- 0:34Speaker 3: I didn't know that.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Apparently our wives communicated and decided on the color.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Of the day. I didn't get the memo.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Yeah, unpredicted. Well we're uh are we tg era era
- 0:47Speaker 2: your command? Your your command and we're engineering or we're.

- 0:59Speaker 3: s so he and it. We'll have to fight to
- 1:01Speaker 3: the death.
- 1:04Speaker 4: This will go.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Actually, actually I'm in command because I'm wearing I'm wearing
- 1:08Speaker 2: a sash.
- 1:10Speaker 3: You can't see it. I can't see it.
- 1:11Speaker 5: But you are decorating. You are decorated as well.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I get that reference. I get that reference.
- 1:22Speaker 2: That's I can't remember the name of the episode, but
- 1:25Speaker 2: when they all forgot who they were and Wharf was
- 1:27Speaker 2: like I got a big old sash on the cap.
- 1:30Speaker 5: I think it was Coundrum.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Maybe I don't even remember the name of it, which
- 1:35Speaker 4: is ironic.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Anyway, this is trek cast. I'm Dan. A guy in
- 1:40Speaker 2: the bottom is is Scott. We call him strong Beard.
- 1:42Speaker 2: He has a semi semi muscular beard. Up the top left,
- 1:47Speaker 2: that's oh, come on, man, I'm doing I'm going by location.
- 1:49Speaker 3: You there you go, there you go. Top left is Daniel,
- 1:53Speaker 3: the Heart the Soul. I just hit the buttons, yes,
- 1:59Speaker 3: I just you fly the ship.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Got click the buttons. That's right, I fly the ships.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:06Speaker 5: You have the buttons, and you know which ones to
- 2:08Speaker 5: push I do.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I pushed many buttons on many people.
- 2:16Speaker 3: How rough? Yeah, older, I get man, they're all they're
- 2:22Speaker 3: all rough.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 2: My son's got flu b. Now I had flu a
- 2:28Speaker 2: last month. He's got flu b. Okay, so I think
- 2:31Speaker 2: if my wife gets flu c we got a free.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Sandwich or something.
- 2:34Speaker 5: I don't. That's exactly how.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Exactly I bruised my ribs again sparring. Uh, about a
- 2:45Speaker 2: week and a half ago. So I've been doing the
- 2:49Speaker 2: shallow cough to make sure it doesn't hurt excruciatingly. My
- 2:56Speaker 2: daughter had surgery a couple of weeks ago, so I yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 2: she had eye surgery. So she was in pain for
- 3:03Speaker 2: you know, about a week. The pain, the pain has subsided,
- 3:06Speaker 2: but she's still seeing double so I got to lead.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Her around the house like.
- 3:11Speaker 4: You know, yeah of course.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, so it's been it's been a rough weeks.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, so go ahead tell me how great
- 3:21Speaker 2: you're doing.
- 3:22Speaker 5: Oh my fantastic week. Everybody's healthy, we're happy.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Captain America came out. I got a new.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, that's right.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Yeah, Captain America. That was fun.
- 3:36Speaker 5: I listened to.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Uh, I listened to part part of your you know,
- 3:41Speaker 2: fun fact. But I'm not here. These guys still do
- 3:44Speaker 2: a podcast, isn't that great?
- 3:49Speaker 3: So I listened. I went to see Captain America on Sunday.
- 3:54Speaker 3: So it was a week ago.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I saw the picture. Yeah yeah, so I
- 3:58Speaker 2: think it was Monday holiday. I think Monday was a holiday,
- 4:01Speaker 2: so whatever to yeah Tuesday when I went to you know,
- 4:05Speaker 2: to honor all of the great presidents, Yeah, Tuesday.
- 4:10Speaker 3: On my drive to work. I listened to most of
- 4:14Speaker 3: most of your podcasts.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Before we got the spoilers.
- 4:18Speaker 2: No, no, this was after I had, I had. I
- 4:20Speaker 2: purposely didn't listen to your show until after.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Yeah, very cool.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Tell you guys, I'm a fan. I listened to your
- 4:28Speaker 2: show except accept the admiration, how.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Did how did you do you like the Captain America movie?
- 4:35Speaker 5: Or not?
- 4:36Speaker 3: Or it was weird? You know it was. It was
- 4:41Speaker 3: a sequel to.
- 4:45Speaker 2: A sequel to The Incredible Hulk, but in many ways
- 4:51Speaker 2: there was so much ancillary stuff going on it felt
- 4:55Speaker 2: it felt like it should almost be an Avengers movie,
- 4:57Speaker 2: not a Yeah, not a Captain America movie. But I
- 5:03Speaker 2: think if they had made an adventurous movie, like the
- 5:05Speaker 2: people crying about him being Captain America would be crying
- 5:08Speaker 2: that much harder. So I don't know, yeah, yeah, but
- 5:12Speaker 2: I also, how is Bruce Banner not in this movie?
