, and we've made it.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: It was a little rough there first.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: We did.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: It was bumpy.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: It was bumpy.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Our first attempt was bumpy.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: But boy, howdy, I bet this one will be ever so much better.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we had some internet woes here.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Uh, but we think we've worked it out, and all is and uh we're just gonna press on for better.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: We're gonna make like a nail and press on.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And uh what we're talking about Well, yeah, because you just you just got back from the mouse itself.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: I did just get back, and for those that were confused about that, I apologize on the the previous couple episodes.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I thought it was airing differently than it was, and well, you'll have to talk to our tech team about that.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: I know I'll have to talk to the guy that handles that because he doesn't do it well.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Um, but I was in there just this past week for Easter weekend, which uh ended up being uh busier than Christmas time, actually, which was wild, but great time.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: But I will say, and Harper and I are gonna hopefully record something about it so you guys can hear about it.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: But you and Jens would be so excited because I heard after the first day of like park open to park close, where we went pretty hard.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Harper goes, Hey, can we try something different in the next three or four days?
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: Where we would go to the parks in the morning, we might sleep in, who knows?
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: We'd take an afternoon break at the resort, and then we would go back in the evenings.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: And it was amazing.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Look at you stopping and smelling mice.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: I will say it did take me a second to be like, okay, I guess that's okay, we can do that.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: The difference was I wasn't paying for park tickets, so like I didn't feel any pressure.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: Oh right.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: And so, but it's it's true.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: But the difference was we were staying at Coronado Springs, which was lovely, and I felt the same way last year when we stayed in Animal Kingdom.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: I would love it, would be lovely to spend time at a resort when you're staying at someplace like that.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: And yeah, you know, we're all star people, and Harper did mention he told me one day, and I think I texted you, you did.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Uh uh Dad, does this mean we don't have to stay at the all-stars anymore?
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: And I I said, I said, Oh, hold on, let's not demean them.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Like I still there's still a place to lay your head at night on Disney property, but yeah, yeah.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: It's it's a little hard to go.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: It's like, you know, like the song in Ragtime says, you can never go back to the all-stars.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Yes, the Disney version of ragtime.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Uh with with the singing rags, yeah.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: With the singing and dancing rags.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: It's like Fantasy, but yeah, and then and then Cogworth Cogsworth makes an appearance to be the time in ragtime.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: It's very it's clever.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, I see.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, wow.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: And yeah, wow.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: That yes, wow.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, one thing I don't oh, well, you do know because we talked about it before you went, is the whole idea of uh I I after swearing like four years ago, Jackie and I swore we'd never go back to the ultimate fan event.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: But guess who bought their tickets to the ultimate fan event?
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: I know that's exciting.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: It's very exciting.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry it will not work out to go with you this year.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: That would be sad.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: I know I did try to work it out, but there is it's a year of it's one of those summers where we have a wedding every other weekend, and on top of that, we are going, we're taking a Disney trip, of course.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and there's just uh some other things that may come up that and there's something else in July, and it was like we were trying to work it out in our brains, and yes, and also Savannah leaves back going back to Toronto for rehearsal that week, yeah.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: And so she well, you know, we will take our on the spot correspondent Kimberly with us this time.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: I know, I'm so excited.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: I I'm a little you're excited, I could hear her squee across the state.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: It's very exciting.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: I uh like I was so excited because I was like, oh my gosh, this might actually work out.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: And then as I got to talking about it with Sav, I was like, oh no, we can't do this at all.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: I know, but well, we'll well, I will because I will say now I had the cushy position of getting to go in as a charter member, which I uh this I for the first time I honestly felt like I was getting something for being a charter member because my anxiety level was at a much more manageable level.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Because, you know, I popped in at the, you know, at on Tuesday before they went on sale on Thursday was when charter members could do it.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: And I was like literally 595th in line, but you know, I quickly did the math and was like, well, that should be okay for for the for the Honda Center.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: And the fact I didn't realize that you're actually reserving a specific seat at the Honda Center for each day.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's crazy.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that I with the with the three-day ticket.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, now I know how it works, but yeah, you go in there and you pick that your seats, and then they're attached to convention badges and stuff too.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: But um, now I hear the three days sold out pretty fast once once they went on to the general public.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: My dad got an email because of course he got a free membership being having Disney Plus, and he was all excited.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And he was like, I got an email on Friday that said tickets were available.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: I'm like, yeah, the$49 afternoon only tickets and a few of the single days.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but the three days disappeared pretty quickly.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: So that's just to say I'm very excited, and Kimberly is is squeeing all the way home.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Well, and it's her first time at Disneyland, too.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: So what a way to do that.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: That's for her.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Um, is anybody else going with you guys, or is it just the the three of you guys?
