- 0:14Hello and welcome to Arguing Ever After.
- 0:17I am Luke and this is the most amazingly costume decorated wife
- 0:22of mine, Amber. Hello.
- 0:24Together we are the Lord and Lady who lock horns.
- 0:28The counting Countess of contention.
- 0:30The Duke and Duchess of Disagreement.
- 0:32And the king and queen of quarrels.
- 0:34We have been together since a little before the blockbuster
- 0:37hit came out featuring the day walking Vampire Blade.
- 0:40In this entertainment only podcast, we will bicker about
- 0:43all things big and small and the audience gets the say on who the
- 0:46winner is. We are not relationship experts,
- 0:49but we are pro level arguers. We will debate lots of things on
- 0:53this podcast, many of which are submitted by you, our listeners.
- 0:57If you have an idea you want us to talk about, send it to us at
- 1:00arguingeverafter@gmail.com. Perhaps this completely
- 1:04unscientific method of letting the masses decide who is right
- 1:07can help solve your argument before you even have it.
- 1:12And so here we are at lucky number Sweet 16.
- 1:17Sweet 16 not lucky? I don't know.
- 1:19It's not lucky for me. Well, I don't know if it was
- 1:22lucky for me when I turned 16. Yeah.
- 1:24Did you have a Sweet 16 party? No.
- 1:27OK. Is that a thing still?
- 1:29I don't know. Well, we get to find out in a
- 1:32few years, don't we? We.
- 1:33Will we? Will.
- 1:35For you audio listeners, I just want to tell you briefly what
- 1:37you're missing out on cuz first of all, it's still spooky
- 1:40season. Still spooky season, and we're
- 1:42deep into it. We're on the 4th 1/4.
- 1:46And final. Sadly, the 4th and final, I
- 1:49mean, we'll still talk about stuff in the woo woo category as
- 1:52Amber calls it, but we've been like putting on different types
- 1:56of clothing that's, you know, related to spooky season.
- 2:01And today we're fully in our Halloween costumes, which is the
- 2:06Lord and lady who lock horns. We have horns on.
- 2:09Yes, she's got like this fly Lourdes Duchess Countess looking
- 2:16dress with a like a big wig with a tall hair.
- 2:21Lourdes. Is that a term?
- 2:22I just made it up, OK. I didn't think so.
- 2:25The she Lord. I guess yes, yes.
- 2:28And you've come very decked out as well.
- 2:30I think this is the most glamorous I've ever.
- 2:34Seen you. I'm like level 10 glam right
- 2:36now. I have a what is this called?
- 2:39A puff? No.
- 2:41Is it a neck robot? No, it's a neck.
- 2:44What's it called in that ghost show?
- 2:46I don't know. Poof.
- 2:48What does he call it? I don't know.
- 2:50Anyway, it's this little neck thing and it's like a poofy,
- 2:53poofy white thing. And then I got little little
- 2:56sleeve poofs too. Yeah, it's pretty great.
- 2:59And there's a lot of. Gold lace.
- 3:01A lot of gold. And gold buttons.
- 3:03And maroon colored pants and the vest and I'm just, I'm feeling
- 3:07very fancy. Oh, and I also have hair, which
- 3:09is great because I don't actually have hair.
- 3:13So although it makes me look like a judge from the 1700s
- 3:17because I got like a ponytail going on, if you could see that.
- 3:22I'm just, I'm saying I'm feeling very good today.
- 3:24And Amber is man. Well, the horns are a little
- 3:28weird, but everything else I'm saying you are smoking hot
- 3:31today. Thank you.
- 3:33That thank you. The Victorian makeup was very
- 3:38interesting for me. Not Victorian.
- 3:41Or Elizabethan. I don't know, somewhere in
- 3:44there. I'm not probably accurate to any
- 3:46specific time period, but. They put horns on.
- 3:50What they didn't do? That that's not period accurate.
- 3:53Maybe they did it like a masquerade.
- 3:54I'm. Sure they did.
- 3:55Horns and a little mask. Why we could have got masks?
- 3:59There's still time. There's still time, yes.
- 4:02Anyway, so here we are, Episode 16 and we have our announcement
- 4:06of new states, territories, colonies, countries, etcetera.
- 4:11What have we got? Yeah, well, we picked up some
- 4:13new states, which is really exciting because, you know,
- 4:18we've been kind of wondering what would happen while we were
- 4:21gone. Obviously our last episodes were
- 4:24recorded, you know, kind of back-to-back.
- 4:26So we didn't know who was coming, but we got California.
- 4:33Oh, the big one. They know how to party.
- 4:35California. A Yes, yes.
- 4:38And South Carolina. Oh.
- 4:41Yes. So those are two new states, but
- 4:44we also caught a new country. Uh oh.
- 4:49Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago.
- 4:52Tobago. Maybe either 1 is.
- 4:55Tobago. And I'm saying it Tobago, 'cause
- 4:57I'm such a Minnesotan. They probably have an accent, so
- 4:59we're saying it wrong regardless.
- 5:01Sure, I'm sure, but. You know, is it Caribbean, like
- 5:04I don't know, like Jamaican like like Srinidad is that.
- 5:08I didn't actually listen to how they spoke it.
- 5:11I suppose that would have been a wise move.
- 5:14OK, I had a friend growing up in grade school whose parent?
- 5:18Whose mom was from Trinidad. Yeah.
- 5:22That was before. Did they combine at some point?
- 5:25I don't know, but they are two separate places.
- 5:28They are they, they, but they for whatever our reasoning is,
- 5:32they are grouped together. But it is Trinidad and Tobago
- 5:36that sounds more reasonable than Tobago.
- 5:38Yeah, but may on do I sound Minnesotan when I say that?
- 5:41Tobago. Tobago, I'm not trying to insult
- 5:44anyone, it's just how I talk, sorry.
- 5:47And in in tradition, each time we get a new country, I give it
- 5:52the old college try, which is funny because I didn't graduate
- 5:56college, but I did go briefly. I give it a try to say hello in
- 6:01that language. Now, their language is English,
- 6:04and I would guess also maybe Spanish.
- 6:07I don't know, Maybe I'm wrong. A lot of the Caribbean has some
- 6:09Spanish in it. But the greeting from there is
- 6:14was the scene. Yeah.
- 6:16Yeah, which I want to know what's the scene?
- 6:19I think we're the scene. We're the scene.
- 6:21Yeah, we are. But we're.
- 6:22Not in Trinidad and Tobago. But we are with the advancement
- 6:27of technology right now. If they're watching us right
- 6:30now, they're for sure going to tell their friends.
- 6:32Even if we totally diff it, they're going to be like, look
- 6:36at these two costumes. Well, yeah.
- 6:39Out of control. Out of control for sure.
- 6:41We this. Is our best, I think.
- 6:45I think so, and we usually do have costumes and our.
- 6:48Ego. And all of that.
- 6:49We go pretty hard. We go really hard and I when we
- 6:52were talking about our costumes for this year, I was like, we
- 6:55kind of have built in themes we do.
- 6:57And since we were wanting to do spooky season, I was like, we
- 7:00need to give them a big show for our final spooky season of the
- 7:05month. Yes.
- 7:07And so here you go. Here we are.
