- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, uh huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody.
- 0:07Speaker 1: You are listening to the voice now, come on, digny
- 0:09Speaker 1: one and only. Steve Harvey got a radio show one
- 0:13Speaker 1: more time partner, Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man.
- 0:19Speaker 1: How amazing is that? How good has God been to me?
- 0:25Speaker 1: How good has he been to you? Just check yourself sometimes,
- 0:30Speaker 1: just sit up and just just run a survey. Just
- 0:33Speaker 1: look at your life where it's at. That might not
- 0:35Speaker 1: be where you want it to be, but that's probably
- 0:37Speaker 1: some decisions you made. But really though, in spite of
- 0:41Speaker 1: all the crazy mistakes I don't made. I mean, man,
- 0:46Speaker 1: I I I look back at some of the decisions
- 0:49Speaker 1: I done came up with and and man, it's it's
- 0:51Speaker 1: it's just amazing. He let me live. I mean, it's
- 0:55Speaker 1: it's and and and to exist the way I exist,
- 0:57Speaker 1: it does nothing but grace, mercy, favor all that is.
- 1:02Speaker 1: That's what my mama praying for me when I wasn't
- 1:04Speaker 1: praying for myself. That had to be it, because man,
- 1:07Speaker 1: I can truly tell you I have made enough mistakes man,
- 1:12Speaker 1: stuff you would never even know about, and recovered from
- 1:15Speaker 1: them all you can too. And I don't care what
- 1:20Speaker 1: you've done. Marvin Sap has a song out that says
- 1:23Speaker 1: he saw the best in me when everyone else around
- 1:27Speaker 1: me could only see the worst in me. You know,
- 1:31Speaker 1: that's an important song man especially. You know. I want
- 1:35Speaker 1: to talk to men today because man, being a man
- 1:42Speaker 1: is so so difficult. Please know it has been my
- 1:48Speaker 1: quest ever since I was a little boy. My father
- 1:51Speaker 1: had one ambition, son, I don't care what you do,
- 1:56Speaker 1: but when I get through raising you, you will be
- 1:59Speaker 1: a man. That's all I want you to be. And
- 2:01Speaker 1: he never cared what I did for a living. It
- 2:03Speaker 1: never made a difference to him. You're going to be
- 2:06Speaker 1: a man. Manhood is difficult. Now, ladies just listening to this,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I'm not saying womanhood ain't. I don't know what it
- 2:13Speaker 1: takes to be a woman, so you know, but I
- 2:16Speaker 1: do know exactly what it takes to be a man.
- 2:19Speaker 1: So you know, sometimes when you talk to people on
- 2:22Speaker 1: the radio, you have to preface things because people are
- 2:25Speaker 1: just going he trying to make it look like womanhood ain't. No,
- 2:28Speaker 1: That's not what I'm doing. I'm just talking to men
- 2:30Speaker 1: today to explain to them that they by theyself and
- 2:34Speaker 1: struggling trying to figure this thing out that you are
- 2:37Speaker 1: not alone in your quest for manhood. That is difficult,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, man manhood is that kind of difficult,
- 2:47Speaker 1: and it becomes even more compounded if a young boy
- 2:51Speaker 1: does not have a male role model. I've said it
- 2:54Speaker 1: a thousand times. I'll say it again. A young boy
- 2:58Speaker 1: without a male role model is like an explorer without
- 3:01Speaker 1: a map. Well, I have a suggestion for everybody that's
- 3:04Speaker 1: struggling with manhood and all of the men out there
- 3:08Speaker 1: that are men. This messages for all of us, and
- 3:10Speaker 1: it's for me too. You know. I was listening to
- 3:13Speaker 1: George Myers the other day and she made a statement.
- 3:17Speaker 1: She said, sometimes you got to do the right thing,
- 3:21Speaker 1: even when it feels wrong. You know. One of the
- 3:24Speaker 1: difficulties of manhood is peer pressure and the misguided principles
- 3:32Speaker 1: of manhood. See what God wants us to be as
- 3:36Speaker 1: men and what we believe manhood is. It is sometimes
- 3:41Speaker 1: two different things. I'll give you an example. I wrote
- 3:44Speaker 1: this book for women, right and I was telling them
- 3:48Speaker 1: the three ways that a man shows his love, and
- 3:51Speaker 1: I called them three p's. We profess, we protect, and
- 3:55Speaker 1: we provide every man who is a man. That's how
- 3:59Speaker 1: he exhibits love. We're not talkie talkie comforting. Were not
- 4:03Speaker 1: great nurturists. But when it comes down to it, what
- 4:06Speaker 1: we all want to do, what is in our DNA,
- 4:09Speaker 1: is to profess our love for something you as a woman,
- 4:13Speaker 1: to protect you as a woman, and to provide for
- 4:15Speaker 1: you as a woman. That's in our DNA. Now, sometimes
- 4:18Speaker 1: that gets messed up, and I'll give you an example.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Sometimes when a boy doesn't have the proper, real role
- 4:25Speaker 1: model in his life, he takes that principle of love
- 4:28Speaker 1: that we all possessing us every man, the professing part,
- 4:31Speaker 1: the protecting, and the providing part, and we misplay it.
