- 2:59news, Governor Maura Healey signed new legislation
- 3:03on Monday expanding abortion rights in Massachusetts,
- 3:07removing the previous four -part framework for
- 3:09abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy. This new
- 3:14law allows a physician to perform an abortion
- 3:16based on their professional judgment, making
- 3:19Massachusetts one of 10 states without a statutory
- 3:22gestational limit on abortion. Healy emphasized
- 3:26the importance of this change, stating that abortion
- 3:29care is health care and aims to ensure patients
- 3:32can access necessary care without traveling out
- 3:35of state. However, opponents argue this weakens
- 3:38protections for unborn children and reduces oversight
- 3:42of later pregnancy abortion procedures. Now on
- 3:50to sports. In this week's injury report, starting
- 3:55pitchers experienced significant setbacks across
- 3:58baseball. The Rays lost Griffin Jacks due to
- 4:01an elbow injury. and Nathan Ivaldi was placed
- 4:04on the 15 -day injury list with right posterior
- 4:07elbow inflammation. Hunter Green's season is
- 4:11over as he undergoes season -ending elbow surgery.
- 4:15On a positive note, Blake Snell is set to return
- 4:18on Tuesday against the Royals after surgery to
- 4:21remove loose bodies from his left elbow. In local
- 4:25sports, the Red Sox dropped their third straight
- 4:28last night, falling 1 -2 to the Blue Jays in
- 4:31Toronto, despite six sharp innings from Sunny
- 4:34Gray, with Sadon Raffaella driving in the lone
- 4:38run. Boston is back at Roger's center tonight,
- 4:42Patrick Sandoval opposing Toronto's Dylan Cease,
- 4:46first pitch 7 -7, looking to snap the skid after
- 4:50riding a hot streak into this series. Adley Rutchman
- 4:54makes his Red Sox debut tonight, too. finally

- 5:34The Celtics, meanwhile, are remembering one of
- 5:36their own. Hall of Fame coach and five -time
- 5:40champion Don Nelson died Sunday at 86, with tributes
- 5:44pouring in from around the league. And Boston
- 5:47College kicker Luca Lombardo landed on the Lou
- 5:51Grozo Award preseason watch list as fall camp
- 5:54opens. In top news, Mark Zuckerberg said in an
- 6:01essay published on Metta's website that artificial
- 6:04intelligence tools should be shared with as many
- 6:07people and businesses as possible. Zuckerberg
- 6:10expressed his belief that superintelligence will
- 6:13advance national security, lead to greater economic
- 6:17prosperity, and promote scientific and creative
- 6:20achievement. He envisions free or affordable
- 6:23access to artificial intelligence for all. aiming
- 6:26to provide tools to billions of people. Zuckerberg
- 6:30disputes concerns about job displacement, stating
- 6:33that new job types will emerge instead. Mata
- 6:37will create a Futures for Everyone fund to benefit
- 6:40communities impacted by data centers, investing
- 6:44$1 billion. He also suggests resuming the release
- 6:48of open -source models to enhance competition.
- 6:53In business news, eBay may dodge a GameStop takeover,
- 6:57but there is a new twist in the Ryan Cohen saga.
- 7:01Bloomberg reports that GameStop could propose
- 7:04collaborating with eBay in a way other than a
- 7:07merger. Some analysts doubt whether eBay would
- 7:10benefit much from such a deal. GameStop chief
- 7:14executive officer Ryan Cohen is reportedly weighing
- 7:17whether to back off his plan to buy eBay outright
- 7:20and to find a different way to work with the
- 7:22online auction site instead. However, some analysts
- 7:26say the benefits to eBay from such a partnership
- 7:29are not so obvious. Bloomberg also reported that
- 7:33Cohen is now considering proposing a partnership,
- 7:36or joint venture, that would enable eBay to leverage
- 7:39GameStop's roughly 1 ,600 United States retail
- 7:43locations. GameStop, in turn, would try to get
- 7:46a spot on eBay's board, according to Bloomberg.
- 7:50In crypto movement, Bitcoin is down 2%. to $64
- 7:55,000. Ethereum is down 2 .5 % to just under $1
- 8:01,900. And XRP is down 2 % to $1 .01. Moving on
- 8:08to a more local vibe. In our community spotlight
- 8:12on health and wellness, we are working with a

- 8:45Hingham, Brookline, and Framingham, just be sure
- 8:49to tell them Sunny Morning sent you by. And now
- 8:53back to the show. Let's talk tech. OpenAI reportedly
- 9:00completed a $7 billion employee tender offer.
- 9:04The company bought back $7 billion worth of shares
- 9:08from employees to provide liquidity to its workforce.
- 9:12This deal, reported by Bloomberg, valued OpenAI
- 9:15at $852 billion, the same as its most recent
- 9:20fundraising round in March. which added $122
- 9:24billion to the company's resources. OpenAI filed
- 9:29confidentially with the Securities and Exchange
- 9:31Commission in June in preparation for a potential
- 9:34initial public offering later this year. However,
- 9:39a tender offer suggests that an initial public
- 9:41offering may not be forthcoming soon. With many
- 9:45tech companies remaining private longer, Private
- 9:48tenders have proven useful for firms to allow
- 9:50employees to realize the value of their stock
- 9:53compensation without public offering difficulties.
- 9:58OpenAI did not respond to a request for comment
- 10:00by publication time. Last month, OpenAI Chief
- 10:04Executive Officer Sam Altman stated that, We
- 10:08did not have our best 12 months ever, which is
- 10:11mostly my fault, but we are about to have our
- 10:13best 12 months to date. Firms going public typically
- 10:18want to show strong financial results to attract
- 10:20investors, and the Wall Street Journal reported
- 10:23in April that the company missed internal financial
- 10:26goals. While OpenAI's incredible growth in products
- 10:30are likely to generate massive interest in public
- 10:33markets, the potential debut of rival Anthropic,
- 10:37which was reportedly profitable earlier this
- 10:39year, gives the company a reason to ensure it
- 10:42puts its best face forward. The tender could
- 10:45signal that the much anticipated offering will
- 10:48wait for OpenAI's new strategy of focusing on
- 10:51its enterprise business to gain traction. And
- 10:57in entertainment news, J .J. Abrams is addressing
- 11:01fan theories surrounding the new sci -fi adventure,
- 11:05The End of Oak Street. Directed by David Robert
- 11:08Mitchell, the film features a family led by Anne
- 11:11Hathaway and Ewan McGregor. whose suburban street
- 11:14is transported to prehistoric times among dinosaurs.
- 11:19Abrams clarified at the Los Angeles premiere
- 11:21that the film is not connected to his Cloverfield
- 11:24franchise. The only connection to our Cloverfield
- 11:28movies is that Ewan's partner is Mary Elizabeth
- 11:31Winstead, he explained. He also expressed excitement
- 11:35about dinosaurs interacting in a suburban setting.
- 11:39Abrams shared his pride in his daughter, pop
- 11:42star Gracie Abrams as she makes her acting debut.
- 11:46I know how hard she's working, he said. The end
- 11:49of Oak Street opens in theaters on Friday. Well,
- 11:54all righty, folks, it's time for the quote of
- 11:57the day. And today, our quote comes from the
- 12:00American author and philosopher Eric Hoffer.
- 12:04And he said, in times of change, learners inherit
- 12:08the earth. while the learned find themselves
- 12:10beautifully equipped to deal with a world that
- 12:13no longer exists. And that's a wrap for this
- 12:17morning. You can check out our Instagram, YouTube,
