- 0:24Speaker 2: And I'm one of your hosts, Dan Lombardo with me
- 0:27Speaker 2: as always Daniel Reyes lurking around somewhere. Might be Scott Powders.
- 0:33Speaker 2: I don't know. Did we get a definitive answer from him?
- 0:37Speaker 3: I think that was the definitive last night. Yeah, that
- 0:40Speaker 3: was not feeling so good. You know, maybe Chad got
- 0:43Speaker 3: loose in the basement. So he's got to, you know,
- 0:44Speaker 3: tamp that down.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You know, he's going to have to start considering how
- 0:49Speaker 2: dedicated he actually is to his role.
- 0:51Speaker 3: That's true, Yes, because he's been he's been slacking. Indeed,
- 0:57Speaker 3: indeed it is. It is not good. We will have
- 1:00Speaker 3: to talk talk about that with corporate. See what's going on?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yes we will. Oh a waiting games is good morning, gents.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Glad to join the stream today. Yes, we have a
- 1:10Speaker 3: mighty stream, so might.
- 1:16Speaker 2: My urologist does not agree?
- 1:18Speaker 3: No, no, okay, well work on that.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Oh man. Yeah, so it's been it's been a couple
- 1:28Speaker 2: of weeks for me.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it has been.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I haven't been on it a little while. I had
- 1:33Speaker 2: a I had a cold that turned into COVID. So awesome.
- 1:39Speaker 2: My COVID punch card I think is at like six
- 1:41Speaker 2: or seven. Now you get now, what's that?
- 1:47Speaker 3: Do you get a free sandwich now?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Or I do want one more? One more? I get
- 1:51Speaker 2: a free a free sandwich. Yep, it's uh, it's sandwich
- 1:56Speaker 2: t shirt. And then I get a hat. Oh nice,
- 1:59Speaker 2: it's it's here. It's a tear system.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Right right right right, chasing for the next thing.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yep, yep. So yeah, last week was so weird.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I I took Monday off for an appointment at my
- 2:16Speaker 2: son's school, went to work Tuesday and just felt like
- 2:21Speaker 2: garbage the second half of the day, and then just
- 2:24Speaker 2: took the rest of the week off. You know. And
- 2:28Speaker 2: when I say take the rest of the week off,
- 2:29Speaker 2: I know, it sounds like I'm sitting by the pool drinking. No. No, no,
- 2:33Speaker 2: you were just drinks out of a coconut. No. I
- 2:36Speaker 2: mean like I'm on the couch wishing I was dead. Yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 2: but yeah, yeah, so my voice is mostly back. It'll
- 2:47Speaker 2: probably get worse over the next forty minutes.
- 2:50Speaker 3: So you know, we'll bear through this and see what
- 2:54Speaker 3: we can do. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 3: When I get sick, I use it as an opportunity
- 3:02Speaker 3: to watch like shows I haven't been able to catch
- 3:04Speaker 3: up on, or movies or whatever. You did you watch
- 3:07Speaker 3: anything good at least or.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Let's see, yes, my son. So, my son is thirteen
- 3:16Speaker 2: now thirteen, all right, so he's getting to the age
- 3:21Speaker 2: that he can watch a different tier of movies. Yeah,
- 3:27Speaker 2: so I'm slowly introducing him to, you know, some films.
- 3:32Speaker 2: So we watched, we watched The Fly, the nineteen eighty
- 3:36Speaker 2: six Jeff Goldblue Yep, yep. So he liked He liked
- 3:41Speaker 2: it enough that I when I told him, you know,
- 3:44Speaker 2: if you turn the disc over, the Fly Too is
- 3:48Speaker 2: on there. That's how old my DVD copy of right,
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yeah you know it's a double sided disc. Yeah, excuse
- 3:56Speaker 2: So the next day we watched we watched The Fly Too,
- 4:00Speaker 2: which did not hold up.
- 4:02Speaker 3: No, it's not as good.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not as good, but it's funny you rewatch
- 4:07Speaker 2: you rewatch these old movies and you're like, I know,
- 4:09Speaker 2: I didn't know that guy was in this, Like that
- 4:13Speaker 2: was what's his name? The guy? He was the first
- 4:18Speaker 2: Marty McFly before they fired him.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Eric Schultz Eric Staltz. Yeah, I had forgotten that was
- 4:28Speaker 2: Eric Staltz in The Fly Too and his love interests
- 4:32Speaker 2: in that movie. I don't know her name, but she
- 4:34Speaker 2: was in Spaceballs. She was Princess Vespa. Yeah, so we
- 4:41Speaker 2: watched The Fly We watched The Fly Too a couple
- 4:46Speaker 2: of days ago. Well, he was sick too, so the
- 4:48Speaker 2: whole there was a point where the whole family was sick. Yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It was awful. It was awful, and I'm pretty sure
- 4:56Speaker 2: the meeting at my kid's school, I probably got about
- 4:59Speaker 2: sick administrators sick too.
- 5:02Speaker 3: So well, there you go.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Yeah, awesome. So we watched it. Yeah, yeah, we also
- 5:10Speaker 2: I had him watch the greatest Christmas movie of all time.
- 5:15Speaker 3: This might be different takes for you and me. My
- 5:18Speaker 3: mine would be uh, Grimlins nod die Hard.
- 5:26Speaker 2: We watched. We watched die Hard the other day.
- 5:29Speaker 3: I kind of thought that's the answer. But I love
- 5:31Speaker 3: my I love my Grimlins.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, so, and it's funny because I haven't watched
- 5:37Speaker 2: die Hard in I probably haven't watched it in twenty years.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Yeah, And you know, you pick up.
- 5:46Speaker 2: On things it does. It does hold up, it does
- 5:50Speaker 2: hold up, But you also pick up on things that
- 5:52Speaker 2: I didn't pick up on twenty years ago. So you
- 5:55Speaker 2: know the scene where where McClean meets Gruber, and Gruber
- 6:03Speaker 2: is pretending he's pretending to be Bill Clay from marketing
- 6:07Speaker 2: or whatever, okay, and McClain hands him a gun which
- 6:15Speaker 2: we later find out is empty when right, you know,
- 6:19Speaker 2: when Groober double crosses him. But in rewatching it now,
- 6:25Speaker 2: I noticed that McClain inserts the magazine, which we know
- 6:30Speaker 2: is empty, and then when he puts the slide forward
- 6:34Speaker 2: to load around, he manually pulls down the magazine release.
- 6:43Speaker 2: And he does this because the mechanics of an empty weapon,
- 6:49Speaker 2: if there was a round in that magazine, he could
- 6:51Speaker 2: just pull the slide back and it would chamber the round.
- 6:53Speaker 2: But because the magazine is empty, the mechanics of the
- 6:57Speaker 2: way the gun works, it won't do that. It'll lock.