- 4:36Speaker 1: That's why gangs exist. Gangs exist off those three principles.
- 4:41Speaker 1: What's the first thing a gang member do? He professed,
- 4:44Speaker 1: He claim a hood. That's the first thing you do.
- 4:47Speaker 1: This is my neighborhood. I'm deuce Trey, I'm triple hh,
- 4:51Speaker 1: I'm doop de doop, I'm purple, I'm red, I'm blue.
- 4:54Speaker 1: The first thing they do is claim. That's professing. That's
- 4:57Speaker 1: how we show our love. But it's misguided. Now we're
- 5:01Speaker 1: professing something that ain't even good for us. Your hood,
- 5:04Speaker 1: your gang, your click now Guess what now, we got
- 5:09Speaker 1: to protect it. So now as a protection part of
- 5:13Speaker 1: our love, here we go. You come down here, we're
- 5:17Speaker 1: gonna do this to you. You go over there, they
- 5:19Speaker 1: gonna do that to you. You protect your hood, this
- 5:22Speaker 1: your turf, this all you got. Ain't nobody coming down
- 5:25Speaker 1: here with blue on? Can't nobody come over here with
- 5:27Speaker 1: red on? You can't come over here with purple on.
- 5:28Speaker 1: You can't come over here with black and gold on.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And we protect that because that's in our DNA. And
- 5:35Speaker 1: then what's the third thing we provide? So guess what
- 5:37Speaker 1: the gang need money? Guess what we do? We selling drugs,
- 5:42Speaker 1: were selling women, we're selling guns. It go back to
- 5:47Speaker 1: the same thing. Man. I don't know how God gave
- 5:49Speaker 1: it to me that way when I was writing a book,
- 5:51Speaker 1: but he showed it to me along the way. That's
- 5:53Speaker 1: how men love well when you don't have a role
- 5:56Speaker 1: model in your life. Guess what now? That love is misplaced,
- 5:59Speaker 1: is misguided, is off track. Ain't no man told you that?
- 6:02Speaker 1: Really you're supposed to take this love and give it
- 6:04Speaker 1: to a woman. You're really supposed to profess, protect and
- 6:08Speaker 1: provide for a woman, not your gang. Set. Now you
- 6:12Speaker 1: professing your hood, repping the color you, protecting your territory,
- 6:16Speaker 1: shooting people driving by coming over you on your street,
- 6:18Speaker 1: and then you provide. Now you're out here selling drugs
- 6:21Speaker 1: and guns for the same thing. When a boy does
- 6:23Speaker 1: not have a male role model, he has a misguided
- 6:28Speaker 1: way of looking at manhood. Here's the deal. See, God
- 6:32Speaker 1: created all of us in his image. That means He's
- 6:36Speaker 1: put some of our DNA in him. That's why it's
- 6:38Speaker 1: in your DNA to profess, protect, and provide because guess what,
- 6:43Speaker 1: that's what God do for us, because we His children.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I'm just talking to men right now. I'm just telling
- 6:50Speaker 1: you man, I had to wake up about five years ago.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I wasn't doing what God wanted me to do, and
- 6:56Speaker 1: then he shook me. He said, Man, I'm gonna bring
- 6:58Speaker 1: about some changes in your life. I'm gonna cause some
- 7:01Speaker 1: things to happen that's gonna put you in a position.
- 7:04Speaker 1: And this time you're gonna listen to me, because if
- 7:06Speaker 1: you don't, you're gonna keep living in this pain you've
- 7:09Speaker 1: been in. But you put yourself in this pain. I
- 7:12Speaker 1: owe no blame to no one else but myself. Please
- 7:15Speaker 1: know I know that, and that's how you really get
- 7:18Speaker 1: to manhood, when you figure out what you have been
- 7:20Speaker 1: done wrong. You can't blame this on none of your
- 7:22Speaker 1: exes because you a man. You can't go my xd this. No, No,
- 7:26Speaker 1: you a man, partner. You got to take responsibility for
- 7:29Speaker 1: yours and yours alone. If you got kids, you got
- 7:33Speaker 1: to get to them some kind of way. Write them
- 7:36Speaker 1: a letter, send them the money. If she won't let
- 7:38Speaker 1: you see it, for the money, whatever, send the money
- 7:41Speaker 1: to a mama. Do what you're supposed to do as
- 7:43Speaker 1: a man. Do what God wants you to do, man,
- 7:46Speaker 1: because he's not letting us off the hook for what
- 7:49Speaker 1: we're supposed to be just because you ain't doing it.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And if you do it, you turn your life around.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Just hollering that to fellas today, that's all sorry about that.
- 7:58Speaker 1: You're listening. Easy to see. Eve Harvey Morning Show