- 5:18Speaker 3: Right?
- 5:19Speaker 4: That's all?
- 5:22Speaker 2: And as I just said that, I couldn't help but
- 5:24Speaker 2: think of Andy Samberg as Nicholas Cage.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Oh this movie?
- 5:29Speaker 6: Yeah, but yeah, I don't know how you know you've
- 5:35Speaker 6: got you got incredible Hulk characters, incredible Hulk villains, incredible
- 5:40Speaker 6: Hulk girlfriends, which they made sure you knew at the
- 5:43Speaker 6: beginning because.
- 5:44Speaker 3: They specifically said it on the news, which.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Is weird, so weird, you know, it should have been
- 5:54Speaker 2: like Entertainment Tonight news. If they're going to do that,
- 5:56Speaker 2: if they're going to do who's you know, who's whose girlfriend.
- 6:00Speaker 2: You know, it shouldn't be CNN, it should be you.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Would think they would have like an entertainment tonight about
- 6:05Speaker 4: superheroes in the Marvel universe.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's something, it's something the should do.
- 6:13Speaker 3: But yeah, I totally expected him to show up at
- 6:15Speaker 3: some point.
- 6:16Speaker 4: And hey, Dan, you may want to reset. Your audio
- 6:22Speaker 4: is coming in just a little bit scratchy? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 3: How's it? How's it now?
- 6:29Speaker 4: Still still?
- 6:30Speaker 3: Yeah? All right, let me reset.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Okay, well he's doing that. Why don't we get into
- 6:36Speaker 4: the stories, uh, the entertainment news. I guess it'll be
- 6:42Speaker 4: since yeah yeah, well and I got and I got
- 6:45Speaker 4: one Star Trek News, so we'll do one Star Trek
- 6:47Speaker 4: and then entertainment news.
- 6:48Speaker 3: So here we go.
- 6:49Speaker 7: Okay, Star Trek News, so.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Our first Star Trek News and only Star Trek News. Dude,
- 6:58Speaker 4: it is slim pickings right now. You know it is
- 7:01Speaker 4: out there but before the storm. Yeah yeah, I don't
- 7:06Speaker 4: know what that storm is. But yes, so we've got
- 7:10Speaker 4: a story from a I P. Tcomics dot com. There's Dan.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Oh yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Our first Start Trek story is if you can't Get Enough?
- 7:23Speaker 4: Section thirty one A Section thirty one comic book is
- 7:26Speaker 4: on its way. Yes, it's coming out. I think next week.
- 7:31Speaker 3: It's from telling my wife, you know, I wish I
- 7:34Speaker 3: could get.
- 7:34Speaker 4: More of that, right right too?
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot about Yeah, and you know, I know
- 7:41Speaker 2: it was an at home movie.
- 7:42Speaker 3: But how come there was no popcorn bucket?
- 7:45Speaker 4: What would you want the bucket to be?
- 7:48Speaker 5: I mean my popcorn out of a litlverine.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Bucket, So anything that could catch my tears.
- 7:57Speaker 4: I still want to shut all craft Bok popcorn book it.
- 8:00Speaker 4: So yeah, so we're getting a section thirty one comic book,
- 8:04Speaker 4: Emperor Born. It is a one shot comic book, so
- 8:08Speaker 4: this is not a series.
- 8:09Speaker 5: This is staged.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, just just be okay.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah exactly, just bite the stick and get it over it.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:19Speaker 4: So it looks like it is a backstory of a
- 8:22Speaker 4: backstory to Emperor Georgio from what I can see. We
- 8:27Speaker 4: do have a preview, and yeah, you kind of see
- 8:30Speaker 4: Georgio in in a bar talking to people, and then
- 8:34Speaker 4: you see her back in the Arran Empire in school.
- 8:37Speaker 4: So yeah, it looks like she was educated by Homelander.
- 8:43Speaker 4: It looks like that comic book which you would explain
- 8:48Speaker 4: some things.
- 8:48Speaker 3: So I thought I thought that was, but.
- 8:51Speaker 4: That's right, it might be. It might be kind of
- 8:54Speaker 4: looks like Homelander though.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:00Speaker 4: So this comic, I believe it comes out next week.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Looks like the sticker price is right around six bucks.
- 9:07Speaker 4: So if you can't get enough section thirty one, there
- 9:10Speaker 4: you go.
- 9:10Speaker 5: It's about five dollars nine cents too much for me.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Uld make it stop, please?
