- 0:21Speaker 1: This is very exciting joining us now, actor, producer, rap
- 0:25Speaker 1: star entertainer Ice Cube, who was co founder and CEO
- 0:29Speaker 1: of the Big Three, the premier global professional three on
- 0:32Speaker 1: three basketball league that heads to Miami for Week three
- 0:36Speaker 1: of its ninth season this Sunday, July fifth, at airmant
- 0:40Speaker 1: Bank Arena at one pm Eastern.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I was close. No is it amran Amran? Okay?
- 0:45Speaker 3: The Panthers play there. They've won Tuesdayley Cups. We should
- 0:47Speaker 3: probably know how to say that place.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I just called the arena. Tickets are just thirty six dollars,
- 0:52Speaker 1: just thirty six bucks. Visit Big three dot com the
- 0:54Speaker 1: purchase tickets or tune in live on Sunday.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Ice Cube, thank you for joining us the Big Three.
- 1:01Speaker 1: If I told you that you'd be in your ninth
- 1:04Speaker 1: season when you first got started, you would have told
- 1:06Speaker 1: me what you expected this, right.
- 1:10Speaker 4: I mean I was hoping and wishing and praying for it,
- 1:13Speaker 4: like you know, starting this, we saw you know the
- 1:18Speaker 4: long haul. You know, we still have a global plan
- 1:21Speaker 4: for this league. So I wanted to last one hundred
- 1:26Speaker 4: years like the NFL. The NBA is almost there, so
- 1:32Speaker 4: you know, I want the Big Three to be something
- 1:35Speaker 4: people look forward to in the summer. I want to
- 1:39Speaker 4: play more games, you know, and kind of stretch out
- 1:42Speaker 4: our footprint a little more during the week. I want
- 1:47Speaker 4: to have Big three leagues all over the Earth, and.
- 1:52Speaker 5: I want to do a Big Cup.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Like they got the World Cup one day so with
- 1:58Speaker 4: three on three basketball though, so uh, we got big dreams.
- 2:03Speaker 5: So we happy to still be here after the ninth year,
- 2:05Speaker 5: for sure.
- 2:05Speaker 3: So many possibilities with AIG A Big Cup, like imagine
- 2:09Speaker 3: the trophy amazing.
- 2:10Speaker 1: A Big three World Cup style would be awesome, ice Cube,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I mean that would.
- 2:13Speaker 5: Be great, incredible.
- 2:16Speaker 4: You know, we saw it in the Olympics, you know
- 2:18Speaker 4: that they do to you know, three on three, but
- 2:20Speaker 4: it's still that feba kind of amateur backyard field, right.
- 2:25Speaker 4: We want to elevate it to the pro level, you
- 2:29Speaker 4: know what the Big Three is doing. So we've been
- 2:32Speaker 4: in talk with the East Asian Super League about you know,
- 2:38Speaker 4: having a Big three Asia. We've been talking to the
- 2:42Speaker 4: to the NBA and Australia about a Big three Australia. Uh,
- 2:47Speaker 4: you know, South America and and uh UAE and all
- 2:51Speaker 4: that good stuff. So you know, we have the vision
- 2:55Speaker 4: for sure.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Cube.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I've caught plenty of Big Three over the years, and
- 2:59Speaker 3: I love, especially a little bit of the physical nature
- 3:02Speaker 3: that you don't get like you mentioned in Foeba or whatever.
- 3:05Speaker 3: You had an incident in Week one with Michael Beasley,
- 3:07Speaker 3: Land Stevenson, Dwight Howard. Personally, I like that stuff like
- 3:11Speaker 3: if you're if you're gonna get a little physical, if
- 3:13Speaker 3: you're gonna get each other's faces, go ahead and do it.
- 3:15Speaker 3: But I'm curious what you expect, Like there's got to
- 3:18Speaker 3: be a line you still have to walk as a league.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Where do you see in terms of like physicality and
- 3:23Speaker 3: that stuff that happened that resulted in a couple of
- 3:24Speaker 3: suspensions and it being part of the league and part
- 3:27Speaker 3: of something you just enjoy, And where is there like
- 3:29Speaker 3: a line that it's like, okay, maybe maybe we can
- 3:31Speaker 3: cut that part out.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Of the league. It's definitely a line. You know.
