Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville, Jaguar's fans, welcome into Duval.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Daily, presented by Jinjag.com and fuel by Brass Tax Coffee right now.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: We are reacting to your Jacksonville Jaguars getting the job done for the first time in the Liam Cohen era winning in the preseason.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are now one and a no in the preseason.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: They went down.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: 20 to six against the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: They were down two touchdowns at the half.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: They came back to win it 24 to 20 in very, very dramatic fashion.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I had to have a big second half.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: And then last drive of the game, Saints get the ball back after the Jaguars can't run the clock out.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: driving the ball down the field, corner backs are getting beat, getting called for defensive pass in our parents, late in the game, the Saints get the ball down right to the goal line, and the Saints end up spiking it, throw it to the end zone, Jabar Muhahmid who just got pass in our parents, called on him, went and made the game winning pass break up.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: So, it was a nail bider, it was preseason football, yes we know that, but it was the first time anybody got to watch the Jaguars play a real game.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: I guess you could argue real, but a game of football in 2026 for the 2026 preseason.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the first half was absolutely brutal to watch.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there were so many miscues and errors and we're going to dive into all that.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: we will dive deeper into standout performers, the ends and outs of it, all that stuff throughout the next few days before we get ready for the Jaguar is getting back out on the practice field and then obviously hosting the Panthers and having joint practice and all that good stuff.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: But right now it's just the instant reaction and the instant reaction is just what a
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: gut punch, the Jaguar's took, survived it and fought back in a very big way, you know, Grant Yudinsky's opening for a into calling plays, which of course he's not going to be calling plays during the regular season, but he's getting the opportunity to do that during preseason.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's offensive coordinator, it was disastrous early on for both the offense and defense, right?
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: It was really ugly, but
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: They hung in there, they took the punches and they got to halftime.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: made their adjustments, got the job done, and such a big way, which was just fun to see, right?
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Does it really matter that the Jaguars won the game overall?
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, no, it's a preseason game.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars were O2 and 1.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, it looked like for a moment, the Jaguars might end up tying the Saints in preseason for a second straight year, but they were able to get the job done here.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: Going back to the first half, you know, we get all this excitement, but I think you got to talk about this first half where the Jaguars were just getting beat.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: badly.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Mullins, I think, really struggled in this game.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think you look at what he did as the Jaguar's back of quarterback and look, this is a player who, like it or not, the noise has been very loud from the fan base and from some media about Nick Mullins, not being good enough to be the Jaguar's number two quarterback.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: I talked about this being
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: And he did nothing to quiet the noise.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely nothing.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: He was three of seven today for 33 yards, averaged 4.7 yards, and no touchdowns had a really horrible interception.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: In scoring position, that interception came.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: It was a ball that should not have been thrown.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't like it was one on one, and he gave his receiver a shot.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: He was throwing across the middle.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: There was obviously a defender there to snag it.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: That was a horrible interception.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: It really was, you know, three Jack Wars quarterbacks played today.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Mullins looked the worst.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: There's no question about it.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: He did nothing to silence the noise.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: And the fact of the matter is with Nick Mullins, there is a lack of overall physical ability.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's not a big strong athletic quarterback with a big arm.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: He does not have
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: You have him here because you like him in the room.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: He's experienced, you know, the offense, all these things.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: But if you know the offense, it doesn't matter a whole lot if you're still making bonehead of mistakes and you're not able to overcome your physical limitations by being an absolutely assassin mentally.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: So Nick Mullins, the noise is very loud and Carter Bradley played much better than Nick Mullins today.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Joey Aguilar only attempted one pass, but it went for 43 yards, Trevor Payne, but yeah, I mean, Carter Bradley was 10 of 17.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: He had an interception himself, right?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: And, um, not a great play, but,
