- 0:00Speaker 1: Debt can carry so much more than a dollar amount.
- 0:02Speaker 1: It can carry fear, shame, sleepless nights, the fear of
- 0:06Speaker 1: opening another bill. And sometimes that fear says, how am
- 0:10Speaker 1: I ever going to get out of this? And my
- 0:13Speaker 1: guest today knows that feeling. Simone Molasses found herself $ 187, 000
- 0:17Speaker 1: in debt. Today, she's a successful business mentor, author, and
- 0:22Speaker 1: a wealth creation expert. But I don't just want to
- 0:26Speaker 1: talk about where she is today. I want to know
- 0:29Speaker 1: how she got there. How did the debt happen? Because
- 0:32Speaker 1: if you're watching today worried about money or overwhelmed by debt,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I want this conversation to give you something that you
- 0:38Speaker 1: can actually use. This is Wake Up With Marci, a
- 0:42Speaker 1: space for honest conversations about healing, recovery, and women's wellness.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I'm Marci Hopkins. Take a breath. You're safe here. Let's begin.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Welcome all to Wake Up With Marci. Welcome back. I'm
- 0:58Speaker 1: Marci Hopkins. I'm your host. I'm an author, TV host,
- 1:02Speaker 1: motivational speaker, mental health advocate, and the founder of the
- 1:06Speaker 1: Wake Up, You're Not Broken Recovery Foundation. Let's welcome Simone now. Hello, Simone.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Welcome to Wake Up With Marci.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Hi, Marci.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Thank you for having me here.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's so great to have you. And We're going to
- 1:21Speaker 1: talk about debt. There's a lot of people in debt
- 1:24Speaker 1: right now. And there's so much. We're just wrapped up
- 1:29Speaker 1: in fear about getting in debt or if we are
- 1:33Speaker 1: in debt, how we're going to get out. You know,
- 1:36Speaker 1: everything's going up like it's a scary time.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it is a scary time, Marcy, but
- 1:43Speaker 2: I also think you have the choice to buy into
- 1:47Speaker 2: all of that or actually choose something different and create
- 1:51Speaker 2: a different possibility for yourself. I really do think that's
- 1:54Speaker 2: available as well. It's easy to buy into the noise,
- 1:57Speaker 2: you know?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yes, yes. I love that you said that and we're
- 2:01Speaker 1: going to dive into that. But I want to rewind
- 2:04Speaker 1: a little bit. So you yourself were in debt, $ 187, 000
- 2:07Speaker 1: in debt. Can you take us back? Was that something
- 2:14Speaker 1: that was gradual? Like, how did that happen for you?
- 2:18Speaker 3: A good question.
- 2:19Speaker 2: And look, I'm going to say I think the start
- 2:22Speaker 2: of it was my point of view about money.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I really didn't like money that much. I thought it
- 2:28Speaker 3: was annoying.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I was such a creative person and I was like,
- 2:33Speaker 2: I can create, I don't need money. I think I
- 2:35Speaker 2: spent a lot of time trying to prove that I
- 2:38Speaker 2: didn't need money in order to create.
- 2:41Speaker 3: And so I wasn't very honoring of money at all.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And I just kept, I mean, I had a business,
- 2:47Speaker 2: I had many different things. I was really good at
- 2:49Speaker 2: getting credit cards or a loan or whether it was
- 2:52Speaker 2: from a business or a bank or a friend or
- 2:55Speaker 2: something like this. So I ignored it and I avoided
- 2:58Speaker 2: it is probably the key piece.
- 3:01Speaker 3: That got me so in debt.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And there was a conversation I had with my father,
- 3:07Speaker 2: which I remember very distinctly. He was a chartered accountant
- 3:10Speaker 2: and he, He, you know, he gave me advice all
- 3:14Speaker 2: the time, et cetera. And I remember one day he
- 3:16Speaker 2: drew me this graph, Marcy, and it was like, and
- 3:19Speaker 2: in this graph he said, okay, because I was like,
- 3:22Speaker 2: I just want to create.
- 3:23Speaker 3: And he was like, okay, so here's your creative piece
- 3:25Speaker 3: of the pie. Here's your finances. Here's this. You know,
- 3:29Speaker 3: he drew this graph.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I was so petulant, you know, hands on hips, stomping, going,
- 3:34Speaker 2: that's not my graph. And I said, this is my graph.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And it was like 95% creation. And he said, Simone,
- 3:41Speaker 2: so patiently, he said, Simone, if you don't have this
- 3:46Speaker 2: and pointed at the financial, he said, you can't have
- 3:49Speaker 2: all of this. And it was at that moment, it
- 3:52Speaker 2: was a very like really distinct moment, I remember, because
- 3:55Speaker 2: I went, I knew he was right. I knew I
- 3:57Speaker 2: had to start looking at my finances and not ignore it.
- 4:00Speaker 2: So I think the key piece of me getting in
- 4:02Speaker 2: debt was I was avoiding money and ignoring it.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I think a lot of us could say that.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I mean, I had an ex of mine.
- 4:10Speaker 2: He used to tell me how he used to get,
- 4:12Speaker 2: I mean, the old day school when you used to get,
- 4:14Speaker 2: you know, mail, the window envelope sort of thing.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 2: And he knew that that was a bill. So he said,
- 4:20Speaker 2: I literally should just put them in the drawer and think, oh,
- 4:23Speaker 2: they'll go away.
- 4:23Speaker 3: And I'm like, seriously? And he's like, yeah, I did.
- 4:27Speaker 3: I just thought they'd go away.
- 4:28Speaker 2: But I, you know, it may sound stupid, but there's
- 4:31Speaker 2: a lot of people who just think it's going to
- 4:33Speaker 2: go away if I don't pay attention to it.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly. And I, I never thought a lot about money. Well,
- 4:41Speaker 1: I went both sides. Okay. Cause I think a lot
- 4:44Speaker 1: of this also is about how we're raised, right? Like our,
- 4:48Speaker 1: our mindset around money. And a lot of people talk
- 4:51Speaker 1: about that. So I was really raised by my grandparents that,
- 4:55Speaker 1: that were raised in the depression. Right. So I had
- 5:00Speaker 1: a lot of fear around money, losing money. And you
- 5:02Speaker 1: had to always watch what you were doing around money. Um,
- 5:07Speaker 1: but then in my mind, I was always like, I'm
- 5:10Speaker 1: going to be rich. I didn't have to worry about money,
- 5:14Speaker 1: but then I could relate to you. Like, I just
- 5:16Speaker 1: want to be creative. Right. So I can, I can
- 5:20Speaker 1: relate to a lot of that. And so, but in
- 5:24Speaker 1: that moment, so you kind of, you like had that
- 5:26Speaker 1: wake up call, right. When your dad say that to you.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And so what happened for you after that? And like,
- 5:34Speaker 1: what kind of emotions were you going through?
- 5:37Speaker 2: Well, you know, I want to pick up on one
- 5:39Speaker 2: thing that you said about how you're raised. And because
- 5:41Speaker 2: I think this is pretty important as well, because the
- 5:44Speaker 2: way I was raised was, you know, meat and three veg,
- 5:47Speaker 2: a glass of milk at the dinner table sort of thing.
- 5:50Speaker 2: But we were not allowed to talk about money or business.
- 5:53Speaker 2: And I always remember being pretty interested in it. And
- 5:55Speaker 2: my dad was a chartered accountant, as I said, but
- 5:57Speaker 2: he was also an entrepreneur. So he'd have all these
- 6:00Speaker 2: things going on.
- 6:01Speaker 3: And any time I asked a question, we were shut
- 6:04Speaker 3: down by my mother.
