- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Telugu with Fexingo! I'm Lucas, and as always, Luna is here to learn with us. Luna: Hey everyone! I'm so ready for more Telugu. Last time we learned how to ask for medicine. Today I want to talk about a specific problem — coughing. Lucas: Great idea. Coughing is something we all deal with. So the key phrase is 'I have a cough.' In Telugu: నాకు దగ్గు వచ్చింది. Luna: నాకు దగ్గు వచ్చింది. Could you break that down a bit? Lucas: Sure. నాకు means 'to me,' దగ్గు means 'cough,' and వచ్చింది means 'came' or 'has.' So literally 'to me cough has come.' Let's say it slowly: నాకు దగ్గు వచ్చింది. Luna: నాకు దగ్గు వచ్చింది. నాకు దగ్గు వచ్చింది. Lucas: Perfect! Now, what if you want to ask 'Do you have cough syrup?' at a pharmacy? You can say: మీ దగ్గర దగ్గు మందు ఉందా? Luna: మీ దగ్గర... that's new. What does దగ్గర mean? Lucas: దగ్గర means 'near' or 'by.' So మీ దగ్గర means 'near you' or 'with you.' మందు is medicine. ఉందా means 'is there?' So: మీ దగ్గర దగ్గు మందు ఉందా? Luna: మీ దగ్గర దగ్గు మందు ఉందా? That's a mouthful. Let me try: మీ దగ్గర దగ్గు మందు ఉందా? Lucas: Excellent! And if the doctor gives you medicine, they might say: ఈ మందు రోజుకు మూడు సార్లు తీసుకోండి — 'Take this medicine three times a day.' Luna: ఈ మందు రోజుకు మూడు సార్లు తీసుకోండి. Wow, that's a long one. రోజుకు means 'per day', మూడు సార్లు 'three times', తీసుకోండి 'take'. Lucas: You've got it! నాకు దగ్గు వచ్చింది — I have a cough. మీ దగ్గర దగ్గు మందు ఉందా? — Do you have cough syrup? And ఈ మందు రోజుకు మూడు సార్లు తీసుకోండి — Take this medicine three times a day. Luna: Okay, let me practice a little scene. So I walk into a pharmacy and say: నాకు దగ్గు వచ్చింది. మీ దగ్గర దగ్గు మందు ఉందా? And the pharmacist says: ఈ మందు రోజుకు మూడు సార్లు తీసుకోండి. That feels so real! Lucas: You've got the whole conversation down. Lucas: And ఈ మందు రోజుకు మూడు సార్లు తీసుకోండి — Take this medicine three times a day. Luna: ఈ మందు రోజుకు మూడు సార్లు తీసుకోండి. I think I've got it! Lucas: You're doing great.