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: He made a bunch of good plays coming out of the half.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that that first drive of the second half from Carter Bradley and from, you know, really grant you Densky dialing it up.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: There was multiple really strong playfakes where Carter Bradley really sold it.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Multiple strong throws.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: And Jamari Taylor came alive in the second half and really did some strong things as the running back undrafted free agent out of Virginia who long shot to make the roster for sure.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: But a guy who, at the very least, I think the Jaguar would love to keep around on the practice squad.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: And he showed you why today, he was tough, he was physical, he ended up being very decisive.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: And all this, like Jaguar is making the comeback, Carter Bradley playing well in the second half, Jamari Taylor playing well in the second half, all that despite the offensive line, I mean, the Jaguar offensive line was not good today.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Not only were they just really inconsistent
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: and look, they have a lot of injuries.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Chuma Doga went down early in the game, which is a huge story to monitor, just because they already are down as of right now, Cole Van Lannon, Walker Little isn't practicing, patch of McCarrey's not doing team, so that's three or your top six.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: And then Chuma Doga goes down, don't know exactly what's gonna happen there, but yeah, that ain't great.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguar's offensive line really struggled against the Saints defensive front.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: They struggled with pre-snap penalties.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: Now some of these guys struggling haven't been here for more than a week and have a couple weeks But it is what it is this is what happens when there's injuries and a lot of injuries at a certain spot Which obviously the offensive line Yeah, it was not pretty too many pre-snap penalties fall starts all that stuff Up front on the offensive line and I
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that, you know, it was surprising that the special teams coverage, you know, kick-offs was so poor.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: First kick-off of the game, Jack's kicking off to the Saints, and they were turning on all the way, but for Jalen Husky coming in and making a huge hustle tackle.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, I thought the cornerbacks for the Jacks were really inconsistent.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think that's putting it politely.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Muhammad went and made the game-winning play.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: He made some plays.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's a martial-nades in place.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: But a lot more, I mean, the Saints were just too effective through the air, in my opinion, for most of this game, especially Zach Wilson and Spencer Rattler way too effective.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: And those are experienced quarterbacks in this league, right?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: the you know Saints receivers were just beaten up on the jacks a good bit like
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Bubmines, Barion Brown, Trey Palmer, even Kevin Austin did a little bit, which former Jacksonville Jaguar.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: It was a bloodbath at times on the outside, specifically.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: I thought the lime backers and coverage did pretty good.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: I thought the safety's overall did pretty good in coverage.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: I thought the Jaguar's defensive line did a lot of good things.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: But for me, the two weakest areas that I saw outside of the special teams coverage was offensive line and corner back.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: You're starting quarterback in this game, Nick Mullins.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: I do think Carter Bradley was very impressive and again Joey Agalar one throw one completion 43 yards didn't get in until the very end there How did they overcome like really how did they overcome the deficit?
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: They just stuck with it.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: And again, some of the guys we just talked about really played well, and I think the defensive line played well.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars they were one and a half point road underdogs in this preseason game.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: I took the Jaguars in this one over at my bookie, hopefully you did too.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: The second half herox absolutely sealed the deal, and you can find all the action you want whenever you want at the start of the kickoff before the game, wherever.

- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Get in on all the NFL action over at my bookie anytime, anywhere code Duval all caps DUVAL.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: It was just so difficult to watch the first half, because again, you're like beating yourself.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: Mental mistakes, presnap penalties, busted coverage is busted assignments.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Just offensive line play, looking at Trosh, as cornerbacks not being able to keep up with receivers.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: It was like if it could go wrong, it did go wrong in the first half, but they went in.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like Grant Yedensky calmed it down a ton on the offense.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: They got the running game going in the second half.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: Jemari Taylor finished 22 carry 78 yards.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: He was much more effective than that in the second half.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: And they ran the ball on multiple drives.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: They threw the ball better on multiple drives.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Trevor Payneah obviously has to catch the touchdown pass from Carter Bradley.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: That was an absolute dot into the end zone.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Payneah dropped the football.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: It is what it is, but he had a good game outside of that.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I liked that he bounced back, you know, that's kind of the theme of this game for a lot of players.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: You have him a stake, you mess up, you bounced back.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Pena, he called a 43-yard bomb after dropping that touchdown, right?
