Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen, we're back together on this Thursday morning.
- 0:04Speaker 1: So I'm flying back. It's Tuesday. I'm on the plane.
- 0:07Speaker 1: The only thing I have is messaging. I can get
- 0:09Speaker 1: text messages, but I couldn't post on the Internet or anything.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And the news came out about Dolly Parton. I heard
- 0:15Speaker 1: about it on the flight from Japan to Newark.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I know. We were reaching out to you, producer Kristen
- 0:21Speaker 2: and I. We always do a group chat. Yeah. Yeah.
- 0:23Speaker 2: We didn't know we could reach you, but we did.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Right.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Unfortunately, with sad news, right?
- 0:28Speaker 1: Yeah. And the sad news kept coming yesterday.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Tim Curry.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I know.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Which it really hit, I mean, look, it hit a
- 0:35Speaker 1: lot of us.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:36Speaker 1: But producer Kristen- might have been his number one fan.
- 0:39Speaker 2: For so many people. I mean, you know, starting with
- 0:42Speaker 2: the Rocky Horror Picture Show, of course.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Which is just iconic.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And I heard Kristen even told me he was a
- 0:47Speaker 1: super nice guy. I mean, just a really cool guy. Yeah.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah, she's met him several times. We'll speak for Kristen,
- 0:54Speaker 2: who's right here. And said that even though, you know,
- 0:58Speaker 2: he's been through a lot with his health. He had
- 1:01Speaker 2: a stroke in 2012. He was in a wheelchair. She
- 1:04Speaker 2: said he's still so gracious and kind. And he was working.
- 1:09Speaker 2: He's doing voiceover work. He's in a film that Kristen
- 1:12Speaker 2: knows about that we'll share with you when we can,
- 1:15Speaker 2: when we have more details. But Cubby, also another person
- 1:19Speaker 2: has passed. And we have to go back a little
- 1:21Speaker 2: bit further, I think, for some of us. Do you
- 1:24Speaker 2: remember The Gong Show?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 1:26Speaker 2: You do?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Chuck Beres was your host.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a big show in the 70s and
- 1:31Speaker 2: into the 80s, I think.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It was kind of like America's Got Talent for the 70s.
- 1:35Speaker 2: You're right.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Because they had to perform.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Come out, do your thing.
- 1:38Speaker 1: If you got the gong, you're done.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yes. So there's three celebrities sitting there that you have
- 1:43Speaker 2: to impress. And if one of them gongs you, then bye-bye. Well, J.P. Morgan,
- 1:48Speaker 2: who was one of the celebs on the gong show,
- 1:51Speaker 2: I think maybe middle chair. I'm trying to remember. She
- 1:54Speaker 2: has passed away at the age of 94. Oh, yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I totally remember her. I'm looking at her right now. Yes.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Because I used to think her name was J.P., But
- 2:04Speaker 1: it's J-A-Y-E-P. So if you say it, you think the
- 2:08Speaker 1: letter J-P and that's it. Yeah, like J-P. But it
- 2:10Speaker 1: was J-A-Y-E-P Morgan. And you're right. If you Google her
- 2:14Speaker 1: right now, she was on a bulk of the time
- 2:17Speaker 1: that the gong show was on the air.
- 2:18Speaker 2: She was a big part of it. Reading her career
- 2:20Speaker 2: began in 1953 with the hit song, Life is Just
- 2:23Speaker 2: a Bowl of Cherries.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yeah. If you remember the Gong Show, hit us up
- 2:27Speaker 1: at 44363. That was definitely a great show. Yeah, I'm
- 2:32Speaker 1: so sorry.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Like, entertainment world, you know, these are beloved celebrities that
- 2:36Speaker 2: we've lost.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Artists and good people. Yeah, Frank Beard from ZZ Top
- 2:41Speaker 1: recently passed away. Yes, the drummer. So, again, not trying
- 2:44Speaker 1: to be a downer here, but it is news.
- 2:46Speaker 2: There's just been a lot. It feels like there's been
- 2:49Speaker 2: a lot.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. And by the way, again, I want
- 2:51Speaker 1: to mention the text because we haven't really talked to
- 2:53Speaker 1: anybody in a while. Or maybe you have when I
- 2:55Speaker 1: was on vacation. But I want to know what's going
- 2:57Speaker 1: on in the world. Are our teachers back? What's the deal?
- 3:01Speaker 2: 44363.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Hit us up on text. Would love to know if
- 3:05Speaker 1: you're back in your routine.