- 9:16Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:17Speaker 4: It feels like this was something that was already in
- 9:19Speaker 4: the works and so they're just quietly releasing it.
- 9:23Speaker 3: All right.
- 9:24Speaker 5: That's really bad when you have to quietly release Yeah, well,
- 9:28Speaker 5: you know.
- 9:29Speaker 2: You know, six months from now coming to a big
- 9:31Speaker 2: lots near you, no.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Or no big lots of shutting down.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Ali's Ali's comic section.
- 9:39Speaker 5: Yeah, we got some.
- 9:42Speaker 4: We got some entertainment stories because there's just not enough
- 9:44Speaker 4: Start Trek News right now, it's pretty dead. So here
- 9:47Speaker 4: we go. Pertainment story comes to us from Yahoo News,
- 9:57Speaker 4: and I would love to get both of you guys
- 9:58Speaker 4: opinion on this. The Internet is all a buzz because
- 10:03Speaker 4: earlier this week, Zach Snyder and James Gunn had lunch
- 10:08Speaker 4: or something. I don't know if you guys saw this photo,
- 10:11Speaker 4: but there's the two of them together hanging out. James
- 10:13Speaker 4: Gunn posted it there are Yeah.
- 10:17Speaker 2: You know what, I don't know about you, but I
- 10:20Speaker 2: sometimes have lunch with people that I've known for twenty
- 10:22Speaker 2: five years.
- 10:23Speaker 3: But exactly that's just me. These guys work together twenty
- 10:28Speaker 3: something years ago.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Yeah, and they're both giant comic book nerds.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Like yep, yeah, they showed this photo. Yeah, they showed
- 10:38Speaker 2: a photo just like this from from twenty years ago.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And like they're even standing in the same spot. It's
- 10:43Speaker 2: practically the same pose, right, there's nothing special about this, No,
- 10:47Speaker 2: of course not.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Well, here's here's where the uh do I have the
- 10:51Speaker 4: other picture here?
- 10:53Speaker 1: No?
- 10:53Speaker 4: Okay, Well, the thing that that has people kind of
- 10:56Speaker 4: freaking out about it is apparently that wood paneling that's
- 10:59Speaker 4: in the background of that photo is very similar to
- 11:02Speaker 4: the wood paneling in the DCU writers room. So people
- 11:07Speaker 4: are putting all the threads together thinking Zack Snyder's coming back.
- 11:11Speaker 4: He's gonna helm some project or maybe finish his Justice
- 11:15Speaker 4: League story. God knows, you know, only knows, uh who, right,
- 11:20Speaker 4: we don't know. It's all speculative, don't you know. And
- 11:24Speaker 4: allegedly there's going to be a dc you announcement coming
- 11:30Speaker 4: later this week.
- 11:32Speaker 5: So yeah, but that's what these bull and horsecraft rumors start.
- 11:37Speaker 5: If you if we ever get back together, like in person,
- 11:41Speaker 5: like we ever meet up at a comic con or whatever,
- 11:43Speaker 5: I'm not going out to lunch with either one of you.
- 11:45Speaker 5: I'm not taking any pictures of an interview because I
- 11:47Speaker 5: don't want any of these nasty rumors about some stupid
- 11:51Speaker 5: collab that's never gonna happenular the internet. I don't want
- 11:54Speaker 5: our faces out entertainment tonight.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:58Speaker 4: So that I'm kind of I think, okay, yeah, okay, yeah, yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 4: I'm in that boat too. I think they were just
- 12:06Speaker 4: having lunch and that's it, and they're both masters of
- 12:09Speaker 4: the Internet and wanted to troll everybody, and that's.
- 12:11Speaker 2: It, even you know, even if that is the DCU office. Yeah,
- 12:17Speaker 2: so what hey, man, I'm gonna be in your area
- 12:19Speaker 2: next week. You want to get lunch? Yeah, all right,
- 12:21Speaker 2: I'll come buy your job.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:24Speaker 5: Counselor Troy said that Sigmund Freud said that sometimes a
- 12:29Speaker 5: cigar is just a cigar.
- 12:30Speaker 4: That's right, that's right, the fictional character said about the
- 12:34Speaker 4: real person, this thing.
- 12:35Speaker 3: It's right, all right.
- 12:39Speaker 4: So that's that's that story. And then our last news
- 12:42Speaker 4: story comes to us from IGN dot com. I'm just
- 12:47Speaker 4: it's a slow week and I thought this was funny.
- 12:50Speaker 4: But also in comic book news, the Toxic Avenger is
- 12:54Speaker 4: going to be having a big summer of different crossovers
- 12:58Speaker 4: and you won't believe who they're gonna pair them up with.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Jesus Well, yep, yep, that's the one I've been waiting for. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 4: so Annie, I was right, yeah, story about it right now?