- 7:01Speaker 2: It'll keep the slide lock to the rear. So he
- 7:03Speaker 2: manually did that with his thumb. So if you're looking cloy,
- 7:07Speaker 2: if you're watching this for the first time and you're
- 7:09Speaker 2: a gun person and you look closely, you will know
- 7:12Speaker 2: that he's handing him an empty weapon. Oh interesting, Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 2: And I found it even more interesting because they used
- 7:22Speaker 2: like real world knowledge of how firearms work to drive
- 7:26Speaker 2: the scene here and in the next movie he talks
- 7:31Speaker 2: about the Glock seven being made of ceramic and therefore
- 7:36Speaker 2: undetectable by an X ray machine, and a couple things
- 7:40Speaker 2: is Glock seven doesn't exist. That's a fictitious thing they
- 7:44Speaker 2: made up. They made up for the movie. The idea
- 7:47Speaker 2: of a gun being made of ceramic and therefore not
- 7:49Speaker 2: being able to show up on an X ray machine
- 7:52Speaker 2: is just preposterous. Goes against the laws of physics. You
- 7:55Speaker 2: cannot have a weapon, you cannot have a firearm that
- 7:58Speaker 2: does not have metal parts. Physics will will not allow it.
- 8:02Speaker 2: So you know, in the first film they used real
- 8:05Speaker 2: life knowledge of how firearm functions to drive the plot,
- 8:09Speaker 2: and in the second film need to the exact opposite
- 8:12Speaker 2: to drive.
- 8:15Speaker 3: That's funny. Yeah, huh, well that's cool. Yeah yeah, well,
- 8:22Speaker 3: I'm glad you guys got to watch that. That's that's
- 8:24Speaker 3: a fun movie. We did also watch a Christmas movie
- 8:28Speaker 3: that neither one of us picked out, because Scott's the
- 8:31Speaker 3: one who picked it out, and we're gonna have to.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Talk Scott's who I owe the beatdown too?
- 8:37Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, the smackdowns that's pretty bad. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:43Speaker 3: I have things to say about Red One. We will
- 8:45Speaker 3: talk about that, but uh yeah, let's let's get into
- 8:51Speaker 3: star some Star Trek news first though.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Star Trek News.
- 8:59Speaker 3: All right, so our first bit of Star Trek news
- 9:01Speaker 3: comes to us from Parade Magazine. And you may have
- 9:05Speaker 3: seen some of the some of the postings going around
- 9:09Speaker 3: social media, but Strange New Worlds has wrapped up its
- 9:13Speaker 3: fifth season. They just finished shooting, and there's a big
- 9:20Speaker 3: postings by by most of the cast members saying that,
- 9:23Speaker 3: you know, it's been an emotional journey, but it's done. Man,
- 9:27Speaker 3: They're done shooting Strange world season.
- 9:31Speaker 2: This is relevant. You know. This basically means if season
- 9:37Speaker 2: four sucks, there's no post correction, right, there's not going
- 9:43Speaker 2: to be fixed.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Well, you can also argue season four had the same issue,
- 9:49Speaker 3: will have the same issue because they were in the
- 9:52Speaker 3: middle of shooting it as season three was dropping. Yeah,
- 9:56Speaker 3: so yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Is that there are rumors that the whole reason that
- 10:05Speaker 3: they hurried up and got it all done is that
- 10:08Speaker 3: they have to get everything shot before the end of
- 10:11Speaker 3: January because a secret hide. Art Kurtzman's company will not
- 10:16Speaker 3: be getting renewed for their structure license, so don't know
- 10:21Speaker 3: for sure that that's the case, but the contract does
- 10:23Speaker 3: come to an end at I think middle of next year,
- 10:26Speaker 3: in twenty twenty six. So it is interesting that a
- 10:29Speaker 3: renewal has not been announced or any or any negotiations yet.
- 10:37Speaker 2: But what aren't they doing the new one? Isn't that
- 10:42Speaker 2: the same people doing it?
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yes, it is the same people doing it, but yes,
- 10:47Speaker 3: But that also that's why they're shooting those two seasons
- 10:50Speaker 3: back to back. Is everything has to be done by
- 10:53Speaker 3: the end of January allegedly, so the shooting is done,
- 10:58Speaker 3: but the least can be after the contract.
- 11:02Speaker 2: So oh you mean you mean Starfleet Academy. They're shooting
- 11:08Speaker 2: two seasons back to back.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Also awesome, right, so neat uh oh waiting, Gabe, please
- 11:21Speaker 3: let that be tree, Please God, let that be true.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I imagine he means about Kurtsman not being renewed. So
- 11:26Speaker 3: we'll see, maybe we'll get a We would find out
- 11:30Speaker 3: probably right around Independence days, so it would be our
- 11:33Speaker 3: true independence day.
- 11:35Speaker 2: When do we find out if trek Cast gets renewed?
- 11:39Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, We're got to figure that one out
- 11:43Speaker 3: for sure. But yeah. So anyways, Stranger Worlds, it's coming
- 11:48Speaker 3: to an end and they've they're done shooting, So there
- 11:51Speaker 3: you go. Next story comes to us from trekmovie dot
- 11:56Speaker 3: com and this is interesting, especially for the holidays season.
- 12:00Speaker 3: But another licensee is dropping Star Trek due to increased
- 12:07Speaker 3: paramount fees. So typically when you license a product, you
- 12:11Speaker 3: pay a fee in order to do that. So recently
- 12:15Speaker 3: apparel maker hero Within dropped Star Trek citing the higher fees.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Hero Within makes like a ton of jackets and clothing,
- 12:27Speaker 3: pretty cool stuff. Actually I can show you some of
- 12:29Speaker 3: the stuff they make. But also recently a retrospective Retrospect Studios,
- 12:37Speaker 3: who makes these banners that I have on screen right now,
- 12:40Speaker 3: to make all these kind of like art kind of
- 12:42Speaker 3: like watercolor looking pictures of characters. They are also dropping
- 12:48Speaker 3: Star Trek because of the cost. It's just not economically
- 12:53Speaker 3: viable anymore. So that's interesting, you know, because Skydance just
- 12:58Speaker 3: bought Paramount and immediate increase the fees because they got
- 13:02Speaker 3: to make that money back somehow.
- 13:03Speaker 2: So it's fine. This is this is the free market
- 13:06Speaker 2: at work. They increase the licensing fees and because of that,
- 13:11Speaker 2: they're losing licensees. Which means they're not going to sell products,
- 13:15Speaker 2: which means they're going to lower the licensing fees to
- 13:19Speaker 2: draw it licensees. So you know, the uh, what do
- 13:24Speaker 2: they call it the invisible hand? I know, yeah, humans
- 13:28Speaker 2: call it Humans call it the invisible hand. Think the
- 13:31Speaker 2: Ferengis call it the Great Material Continuum.
- 13:33Speaker 3: That's the same thing, that's right. I don't know what
- 13:37Speaker 3: rule of acquisition increasing your fees after the merger is,
- 13:40Speaker 3: but but there it is. So yeah, so less Star
- 13:44Speaker 3: Trek products in the upcoming New year. But I'm sure
- 13:47Speaker 3: it'll shake out in the end.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it will shake out in the end. Yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 3: And then our last news story comes to us from
- 13:54Speaker 3: Den of Geek and we are finding out a little
- 13:57Speaker 3: bit more about Noah Hall's canceled Star Trek film. So
- 14:04Speaker 3: it's kind of interesting. So what we're learning is it
- 14:08Speaker 3: was for sure going. So the rumors was it was
- 14:10Speaker 3: going to be about a virus. That he is, Oh yeah,
- 14:15Speaker 3: he he is the creator behind He did Legion, the
- 14:21Speaker 3: X Men show on FX, he worked on Fargo. Most
- 14:26Speaker 3: recently he worked on Alien Earth. So pretty yeah, he's
- 14:33Speaker 3: a really good writer, producer. Yeah, yeah, make some interesting stories.
