- 0:00Speaker 1: Jeff Legwall joins us courtesy of the International Brotherhood of
- 0:04Speaker 1: Electrical Workers ibe W Local sixty eight.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Start with a job and with a career.
- 0:09Speaker 1: A few days later, here, Jeff, do we understand what
- 0:12Speaker 1: Sean was talking about with Ferris Bueller and Bo Nicks?
- 0:16Speaker 3: You know, I don't know. I don't think he means
- 0:18Speaker 3: the uh slacker skipped school parts, but maybe the uh
- 0:23Speaker 3: I do my own thing and I am popular. You know,
- 0:26Speaker 3: I don't know, but uh, he does love his eighties references,
- 0:30Speaker 3: so sometimes you just gotta roll with it.
- 0:35Speaker 4: He when you look at that relationship, are there are
- 0:38Speaker 4: these guys similar at all? Talking about Sean Payton and
- 0:41Speaker 4: Bo Nicks, Well.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I think at this stage of his career, Scottie bow Is,
- 0:46Speaker 3: I mean he has you know, most young quarterbacks like
- 0:50Speaker 3: this are sort of like, you know, there there guided missiles.
- 0:53Speaker 3: You know, they they don't have a whole lot else
- 0:56Speaker 3: going on yet. You know, football is everything, and that's
- 1:00Speaker 3: what Sean Payton wanted in a prospect. It's why he
- 1:04Speaker 3: liked bo Nicks so much before the draft. It's because
- 1:07Speaker 3: of his focus on football. Now, you know, unlike a
- 1:10Speaker 3: lot of the guys on the draft board, this year.
- 1:13Speaker 3: You know, bo Nicks is married and he's a little
- 1:16Speaker 3: older than some guys, so he does have that component.
- 1:20Speaker 3: But I think on a football level, he's very focused
- 1:24Speaker 3: and singular in that you know, this is it right now,
- 1:29Speaker 3: and frankly, that's what Sean Payton wanted to hear from
- 1:34Speaker 3: all of the prospects the Broncos interviewed at the position.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Jeff, I'm sure you've had a chance to go back
- 1:40Speaker 5: and watch the game again. I'm just curious your thoughts
- 1:43Speaker 5: on bo Nicks's performance. Did you think that the second
- 1:47Speaker 5: half in particular was as good as a lot of
- 1:50Speaker 5: people made it out to be.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Well, I mean, sil of the field position was great,
- 1:55Speaker 3: so that's always a great start for a quarterback. I mean,
- 1:58Speaker 3: I think the drive start to the second half, either
- 2:01Speaker 3: because of turnovers or a punt return or whatever you pick,
- 2:05Speaker 3: was spectacular. So, uh, that's gonna put a little more
- 2:09Speaker 3: on the table for the offense. And you know he
- 2:13Speaker 3: did avoid the turnovers and and you know that's always huge.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I'm still a little uncomfortable with his footwork. I think
- 2:21Speaker 3: it's inconsistent. I think there's a lot of fadeaway jumpers
- 2:24Speaker 3: in there. As it were, and until he does a
- 2:29Speaker 3: little more with that, I think it's going to be
- 2:30Speaker 3: hard for him to be consistent all the time.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Those are down the field. Hey, we we about wrote
- 2:36Speaker 4: and I think Sean Payton about wrote Williams off as
- 2:39Speaker 4: a starting running back. You get a bit of bad injury,
- 2:43Speaker 4: and since he's come back in the second half of
- 2:45Speaker 4: that game, he almost looks like a different player.