- 7:09And then briefly, I just want to apologize.
- 7:11We've had some technical difficulties today, so if our
- 7:15sound is a little worse, it's because our microphone died.
- 7:18And you know, sometimes you can't predict these things.
- 7:20So we'll have to work on getting a new microphone setup.
- 7:22But yeah, we'll do what we can to clean it up in editing.
- 7:26We're in the market for a new one, so if you happen to know
- 7:29anything about podcast microphones, you know, maybe
- 7:31drop a comment, let us know. Yeah, we'll enjoy it.
- 7:35So like we said earlier, we were gone.
- 7:39You know, we had done those recordings because we had been
- 7:42on vacation. We'd send that in other episodes
- 7:44and that's what we were doing and and we went.
- 7:49We did, and we Halloweened so hard.
- 7:51We Halloweened so hard. It was the.
- 7:54Halloween. Yes, Halloween.
- 7:56This might rival Salem. Maybe.
- 7:59I I mean like. Salem maybe felt more Halloween
- 8:02because the whole town was spirited.
- 8:04Yes, but we paid to be in all the Halloween places this time
- 8:09and it was really, really fun. We had gone to the new Universal
- 8:17Epic Park. Epic Universe.
- 8:20Epic Universe. At Universal.
- 8:22Yeah, it doesn't matter. And the reason we've gone there,
- 8:25you know, as we've said before, was because we wanted to visit
- 8:28the dark more monsters. And we went and did that.
- 8:32We did, and my daughter and I did some really fun face makeup
- 8:38there. For sure.
- 8:40You guys looked amazing. They had a do a thing where you
- 8:43did makeup to become a monster. Yeah.
- 8:46And they both did like Frankenstein's monster theme and
- 8:50it was on point. I would highly recommend if you
- 8:54go to Universal Studios and you're planning on going to Epic
- 8:57to do that experience. As far as theme park things go,
- 9:02I think it was really, really reasonably priced if you just
- 9:06did the makeup. Otherwise, I don't know if I
- 9:10would have done the whole makeover because you're buying
- 9:12costume pieces and but like, we got it done early in the day and
- 9:16they were touching up our makeup all day for free.
- 9:19Yeah. So it was a really cool
- 9:21experience. Unfortunately, I will give the
- 9:28addition or the park like the park itself was beautiful.
- 9:34Yes, most beautiful park, I think actually of any of the
- 9:37theme parks down there in Florida, in my opinion.
- 9:40I agree the the scenery of the whole of the park, Yeah, which
- 9:44isn't just Dark Universe, it's. Definitely not. 4 separate lands
- 9:48and they have a new Harry Potter park called the Ministry of
- 9:53Magic I think and it's a France based Harry Potter which looked
- 9:58amazing. Yeah, they all looked amazing.
- 10:00They looked and then they had the How to train your Dragon
- 10:05Island of Burke Land of Burke. Isle of Burke.
- 10:10That was also supremely well done.
- 10:12Yeah. And then they had, I don't know
- 10:16if it was a Nintendo World or Super Nintendo World, one of the
- 10:19two, but I'm going to just call it Nintendo World.
- 10:21Yeah. And that one was, I think, the
- 10:23most immersive because it was very Nintendo E.
- 10:29OK, so let me ask you something, and it's not the big question.
- 10:36What would you consider 'cause I'm not as much of A gamer or at
- 10:42all? What would you, what would
- 10:44define it to be Super Nintendo versus Nintendo for you?
- 10:47Well, the games themselves. OK, like what's Super Nintendo
- 10:52and what's Nintendo? It was super rare.
- 10:57Like is there different characters?
- 10:59Like the whole thing is Nintendo but Super Nintendo.
- 11:02I mean, like, well, so in the well, that's two different
- 11:05questions, two different answers.
- 11:06It's one question for you, and I'll try not to bore you.
- 11:08So I've got about four seconds, so bear with me.
- 11:11Yeah. They both had the same
- 11:13characters carry through from Nintendo to Super Nintendo, but
- 11:16the games were redesigned and better and different.
- 11:18So they still had the Mario Brothers and Donkey and Diddy
- 11:21and Zelda, but they like updated the graphics and they made it
- 11:25look better and they changed the story.
- 11:26But they did, of course, as they do with every new game system,
- 11:29add new games. So I don't know what they were.
- 11:31I'm not that much of A like a like a true enthusiast, but the
- 11:36ones I like got better from Nintendo to Super Nintendo.
- 11:40I'm recalling it being called Nintendo World.
- 11:43It might be. So I think that that is, I bet
- 11:47they just kind of were like, yeah, everything Nintendo.
- 11:49I don't know. So yeah, that was there was a
- 11:55lot going on in that world. There was a lot.
- 11:57It was a high intensity. Super hard for someone like me
- 12:01that is clearly over stimulated easily I.
- 12:04Don't know if that's clear to the listener, but.
- 12:06No, I mean, but to me it's clear.
- 12:08Like I, I don't know what it is, but if you have too many things
- 12:11going on, I'm just like, just shut up everything like.
- 12:15I did that. Earlier color, turn down sound,
- 12:18turn down noise. People like just everything.
- 12:22And maybe I could just be in a nice quiet room.
- 12:25I don't know. So yeah, you did that earlier
- 12:28today. Need a quiet room because
- 12:30earlier today we were going to school conferences and I was
- 12:32just yapping away and she goes shut up.
- 12:39Yeah, because you were. Well, I was trying to park the
- 12:41car in something. You just kept shouting at me.
- 12:43I was like parallel parking. You're shouting like that's not
- 12:45helpful. I wasn't.
- 12:46Shouting. You were.
- 12:47I was animatedly talking. I know.
- 12:49I mean like you weren't mad shouting, but you were yelling
- 12:54whatever it was like turn, turn, turn, turn, turn.
- 12:56And I was like just you've got to stop.
- 12:58You've got to just let me do this and concentrate like I, I
- 13:02don't know. I'm sorry that I was too much.
- 13:04I clearly was too much. Yeah, I was.
- 13:06You have always been this way. Have I always been this way?
- 13:08Oh, for sure. Oh, OK, well.
- 13:10Yeah, you're still you. It's all good.
- 13:12That's good to know that I'm not like changing and.
- 13:14I'm usually not that I was very animated, I think it's because I
- 13:19felt like I was in a hurry. Yes, yes.
- 13:22And I had just had some caffeine, so maybe you know.
- 13:27Well, so anyhow, Nintendo was just a a lot for for me after
- 13:32I'd already been to a couple other part.
- 13:34Maybe not. I mean like the inside, like the
- 13:36celestial park was gorgeous and calm and like just lots of
- 13:41greenery and water. Features.
- 13:44And like, not necessarily calming music, but certainly not
- 13:48the Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo.
- 13:51I'm so excited that you just nailed that.
- 13:54Did I? Yeah, you did.
- 13:55Was I right? I'm sure.
- 13:56Look at me. Yeah.
- 13:58So anyhow, it wasn't that incessantly, because that's what
- 14:01it was doing in Nintendo World. And so I kind of always felt
- 14:05like I was hurting. But I know that that was a huge
- 14:07drop for you and our child. I didn't know that that was
- 14:12going to be the one I liked the most.