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I got nothing.
- 13:19Speaker 4: I got nothing on this. It's so ridiculous.
- 13:23Speaker 5: What do you do with two balls from left field?
- 13:26Speaker 4: Right right? It's like they hit a name generator and
- 13:30Speaker 4: just like, oh, who are we gonna pair them with generate?
- 13:32Speaker 4: Oh okay, that's what we're doing.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't even know anymore, all right, So.
- 13:41Speaker 4: I just yeah, I just thought i'd share that should
- 13:42Speaker 4: come out later this summer. That's that's that's the stories.
- 13:47Speaker 5: So wait a minute, who who owns Paramount right now?
- 13:52Speaker 5: Is there no nothing on that.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Or owns themselves right now?
- 13:56Speaker 2: Actually actually this just in this just in, Paramount has
- 14:01Speaker 2: been purchased by the Vatican, so this isn't a crossover anymore.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Fantastic, fantastic. I can't wait for a paw patrol to
- 14:12Speaker 4: to cross over with the Pope's exor system.
- 14:14Speaker 5: We're gonna see, We're gonna see Paramount and Ali's.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Wow, it's not quite that bad. I'm gonna below.
- 14:27Speaker 5: That's what we need to save big lots.
- 14:30Speaker 3: That's right to buy Paramount.
- 14:33Speaker 5: God.
- 14:34Speaker 2: My sister had had a Big Lots in her town
- 14:36Speaker 2: and the l the l was out on the sign
- 14:39Speaker 2: for a long time.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Oh nice, so I said, biggots.
- 14:45Speaker 2: It's been ten years, but people in the area is
- 14:48Speaker 2: still call it biggots.
- 14:50Speaker 5: Great, that's awesome, that's awesome.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Yeah, ours just I just went down there yesterday.
- 14:58Speaker 3: It was great.
- 15:00Speaker 5: You know what's said about our big lots is our
- 15:02Speaker 5: big lots like about three or four years ago, moved
- 15:06Speaker 5: and they they went out of the building that they've
- 15:08Speaker 5: been in since I was like a small kid. Yeah,
- 15:11Speaker 5: they went into the former Toys Rs. Building, which was
- 15:15Speaker 5: a much more prominent part, you know, on the street,
- 15:17Speaker 5: you know, and then three years later.
- 15:20Speaker 3: This one is brand new. It opened about two years ago.
- 15:23Speaker 5: And well, big Lots forgot Big Lots a lot like
- 15:26Speaker 5: McDonald's forgot what they were like McDonald's. I went to
- 15:30Speaker 5: McDonald's the other day for me, you know, my son
- 15:32Speaker 5: and I and it was like twenty two dollars for
- 15:36Speaker 5: the two of us. Whoa donald Well year roll you
- 15:39Speaker 5: forgot who you were, just like Big Lots did walk
- 15:41Speaker 5: into a Big Lots last year, and it's like, this
- 15:44Speaker 5: is like walking into a I don't know, like a
- 15:47Speaker 5: really crappy Sears. But the prices are still the same.
- 15:51Speaker 2: So McDonald's has a has a has a value meal
- 15:55Speaker 2: that's been going on for the last six months. They
- 15:59Speaker 2: don't advertise it as much as they did in the beginning,
- 16:01Speaker 2: but it's still on the menu. Okay, there's a five
- 16:04Speaker 2: dollars meal or a six dollar meal, and the five
- 16:07Speaker 2: dollar meal is a McChicken of four piece nuggets, fries,
- 16:12Speaker 2: and a drink. The six dollar meal is a mcdouble,
- 16:16Speaker 2: four piece nuggets, fries, and a drink. And honestly, that
- 16:19Speaker 2: is an ample amount of food for an adult to eat. Yeah,
- 16:23Speaker 2: So when we do go to McDonald's, my wife and
- 16:27Speaker 2: I each get that, the kids each get a happy meal,
- 16:29Speaker 2: and it's still expensive, but yeah, not nearly what it
- 16:33Speaker 2: would have been if she and I were getting a
- 16:36Speaker 2: regular meal.
- 16:36Speaker 5: Off the regular menu, right, Okay, so chance that says
- 16:40Speaker 5: use the app. I don't use the app for the
- 16:41Speaker 5: same reason I don't have the Little Caesars app. I
- 16:43Speaker 5: don't have any of the app because I'm in denial. Okay,
- 16:46Speaker 5: I've been trying to eat healthy. Sometimes you're just out
- 16:49Speaker 5: and about and it's like, oh god, you know I
- 16:51Speaker 5: just picked up you know, I just took a kid
- 16:52Speaker 5: the Orthanontis, or we're out about. The routine is a
- 16:56Speaker 5: little off, and I see a McDonald's and I'm like,
- 16:58Speaker 5: I drive and I'm like, well, we won't die, so
- 17:01Speaker 5: I pull in. It does not like prep app kind
- 17:04Speaker 5: of thing. So you all right, yeah, yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 3: You know what the app is?