- 3:34Speaker 4: We all like physical play. We all like guys you know,
- 3:38Speaker 4: with passion, guys that's really challenging each other on the
- 3:45Speaker 4: on the court. But we don't want prison ball. We
- 3:48Speaker 4: don't we don't want fighting, you know what I mean,
- 3:51Speaker 4: We don't want none of all because it just gets ugly.
- 3:55Speaker 4: It's not basketball no more. It turns into something else,
- 3:58Speaker 4: and we just want a good get. We want people
- 4:01Speaker 4: to care about the game. We don't want to see
- 4:03Speaker 4: robots play, so a little trash talking never hurt nobody.
- 4:08Speaker 4: But you know there's a line across, I mean the
- 4:11Speaker 4: line that stay behind even with that, So we just
- 4:16Speaker 4: want a game that's aesthetically pleasing to the fans. Because
- 4:20Speaker 4: there's so many complaints about the NBA game and the
- 4:25Speaker 4: Big Three, we don't have those complaints.
- 4:27Speaker 5: You know, they play defense.
- 4:29Speaker 4: You know, our seven footers can play with their back
- 4:31Speaker 4: to the basket like you know, we've grown to know
- 4:35Speaker 4: them to play and you know, it's it's a cool
- 4:39Speaker 4: it's a cool game as long as it doesn't get
- 4:42Speaker 4: out of hand.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Cude.
- 4:44Speaker 6: When I think of the Raiders, I think you but
- 4:46Speaker 6: your son, Osha Jackson Junior is a RAMS fan. Is
- 4:50Speaker 6: there a feeling of betrayal?
- 4:51Speaker 2: There?
- 4:55Speaker 4: Slightly? But you know, we in Los Angeles. All my
- 5:00Speaker 4: family are Homers, so they like Raiders should have came
- 5:05Speaker 4: to LA and would have been straight, but they didn't come.
- 5:08Speaker 4: I'm going for the l A team. You know, the
- 5:11Speaker 4: Rams is my side piece anyway.
- 5:14Speaker 2: So that's a pretty good side piece.
- 5:17Speaker 4: My side piece, and so, uh, I don't mind. You know,
- 5:22Speaker 4: it's cool, and they're paying him good money. You know,
- 5:25Speaker 4: I've been the president of the Raider Nation for about
- 5:29Speaker 4: two decades. I haven't got one check. But that's fine.
- 5:33Speaker 4: You know, he's managed to do better than me in
- 5:37Speaker 4: a couple of years, so you know, maybe he could
- 5:40Speaker 4: teach me a thing or two.
- 5:42Speaker 3: So as a spokesman for LA Sports, then the Lakers,
- 5:45Speaker 3: some people call them the snow time Lakers. Now they're
- 5:47Speaker 3: getting a little white. I just wondering what you think
- 5:51Speaker 3: about Lebron not coming back in the move that they're
- 5:53Speaker 3: making around Luca.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Oh, we'll see. You know, I'm a fan of Bron,
- 6:00Speaker 4: so I always think your team is better with him
- 6:03Speaker 4: on it. We got new owners, you know, the same
- 6:08Speaker 4: guys who are on the Dodgers, who up brought championships
- 6:13Speaker 4: and and World Series to to l A through the Dodgers.
- 6:17Speaker 4: So who am I to say, you know, the snow
- 6:21Speaker 4: Time Lakers won't be, you know, as electrifying as the
- 6:25Speaker 4: Showtime Lakers, you know, So who's to say I'm gonna
- 6:30Speaker 4: just wait and see. I'm not gonna tell these people
- 6:33Speaker 4: they don't know what they're doing, because they obviously do, and.
- 6:39Speaker 5: You know, just enjoy the ride. It's gonna be funny.
- 6:41Speaker 4: I tell you that Los Angeles has a thousand jokes
- 6:47Speaker 4: for the way this.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Team is built up.
- 6:49Speaker 4: So you know, hopefully they prove everybody h shut everybody up,
- 6:54Speaker 4: and and bring some chips back to l A Cube.
- 6:58Speaker 6: If I was a Laker fan when they're when ever
- 7:00Speaker 6: they're putting up that projected starting five graphic, I would
- 7:03Speaker 6: just prefer if they didn't put Jake Lauravia in that graphic,
- 7:05Speaker 6: just put a question mark so we don't know who's
- 7:07Speaker 6: gonna faill that.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I'd rather be a question mark, so would Cube.