- 6:05Speaker 2: And we had to talk about, you know, just these
- 6:08Speaker 2: insane topics that I was like, I'm so bored.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Why are we talking about this?
- 6:13Speaker 2: And so I think it's really important if you're listening
- 6:15Speaker 2: to this, if your kids.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Ask you something, give them the information.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:20Speaker 3: You know, how much does something cost? What does it
- 6:22Speaker 3: take to do something?
- 6:23Speaker 2: You know, I remember I had a stepkid at one
- 6:25Speaker 2: stage and, you know, he was sort of traveling with
- 6:28Speaker 2: us and without us, et cetera. And he came to
- 6:32Speaker 2: me one day and he said, Simone, I'd like to
- 6:33Speaker 2: travel more with you.
- 6:34Speaker 3: And I said, okay. I said, let's work that out.
- 6:37Speaker 3: And I said, can you do me a favor? And
- 6:39Speaker 3: he said, yeah. I said, will you contribute to us
- 6:41Speaker 3: making more money?
- 6:43Speaker 2: Simple question, right? And he goes, why do you need
- 6:46Speaker 2: to make more money if I travel with you? I said, well,
- 6:49Speaker 2: we've got like the plane ticket, you know, and I
- 6:51Speaker 2: explained everything. And he looked at me and he went, okay,
- 6:55Speaker 2: and went into his bedroom. And I swear to God, Marcy,
- 6:58Speaker 2: we started making more money. Because for me, money is also,
- 7:02Speaker 2: it's not linear. And I think that's one thing you
- 7:05Speaker 2: have to come out of is looking at it as,
- 7:08Speaker 2: you know.
- 7:09Speaker 3: A plus B equals C, it doesn't.
- 7:11Speaker 2: It's like, there is an energy around money.
- 7:14Speaker 3: And when we be a different energy around money, more
- 7:17Speaker 3: money shows up.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And I can, like, there's so many stories about how
- 7:21Speaker 2: it's like, wow, that was showed up like magic.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, what if it is magic that it showed up,
- 7:25Speaker 3: you know?
- 7:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I agree that, well, I've learned this now
- 7:30Speaker 1: and I believe wholeheartedly in the idea of the energy, right?
- 7:36Speaker 1: It just like a flow, right? you put it out,
- 7:38Speaker 1: it comes back.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Think about it. Right. And there was a time where
- 7:45Speaker 1: I had my show and like everything was looking really good,
- 7:50Speaker 1: but I was just using our money, you know, it's
- 7:54Speaker 1: kind of like, oh, this is what I'm contributing because
- 7:57Speaker 1: I want to give back. But then I went to
- 8:00Speaker 1: this networking event. We're all at this big dinner table
- 8:04Speaker 1: and it's kind of like, what struggles are you having
- 8:07Speaker 1: right now? Or, you know, just kind of bring something up.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And somebody was asking about my business and I said, well,
- 8:13Speaker 1: I'm not really making money right now. And the woman said, oh,
- 8:17Speaker 1: so then it's a hobby. And I got so upset.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Like I was anchored by that. But then I went
- 8:27Speaker 1: back to my room and I'm like, why do I
- 8:29Speaker 1: have so much anger? Like, Now that I'm healed, I
- 8:32Speaker 1: have the mindset where I can start asking myself, like,
- 8:35Speaker 1: why am I feeling this way? And it came down
- 8:38Speaker 1: to fear. I was afraid. I was afraid to ask
- 8:42Speaker 1: for money. I didn't know my worth. And I swear
- 8:47Speaker 1: to God, once I owned it, the next day somebody
- 8:51Speaker 1: came into my life and like I started making money
- 8:54Speaker 1: on the show. Yeah. Yeah.
- 8:57Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 8:57Speaker 2: And Marcy, there's something there that you said also is
- 9:00Speaker 2: I think most of us are like empowered or educated
- 9:04Speaker 2: how to deal with failure but not how to deal
- 9:06Speaker 2: with success. So most people feel it's so much more
- 9:09Speaker 2: familiar or predictable.
- 9:11Speaker 3: If, you know, you gave it a go.
- 9:13Speaker 2: You gave it a shot but it didn't work out. Okay,
- 9:15Speaker 2: so now you're the same as everybody else. But when
- 9:19Speaker 2: you are successful... that's.
- 9:21Speaker 3: A different world.
- 9:22Speaker 2: And there is a lot of projections and expectations that
- 9:25Speaker 2: come at you, whether it's from the public or family
- 9:28Speaker 2: or friends, et cetera. And nobody really educates you on
- 9:32Speaker 2: how to deal with success. So I think when you
- 9:35Speaker 2: say fear, I'm like, how many people are actually okay
- 9:38Speaker 2: with failing, but they're not okay with succeeding because they
- 9:42Speaker 2: have all these different insane points of view of what
- 9:45Speaker 2: that means too. Like, I can't tell you the amount
- 9:47Speaker 2: of conversations I've had with people where they're like, well,
- 9:50Speaker 2: that means everybody's going to want my money or I'm
- 9:52Speaker 2: going to have to pay for everything or I'm going
- 9:53Speaker 2: to have to, you know, and it's like, no, if
- 9:55Speaker 2: you have money, you also have choice. Choice doesn't get
- 9:59Speaker 2: a when you have money. In fact, you get to choose.
- 10:04Speaker 2: There's many different ways that you can, you know, get
- 10:06Speaker 2: around that. It's like, oh, you know what, I'd so
- 10:08Speaker 2: love to lend you money except I've just invested in,
- 10:11Speaker 2: you know, X, Y, Z.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Like it's your money, you get to choose.
- 10:15Speaker 2: So I think that's really important for people to get
- 10:17Speaker 2: because there's so many insane points of view we have
- 10:20Speaker 2: that like trap us and create this mindset of, no,
- 10:25Speaker 2: I'll just be the same as everybody else.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I like what you said about being trapped because I
- 10:30Speaker 1: think that programming is right, for so many years and everybody,
- 10:35Speaker 1: the voices all around us, like we do become trapped.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So I want to get back to you.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Sure.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And now you're in debt. Your father has said your
- 10:48Speaker 1: pie is not working. Yes.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So what turn of events happened for you?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Look, over quite a few years, like I said, I
- 11:01Speaker 2: was– creative. So I was creating a business. I had
- 11:05Speaker 2: a business called Good Vibes For You. And I wanted
- 11:09Speaker 2: to change the world at a really young age too.
- 11:12Speaker 2: And so I was creating all this merchandise, et cetera.
- 11:15Speaker 2: And I was working in the music industry that had,
- 11:18Speaker 2: you know, t-shirts, stickers, magnets, et cetera, that had sayings
- 11:21Speaker 2: on them that I perceived if someone read, they could perhaps,
- 11:24Speaker 2: you know, change their day, change the world. And then
- 11:28Speaker 2: I came across Access Consciousness and I I met Gary Douglas,
- 11:32Speaker 2: the founder of Access.
- 11:34Speaker 3: And I was so intrigued.
- 11:36Speaker 2: He was so different in the way he was talking
- 11:39Speaker 2: that I went, I need to go listen to this
- 11:41Speaker 2: guy talk.
- 11:43Speaker 3: And I did.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And he was doing a seminar on relationships. And I
- 11:46Speaker 2: wasn't really that interested in relationships. Like I was like, eh,
- 11:50Speaker 2: you know, but I wanted to hear him. And when
- 11:54Speaker 2: I went to see him speak, he was like irreverent.