- 17:09Speaker 4: What's the app advertising that?
- 17:11Speaker 2: No, the app is the twenty first century equivalent of
- 17:16Speaker 2: these things.
- 17:17Speaker 3: All these things, remember these things?
- 17:20Speaker 2: And you'd see people that there their keychain had had
- 17:23Speaker 2: a stack. Yeah like this right, and now you know
- 17:28Speaker 2: now it's the app. I was in AutoZone last week
- 17:30Speaker 2: and they're like, do you have our app?
- 17:33Speaker 3: No?
- 17:34Speaker 2: And I started to explain to the girl, no, you see,
- 17:37Speaker 2: the app is the twenty first century equivalent.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Of this, and she looked at me. I don't know
- 17:41Speaker 3: what that is.
- 17:42Speaker 4: I don't know what that's amazing.
- 17:45Speaker 2: So here's the thing. Look at the corner of this.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I can't even put it on the keys anymore. Right,
- 17:49Speaker 2: So the last time I was in there just a
- 17:52Speaker 2: while ago.
- 17:53Speaker 3: But yeah, the.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Last time I was in there, I was like, hey,
- 17:56Speaker 2: my my thing is broken. Can you can you give
- 17:58Speaker 2: me a new one? He's like, we don't issue those anymore.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Oh wow, since we since wed.
- 18:05Speaker 3: He's like, it's it's been years. So how do you
- 18:08Speaker 3: get in here? He says, you pull it up on
- 18:10Speaker 3: the app and forget it. Forget it.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll put you a new hole myself on the
- 18:15Speaker 2: other side, ye, which of course I didn't. That's that's
- 18:23Speaker 2: my dan ryance.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Well, people have been missing it, so there you go.
- 18:27Speaker 4: Well should we get to our main topic?
- 18:29Speaker 3: Do we have to?
- 18:31Speaker 5: I mean we said we would, you said, says make
- 18:36Speaker 5: it so?
- 18:37Speaker 3: All right, that's fun, will now come the kers says
- 18:43Speaker 3: make it so? Yeah.
- 18:45Speaker 4: He doesn't make it.
- 18:46Speaker 3: He doesn't say that. He just swings his leg over
- 18:49Speaker 3: the chair and does it.
- 18:51Speaker 4: He plays jazz music. Wait, what was that?
- 18:55Speaker 5: It's swinging his leg?
- 18:57Speaker 2: Okay, so funny story about make it so? Yeah, Captain
- 19:02Speaker 2: Janeway has a similar phrase. She doesn't use it as often,
- 19:07Speaker 2: but it's usually in like the heat of the moment.
- 19:10Speaker 3: She says, do it. I don't know if you guys
- 19:12Speaker 3: have Oh yeah, yeah, she says, do it?
- 19:15Speaker 2: Yes, And my wife and I I made my wife
- 19:18Speaker 2: sit through seventh seasons of Voyager, you know, fifteen years
- 19:21Speaker 2: ago when we when we got together, and to this day,
- 19:24Speaker 2: sometimes she will make Captain Janeway's smoky lady voice and
- 19:30Speaker 2: just say do it?
- 19:36Speaker 3: Do it?
- 19:40Speaker 2: You know, like, hey, should I you know, should I
- 19:42Speaker 2: take the recycle the recycles out to the kid?
- 19:45Speaker 3: Do it?
- 19:46Speaker 5: Does she put her hand on her hits like that? Dude?
- 19:49Speaker 2: She does this sometimes when she's doing her you can't
- 19:52Speaker 2: really say. She puts the hand up in the air
- 19:56Speaker 2: like shut up a lot of do it.
- 19:58Speaker 4: I was gonna say that she can band coffee too.
- 20:01Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, I'm doing a Voyager rewatch right now. And
- 20:05Speaker 5: I just got to, uh, like an episode or two
- 20:08Speaker 5: past Scorpion. So season four seven of nine just showed
- 20:12Speaker 5: up us this left, so yeah, and then I'm watching
- 20:16Speaker 5: the the the REWATCHO. Listen to the rewatch podcast with
- 20:20Speaker 5: with Robbie McNeil and Garrett wank so oh yeah, yeah,
- 20:25Speaker 5: they all do a lot of Jane Way impersonations.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that's funny.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I love how you call him Robbie.