- 14:38Speaker 3: I don't know if you go, if you saw any
- 14:40Speaker 3: of those shows. But yeah, Alien Earth was pretty good
- 14:44Speaker 3: and Legion is pretty good too. But yeah, so we're
- 14:50Speaker 3: learning a little bit more about his what he was
- 14:53Speaker 3: going to do with Star Trek. He was going to
- 14:54Speaker 3: do a brand new movie, brand new crew. We're learning
- 14:59Speaker 3: that it was for sure going to be centered around
- 15:01Speaker 3: a virus that was going from planet to planet, just
- 15:04Speaker 3: just decimating populations, So that for sure was going to happen.
- 15:10Speaker 3: The other thing too, was Data was going to be
- 15:13Speaker 3: part of it, and what did he say? Yes, the
- 15:19Speaker 3: quote is an inboxing of Data and the idea of
- 15:23Speaker 3: the android that would become an element in the films.
- 15:26Speaker 3: So he had a film series thought up. So it's
- 15:32Speaker 3: not for sure that it would be the TNNG crew.
- 15:35Speaker 3: It would have nothing to do with the Crispine crew,
- 15:39Speaker 3: but it would be a new crew and Data would
- 15:41Speaker 3: somehow be involved. So I imagine they would recast Data. Who
- 15:45Speaker 3: that would be who knows, but yeah, a little bit,
- 15:52Speaker 3: a little bit different a virus. I do know that
- 15:56Speaker 3: that they also mentioned like what happened to it? So
- 16:00Speaker 3: there was talk of doing like a transitional film between
- 16:05Speaker 3: the Kelvin crew and this new crew for the No
- 16:09Speaker 3: Holly movie. So they were going to think about making
- 16:13Speaker 3: some sort of like movie with the two of them
- 16:15Speaker 3: tied together, and then that way you could have the
- 16:17Speaker 3: No Holly crew for their independent film, but that never
- 16:21Speaker 3: happens to like their own kind of version of Generations.
- 16:26Speaker 3: And then also doing a storyline about a virus just
- 16:30Speaker 3: after COVID probably not something people want to watch. So yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 3: so that's kind of what tanked it. But I don't know,
- 16:41Speaker 3: would would you want to watch a story about a
- 16:42Speaker 3: virus now it's a few years away removed?
- 16:49Speaker 2: I don't know. I just want to watch something good.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of where I'm at, Like, I don't
- 16:54Speaker 3: care that it's a virus or not at this point,
- 16:56Speaker 3: like virus has happened. Yeah, give me as long as
- 16:59Speaker 3: it's good. Sure, you know. But yeah, so that is
- 17:04Speaker 3: all the Star Trek news today. Well, should we get
- 17:11Speaker 3: into the the main topic or supplemental spotlight? I should say.
- 17:18Speaker 2: We have to, I know, I know, sure, I.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Have so many things to say about this movie. All right,
- 17:24Speaker 3: you're so we're gonna blame Scott because it was totally
- 17:36Speaker 3: his idea to watch this film.
- 17:37Speaker 2: This is the son of a Bitch Bowders picked this
- 17:40Speaker 2: movie for.
- 17:41Speaker 3: This the way this is like egging our house and
- 17:45Speaker 3: running off. So but uh, yes, So this is the
- 17:50Speaker 3: twenty twenty four film Red One. It's a Christmas kind
- 17:56Speaker 3: of sci fi, kind of mythology movie, just all sorts
- 18:02Speaker 3: of problems. This was originally released in theaters and then
- 18:08Speaker 3: like like it was released in theaters and within two
- 18:11Speaker 3: weeks it was also on Amazon Prime. Yeah, because it's
- 18:14Speaker 3: an Amazon movie. Yeah. It stars Dwayne the Rock Johnson
- 18:21Speaker 3: and Captain America Chris Evans. This is also the movie
- 18:25Speaker 3: that had the very troubled production where the reports came
- 18:30Speaker 3: out that The Rock was peen and jars and would
- 18:35Speaker 3: always come to the set like super late because he
- 18:37Speaker 3: had to get his work out in. So yeah.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, So the film is basically what's his name? JK. Simmons?
- 18:52Speaker 2: Is that his name?
- 18:53Speaker 3: Yep? J Simmons? Yeah, yeah, who's.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Who's kind of jacked? Yeah a little bit. He must
- 19:02Speaker 2: have been working out with with Dwayne during this.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Uh he got jacked for Justice League and then they
- 19:07Speaker 3: never did anything with that.
- 19:09Speaker 2: He got jacked for Justice League.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Yeah, because he was Commissioner Gordon.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Okay, I never thought of Commissioner Gordon as like someone
- 19:19Speaker 2: that need to be jacked.
- 19:20Speaker 3: But I know, but that's what he did. He was like, Oh,
- 19:22Speaker 3: I'm gonna go get Jack. I'm gonna play Comissioner Gordon.
- 19:25Speaker 2: So well. I mean originally, the first time I saw
- 19:28Speaker 2: him was in a show called OZ. I don't remember OZ.
- 19:32Speaker 2: That was on the prison show HBO. Yeah, okay, yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 2: he was the white supremacist in that. So he wasn't
- 19:42Speaker 2: he wasn't. I mean, he was never like Dwayne Johnson jacked,
- 19:46Speaker 2: but you know, he was a formidable guy that That
- 19:51Speaker 2: was thirty thirty years ago. But anyway, so he plays
- 19:55Speaker 2: he plays Santa Claus or Big Red or Red one
- 19:57Speaker 2: or whatever what is this called Red Red One? Yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 2: Red one Eye. Dwayne Johnson plays his head of security.
- 20:08Speaker 2: The unit is called E l F ha ha ha ha.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I can't remember what what ELF is an acronym for.
- 20:16Speaker 2: But long story short, Santa Claus gets gets kidnapped. Chris
- 20:24Speaker 2: Evans is the the hacker that locates him for the
- 20:28Speaker 2: bad guys and the movie It's a Buddy, It's a
- 20:33Speaker 2: Buddy not cop movie of Dwayne Johnson, uh security director
- 20:38Speaker 2: for Santa Claus and scumbag Captain America teaming up to
- 20:43Speaker 2: travel the world and find him. In hilarity ensues. That's
- 20:49Speaker 2: basically the gist.
- 20:52Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of Christmas lore in there. You
- 20:55Speaker 3: got Crampus, who they in this movie is the brother
- 20:58Speaker 3: of Santa. Apparently the North Pole and Santa's Workshop works
- 21:05Speaker 3: in conjunction with the military to achieve Christmas. Yeah.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Yeah, there's every toy store in the world has a
- 21:15Speaker 2: portal in the back closet that can instantly transport you
- 21:20Speaker 2: to any other toy store in the world. So basically
- 21:26Speaker 2: like there's there's transwarp conduits in the back room of
- 21:31Speaker 2: every every toy store. Yeah, which opens up some questions.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I mean when Toys r Us went under, I mean
- 21:38Speaker 2: that must have decimated the the transwarp network. Yeah, well
- 21:47Speaker 2: that was that was my other question. So, like, does
- 21:50Speaker 2: does the back room in the corner of Macy's where
- 21:53Speaker 2: they sell toys, does that have a portal?
