- Nate: tonight on the North American Friends Movie Club. An ocean of water. A forest of kelp. And a secret world hidden beneath the waves. We watched the 2020 documentary film, My Octopus Teacher. So scoot under your movie watching rock. And hold your breath for as long as you can. Because we're the best swimmers in podcasting. And this show is our loud snorkel breathing. BLEH is what it sounds like when we do a podcast. We're currently doing one. This is the North American Friends Movie Club. And you might notice something about the name of our show. And that's Friends Comes Before Movie Club, because it's more important to us. It's as important to us as the ocean is to an octopus. Okay. So I got to ask my two little guppies how we swim. How are we swimming? It's good. Yesterday was Mother's Day. So happy Mother's Day to your moms. And to the mother of the podcast, mother, Kate. you. And I thought it was so sweet. You both texted me. Happy Mother's Day. That meant a lot. Thank you. You're welcome. We're very nice people. You guys really are. You really are. Did you guys see your moms? I did. I went and brought my mother a plant. Same as me. See, my mom's a big gardener, so instead of buying her flowers, I buy her plants to make multiple flowers. I brought my mother a hanging basket and a candle. Perfect. Great job, boys. Yep, we did it. What kind of plant did you get your mom, A Dahlia. Not a black one. Not like that movie that we didn't like. This one. These were purple and pink-ish. Are there really black dollyos? Probably. I don't know. Is that a I don't know what it is. It's a flower. OK. I don't know what kind of flowers were in the hanging basket, but they were purple and white and the candle smelled nice. And I had a weird saying on it, though. It said, grandmother's stories last forever. it could be kind of an insult, actually. Like it could be kind of saying like. Wrap it up. I think it means like for like her story will last forever. I think that's what they were trying to say. Her influence is eternal. It could be taken. Yeah, she's a long winded bag. Yeah. Yeah. I like it. Yeah. I got my family plants too. I got my sisters and my mom's succulents and I bought ⁓ older containers for them. And I don't know what I was thinking. but I decorated the plant holders and I started with, okay, so I have a lot of stickers because when you're done with therapy sessions, you get a sticker if you want one. And so I have Bluey stickers and nobody wants the Bluey stickers. Everybody wants the Tim Robinson stickers. So I put Bluey stickers on there and then I was like, no, And then I got the paint markers out and I did like this nice, and this is for my mom's. Actually, this was just the first one. And I was like, I'm going to write a quote on it. You will, you can look at this pot that I decorated for my mother and you would easily think an eight year old girl did it. There was nothing sophisticated about my application. That's nice though. The paint smeared on parts. And you know, How I know I have a good mother. She absolutely loved it. She loved it. And she loved the quotes I put on it. Anyway, she's very sweet. You could have put questionable symbols on it and she'd still like it. That's true. So I went real simple with Jamie and Jennifer. They just got some ⁓ detailing on the top trim and two stickers. I learned my lesson. I would also like to extend a happy Mother's Day to Jamie and Jennifer and Susan. Yeah, me too. I want to I want to extend that to all three as well. Remember the order that it went in. Jamie, Jennifer, Susan. No, no. That was first. ⁓ OK. Me then. ⁓ Do you guys want to hear what's been happening? I would love to. I'm sitting. On the edge of my seat. was kind of scared, actually, while you were talking about the pots. I'm like, ⁓ no, this might be what's happening. So I'm glad we're officially moved into the what's happening. that was some bonus content. That was OK. I watched what Brent's when he wins on a quiz, it's gone forever. Right. Kent Murphy. Kent Murphy and. ⁓ Nick made me watch a video and he was like, this is the guy from Brent's thing. And I was like, what do you mean? And then he showed me the video and I laughed very hard. He says, I have three testicles. Like he yells very funny things, not just gone forever. Yeah. I just am sharing that. The long quote is gone forever. Aaron Hernandez. but we just shorten it up to gone forever. Yeah, I didn't want to think about the murderer, Aaron Hernandez, every time I played your sound. So I ended up that. I ended up that's good. That's good. It is funny in retrospect to yell out random things when you do something amazing like that. Yeah. And they've done studies where if you yell when you're physically exerting yourself, you will do it harder. Like whatever the thing is. I saw that with guys breaking bricks with a karate chop. It's like he did it without a yell and it didn't work. wonder, like, you know, when a car falls on top of your baby and the mother's got mother strength. I wonder if they yelled, if they were, they get the mother strength and then they yelled something maternal as they were doing it. Would they be extra, extra strong? I would think so. Yep. Yep. Yep. I would imagine that when they're doing it, they're going ⁓ like, I would have to be making noise. Well, you guys know moms, they're always yelling. So she's chances are pretty good. Mother's mother's stories last forever. Mother's stories last forever. I won FIFA World Cup tickets. I told you guys that right. And Nick is going and I wanted I have a little bit of commentary before the World Cup comes to Kansas City. I they have been hyping this up like we're going to get 40 million people to come visit and since the beginning, I've been saying this chill out guys, like everybody chill out. ⁓ So I, there's a hotel right across from the big stadium and it's not chief stadium and it's not GHA stadium because FIFA won't let you use any branded content that is not soccer related. So it's just Kansas city stadium now. Well, anyway, the, ⁓ the hotel across the street from it, For the night that Nick, not that Nick would stay in a hotel ⁓ when you have a home. That's what I mean. That that was anyway. Guess how much it costs on the night. Yeah. Okay. Guess what? What I could, what we could go right now and rent a hotel room for what price? And then what's the price going for a Saturday night when the world cups playing in that stadium? I'm saying 189 a night. 160 for a hotel right now. OK. Tonight. And World Cup, I'm going to say $475. I'm going to go 350, the greedy pigs. Listen to this shit. $72. On a normal night. Fuck, that's cheaper than the mortgage. $845. $845, you hogs. Isn't that stupid? Hogs. It's probably cheaper to put a window out after the game and then get sent to jail for the night. A hundred percent, a hundred percent. First store, first store outside the stadium. Yeah. Boom. The garbage can through it right to jail. Free dinner. to jail. Shower. Free delousing. Probably get make some friends. For Mother's Day, wanted all I wanted to do was yard work and I was really excited because I was going to put mulch down because I've never done that. And I was real excited about it. And then I got there and I've got too overstimulated with the mulch. So I didn't do it. It's quite a, quite a tactile bag. one of the most tactile bags we have. I will listen, listen, I know you get it. You got overstimulated. Here's a little mulch tip. ⁓ when you put mulch down in the second year and the third year, remove the previous year's mulch because you people have mulch piles. a year after year and the sun can't penetrate to those roots anymore. And you're going to lose your whatever you're mulching. That's a tip from this old house. like that. I don't have anything growing there. Like this would solely be as like