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Nope, nope, and we will just be finishing up our New Mexico contract.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: So so Jackie and I are actually going to drive to Denver and then fly from Denver to to LAX.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: And then we'll fly back to Denver and finish the drive home.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: So well, good for you guys.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Well, that's very exciting.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: I'm excited that you get to go.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: I'm a little jealous, but I just I couldn't make it make sense.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: You know, I hear you.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: There's there'll be others, I promise.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: There will be.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: There will be.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: So um yeah.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: Well, let's get into what we're talking about here today.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: We're talking about for better and for worse while Disney World edition.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Our marriage episode.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: For better or for worse.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: Well, and it's one of those things, you know, we all we always talk about how Disney World is never really complete, if you will, but it's it's evolving, ever, ever evolving, ever changing.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: It's not static, you know, and sometimes it's changing to make everything smoother, sometimes making things a little more bumpy.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: But you know, that's just part of the deal.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: And I will I will be curious to hear these lists from you.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: I will be too, and uh to see, and I think some changes, as we'll discuss, have like genuinely genuinely like reduced stress, and sometimes uh chipped away at a convenience, as as as I'm sure people are prepared for us to talk about a certain thing.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: But um, we're gonna kind of I I'm not even gonna I'm not I'm just flat out going that can't be one of the five.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: If you made it one of your five, you have to come up with something else now.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Because I did, but but because I think we understood.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: I came up with four other things, but anyway.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Um uh yeah, we're gonna take a balanced look at both sides, and because the world is on fire, uh let's start with the good because there's enough bad in the world at the moment, and that's all right.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: As long as it's somewhere in there we flip and we end with good, I think we should always end with good.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure that we will, you know.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: All right, but let's let's kind of dig into it.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: What's one of the things on your list that that have made uh the Walt Disney World experience, you know, better, in your opinion?
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Well, we've we've discussed this many a time, I think, but but I just remember how viscerally I was like, what do you mean there's gonna be these gondolas that will take us around the property?
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: It's like that's not Disney transportation.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Where are our buses?
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: And I just I mean, you and I both love the Skyliner now, virtually everybody does.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's just such a pleasant way to move around.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: But I remember when they first announced it, going, What is going on?
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: What is this?
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: And you know, I still think probably my heart lies with the monorail system, but thanks, Orlando, for telling Disney they could have no more bus exhaust in the atmosphere and Disney having to think outside the box because I think the Skyliner system is one of the best things to happen to Disney in ages.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: I'm going to second that.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Although I would say the monorail was not where you wanted to be last weekend because it got stuck and they were windows out and trying to breathe.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: It was a whole situation.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Oh dear.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: But uh, I'm gonna second the Skyliner system because it really did uh change how guests move between certain resorts and parks.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: And I will say, having just been there, and we didn't even need to use the monorail, but we did anyway, or not uh not the monorail, but the skyliner because, like, why not?
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: We did it took moments to like have a skyliner moment just because we did so we took a little skyliner tour, it was great.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Um well, and I sh I do wish they would like go ahead and expand the Skyliner system.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: I think it'd be great.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Get it over there to Coronado and and you know, it's maybe even put one over by the all-stars or something.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: It's just where where Harper will never have to go back.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: No, yeah, it's fast and it's you know, in certain spots, very scenic, but it's so like with as busy as the parks were last weekend, those things were moving.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I think, you know, in a lot of ways, it shortened the travel time and it's improved, you know, even rope drop mornings can be improved if you really are strategic about that.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: But it made resort hopping feel effortless rather than exhausting, especially when you're going from Epcot to Hollywood.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Like it is such a system that I'm gonna agree with you and say the Skyliner is one of the best things Disney has come up with.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: I have been changed for good, as those witches would say.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: I'm glad.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Uh so what is your what is your number five on the good side?
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: Um, that was it.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that my skyliner.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: So that's well, look at that.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: So shall we jump over and uh discuss uh things that are uh so shall we balance that?