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Jabarmu Hamid, as I mentioned, he gave up a fair amount in coverage today, he missed tackle, comes back, keeps fighting, keeps fighting, keeps fighting, and then makes the game winning passbreak up in the end zone.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Carter Bradley, another one, throws an interception, keeps fighting, keeps playing well.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I thought that that was really, really encouraging.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: Taylor stood out.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguar's defensive front was excellent.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely excellent.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: Whether it be, I think BJ Green was one of the catalysts, and again, we'll do stand out performance.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: We will go back and dive into the tape and really get to the bottom of everything.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: But, BJ Green, I thought, really stood out among the guys that were playing earlier on in the game.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Danny Sturgo doing his job getting in on some of the action.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Wesley Williams was making plays, Rooka or Aurora.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, third and one, Saints up there running the football, Rook just darts through the offensive line to make a huge play.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: Getting stronger helps finish it off.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think between, you know, Branson Colmes and Ventral Miller, both of those guys did a good job competing for that starting line backer spot.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I've said I think it's going to be a little bit of a, a, a situational based deployment for those two guys, but still they're both both fighting for it.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Brian Thomas Jr., not that Brian Thomas Jr., the rookie Brian Thomas Jr. Eddresher, number 57, Brian with a Y.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: He went and he, he made some plays in the backfield too.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: Danny Stregard, Rucororo, both combined for a sack on a play in which BJ Green made the play.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: I thought you see Rob Doola going and getting a quick pressure on Spencer Rattler.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: Either he or Wesley Williams popped the ball out.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: BJ Green's there to jump on it.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: That was huge.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Really cool stuff there from some of those guys up front with the jack wars.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: Albert Regis, been a little quiet, you know, so far in training camp.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: How about him going and getting his first sack of his preseason?
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: So that was really cool for him.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's third round pick defensive tackle to go get a pretty big sack.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: Just fighting through the adversity in this football game.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what it's all about for the Jaguars.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's going to be the message.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: Fighting through adversity, taking that big punch early on, responding to it, and winning a football game.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they only ended up with eight penalties, but it did feel like a lot of those were early.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of those were pre-snap offensive stuff going on.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe some holding when you're at a position.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: The Jagged Need to get healthy on the offensive line.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: They do.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: Would that have mattered all that much in this game?
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not because you weren't playing your starters anyways, but That's one thing people are going to continue to focus on.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think that and the Nick Mullins situation is is something you're going to be hearing a ton about this week from fans from media Concorded Bradley potentially
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: overtake Nick Mullins is the Jaguar's backup.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying you can make that stance off of one preseason game, but there's no question, you know, Gus Bradley's son, former Jacksonville Jaguar's head coach, Tennessee Titans current defensive coordinator, Carter Bradley has more arm talent and athleticism and playmaking ability than Nick Mullins does.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's very clear and obvious.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: The question is, does he have mentally enough, and I'm not saying he's not a smart guy, but he's just less experienced to overtake Nick Mullins, to give the Jaguars a better chance to win football games if you're potentially,
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: playing without Trevor at some point, which you never want to think about, but that's where we're at.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: I do think a lot of Cudos go to a lot of players, specifically the defensive front.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think the spine of the defense was good, safety, linebacker, back up quarterbacks.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: I was impressed with, but definitely some things to clean up.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: The jags are going to be happy about it though.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to complain about that to anyone, because
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: They completed a huge comeback, and they held the Saints off at the very end.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: So congratulations to them going and getting a victory.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: 1-0, going to get back to it tomorrow morning.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: I will be getting into that tape, and obviously trying to do my best to get something out early for y'all tomorrow, but yeah, I really appreciate y'all tuning in and supporting the channel.