- 14:14I Yeah. I mean, I think like I'll say
- 14:17this and, and I don't care because I'm sure a lot of people
- 14:20have said it, that I think Universal stopped too short on
- 14:25the other 3 lands. Like they all looked really
- 14:28cool. But I feel like they could have
- 14:30done more like stores and shops like they have at their other
- 14:35locations and more places to eat like they have at their other
- 14:38locations. And I don't know, I just, it
- 14:40didn't, it felt like they didn't go as far as they had at their
- 14:43other places. I felt Burke was done.
- 14:45Yeah, that was good. That was really.
- 14:47Good. Done really well.
- 14:48And I think the set for the ministry or whatever, I think
- 14:55that was good, but it wasn't filled in.
- 14:58Like it wasn't fully I, it wasn't fully realized Dartmoor.
- 15:03And I'm not just saying this because I'm a universal monster
- 15:07lover. Love it was too.
- 15:10Small. Too small?
- 15:11Yep. And I talked to several people
- 15:13about it and everybody like even employees who are not supposed
- 15:17to have an opinion were like, yeah, agreed.
- 15:19Yeah. So.
- 15:21Well, it was really fun getting and I, I don't know if we hadn't
- 15:25have gotten those makeovers, if I would have just been
- 15:27completely bummed out. But the makeovers were on point.
- 15:30Also, we had the bonus at the end of the day.
- 15:32We did think. Where we ran into and got to do
- 15:35a character meet greet and picture with the Invisible Man.
- 15:38Yes. And then to top it off with the
- 15:42monster and the bride. Our favorites.
- 15:45Our favorites? I mean, yes, and they were
- 15:47great. They were good.
- 15:48They were good. Now the thing that I will say
- 15:53about it was I thought the ride that I went on, the Monsters
- 15:58Unchained or whatever. It was really good.
- 16:01It was really good. It was really good.
- 16:03It was essentially the story of Dracula fighting.
- 16:08I don't know this the some crazy scientist doesn't really matter,
- 16:13honestly. It does to somebody, but.
- 16:15It sure does, because it was Victoria Frankenstein.
- 16:18OK, being fighting against, I don't know, a calmed
- 16:25Frankenstein or something. So that that whole part I was
- 16:28like meh, but like the Dracula part of the ride and the
- 16:31animatronics was really good. And I'm one of those if rides
- 16:36are too spinny or gosh, I really have issues, don't I?
- 16:41If rides are too spinny or too jerky or too much of the lots of
- 16:47rides, they love to put the video screens up.
- 16:50OK, Goldilocks. If there's too much of that,
- 16:53I'll get motion sickness. I guess I'm just a touchy
- 16:55person. I don't think any of these.
- 16:58Have to be just. Right, Just right.
- 17:00But this one was just right. Yeah.
- 17:02And it was really fun and it was really cool to see kind of the
- 17:06vampire stuff in there. Oh, for sure.
- 17:08Yeah, yeah. And I guess honestly, that's
- 17:12what we're going to be talking about today.
- 17:13It sure is. Not just our fun vacation, which
- 17:17I'm sorry we didn't bring you all with, but check out our our
- 17:22pages and you can see all of our.
- 17:24We did earn some new followers while we.
- 17:26Did This was kind of a challenge I had because I'm not always the
- 17:31most outgoing person, that's true.
- 17:33But I decided that I was going to tell people if I got into any
- 17:36conversations about our podcast to try to drum up some new
- 17:40listeners. Yes.
- 17:41And I'm pretty sure we got some new listeners because I was able
- 17:44to look and see where people have, you know, states we
- 17:47already had the new cities. And I was like, that sounds like
- 17:49the person I was talking to. I told several people and our
- 17:54daughter told one person. I told a few people.
- 17:58Yeah, yeah. And it was really, it was just
- 18:00really different for me to purposefully engage people in
- 18:05conversation, especially people I don't know and not for
- 18:09business. Well, I guess technically it is
- 18:11a business reason, not making any money in the business, but
- 18:14you know. Well, that's fine.
- 18:15This is our hobby business. Literally, it's a hobby.
- 18:18Look at us. Well, this is OK.
- 18:20I'm gonna say the costumes are. It's just a matter of what our
- 18:24decision is. We do costumes.
- 18:26We do costumes every year, but this one is next level.
- 18:29Yeah. The other thing we did while we
- 18:30were in dark more that is also vampire related was we ate at a
- 18:34place called Das Steakhouse. Yes.
- 18:37'Cause that's super German. Yes, yes.
- 18:40Yeah, I don't think it's steak Fleisch.
- 18:43That's. Probably right.
- 18:44That's meat. Yeah, that sounds right.
- 18:45And House's house, so das Fleischhaus would have been
- 18:48maybe actual German. And that would have sounded
- 18:50better. It would have the flesh house,
- 18:52right? Whoa, the decorations.
- 18:55Will change it, call us up 'cause we deserve some money on.
- 18:58That that's what I'm saying. Just a little.
- 19:00Just some royalties maybe. Yeah, like a cut of the
- 19:02restaurant. But they had in that restaurant
- 19:05some very good vampire decorations and art.
- 19:08Yes, and like, like fake sarcophagus stuff in the walls.
- 19:14And that was very well done. I have been a little fascinated
- 19:19by vampires most of my life ever since I saw the original.
- 19:25I don't know if it's the original, but one of the early
- 19:29black and white vampire movies, not the not the very first one
- 19:36that is silent. But the silent 1 was Nosferatu
- 19:39I. Think yes, yes, that was.
- 19:41With count forlock. I'm sure I saw it, but I was not
- 19:45as into silent films and I'm probably still not, but I really
- 19:49do appreciate that movie now. And like just thinking about all
- 19:53that they had to do 'cause they didn't have what we got today,
- 19:57You know it. Wasn't like a green screen and
- 20:01digital imaging and you. Yeah.
- 20:03But did you know how they made, like, women's lipsticks, like,
- 20:07look black and stuff back then? They used green, Green lipstick,
- 20:11green makeup. Yeah.
- 20:12Worn green lipstick before. I have, but that was for Saint
- 20:15Patrick's Day. It's true.
- 20:16So, but it's just really so anyhow, I think I recall that so
- 20:22much when I wish I could remember his name.
- 20:25But when he came on screen and like there was the he can't be
- 20:29seen in a mirror type of a thing with the woman in the bedroom.
- 20:33And you know, he's just like sitting there with his hands
- 20:36hunched over and stuff and. I think that was 1931 Dracula.
- 20:40Oh, did you do research? No, but we were just in
- 20:43Universal and they had a poster on the wall and it said Dracula
- 20:47in 1931. Yeah, same here as Frankenstein,
- 20:50actually. I loved that movie.
- 20:51I mean I am I. It's a great movie.
- 20:53We rewatched it as adults recently.
- 20:55Yep, Yep. And when I was a kid, my mom,
- 20:58when I was a kid, my mom had us watch all those classic
- 21:01Halloween or horror monster movies.
- 21:04So it was really. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:08That's we just didn't. I don't know man.
- 21:10Oh, I kind of feel bad for your early film life, you know?
- 21:15I feel bad for you being traumatized.