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let's balance that.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: Let's do that.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Well, my number five on the changes for not good.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Uh I went with uh the no resort package delivery.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: The fact that that has never come back.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: And the people down the street are doing it for their resort guests, which I think makes you look bad, Josh, if you're listening to this, you know, which as I'm sure he does.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: I'm sure we're we're part of his Thursday morning ritual.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Uh but yeah, I just don't understand.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: It was so nice to be able to buy things like in the middle of the day when there weren't a ton of people in the shops, but then not have to rent a locker and not have to lug the stuff around all day.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: And for the money that you're paying to Disney to buy those things, they're they're gonna be going to the resort anyway.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: They they move around that that property.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: You can just take my presents with you.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: So stop being cheap.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: That was a bad thing to get rid of.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: I that's not on my list, but I I do agree.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: Um, one of my uh four worse moments is these modern rides are their attractions are ambitious, but they're also fragile.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: And marquee attractions experience frequent downtime, disrupt your plans and your lightning lane schedules, and really your guest confidence.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Because we experienced this, we did not get on Rise of the Resistance the entire week because any day that we tried, it was down.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: And there were several times where we would go back to Hollywood Studios at night being like, Well, maybe we can try tonight, and it was yeah, and we spent most of the day there, it was down.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: Uh a technologically impressive ride starts to shine a little bit, unavailable.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: And and the park down the street has the issue a lot less than they used to, but I mean Hagrid's has issues a lot, and I mean Super Mario the Mario Challenge has its issues down the street, and yeah, it's like it's great to make these technological rides that are amazing, but if you can't get them to boot up in the morning, you've got problems.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: Well, and you know, Tom Walljasper, who's a a a a colleague of both of ours, he talks about how he does not like rise of the resistance because of its reliability issues.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: And I will say he's just wrong.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Well, I would say though, re reliability matters just as much as innovation, and I don't know how to correct that, but I know you know there were a lot of people at the Disney World this past weekend for the holidays, and rise was very rarely.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: So come on, Josh, get on that, please.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: So there you go.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: There's something that I I think's on the worst column.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Going back to the good, then.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Uh going back to the good, and I yeah, there are some things I know that are on my list of things that I think are improvements, and I did go with some attractions here.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: So they're not all just necessarily policy, because I if you did policy, that's great.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: I just I couldn't come up with some.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: So uh, but my number four is a policy, and uh there it can be a hot button topic, but it's the idea of you know, once they added alcohol to the parks and Magic Kingdom in particular, so that you could and and it in and very in particular like the new lounges, the Beacon Barrel and the Geo82, which I I will also say as a Disney adult, that having an adults-only lounge at Epcot, I am all for.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: And that is a hot ticket.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: You you it's hard to get a reservation there.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: So I think I am not alone in liking the idea.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: And man, they have some amazing drinks.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: They really do.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: That brown butter old-fashioned is Chef's kiss.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Um, so so yeah, I just it's and I get that parents are like, well, I don't want my, you know, I'm bringing my young children to Disney and I don't want them to be around a bunch of rowdy drunk people.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: And I go, I get that.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: And yes, drinking around the world uh can sometimes put people in an inebriated state, although Disney is pretty good at policing it.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: But, you know, being able to, and plus Disney gets, you know, Disney creates some really amazing cocktails, let's be honest.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: So just being able to have, you know, a good cocktail in a nicely themed lounge like the Beacon Barrel during the day, that's you know, Mickey didn't Mickey didn't become a drunk just because you put a lounge in his park.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: So if you don't want to drink it, you don't have to.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: But I am a fan of Disney allowing there to be alcohol in the parks, especially Magic Kingdom.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, I they sort of were in the others before, but but also this lounge idea.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Keep keep them coming.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: You know, we'll go to the haunted mansion parlor when you open one in Florida.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Except they won't, they want us to go on the cruise ship.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: Well, there's rumors, there's some rumors flying around right now about that.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, well.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: There are it's we'll see.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: Um, all right.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: So that was that was next on my on my I Have Been Changed for Good.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: All right, so I have been changed for good because of uh uh virtual cues when they existed.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: Um I don't think there are any anymore, but I think virtual cues were uh revelation.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Uh they eliminated hours of standing in line, they allowed guests to enjoy the park and spend money, which I think was a a really important part of what those were, and they reduced that crowd congestion around major attractions.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and they're largely phased out, but they proved that Disney can manage demand without exhausting.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: Disney got an A plus on their report card for I mean, maybe not an A plus, but when you compare them to like the mess that was the Ministry of Magic virtual queue the first time I went, it's like you have had plenty of time to figure out how to do this, Universal, and you have failed miserably.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: Well, because I got to thinking about it because of the cosmic rewind, for instance, you know.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it that I thought was a pretty when that virtual queue existed, it was pretty amazing.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: And well, yeah, I I am ashamed that it is not on my list.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: That again, that's another one that was a policy thing that you've got that I didn't necessarily think of, but absolutely it is yeah, and I and I don't think it's gone, gone.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: No, I don't think it is.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: I think it's gonna it's gonna take it's gonna take like the opening of uh Piston Peak and and the what is the attraction called?
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: I can't remember, but have they named the attraction?
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: I'm sure they have.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: I thought they had, but maybe they hadn't.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: But it's like when T Tiana's first opened, it was pretty successful with that too.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: But the cosmic thing got me thinking about it because on Easter morning we waited, we did, you know, early entry, and we still waited in about an hour, hour and a half, you know, cue for that, even with early entry.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: And I got to thinking about it the way we were kind of snaked around outside.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: I was like, man, I remember the virtual cue for this was so slick.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: And you know, because you got to look at it this way too.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: All of those people waiting in that line, if they weren't waiting in that line, they are buying drinks, they are buying food, they are you know, you are losing out on revenue by stand.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: Virtual cues, man, they were the they were the shit.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: They really were.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: They were.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: So there you go.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: You can agree.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: All right, I loved them.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: Since you only did four on your changes for not good, no, I go back.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: I have another one.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, you have a fifth one?