- 7:10Speaker 5: I think, right, you know.
- 7:12Speaker 4: It's all good man. Like I said, I'm just sit
- 7:15Speaker 4: back and watch. I have no criticism about what they're
- 7:18Speaker 4: doing right now. But after game one or game two
- 7:23Speaker 4: to game ten, if it ain't working, I'm gonna be
- 7:27Speaker 4: the first one to.
- 7:28Speaker 5: Let him know.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Wait. So, as a Laker fan, are you laughing at
- 7:31Speaker 2: the Celtics right now?
- 7:32Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, I'm happy. You know they got to me,
- 7:37Speaker 4: got worse. I'm never mad at that. As a Laker
- 7:41Speaker 4: fan going and blow the team up, you know, we'll
- 7:45Speaker 4: you know, we'll take a lot of.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Your players, you know what I'm saying, gonna send them around. Youude.
- 7:50Speaker 3: We had a writer on the other day who basically
- 7:52Speaker 3: said that like La never truly embraced Lebron, didn't feel
- 7:56Speaker 3: like he was one of their own because he came,
- 7:58Speaker 3: you know, later in his career. Would you say that
- 8:01Speaker 3: that's the case that he wasn't really embraced there.
- 8:05Speaker 4: I wouldn't say that, you know, I would say, you know,
- 8:08Speaker 4: every player that comes from anywhere. You know, we got
- 8:12Speaker 4: Kareem from Milwaukee. You know, people was talking about him
- 8:16Speaker 4: until Magic came along and they won a championship. So
- 8:20Speaker 4: you know, we had Shaq. You know, people was whispering
- 8:23Speaker 4: about him till he was able to win a championship.
- 8:26Speaker 4: And so same thing happened with Lebron. He was able
- 8:31Speaker 4: to win, you know, a championship. People call it the bubble,
- 8:34Speaker 4: the Mickey Mouse Championship, the No Parade Championship. But it's
- 8:40Speaker 4: still a ring, it's still a banner, and you got
- 8:42Speaker 4: to give him his respect. If you're gonna respect Wilt
- 8:45Speaker 4: Chamberlain for doing it, you gotta respect Lebron James for
- 8:49Speaker 4: doing it.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Speaking of rings, does do all the members of Wu
- 8:53Speaker 1: Tang deserve a Knick Championship ring for you know, salvaging
- 8:56Speaker 1: that series for him, That halftime change everything.
- 9:00Speaker 4: You know, the w will change things for you, you
- 9:03Speaker 4: know what I mean, Like you know what I mean,
- 9:05Speaker 4: like leaving the woo So yeah, you know it was dead.
- 9:11Speaker 4: I was feeling sorry, Like I was like, damn, w
- 9:14Speaker 4: got to perform in front of that. When you're losing
- 9:19Speaker 4: the game, the last thing you care about is a
- 9:22Speaker 4: damn performance. You like, let's get this third quarter going,
- 9:26Speaker 4: Let's get this back cracking man, Let's get back on.
- 9:29Speaker 4: You don't want to see even halftime. You don't even
- 9:31Speaker 4: want halftime to happen. You're like, let's just keep doing
- 9:35Speaker 4: so for them to get the crowd and then for
- 9:38Speaker 4: the team to pull it off. You know they they
- 9:41Speaker 4: definitely was the Magic Cube.
- 9:44Speaker 3: One of the more intriguing basketball players, I would say
- 9:47Speaker 3: in the last twenty five years, even though he didn't
- 9:49Speaker 3: really work out in the NBA. It was Michael Beasley
- 9:51Speaker 3: even today, like I have you know nephew, seventeen eight
- 9:55Speaker 3: year old, eighteen year old, and they love him, like
- 9:56Speaker 3: absolutely love him like he was you know brand new
- 9:59Speaker 3: to the league. He's been an MVP for you for
- 10:01Speaker 3: back to back years. I want to say, in the
- 10:03Speaker 3: Big Three, what is he brought to the league. What
- 10:05Speaker 3: is he as a basketball player? What do you see
- 10:06Speaker 3: in that game?