a layer of an aesthetic mulch. Just an aesthetic choice. Are you putting on concrete? No, it's on a yard. It's on the front part. So then the creator didn't waste his time. when he created and everything is growing. So you would be killing your grass. Right. But it also previously has been landscaped with rock and like other shit and they pulled all of the plants out. So it's there's no plant. I don't know how to. I understand. I don't want to waste our time with it. Yeah. I'm sorry because I understood you the whole time. I there was no grass to be killed. This is the most interesting part of what's happening so far. will say that there is beautiful ivy that has purple flowers that grows there. So I would be missing that. But oh, so all of a sudden now I'm indicating. Now Brent's got a point. I do like some ivy. Before the story comes out. could just mulch around it. Mulch around the ivy. You can mulch it. Just remove the previous year's mulch before you put some down. I have no mulch on it right now, though. But you're saying in the future next year. Carpe Blanche. You just throw down much more you want this year. But next year is where we have to have a discussion. Yeah, we got to bring this back up next year. Thank you. Remind me Mother's Day mulch. Yeah, walked out to my car. I saw a bunch of bird poop on it like a lot like it had diarrhea. And I said, look at this shit. And I didn't know like, yeah, it was one of the first times that you meant it. Look at this shit. And then your car horn was a little woogey sound. And then later that day I was sitting in my car and I was near Aldi and a man walked out with three half gallons of lactose free milk. And I was like, interesting. No gallons. That's that's four liters, right? Is it? So two liters, three, two liters. Of lactose free milk. I'm surprised he didn't get one four liter, you know, but maybe they don't sell the four liter lactose free. So. You guys have oh, you mean gallons? Yeah, they don't. We don't really do gallons of that here. I I would probably love Canada. Do you guys have like so much milk? Oh, we got all the milk you could ever imagine. So much percentages. Oh, my God. Let's talk about that later. Let's talk about that off air. Take you to a place you can get one and a half percent. No, you've one and a half percent. No, it's just a funny joke I've been making lately. That's good. ⁓ the only thing. Okay. So I've been watching the Hulk Hogan, ⁓ show. I finished it. The only thing I want to know is how Hulk Hogan painted his beard dark, but kept his was so dark. And then he had blonde. ⁓ yeah, that was pretty good. And he wanted, is that the Werner Herzog documentary? He's in it, which is. I was like, what is going on? in Criabla. So you want to be the guy? I mean, you don't you don't want Donald Trump to talk about you. But like they got Donald Trump on the documentary and Werner Herzog. Like, wow, what a piece of pop culture. Jesus, through the German pronunciation down on us. They're in there. in there. Wow. I also want to talk. I just want to state that I love Jimmy Hart, mouth of the South, that I think he's a treasure. And I did not, I knew of him growing up, but just from this documentary, he's just like speaking truths. The suits. I have a quick Jimmy Hart story. I'd love to I'd love to hear, take a small detour from what's happening to Jimmy Hart story town. Yeah. ⁓ there's a, I figured what wrestler it was. There's some, they were on the road anyway. And. they were sharing a hotel and they called from their hotel room to Jimmy Hart to see what time he wants to go down for dinner. And the phone rang a couple of times and Jimmy picked it up and said, hello. And then he said, hi. And then Jimmy's like, ⁓ just in the shower. Sorry about that. And the guy said, ⁓ you could have called me back. It's like in this business, you never miss a call, Love it. Yeah, that's it. Could be could be a big show. Could be an important wrestling show. Exactly. Could be, you know. Big wrestler. Why don't you give me a heart? Or it could be someone there to help him with his hair. Cause he has the best hair. He, yeah, he's pulling off his hair really well. Brutus, the barber, beefcake is not, and neither is the honky tonk man. No, it's not good looks. And the last thing I have is that I just want to mention that Hulk Hogan did run for president and Hulk Hogan, Terry, Terry said, that he stopped running for president because he really was going to win and he actually didn't want to be president. Yeah, he was worried. He was worried he might accidentally become the president. But I think he really believed that. Yeah, yeah, I believe that he believes as I would much rather have Hulk Hogan over Donald Trump as my president. Honestly, I would too, just because he's like he would be overwhelmed. And then he would just immediately defer to the people who know what they're doing because he would just be like, I am way in over my head. Also, he has like put all their let's say they have all the same beliefs. Hulk Hogan has been using his body his entire life. And so he's going to innately have a sense of actual humanity. So even if Hulk Hogan is the most narcissist guy in the world, he's going to have a different flavor that's going to be less harmful. I would argue. would be less harmful. If I had to choose between the two, I'm choosing Hulk Hogan. Especially because I already seen what Trump does and it's not it's bad. It's he's fucking everything up. So let's try something else. Right. Terry Buehler is a flawed character. Hulk Hogan is a hero. He is a hero. Sure. Absolutely. I mean, he did. We'll give him that. He almost slammed Andre the giant like we gave it to him on a technicality. I mean, he got it up. Who else was doing that? Had anyone done that? If I'm if I'm on the slam counter and I'm having a particular day at work, I don't know if I'm counting that slam, but we'll give it to him. We'll give him. I'm going to go on record as saying he slammed Andre the Giant. Yeah, I see what you're saying, though, Nate, because he did not get it high. I mean, that's an 800 pound. Listen, no one else has been even close. I'm not saying anybody else did it. I'm just saying they said Hulk Hogan did it. dense piece of meat he was trying Yeah, it was dead. And Andre didn't give him much. He didn't really work with him on it. I do believe Andre's reaction when he hit the mat was real. Yeah. He got up. He got some gravity. Is there a Canadian wrestler like, like we, America has Hulk Hogan. know what mean? Hart. Bret Hart would be our guy. Hart's Canadian. I would say yeah. Bester is the best or was Bester ever will be. He doesn't loom very large over our world like the way Hulk Hogan did. Yeah. Hogan just stayed part of pop culture for so long. I have to Google Bret Hart. Is he cute? No, he looks like ⁓ everyone who works at a tube fitting welding shop. Yeah. Nailed it. You can't get a better description than that. He needs a mustache. His upper lip is too long. And the hair is on lip. Tough, tough look. You got to cut your hair. It's the wet look. You know what my dad said the other day? He was like, you know what I read about in the Wall Street Journal? And I was like, no, he was like the wet look with hair. And I was like, OK, OK, pop. You should do as a bit. You should do that before you go in his house. Every time just take a water bottle, dump it over your head, shake it and go in the house. Doing the lip, Bob. He told me, he looked at my face yesterday and he said, do you know that you're so pretty? Wow. What a mother's day. that was a big day. Just racking up extra points. And so what I said in reply is I'm wearing makeup because I can accept compliments from other people, but not my father. Complex. And that's what's been happening. That's what happened. That's what happened. That's what happened. Let