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: Because I know what collectively is, which we'll talk about.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: Right, okay.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: All right, yeah, we'll we'll let that we'll have that discussion later.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Um, but okay, so next on my change that that I think was very sad was Osborne Festival of Lights going away.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: I just I I understand that there'd be no Galaxy's Edge if they didn't tear down that whole New York Street area back lot stuff, but man, I just wish they could have found some other way at on Disney property to to do that.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: Because, you know, we're not traveling to give kids the world or, you know, to see any of those other displays in Orlando because we don't have a car.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: And so I just that was such a tradition for so long, and it was just so Christmassy, and you know, the story behind it was great, and you know, the fact that Disney rescued the display and and brought it to so many people.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: I just that that was a change that was that was hard to deal with, and you know, and nothing really replaced it other than a different you know, area of the theme park.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: So I've heard tell of that.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: I did not get to experience it myself, but yeah.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: So that was my number four.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Okay, so my number four of things that have uh changed me for the worse, I guess.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: Uh so Disney dining can be incredible.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: We all know this.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Consistency is a little bit of an issue, and and it really and I I notice it a little bit on this trip, but a standout example, and everybody's gonna just think this is the silliest thing, but there is a blueberry muffin at Art of Animation that is notably better than uh similar muffins everywhere.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: Uh and when uh when one resort nails something that simple, it raises a question for me why isn't that the standard?
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Everywhere.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe it's just baked with more love.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: I don't know because I had so here's what's happened.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: So I've had a blueberry muffin at several resorts now.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: And never have I found one as good as the one at Art of Animation.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: Now, here's what I did do.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: I because I had one at Coronado, it was fine.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: But when we were doing our Skyliner tour, I did get one at Art of Animation, and I was like, this is the one.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: This is the one.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: And okay, so I'm a little upset about the muffin consistency.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Now that I can tell.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: I can tell.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: The muffin is a thing for you.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: The muffin is a thing for me.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: That said, I did discover the joys of a crow nut uh during this uh stay, and that helps soften the blow.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: So um it's like a croissant that is married with a donut.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: I've heard.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: I've honestly not I've not had a crow nut.
- 22:57SPEAKER_01: I had neither, but the gal at the Joffrey stand was like, Do you want to try this?
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Absolutely, I do.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: The magic of Disney.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: So anyway, that is my number four is food consistency, especially the blueberry muffin.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm gonna take your not so good, because when you said dining, there was one that I had toyed with putting on my list, and then I kind of forgot about it.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: But it would actually go on my changes for good list, and that is that Disney dining in the pandemic went from a six-month window for reserving your lunch to a two-month window.
- 23:31SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: And I just think it was not, I mean, sure, I enjoyed planning out my meals, but I'm like, do I really know where I want to eat six months from today?
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: And plus, you know, like park schedules and and entertainment schedules a lot better when you get and park hours and stuff when you're two months out instead of six.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: So I'm just throwing that as an as a bonus change for good.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: Okay, good.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: Because we need more good in the world.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: You do need more good in the world, and I would I would second that and say that that is a good one as well.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: So I guess what?
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, now we're up to my number three for good.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, go ahead and you your three for good.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: My three for good is is Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: And I know that's a great question.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: I think that's I but I it's is it?
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: I I think there are great movie ride lovers out there that are probably vowing to never listen to this show again.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: There are those, but I am and I and I do, I understand, I appreciate it, but you know, frankly, not having to see Segordy Weaver sweat like that anymore is probably going to improve my sleep.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: Because man, she's a sweaty gal.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, I know I know change is hard.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: And yeah, there were a couple of things that I thought, you know, I have a feeling if we did this show, and we might four or five years from now, that some of the things that are in the works would make the list of changes for good.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: But I, you know, I love the great movie ride, but it I love Mickey and Minis, and I think that was a change for good.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: I think that is a change for good as well.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: And that nicely segues into something a little bit so my concern with Mickey and Minis was how screen-based it was.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: It didn't end up bothering me that much.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: Um I think what something that Disney has done really well is their ride technology hasn't been solely relying on screens.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: And what I mean by that is like some of the most successful modern attractions blend that digital digital technology with still the like the physical sets and the lighting and practical effects.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking like frozen ever after, for instance.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, but also uh Tiana's even, you know, it has some screen elements, but it still has animatronic elements.
- 26:01SPEAKER_01: And I just I prefer the blend, and I think they do a really good job of blending that.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so Josh, take a note.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: We like the blended, we love the blended, and when technology supports the storytelling instead of um kind of replacing it, I think right it elevates the entire experience.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: And I guess Mickey and Minis is the exception to that rule because it is mostly screens, but it's done so well that you're like, that's fine, you did it so well, this is great.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: But I think the blend of like Tiana's and Frozen are like the perfect Disney ride.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: So I think I think you are correct.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: So so a change for good is the blended technology.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Blended technology, yes.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: Sounds like something to order at Starbucks next time you're there.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: I'll have my technology blended.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: My yes, a little bit of metal, a little bit of scrap, whatever you can say.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: Put some cold foam on the top.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: I think that's the thing.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: Mostly the cold foam, yes.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Um, all right, so now we're back to number three on the not so good list.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: Yes, I think so.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: My number three on the not so good is actually it's twofold.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: And and the reason it's twofold is it goes back to first of all, it was a horrible idea with Harmonious to put that Stargate in the middle of the world showcase all damn day.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: Whoever whoever signed off on that, which I don't know.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: Was that would that have been Chapstick?
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: Was that his era?
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: Who would have signed off on that?