- 11:57Speaker 3: He swore. He was, like, funny.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And the one thing he said, which I thought was
- 12:03Speaker 2: so brilliant, he said, don't trust me, trust you. And
- 12:07Speaker 2: it was one of the first times. It was at
- 12:08Speaker 2: a Mind, Body and Spirit Festival. And I'd been going
- 12:10Speaker 2: to these places and they were all like, hey, we
- 12:12Speaker 2: have the answer. And it was the first person that said, hey,
- 12:14Speaker 2: trust you, trust yourself. And so... I ended up, you know,
- 12:19Speaker 2: let's cut to the, you know, the fast story here.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I ended up getting involved with access and becoming an
- 12:25Speaker 2: access consciousness facilitator and using the tools, which were fabulous.
- 12:29Speaker 3: And my life was changing everywhere.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And the only tools I was refusing to use were
- 12:34Speaker 2: the access consciousness tools around money. And I remember sitting
- 12:38Speaker 2: there one day and he was in Australia and he
- 12:40Speaker 2: was doing a seminar literally called the money class. Yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 2: And I'm sitting in the class and he's talking about
- 12:46Speaker 2: all these tools and in my head I can hear
- 12:49Speaker 2: myself going, oh, here we go again, talking about money.
- 12:52Speaker 2: And then I sat there and I was like, what
- 12:54Speaker 2: are you doing, Simone?
- 12:56Speaker 3: Because I knew somewhere that I was in debt. I
- 12:58Speaker 3: didn't know how much.
- 13:00Speaker 2: And this is a pretty key piece for me is
- 13:04Speaker 2: I used to smoke cigarettes, right? And I remember at
- 13:09Speaker 2: one stage I wanted to give up and I told
- 13:10Speaker 2: all my friends, hey, I'm going to give up smoking.
- 13:13Speaker 2: And I noticed that most people around me were like,
- 13:16Speaker 2: are you going to be able to do that?
- 13:17Speaker 3: I'm not so sure.
- 13:18Speaker 2: There wasn't this huge support. So when I eventually did
- 13:22Speaker 2: give up smoking cigarettes, I just quit cold turkey and
- 13:26Speaker 2: I didn't tell a soul. And it took about two
- 13:28Speaker 2: or three weeks before somebody actually noticed.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I know. And I went, okay, so this is
- 13:34Speaker 3: like a switch in my head. I need to go.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I'm a smoker. I'm not a smoker, which I noticed
- 13:39Speaker 2: you're 11 years sober. Congratulations, by the way.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Thank you, Nicole. I think you.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Need to find that courage deep inside you to address
- 13:47Speaker 2: whatever it is that you've decided you're fearful of, et cetera.
- 13:51Speaker 2: So I took that and I did that with money.
- 13:55Speaker 2: And I went, okay, you need to go home and
- 13:57Speaker 2: you need to start looking at this, Simone. So it
- 13:59Speaker 2: was that money class seminar that Gary was talking about,
- 14:03Speaker 2: all these very pragmatic tools to use. And I went
- 14:07Speaker 2: home and I sat in my office and And I
- 14:09Speaker 2: started looking at all of my bills. It took me
- 14:12Speaker 2: probably about a week, like on it. And I looked
- 14:14Speaker 2: at them because I had them all filed. It wasn't
- 14:16Speaker 2: as though I had them in a drawer.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I knew they were there. I just wasn't paying them,
- 14:20Speaker 3: you know.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And then when I finally looked at everything and I realized, okay,
- 14:25Speaker 2: you're 187,000 Australian dollars in debt.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I did freak out. yeah like 20 minutes.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I was like what am I going to do pulled
- 14:33Speaker 2: myself a glass of wine I remember sitting in the
- 14:35Speaker 2: kitchen going oh my god and then I went okay
- 14:38Speaker 2: you need to change this like there's no one no
- 14:41Speaker 2: one's going to come magically knocking on the door going
- 14:43Speaker 2: don't worry about it it's all gone I need to
- 14:45Speaker 2: make a choice and I need to choose something to
- 14:47Speaker 2: change it which I get the energy of you being
- 14:50Speaker 2: 11 years sober my ex is now I think four
- 14:52Speaker 2: years sober and I've watched what he's chosen and you
- 14:56Speaker 2: need to find that courage deep inside you to make
- 14:59Speaker 2: the change that you keep talking about, but maybe never choose,
- 15:01Speaker 2: you know? So that's what I did with money. And
- 15:04Speaker 2: I started to work out how much I was in debt.
- 15:07Speaker 2: And then the second thing I did was how much
- 15:09Speaker 2: does it cost to run my life? And I wrote
- 15:12Speaker 2: down everything and I'm not talking on a budget. I'm talking,
- 15:14Speaker 2: you know, okay. I like to get a massage once
- 15:18Speaker 2: a month or something. Like I wrote down everything that
- 15:20Speaker 2: I was choosing and, so that I could see how
- 15:23Speaker 2: much it was. And Marcy, the first time I did
- 15:27Speaker 2: this ever, it was $ 8, 000 a month that it cost
- 15:31Speaker 2: around my life. And I wasn't earning close to $ 8, 000.
- 15:35Speaker 2: And I sat there again and I was like, oh
- 15:37Speaker 2: my goodness. But I realized, I went, okay, I can
- 15:42Speaker 2: freak out and I can go to what I think
- 15:45Speaker 2: is impossible or I can be in question, which is.
- 15:47Speaker 3: A large part of access consciousness is ask a question.
- 15:50Speaker 2: So I started asking what could I create and what
- 15:53Speaker 2: could I generate that would bring me more money? And
- 15:56Speaker 2: one of the things I was really keen for access
- 15:59Speaker 2: as well. So I went, okay, every Wednesday night I
- 16:02Speaker 2: had this free introduction to access. Then I'd have like
- 16:05Speaker 2: this little coffee tea break, you know, and if you
- 16:08Speaker 2: wanted to stay, it was like $ 50 and we could
- 16:11Speaker 2: do like, it's called a clearing night. And before I
- 16:14Speaker 2: knew it, Marcy, my apartment was filled with people on
- 16:17Speaker 2: Wednesday night and I went, that was easy to actually
- 16:21Speaker 2: create more money, you know? And from there, I kept
- 16:24Speaker 2: using these money tools and there's a lot of them.
- 16:27Speaker 3: And like I said, they're very pragmatic.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I've mentioned, I talk about my whole journey in getting
- 16:32Speaker 2: out of debt joyfully, but I started using them and
- 16:36Speaker 2: listening to these, like the whispers and being as present
- 16:41Speaker 2: as I could with.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Money, noticing when I avoided it.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Like I even did things like, do you remember Pink
- 16:46Speaker 2: Floyd's song, Money?
- 16:49Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. Money, money, money.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Yeah, money. I had that as my ringtone.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Ah, love it.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Because I was like, I need to put money in
- 16:56Speaker 2: my face because I'm avoiding it. So how do I
- 16:59Speaker 2: put money in my face and not avoid this topic,
- 17:02Speaker 2: this subject? One of the things they did was I
- 17:05Speaker 2: rang every single person that I owed money to, including
- 17:08Speaker 2: like banks, institutions, friends, companies, whatever, every single person. And
- 17:13Speaker 2: I said, hey, I'm very aware that I owe you
- 17:15Speaker 2: this money. I don't have the money right now, but
- 17:19Speaker 2: I'm going to do the absolute best I can to
- 17:21Speaker 2: pay you back. And some people I was like, the
- 17:23Speaker 2: best I can do right now is $ 50 a month.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:26Speaker 2: You know, and Marcy, I was astounded at the feedback
- 17:30Speaker 2: I got because I wasn't avoiding it.
- 17:32Speaker 3: And I picked up the phone and spoke to them.