me bring up my list here. ⁓ while we're on the wrestling team, ⁓ I didn't watch it, but there's a character on WWE now called Dan, Dan housing, who is a cross of a vampire nightcrawler demon guy. wears face paint and he talks funny, but he's a comedy guy and he's very funny and his match involved. He's a wrestler. Yeah. And he was supposed to have a mystery partner at this pay-per-view and they, he came to the ring with a clone machine and he opened the clone machine and it was a little version of him. And so him and a little guy wrestled these other two guys. But the funny thing is one of the big guys, the opponents took the little guy halfway through the match and threw him back into the cloning machine. And then the machine starts smoking and then the door opened and big bunch of little guys came out, little clones came out. Wow. Yeah. You know what? Wrestling still got it. Wow. I would love to see that in person. Imagine being seen that live. were shitting on it and saying, this is silly. I'm like, the whole thing is designed to be. So the most excited I've been about wrestling in 10 years. I was hoping you were going to say a giant one was going to come out. That would have been really good. But multiple is the second best choice for sure. Dan Hasen's character is like he's like this vampire guy, but he's a comedy guy. He talks funny and he's a bumbling vampire kind of character. Does he do like Transylvania accent? No, not really. It's like he curses people. It'd be funny if he was like, I'm going to pin you and then the ref will count one. ⁓ He does this thing where he curses you so he'll go you are cursed and then something bad will happen. And then like that's his catchphrase and the whole crowd goes you are cursed. That's good dude. bad will happen. Like he was getting beat up the other day and he said you are cursed and he did fireworks went off in the ring and blinded his opponents. ⁓ my god. Okay I do actually I will be Googling this I will YouTube. And how is it? Or where's he wrestling? No, he started off as like an indie wrestler. Then he went to a W. Now he's in WWE. The big time. Wow. And well, that sounds awesome. You will love this guy. He he carries around a little jar of teeth that he gives to people as gifts. His wrestling tights have teeth on them and he drives like a 1940s Studebaker Munster car to the ring. God. To the ring, he drives it to the ring. Yes. And to tell you how this match ended, he he looked at his opponent and went, you are cursed. And he pointed his fingers at him. But the opponent held up a mirror directing the curse back. is awesome storytelling. This is. And that's what this is. Wrestling can't be that the whole time. I understand that. But you need that character like that. And if anybody's shitting on it, grow up and let. Do you think that Dan Howson? ⁓ it's his last name. That's why his his real last name is Dan Howson. But his is Donovan. Yeah, it's like so he'll like he was took a picture of a blimp the other day and he called it a blimp house and and smack down. How's it? I like it. It's yeah. I so moving on from that, I had an idea that when we do finally take initiative and make T-shirts. We should, the sizing should be small, should be puppy. Okay. Medium should be terrier. Okay. And large is big dog. I love it. this should also be our Patreon tiers when we, you know, like five, 10, 20. genius. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Cause nobody's going to want to be a puppy. They're going to want to put the money down for it to be of embarrassing if you got to admit you're just a pup. Yeah. I really, I do think we should do that. We should do the t-shirts. I think that's why I bring it up. I went to I was so social this week weekend. I was all over the place. I went to a party Saturday night ⁓ in a garage. It was my very first garage party. And like I knew it was going to be a great because there was a propane tank with a heater hooked up on it and that thing was kicking off heat. There was a multiple of deer racks. multiple fridges, flags, posters, beer signs, somebody's hanging out there. Somebody's hanging out there. Oh, yeah. Darpor. It's a great time. And it was Melissa's like she was the boss of three different units. So one of the big dog. Oh, Yeah. So she we were invited there and kind of like I walked around a little bit extra, you know, because the boss's husband's Yeah. Like they have to like you. They have to laugh at your jokes. Exactly. And I killed. ⁓ my God, I bet you did. I killed with my jokes. Can we go back? When I come to visit you, will you take me to the boss's party and be your sure Melissa's guest? I'll tell Melissa, make it your you have to tell your staff to throw a party. Yes, least as I least one. Because I got a three lead leash and I got three big dogs coming to it. ⁓ Yeah. So I had a little extra, but I did kind of embarrass myself. Never. Cause the crowd is as you expect with the garage party is they were more outdoorsy hunter type guys. There was a time where there was a, a, shoot like a cross, a bow was taken out. Cool. To look at. Better that than a gun. Yeah. There was a gun safe. sat in front of the gun. I sat, listen to where I sat. This was peak, like I'm taking control of the room. sat in front of the gun safe underneath the pulley hook that they use to hang the deer when they shoot it. That's some imagery, unconscious projection. Yeah, like one alpha line to the other alpha line. And I was right at that intersection. That's where I was. So to the embarrassing part is one of the guys said, Hey, you want to see something cool? Of course I do. And he's like, ⁓ so me and multiple guys went down to the basement. Yeah. Flop it out. guys went to the basement of we went, left the garage into the house and we went downstairs and he showed me a 17 point Buck Mount, like a deer head on the basement wall. And they're all talking and he told a story about how his son shot it and everyone was asking questions and there's me. I'm just standing there. I got to say something. The boss's fucking husband. What did you say, Brent? ⁓ I said, I said, well, I said multiple things, but this is the one that really got me. Like I knew all this fuck. I said the neck on it like, and he said, well, that's just like a standard deer. They just put the mount on a standard deer. I'm like, okay, he big dog me big time. Yeah, like he cucked me big time. Yeah, he exposed me as a not a deer knower. Yeah, you looked cool. Quite the fool. So they just took the antlers off and put it on a different deer. I'm learning this for the first time. I never knew just what they did. And I don't like it. Even I don't know. That was the thing. Yeah, that's not a thing for people that have any kind of self-respect. I don't understand because it's like what? They got antlerless deers sitting at the taxidermist and then they take the deers off. They take the antlers off of the deer and stick it on the antlerless deer. Like what the fuck are we talking about here? I don't like that he made you feel that way, Brent. And Nate and I are defending you because we don't, we don't, there's something sus about that. Well, the man is an angel among men. He's the nicest person I know from the hospital. I've known him for 20 years. Whatever. just filming me. He was just filling me in, the point came across pretty quickly that I was, I was a fucking noob. So the big thing I had to do was I tried to get back. I tried to like to get back on top with, cause I was killing it before that. And you know, I was the boss's husband and I said, this, this story kept on going. And so I replied with, Oh, I didn't know they made him that big. And that got a little laugh. That's what she said. I said, um, do they, come that big around here. And they said, oh yeah, oh yeah. And so I felt like I was back. That was my