- 21:17I. Wasn't I loved Dracula and I
- 21:22thought that he was just such a so fascinating, right?
- 21:26Like the concepts of being able to what they call an I heard
- 21:33this term and I'd forgotten about it.
- 21:35Like True Blood, the glamouring, you know, that's what they call
- 21:39blood. So whatever it is hypnotizing,
- 21:41you know, like hypnotizing someone and all of that.
- 21:44I thought that was really fascinating and then the concept
- 21:48of garlic being so scary for them.
- 21:53That was I, I didn't like garlic back then when I was a kid.
- 21:57So I was like, same, same. I will run away.
- 22:01But I love garlic today, so that's good.
- 22:03Oh so good. And then the cross, you know,
- 22:06like having the cross will keep you safe.
- 22:09But I recently read something and supposedly the cross only
- 22:16keeps true believers safe from a vampire.
- 22:21So if you're. That makes sense.
- 22:23Yeah, if you're agnostic or, you know, work, yeah, it won't work.
- 22:27Or yeah. I mean, you have to believe that
- 22:29that cross means something. Otherwise Dracula be like, get
- 22:34that out of here. I don't care, I don't care.
- 22:37But mirrors today. So like back in the Dracula
- 22:39movie, Yeah, those mirrors were supposed to be silver, right?
- 22:44And we're very much like silver for whatever.
- 22:47Why do we think silver is so important against monsters?
- 22:51I don't know. Cuz think about like.
- 22:53Maybe it is. The werewolf, right?
- 22:55Like, I mean, silver bullet Dracula, can't you know it's.
- 22:59Probably all from some book or movie cuz like so much of what
- 23:03we think about a lot of I don't know.
- 23:07I mean, I don't actually know where it came from, but we're
- 23:09not doing a werewolf episode. So I didn't, I know, research.
- 23:12That being said, I don't really do research.
- 23:15I'm kind of sure I need to do some looking as to why is is
- 23:19silver. I mean, it's almost like it's
- 23:21got to be considered a holy metal or something.
- 23:24Maybe. Maybe it is.
- 23:25You know, if my phone wasn't being used right now, I would
- 23:28Google that. But yeah, it's fine.
- 23:30Yeah. So, yeah, it was just
- 23:32interesting to me back then. And it has continued to be a
- 23:35passion. There have been many vampire
- 23:38things that I've been, like, on board, right.
- 23:41You know, I mean Anne Rice. Bram Stoker.
- 23:45Abrams, did you know what his full name is?
- 23:48Tell me. Abraham Stoker.
- 23:51OK. Of course.
- 23:54That's OK. I don't even think that's weird.
- 23:56Well, I was like, why? I was shocked.
- 23:58I was like, why didn't I ever come up with that would be what
- 24:01is short for Bram. It's a fun little twist on
- 24:05Abraham. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:07Feel like my name was Abraham. I was like Bram, Yeah, Bram,
- 24:10yeah, yeah, me too. None of this Abe stuff.
- 24:13Yeah, that's so boring. And Bram makes people think of
- 24:16Bram Stoker's Dracula Epic book. Yes, it's been remade into, I
- 24:20don't know, dozens of movies at least probably.
- 24:23But and he. The epic one would be the one
- 24:25where Gary Oldman was the vampire.
- 24:28I don't know who Gary Oldman is. He was the He was Dracula and
- 24:31Bram Stoker's Dracula the movie. I'm thinking of Gary Coleman.
- 24:36Not the same person, no. What you talking about?
- 24:40Willis? No, it'd be so cute though.
- 24:43I mean, it can't happen now. That would not be cute.
- 24:46That would be Nope. Yeah, it can't happen now.
- 24:50Like what you talking about I. Want to see.
- 24:52I want to see because there was one where Christopher Lee, Sir
- 24:56Christopher Lee, the legendary, made he rest in peace.
- 25:00I don't play Dracula. I don't know who that is.
- 25:02Christopher What? No.
- 25:04I know who Christopher Reeves is.
- 25:06Oh my goodness, Superman. I don't know Christopher Lee.
- 25:09Would you, would you recognize it if I told you he played
- 25:12Saruman the White Wizard in The Lord of the Rings?
- 25:16I know who that is. Like I know who Sauruman is.
- 25:21Am I messing up my that's? Sauruman.
- 25:23That's him. Sauruman was the evil Lord.
- 25:26Sauruman was the White Wizard. OK, I know who that is.
- 25:31And then I don't, I couldn't put him in anything else.
- 25:33It's like people become the character and then I can't see
- 25:37them as anything different, right, like that.
- 25:39Brain stuck on Lord of the Rings and Dracula but he did like so
- 25:44many movies and real life story of the guy he fought in World
- 25:48War One and World War 2 for the British both and then he was
- 25:54like a knight and then it's his life story's absolutely insane.
- 25:59Yeah, so you know of absolutely insane life stories.
- 26:04I don't know. For the current concept of
- 26:08Dracula that we have today, there was a lot of research done
- 26:13to write that book. And Mr. Stoker was like, I want
- 26:19to find out about the most gruesome person in Europe and
- 26:24use them as my archetype for for a vampire.
- 26:29And so he did. And that's where we've got the
- 26:34concept of Dracula today. You know that.
- 26:38Like Vlad, be Impaler. Yeah, yeah.
- 26:40But he was, so he used the real person.
- 26:42He's a real person. Vlad, he used him, is what
- 26:45you're saying? Yes, that's his inspiration and
- 26:47he's even more messed up I think, than actual Dracula.
- 26:52Well, maybe. I mean.
- 26:55Except, you know, the eating of of people.
- 26:57And what? He did way worse things.
- 26:59Well, sure. I mean, I think most of our
- 27:01viewers probably know at least some of the story of the real
- 27:04Vlad the Impaler. Yeah, he's pretty awful.
- 27:06I think I would prefer like if I had to hang out with the two,
- 27:10I'd be like, give me Dracula all.
- 27:11Day instead. Yeah.
- 27:13Oh yeah. Because, because he could also
- 27:15glamour me. That's and I wouldn't know him.
- 27:18You'd just be like, I'll do whatever.
- 27:19Yeah, I'd be like, whatever you say, Dracula.
- 27:22But you know, I feel like if I were to meet Vlad, I'd be just
- 27:24screaming. Yeah, OK.
- 27:28Well, so long as you weren't the enemy, that would be important.
- 27:30Yeah, but he wanted to go to like where they, the current or
- 27:36most recent home of major vampire lore was.
- 27:39That's why he went to Eastern Europe and he's like, cool,
- 27:42apparently I didn't. I think Transylvania, right,
- 27:45Right. I don't know if you'd think
- 27:46Transylvania, but I think. Well, that's the that's the
- 27:49made-up place, isn't it? No, there's a bit of
- 27:51Transylvania. OK.
- 27:53In Romania. Oh, right.
- 27:55But like originally at that or at some point like the big hub
- 28:00was in Russia and I can't remember, I, well, I remember
- 28:05that the term vampire sprouts from a Russian term which I
- 28:11could not state to you. Right, because it's in Cyrillic.
- 28:14Cyrillic. It's in that that language that.
- 28:17Yeah. Whatever Russian and whatever.