- 10:08Speaker 4: I mean skill level, a standard of skill level. He's,
- 10:13Speaker 4: like you said, the back to back MVP. He's a champion.
- 10:17Speaker 4: You know, he won the championship last year. The year
- 10:20Speaker 4: before that he went lost by one bucket. So he's
- 10:24Speaker 4: been the standard. You know, before him, it was Joe Johnson,
- 10:28Speaker 4: you know, a three time MVP in the league and
- 10:31Speaker 4: a champion. And so you know, the baton has passed
- 10:35Speaker 4: to Michael Beasley and players know they got to step
- 10:40Speaker 4: up if they want to dethrown them. You know, in
- 10:43Speaker 4: the Big Three, were the only league that requires the
- 10:46Speaker 4: championship team to return, no draft picks, no trades, run
- 10:52Speaker 4: it back. And so they got the same squad they
- 10:56Speaker 4: had before. I think they got an injury though, you
- 11:00Speaker 4: know injury, So they pretty much got the same squad
- 11:05Speaker 4: and it's up to the other teams to knock them off.
- 11:08Speaker 4: And if they don't knock them off, they're going back
- 11:11Speaker 4: to back.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Taylor, I'd like that rule for the NBA, we'd still
- 11:14Speaker 1: have Mitchell Robinson half of that, right, I mean.
- 11:18Speaker 5: Doesn't suck.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Root for a team all the way to the top
- 11:24Speaker 4: and when they get to the top, the organization blew
- 11:27Speaker 4: up the team.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Yes, Stuck. Gott's here.
- 11:30Speaker 1: The biggest stage in world soccer is here, and every

- 12:53Speaker 1: the Big Three?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Has that started yet? Because you're I mean, your ice jep.
- 12:57Speaker 2: He's not gonna say no.
- 12:58Speaker 4: You know that's I mean, you know I'm not gonna
- 13:01Speaker 4: say that, but I'm gonna just say I'm gonna wait
- 13:04Speaker 4: till he's done in the NBA before our approach him.
- 13:08Speaker 4: You know, you don't want to insult anybody in any way,
- 13:11Speaker 4: shape or form, so you want to I want to
- 13:13Speaker 4: make sure he's totally done playing in the NBA.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Twenty years from now.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Twenty years from that, we'll still be here if we
- 13:22Speaker 4: still got.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Go ahead tell it.
- 13:27Speaker 6: Cube. I was born in nineteen ninety four. I've seen
- 13:29Speaker 6: straight out of Compton, but I didn't grow up with
- 13:31Speaker 6: nw A. My introduction to ice Cube was are we
- 13:35Speaker 6: there yet? What's it like? Having multiple generations? Know you
- 13:38Speaker 6: for completely different parts of your career.
- 13:43Speaker 5: It's pretty cool, you know the trajectory.
- 13:46Speaker 4: I started on hardcore solo career, then going into movies,
- 13:54Speaker 4: you know, doing Boys in the Hood and Trespassed and
- 13:58Speaker 4: kind of flipping it a little bit with Friday Barbershop,
- 14:03Speaker 4: and now, you know, are We There Yet? What happened
- 14:08Speaker 4: was the reason I did a movie like are We
- 14:10Speaker 4: There Yet? You know, this hardcore rapper doing this movie
- 14:13Speaker 4: kids movie. I realized that my fans had little kids,
- 14:20Speaker 4: and those little kids were watching Friday.
- 14:23Speaker 5: You know, they come up quoting Friday. You know you
- 14:26Speaker 5: knocked ut, you know what.
- 14:28Speaker 4: I'm like, dude, your little ass shouldn't be watching Friday.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Need the ice cute movie, that's your speed. I was
- 14:39Speaker 5: looking for the right one.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Are We There Yet was actually supposed to be done
- 14:43Speaker 4: by Adam Sandler, but he pulled out and I'm like,
- 14:47Speaker 4: I'll take it, and uh, Taylor made it for me.
- 14:51Speaker 5: And kids love that. They grow. They see it when
- 14:55Speaker 5: they're about seven eight.