- 2:47Speaker 2: What impact does he.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Had it scut I think they've been better about picking
- 2:52Speaker 3: things out. He does well too, you know, a little
- 2:54Speaker 3: more of the inside tossed from time to time, a
- 2:58Speaker 3: little more inside zone, you know, some the old school,
- 3:01Speaker 3: you know duo, you know, double teams on either side,
- 3:05Speaker 3: that he can pick a pick a lane. I think
- 3:09Speaker 3: he's done better with those things, and I think they've
- 3:11Speaker 3: they've done better, you know, sort of putting that on
- 3:15Speaker 3: the uh on his on his docket. You know. I
- 3:18Speaker 3: think they were asking all of the running backs to
- 3:21Speaker 3: do all these different things early in the season, and
- 3:25Speaker 3: I just don't know that they're proficient in all of
- 3:27Speaker 3: those things. So I think when they stay focused in
- 3:29Speaker 3: a running game and hang in there with it a
- 3:31Speaker 3: little bit, they have seen some results. And he he's
- 3:35Speaker 3: been more decisive too. I think they had discussions with
- 3:39Speaker 3: them early in the season, like, look, you know, you
- 3:41Speaker 3: need to get up in there and make it happen.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Not not so much you know, hunt around for the
- 3:48Speaker 3: for the big play all the time. Just just smack
- 3:51Speaker 3: it in there and see, you know, and see what happens.
- 3:54Speaker 3: And then you know, as you could see this past week,
- 3:57Speaker 3: they had some nice big runs through the through the
- 4:00Speaker 3: middle of the line of scrimmage.
- 4:02Speaker 5: All of a sudden, we're starting to get banged up
- 4:03Speaker 5: here a little bit on the offensive line. Mike mcglinchy's
- 4:06Speaker 5: been out, Alex Polchaski's been filling in. Alex ends up
- 4:09Speaker 5: getting hurt in that game at one point, Garrett Bulls
- 4:12Speaker 5: goes down. You got Frank Crumb in there, You've got
- 4:14Speaker 5: Matt Pert in there. What can you tell us about
- 4:17Speaker 5: the injuries on the O line with Alex Poulchawski and
- 4:21Speaker 5: any updates on on Mike mcglinchy's situation.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yeah, Tyler, you know, he can come back next week,
- 4:27Speaker 3: I think at the earliest, but my sense is it
- 4:31Speaker 3: may be a smidge longer unless we see something different here,
- 4:35Speaker 3: you know, next week, and how they practice. I would
- 4:38Speaker 3: think they're plan right now is you know, some kind
- 4:40Speaker 3: of pert crumb combination at right tackle or pert you know,
- 4:46Speaker 3: to go early. But I think they'll work both guys
- 4:49Speaker 3: with the starting offense this week, just in case to
- 4:53Speaker 3: make sure they're covered. But I don't think either of
- 4:56Speaker 3: the two guys that were injured last week will have
- 4:59Speaker 3: you know, we'll be going this week.
- 5:01Speaker 4: We do a premise out just we'll go on the
- 5:03Speaker 4: show and listen. This is all projections. And I know
- 5:06Speaker 4: you you're you know, being a suburban suburbian kid from Milwaukee. Uh,
- 5:11Speaker 4: you're a fact based kind of guy. That being said,
- 5:16Speaker 4: this team finds itself at six and two, right before
- 5:19Speaker 4: the trade deadline.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Are they buyers?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yeah? I don't know that they have you know, sort
- 5:24Speaker 3: of a calf wherewithal to be too much of a buyer.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I mean, they've done a lot of damage to the
- 5:31Speaker 3: cap on their own volition here in the last couple offseasons,
- 5:36Speaker 3: so they would have to make some other adjustments to
- 5:39Speaker 3: get too involved. Now. You know, the one thing that
- 5:42Speaker 3: helps is you're you're only pro rating half a season
- 5:45Speaker 3: of a guy's salary. But if it is you know,
- 5:48Speaker 3: a high salaried impact player, Uh, they would probably need
- 5:52Speaker 3: the other team to pick up some of that salary.
- 5:56Speaker 3: And like you know, for example, the Raiders are telling
- 5:59Speaker 3: teams all over the league that they don't intend to
- 6:02Speaker 3: pick up any of Davante Adams's salary in any trade.
- 6:06Speaker 3: You know, we'll see if they changed their minds about that.
- 6:08Speaker 3: But that's kind of where that's kind of the robe
- 6:11Speaker 3: when you try to make a trade for an impact
- 6:13Speaker 3: guy near the deadline.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Way, where is Davis as far as an owner in
- 6:17Speaker 4: this league if you raided him one through thirty.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Two, Well, you know, I know a lot of owners
- 6:25Speaker 3: would give him a lot of credit for getting a
- 6:27Speaker 3: Vegas thing done. You know, he has a palace of
- 6:30Speaker 3: a team facility at almost no expense to him, and
- 6:35Speaker 3: in the stadium there and all of that, so he
- 6:38Speaker 3: would get high grades for that. But by the same token,
- 6:41Speaker 3: there's a plenty of people in the league who are
- 6:44Speaker 3: mad he did Vegas sort of without anybody's blessing from
- 6:48Speaker 3: the NFL. So it's always a mixed bag with them.