- 28:19Yeah, so. But if that's so, if you hear
- 28:21that, you'd be like, Oh yeah, that makes sense.
- 28:23Where vampire came from the term vampire, but the concept of
- 28:28vampires have been around since Mesopotamia.
- 28:33OK, I I believe it or not, I did a little research.
- 28:37Oh. Who do you think the oldest or
- 28:39first representation of a vampire is?
- 28:41It is Lilith. How old is that?
- 28:44The beginning of time. No, no, I mean the story.
- 28:47The beginning of time. What do you No, no, no, no, no.
- 28:51I don't mean in its in its mythological form.
- 28:53I mean when it was written in real time.
- 28:57When it was written in real time, it has so it.
- 29:01That's Bible stuff, right? No, when it was written.
- 29:06No, because it's not. Lilith is not a part of the
- 29:09Bible. OK, when was it?
- 29:11So it was before written history, it was a oral history
- 29:16and then it was put into writing when they're like, cool, here's
- 29:20our and I don't remember the name of the book or how it goes,
- 29:26but like Jewish folks, their oral tradition was put into a
- 29:31book. So like there's two Genesis
- 29:34books. We do a lot of talking about
- 29:36religion for two people who don't have much real knowledge
- 29:42experience. But anyhow, that's where it
- 29:44originated. The first vampire.
- 29:46To differ, I feel like I have a decent amount of knowledge and
- 29:49experience in religion. OK, great.
- 29:53Now, where do you think the first vampire came from?
- 29:57Well as we would loosely define it not as its current sort of
- 30:02quote UN quote modern day with the whole blood sucking fangs
- 30:05and whatnot. Sekmet from ancient Egypt 5500
- 30:10ish years ago. She was either the daughter of
- 30:16or appointed by the sun God to punish humanity and she was a
- 30:21demonic demonic goddess with the head of a lion.
- 30:25And she would eat and consume the blood of and the parts of
- 30:29people. This is very interesting because
- 30:31we spoke about all of this about an hour and a half ago.
- 30:36Well, about 30 minutes ago is when I found out so.
- 30:40I'm so proud of. Thank you the Internet I'm so.
- 30:42Proud of you. Coming through in the clutch.
- 30:44So, OK, well, let's talk a little bit about history.
- 30:47What else did you learn? Now you're thinking I did a lot,
- 30:49OK. That's true.
- 30:50OK. I really didn't, but I read that
- 30:52and I was like, OK, well that checks out.
- 30:53Segment. I've heard the name before.
- 30:55Yeah, well, I mean, but you know.
- 30:57What I mean the powerful 10? OK.
- 30:59That's another thing I learned about Sekmet.
- 31:01But so when I was doing research as to why people thought, you
- 31:05know, vampires existed and things like that, it has to do
- 31:09with, you know, honestly, early, like early childhood deaths and
- 31:15frequent deaths going on, not just with children, but like
- 31:18when if there was a new plague or a new sickness, they're like,
- 31:22gosh, somebody in our family. And it would be like family
- 31:26people that they would always be worried about.
- 31:28They're like, they were evil. They did something wrong.
- 31:30And because they were evil and did something wrong, God was
- 31:33like, poof, you're a vampire. So when they were dead, just in
- 31:40case they had done something wrong.
- 31:42And this was a huge thing. And actually as late as 18-50
- 31:46people were worried about their family being dead Vampires here,
- 31:49even in the US, but that checks out.
- 31:52They would do this. That's bomb.
- 31:54Wasn't Bram Stoker's Dracula written in like 18?
- 31:58Yeah. 17, Yeah, yeah, there were.
- 32:00So the historian. The hysteria of vampires
- 32:04continues and most the time when you see the height of it, it's
- 32:07when there's been like large sicknesses.
- 32:10It's probably I I mean this one of the reasons that I semi
- 32:14demanded we have an episode about vampires is because
- 32:18they're like probably the most, I would say, prolific and
- 32:27pervasive topic of monsters or demons or like because there's I
- 32:33bet I couldn't even tell you like how many movies have been
- 32:36made. If you just said even in the
- 32:38last 100 years, which really is the start of movies right to now
- 32:43there I bet you there's hundreds of vampire movies.
- 32:46I would be shocked if there weren't, yeah.
- 32:48And I would not say there are hundreds of pick any of the
- 32:51other monsters like from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
- 32:54There's probably in I bet in the 20s, thirties, maybe of movies.
- 33:00Same thing with like, I don't know, werewolves.
- 33:03There's maybe there's more about witches, Maybe.
- 33:06But I don't. I don't.
- 33:07Know man, vampires are like a big deal.
- 33:09I don't know. Well, I mean in the concept of
- 33:13being undead. Right.
- 33:16You know, and people were like, dude, I, you know, like if your
- 33:20child died and, you know, you're like, well, we gotta go dig up
- 33:24Uncle Marv. Uh oh.
- 33:26And take a look and see. What happened to Uncle Marv?
- 33:28Well, you know, he's most recently dead.
- 33:30And just so you know. So is he a vampire?
- 33:32That's what we're working. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:34And we're digging him up. We're digging him up.
- 33:36Oh my goodness. We're gonna dig him up and.
- 33:38Or Uncle Marv. Yeah, I know it's real hard for
- 33:41the guy, but he's, you know, he's not, you know, he's kind of
- 33:44hurting our, our family. So we need to do this.
- 33:47So they would dig them up and they would look at these people.
- 33:49And now today is a little different because of the
- 33:52embalming and all of that, right?
- 33:54But they'd be bloated and gassy and stuff like that.
- 33:57And they would be pale because they're dead.
- 34:00And the concepts of long fingernails and hair, when you
- 34:03die, your stuff continues to grow.
- 34:05So, but they would look at that. Forever.
- 34:07No, I think forever. I don't know until those things.
- 34:10I mean, it's a really long time. So they would look at it and
- 34:12they're. Like they get like the long
- 34:14curly weird. But I don't know if it's curly
- 34:16but after. You die if you're in a coffin.
- 34:17You grow. You keep on growing fingernails.
- 34:20You do. Well, I don't know for how long
- 34:22it must be at some point this stuff, but I mean, it's about
- 34:25it. It's just it's not messed up
- 34:27because nails and hair are just dead skin cells or dying them
- 34:32continually but. But if you're dead, your body is
- 34:35no longer going through the process of living and dying.
- 34:37It's dead all the way. Well, you know what?
- 34:39What if you're vampire? Sure isn't, I guess.
- 34:42Yeah, that was their thought. They're like this dudes clearly
- 34:45well fed because he's bigger than he was when he was alive.
- 34:48And he's got a huge fingernail. What about?
- 34:50The and he's gassy and he's smelly.
- 34:52You don't get fangs. I don't think they were looking
- 34:53for fangs because the sucking of blood is not necessary to be a
- 34:58vampire. The sucking of blood, right?
- 35:00Well, in modern vampire Lord, it certainly is, yes.
- 35:03But they would do all sorts of things to trick these people.
- 35:06They would do things like they thought vampires were, I don't
- 35:10know, stupid or something. Our current theory is, you know,
- 35:13they're very smart, but they would be like, cool, let's just
- 35:16flip him over. Just turn him over.