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: Surely not Bob Iger.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: No, honestly, it wasn't Josh yet, because Josh wasn't in charge of parts and experiences yet then.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: Well, still, I would take it up the entire chain of command, but that was a horrible, horrible decision.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: Now, that said, I also miss incredibly that show and the idea of all of that music that was Disney music, but sung in languages that corresponded to the settings of those shows and styles of those shows.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: And I go, I yeah, Symphony of Us.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: So symph, wait, Symphony, symphonic, what is it now?
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Illuminus, a symphony of us.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: I just, as I said, didn't like the show until I was able to sit at Geo82 and watch it from inside and elevated.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: Then I actually kind of I kind of like it now, but man, go back to Harmonious, just don't put an eyesore in the middle of the, you know, if people want to warp here from other places in the galaxy, they don't need a port in the middle of the world showcase.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: That's yeah, that's fair.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: I so that was not a change for good.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: So something that is not a change for good on next on my list is the the gamble that they took with Galactic Star Cruiser.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: And she rest in peace.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: I think it was a good idea, but they priced everyone out so hard that it was a one and done for most people.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: Right, and it wasn't even a one and done for some of us because we couldn't even afford it.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: And right, I think they learned that like while Disney people there's you know, there's some bougie people, they're not willing to pay for a two-day experience what you were charging.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: And so it was a one billion dollar gamble that did not work out.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: Although I speaking of the bougie people, and you know, the idea that people will pay, because I just had clients who were there over spring break who opted to do the premium pat uh the premium lightning lane for their, you know, for their entire family, and they loved it.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: There, of course they did, because what's not to love about that whole thing, but man, the the poo the people that will pay for those premium experiences are out there, and it does make it a little tougher for those of us who don't want to shell out that kind of money.
- 30:19SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: Or can't, literally.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: But all right, I'm getting down off my little soapbox.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: You were saying.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: No, I would I just think it was a it was such a cool idea that they just made that impossible for anybody to enjoy.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: And even the people that I know that went said it was an incredible experience, but it was two days, and so at that price tag, I think you're taking people out of your parks.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, and I I don't believe they'll be making that mistake again in the near future.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: I don't think so.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: I believe they learned an expensive lesson, just like they did with The Bachelorette last week.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: Poor Josh.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: Poor Josh.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: There was an article in one of the news things that I get that's just you know, a summary of what's going on in the world, and one of the articles was Josh really had a bad first week.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he did.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: He did so unfortunately.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: God bless him.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: We're with you, Josh.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: Because you know, he listens, I'm sure.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: I think Bob was like, listen, I listened.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: So they have so you it's just right.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: He's like, I'm bequeathing you my of mice and main street men t-shirt.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: And that's that's so nice.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Uh, so what was that on your list?
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: That was uh so we're up to number two of good on the good side.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: Number two of good, and and my number two of good is Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Ah, great.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: Um now, I d I still want to see it with fully working animatronics, which I don't think is too big an ask for a Disney theme park.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: Um, but the idea that it needed to happen was very, you know, it's it just did.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: It needed it needed to shift not just from something that has, you know, representation issues, not for that reason.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: Just, you know, you were basing it off of a movie that no one had seen in 30, 40 years.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: And it's like now it is so much more relevant, and you know, and and just the idea that what was something that was more problematic can now be enjoyed by so many people.
- 32:36SPEAKER_00: And I know there's uh there's still some haters out there that just love their splash mountain, and you can go to Tokyo, you can go to Tokyo and ride it.
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's still there, yeah.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: But you know, I just I love I love Princess and the Frog, and I love the music.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: The new tune has grown on me, and especially when Tiana's not like scared stiff in that final scene.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: Um it's just uh it's such a fun attraction, and it's brought it new life.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: So number two on my for good is Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
- 33:11SPEAKER_01: That is lovely.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: So, number two on my list is the My Disney experience app.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: Um it it quietly became one of Disney's biggest quality of life improvements, I think.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Like having times mobile food ordering, the dining reservations, the parking mobile food ordering.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: That was gonna be on my list too.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, mobile ordering, man, and like just so much easier.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, everything in just one place.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: I think that really changed the game.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: Now, I did not go to Disney much longer before this came around because I started going in 2015, but I do remember it was a little trickier to navigate and not trickier, but like it just the ease of the app was insane.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: And like I relied on it quite a bit this last trip, but I didn't feel like it was a hindrance necessarily, but it was just something that really enhanced the experience.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: But the mobile ordering, I'm gonna put that on the list of like why that thing rocks, because that's an incredible, it's an incredible asset of that app.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: Well, and also, yeah, totally.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: And the thing that I use all the time at the resort is you can check and see when the next bus is gonna leave.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: And you do that, yeah.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: So you do you it's either like okay, the next bus isn't coming for 20 minutes, so you don't end up running and and have just missed a bus two minutes earlier.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: It's just it's so helpful to go, okay.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: Well, the next bus is almost here, but we'll never get down there in time, so let's not rush.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: Well, and you know, in those resorts that have the multiple bus stops, like Coronado does, it was really helpful to know that because we were kind of in the middle of two, so like you could go to one or the other depending upon which, you know.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: And but yeah, it was so easy to be like, okay, the next one's at 1047, it's only 10 30.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: Let's we have time to do it.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: So Brian Bo, my Disney experience.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: Excellent choice.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Uh whose turn to do what?
