Roy L Hales/ Cortes Currents - Chris Hatch, who writes the column Zero Carbon for Canada's National Observer, lives here on Cortes Island. He is periodical's former executive editor, has been a key figure in the environmental community for decades, and is the former Executive Director of Rainforest Action Network.