- 35:18Because then when he's back in the ground, he's gonna crawl his
- 35:20way. He's just gonna get deeper into
- 35:22the ground. They thought the dead people
- 35:24were gonna crawl into the ground.
- 35:26Instead of crawling up, yeah, sometimes they would put spikes.
- 35:30That's where the original spike was.
- 35:32Because they're like, well, if he tries to crawl up Uncle Marv,
- 35:34he's just going to get this, this, stake this.
- 35:37The stakes through or. Whatever.
- 35:39Yeah, that'll happen to him. So that's oh.
- 35:41I did read about the stake through the heart that the the
- 35:44only way to kill a an original vampire so not a not a created
- 35:49vampire is using white oak as the wood.
- 35:54Well, very specific. For the steak.
- 35:56So that wouldn't be very helpful if you're from like Africa where
- 36:00white oak is not native. It wouldn't be.
- 36:02You're not killing sect met no in Africa.
- 36:05No. Well, how could you?
- 36:06How? Can't you can't be done.
- 36:08Another thing they would do to trick their family OK is
- 36:11apparently. This is really interesting
- 36:14correlation, but they believed that vampires were like
- 36:20obsessive compulsive so they would be like cool.
- 36:23They believed that vampires had to count things.
- 36:28Oh like is that why they became Count Orla?
- 36:31I don't know, but I mean, if I think of this and along with
- 36:34Count of on Count of Sesame Street, it actually makes sense.
- 36:37But they'd be like, cool, we're gonna throw out a bag of rice
- 36:41and and the vampire won't be able to come into our house cuz
- 36:44he's gonna have to pick up every grain of rice and count it.
- 36:49So I wonder where some of the like like all the now that I'm
- 36:52thinking about things cuz you said stuff that people had a
- 36:54superstition about vampires. Like I wonder where the origins
- 36:58of like the mirror thing is or like the sunlight thing is or
- 37:03the garlic what how those came to be.
- 37:06So. Oh, and how about the whole they
- 37:10can't come in unless they're invited?
- 37:11I. Couldn't find that one.
- 37:13Oh well, tell us about what you found, because I didn't.
- 37:15With the sunlight, it's that they never saw them during the
- 37:19day. Because they were dead, Uncle
- 37:22Marv. Yeah, dead Uncle Marv never
- 37:24showed up during the day, so clearly dead Uncle Marv can't be
- 37:27out in the sun. OK.
- 37:29So I mean that's a kind of a logical, I mean illogical but
- 37:33logical. Yeah, kind of messed up thought
- 37:36just happened in my head. What would happen if, and I
- 37:39imagine there's probably some sort of a funeral director
- 37:44person that might know if you took a dead body and put it in
- 37:48the sun, does it get a sunburn like a like a normal person or
- 37:51does it get it like way worse? Maybe that's where it came from.
- 37:54Maybe someone put that Uncle Marv up on the surface and then
- 37:57he like turned bright red like 10 minutes.
- 37:59They were like, he's a vampire. He's allergic to the sun.
- 38:03Yeah, I don't. Know what if you can get mega
- 38:05sunburn when you're dead? You know what that does?
- 38:07That answer probably exists because of all the cadaver
- 38:11research that we're going to. Find out after the show because
- 38:14I want to know. All right.
- 38:15Well, sounds good. Sounds good.
- 38:16What else? Oh gosh.
- 38:19I mean, those were kind of some things that really stuck out to
- 38:22me. And like when you look at today
- 38:24again, the silver thing. The Mirror.
- 38:28Well, the mirror has something to do with silver, and I think
- 38:31that's maybe where I kind of went.
- 38:33And I found this other thing about the counting thing and I
- 38:35was like, that's hilarious. Like here, clearly, let's throw
- 38:39out some matchsticks and you're like, can't get into that door
- 38:41because I got to count them all. Yeah, I don't know why they
- 38:44would even think that that, but it was just a lore and people
- 38:47would do that to keep their families safe.
- 38:49Did you find out about the Why do they have to be invited?
- 38:52No, but I did see that in some places they felt if you carried
- 38:56your debt out of the house feet first, they would turn into a
- 39:00vampire. What?
- 39:03Yeah. So don't you got to go ahead
- 39:05first. First, apparently.
- 39:07No vampire. Maybe.
- 39:10Man, this is crazy. So this is like a thing that's
- 39:12been forever. Forever.
- 39:15Maybe that's why it's the one of the biggest stories.
- 39:17I mean, you can't go wrong with that.
- 39:19It's, it's just interesting how it's been adapted because then
- 39:21today you have like the glitter vampires, right?
- 39:24That's just one story. Well, what's cool, I think about
- 39:27current, maybe it's maybe it's all but current vampire stories
- 39:30is vampires are basically like like super powered.
- 39:34Like they can fly and they can, some of them can turn into bats
- 39:37and they can like they're super strong and they're super fast
- 39:41and they got, you know, I don't know, like all these cool.
- 39:45But that's all newer. That's all newer.
- 39:48I mean, I don't like the idea of the sucking of blood.
- 39:51Yeah, but I do. There was one story.
- 39:53I think it's the glitter story. Anyway, our daughter likes the
- 39:58the glitter story. And one of the things they can
- 40:01do is they can feed on animal blood.
- 40:05Yeah, OK. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:07Well, I think. That's not too bad.
- 40:09There's a We already eat animals.
- 40:10Yeah, well, there's a difference, I think when it
- 40:13became entertainment to like fear, right?
- 40:17So during fear, they were scary. And once they hit entertainment,
- 40:22well, what sells? And they're like, that's let's
- 40:26make them romantic. Oh, and pretty.
- 40:28And yeah, and extra powers and glamory.
- 40:31Yeah, yeah. So I think that's a lot of it.
- 40:33Yeah. I don't know, It's just a lot of
- 40:36fun things to to dig into, especially at this time of year.
- 40:41It's fun every time of year. I certainly have my favorite
- 40:45versions of Dracula or vampires. And hot take, it's not going to
- 40:51be a team Edward or what is it, Edward or Yeah, that sounds
- 40:55good. Yeah, I'm, I'm, that's not where
- 40:57my favorite vampires come from, but I think I just might be a
- 41:00little past that craze. Well, we did learn that we might
- 41:02both have the same favorite vampire.
- 41:05Yeah, but that would. It's semi cheating but it's.
- 41:08It's not that it's necessarily my favorite vampire, it would.
- 41:11It's just kind of like what powers and all of that work?
- 41:15I'd have a really, I don't know if I were to pick one, there
- 41:19would be different reasons for it.
- 41:20Like, I don't know I I am thinking though.
- 41:24But Luke, if let me ask you a question.
- 41:28OK, and surprise. And so here we are folks.
- 41:31The moment you've all been waiting for in this corner,
- 41:35claiming to weigh in at 125 lbs lowered it if you're if you're
- 41:40paying attention. I don't.
- 41:41Claim this because she wear in the dress to prove it.
- 41:44OK, so we got the most amazing. I'm just gonna redescribe this
- 41:48costume for the listener because you're missing out if you're not
- 41:50seeing the video, which is on Spotify, FYI.