next question. Because I was going to say like, was that a deer that was killed on the island? The deer was shot off on a different island. I don't know where this standard deer came from, but I had many questions about the standard deer. Like, why did they put a rack on this deer? And I just, it was a big deer neck. So I just had the neck on it and it's fine. Yeah. But I rallied on from that. Couple of years you'll get over it. And the last thing I want to talk about is the Bible. Ripping through the New Testament. Where are you? Paul is, I'm on the Corinthians, 2 Corinthians. and Paul's just spouting off at the mouth about all these things. And he's kind of rambling at this point. We're like, we know, but don't commit adultery. Don't do those sexual impurity things. We understand. But he just keeps on saying it. And I get that he's like traveling with people, but he seems like a nervous talker. And that's what the Corinthians is. He's trying to convince people, right? He's trying to convince me, but he's also makes a subtle threat in there where I was like, if you do this, remember how Jesus killed or God killed 23,000 people with snakes? ⁓ Remember the snakes? Threatening. Yeah. So that's where we're at now. We're at like, he just seems like he's overbearing and I can't wait to get off. this boat with them. That's my new Bible update. And so have you is it more of you, Mark, Luke and John that have his whole life right? Like from his birth into the biography. OK, yeah, it's just four different versions of that. And then everything else is kind of like the mythology. Everything else is like Romans and the Christians is like. Peter or Paul telling everybody Like this is what God, or this is what Jesus did, this is what God did, and y'all better listen. And if not, then you're all fucked. You know what? I never thought of this before, but I'm kind of like, how does the Bible end? Like when they were like, and that's the end of it. Revelation. That's what happened. Yeah. That's what happened in the Bible. I don't know. I think they were waiting. I think they were anticipating Jesus's return, like the. Trying to get it published to capitalize on the synergy. like they figured that the reckoning would be happening a lot quicker than it actually never really happened. Yeah, so it's just just it's going to happen soon, guys. It's always happening. Any day now. If I was the Game of Thrones guy, the author would be like, well, fuck. mean, you know, Peter, Paul, Joseph, they then Windsor. Fuck me. Next one coming out. Good point. That's all that book. That's what George R.R. Martin should say. He should say y'all love that book and no one's clamoring for a sequel. Give me some. Give me a break. Boom. Boom. Boom. And that's what happened. That's what happened. Weekly report, Nate. Would you guys like to hear the weekly report? Absolutely. Weekly, weekly, weekly, weekly, weekly, weekly report. Weekly report. I've been like the busiest guy. little beaver. ⁓ Just the busiest little beaver. I would consider this the first. Full summer weekend, had such a summer weekend, I mowed the lawn, I planted my plants, I fixed the roof, I cleaned out the garage. Amazing. I wore shorts in the sun. Showed off those gams. Oh, and I was just the happiest guy, like all day long, I was like, oh, I'm so lucky, I'm so happy, every little thing was pleasing me to no end. Love it. ⁓ Triple D's still keep still sticking to the triple D's drinking my dairy, dancing and lifting the weights. Great week. Great week of exercise. I started lifting the weights this week because our last week because of because I the weights. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It really it changes the dynamic a little bit. It does. I better get back on the weights. I those weights. Have you? Been inspired and we're not ever getting. I'm glad to hear you're dancing. Do you feel like you're just in your groove with it? Are you? I was thinking about this the other day. I haven't been inventing nearly as many moves as I used to because I'm still dancing every day, but I'm working out so hard that it is like almost exclusively hostage dancing where I'm like someone's holding a gun to me and they're like, you have to dance or we'll you. And I'm like, you're any you're not enjoying it. No, I'm enjoying it. would say I'm enjoying it, I'm just physically like tired. I'm so I'm so tired. He's playing the classics. He's sticking to what he knows because he's tired. Yeah, I'm doing a lot of like on leg day. I'm doing like a lot of arm stuff and on arm day I'm doing like a lot of dipping leg stuff like that. I sort of switch to whatever is not that sore. I think you have figured it out. I think so, too, because I'm not. I'm working out so hard, like six days a week, I work out for like an hour at least every single day, sometimes quite a bit more. And I'm like, not that sore. Do know what mean? Because of the dance. I dance it out. I dance all of the milk. Yeah. And that milk. I also I have a new name instead of calling it drinkable protein, super protein yogurt, which was a great name that I came out with. I've actually I've started calling it monster milk or mutant milk. Because it's making me as strong as a mute and so every time I'm like gotta make up a whip up a batch of mutant milk Call it that for their children. Yeah, everybody call it mutant milk The name the official name of it is North American Friends movie club mutant milk I made the ⁓ best Omelette I've ever made in my life by far Okay taste perfect Aesthetics perfect. I said I finally did it. I finally feelings sorted this out The next day I literally made the worst omelet I've ever made in my entire life. We're back to square one We're back. We're right back to square run. I don't know what to do I watched a video from Jack Papa and I still don't know what to do But I'm going to stick to it. I'm going to stick to it. Pappé, does he does the French style, where there's no color on the eggs at all. That's That's right, Brad. That's right. I saw the same video, Oh, I forgot to say all my yard work instead of calling it yard work. I've been calling it growing and mowing. Do my growing. Do my mowing. So I just wanted to add that in. And then my last thing is baseball starts tonight. And I couldn't be more excited. I'm going to get two home runs tonight. I just feel it in my heart with all my muscles and skills. Dingers? Oh, my God. fast compared to everybody else. God, can you imagine? No. It's like I was wearing a 40 pound backpack last time I played. I want you to wear a GoPro and just play a whole game. I'll consider. Do you have one? I don't. I actually my dad does. I could borrow it from my dad. live stream it. I'm speaking of. Patriot here. Speaking of wearing a GoPro, why do do activities? Very good, Brad. Thank you. We watched my pick for Nature Documentary Month and I picked the 2020 documentary, my octopus teacher and my human teacher, Kate. Will you please tell me what this movie is about? I would love to. There is a gentleman who was a filmographer and videoed a lot of nature in the deserts and the jungles in Africa. And he got really burned out. And so he went back to his home on the coast and started swimming in the ocean, which is very cold. And so it was like he was doing cold plunges. And then that turned into a him like looking at all of the wildlife and then he saw this weird shape. It was this thing covered in shells and he had never seen it before and he was like, that's interesting. So it because then it turned out to be an octopus. And so he started seeing the octopus every day and then started filming it and learned about the life. of the underwater kelp forest and this octopus. And through that, he healed his burnout. in because he said that he wasn't the kind of father that he wanted to be. And that's why he had to