- 21:57Speaker 3: That's a great question.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Does the that that aisle and Walgreens that one side
- 22:03Speaker 2: of it is like school supplies on the other side
- 22:06Speaker 2: his matchbox cars, and does that have a portal? I don't,
- 22:11Speaker 2: I don't know, Yeah, I know yeah, what about what
- 22:17Speaker 2: about other kinds of toys?
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yeah, adult, Yeah, that's a whole different portal. It is
- 22:27Speaker 3: also in the back.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean what if if I have to go
- 22:32Speaker 2: through beads to get to that room anyway? Anyway, Yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 2: So Dwayne Johnson is uh, he's you know, the Secrets
- 22:47Speaker 2: Santa's Secret Service, He's the Triple S. He's not human
- 22:52Speaker 2: apparently because he's a couple of years old. He's in
- 22:56Speaker 2: l he's got he's got a device on his on
- 22:59Speaker 2: his wrist. He can turn toys into real life things.
- 23:05Speaker 2: So he spends half the movie.
- 23:07Speaker 3: What do you say, just the reality? Yeah, which, yeah,
- 23:12Speaker 3: that that whole thing is the weirdest plot device that
- 23:16Speaker 3: should have fixed so many problems, but the yea, Yeah.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what this movie was
- 23:25Speaker 2: supposed to be. It's not a kid's movie.
- 23:31Speaker 3: It's not.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Because I'm watching it and uh, you know some of
- 23:36Speaker 2: the language in it, it's not a it's not a
- 23:38Speaker 2: kid's movie. Yeah, but I'm watching it and I'm thinking,
- 23:44Speaker 2: properly edited, this could be a kid's movie. Right. They
- 23:49Speaker 2: made the decision to edit it this way and make
- 23:52Speaker 2: it this way, So who were they targeting with this
- 23:57Speaker 2: y because I didn't enjoy it. I'm gonna be honest.
- 24:04Speaker 2: I didn't finish it. Oh I tried. I tried real hard.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I watched about seventy five percent of it. Okay, clock
- 24:13Speaker 2: clock was ticked, the show was, you know, the show
- 24:15Speaker 2: was coming up, and I said, I gotta eat something
- 24:17Speaker 2: before this this. Uh. So I don't know if they
- 24:21Speaker 2: saved Christmas. I guess I'll never know unless you tell me, Daniel.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Oh, yeah they did, they did. Congratulations?
- 24:27Speaker 2: All right, good? Yeah, good tonight?
- 24:29Speaker 3: Yeah I can Uh.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Did they also save Captain America's relationship with his son?
- 24:36Speaker 3: So you know they did? You know they did? Yeah?
- 24:42Speaker 3: I had so many problems with this movie on just
- 24:45Speaker 3: a structural level too, Like it didn't make any sense
- 24:50Speaker 3: to me. That So in the film, the Rocks character
- 24:55Speaker 3: and spoilers because who cares. Uh, the Rocks character is
- 24:59Speaker 3: kind of like bitter and angry and he's done with
- 25:03Speaker 3: Christmas because he sees that people are are negative and
- 25:08Speaker 3: so he doesn't want to take part in anything like
- 25:10Speaker 3: that anymore, whereas Santa is like, hey, you know, there's
- 25:14Speaker 3: good in people, and we can you know, we got
- 25:16Speaker 3: to show them a better way. Yeah, I think this
- 25:20Speaker 3: film would have been a slightly more interesting, especially since
- 25:26Speaker 3: you added the component that the rock was was kind
- 25:28Speaker 3: of negative if he somehow took part in the capture
- 25:32Speaker 3: but not not realizing that's what he was doing, right,
- 25:37Speaker 3: like like he's.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Somehow or that or or he thought the uh, the
- 25:46Speaker 4: bad people told him we're gonna do something to Santa
- 25:49Speaker 4: to to make him understand that the world doesn't deserve
- 25:52Speaker 4: his goodness, right, and so he's somehow lowered the security
- 25:57Speaker 4: and and so it's his fault and now he's trying.
- 25:59Speaker 3: To uh make a make amends for what he did
- 26:02Speaker 3: and by saving Santa, right, you could have done that
- 26:06Speaker 3: and that way both guys, both leads have a part
- 26:10Speaker 3: to play in the failure, and now they both have
- 26:13Speaker 3: different reasons for wanting to save Santa. That would have helped.
- 26:18Speaker 3: I think it also didn't make any sense that he's
- 26:21Speaker 3: like constantly quoting how Santa is so good and Santa's
- 26:25Speaker 3: he's the best in people.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Okay, well then why are you abandoning him?
- 26:29Speaker 3: Then? Yeah? Yeah. My other question the entire time is like,
- 26:34Speaker 3: all right, so you're quitting your job, what are you
- 26:36Speaker 3: going to do your mythical creature. Where are you gonna go?
- 26:40Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 26:41Speaker 3: Yeah, Like do you do you have money? Are you
- 26:45Speaker 3: gonna go? Like? Move to Ohio? What are you doing?
- 26:49Speaker 2: So when I watch, when I watch a movie, a
- 26:54Speaker 2: couple of different things happen or can happen if I'm
- 26:58Speaker 2: invested in the story.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I will start running scenarios in my head of how
- 27:06Speaker 2: this will play out if I'm not invested in the story.
- 27:11Speaker 2: At some point, I stop doing that, right and I
- 27:14Speaker 2: and I start I start kind of picking it apart
- 27:20Speaker 2: as I as I watch it, and once that ball
- 27:22Speaker 2: starts rolling, it just it just snowballs. So you can't
- 27:25Speaker 2: come back from that. But another thing that I start
- 27:29Speaker 2: doing is I start considering not considering the characters, but
- 27:34Speaker 2: I start considering the actors, and I start thinking what
- 27:39Speaker 2: brought them to this project and how does this project
- 27:44Speaker 2: impact their career going forward? And I started, and it's
- 27:52Speaker 2: gonna sound weird, feeling sorry for a multimillionaire, but I
- 27:55Speaker 2: started feeling sorry for Chris Evans. Yes, I'm watching because
- 28:01Speaker 2: I'm looking at him and he's, you know, he's given
- 28:04Speaker 2: it his all and he's trying. Sure, he's definitely trying
- 28:10Speaker 2: I enjoyed. I enjoyed some of his interactions with other
- 28:14Speaker 2: characters in the film. He's funny, he's high. But yeah,
- 28:20Speaker 2: but this movie is a turd. And and I and
- 28:24Speaker 2: I started thinking, like you know you have when you're famous,
- 28:30Speaker 2: when you're famous for one particular character, which he is.
- 28:34Speaker 2: If you point, if you grab anybody off the street
- 28:36Speaker 2: and ask them who Christians is, if they know who
- 28:40Speaker 2: he is, they're going to say he's Captain Murry. When
- 28:45Speaker 2: you're famous for one role like that, you have a
- 28:50Speaker 2: finite number of stinkers that you can be a part
- 28:55Speaker 2: of before before no one's going to take a chance
- 28:58Speaker 2: on you again. Right, And I don't know what other
- 29:02Speaker 2: stuff he's done, but we're about to see him as
- 29:07Speaker 2: Captain America again. Yes, And it kind of looks like,
- 29:16Speaker 2: you know, branching out didn't work, going back to what
- 29:22Speaker 2: I'm famous for, And I think that can negatively impact
- 29:26Speaker 2: his career going forward. I think he's going to be
- 29:29Speaker 2: own Captain America unless he can unless he can attach
- 29:32Speaker 2: himself to something good soon, he's going to be tast
- 29:38Speaker 2: and and that's gonna be it for him. And that
- 29:41Speaker 2: makes it.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think it's quite as dire as that
- 29:45Speaker 3: for him, because he has had other roles since then,
- 29:50Speaker 3: Like he was he was in that show The Gray
- 29:53Speaker 3: Man on Netflix. Okay, yeah, he was in. There was
- 29:59Speaker 3: a movie that came out or earlier this year called
- 30:00Speaker 3: The Materialists. He was in that. I'm looking up his
- 30:06Speaker 3: IMDb right now. He did already kind of return in
- 30:11Speaker 3: Deadpool and Wolverine, So I don't think it's that bad
- 30:17Speaker 3: for him. But I do think that they pulled up
- 30:21Speaker 3: the dump trunk of money and got him into this movie.