- 17:34Speaker 2: There was this one company, I owed them $ 15, 000 and
- 17:37Speaker 2: he said to me, Simone, my wife and I want
- 17:40Speaker 2: to take you out to dinner. And I went, Matt,
- 17:42Speaker 2: I just told you I can pay you $ 50 a
- 17:45Speaker 2: month and I owe you $ 15, 000. I'm going to do
- 17:47Speaker 2: the best I can to pay you back and you
- 17:49Speaker 2: want to take me out to dinner. And he said, Simone,
- 17:51Speaker 2: we believe in you. He said, we think what you're
- 17:54Speaker 2: doing is great. And he said, can we please take
- 17:56Speaker 2: you out to dinner?
- 17:56Speaker 3: It was wild.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I love what you said. You're talking about tools.
- 18:03Speaker 1: And I think it's so important that everyone realizes that
- 18:07Speaker 1: there are all of these amazing tools. And when we
- 18:11Speaker 1: put them into action, almost daily, I mean, it's like
- 18:16Speaker 1: a daily thing. Like you're saying, making choices every day.
- 18:22Speaker 1: You can make bad choices or good choices. What's going
- 18:26Speaker 1: to change your life? And if you put those tools
- 18:28Speaker 1: into action... because I can relate to that money. Like
- 18:32Speaker 1: anytime money comes up, I don't want to hear about it.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I don't want to, you know, like I just shut
- 18:36Speaker 1: myself down to it a lot of times. And I
- 18:41Speaker 1: don't know what that is. Like I just, maybe it's
- 18:46Speaker 1: that avoidance, right? It's the avoidance.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Also, how many other people are doing it? That's what
- 18:50Speaker 2: I'm going to call up. Everybody else is doing it.
- 18:52Speaker 2: So why don't you do it?
- 18:54Speaker 1: Right. And I think it's the first time that, right
- 18:58Speaker 1: now for me, I mean, transparently that now being paid
- 19:02Speaker 1: for these like, uh, retreats that I'm doing, uh, and
- 19:07Speaker 1: for sobriety and such. And it's the first time I'm like,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I love what I'm doing and I believe in what
- 19:14Speaker 1: I'm doing and I am worthy of that. Yeah. Yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And it's just that I think it's a lot of
- 19:23Speaker 1: times it's just that constant, like, It's very, very hard.
- 19:27Speaker 1: And I could see myself sitting in that same class going, oh, great,
- 19:30Speaker 1: here we are about money again.
- 19:31Speaker 3: But why? Yeah, yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Why? You know, and I think that's amazing. But what
- 19:39Speaker 1: about the fear for you?
- 19:41Speaker 2: Well, one of the things I would say is, which
- 19:45Speaker 2: I would talk about is, I'm not so sure. I
- 19:47Speaker 2: would say fear is not, I think we create fear.
- 19:50Speaker 2: I don't think it's real I think we're not looking
- 19:52Speaker 2: at something and it's a lot of the times we
- 19:55Speaker 2: might be excited about a change it might be something
- 19:58Speaker 2: so different and so we go to oh I'm scared
- 20:02Speaker 2: oh I've got fear about this rather than like you
- 20:04Speaker 2: know what I'm gonna jump I'm gonna leap and I'm
- 20:06Speaker 2: gonna find out like you know what next? And, you know,
- 20:11Speaker 2: I think a lot of people choose to live their lives,
- 20:14Speaker 2: like I said, being predictable, familiar, especially now. I mean,
- 20:18Speaker 2: it's crazy what's going on in the world now. Like
- 20:22Speaker 2: there's not, I don't think one country that I'm like, yay,
- 20:25Speaker 2: they've got, you know, a great government. It's like, there's
- 20:27Speaker 2: insane governments everywhere, insane wars, legislations, all of this and more.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Social media is, I mean, I'm on it. And But
- 20:36Speaker 2: I think my algorithm is like horses and recipes. But
- 20:40Speaker 2: it's crazy.
- 20:42Speaker 3: There's so much.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Noise, as I mentioned right at the beginning. So what
- 20:47Speaker 2: are you going to be in the face of that noise?
- 20:49Speaker 2: Because if you want to get a lie out there,
- 20:52Speaker 2: the one thing you do is you keep telling the lie.
- 20:55Speaker 2: So it's perpetrated among people. So how many lies are
- 20:58Speaker 2: we being told right now? And what if there is
- 21:01Speaker 2: a different possibility that you can create again with your choices?
- 21:06Speaker 2: But again, you've got to find that courage. You've got
- 21:09Speaker 2: to find that strength and say, what am I going
- 21:10Speaker 2: to choose with my life?
- 21:12Speaker 3: Like, you know, for me, it's like I.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and I, look, I, you know, if we fast track,
- 21:19Speaker 2: You know, I got out of debt.
- 21:21Speaker 3: I used the tools. I made money.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I stopped struggling with money and I started having money.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And that's a really different mindset too. And then I
- 21:31Speaker 2: made some really great investments. And I've got, you know,
- 21:34Speaker 2: I own my home. I've got commercial investments, residential investments.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I have a really good stock portfolio.
- 21:40Speaker 3: I've invested in different companies.
- 21:42Speaker 2: The place I'm at at the moment, El Ugar, It's,
- 21:45Speaker 2: you know, I have over a million dollars invested in here.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Like I have a lot of different things going on
- 21:51Speaker 2: and I've diversified a lot. And then probably about two,
- 21:55Speaker 2: three years ago, I was sitting at home, Marcy, and
- 21:58Speaker 2: I went, huh, is this it? I wasn't stressing about money,
- 22:03Speaker 2: but I'd sort of ticked all the boxes that is
- 22:06Speaker 2: successful in this reality. And so I started looking at
- 22:09Speaker 2: what do I really want to create with the money
- 22:11Speaker 2: that I'm making? So I actually started selling off some
- 22:14Speaker 2: of my real estate and investing more in this place
- 22:17Speaker 2: here at El Ugar because what we're creating here is incredible.
- 22:21Speaker 2: And I've also invested more in horses here because the
- 22:25Speaker 2: Costa del Sensei horse I think is fabulous and I'd
- 22:27Speaker 2: like to see more of that breed. So now I
- 22:30Speaker 2: think I'm in a different phase, Marcy, and I'm creating
- 22:34Speaker 2: a life.
- 22:35Speaker 3: That's a lot of living for me.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I'm 56, like choosing things that.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I really enjoy and yet.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Where can I put my money that is creating the
- 22:44Speaker 2: future that I desire? Like this afternoon I have a
- 22:48Speaker 2: meeting with a guy who's based in Guatemala and it's
- 22:50Speaker 2: about regenerative farming. And I would love to see food
- 22:53Speaker 2: forests all over the world. So I'm talking to him
- 22:56Speaker 2: this afternoon about what we could create here at Alugar.
- 22:58Speaker 3: For me, I'm going to put money into that.
- 23:01Speaker 2: That matches an energy of what I would like to
- 23:04Speaker 2: see on the planet rather than listening to all of
- 23:06Speaker 2: the crazy, insane news that you get.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I agree.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I don't do that.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I don't.
- 23:13Speaker 1: And I do try to see the other side of
- 23:16Speaker 1: it because I just think we are fed over and
- 23:18Speaker 1: over these negative ideas. And I'm not saying there are
- 23:22Speaker 1: not a lot of negative things happening. I am not
- 23:25Speaker 1: pretending that's true, but I do know there's a lot
- 23:28Speaker 1: of good that's happening too. And we're just not being
- 23:31Speaker 1: fed that.
- 23:33Speaker 3: And I think we need to ask, what can we be?
- 23:35Speaker 1: You know, we got to give back. We got to
- 23:37Speaker 1: do something.
- 23:38Speaker 2: What can we do and be that would create change
- 23:40Speaker 2: in the world? You know, sitting back, watching it, isn't
- 23:42Speaker 2: going to do anything. What are you going to actually
- 23:44Speaker 2: like choose?