quit. He needed to move back home. And he was like struggling with depression. He doesn't say that, but it seems that way. And then as. He talks to his son about the octopus. The son gets more interested in diving and then ⁓ the end of it. ⁓ It's very there's very dramatic parts where the octopus gets attacked by a shark and he's very worried about the octopus dying. And at the end, we finally see it's great. It's bookended beautifully because the last thing the octopus does is it. wraps the shells around it because it's being attacked by a shark and then it ends up being killed by that shark. So he understands like, ⁓ the shells or whatever. ⁓ Just like a beautiful, beautiful film. That's my octopus teacher. Well done, Catherine. Well done. Excellent job. You nailed all of now. Well, no, I mean, you hit every part. You hit every part in the story. Let's let's talk about our favorite parts. I'd love to. ⁓ this was my pick and I'm sorry. I don't know. I think this guy. First of all, is a fraud. I think he made it all up. I think it's fake. I don't think he went the back every day. I think he just got a lot. I think he went diving. He got a lot of fucking footage. One, maybe two days of just filming and just broke it down into this. That's incredible story. I've seen better acting in wrestling, to be honest with you, when he forced those fucking tears out. First of all, I don't talk about my dead grandparents and go, ⁓ anymore. And they were like people. This guy, 10 years later, 15 years later, shedding tears and making noises, talking about dead octopus. Come on. 15 years. That was like after the pandemic. It started in 2010, he said. You try to tell me this. Listen, listen. Now, this doesn't make sense. The timelines don't match up. 2010, he started filming it and all of a sudden in 2020 fucking three or 2020 is like, oh, I think we're gonna release the footage now. No, he was married. When they was filming and then all of sudden he's not married anymore and now he's married to a girl that's in the business. Something's not right. Interesting. You think he's an industry plant? I'm blowing the top. This is in 2018. He began free diving in cold underwater kelp forest. I got I don't know where you're getting your sources, but my source is 2010. Anybody can anybody can do that. Anybody can doctor those numbers. I didn't get the vibe that it wasn't real. I just what I thought was interesting was like the the contention of the movie was like, seemed to be like, ⁓ this octopus has taught me all these lessons. I'm like, not really, but I love to watch the octopus. You could have just called it my octopus. And I'd be like, I'm fine. It didn't really teach you how to be a good dad, but they're like, we gotta put this in a package. So it's like the octopus taught me how to be a good human. It's like, okay, sure, ⁓ sure, fine. I went in expecting this octopus to be doing the coolest shit ever. It was. It was. When it was hunting, it's how it like changed its There was a part in the movie where the octopus comes out of the ocean onto the land to avoid getting eaten by a shark. I didn't know that they did that. didn't think he had to do that. called survival instinct. How many times have you seen people jump off the land and into the water to escape their attackers? Yeah, there's only two kinds of creatures that know to do it. It's us and octopuses. And seals, probably. Seals, lions, manatees, polar bears, meliscoes. Mammals, all mammals. And yet, I know a shark can never do that. This whole nature documentary month has put the spotlight on animals and exposed them. way too much shit about animals. We're believing everything that we're spoon fed and I'm tired of it and I'm tired of it. I'm going to speak up about it. This guy, first of all, one, he's South African. Two. You don't trust people with glasses with no frames. What are you doing? Oh, yes. Glasses had no frames. It's like people that have no cases on their phone. think it's for people that really don't want to wear glasses. Yeah. And they want you to like not see that they're wearing glasses. Exactly. Like we don't know. Put some contacts in then. You guys didn't find it weird when he cried about a fucking octopus whose life is. No, because I think he shows he's so shut off. that the only way for him to reignite his feelings for anything were through this animal. And that's really common for people. They can relate to animals more than they can relate to people because animals have never hurt them. But people have hurt them. I believe that. That's why there's so many like cat people and dog people. Yeah. And they're also usually mean to humans. The people that are like Bingo crazy nice to animals are kind of usually mean to you. Yeah. They're very judgmental of humans frequently. Yes. Listen. This I who and who's to say it could have been it's the same octopus. You don't fucking know. It could have been multiple octopuses. They worked in a few different octopuses into the shots and they're like, it's the same lady. It's the same. I'm sure. would hope not. I would hope they didn't do that. I'm like, that doesn't bother me at all. I guess I the whole thing about watching this to me is I just like any nature documentary is interesting. like the rapper that this one is in didn't Like affect me at all because the whole time I'm just like what he puts shells on himself to look like a to make like some shell armor when a shark is trying to eat him and then he rides on the back of a shark like a shark while he's wearing his shark his shell armor like okay, okay octopus Let me push back on that Is that an indicator that the octopus is really smirks or that the shark is super fucking dumb both? I mean the shark is like super dumb what? away. Can you imagine that's as if you're a small woman and you're being checked by a big guy, you just need to climb on their back and not and just ride them like a ruck in. Bunko walk them around town. Yeah. I don't we should be doing that. I don't think we should be doing that movement. What you trying to do? It's all basically that octopus did was this. Yeah, yeah. He just took us around and that's now. And he's using the shells to protect him from the teeth of the shark and it worked. I did get that confused. So they did it. That's not the time the octopus died. It survived that shark attack. Yeah. And then the other one was when it could get into the... No, it's because it had babies and after it has babies, it gets like super sick and so then it just floats out. Yeah, that's when the water started from the other fellow. Yes. So the octopus dies after it gives birth. Yeah. Yeah. If listen, if you're not over love it, I like that. The death of. Listen, if you're not over the death of an octopus after a fucking. 