Let's start with a common one: ጎመን. Cabbage. Luna: ጎመን. Cabbage. Got it. Lucas: Good. Next: ካሮት. Carrot. Luna: ካሮት. Carrot. That sounds familiar. Lucas: Yeah, because it's similar to the English word. And another: ሽንኩርት. Onion. Luna: ሽንኩርት. Onion. That one's new. Let me try: ሽንኩርት. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you want to buy them, you say the vegetable name plus ልገዛ. For example: ጎመን ልገዛ. I want to buy cabbage. Luna: Oh, so ልገዛ means 'I want to buy'? Let me try: ካሮት ልገዛ. I want to buy carrots. Lucas: Exactly. And to ask the price, you say ምን ያህል ነው? How much is it? Luna: ምን ያህል ነው? So if I point to cabbage, I can say ጎመን ምን ያህል ነው? Lucas: That's right. Let's practice a little scene. You're at the market. Luna: Okay. I see some nice carrots. ካሮት ልገዛ. ካሮት ምን ያህል ነው? Lucas: Great. The seller might say አስር ብር ነው. It's ten birr. Luna: አስር ብር. Ten birr. Not bad. Lucas: Let's do a quick review. Repeat after me: ጎመን. Luna: ጎመን. Lucas: ካሮት. Luna: ካሮት. Lucas: ሽንኩርት. Luna: ሽንኩርት. Lucas: And the phrases: ጎመን ልገዛ. Luna: ጎመን ልገዛ. Lucas: ጎመን ምን ያህል ነው?