- 23:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:46Speaker 1: And listen, yes. One person can make a difference. Yes.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:50Speaker 1: You know, so you can, you can, and there's so
- 23:53Speaker 1: much joy in that.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:58Speaker 1: There's so much like, I love what I do because
- 24:01Speaker 1: it's making a difference in someone's life, you know? And,
- 24:05Speaker 1: And that's incredible. That is the reward. Let's talk to
- 24:09Speaker 1: people out there right now.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:12Speaker 1: So they, you say the most people don't actually have
- 24:16Speaker 1: a money problem. They have a point of view problem. Yes. Right. So,
- 24:21Speaker 1: but someone may be thinking, Simone, I can't pay my mortgage.
- 24:25Speaker 1: My credit cards are maxed out. I have a money problem.
- 24:29Speaker 1: What do you mean by a point of view problem?
- 24:32Speaker 1: When the numbers themselves are very real.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Well, it's funny because Marcy, I think sometimes I created
- 24:38Speaker 2: myself to be so in debt. So I, I could
- 24:40Speaker 2: have the stories and people would look at me and go, Oh,
- 24:43Speaker 2: she's always had money. And she's talking about that, you know,
- 24:45Speaker 2: because I'm this, I was the same. It's like, I, man,
- 24:48Speaker 2: I would have rent due on Friday and no money.
- 24:52Speaker 3: And so Wednesday I'd be like, I've got to hustle.
- 24:54Speaker 3: How am I paying rent? You know?
- 24:56Speaker 2: And I would do things like avoid the person I
- 24:57Speaker 2: was paying rent to. Like I, I really had to hustle.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I remember at one stage, like I was the, really
- 25:05Speaker 2: big thing to come to America, to see Gary Douglas
- 25:08Speaker 2: at this seminar and like paying for my economy ticket,
- 25:12Speaker 2: you know, all of that, like struggling. But there's no
- 25:15Speaker 2: way in the world I could afford a hotel. So
- 25:17Speaker 2: I was sleeping on someone's lounge room floor on a mattress,
- 25:20Speaker 2: you know, like I was doing all those different things.
- 25:22Speaker 2: And So I was there. So I hear you. And yes,
- 25:26Speaker 2: I do say that nobody needs to have a money problem.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Because if you tap into money all around the world
- 25:32Speaker 2: right now, there's not a lack of money. There's people
- 25:35Speaker 2: choosing a lack. Now, I think a lot of people
- 25:38Speaker 2: might hate me when I say this, but I really
- 25:40Speaker 2: don't care.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Okay. Because it's you.
- 25:44Speaker 2: That is creating that every single thing that you have
- 25:47Speaker 2: in your life right now is because you chose it.
- 25:50Speaker 3: You created it.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Everything you don't have is because you didn't choose it
- 25:53Speaker 2: and you didn't create it.
- 25:54Speaker 3: So what are you going to choose now?
- 25:57Speaker 2: There is, I see people waiting for this job that
- 25:59Speaker 2: it's like, oh, this is going to be, you know,
- 26:02Speaker 2: it's not enough money. So I won't say yes to this,
- 26:04Speaker 2: et cetera. Like I just started saying yes to everything.
- 26:08Speaker 2: You know, and there's an interesting story. Many, many years ago,
- 26:12Speaker 2: Sydney has Gay Mardi Gras and that's where I grew
- 26:14Speaker 2: up in Sydney. And I wanted to go to all
- 26:17Speaker 2: the parties and it costs money to go to all
- 26:19Speaker 2: the parties, like the whole weekend, you know, and I
- 26:22Speaker 2: had no money. And I was like, what can I do?
- 26:24Speaker 2: And this is what I've done my whole life.
- 26:26Speaker 3: What can I do?
- 26:27Speaker 2: So my friend and I, and it was when glitter,
- 26:29Speaker 2: I mean, glitter's always been out there, but it was
- 26:31Speaker 2: when glitter was huge. So we had got these, I
- 26:34Speaker 2: had enough money to buy these little round tubs. We
- 26:36Speaker 2: got some glitter and this, you know, body gel and
- 26:39Speaker 2: we mixed all these tubs up and we literally walked
- 26:41Speaker 2: down the main street of Oxford.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Street with this big basket of glitter going.
- 26:45Speaker 2: $ 5 for glitter, hugs for free, you know, and yelling
- 26:50Speaker 2: this out.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Innovative. Exactly.
- 26:53Speaker 3: And we sold so much glitter. We also got a
- 26:55Speaker 3: lot of hugs, which was really cool and made a
- 26:57Speaker 3: lot of people.
- 26:59Speaker 2: But we made it work, you know, and it's like
- 27:02Speaker 2: I've done so many things that I've made it work.
- 27:05Speaker 2: So I think what you need to do too, and
- 27:07Speaker 2: there's one tool, get a pen and paper. I'm like
- 27:10Speaker 2: old school. Get a pen and paper.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:13Speaker 2: And I want you to write down 20 things that
- 27:15Speaker 2: you enjoyed. Don't think about the money. 20 things that
- 27:18Speaker 2: you enjoy, okay?
- 27:19Speaker 3: It could be anything. It could be baking cookies.
- 27:21Speaker 2: It could be, you know, I don't know, going for
- 27:23Speaker 2: a walk or, you know, playing with animals, anything.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Write down 20 things.
- 27:28Speaker 2: And I want you to sit with that list and
- 27:30Speaker 2: look at it and go, can I create a revenue
- 27:32Speaker 2: from any of these? Can I create some money? And
- 27:36Speaker 2: My friend in Santa Barbara, California did this at one
- 27:39Speaker 2: stage and she loved dogs and she would walk her
- 27:42Speaker 2: dog all the time. Her next door neighbor was like, Hey,
- 27:44Speaker 2: do you have time to walk my dog? You know,
- 27:46Speaker 2: and paid her before you knew it. She ended up
- 27:48Speaker 2: having a very successful dog walking business in Santa Barbara.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Like she was walking 20 dogs a day and getting
- 27:53Speaker 2: paid for it. So there are things out there.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 27:57Speaker 2: There might not be the job that you want right now,
- 27:59Speaker 2: but go out there and create something. You could literally,
- 28:03Speaker 2: I mean, I remember as kids, we used to go
- 28:04Speaker 2: wash people's cars, you know, there's so many different things
- 28:08Speaker 2: that you can create. But if you have that mindset
- 28:11Speaker 2: of it's not possible and I'm poor and I can't
- 28:13Speaker 2: afford to pay the mortgage, who.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Are you being?
- 28:16Speaker 2: Are you being everybody else? Like, is it time to
- 28:19Speaker 2: stop that? You know, what else is possible?
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that. And it, but I think there's
- 28:24Speaker 1: a couple of things like I have the college degree
- 28:27Speaker 1: that's beneath me. Or, you know, I have too much fear.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Like what, you know, what if it doesn't work? Right.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Or it's going to, I don't know what to do.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Or I get, how can I put all that time
- 28:41Speaker 1: into that? Right. I don't have any time.
- 28:44Speaker 2: So, yeah, but see, most people use like so you
- 28:47Speaker 2: have something called the best reality, which is like matter, energy,
- 28:50Speaker 2: space and time. And people put things into the equation
- 28:53Speaker 2: of time, which always brings judgment and also what matters.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Like so say you said I've got a college degree
- 28:59Speaker 2: that's beneath me. So then you're deciding like you're making
- 29:02Speaker 2: something matter and meaningful more than what you could choose.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I remember when I traveled overseas for quite a few
- 29:09Speaker 2: years and then I came home and I was really,
- 29:12Speaker 2: I didn't know what I wanted to do. I was
- 29:14Speaker 2: just like really confused. And a friend of our family's
- 29:19Speaker 2: had a clothing business and they were importing, exporting, et cetera.