45 minutes to an hour. Something wrong, think something wrong. don't think he was really missing the octopus. I think he was missing the period in his life where he wasn't feeling depressed every day and he was weeping for that brief moment of time when he felt that he had a purpose. And look how good he looked. Swimmer's body, those broad shoulders and back. Helps. Barrel chest. There one shot of him walking up the surf and I was like, OK, daddy. like, hi, papa. until he opened his mouth. Until he opened his mouth, that stupid South African accent. I missed you so much. You like South African accents? Sure. His fins were like three feet long. Big boys. Yeah. Big boys. And how long do you think he ended up holding his breath for? Six minutes. Whoa. That's a lot. looked it up. Holy shit. That's a lot of time to get fucking. I caught myself holding my breath during this movie and I was like, I couldn't be doing this. I mean, that's obviously a skill you build it up, but. I would not have been able to like if I had made an octopus friend, I would not have been able to be like, oh, I'm a scientist watching this. Like if a shark. tried to hurt my octopus friend, I would beat the fuck out of a shark. I punch and kick a shark just into the bottom of the ocean. I think he benefited from having ⁓ filmed other species. You know what I mean? Because he did try to feed her. Yeah. Which I thought was sweet. think I think he. ⁓ when she was hurt. Yeah. After she got her arm bit off. He the clams for her. He opened the clams and left her house. I it was sweet. Yeah, no, it's weird. He felt bad. Listen, if I'm if I'm the octopus and I see this fucking goofy guy diving by my house every day and all of sudden, OK, I'm going to trust him and I'm going to be friends with them and I'm latching on to and let him touch me and all that. And then a shark comes and you don't do anything. I know. I was I was like, she's smart enough to know that you didn't have her back. Like what kind of friend? I was She's only a three year old, not a four year old in intelligence. I'm squirting ink and I'm peacing out of there. I'm gone. Fuck you, buddy. Take your documentary. Shut up. You're a fucking hole. Yeah, we're done here. Save me from the shark. Don't you love that they can regrow their limbs? Like, I wish we could do that. Be really helpful. Wouldn't that be fun if like you lost your arm and then you had a little baby arm and then it grew into Japanese. Japanese developed something to regrow teeth. I saw that. And then I read that it makes All of your adult teeth fall out and grow baby teeth again, and then they fall out and then you grow adult teeth. What? Yeah. Listen. So you use your teeth twice. Yeah. Yeah. But then you regrow ones that have fallen out or rotted or been busted up. So your body is are using. How did they do that? Japan, baby. That's crazy. I'm to look that up later. That's probably the most interesting thing I've heard recently. It's fascinating. Thank you. Thank you. I hope it's real. We live in a time where they like a lot of news gets like something exciting sort of will happen and everyone like extrapolates too much and then it never comes to fruition. So I hope this is one of those things where they're like, no, we really did it. Someone actually did it. They got their baby teeth. They grew out. They got their adult teeth. It works like that. Wow. Wow. The lobster thing was cool. And ⁓ I picture that his first marriage fell apart because he'd come home after a long day of spending time with the octopus after like 200 or some days. And then they get him and his wife get into an argument and she yells, I'm sorry, I'm not her. We got it. The lobster. didn't know lobsters swam like that with their tail. Yeah. Like it looks like they're swimming. Backwards backwards their eyes on there like they're watching. Is that accurate? Like they're backing up the whole time. Yeah, classic lobster behavior. Really? I didn't know that. CBL or no CLB. Classic lobster behavior. So many acronyms. ⁓ yeah. ⁓ yeah. I had a funny idea or a fun idea and a very thought provoking idea. We all fell in love watching this movie with the octopus. And we cheered the octopus on, correct? I did. Yes. I cheered the octopus on a hundred percent. was on her side. And during the shark attack, was like rolling. The shark was rolling and ripping off arms and like, we're like, ⁓ fuck off you cocksucker. And come on, fight back octopus. And sorry, Susan. ⁓ and then what if, what if there was another documentary being made that was following the shark? And we fell in love with the shark. I thought about that too. Because then it basically I'm on the side of whose ever story it is. So it's like if we were watching the shark movie, we'd be like, look at this incredible hunter hunting that octopus. The octopus is to be like, octopus are so hard to hunt and do it. Yeah. But sharks are the toughest one out of every animal to get me on their side. I saw one movie that they got me on their side, but it's a tough that's a tough jaws. Alpha predators. That's a joke is good because there's nothing to love. There's nothing to love about a shark. You never like even I'm kind of don't I think orcas are kind of evil, but there's still something to love about them. Sharks are the Donald Trump of the sea sharks of Donald Trump. I would have said clownfish. They're the sea's Hitlers. That's what I would see. Nazis sharks or sea Nazis. No, see, let's. That's it. We it. We figured it out. We figured it out. You guys want to do a quiz? Let's do a quiz. This is the My Brent Teacher. ⁓ I had no effort into that at all. Sorry. Made me laugh though, so. I know. Yeah. That's why we're here, guys. That's why we're here. That's why we're here. I thought of a good joke. Anyway, I forget what it was. So this guy kind of pussed out in the ocean, couldn't handle it, so he went into a little reef area. What ocean did this take place in? Good question. Good question. Was it the Arctic, the Indian, the Pacific, or the Atlantic? Who goes first? Nate goes first. I'm going to Atlantic Ocean. As am I. Atlantic Ocean. Final answer. Both terrible acting jobs. You guys both knew it was Atlantic Ocean and you're both right. more that was more directed towards Nate Case. I'm sorry. say I was hoping I was a little worried that it was going to be Indian Ocean. because I don't know where the Indian Ocean is. My guess is close India. side of the... Speaking of, that's a good point by Nate and Kate there, the meeting of the oceans. So the Atlantic does run into the Indian here in this situation. That's what kind of... We have a cape. It's called... Where do these meet? Cape Agulhas? Cape Augustine? Cape Australia? Or Cape Agunda? So what is the Cape where the Indian and the Atlantic Oceans meet? And repeat those again. I just made them up so I'll go ⁓ Cape Agulhas, Cape Augustine, Cape Australia and Cape Agunda. Why are you making up the answers right now? Because I use. That's the only question I had to make up the answer because I forgot to put the other three in. OK, that ain't pretty impressive. Agunda. I don't know. Augustus. You're both wrong. was Cape Agulhas. God forever. God, whatever. It's a terrible question. It's where two oceans meet. It's Why is that funny? ⁓ Because Augustine Australia and Agunda, I just made them up. It's just funny. Worst question there's ever been on this podcast. You were so upset. You're so upset. ⁓ One thing I noticed while watching this film is the absurd amount of sea urchins that are in this reef that he's in. Like there's little spiky boys everywhere. ⁓ Inside the sea urchin is the edible part that people go love for some reason and it's called uni. What part of the sea urchin is uni? Is it the reproductive organs, the digestive system? The central nervous system or the lymphatic system? Nate. I'm gonna get lymphatic with it. Lymphs. I am too, because that would feel soft to me. And that's what it looks like. When you're eating uni, you're on the dick of vagina. It's the reproductive organs. No. Gone forever. ⁓ because it's probably like the eggs and the testes. Urchin wieners. Yeah. Yum yum. You're loving it and you're loving it. What type of octopus was this? What was the subject of this film? Was it a coral octopus, a common octopus, a mimic octopus or African octopus? Common. Yeah, I remember them saying it was common because it didn't feel common to me. It was it was the probably the least exciting type of octopus common. Yeah. I said, if that's the common one, what other kinds they got out there? Yeah, buddy, like. Yeah, could you imagine what this that the numbies show would have had if you filmed any other type of these? Yeah, you get good numbies. Good numbies. Yeah. Good. No, he's on the streaming report. Oh, so just remember to like and follow and subscribe because North America Friends movie club needs the numbies. It's true, true, though. right. Closest to. How many different species of octopi are there? 