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: It's your turn to do us, do, do us uh uh uh do us poorly.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: Do us poorly.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: Well, my number two, and this probably also won't be a surprise that changed that I don't feel has ever gotten as good as it was, is wishes.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: And I know that I am sentimentally attached to that as my fireworks show, and that other people just love happily ever after, and other people love whatever enchant enchanted enchantment.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, what was that one called?
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: Enchantment?
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: Enchantment.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: Uh uh.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: But that's see, we don't we don't even know the name of that.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: And wishes just had such, I think the thing I really liked about now it did not have all the fancy bells and whistles of the castle projections back then, but it was truly a really cool score with that catchy little demon child song about wishes.
- 36:17SPEAKER_00: But it sort of it had a through line, and you know, and it was about and and it also had a section for the villains.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was just a nicely crafted show that celebrated all things Disney, was joyful, gave you a little bit of villain energy and scary energy in the middle, but basically came back and you know, and the the fireworks that looked like a shooting star were so beautiful.
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: I just I want them to come back with like wishes 2.0 and and figure that out because I miss it.
- 36:54SPEAKER_00: I miss it every time I watch fireworks.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and there's been a few of them over the years that have been really, really great.
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: That the Disneyland, I'm a big fan of Disneyland's fireworks with uh with the flying and stuff that they do out there with like Dumbo and The House from Up and The Blue Fairy, and I mean and the one they did for the 50th, way back when, that was narrated by Julie Andrews.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: Um I it was it was wonderful.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: But but yeah, and I I still, you know, a bad Disney fireworks show is still better than anything else on the planet, but I miss me wishes.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: That's what pirates say.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: I miss me wishes.
- 37:43SPEAKER_02: I miss me wishes.
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: Uh all right, my okay, so again, I kind of was very policy heavy now.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: I think about it.
- 37:54SPEAKER_00: But that's good.
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: I wish I had been a little more policy heavy.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: So thank you for taking up the mantle, yes.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: So back in the day and I think this stopped in 2021.
- 38:05SPEAKER_01: You can correct me if I'm wrong on that.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: But when you purchased a Disney uh resort stay, they would send you uh magic bands for your Disney resort, and they would send you luggage tags, and and they you know they hyped you up before you even arrived.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: Now you get a notification in the app, and that's about it.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: And right, I think that personal touch, and I know why they did it, because they know people are gonna buy those magic bands, so you don't need to send them to you for free.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure in a way you probably bought them back then too, but they just were clever about not letting you know that.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: And I think Disney has gotten away from that personal touch before you arrive that was so Disney, and also i.e.
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: Magic Express, right?
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: That we're which we will get to.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: I see.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: You put it all the way up at your number one slot, all right.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: Then well, I I I did, but then it's not part of it, so I've added something, but all right.
- 39:12SPEAKER_01: Um I that is something that I think about often that I'm like, that was really a part of your Disney experience was getting those in the mail a couple weeks before.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: And I think Disney was like, nah, we're gonna make people pay for that, you know.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: All right, they do everything else.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: Well, just so we can add on good and don't, I mean, end on good and don't just sound like Statler and Waldorf, um bolted to with our butts to our boxes.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: Um uh let's let's go ahead and finish up the not so good list.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I just have one left before we get to magical express.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: And and I just have one left.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: So um the the top of mine, and because I did I did tell Jackie what we were doing today, and I was like, is there anything that makes your list?
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: And she actually said this one, and I I hesitated to agree with her necessarily, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought she was right.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: And that is the fact that Fast Pass disappeared and Lightning Lane became a purchase.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: Because it goes back to what you were saying about the Disney that used to, you know, as a as a travel agent, I'm constantly talking about the value of Disney.
- 40:35SPEAKER_00: And I still believe 110% that, you know, things like fireworks and things like street entertainment, and there's so much, so many things you do get with a Disney vacation, but let's be honest, you used to get a few more.
- 40:48SPEAKER_00: And that fast pass, which, you know, there are people at Universal that were still calling it a fast pass, you know, and that's certainly not what Universal has ever called it, and not what Disney's called it in several many years.
- 41:03SPEAKER_00: But, you know, and I get it that the business model said, well, we're giving them something they'll pay for.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: And there are improvements with Lightning Lane.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, with FastPass, you could never reserve three fast passes before you got to the park.
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: You know, you literally back in the day before the before my Disney experience, you ran over to an attraction and you put your ticket in.
- 41:26SPEAKER_00: Well, you usually sent the the the quickest moving person in your party, especially if it was something clear across on the other side of the park.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: And back then you didn't know what time you were gonna get.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: It just set it up there when you got there.
- 41:39SPEAKER_00: It was the wild west.
- 41:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was it was the wild west of premium experiences.
- 41:45SPEAKER_00: Um, but but yeah, I and and you know, and now there's all sorts of lightning lanes.