- 41:53Yes, she's got like full like gothic makeup like Elizabethan
- 41:59era, like whited whited face, which isn't that hard because
- 42:04you're pale, super easy, but very very red spot blushed
- 42:08cheeks and a beauty mark on the lip and red red lipstick and a
- 42:13tall white wig. I know it's like a beehive.
- 42:16Fancy red dress with a like a neck ruffle.
- 42:19That's the name I was trying to come up with earlier.
- 42:22So anyway, that's what she's sporting today and a couple of
- 42:24horns because, you know, that's the.
- 42:27Lord and Lady. The theme of our deal?
- 42:30That's what she's coming in hot with today.
- 42:33And in this corner, we have Luke.
- 42:36Lord Luke to be exact. That's right, Who also is just
- 42:41so dapper in this outfit. And I'm really loving the horns.
- 42:46OK, good. I feel like it's just really
- 42:49bringing in our butted heads that we were dealing with a
- 42:52little bit earlier today. We did now this and This is why
- 42:58we are at such a straight up tie.
- 43:00It's not even funny. Uh oh.
- 43:01What's the record? Equal wins and losses.
- 43:05We're tied, tied, tied. Tied, tied, tied.
- 43:08What's the OK? What's the count?
- 43:10Well, we have 16 episodes. Right.
- 43:13We have three ties, OK? No, we each have six wins.
- 43:19Dang, and two ties? Oh no, there's probably still
- 43:24one open or something. Maybe it's like 5.
- 43:26And anyway, OK, so we're both tied on wins and losses and
- 43:30ties. And the stakes could never be
- 43:34higher. I love that.
- 43:36The stakes. Yeah.
- 43:39You and the jokes, yeah. You're always coming with it.
- 43:41I'm trying, you know, I mean maybe with these.
- 43:44Little curls coming off of you. OK, stop.
- 43:45Stop anyhow. However, I got a sweet.
- 43:49Phone. So my question for you is.
- 43:51Oops, fix my horns. Yeah, fix those if there were,
- 43:58for whatever bizarro reason. OK, A plague upon the earth.
- 44:04OK, where half of society at random at random was vampires,
- 44:11vampires and the other half of society at random you don't get
- 44:16depict. I understand.
- 44:17It's human, OK? You are allowed to choose your
- 44:21side. OK.
- 44:23Which side would you choose? This is a heck of a question.
- 44:27Mm hmm. This is a heck of a question.
- 44:30So I just want to say that I don't love the randomness part.
- 44:36Totally random. But I mean, I like to believe in
- 44:41my head that I get to keep the people around me that matter.
- 44:43But if no, you don't. If I don't, if I don't, I might.
- 44:46I might. You're right, I might not.
- 44:49But if I had to pick a side, I'm in a vampire camp.
- 44:56Why? Well, part of it is because
- 45:01probably from all of the books and movies that have existed
- 45:04that have told me what a vampire is, there are obviously some
- 45:09relatively significant drawbacks.
- 45:12Like for the most part, it seems like folks think that you got to
- 45:18like kill and suck the blood of any people to survive.
- 45:24So that doesn't sound like the greatest thing.
- 45:28And you don't know who would be part of your part of your crew.
- 45:31So that's another situation that's a problem.
- 45:34But I like the idea of like being able to the other the
- 45:39other crazy stuff they can do. I like the idea of being able to
- 45:42fly. Immortality has its like, you
- 45:48know, I kind of, I kind of like the idea of immortality.
- 45:50It sounds kind of fun because you could get super smart, you
- 45:55know, like you could, you could hone your craft and be, you
- 45:58know, really good at a lot of stuff if you live forever.
- 46:02So I like the idea of getting better at a lot of things.
- 46:04Like you can get really good at physical stuff like, you know,
- 46:09certain, I don't know, physical practices like, and you could
- 46:13get good at, I'm speaking so improperly.
- 46:17You could get good at grammar. So I like it.
- 46:22I like that. And I like the idea of being
- 46:26super fast and super strong. And there's some vampire stuff
- 46:32that like, well, what if because what if, what if you could still
- 46:36go in the sun and you just glitter camps.
- 46:38Sorry, you're defining that. And what if I could eat the
- 46:41animals? That's out too.
- 46:43Yeah, the the good parts are out.
- 46:45Well, OK, that's I'd still pick team vampire because I like the
- 46:48idea of having the powers. And and there's this to be said.
- 46:53If it was a 5050 split and vampires are real, there's
- 46:57really I don't think it anymore. There's no longer a question of
- 47:02do they have to live in secrecy in the shadows because because
- 47:06you really wouldn't be, you couldn't be if you're happy if
- 47:09half society only came out at night, it'd be pretty obvious
- 47:13that there was a difference. And if the other half was food,
- 47:17it'd be pretty obvious that there was a difference.
- 47:20So, so I think that like for those reasons, I would pick team
- 47:25Vampire. There's some reasons I could see
- 47:27that the argument on your side might be a little better, but I
- 47:31still think the idea of super super strength, super speed,
- 47:35being able to fly or turn into a bat, which is technically being
- 47:38able to fly and living forever all sound like pretty cool.
- 47:47So I think that's my that's my spot.
- 47:49I think that's where I'm at. OK.
- 47:52I might come up with other stuff because you're going to say some
- 47:54stuff and. Let's see.
- 47:56OK, well clearly this is an argument, so I disagree.
- 48:00I would not want to be a vampire.
- 48:02That's a problem. Well, I mean, if you're a
- 48:05vampire, I'm. Going to Glamour.
- 48:09You, that's how I'd have to work for me to be agreeable to
- 48:12anything. But I'm not going to be a
- 48:13vampire because I don't. I don't think I could live with
- 48:19how they live Right. Like the concept of having to
- 48:23kill people. If half of society is vampires
- 48:27and the other half is human, we got a numbers issue there right?
- 48:31Like we humans are only going to be.
- 48:35Food. Think about that.
- 48:39So. And it it's a reproduction, so.
- 48:42Sure, but I mean, like, we're going to be farm animals, which
- 48:45sounds pretty awful, but it sounds better than being having
- 48:50to eat somebody, right? You know, and and knowing that,
- 49:00like thinking about the concept that I would then be having to
- 49:03eat someone's family or maybe my own, you know, all of that.
- 49:07Like that's just things I don't, I wouldn't want.
- 49:10I don't think I could. I think I'd be a suicidal
- 49:13vampire real quick. But then the other thing is so
- 49:17like, just based on that alone, I, I could not do that.
- 49:21Also, I don't care to fly. Not even a little, not even a
- 49:24little. No, I don't That sounds pretty
- 49:26terrible. And really I you're saying you
- 49:32wouldn't have to hide that you can live out loud.
- 49:36But I mean, if it just happened like that, I think you almost
- 49:39would have to because you have to hunt your prey, right?
- 49:47And to hunt, to be a good hunter, you have to kind of
- 49:50pretend that you're not really trying to kill somebody, right?
- 49:54Like, OK, that's just, you'd have to make people believe that
- 49:58you're not a vampire. But then the other thing is,
- 50:00although I am super pale naturally, I love the warmth of
- 50:05the sun and not just like necessarily on my body, maybe
- 50:10for a few moments because like I kind of do have that sun
- 50:13resistant skin. But to lose out on that and to
- 50:18just hope for like the two warm nights all year long.