12 octopi. ⁓ Twenty five. Three hundred. You guys are both very wrong, but unfortunately, unfortunately for Kate, I was going to say 50 and I was like, good. All ⁓ right. Well, 12 is good. Well, didn't you know, I don't know if it's like the reason I hesitated is like I was realizing like I don't know enough about animal categorization to know if there's no 12 umbrella ⁓ octopuses that then there's like the horned black octopus, you know, and that counts as a subset. didn't know. So I just said 12. Yeah, I would. Yeah, that blew me away. 300. That's a lot. Can we get an update on the score and how many questions we have left? you've not been saying numbers. are currently in the lead with three and me and Brent both have two. Okay. And how many questions? Two left. This is another closest to. ⁓ As smart as they are, they are apparently delicious and we'd be eating them and we'd be fishing them. How many metric tons of octopus are fished every year? Every year metric tons. I would say a hundred thousand. A hundred thousand metric tons. Damn. I don't it's this is bumming me out. I'm going to say. 200,000. Kate, congratulations. You nailed it. Well, you didn't really nail it. It's between 20,000 and a hundred thousand. So I needed you guys. I wanted you guys to go under 20 and over 100. So good job, Kate. You nailed it. How many hearts does an octopus have? One, two, three or four. I know Kate's already won it, so it doesn't matter. I know they the interesting thing that I learned is that they got brains in their arms. That was quite interesting. I didn't know about that. I feel like the whole thing is a nervous system. Yeah. So how many hearts? I'm going to just guess two hearts. It's got two. I would just say one. That they have three hearts. Oh, God forever. Well, they stole three in this movie. Ours guys, right? They did. Oh, my God. They have sex. They have sex. I don't like that he didn't name her. He should have. I didn't like that either. I totally agree. Kate completely agree. Guys are freaky. Didn't name her. I didn't know. What have you named her? What would I have? I would have called her Rosie. Rosie. would have gone with something like Bluebell or something like that. Like, yeah, that's just what first came to mind when you asked the question. So that's what I would go with. Bluebell. What are you, Kate? I would name her Kiki Kiki with the kelp. Kiki in the kelp forest. Kiki, Bluebell and Rosie. Well, beautiful. Do you know what I would name her? It goes like this. A A T E. Exclamation point. Exclamation point. Underline. Underline. Underline. Thanks guys. What a win. Feels good. Big dub. does. Feels good. I give you a gold medal for your quiz, Brent. Would you like to give this movie some medals? We'll give it at least a bronze. I'm giving all of them. I'm gonna get all of them out. ⁓ okay. Bronze medal. I'm going to the options are limited. I'm going to the guy that I had of default. He gets bronze medal. Didn't name the octopus, which is weird. Fried 10 years later, which is super weird. Didn't help out in this time of need. Bad friend. Bad friend. Bad friend. Bronze. Yeah, he gets a bronze for being a bad friend. Number one rule of being friends with someone. If your friend is in a fight, you're in a fight. You could do a lot of other not good friend stuff, but if you do that, we're friends. So bronze medal for not having blue bells back. Rosie. I don't feel that. I don't know. I'm giving it to his son, whoever that is. And. ⁓ Tom, his name was Tom. Yeah. And I think that's a cool way to grow up, Tom. I thought he's probably going to be quite an interesting kid. is like just having that experience when you're young and like, especially he seemed to be like kind of getting the experimental spirit, you know, like he's going to observe. like, that's a good thing to learn when you're young. I know from growing up and from being a father that if my dad misses important formative years and events because he's swimming with an octopus. Great dad. Yeah, you're right. Listen, he had to work it out. It's better than sitting in the dark room crying, right? Come on. I'd rather be out of the house. Honestly, I want to get on the internet. So go ahead. Go swimming, Dad. I'll see you in fucking eight hours. Click, click, click, Enjoy your fucking friend. Hope a shark doesn't get it. Silver medal. Go into Rosie the octopus. ⁓ Three hearts. All brains changing colors at the drop of a dime. Out waiting sharks putting making up seashell armor. uh, reluctantly given into this guy that keeps following her around, uh, gets knocked up at the end of it, spouts out a thousand or a couple hundred thousand babies. And that was wild. I thought they said like something like half a million or 250. There's a crazy number. And then the boy has the little baby one at the end, little baby octopus. So sweet. See, yeah, never listen. That was the most blatant CGI. I want and ⁓ I'll give my I'm going to it's an ensemble metal to all of the starfish because I thought they were really funny. They're so useless. The most useless fish in the entire sea. And just the fact that when the octopus would get some food and then go to her house, they would all just like. roll, flop, roll, and then just like hang on top of her. And she just said she's like, he's like, eventually she evolved to figure out a method to prevent them. And it was just her gently peeling them off of herself. Throwing away. They're the worst silver medal for the starfish. True scavengers. So annoying. Hot, sad dad gets my silver. Hot, sad dad gets silver. Hot, sad dad. I'm so I'm so excited to see who you get your goal. Give your goal to my gold medals, go into the be all and all the biggest mystery in the world, which is the ocean. ⁓ If it wasn't for the ocean, we wouldn't have a story with my octopus. So many undiscovered things. The ocean, we only know five percent. You want to freak yourself out? Go to Neil dot fun. It's an interactive sea map of the deep sea by Neil Argo while I will go on this thing. Go to it now. Neil.fun. N-E-I-L? N-E-A-L. .fun? And you just, yeah. You just scroll down this thing and it tells you the depth of where things are. The deep sea. ⁓ okay. It's the deep, it's slash the deep sea brand. That's where you didn't. No, sorry. I like, I really like how polar bear is in there. Cause yeah, sometimes he is in the ocean. Yep. OK, it's too. There's this the scrolling bar is too small. And I understand what you're saying, Brent. Like, holy shit. Yeah. Like the Twilight Zone. That's where that's 220 meters deep. That's where haddock live. There's a wolf heel. I mean, this thing freaks the hell out of you if you just keep scrolling. It's so deep. It's way too deep. Cuskills at 8300 meters deep. So we're not we're never going to know the secret of the ocean. That's a gold medal. What's the deepest anyone's ever gotten? I don't know, John Mayer. The Challenger Deep, the deepest point in the ocean. It's like a spacecraft. They basically made a spacecraft to go. And I think I would rather go to space than that deep in the ocean. Like if I had to pick between the two, I'm going to say 100%. I don't want to see what hasn't been discovered yet. No, I don't want to get swallowed. Seems like there's something down there that can just one bite you. Imagine a big giant squid with his eyeball pressed up against the porthole looking at you. ⁓ Jacques and Don, they succeeded in becoming the first humans to reach the deepest point in the ocean. I shouldn't have told Kate this. The Challenger Deep, 10,000, basically 11,000 meters. That's crazy. No, I'm giving my gold medal to Bluebell. I'm giving my gold medal to Bluebell. She was. Like I said, would I would have the shark. I wouldn't even have waited for the shark to get close. I'm like, I would have