- 20:31Speaker 5: That's right, Okay, So yeah, all right, yeah, I'm glad
- 20:35Speaker 5: you called me out on that. You know, how you
- 20:37Speaker 5: listen to a podcast for so long, and I bet
- 20:39Speaker 5: people that are listening to this can sort of understand.
- 20:42Speaker 5: You listen to watch the podcast for so long you
- 20:44Speaker 5: kind of feel like, you know, you're just a couple
- 20:46Speaker 5: of guys hanging out. And that's that's what Garrett calls
- 20:50Speaker 5: Robert Duncan McNeill, right, because he doesn't go by robbers.
- 20:55Speaker 4: They're friends, right.
- 20:57Speaker 5: He goes by Robbie like nobody calls him Robert.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, you're right.
- 21:03Speaker 2: I remember on the set when they were filming the
- 21:05Speaker 2: show exactly.
- 21:09Speaker 4: It's like that, like the meme have you seen the
- 21:11Speaker 4: meme about listening to podcasts? Were the guys sitting there
- 21:14Speaker 4: next to the picture of people right right?
- 21:18Speaker 5: Well, you know that's why it was such a surreal
- 21:20Speaker 5: experience when when you guys invited me to guest host,
- 21:25Speaker 5: because I I went, you know, because I've listened to
- 21:28Speaker 5: a bunch of podcasts over the years, and I sort
- 21:30Speaker 5: of felt that same. You know, I feel like I'm
- 21:33Speaker 5: just hanging out with some guys, but I realized that
- 21:35Speaker 5: they can't hear what I'm saying, and all of a sudden,
- 21:37Speaker 5: I'm thrown into that situation. It was really weird.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Now you're in the TV.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Now exactly, I'm in the TV. Yeah, I feel like
- 21:52Speaker 5: I'm still dreaming.
- 21:55Speaker 2: You were there and you and you you were there too.
- 21:59Speaker 4: So, yeah, it's our main topic.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Maybe is she Is she gonna lecture me about climate change?
- 22:04Speaker 3: Is that? Yeah?
- 22:05Speaker 4: Maybe? Maybe so yeah, so our main topic is we
- 22:08Speaker 4: are reviewing the fan film star Trek Renegades. This is
- 22:13Speaker 4: a twenty to fifteen fan film more or less the
- 22:16Speaker 4: Forgotten Section thirty one movie. It is about a ragtag
- 22:20Speaker 4: group of of misfits more or less that come together
- 22:26Speaker 4: to help save the Federation. Apparently like the di lithium
- 22:30Speaker 4: crystals are being are disappearing things to a space fold
- 22:35Speaker 4: issue or something like that. It's a yeah, it's funny, like, yeah,
- 22:40Speaker 4: I noticed they took a lot of things out of
- 22:42Speaker 4: this for for Discovery episodes. It's kind of interesting, but yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 4: This was a fan film directed by Tuvac himself, Tim Russ,
- 22:52Speaker 4: which is kind of interesting as well. It's got all
- 22:55Speaker 4: sorts of people in there. Walter Koenigg is in there
- 22:59Speaker 4: as Admiral Pebble check off. Robert Boccardo's in there sort of.
- 23:06Speaker 4: I mean, he's there, but it doesn't make a lot
- 23:09Speaker 4: of sense, Tim Russ. We even have even Edward Furlong,
- 23:15Speaker 4: John Connor himself.
- 23:16Speaker 5: Yeah. I had to look. I had to look up
- 23:18Speaker 5: the casts. I'm like, that guy looks familiar, but I
- 23:20Speaker 5: don't know who it is.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I know who it was.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:26Speaker 8: Uh.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Would you guys think we even have a MythBuster?
- 23:29Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, Grant Amma Yeah.
- 23:32Speaker 5: Grant Amhara. I'm like, oh, that's grand yeah, because you
- 23:37Speaker 5: don't know. Grant Amhara one of the uh one of
- 23:40Speaker 5: the uh tertiary MythBusters. He passed away about five years ago. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:47Speaker 5: that was one of the I don't have reactions to
- 23:51Speaker 5: celebrity deaths, you know, even Star Trek deaths, like you know,
- 23:54Speaker 5: when Michelle Nichols died, I'm like, oh, it's sad. I
- 23:56Speaker 5: don't have like, you know, physical or viscal reactions to
- 24:01Speaker 5: celebrity that. When I was at work on my lunch
- 24:04Speaker 5: and I was scrolling through my phone and I saw
- 24:07Speaker 5: the headline Grant Amajara pass it away. I literally gasped.
