- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swedish with Fexingo, episode 217. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Lucas, we've been to so many shops lately — shoes, bikes, lamps. Where are we going today? Lucas: Today we're going somewhere completely different. We're going to a school. Luna: A school! I haven't been in a classroom in a while. What will we learn? Lucas: We're going to learn some basic school vocabulary. Words like skola, lärare, and elev. Luna: Skola. That sounds like 'school'. Lucas: Exactly. Skola means school. Let's say it together: skola. Luna: Skola. Lucas: Perfect. Now, the person who teaches is a lärare. Luna: Lärare. That's a teacher. Lucas: Right. And the student is an elev. Luna: Elev. Student. Okay, so skola, lärare, elev. Lucas: Great. Now, if you're in a school, you might hear someone ask: Vad heter du? Luna: Vad heter du? That means 'What's your name?' Lucas: Yes, and you can answer with: Jag heter... and then your name. Luna: So, Jag heter Luna. Lucas: Perfect. Let's put that together. Imagine you're at school and someone asks you: Vad heter du? Luna: Jag heter Luna. Lucas: There you go. You just introduced yourself in Swedish. Luna: That's pretty cool. But Lucas, how do you spell 'lärare'? It's got that funny ä. Lucas: It's spelled L-Ä-r a r e. And 'elev' is E-L-E-V. Luna: Thanks. So, if I'm at school, I might say: Jag är en elev. Lucas: Exactly. And if you're a teacher, you'd say: Jag är en lärare. But today we're learners. Luna: Right. So, we're elever at Fexingo. So now you have a complete introduction. Let's repeat the new words once more: skola, lärare, elev. Luna: Skola, lärare, elev. Lucas: And the question: Vad heter du? And your answer: Jag heter... Luna: Vad heter du? Jag heter Luna. Lucas: Perfect. Now, let's imagine you're in a classroom. Your teacher might say: Var är boken? Luna: Where is the book? That's from an earlier episode. Lucas: Yes. So you can say: Boken är på bordet. The book is on the table. Luna: Boken är på bordet. Nice, we're using past vocabulary. Lucas: Exactly. So in this episode, we've added school words to your Swedish toolbox. skola, lärare, elev, Vad heter du?, Jag heter... Luna: I feel like I could walk into a Swedish school and introduce myself now. Lucas: You could. And if you do, don't forget: You're an elev, and the teacher is a lärare. And you're at a skola. Luna: Got it. Skola, lärare, elev. Lucas: Great. That's all for today's episode. Thanks for joining us on Learn Swedish with Fexingo. Luna: Practice these words and come back for more. Hej då! Lucas: Hej då!