- 29:23Speaker 2: And he had quite a few jobs available. And I
- 29:26Speaker 2: went to see him and I said, can I get
- 29:28Speaker 2: a job in the warehouse? And he looked at me
- 29:30Speaker 2: and he went, Simone, it's packing orders in the warehouse.
- 29:32Speaker 3: And I said, I know.
- 29:33Speaker 2: And he said, you're so overqualified for that. And I went,
- 29:37Speaker 2: I really don't know what I want to do right now.
- 29:39Speaker 2: I'm just really happy packing orders like can I can
- 29:42Speaker 2: I please do this and he was like okay so
- 29:46Speaker 2: I did And then, of course, you know, before long
- 29:48Speaker 2: I was like, okay, I'm done with packing orders. And
- 29:50Speaker 2: then I became the salesperson. And then I became the national,
- 29:54Speaker 2: you know, head of sales and all. Like I worked
- 29:56Speaker 2: my way up. But it was such a beautiful adventure
- 29:59Speaker 2: because I knew every aspect of that business. And by
- 30:02Speaker 2: the time I left, I remember I walked into his
- 30:05Speaker 2: office and he went, you're leaving, aren't you?
- 30:06Speaker 3: And I said.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Yeah, because I was getting, you know, I was like,
- 30:11Speaker 2: I've done everything. And he said, yeah, there's nothing else
- 30:13Speaker 2: I can offer you except for shares in the company.
- 30:15Speaker 2: And I haven't even done that to my kids yet,
- 30:17Speaker 2: you know, and I was like, that's fine. But I
- 30:19Speaker 2: chose to work in the warehouse and I didn't think
- 30:21Speaker 2: it was beneath me. I was, it was matching an
- 30:24Speaker 2: energy of what I required at that moment. And so
- 30:28Speaker 2: what if you, because how many times do you choose
- 30:31Speaker 2: based on.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Somebody else's point of view?
- 30:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Like stop caring about what other people think.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 30:37Speaker 3: And start choosing for you.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Stop caring what other people think and stop comparing yourself
- 30:43Speaker 1: to others. Yeah. Because what you're saying is exactly what
- 30:49Speaker 1: I did too. Like you make yourself invaluable by learning
- 30:55Speaker 1: all aspects of the business. Yeah. And as you continue
- 30:58Speaker 1: to learn, you continue to grow with the business because
- 31:02Speaker 1: you're making yourself more and more valuable.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:06Speaker 1: And one of the things that you said way early
- 31:09Speaker 1: on about talking to the kids, and I wanted to
- 31:13Speaker 1: share the story at that time, but I think it
- 31:17Speaker 1: could be fitting now. It's like that budget, right, that
- 31:19Speaker 1: you created for yourself and children asking questions. It is
- 31:26Speaker 1: so important because my daughter took a class in high
- 31:32Speaker 1: school and it was around budgeting and she had to
- 31:35Speaker 1: create a budget so she could literally see what it
- 31:38Speaker 1: would take to pay rent, you know, to do her
- 31:41Speaker 1: hair because, you know, her hair is so important. Like
- 31:44Speaker 1: what are these things going out? All these things. And
- 31:48Speaker 1: it has, and save money. Saving money became a priority
- 31:52Speaker 1: for her. And it was like, so eyeopening. And I
- 31:57Speaker 1: think anybody at any age can, It's such a valuable lesson.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Me too. And I really do too.
- 32:05Speaker 2: And there's two things that I want to add to
- 32:07Speaker 2: this that I think is gold is, and this is
- 32:11Speaker 2: part of the Access Consciousness Tools and Working With Money,
- 32:14Speaker 2: is I have two accounts. One, I call my honor
- 32:17Speaker 2: account because it's honoring of me. And this was one
- 32:20Speaker 2: of the hardest things I ever chose, Marcy, is because
- 32:23Speaker 2: one of the tools is put 10% away of everything
- 32:26Speaker 2: you earn that's just for you. It's not a savings account.
- 32:29Speaker 2: It's not to use in a rainy day. It's not
- 32:31Speaker 2: to pay an unexpected bill. And I was like, this
- 32:35Speaker 2: is crazy.
- 32:35Speaker 3: I owe all this money.
- 32:37Speaker 2: And you're saying put $ 10 of every $ 100 away just
- 32:41Speaker 2: for me. And so it's called an honoring account. And
- 32:44Speaker 2: I started that and gosh, it made a difference. Like
- 32:48Speaker 2: there was an, like after a look, a while I
- 32:51Speaker 2: looked at it because I did all these tools for
- 32:52Speaker 2: about three months. And I thought at the end of
- 32:55Speaker 2: three months, if I don't like this, because I can
- 32:57Speaker 2: just quit, you know, and I noticed at the end
- 32:59Speaker 2: of three months, it wasn't like I had a whole
- 33:01Speaker 2: lot of money, but my point of view had changed
- 33:04Speaker 2: around money and I had more of a relaxation with it.
- 33:07Speaker 2: So I have this honor account that I put 10%
- 33:10Speaker 2: away in, And, you know, over the years, because it's
- 33:13Speaker 2: been quite some time, I've done different things. Like I
- 33:16Speaker 2: never buy anything that's going to cost me money. Like
- 33:19Speaker 2: I wouldn't buy a horse.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:21Speaker 2: But I would buy something that had intrinsic value. Like
- 33:23Speaker 2: I've bought gold, silver, platinum, even a silverware set. So
- 33:28Speaker 2: then at home I'm eating from silver and But it's
- 33:32Speaker 2: part of my 10% account. And it's like, it feels
- 33:34Speaker 2: really good when you're just, you know, eating from silver
- 33:37Speaker 2: and drinking from a silver gobbler, you know, and it's
- 33:40Speaker 2: part of my 10% account. And then the second thing
- 33:43Speaker 2: I do is I have, and it's literally called this
- 33:46Speaker 2: in my bank.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Account, joy of taxes.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Because I think people would do everything they can to
- 33:50Speaker 2: avoid tax. I mean, you can be creative, right? But
- 33:55Speaker 2: what if you also put 10% away in your joy
- 33:57Speaker 2: of taxes account? So when the tax bills come in,
- 33:59Speaker 2: because that was one of the second things I was like,
- 34:02Speaker 2: I was never ready for it. And it's like, okay,
- 34:04Speaker 2: so if you put 10% away for your honoring and
- 34:07Speaker 2: 10% away for your joy of taxes, you create, you
- 34:10Speaker 2: start to create a different reality with money. And don't,
- 34:13Speaker 2: like if you hear me, if you're listening to me
- 34:15Speaker 2: and you go, oh, but I need to save money
- 34:16Speaker 2: first or I need to pay this first.
- 34:18Speaker 3: No, you need to start this. That will change the energy.
- 34:24Speaker 1: And also I hear you change the words.
- 34:28Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 34:29Speaker 1: The, what you call it, how you identify with it.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Words really matter.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, yes. Yeah. It's not just a 10% account.
- 34:38Speaker 2: It's an honoring account because it's honoring of you. And
- 34:41Speaker 2: what I noticed Marcy, and this is what I'm talking
- 34:43Speaker 2: about with the magic and not linear, you know, cause
- 34:46Speaker 2: I'd have all these bills and you'd be like, well,
- 34:48Speaker 2: I've got to pay the bills.
- 34:49Speaker 3: And the first thing I did, like I'd literally earn
- 34:51Speaker 3: a hundred dollars. The first thing I did, and I
- 34:53Speaker 3: still do it.