- 30:26Speaker 3: I don't think this is something he would have just done.
- 30:31Speaker 2: I'm still waiting on my dump truck.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, for sure, right, I look out.
- 30:35Speaker 2: The windows every morning. Yeah stop pulling up.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, same, same. But from what I've read about
- 30:47Speaker 3: the making of this movie, it was such a nightmare
- 30:49Speaker 3: to do. It was. Yeah, the budget of this film
- 30:53Speaker 3: ballooned astronomically. Like it was supposed to be like one
- 30:56Speaker 3: hundred and fifty million. It ended up costing like two
- 30:59Speaker 3: hundred and fifty million for something that was originally going
- 31:02Speaker 3: to go straight onto Amazon. So insane. They did release
- 31:08Speaker 3: it in theaters for like two weeks. They mostly broke
- 31:12Speaker 3: even give or take, so whatever. I'm not crying if
- 31:18Speaker 3: Amazon loses one hundred and fifty million because they're billions
- 31:20Speaker 3: and billions of dollars, so sure they're fine. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:25Speaker 3: I don't think it matters to them. Jeff Bezos will
- 31:28Speaker 3: will be okay.
- 31:30Speaker 2: But it's I don't so ridiculous now that the tile
- 31:35Speaker 2: and all in my house is Amazon brand. Yeatteries in
- 31:39Speaker 2: my house are Amazon brand?
- 31:40Speaker 3: Right? Yes, it's insane. Yeah, yeah, I don't.
- 31:47Speaker 2: I was walking down the street, million dollars on the sidewalk.
- 31:51Speaker 2: It wouldn't be worth his time to bend over and
- 31:52Speaker 2: pick it up, right right, It will be more cost
- 31:55Speaker 2: effective for him to keep walking.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I don't think will be Seen or Red two,
- 32:02Speaker 3: so you know, but this is the movie to also
- 32:09Speaker 3: that made the Rock go like, oh I need to
- 32:11Speaker 3: do other stuff, and he made that was it Smashing Machine?
- 32:14Speaker 3: The the USC Fighter movie that he did recently where
- 32:18Speaker 3: he's trying to be a real actor and he's trying
- 32:19Speaker 3: to get nominated for for an Academy Award with it,
- 32:23Speaker 3: like he's he's out there campaigning for that right now. Yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 3: so I didn't, Yeah, nobody did. It flopped pretty hard?
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah ah wait he game. Now we're getting questions Black Adam.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Black Adams sealed the deal. Black Adams sealed the deal.
- 32:39Speaker 3: For me, Yeah for sure. Yeah yeah. Now we're getting
- 32:44Speaker 3: questions about Captain America returning to the MCU. So nobody
- 32:48Speaker 3: cares about Red One. Yeah that's fine. So yeah, look,
- 32:53Speaker 3: if you got I don't know kids like between I
- 32:55Speaker 3: don't know, seven and eleven, maybe this might be a
- 32:59Speaker 3: fun movie for them. But even then, like the language
- 33:03Speaker 3: is kind of like I don't know if you it's
- 33:05Speaker 3: not all the time, but it is there, so yeah, yeah,
- 33:10Speaker 3: which is surprising because Captain America language.
- 33:13Speaker 2: But yeah, uh.
- 33:17Speaker 3: The The other kind of funny thing for me is
- 33:20Speaker 3: if you know, you know that that dained the Rox
- 33:23Speaker 3: Johnson's former or his ex wife is a woman named
- 33:28Speaker 3: Danny Garcia, and so the number okay, so she's his
- 33:34Speaker 3: is his producing partner. So even though there access, they
- 33:38Speaker 3: still work together all the time, so they have a
- 33:41Speaker 3: decent relationship. So fine, But the giant polar bear creature
- 33:46Speaker 3: who's like the number two at the at the North
- 33:49Speaker 3: Pole is named Garcia. So that's kind of funny if
- 33:55Speaker 3: you know that, right. Yeah, So that cracked me up.
- 34:00Speaker 3: The entire time. But whatever I mean, is this movie
- 34:06Speaker 3: horrifically offensively bad?
- 34:08Speaker 2: No?
- 34:08Speaker 3: But is it dumb? And just got it? Just it happens,
- 34:11Speaker 3: you'll forget about it. You know, three years from now
- 34:14Speaker 3: we'll be like, did we watch that one? Like it's
- 34:16Speaker 3: completely forgettable. So yeah, yeah, that's what it is. But yeah, so, uh,
- 34:24Speaker 3: let's get to listener feedback, because who cares about this movie.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Listener feedback?
- 34:36Speaker 3: All right? If you want to join us, just x
- 34:38Speaker 3: up in the chat hit the X so we can
- 34:41Speaker 3: bring you in. We'd you know, love to have you on.
- 34:45Speaker 3: But while we're talking about that, we also do have
- 34:50Speaker 3: let's see, Yeah, if you want to join us online
- 34:54Speaker 3: or on social media or on Facebook, Yeah, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter,
- 35:01Speaker 3: we're all we're x I guess we're all there. So
- 35:05Speaker 3: you can join us at trek cast TG. Also, you
- 35:09Speaker 3: can leave us a voicemail at five seven zero six
- 35:12Speaker 3: six one zero zero zero one. That's five seven zero
- 35:17Speaker 3: six six one zero zero zero one. Just try to
- 35:21Speaker 3: keep the voicemails about a minute or two, and uh, yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 3: we'd love to have your voicemails. No one will answer
- 35:26Speaker 3: the phone though, you're just leaving a voicemail, and yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 3: we did post in the group that we were going
- 35:36Speaker 3: to be reviewing this movie, and we ended up just
- 35:38Speaker 3: getting a lot of laugh reactions like oh my god,
- 35:41Speaker 3: I can't believe you guys are gonna talk about this movie.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Yeah, so sorry, sorry everyone, sorry.
- 35:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well this is what the last track cast
- 35:51Speaker 3: of the year. It sounds like that's probably what we're
- 35:53Speaker 3: doing here. So yeah, so I guess going out with
- 35:57Speaker 3: the bang. Yeah yeah, yeah. I kind of look at
- 36:00Speaker 3: the schedule to to kind of see what we could
- 36:02Speaker 3: do upcoming, because we got after after New Year's there's
- 36:08Speaker 3: two weeks and then and then uh everyone's favorite Starfleet
- 36:14Speaker 3: Academy releases. So my thought is on the fourth, which
- 36:19Speaker 3: is the would be the next show back, we do
- 36:22Speaker 3: the awards, who won which we need you guys to
- 36:25Speaker 3: vote in the awards, the Treckcast Awards. Those are uplive
- 36:28Speaker 3: right now on trekcast dot com. Go and vote there.