- 41:52SPEAKER_00: There's the individual, you know, which I have been guilty of buying those myself because you go, I want to do this, I want to pick my time, I don't want to wait in line.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: My time is valuable.
- 42:05SPEAKER_00: And but man, the days of just having that freebie that you know was included in the price of a ticket, that that direction I feel was not a good change, even though many good things have come with Lightning Lane and and especially as you said with the app.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: But yeah, so that was my number one.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: Well, number one besides besides that which shall not be named, which I was like yeah, well, what was number what was number one on yours?
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: Well, it's it ties directly into what you were just talking about.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: It's lightning lane and the app dependence.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: I think um, while powerful the the app driven nature of the parks can sometimes, I think, pull us out of the moment.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: I we didn't use lightning lane much this trip, honestly.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: We just had it for one day and that was it.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: And so it's kind of nice.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: Like we didn't I don't know, we were just not dependent on it, so it didn't matter.
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: But stare well, and that's another plus of premium because that you know, the premiere Lightning Lane, you don't worry about being on your phone, you just walk into the lightning lane of every attraction in the park, right?
- 43:22SPEAKER_01: So I think you know, staring at a phone to refresh availability or manage everything isn't why people visit Disney, and it was nice not having it for the couple days that we didn't have it, and you know, it while I think the Disney experience app in general is nice, the lightning lane thing makes everything feel like you're managing a technological system and it doesn't need to be, but also the price, because I do remember the days of Fast Pass as well, and uh now you know the the nickel and dime, I think that's something.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Josh is gonna have to reckon with.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: But also, here's the thing with Lightning Lane, too, and I mentioned this before was something that Harper and I observed was when we did have Lightning Lane for the day we had it, we found we waited in the Lightning Lane line just as long as we waited in standby.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: And so it was not that has to change.
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: That just has to change, Disney.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: You can't sell as many if that's gonna be the experience.
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: And so we found that not having it for the next three days wasn't a big deal because what we were witnessing was the people in the lightning lanes waiting just as long as standby in almost every single attraction.
- 44:37SPEAKER_01: Frozen, the day we stood in line for Frozen, we waited for an hour for that on Easter Sunday, and the lightning lane line was longer than the standby.
- 44:47SPEAKER_00: And uh so it sometimes shouldn't even allow that to.
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know you give people an hour, and it's like, but you know, it's not that like for the first 50 minutes of that hour, no one was there, and then everybody from those 50 minutes in their window showed up at one time.
- 45:05SPEAKER_00: That's not what's happening.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: No, and it so I think there's something that needs to be reckoned with on that, but right anyway and the answer probably is increase the price and sell fewer.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: Right, yeah, right, no kidding.
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: But I I trust that Josh will find a way to hopefully address some of this stuff.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: I hope, but he's been charge of parks and experience this whole time.
- 45:32SPEAKER_00: Well, I know.
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe the new maybe the new guy.
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: It's a new guy, right?
- 45:37SPEAKER_00: Who's doing that job?
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I can't remember his name now, but yes.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, all right.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: So I want to mention Magical Express and how upset we are about that.
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, because Statler and Waldorf haven't bitched enough about that over the years.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: Honestly, it's just now I will say I do take mirrors, and I have great experiences with mirrors.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: I have no notes, it's so cheap, and it does exactly what Magical Express did, with the exception of the luck.
- 46:07SPEAKER_01: But other than that, I mean what we talked about this before, but it was a like an immediate psychological handoff from the real world to Disney, and I think without it, guests can now start their vacation uh however they want, wherever they want, and you're not immediately in the bubble spending your money.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: So I think at the business decision, I think it was a terrible idea to get rid of that.
- 46:31SPEAKER_01: We talked about this at length, but anyway.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: All right, uh let's let's move over to good.
- 46:38SPEAKER_00: Yes, what is just for good?
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, I was a little surprised at this one, but then not totally.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: And and I may I'm gonna I'm gonna lie this one a little because unfortunately a couple of the other examples of this that I have are for California, but I really feel like what they did with the country bear jamboree works a thousand percent.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: And it's not that I'm not nostalgic for the old show.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: That's the show I saw as a kid with my grandparents, and that had some funny and very offensive stuff in it about whooping little Buford and shooting him instead.
- 47:14SPEAKER_00: So I get that time more rays have shifted, and you can no longer talk about shooting your child as a punishment.
- 47:22SPEAKER_00: I get that.
- 47:25SPEAKER_00: I get that, but but just the revitalization and what Disney continues to do to plus their attractions.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, we've seen it in the Haunted Mansion over the years, you know.
- 47:37SPEAKER_00: When I was a kid, Madame Leota's crystal ball did not float, but now it does because Disney learned how to do that.
- 47:44SPEAKER_00: And they went, This just pluses the experience.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: You know, you couldn't switch heads of your people in the in the haunted mansion, which, you know, the first time that happened, I was like, oh my God, this is such it it belongs in this world, and you've just given me something new and special.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's kind of what I thought, you know, we all marveled when we walked in and saw how full the country bear jamboree was after all these years, because they made it relevant again with a beautiful nod to what it was and some really good material.