- 14:57Speaker 4: By the time they get you know, teen, the eleven, twelve,
- 15:00Speaker 4: they've seen Friday, you know, and they get a little older,
- 15:04Speaker 4: they get my music.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Oh damn, he.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Wraps too is crazy.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Somebody showing him straight out of Compton, and then they
- 15:12Speaker 4: can put the whole Yes career together and it keeps
- 15:16Speaker 4: churning out new fans because the cycle just continues and
- 15:21Speaker 4: continues and continues.
- 15:22Speaker 5: So cool Cube.
- 15:24Speaker 7: Speaking of movies, what can you tell us about twenty
- 15:26Speaker 7: four Jump Street because that got me excited the other
- 15:30Speaker 7: day to see that dudes happened.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Well, we waited so long, we skipped over twenty three
- 15:36Speaker 4: because we're going to twenty four Jump Street and that
- 15:42Speaker 4: she tell you how crazy this damn movie gonna be.
- 15:45Speaker 4: You know, it's like there's no rules and you know,
- 15:51Speaker 4: the guys live across the street from Captain Dixon.
- 15:55Speaker 5: That's all I gotta say.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Wait till all the things on the resume, ceo, mogul,
- 16:04Speaker 1: acting music, any of those more difficult than being a father?
- 16:10Speaker 5: No?
- 16:10Speaker 4: Right, oh, no, you know, being a father is a
- 16:14Speaker 4: twenty four hour, seven day a week. You know, never
- 16:17Speaker 4: get time off a job for the mother, you know,
- 16:22Speaker 4: for the father's you know, every time you show up.
- 16:25Speaker 5: But it's still you know what I'm saying.
- 16:31Speaker 4: So it's definitely heavier than than you know, doing a
- 16:37Speaker 4: record or a movie. A movie is a lot of
- 16:40Speaker 4: sitting around waiting, you know, you and your trailer kind
- 16:44Speaker 4: of going crazy until it's time to act every day,
- 16:47Speaker 4: so and so you know, nothing is as a you know, intricate,
- 16:55Speaker 4: you know, as as raising kids, for sure.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Were you nervous the first time you try to acting
- 17:00Speaker 1: because it's hard, right, I mean, it's difficult.
- 17:05Speaker 5: A little bit, you know.
- 17:06Speaker 4: I just wanted to understand the marks, like hit your mark.
- 17:12Speaker 4: You know, you gotta act, but I look down and
- 17:15Speaker 4: make sure you're in the right spot for the camera.
- 17:19Speaker 4: That was a little getting used to, making sure that
- 17:23Speaker 4: you know you're acting, but making sure you're doing it
- 17:26Speaker 4: in such a deliberate way that the camera can follow
- 17:30Speaker 4: all your movements. Remembering everything you did for every take
- 17:37Speaker 4: so you can do it over and over and over
- 17:40Speaker 4: and over all day, you know, until you get it
- 17:42Speaker 4: from all these different angles.
- 17:44Speaker 5: Was a bit of getting used to. But I was,
- 17:47Speaker 5: I was.
- 17:48Speaker 4: I was comfortable in front of the camera because we
- 17:50Speaker 4: had shot so many videos by then, and I was
- 17:54Speaker 4: comfortable with with John Singleton, who we had become friends
- 17:59Speaker 4: before before we even shot the movie. So you know,
- 18:03Speaker 4: I felt like I was in good hands and if
- 18:05Speaker 4: I was messing up, he definitely tell me to do
- 18:08Speaker 4: it over and do it again. So once he said cut,
- 18:12Speaker 4: you know, I felt like, okay, you know, check the
- 18:16Speaker 4: gate means we're moving on.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Yes, I did a good job.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Is that the worst part doing it over and over again?
- 18:24Speaker 5: Is that?
- 18:25Speaker 2: What was that the worst part? Doing scenes over and
- 18:27Speaker 2: over again?
- 18:29Speaker 4: No, that's actually the best part really, because you get
- 18:34Speaker 4: to learn your lines better, you get to put little
- 18:37Speaker 4: nuances in different performances up, you know, you get that
- 18:42Speaker 4: kind of like it's kind of like getting your your
- 18:46Speaker 4: groove getting warm up shots, you know, and then once
- 18:49Speaker 4: you warm yes, let's play, you know, and so you
- 18:52Speaker 4: can get all your warm up shots. Sometimes you get
- 18:55Speaker 4: a chance to do a lot of your acting before
