- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome out to the studio.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Today we're going to be talking about a false concept called ready.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: What if the belief that you have to be ready before you start, what if we found out that that was actually just a disguise, a very well orchestrated disguise for our fear?
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Today, we're going to destroy that concept so that each of us can move forward.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Ready is actually not really a thing.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: It's more of a feeling.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to give you an example of fighters that are preparing for the battle of their lives.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: This is the thriller in Manila.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: This is the biggest fight.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: This is the one we've been waiting for.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: And then just as the fighters are in the back, then you hear one of the uh uh uh teammates that's been sparring and working out, he says to the fighter, Are you ready?
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: I would submit that that statement is not a real statement, but simply a rhetorical question, not meant to be answered.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: The concept of ready is simply that, a concept.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: You are never ready.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Actually, it's it's the uh commentators that will discuss the fight after the fight that will actually determine whether or not the fighter was ready.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Readiness is almost a hindsight observation and not what we've been led to believe is something that we must be before we begin.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: So let me ask you this question: how many things in life have you postponed because you were um waiting to get ready?
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Getting ready is going to be the thing that keeps us from advancing, the thing that prevents us from moving into our destiny.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: In reality, we have no time to waste because there's only so much sand in each of our hourglasses.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: And so what ends up happening, it's stamina and determination that causes a person to win, and it is not the concept of being ready and waiting.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: So, what if the feeling of ready that we've been waiting for?
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: What if it never came?
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: What if we never decided to move?
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Well, here's the lie that we've all been told, and it's it's it's repeated consistently.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Um basically, make sure that you're ready and then take action.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Make sure that you're ready and then take action.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Well, if ready is simply a false flag, a construct that was created by someone who themselves may have been a little nervous about something or uncertain, they ask that question.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Hmm, what happens if our waiting to get ready actually keeps us from ever making the decision to get started?
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: And who said that readiness is a prerequisite for progress?
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: What if we found out that ready is actually a byproduct of action?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: That's an interesting thought.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: See, the fact of the matter is everyone that embarks and begins does not succeed.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: As a father talking to sons and daughters, I say you have to realize that there is going to be failure in life, but it all of it is progress.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: If we learn from our failure, then we did not actually fail, we actually learned.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: All we need to do is look at the words a little differently.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: If we wait until we feel confident before we work, when will the work actually begin?
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: If we wait to feel certain before we actually commit, when will we actually commit?
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: And if we wait to get started until we're actually ready, that's not going to work out well.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: As a matter of fact, life does not reward waiting.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Life actually rewards activity, action, and decision.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: So it, for lack of a better word, it responds to movement.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Life rewards movement.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Life does not reward waiting.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: If we look at all of the battles that we've studied throughout world history, all of the um uh episodes of war, we don't reward the uh uh the victor based on them not taking action.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: We reward the ones that took action.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: And if the action had the desired outcome, then they obviously are the hero.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Now, here's the truth that no one uh took time to tell us.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: And as a father, this is a thing that is very important for all of us.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Um, the bottom line is work creates clarity.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: So the uncertainty that people typically have before they begin to take action because of the concept called getting ready.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Actually, clarity comes by taking action.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Action actually builds confidence, and confidence produces more activity, and the decision to start actually creates the readiness.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: In essence, you don't get ready and then you go to work.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: You actually go to work, and readiness is evident.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: So just like with the fighter in the ring, when the fight is over, the uh the the commentators say, Man, he really wasn't ready.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: That fight was whoa, that was some fight.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: But if he wins, they say, Man, that guy was ready.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: You could see it, every blow landed with precision.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: In reality, the concept of ready is a hindsight reflection or an in-the-moment judgment of what others believe they are looking at.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: But it's not something that we're supposed to live by.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: As a matter of fact, throughout the Bible, there is a word um uh go.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: The word go, go, is actually mentioned over 366 times, approximately 366, which basically would tell me even in a leap year, we need to get started, we need to go.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: But what's interesting is very rarely, I haven't even seen it, where it says in the Bible, get ready.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Get ready, that phrase get ready, doesn't really appear.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: And do your own research, take a look at it, and see how many times did you actually see the word, the phrase, get ready.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: So all of us that are getting ready are oftentimes missing the activity that's going to create the momentum that's going to create the success because we're not ready.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Well, in the Bible, since we mentioned it, in the book of Ecclesiastes, in Ecclesiastes, it says, whatever your hand finds, do with all of your might.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: It basically doesn't say, get ready, make sure that you're ready, and when you feel ready, go.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: No, it says, when it's in front of you, when you find it to do, go with all of your might.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: And what's interesting about it, I believe we can learn a lot from just that one scripture alone.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: So here's the decision that we need to make.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: Will fear be the determining factor of when we start, or will we allow confidence and responsibility and decisiveness to be the starting point, the igniter of our activity?
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Because if we wait for ready to choose when we begin, then life will actually choose for us.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: The interesting thing is we actually have no time to waste.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Now, what's our takeaway from this concept?
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: Bottom line, this week, choose one thing that you've been waiting to start.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Just one thing.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Not something that that we not a resolution or anything like that, just something that you've wanted to start.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: It could be a project, it could be a task, it could be um cleaning an area, uh, it could be moving things from one place to another, changing your workspace, changing the environment, something that you've been waiting for because you wanted to get ready.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: What I'm going to ask you to do is find the one thing that you've been postponing.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's writing, maybe it's starting a new book, maybe it's starting a new action plan.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Well, I want you to name the one thing, not because you can't do it, but I want you to name it because up until this point you didn't feel ready.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: And I want you to start it this week.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Not confidently so sure of yourself, not feeling like failure could never ever happen, but I want you to start faithfully because ready is is is not built by waiting.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Ready is made by working.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: So here's the thought.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: Remember, it's like going to the gym.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: At first, you make the decision that you're going to go to the gym.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: You actually take action, you pack everything up and you go to the gym.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: And initially, when you get there, it's a little awkward, you're barely productive.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: But interestingly enough, no matter how bad day one is, you actually feel a little more confident.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: And that little bit of confidence that we feel, it actually releases dopamine.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: And that dopamine that's internally released from our body because we did something, and that little bit of confidence was created, it actually provides the motivation for us to return because we want that feeling again.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: But then returning to the gym, it actually increases our strength.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: And as our strength increases with our activity, um greater activity and greater outcomes actually result.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: And now our confidence goes up and more dopamine is released.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: And then we now have more activity, which increases more confidence, which gives us that dopamine burst again.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: And we are creating it from our own activity.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Then all of a sudden, this cycle actually begins, and we realize that it's actually confidence that begins to create the momentum.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: And what's interesting is readiness is nowhere in the equation.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: You're never ready, you just start.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: So as a father, what would have been amazing to have heard at the beginning of my life versus at the point where more than 50% of it is behind me, it would have been amazing to hear these words, and I want you to get them.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Readiness is deceptive, it's a thought that's far overrated.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Readiness is a word that's over-encouraged, but action is usually discouraged, and action is even ridiculed.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: But in reality, the natural byproduct of action is success.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: If you wait until you feel confident, you'll be waiting your whole life.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Listen carefully.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Start where you are.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Work will finish what fear will never allow to begin.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Start today because the future is coming, and there's no time to waste.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: I heard an amazing, an amazing um interview, and it was being conducted by um uh TD Jakes.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: And in the interview, he was talking about the concept of youth, and he said that youth is like steam on the mirror in the bathroom when you're taking a shower.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: He said, before you can finish drying off, it disappears.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: So I want us all to be mindful of the fact that we have no time to waste, and the one thing that we will not waste time on is getting ready.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Take care and let's seize the day.