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: And uh I mean a couple of the the Disneyland examples are uh the Snow White attraction there and the Alice in Wonderland attraction, which I remember, well, first of all, as a kid, Snow White's scary adventures.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: Now you can't scare kids, you just have to enchant them.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: Um what a world.
- 48:42SPEAKER_00: What a world.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: Uh, but they just, you know, rather than go, well, this is just a 50-year-old attraction, there's nothing we can do with it, they found ways to keep it very similar in most ways to the original, but introduce new technology that makes it feel fresh and new and updated and current.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: And I just go, that's what Disney does really well a lot of the time.
- 49:11SPEAKER_00: And and I feel like I will feel that way eventually about Piston Peak and about, you know, will I miss the rivers of America and the view?
- 49:20SPEAKER_00: Yes, but I understand it was time to change because man, Tom Sawyer Island was a death trap.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: Um but but yeah, so that was my number one.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: So mine is um it is an attraction, but it's Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind.
- 49:41SPEAKER_01: I think having recently uh been on that attraction, um, it's I think probably the coolest ride at Disney World.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: It uh it's one of those things that blends that cutting-edge technology that Disney's always trying to you know innovate with, but also maintaining their storytelling vibe and using the rotating ride vehicles that launch you backwards.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:09SPEAKER_01: That's such a cool, like that's such a cool way to do that.
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: Like it's you know, I love that you know the songs are randomized, and so you get a little bit of a different experience every time, and it's so smooth and it's so thrilling.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: And man, you know, it's when it doesn't knock on wood, it does not seem to break down a ton.
- 50:29SPEAKER_01: No, it doesn't, and that's what's kind of amazing, too.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: It's just it's just so highly detailed.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: That cue is incredible, yeah, and it just delivers, you know, a rare mess of that innovation, fun, and rewritability value that like really sets it apart from a lot of.
- 50:45SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, naysayers who are going, well, you shouldn't bring IP like that into Epcot.
- 50:51SPEAKER_00: It's like they really found a very Epcot thematic storyline to bring that pavilion into that world, and it's just it's brilliant.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: And man, when he's talking about veggie-veggie fruit fruit and the dinosaurs, I'm like, I am right there with you, Star Lord.
- 51:12SPEAKER_01: Well, that cue and the pre-show are just incredible, too.
- 51:16SPEAKER_01: Like, just top to bottom, what an experience! And I absolutely love it, and I'm just thrilled.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: So I think that's one of the best things Disney's done in years.
- 51:25SPEAKER_00: You don't you don't miss a sweaty Ellen?
- 51:27SPEAKER_00: She didn't sweat as much as Sigourney Weaver, but but she did seem to be a little sweaty.
- 51:33SPEAKER_01: I never experienced that, so I it was closed by the time I went.
- 51:37SPEAKER_00: So wow, yeah, wow, just wow.
- 51:41SPEAKER_00: Because I remember when Ellen was new.
- 51:43SPEAKER_00: Ellen was the makeover for just boring old dinosaurs.
- 51:47SPEAKER_00: Oh well, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
- 51:51SPEAKER_00: No, the more things stay the same, the more they change.
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: The only thing that's inevitable is change.
- 51:56SPEAKER_00: Any of those change metaphors.
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: I was gonna let you keep going down that little spiral.
- 52:01SPEAKER_00: I I think I was I think I was done.
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: Uh well, this has been delightful to kind of go through uh and we balanced it out.
- 52:11SPEAKER_01: We did good and we did bad, you know?
- 52:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I'm sure we missed some that our audio visitors will remind us of, but I'm sure that they will.
- 52:20SPEAKER_00: We'll probably get a text very early this morning from Kimberly.
- 52:24SPEAKER_00: Well, first of all, complimenting her shout out for her squee for for D23, but but also I'm I'm sure she will yay us or nay us on something.
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: I'm sure she will.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: Uh but thank you all for listening.
- 52:41SPEAKER_01: You can check out the website of mice and mainstreetmen.com.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: There is a link to the travel agency Sean works for.
- 52:47SPEAKER_01: You can check all that out.

- 52:50SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of deals this summer, so you you want to make sure you get those.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: There's some really good stuff going on.
- 52:55SPEAKER_00: Yes, there are, and stuff for Disney Visa holders and Disney Plus members, and you know, cool kid summers going on down there, and uh kids eat free all this year, plus you get free water park the day you check in.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: So there's a lot of there's a lot of reasons to go melt your face off in the Florida heat this summer.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 53:15SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 53:16SPEAKER_01: Heck yeah.

- 53:18SPEAKER_01: Follow us on socials of Mice and Main Street Men, and uh hopefully I can get a uh a trip report recorded with Harper to kind of run down what we did and kind of how she switched up how we're doing Disney in the future.
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: And uh, but yeah, thank you all for listening and Mr.
- 53:35SPEAKER_01: McCall, it's always a pleasure.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, likewise, sir.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: Uh you know, by you friends, my friend, and real