- 34:53Speaker 2: $ 10 in my honoring account before I do anything else.
- 34:57Speaker 2: So the first thing you're doing is you're honoring you.
- 35:00Speaker 2: You're not honoring your bills. But also I'm going to
- 35:04Speaker 2: say too, like say if I got a phone bill in,
- 35:06Speaker 2: I also practice gratitude. Like I would literally sit there
- 35:09Speaker 2: with my phone bill and go, okay, I'm super grateful
- 35:12Speaker 2: for this phone bill. I'm super grateful for the electricity
- 35:15Speaker 2: bill or grateful for my rent because I get to
- 35:17Speaker 2: live in this house or the mortgage or whatever. So
- 35:20Speaker 2: it was creating that energy of gratitude for the bills
- 35:24Speaker 2: that you had because it was contributing to your life
- 35:27Speaker 2: that you were choosing, you know, instead of this like, oh,
- 35:30Speaker 2: the phone bills come in again.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I talk about gratitude all the time. And it is
- 35:35Speaker 1: one of the things that was life changing for me.
- 35:39Speaker 1: It really, truly is. And I know it's hard. You're like,
- 35:43Speaker 1: my life sucks. How can I be grateful? Right. But.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Is does it really like there is always something to
- 35:51Speaker 1: be grateful for? It's just what just being thankful for
- 35:55Speaker 1: those little things. And it it takes your mindset from
- 35:58Speaker 1: a place of lack. And once you shift that energy
- 36:03Speaker 1: that you're talking about, you start bringing in more things
- 36:07Speaker 1: that you'll be grateful for. It doesn't happen overnight. Yeah.
- 36:11Speaker 1: But it really it is something you start looking at
- 36:15Speaker 1: everything in a different way. And you also become very solution-based, right?
- 36:22Speaker 1: So this is happening. Okay, what can I do to
- 36:26Speaker 1: change it, right? But what do you say to somebody that,
- 36:30Speaker 1: I mean, it's really difficult for somebody that doesn't trust themselves.
- 36:35Speaker 1: They're always second-guessing themselves, right? They're the ones that have
- 36:38Speaker 1: to ask 20 people before they make a decision.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Or chat GPT now.
- 36:43Speaker 1: All right, or chat now.
- 36:44Speaker 2: I was in the hairdressers not long ago and someone
- 36:48Speaker 2: was asking chat gbt if they should go to fiji
- 36:50Speaker 2: and i was like what i'm like why would you
- 36:54Speaker 2: ask i mean i would do research like on a
- 36:57Speaker 2: couple of ai things but i don't ask them like
- 37:00Speaker 2: should i go do this that's my choice you know
- 37:03Speaker 2: so anyway i love that yeah i find it really
- 37:06Speaker 2: interesting sorry i got distracted then what was your question.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Well, somebody that doesn't trust themselves and they have to
- 37:13Speaker 1: ask everybody for basically permission.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:17Speaker 2: That's a tough one because to begin with, it's like, again,
- 37:21Speaker 2: who are you being?
- 37:22Speaker 3: Like, where were you taught not to trust you?
- 37:26Speaker 2: So you might need to do a little bit of
- 37:29Speaker 2: work on that. Like, is it like, was your mother
- 37:32Speaker 2: not trusting your father, et cetera?
- 37:34Speaker 3: Like, did you live in an.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Environment where people weren't trusting of anything? And it's really
- 37:40Speaker 2: starting with the basics and there's a tool in Access
- 37:44Speaker 2: Consciousness we call five elements of intimacy. And the five
- 37:47Speaker 2: elements of intimacy, I think you need to start with you.
- 37:51Speaker 2: And it is trust, honor, allowance, vulnerability, and gratitude. And
- 37:57Speaker 2: I think a lot of people look for these elements
- 38:00Speaker 2: outside of themselves. And at one stage, what I did
- 38:03Speaker 2: was I had them on post-it notes and I had
- 38:05Speaker 2: them on my bathroom mirror. So every day when I'm
- 38:07Speaker 2: brushing my teeth, at least twice a day, I'm like
- 38:11Speaker 2: looking up going, okay, so where have I not been
- 38:13Speaker 2: trusting of myself, honoring of myself, being vulnerable with myself,
- 38:18Speaker 2: being grateful, you know, with myself, being an allowance of
- 38:22Speaker 2: myself and just not judging it, but just having a
- 38:26Speaker 2: moment and going, okay, now what would it take to
- 38:28Speaker 2: change that? If I was being an allowance of myself,
- 38:31Speaker 2: because most people, you spend your time judging yourself and
- 38:34Speaker 2: it's like, well, hang on. What if I learned to like,
- 38:37Speaker 2: what's so funny about me? I'm not laughing about it.
- 38:39Speaker 2: like you mentioned before about choices and making bad or
- 38:43Speaker 2: good choices. Most people try and spend their whole entire
- 38:46Speaker 2: life to make the right choice. What if you just chose,
- 38:49Speaker 2: because as you choose, you figure it out. It's like,
- 38:51Speaker 2: we've all made bad choices, but what if it wasn't,
- 38:55Speaker 2: you label it a bad choice, but what if it
- 38:57Speaker 2: was a choice?
- 38:58Speaker 3: You gained awareness. Okay.
- 39:00Speaker 2: I'm going to choose something different now. And so then
- 39:02Speaker 2: you can choose again. Like, Keep choosing, keep choosing, keep choosing.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Don't sit back and wait and try and get the
- 39:09Speaker 3: right choice. Just choose.
- 39:12Speaker 2: So those five elements of intimacy, I would start to
- 39:14Speaker 2: have a look at that as well.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Say those one more time.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Trust, gratitude, allowance, vulnerability, and honor.
- 39:23Speaker 1: And what do we do with those?
- 39:25Speaker 2: Ask to be them for yourself. Because I think once
- 39:28Speaker 2: you can have that with yourself... and also what I
- 39:30Speaker 2: would do too is I would do with my body
- 39:32Speaker 2: like where am I not trusting my body you know
- 39:34Speaker 2: um recently you know I've mentioned horses I have a
- 39:39Speaker 2: few horses and there's an exercise we call the trust
- 39:42Speaker 2: exercise and And you basically get on a horse bareback,
- 39:46Speaker 2: someone's holding the horse, maybe you've got someone on either
- 39:48Speaker 2: side and, you know, you're bareback and you can lie
- 39:51Speaker 2: back on the.
- 39:52Speaker 3: Horse and get them to take a couple of steps.