- 24:12Speaker 5: I was like and I see. I was like wow,
- 24:15Speaker 5: because I you know, I MythBusters has was and has
- 24:19Speaker 5: been a huge part of my life. I just I
- 24:20Speaker 5: loved the show. I've I've met the two main guys
- 24:26Speaker 5: on stage. So yeah, that was But it was really
- 24:29Speaker 5: cool to see him in the movie.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Absolutely. I mean it's pretty neat how big of the
- 24:35Speaker 4: cast they had and all the like different players in it.
- 24:40Speaker 4: You know, each chip was in there for some reason.
- 24:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess because he said, yes.
- 24:47Speaker 5: They had a lot of talent. I mean, not that
- 24:50Speaker 5: it was portrayed on screen, but there was a lot
- 24:52Speaker 5: of right there. Uh.
- 24:55Speaker 4: So this is the same team who was behind the
- 24:58Speaker 4: fan film Treck of Gods and Men. Allegedly, the budget
- 25:03Speaker 4: for this star Trek Renegades was just over three hundred
- 25:06Speaker 4: thousand dollars that they raised on a Kickstarter in Indiegogo campaign,
- 25:12Speaker 4: So they had money, yeah, for a fan film, and.
- 25:18Speaker 5: They were able to put something together. I know, we're
- 25:21Speaker 5: probably gonna be fashing this film quite a bit, but
- 25:23Speaker 5: they were able to put something together, and you know,
- 25:28Speaker 5: as a Star Trek film, were you know, as a
- 25:32Speaker 5: normal Star Trek film. This was a very low budget
- 25:37Speaker 5: really go as far as they call it garbage. But
- 25:39Speaker 5: it was the fact that it was put together, the
- 25:42Speaker 5: fact that that all these people came together, the fact
- 25:45Speaker 5: that it was just made. In general, I got to
- 25:48Speaker 5: get you know, my hat's off to everybody who participated
- 25:50Speaker 5: in it. There were some good scenes, there was some
- 25:55Speaker 5: good acting in it, and I appreciated what they did
- 26:00Speaker 5: and you know, what they did with what they had
- 26:02Speaker 5: to work with. So I had to get that out
- 26:04Speaker 5: of the way.
- 26:06Speaker 4: So I guess the first question is this better, worse,
- 26:09Speaker 4: or on par with the Section thirty one movie?
- 26:13Speaker 5: So first we have to define better, Like, you know,
- 26:17Speaker 5: was it Was it better from a cinemagraphic standpoint? No,
- 26:20Speaker 5: of course not. Was it better from a special effects standpoint? No?
- 26:23Speaker 5: Did I have a better experience watching it? Yeah? I
- 26:26Speaker 5: think I did, not by much. But I think I
- 26:30Speaker 5: enjoyed watching this more than I enjoyed watching Section thirty one.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Was that Tony Todd? Was he one of those?
- 26:36Speaker 6: Uh?
- 26:37Speaker 4: Or no? But it kind of sounded like him, right.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, I didn't see him in the credit.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Its good.
- 26:42Speaker 5: Yeah, Tony Todd's the type of actor that would have
- 26:45Speaker 5: done something like this, and he might have been in
- 26:47Speaker 5: one of the other acts in our projects or oh god, yeah,
- 26:53Speaker 5: now does every have we gone over? This was the
- 26:58Speaker 5: plans were announced for like a web based series. This
- 27:01Speaker 5: was also like a This was like a.
- 27:06Speaker 4: They wanted it to be a pilot.
- 27:08Speaker 5: They thought it was. They wanted to be a pilot.
- 27:10Speaker 5: This wasn't the pilot, but this was like, hey, we've
- 27:12Speaker 5: got this idea. This is how we can come together.
- 27:14Speaker 5: We spent three hundred thousand dollars to basically make a
- 27:16Speaker 5: commercial for CBS to pick this up. And it was
- 27:22Speaker 5: you said it was fan made. Now that's kind of
- 27:24Speaker 5: important here because this was never designed to make any money.
- 27:29Speaker 5: It legally it couldn't make any money because this is
- 27:32Speaker 5: not backed by Paramount.
- 27:35Speaker 3: They're full of shit.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and yeah, I asked for donations. When you ask
- 27:41Speaker 2: for donations and and you promise, uh, an appreciation of
- 27:47Speaker 2: your donation, will send you a DVD.
- 27:50Speaker 3: You are selling DVDs.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Yeah, you are selling DVDs of an unauthorized work that
- 27:58Speaker 2: infringes on trademark. So the whole no it's done it bullshit, Yeah, bullshit,
- 28:07Speaker 2: it's still making money. It's still making money because I
- 28:10Speaker 2: don't know about you, but I had to sit through
- 28:13Speaker 2: a whole bunch of commercials on YouTube just to watch
- 28:16Speaker 2: this thing.