- 6:52Speaker 3: And you know, you've got a lot of owners still
- 6:54Speaker 3: around to have long memories who remember his dad Sue
- 6:58Speaker 3: in the league so often it's probably A. It's probably
- 7:02Speaker 3: a split depending on how young they are and who
- 7:04Speaker 3: you talk to.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I know, uh, the do media here?
- 7:07Speaker 1: And just where do you stand with the locker room stuff, Jeff,
- 7:10Speaker 1: where does that sit for you?
- 7:14Speaker 3: Well, there's no there's no new media policy and there's
- 7:17Speaker 3: no change and uh, as we we on the pfw
- 7:22Speaker 3: A board explain to the union in the summer, the
- 7:26Speaker 3: provision they're making such a big deal about has been
- 7:29Speaker 3: in the media policy for decades. So I am not
- 7:33Speaker 3: certain why they are so upset now about this, but
- 7:35Speaker 3: it's always been there and they could have used it
- 7:39Speaker 3: in two thousand and two, that that long ago.
- 7:43Speaker 1: What do you mean by that? The option to just
- 7:45Speaker 1: go outside not have cameras in there?
- 7:48Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 7:48Speaker 5: You know?
- 7:48Speaker 3: The only uh, you know, the only thing in the
- 7:51Speaker 3: policy is the request has to be made in person
- 7:54Speaker 3: to the reporter in the locker room. That's it.
- 7:57Speaker 2: So they could have thrown the cameras out as as
- 8:00Speaker 2: latest two times has.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Nothing to do with that's a team by team saying
- 8:05Speaker 3: that's not covered in the media policy because he that's
- 8:09Speaker 3: a little of the change in times. But the organization
- 8:14Speaker 3: who oversees the policy is the Pro Football Writers of
- 8:17Speaker 3: America and long ago that that did not include members
- 8:22Speaker 3: who were on television. So, but cameras in the locker
- 8:25Speaker 3: room are a team by team decision. There's already teams
- 8:28Speaker 3: in the league who've not had cameras in the during
- 8:31Speaker 3: the week, post game, that's they're in the locker room.
- 8:35Speaker 3: But during the week, there's been several teams for many
- 8:37Speaker 3: years who have not had that.
- 8:39Speaker 4: But now you've got so many muggles that have their
- 8:40Speaker 4: own cell phone. I mean, you've got a thousand people.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Are different think they're TV guys, right, Yeah, it's very different.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's very different now. But again it's uh,
- 8:52Speaker 3: you know, a lot of it's been this cast. There's
- 8:53Speaker 3: no new media policy and this is not a new
- 8:56Speaker 3: thing they're asking for.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Okay, all right, all right, like anything else we should know?
- 9:00Speaker 1: Any other news from today so far?
- 9:04Speaker 3: You know, still under construction, I guess.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Okay, By the way, how about an update on construction.
- 9:11Speaker 1: What's going on over there? How's the flintstone rattle pit
- 9:14Speaker 1: by the field house. What's that looking like these days?
- 9:17Speaker 5: Well?
- 9:17Speaker 3: I can report, you know, I could your morning updates
- 9:21Speaker 3: construction activity near the media room. Today was jackhammer day.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I can.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Arnie, it's driving crazy. Then hey, listen, have they started
- 9:34Speaker 4: have they started laying conduit in any of the trenches
- 9:36Speaker 4: for the lectures?
- 9:38Speaker 2: Look at you.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I've not gone out there and done any count but
- 9:41Speaker 3: you know I have run a jackhammer in my day,
- 9:43Speaker 3: so I'm just saying I can get out there too.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Typing thing doesn't work out.
- 9:48Speaker 2: All right, Jeff, we appreciate it. Thank you. We'll catch
- 9:51Speaker 2: up with you later. Thanks Jeff, have a great time.
