- Lucas: Karibu tena, Luna. Ready for another Swahili adventure? Luna: Absolutely, Lucas. Last time we were at the market, and I still remember how to buy spices. Lucas: That's the spirit. Today, let's go somewhere every traveler ends up sooner or later: the post office. Luna: Oh, good. I actually need to send a postcard to my friend. Perfect timing. Lucas: Then you're in luck. First, you need to find the post office. Repeat after me: Posta iko wapi? That means 'Where is the post office?' Luna: Posta iko wapi? Posta iko wapi? Lucas: Exactly. And if someone asks you, you can answer, 'Posta iko hapa.' But let's stick with the question today. Luna: Got it. So when I walk in, I say... Nataka stempu. I want a stamp. Lucas: Nataka stempu. You nailed it. Stempu is 'stamp.' Say it with me: Nataka stempu. Luna: Nataka stempu. Nataka stempu. Easy. Lucas: Now, if you're sending a letter, you say, Natuma barua. That's 'I am sending a letter.' Luna: Natuma barua. Natuma barua. So 'barua' is letter, right? Lucas: Right. And when you hand it over, you might want to ask the price: Barua hii ni kiasi gani? How much is this letter? Luna: Barua hii ni kiasi gani? Barua hii ni kiasi gani? That's a mouthful, but I like it. Lucas: You did great. Now, what if you're sending a package instead of a letter? You'd say, Natuma kifurushi. Luna: Natuma kifurushi. Kifurushi means package. I'm sending a package. Lucas: Perfect. Let's put it all together. Imagine you walk into the post office. You say, 'Posta iko wapi?' Well, you're already there, so maybe not. But you could ask, 'Natuma barua.' Luna: Then they'd probably ask, 'Barua hii ni kiasi gani?' And I'd say, 'Nataka stempu.' Lucas: And if you're sending a box, you say, 'Natuma kifurushi.' That's the whole package deal. Luna: Oh, that's a good one. I love how practical these phrases are. I can actually use them. Lucas: That's the goal. Before we wrap up, let me mention something. We keep this podcast free of ads because we believe learning should be enjoyable. And honestly, the phrases we learn are so useful. Lucas: Exactly. So let's do a quick review. Say them with me one more time: Posta iko wapi? Nataka stempu. Natuma barua. Barua hii ni kiasi gani? Natuma kifurushi. Luna: Posta iko wapi? Nataka stempu. Natuma barua. Barua hii ni kiasi gani? Natuma kifurushi. I feel ready for the post office now. Lucas: That's wonderful. Practice these until we meet again, and you'll be a pro. Tutaonana baadaye. Luna: Tutaonana, Lucas. Thanks for the great lesson.