- 36:34Speaker 3: There is a lot of Shenanigan's going on right now
- 36:36Speaker 3: as to who's winning and why. So if you want
- 36:39Speaker 3: your shows to win or your cast members to win,
- 36:43Speaker 3: you need to go vote. But uh yeah, let me
- 36:48Speaker 3: put up the graphic here there it is. Yeah, the
- 36:52Speaker 3: awards are not live treckcast dot com.
- 36:53Speaker 2: There you go.
- 36:56Speaker 3: But the so so the fourth, we can do the
- 36:59Speaker 3: award winners the eleventh, which would be the next show.
- 37:03Speaker 3: After that, we can do predictions for Stirfleet Academy, which
- 37:07Speaker 3: I imagine the predictions is pain. But there you go.
- 37:13Speaker 3: So and we got track and we got jazz Biz,
- 37:17Speaker 3: so let's bring him on the line. There you go, Hey,
- 37:21Speaker 3: jazz Bis. Did did you watch Red One?
- 37:25Speaker 1: I watched it last year in the theater? Oh wow,
- 37:28Speaker 1: for the two weeks is in there?
- 37:29Speaker 3: Yes? Wow, yes, sucker, Yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Poor guys, I want to watch it again.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Not really no, Yeah.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Did you did you get the Red One popcorn bucket
- 37:47Speaker 2: last year?
- 37:49Speaker 5: You know, I think that was before the popcorn buckets, so,
- 37:53Speaker 5: oh wow, before they really took off.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:58Speaker 5: And I remember saying it and about the only good
- 38:02Speaker 5: thing that came out was.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Or you know the only thing I liked about this
- 38:07Speaker 1: movie is Crampus. Actually that part because we see cramp
- 38:14Speaker 1: I don't know if you got up to that part, Dan,
- 38:16Speaker 1: did you?
- 38:17Speaker 2: I did? That's about That's about where I checked out.
- 38:23Speaker 2: So what's that is?
- 38:27Speaker 1: Sleigh was awesome?
- 38:29Speaker 2: Oh? I didn't see a sleigh.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it reminded me of Lobo's like motorcycle kind of.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Yes, yes, it's.
- 38:36Speaker 5: It's pretty pretty wicked, but the movie itself is dumpster fire.
- 38:41Speaker 1: So yeah, where where you You know?
- 38:44Speaker 5: I agree with you about Chris Evans. I don't think
- 38:48Speaker 5: you know, it's sad that he has to come back
- 38:50Speaker 5: as Captain America.
- 38:52Speaker 2: You know, it's don't really wrong. I absolutely, I absolutely
- 38:58Speaker 2: want to see him.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Well, I want to see Downing Bag, you know.
- 39:03Speaker 5: Yeah, about the only person that's not coming back is
- 39:06Speaker 5: Scarlett Johansson so.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Yeah, well because her character is dead.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Well, her character is dead, but I think she's really
- 39:17Speaker 5: mad at Disney.
- 39:19Speaker 2: So yeah, I was gonna say her relationship with Disney
- 39:22Speaker 2: is better than her character.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Yes, yes, well you know, a dumb truck full of
- 39:27Speaker 3: money changes things, so.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, And you know, did you guys anybody see
- 39:33Speaker 5: Avatar this weekend and see the preview.
- 39:35Speaker 3: For I'm supposed to go see it today, okay, which
- 39:41Speaker 3: I have no interest in these movies. I'm going with
- 39:43Speaker 3: my friend. She really wants to go.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Just to warn you, they get captured, so.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Oh great, yeah yeah, yeah, no.
- 39:57Speaker 2: I was gonna say, is there a preview for event
- 40:00Speaker 2: just with avatar? Is that why you're yeah, yes, Do
- 40:05Speaker 2: you want to spoil it for us? Or or does
- 40:08Speaker 2: Daniel not want it to be spoiled?
- 40:11Speaker 3: No, I've seen I've seen the trailer he hit online.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:16Speaker 5: Nothing, there's nothing that's going to spoil it for you. Yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 5: it's just you hear the music and he's walking into
- 40:22Speaker 5: a house and he picks.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Up it's Chris Evans walking into a house.
- 40:26Speaker 5: Yeah, slowly walking into a house, and you hear the
- 40:29Speaker 5: interesting playing really slowly, and then he picks up a baby,
- 40:33Speaker 5: and it says Steve Rogers will return.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Pretty much.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Yeah. The thor one is also leaked. Oh, thor one
- 40:40Speaker 3: is like praying to Odin something along the lines, so
- 40:44Speaker 3: like father, help your your son, I want to reconnect
- 40:50Speaker 3: to the woman I love and something along those lines.
- 40:56Speaker 3: And then it says what's interesting is so it says
- 40:59Speaker 3: Steve Rogers not captain America. And then for for the
- 41:03Speaker 3: thor one it says the god of Thunder will return
- 41:07Speaker 3: not for So that's oh, a couple of things.
- 41:11Speaker 2: First, I think I saw the thor one and I
- 41:15Speaker 2: wasn't sure. I wasn't sure it was real.
- 41:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's real.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Secondly, if they say Steve Rogers, if we know that
- 41:24Speaker 2: Chris Evans is returning, and they say Steve Rogers will return,
- 41:28Speaker 2: they don't see Captain America will return if he had
- 41:33Speaker 2: a son with her and he's Steve Rogers Junior. I mean,
- 41:38Speaker 2: we don't know that he's playing the same character when
- 41:41Speaker 2: he comes back. He may be playing his own son.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Oh, the son would be what seventy.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Yeah, something like that, mid seventies.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but he's got super soldiers, superhuman. You know,
- 41:57Speaker 2: he gave uh, he gave Peggotty the old super Soldier injection,
- 42:01Speaker 2: and nine months later there was a little old super Soldier.
- 42:07Speaker 3: She got a read. Yeah, yeah, maybe man maybe Yeah,
- 42:18Speaker 3: I don't know. Who knows, Yeah, who knows. We'll see
- 42:22Speaker 3: how it turns out. But apparently there's like.
- 42:25Speaker 5: A whole diagram behind you, like how all these movies
- 42:28Speaker 5: are interconnected in all the characters.
- 42:31Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Steve, the reports are every week it will
- 42:36Speaker 3: be a different Avengers trailer for four weeks. So the
- 42:41Speaker 3: reports are first week is Captain America or Steve Rogers,
- 42:45Speaker 3: second weekes Thore, third week is the Doom trailer, and
- 42:49Speaker 3: then the fourth week is the actual movie trailer?
- 42:53Speaker 5: Oh cool, so then we'll get you know, anybody's gonna
- 43:00Speaker 5: is it gonna be playing Black Panther?
- 43:03Speaker 3: We don't know, We don't know, they said when they
- 43:05Speaker 3: did the chair revealed, remember that big like it was
- 43:08Speaker 3: all day long and they did the chairs. Yeah, they
- 43:11Speaker 3: said that was like half the cast that the other
- 43:14Speaker 3: half has not been revealed.
- 43:17Speaker 1: So how long is this movie gotta be?
- 43:19Speaker 5: Because you have so many people in here that everybody
- 43:22Speaker 5: wants the time?
