- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo — I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Episode 164, can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? We've been having so much fun at the park lately. Today we're going to talk about another playground classic. Luna: Oh, I love playground stuff! What is it this time? Lucas: It's the roundabout — you know, that spinning thing kids hold onto and run around to make it go fast. Luna: Oh, those! I used to get so dizzy on those as a kid. Lucas: Exactly! And that dizziness is actually part of today's lesson. But before we dive in, if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with your Spanish, and today's episode feels worth a coffee to you, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Alright, so the roundabout in Spanish is 'el tiovivo'. Let's say it together: el tiovivo. Luna: El tiovivo. Lucas: Good! Now, what do you do on a tiovivo? You spin around — 'dar vueltas'. Dar vueltas means 'to spin' or 'to go around'. Luna: Dar vueltas. So if I'm on the tiovivo, I'm spinning — estoy dando vueltas? Lucas: Exactly! You're giving it a try. So, 'dar vueltas' is the infinitive. If you're doing it right now, you say 'estoy dando vueltas'. Luna: Estoy dando vueltas en el tiovivo. Lucas: Perfect! Now, sometimes spinning too much makes you dizzy. Do you remember how to say 'I'm dizzy'? Luna: Uhh... is it 'me mareo'? Lucas: Yes! 'Me mareo' means 'I get dizzy' or 'I'm dizzy'. Let's practice: me mareo. Luna: Me mareo en el tiovivo. Lucas: I love that sentence. Now, a common thing you might say to a friend before they start spinning is 'hold on tight' — 'sujétate fuerte'. Luna: Sujétate fuerte. That's useful. Sujétate fuerte, no quiero que te caigas. Lucas: Ooh, good one! 'I don't want you to fall.' Now, if the roundabout is going really fast, you might say 'es muy rápido' — it's very fast. Luna: Es muy rápido. So if I'm on a fast tiovivo, I could say 'es muy rápido, me mareo'? Lucas: Absolutely. Let's run through all our phrases: el tiovivo, dar vueltas, me mareo, sujétate fuerte, es muy rápido. Luna: El tiovivo, dar vueltas, me mareo, sujétate fuerte, es muy rápido. Lucas: Great! Let's put them into a little scene. Imagine we're at the park and I point to the roundabout. Luna: Okay, I'll play along. Mira, Lucas, el tiovivo. Lucas: Sí, el tiovivo. Vamos a dar vueltas. Luna: Vale, pero sujétate fuerte. Lucas: Sí, sujétate fuerte. Es muy rápido. Luna: Ay, me mareo. Para, por favor. Lucas: Jaj—I mean, oh, that's so good! You used all the phrases naturally. I'm impressed. Luna: Thanks! It's fun to practice like that. Lucas: Now, let's do a quick recap. Repeat after me: el tiovivo. Luna: El tiovivo. Lucas: Dar vueltas. Luna: Dar vueltas. Lucas: Me mareo. Luna: Me mareo. Lucas: Sujétate fuerte. Luna: Sujétate fuerte. Lucas: Es muy rápido. Luna: Es muy rápido. Lucas: Perfect. Now you're ready to talk about the roundabout at the park. Practice these with a friend next time you're out. Luna: And if you want more, come back for the next episode! We'll have another fun park topic. Lucas: This is Lucas and Luna, signing off. Keep practicing, and see you next time on Learn Spanish with Fexingo! Luna: Bye!