put myself between Bluebell and the shark. I would have punched a shark in the nose. I would put a shark in a sleeper hold. I would have thrown him in an old Moplata if he gets real freaky with me. There's to be so much footage of a shark and a headlock. Yeah. Yeah, I'd get arrested probably. ⁓ But that's what you do for your friends. Go go. Mine is also going to Kiki. She was so beautiful and I so appreciate her letting us film her in her life. it was said that they only live a year and a half, not even a year and a half. But Kiki did great. And I hope that Kiki's descendants are still out there. Did you, speaking of what you just said, Kate, I'm a good gold medal pick for you too. But speaking of what you just said, did you hear what he said about Octopus. Live hard, young. Yeah. Did he say that? Come on, doc. Come on, man. Listen, he's trying to make a movie here. gotta listen. Sometimes you gotta don't sell the steak, you sell the sizzle, Live hard, die young. I give us all tens for our medals. Would you guys like to give this movie a rating? Absolutely. script for this movie, the story. It's kind of boring. I wish she could have tightened it up. Yeah, there's something to what Brent is being said, but I'm not going to validate Brent specifically, but I'm giving it a seven. What you described is we call this the incubation period. This is where I've infected you with an idea. ⁓ We let that we let that idea grow. and fester for a couple of days. Yeah. And then by Wednesday, down to next week, I'll be sold full blown. You're like, that guy's a freak. Yeah. There's teeth marks on your arm and you pull your sleeve down because you're fine. You're fine. What do you give it, Brad? ⁓ Octopus teacher. think he I think he advertised way too hard that this thing was going to do incredible stuff. Really didn't impress me like monkeys. ⁓ I give it a nice. ⁓ I'm with it. I'm going to give it. I'm going to give it a seven because I agree that it felt like the rap, the narrative that they tried to attach to this was like didn't feel super duper genuine. And it didn't like I would have just been perfectly fine with like I was depressed. And then I found this thing that was fascinating. And here's 55 minutes of watching this thing live. And isn't it? Cool like that would have been fine by me that would have been a great movie. Yeah, he tried to turn into the notebook both him and the fucking octopus and it did the opposite the reason I gave it an eight because Instead of me going in and learning like how incredible Octopus are I came out going. Okay, they're not as fucking impressive as I thought Negative yeah the art direction for this movie last time we were talking about One of the greatest sets ever built which is the jungle One of God said there is another pretty crazy set. It's kind of gothic horror. It's kind of Guillermo del Toro and that's the ocean. And I got to say, guys, it gets a 10 for me to the ocean is quite the place with quite the different forest. I mean, Yeah, it's back to back movies with our favorite set designer is the creator. And he knocked it out of the park on this one. Beautiful blue waters, green, green kelp. So many. different types of fish, lots of coral, beautiful masculine bodies diving through the barrel chests, diver bodies. The music for this movie, was perfectly normal nature documentary music. It could have gone a lot harder. Like I could have used like one time I'd be like, you can throw the synth on it. You can throw some underwater like boo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo Seven and a half. It was fine. That's what I'm going to give it. I'm going to get a seven and a half to big with you're putting a big movie like this together where you expect a lot of people to believe it. So you have to get a big song and it would have tied everything together. They got the rights to my best friend. My queen. Yes. You're my best friend. That would have got me the 10, but it's only going to get a seven. Sorry. With with old man. Take a look at my life. I'm a lot like you. You see now you're saying, yeah, now you're seeing how I see things. I like it. My favorite part of the episode. This is a Netflix original documentary. That's what they're calling it Netflix original documentary. So we will rate it as such. And Netflix has actually made some pretty banging documentaries. They're not doing it all the time. They're not like Ken Burns. OK, they're not fucking. Yeah, it is. They're not Werner Herzog. They're not Werner Herzog. OK, but they're not Errol Morris. We could we could keep doing this. OK, but this was pretty good. It was compared to the other ones. I'm going to go again. Seven and a half. It's like fine. It's a good movie. And the octopus part is so cool. And I would recommend watching it just because octopuses are so cool. But you could shave 20 minutes of this thing. Mm Yeah, I'm going to give it an eight because there's lots of. other documentaries on Netflix that they've made that I would prefer to watch. Yeah, everyone talked about this movie like it was the Titanic, this amazing thing, and I was going into it with high expectations. Maybe that's my fault. But if you're a fantasy and sad South Africans and octopus getting by sharks, then this is your movie, but not mine. Seven. OK. The theme this month is nature documentaries compared to other nature documentaries. How did you two feel about it? didn't really learn that much. Well, I did learn that they're not that smart. Eight. I liked it, but I'd probably won't watch it again. I'll give it an eight. Yeah. Like what is it? Is it a movie about octopus or is it a movie about you? Like, yeah, I think you both put it right in that I don't think I would watch it again. I think I got everything I was going to get out of it. And like compared to Jane, which was like I found The Jane movie quite a bit more interesting, better, well, like much better put together, much more beautiful. So, yeah, I'll go seven and a half even. I'm going to go even a little bit lower. I haven't pushed anything yet. I haven't pushed the magic button. What do you guys think this movie is going to get? I got a joke to pull off first. OK, it's movie is a classic line like guys would rather swim with an octopus for a year than go to therapy. That's exactly right. Yeah. I'm glad you got that one off. Thank you. This movie's going to get a 39.7. I think it's going to get a 37. I'm going to guess a 40. Let's find out. He nailed it, didn't he? It's exactly 40. Your response was wonderful. He pushed back from his desk as if he'd seen a spider and covered his face because it's always so embarrassing. Like you just have to trust me. So like getting it is like, OK, I feel awkward here. Just be like, I did it. I went in. OK, next part of the show. That's awesome. It's time for me to pick a movie. It is. Are you are one hundred and fifty second. Are one hundred and fifty second movie. I got it. down to two things that I wanted to watch. One of them is a documentary called, I'm so scared to try to pronounce this word, The Anthropocene, which is the human epoch, which is we're about to go through another extinction phase that's caused entirely by us. And it's just a documentary about like how much we've scarred the world with our industrial terrible behavior. So that was one choice. But the movie I'm going to choose this week is called Red Panda, the world's cutest animal. We will be watching Red Panda, the world's cutest animal instead. So that's why this is. Yeah. This is a good palate cleanser. This is the sip of grapefruit juice between meals. The world's cutest animal. Yeah, that's what this film is called. That is amazing. So that's what we'll be watching next week. And I can't wait to see the little furry guy. He's all that's left to do say good night, Good night, Kate. Good night, Kate.