- 39:55Speaker 2: The first time I ever heard about that, I was like, no, no, no,
- 39:57Speaker 2: it's not for me, you know, because I was so
- 39:59Speaker 2: frigging controlling, you know. I tried it once and slid
- 40:04Speaker 2: off the horse and now it's like I would ride
- 40:07Speaker 2: my horse bareback and, like, ride her around and I
- 40:11Speaker 2: have a great time doing it and, My friend Gary
- 40:14Speaker 2: Douglas said to me, and what do you notice? And
- 40:16Speaker 2: I said, I notice I have to trust me. I
- 40:19Speaker 2: have to trust my body. I have to trust her
- 40:22Speaker 2: and also trust the universe. I think we tend not
- 40:26Speaker 2: to trust the universe. And the universe, my point of
- 40:29Speaker 2: view is, will not deliver anything to you that you
- 40:32Speaker 2: cannot handle. And relax with it. Like, you know, it's
- 40:36Speaker 2: a marathon, not a sprint. You're not going to get
- 40:38Speaker 2: this overnight. But just start. Like, you know, what I said,
- 40:41Speaker 2: I wrote down these things on a post-it note. I
- 40:44Speaker 2: now actually have this pen that you can write on
- 40:46Speaker 2: a bathroom mirror and you can, you know, take it
- 40:48Speaker 2: off because I'll have like a question there or something
- 40:49Speaker 2: for myself because I'm continuously working on myself and asking
- 40:54Speaker 2: what else is possible today, you know. So you write
- 40:57Speaker 2: those five elements of intimacy down somewhere and just take
- 41:01Speaker 2: a moment and be like, okay, so what if I
- 41:03Speaker 2: was choosing to be an allowance of myself today or trusting, honoring,
- 41:07Speaker 2: grateful for myself as we spoke about.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Love that. And as Abraham Hicks says, you got to
- 41:14Speaker 1: enjoy the journey. Yes.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Live, live, live, live.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Yeah. And when you're not feeling it, you just say,
- 41:22Speaker 1: everything's always working out for me. And it really does
- 41:26Speaker 1: create a shift. And one of the things that you
- 41:29Speaker 1: say is learn to laugh at yourself. And I remember
- 41:32Speaker 1: early on in my healing journey, I was like such
- 41:37Speaker 1: a perfectionist because I was so afraid of of people
- 41:41Speaker 1: seeing the collapse on the inside. And so it's about
- 41:45Speaker 1: a year into my journey. And I started a show
- 41:49Speaker 1: called Coffee with Marcy and I had to let go
- 41:53Speaker 1: of being perfect. Right. So I made a mistake or something.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I just learned to laugh at myself. And when you
- 41:59Speaker 1: laugh at yourself, like you're not bringing all this attention
- 42:02Speaker 1: to it.
- 42:03Speaker 2: And it's one of the most appealing things in the
- 42:05Speaker 2: world because you're being you. Yeah.
- 42:07Speaker 3: You're not being perfect, Marcy. You're being you.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Real.
- 42:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:13Speaker 2: That is one of the most attractive things in the
- 42:15Speaker 2: world is someone that just shows up as you.
- 42:17Speaker 1: That was a huge lesson for me. So I just,
- 42:20Speaker 1: I like that, like you were talking about like, all right,
- 42:25Speaker 1: so what if it didn't work out the way that
- 42:27Speaker 1: you wanted to? What was the lesson? And you make
- 42:32Speaker 1: another choice. Yeah. Yeah. And so Simone, talk to us
- 42:37Speaker 1: a little bit about your books, right? And your programs.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Well, we have, the first book I ever wrote is
- 42:44Speaker 2: called Joy of Business and it's translated into, I think,
- 42:47Speaker 2: 20 languages right now. And look, I've always loved business
- 42:52Speaker 2: and I was doing seminars, et cetera, and talking about this.
- 42:56Speaker 2: And a friend of mine said, you have to write
- 42:57Speaker 2: a book on this. And I called it Joy Business
- 43:01Speaker 2: and a bunch of people said, don't do that.
- 43:03Speaker 3: And I said, why?
- 43:04Speaker 2: And they said, because no one can, no one will
- 43:06Speaker 2: have Joy Business. And every translator says to me, Simone,
- 43:10Speaker 2: in our language, Joy Business doesn't make sense. And I'm like, yeah,
- 43:12Speaker 2: it doesn't make sense in English either.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Like those words put together, you know, but I was like,
- 43:16Speaker 3: let's go for it.
- 43:18Speaker 2: So it's got, again, a whole lot of really pragmatic
- 43:20Speaker 2: tools on everything from hiring staff to the energies, the
- 43:24Speaker 2: different things that's required in business, you know, like create
- 43:27Speaker 2: a connector mover, all these different things. Then the second
- 43:30Speaker 2: book I wrote is called Getting Out of Debt Joyfully,
- 43:32Speaker 2: which we mentioned. And again, pragmatic tools on how to
- 43:36Speaker 2: get out of debt and not just get out of debt, but.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Increase your wealth. All of the tools are good for
- 43:42Speaker 3: that too.
- 43:43Speaker 2: And then the third book that I wrote, I actually
- 43:46Speaker 2: wrote with my ex and it's called Relationship. Are you
- 43:50Speaker 2: sure you want one? And the whole idea of that
- 43:53Speaker 2: too was I think we're living in an age now, Marcy,
- 43:57Speaker 2: where relationship is a choice. It doesn't have to be
- 44:00Speaker 2: this necessity. You know, like years ago, it was, if
- 44:03Speaker 2: you weren't, didn't have a partner, you know, it was wrong,
- 44:06Speaker 2: you know.
- 44:08Speaker 3: And I think that's changed. I'm really grateful for that.
- 44:10Speaker 2: So I would like people to question themselves. Is that
- 44:13Speaker 2: actually what you would like? And what if we could
- 44:16Speaker 2: choose relationship the way it works for us and not
- 44:20Speaker 2: the same as what everybody else is? Like we, you
- 44:23Speaker 2: could choose anything, you know, you hear about people having
- 44:25Speaker 2: a house next door to someone or being.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Someone for the week.
- 44:28Speaker 2: You know, for me personally, it's like, I don't actually
- 44:30Speaker 2: want to sleep in a bed with someone every night,
- 44:32Speaker 2: but I love sleeping in a bed with someone a
- 44:33Speaker 2: few nights a week, you know, but so that's me.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Listen, I, and that my house here, because my husband
- 44:41Speaker 1: goes to work every morning, really, really early. And, I
- 44:45Speaker 1: sleep in the guest room because I want my sleep.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Now in other homes, when we're together on the weekends,
- 44:51Speaker 1: whatever we're together. Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:54Speaker 2: But and to make that choice and not judge it
- 44:57Speaker 2: is beautiful. And that's actually living. So there's a whole
- 45:01Speaker 2: lot of things in that book about that as well.
- 45:05Speaker 2: You can Google my name, Simone Millicis. That's my website, Instagram,
- 45:09Speaker 2: all of that. And I have I have retreats as well.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I travel all over the world doing seminars. A lot
- 45:16Speaker 2: of them are sort of advanced access consciousness classes, but
- 45:20Speaker 2: I do a lot that have no prerequisites.
- 45:23Speaker 3: So yeah, there's a lot of different things going on.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Well, I'll have all the links below.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Thank you so much for being a part of wake
- 45:31Speaker 1: up with Marcy and helping us to think differently about money.
- 45:36Speaker 1: And I just loved all that you shared and all
- 45:38Speaker 1: that you are doing.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Thank you so much, Marcy.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Thank you for having me on here and thank you
- 45:42Speaker 2: for what you create as well.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Oh, thank you so much. So much. And, Listen, for
- 45:48Speaker 1: all of you out there, maybe you are struggling with
- 45:55Speaker 1: alcohol use disorder. And if that is part of your story,
- 45:58Speaker 1: that is why I wrote my book, Wake Up, You're
- 46:01Speaker 1: Not Broken. And it's a compassionate guide to help you
- 46:05Speaker 1: and support you through the first 30 days as a
- 46:08Speaker 1: gentle companion, just a hand to hold. And it's all
- 46:12Speaker 1: the tools and recovery that helped me to rebuild my life.
- 46:16Speaker 1: And you can find that on Amazon. And I just
- 46:20Speaker 1: want to thank you all again for being here and
- 46:23Speaker 1: sharing in this time. And if this resonated with you,
- 46:27Speaker 1: please like, subscribe, comment, share it with somebody who needs
- 46:31Speaker 1: to hear it, because I think we all need to
- 46:33Speaker 1: hear it. And remember, you are not broke in your beginning,
- 46:38Speaker 1: and it is time to wake up to your worth.
- 46:40Speaker 1: And I will see you next Thursday with an all
- 46:42Speaker 1: new episode.