- 43:24Speaker 3: Well in a yeah, yeah, if they do the uh
- 43:31Speaker 3: the the structure that they used in Endgame where it
- 43:36Speaker 3: was Thanos but he was just interacting with everybody. I
- 43:40Speaker 3: imagine a lot of these characters are like one two
- 43:42Speaker 3: scenes and they're done. I think it'll be doom dealing
- 43:46Speaker 3: with everybody. So yeah, we'll see, but a waiting game.
- 43:53Speaker 3: Did ask a relevant start your question?
- 43:55Speaker 2: Though? Uh?
- 43:56Speaker 3: Did you guys see the academy poster, the one that
- 43:58Speaker 3: looks like one treeo? But who do they think is
- 44:01Speaker 3: going to watch the show? They're not going to watch it? Hello, Yeah,
- 44:06Speaker 3: that's that's a pretty rough poster.
- 44:09Speaker 6: He got.
- 44:10Speaker 5: Huh, ask you guys, what did you guys think of
- 44:13Speaker 5: the clip last week of the show.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, the little four minute clip with Paul Jimoni
- 44:20Speaker 3: and and and there he's attacking the academy.
- 44:24Speaker 1: I want to hear dance feedback on this.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't, you don't want to. You know this,
- 44:34Speaker 2: this sounds terrible coming from the host of a Star
- 44:37Speaker 2: Trek podcast, but I really have zero interest in watching
- 44:41Speaker 2: this show after seven years of discovery and it was
- 44:49Speaker 2: only five seasons, but it was seven years. You know,
- 44:54Speaker 2: it's just it's gonna be more of the same. It's
- 45:00Speaker 2: it's gonna be super woke, like overboard woke. You know.
- 45:06Speaker 2: People say, oh, Star Trek was always woke. It was,
- 45:10Speaker 2: and this is that much further than that. That's the thing,
- 45:17Speaker 2: you know. And this is gonna sound totally shallow. Starfleet
- 45:24Speaker 2: officer should not be overweight, full stop.
- 45:28Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 45:32Speaker 2: And I you know, I'm not the epitome of you know,
- 45:38Speaker 2: human perfection. But also I'm also not a starfleet officer,
- 45:45Speaker 2: not a military officer. Yeah, but if you if you
- 45:49Speaker 2: walk the hallways of the Pentagon and you saw colonels
- 45:55Speaker 2: looking the way the chief Medical officer or or the
- 45:57Speaker 2: science officer whoever love in that clip, you would look
- 46:02Speaker 2: down on that person.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 46:04Speaker 2: And yeah, it's not realistic, it's.
- 46:12Speaker 5: Not yeah what just it's the Jim Hadar Like they've
- 46:18Speaker 5: kind of deep bald everybody.
- 46:21Speaker 1: I hate to say, they kind of neutered all. You're like, yep, yeah,
- 46:27Speaker 1: I they're supposed to be like badass. It made him
- 46:31Speaker 1: kind of soy voys so.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Well, I I I hope they explain it and have
- 46:36Speaker 3: a good explanation, but I really doubt they're going to
- 46:41Speaker 3: or the explanation we get is going to be bad.
- 46:43Speaker 3: I really think they're just not going to explain it
- 46:45Speaker 3: and just whatever, it's move on.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think you have great actors in here.
- 46:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Paul Gimony is great. Yeah, great, Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 1: So great actors.
- 46:59Speaker 3: You know, the dog is coming back and he's always good.
- 47:02Speaker 3: You know, I love the doctor. Yeah. So I mean,
- 47:06Speaker 3: I I I want it to be good, but I'm
- 47:09Speaker 3: from what I see it does not look good.
- 47:11Speaker 5: And that poster right there that they're right there, it's
- 47:14Speaker 5: really hurt that.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Yeah, like this almost got universally panned. This poster, yes,
- 47:22Speaker 3: because it confirmed people's fears, right yep. Yeah, like yeah,
- 47:28Speaker 3: it so wants to be something else other than Star Trek.
- 47:32Speaker 3: Like if this was if this was like Space Academy
- 47:36Speaker 3: and just like a sci fi show about recruits in
- 47:40Speaker 3: space and whatever like, it wouldn't be as offensive.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Right, yeah, it's fine. Then I then I could ignore
- 47:46Speaker 2: it and not be angry.
- 47:46Speaker 3: About it, right right, right, exactly, yes, exactly.
- 47:54Speaker 1: And it's not bringing in the new generation of viewers.
- 47:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the other thing, man, like the whole when
- 48:02Speaker 3: they brought on Kurtzman, it was going to be Star
- 48:05Speaker 3: Trek every week, and we're gonna increase the popularity of
- 48:09Speaker 3: the franchise. You know, we should we should check that
- 48:14Speaker 3: the the stats like on Google trends. How Star Trek
- 48:18Speaker 3: doing that would be interesting to see? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 48:25Speaker 3: we may do a show.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Here's here's the thing to circle back to to something
- 48:29Speaker 2: we talked about earlier. And I know I've said this before,
- 48:32Speaker 2: but I'm gonna say, ah, if you keep consuming the
- 48:36Speaker 2: crap that they put in front of you, they will
- 48:39Speaker 2: continue to make that crap. Right. So in the same
- 48:45Speaker 2: way that the uh great material continuum ebbs and flows,
- 48:53Speaker 2: you know, it's kind of the same thing we were
- 48:54Speaker 2: talking about earlier. With the licensing licensing fees, they raise
- 48:57Speaker 2: the licensing fees, they lose licensees because they have less licensees,
- 49:01Speaker 2: they'll have to lower the licensing fees and then draw
- 49:04Speaker 2: in more licensees. The same thing's going to happen eventually
- 49:06Speaker 2: when people say I'm not gonna watch this, this is ship,
- 49:09Speaker 2: I'm not gonna watch it to not get my money right,
- 49:12Speaker 2: And then they're going to see that it's not profitable,
- 49:14Speaker 2: and they're going to look at the data and say,
- 49:16Speaker 2: when was it profitable. Oh, it was profitable these years.
- 49:18Speaker 2: In those years we were doing these things. Let's do
- 49:20Speaker 2: more of those things, right, So I don't know if
- 49:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna watch it.
- 49:29Speaker 1: You're honest. I'm glad you're not like sugarcoating anything. Being
- 49:33Speaker 1: on honest.
- 49:35Speaker 2: You know that's your opinion here.
- 49:37Speaker 3: So I got the Google trends from.
- 49:39Speaker 2: The problem is part of the part of the problem
- 49:41Speaker 2: is checkies themselves. Okay, because I am being honest, and
- 49:46Speaker 2: if I'm honest like this in some of these groups online,
- 49:49Speaker 2: I get called a bigot because the opposite of woke
- 49:54Speaker 2: apparently is bigot or whatever. Yes, yes, yes, me wanting
- 50:01Speaker 2: a click on to act like a klingones makes me
- 50:05Speaker 2: a bigot. Then I'm a bigot. If mere watching a
- 50:08Speaker 2: military officer to look like a military officer and act
- 50:12Speaker 2: like a military officer, if that makes me a bigot,
- 50:14Speaker 2: then I guess some of the thick. So I don't know.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I don't know where to go from.
- 50:18Speaker 5: And where's our good science, Like there's like we missed
- 50:21Speaker 5: our strange New worlds and we missed her.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Yeah, we're the strange new worlds and strange new worlds. Yeah, yeah,
- 50:28Speaker 3: So I got the trends up here to see because
- 50:30Speaker 3: like we were talking about, like they were supposed to
- 50:32Speaker 3: make Star Trek more popular, right, and the interest over time.