- 50:23Oh, it sounds awful. And like being dead or undead,
- 50:28the body's always cold. Like just that.
- 50:30Just living within my own skin sounds pretty unbearable.
- 50:35I also don't like small spaces, sleeping in a coffin.
- 50:38No, thank you. You know, So I just feel like
- 50:42those large things again. I love garlic.
- 50:47What am I going to do? Be like, I can't, I can't eat
- 50:49that. And it's salt.
- 50:51Yeah, everything's salt. Yeah, it would be really, really
- 50:55terrible. So I mean, I don't think I could
- 50:58also like be a vampire, live forever while all the humans
- 51:06that I know and all of my bloodline, you know, like while
- 51:09they're dying. Yeah.
- 51:12Maybe not all the humans. Half the humans I know are
- 51:15dying. I would not want to live that
- 51:17way. And the concept of learning
- 51:19things, OK, but I mean, does it really matter?
- 51:24Because like now I'm going to get really technical on
- 51:29education and stuff like that and jobs and things like how are
- 51:34you going to keep money? You still need things as a
- 51:36vampire it. Would be so easy to get money as
- 51:38a vampire. Or just steal money.
- 51:42Well, no. If you got really good at stuff,
- 51:43you could just be good at stuff that makes money.
- 51:46But like OK, I mean I do accounting.
- 51:49OK. I'm not going to be doing that
- 51:51forever. I have a pension, you know, like
- 51:54that's going to run out. Money's going to run out for
- 51:57someone, you know, like me, you know, or a Social Security that
- 52:00you think they're going to just fund that forever.
- 52:02They're not. So then, you know, like just
- 52:05economically, it does not feel like that would work.
- 52:08And I just, well, I feel, I feel I can see what you're saying
- 52:13about the supernatural gifts, you know, because, you know,
- 52:17like you're not killing them. Chances are they're able to
- 52:20regenerate all that. Like maybe your body might be
- 52:22feeling better on the inside, but feels like too much of AA
- 52:27dark, cold, lonely life. Because I don't think I'd trust
- 52:32other vampires either. Well, I mean, I OK, that's
- 52:39that's fair. Are you?
- 52:40Are you done? Yeah, that's my answer.
- 52:42So the answer for me is heck no. I don't want to be a vampire.
- 52:46I'm team. Human OK well just to counter a
- 52:49couple things cuz I have to no. You, don't you?
- 52:53Could just turn the heat up where you are.
- 52:55But you're always. You could also.
- 52:57See your bones? No, cuz it's not.
- 53:00That's not depicted. Vampires aren't always walking
- 53:02around shivering. That's not true at all.
- 53:04I. Know, but do I?
- 53:05Well, they touch gold like that. You're so cold.
- 53:08Right. But that's the people that touch
- 53:10them, sense them to be called. The vampires themselves don't.
- 53:13And you don't have to fly. You could just go real fast, run
- 53:17real fast. And technically if you can run
- 53:19real fast. And I think they can also swim
- 53:21without problems because they don't have to breathe.
- 53:24Old lore says they cannot cross running water.
- 53:29Interesting. OK, well anyway, take that away
- 53:31so you can run real fast and you could go to a warmer place that
- 53:35was like warm at night. You could just do that.
- 53:37You don't have to be stuck in Minnesota.
- 53:39I would definitely not be stuck in Minnesota if I was immortal.
- 53:43I might come. I might come visit.
- 53:45Well, because I'm sure some of the people I like are going to
- 53:48be cool and and it doesn't necessarily have to be like a
- 53:52always animosity relationship. I wouldn't trust you if you were
- 53:56a vampire. I didn't say you, I mean again,
- 54:01I would glamour you. So that's the solution for part
- 54:03of my problem. But I'm talking about just like
- 54:05normal people. There's a lot of people in
- 54:07today's society that not only believe vampires are real, but
- 54:10like want to be like hanging out with vampires.
- 54:12They want to be familiars and stuff there.
- 54:14Are people who believe they are vampires.
- 54:17I mean, of course. So I'm just saying like there's
- 54:22a way to make this vampire situation work out and not be,
- 54:25you know, always, always terrible, I think.
- 54:28Well, OK, I disagree, but my fundamental beliefs would
- 54:34disagree with me being able to do the job that's acquired by a
- 54:38vampire. Maybe it'd be like a Van Helsing
- 54:40and just slaughtering vampires. I don't know if I could do that
- 54:43either, maybe. I feel like you'd be able to get
- 54:46over that. You're kind of crazy.
- 54:47You know what I would I be like you're trying to kill me.
- 54:50Stake to the heart. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:52There you go. You get like one of them big,
- 54:55the boom boom guns that have the cylinders but just shoot out
- 54:58stakes. You'd be like, do, do, do, do,
- 55:00do, do, do. That'd be cool.
- 55:02A Tommy gun. Sure.
- 55:04That's what I would. Want same concept except real
- 55:06big. I don't really want it, but that
- 55:08would be what I would choose. OK.
- 55:10Just kind of sit there and a little.
- 55:12I get those old timey accents, you know, Be fun.
- 55:17We could probably talk about vampires for another hour, but
- 55:19we shouldn't. We shouldn't.
- 55:20That's it. That's it.
- 55:21So what? We've made our.
- 55:23Cases. We've made our cases.
- 55:24Now, folks, we need you to vote. Yeah, we do.
- 55:27Because for me, no, for me, I mean, who we got to break this
- 55:31tie? Again, Team Human, what side are
- 55:34you currently on? Well, that's unfair.
- 55:38Would you like to have supernatural powers?
- 55:41I think a lot of people would. OK, so.
- 55:46So here's how you vote. You vote on Spotify?
- 55:48Yes, there will be a poll. Yes.
- 55:50You can also vote through different social media channels
- 55:53and find us. We're arguing ever after on all
- 55:55the things. Yes, you can vote there through
- 55:57commenting. Follow us.
- 56:00You can definitely should follow us on Spotify and all the other
- 56:03places. We're on Apple, we're on iheart,
- 56:05we're on Spot or not Spotify. I said that already.
- 56:08Rate US on your app. Yeah.
- 56:12Be a five star rating. Hopefully that'd be good.
- 56:15I'd take a four. I'd take a four too.
- 56:17I'd take a four. There's nothing wrong with 80%.
- 56:19You know what I don't want A1A1. That'd be said star rating.
- 56:23I don't think we get any of those today because our costumes
- 56:25are lit. They're so legit anyhow, so do
- 56:28that and then share. Share this with all of your
- 56:31friends. Yeah, tell your friends and show
- 56:33them this one. Be like, these people are out of
- 56:34their minds. They're.
- 56:35Bonkers, but look. At their costumes, yeah.
- 56:37Yeah, check this video out. They must be vampires.
- 56:40Look at them. You do look, I mean, I'm.
- 56:42Just saying I have to have a pit.
- 56:44Because if we took the horns and just put some fangs in and like
- 56:49got to dark makeup, we for sure look like vampires today.
- 56:53That's super fun. Well, all right, so that's what
- 56:55you do. That's what you got.
- 56:57Thank. You all.
- 56:58See you next time. Yeah.