- 50:37Speaker 3: You can see these three big spikes, they all correlate
- 50:40Speaker 3: when the movies came out. So yeah, yeah, two thousand
- 50:44Speaker 3: and nine, giant spike, you know, into darkness there you
- 50:49Speaker 3: go in twenty thirteen, and then beyond in twenty sixteen.
- 50:55Speaker 1: But it flatlined.
- 50:58Speaker 3: It is it went from like the Google trend numbers
- 51:02Speaker 3: are like compared to other numbers, so when it says
- 51:05Speaker 3: like thirteen or fourteen twenty five, it's all comparative to
- 51:11Speaker 3: other search terms. But look at man, it is just
- 51:16Speaker 3: it went from double digits to now it's in singles.
- 51:19Speaker 1: You can see where Discovery came out right there that.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Little yeah, you can kind of see we're yeah, little
- 51:24Speaker 3: blips maybe like a pre card and right around here.
- 51:27Speaker 3: But it is just it's dropping interest. It's not getting
- 51:30Speaker 3: any better. Now. You can argue, well, nothing is as
- 51:34Speaker 3: popular as it used to be because people have so
- 51:37Speaker 3: many alternatives for entertainment, right Star Trek isn't just competing
- 51:41Speaker 3: against other sci fi shows. They're competing against like twitch
- 51:44Speaker 3: streamers and TikTok and and you know, video games and like,
- 51:50Speaker 3: so yeah, that's an argument for sure, but it's just
- 51:55Speaker 3: it's gone downhill really bad, and like that's the numbers,
- 51:59Speaker 3: Like that's.
- 51:59Speaker 5: Not you know, I think not having it syndicated on
- 52:03Speaker 5: other platforms hurts. Like they should have syndicated like Discovery
- 52:08Speaker 5: and put it on Netflix let other people watch it.
- 52:12Speaker 5: I mean it was they wanted to grow. Yeah, shows
- 52:16Speaker 5: that you could do that right now.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Well, their argument, their argument at the time was that
- 52:25Speaker 3: Star Trek was so popular. It's one of the things
- 52:28Speaker 3: that made Netflix Netflix.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 52:30Speaker 3: People watched the old Star Trek. It was extremely popular
- 52:33Speaker 3: still was up until they had it and then but
- 52:38Speaker 3: but when that happened, you know, Paramount was like, oh
- 52:42Speaker 3: we could do our own streaming service. We can make
- 52:44Speaker 3: Starfreik one of the co Star Trek one of the Cornerstones,
- 52:46Speaker 3: and people will come to us instead, which kind of worked,
- 52:49Speaker 3: but not really. You know, the big thing that Paramount
- 52:53Speaker 3: Plus is now known for is all the Yellowstone shows
- 52:57Speaker 3: and the Taylor Sheridan shows, basically land Man, and they
- 53:02Speaker 3: lost him to Universe. Yeah, they just lost him to Universal.
- 53:05Speaker 1: So but we get the Duffer brothers on Paramount.
- 53:09Speaker 3: So we will be soon. But you know, yeah, do
- 53:13Speaker 3: they have more magic other than stranger things?
- 53:15Speaker 1: We don't know exactly.
- 53:17Speaker 3: Yeah, so but yeah, start for the Academy. Man, it's
- 53:25Speaker 3: gonna be rough. But you know.
- 53:28Speaker 1: How many episodes ten, eight, twelve?
- 53:31Speaker 3: Too many? I have no idea. We'll find out.
- 53:35Speaker 5: Well, do you kind of wish they'd just dump them
- 53:37Speaker 5: all at once like they do on Netflix? Just just
- 53:41Speaker 5: finish it, just binge watch it all. On this show,
- 53:49Speaker 5: we wanted to go every week.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Well, if we're somehow.
- 53:53Speaker 2: They dumped ten at once. If they dump ten at
- 53:56Speaker 2: once and the first two are horrid, I'm not watching
- 54:01Speaker 2: the other eight, yeah, so putting them out, putting them
- 54:06Speaker 2: out once a week, It's kind of like it gives
- 54:08Speaker 2: me false hope, like, well, yeah, that was terrible, but
- 54:11Speaker 2: next week we'll be better. Yeah, next week will be better,
- 54:13Speaker 2: and I'll tune in next week. And that was pretty bad,
- 54:16Speaker 2: but you know they're not going to do three stinkers
- 54:19Speaker 2: in a row, so I mean they'll lie to me.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Over ten weeks will probably be better.
- 54:24Speaker 3: I mean, if it's good, it's I would want it
- 54:28Speaker 3: to be weak. I know, I'm just saying. If it's good,
- 54:31Speaker 3: I would want it to be week to week.
- 54:32Speaker 1: And I want a pictures of what you guys look
- 54:35Speaker 1: like of the series. Yeah, they look happy, they like.
- 54:42Speaker 2: I desperately want it to be good. I want I
- 54:44Speaker 2: want to be so wrong. I want to be I
- 54:50Speaker 2: want to come on the show. I want to come
- 54:52Speaker 2: on the show and be like, hey guys, I'm here
- 54:56Speaker 2: to eat this big giant bowl of crow because this
- 54:59Speaker 2: show is amazing. I don't know what I was talking about.
- 55:03Speaker 2: I desperately want that to be the case. I don't
- 55:06Speaker 2: think that's gonna be the case.
- 55:07Speaker 3: I don't think so either, but I want to be wrong.
- 55:11Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 55:13Speaker 1: This could be the red one of Star trek.
- 55:18Speaker 3: Oh. I don't know. I don't know right now, we
- 55:21Speaker 3: do have the awards, like I said, going, and I
- 55:23Speaker 3: won't spoil anything, but people need to vote because you
- 55:28Speaker 3: would be surprised what's in the lead right now.
- 55:30Speaker 5: So yeah, are you saying that Bowder's family may be
- 55:34Speaker 5: voted several times? I don't know, but yeah, because I
- 55:38Speaker 5: know last year, I have a feel in that.
- 55:40Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely, people need to vote or else we are
- 55:43Speaker 3: gonna get a crazy new year. When the awards are.
- 55:47Speaker 2: They are they citizens? Those Bowders people, I don't even
- 55:51Speaker 2: think they're allowed.
- 55:52Speaker 3: To vote, Federation citizens. I don't know.
- 55:55Speaker 2: I'm gonna call Cashtel have him look.
- 55:57Speaker 1: At it toy in Michigan.
- 56:02Speaker 2: That that's uh that click on picture of him.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Oh yeah yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah yah yeah
- 56:11Speaker 3: pretty good. Uh yeah, So go vote people. And then
- 56:15Speaker 3: the other thing we got going is our trek Cast
- 56:17Speaker 3: Toy Drive. So I'm actually gonna go donate later today
- 56:21Speaker 3: so I will post my photos. So yeah, just whatever
- 56:26Speaker 3: you're gonna donate to your local charities, just post a

- 56:32Speaker 3: love to see what you guys are given to your
- 56:34Speaker 3: local community. Anything else we want to bring up before
- 56:37Speaker 3: we wrap it up.
- 56:40Speaker 2: I think that's it.
- 56:41Speaker 3: Okay, well, thanks everybody for listening. We'll catch you guys