- 28:17Speaker 4: So yeah, so maybe think about maybe the.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Maybe the money isn't going directly in their pocket, it's
- 28:24Speaker 2: going in YouTube's pocket. But you know YouTube, YouTube shouldn't
- 28:27Speaker 2: be profiting off of someone else's ip.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Either, right.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Well, the thing about the commercials, from what I've saw,
- 28:33Speaker 4: this has been uploaded by multiple different accounts, so we
- 28:36Speaker 4: don't know for sure that it's the uh producers that
- 28:40Speaker 4: are making the money here.
- 28:41Speaker 2: The one that I watched, the one that I watched,
- 28:43Speaker 2: the link that you sent was Atomic Films, and that's right.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Then, yeah, And if.
- 28:50Speaker 2: They have an ad generating account on YouTube and they're
- 28:52Speaker 2: running ads on this video, they're generating income on the
- 28:56Speaker 2: Star Trek ip that they own that they made and
- 28:59Speaker 2: vite of. I mean, the acts in our decision was
- 29:03Speaker 2: supposed to put all this stuff to bed.
- 29:05Speaker 3: People weren't supposed to be able to make things like this,
- 29:07Speaker 3: and suddenly, right, that's true. So I don't know what
- 29:11Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Well, this whole thing should fall under the acts in
- 29:14Speaker 5: our lawsuit. There was a Star Trek Acts in our
- 29:16Speaker 5: lawsuit that was came out in twenty fourteen. Another fan
- 29:20Speaker 5: made it was meant to be a series, but it
- 29:23Speaker 5: turned out to just be a like a web based
- 29:25Speaker 5: film type of thing. And the agreement that Paramount came
- 29:30Speaker 5: came to was, I think they said in twenty sixteen
- 29:35Speaker 5: they had to remove like into any future or whatever,
- 29:37Speaker 5: they had to remove all Star Trek references like so,
- 29:40Speaker 5: I don't know if that's why the communicators looked weird.
- 29:43Speaker 5: I don't know if that's what the deal was they did.
- 29:47Speaker 5: I don't know. And there's you know, lots of schools
- 29:50Speaker 5: that thought about whether they should go be able to,
- 29:53Speaker 5: you know, do this kind of thing, how they should
- 29:55Speaker 5: be able to do this kind of thing.
- 29:57Speaker 3: You know.
- 29:57Speaker 5: Dan obviously has a great point about, you know, their
- 30:00Speaker 5: infringing on copyrighted material and they're making money off of it.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Anytime you're you know, doing things with ads and and
- 30:09Speaker 5: Kickstarter stuff, you know, the funds are coming in, things
- 30:12Speaker 5: are going out. That's sort of the definition of making money.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but even if even if okay, so even if
- 30:19Speaker 2: they're not making money on it. But they hire a
- 30:22Speaker 2: film crew to shoot their movie. M they're they're paying
- 30:26Speaker 2: the film crew with the money that came from donations.
- 30:29Speaker 2: The film crew is making money on Star Trek when
- 30:33Speaker 2: they're not authorized to do that.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Right.
- 30:36Speaker 2: You know, you get craft services in there, and you're
- 30:39Speaker 2: going to feed all of these actors. The company that
- 30:42Speaker 2: provides that food is turning a profit from Star Trek
- 30:46Speaker 2: without auganization.
- 30:47Speaker 5: And as I understand that part of law.
- 30:50Speaker 2: This isn't a fan film. This is an unauthorized film.
- 30:55Speaker 5: Right, And that's what I understand with film.
- 30:56Speaker 2: A fan film is the three of us make costumes
- 31:00Speaker 2: and go to the park and shoot a movie on
- 31:02Speaker 2: our phone and edit it and upload.
- 31:04Speaker 5: It as we've done many times, and right, we have fun.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yeah we do that. Usually we do that in the spring.
- 31:09Speaker 2: So there's one coming watch for it.
- 31:10Speaker 4: Yeah, there you go.
- 31:12Speaker 5: So that's the distinction they were arguing about in the
- 31:15Speaker 5: lawsuit is the X and our people were arguing, well,
- 31:20Speaker 5: we're not making any money because making money means profit,
- 31:23Speaker 5: and we're not making any profit. So what you're talking
- 31:26Speaker 5: about is just you know, uh yeah, craft services and
- 31:29Speaker 5: all that kind of stuff. There was money generated, but
- 31:33Speaker 5: Their argument was there was no profit being generated. A
- 31:36Speaker 5: profit is, after all, cocks are being paid for it.
- 31:39Speaker 3: So the the the okay.
- 31:42Speaker 2: And the counter argument to that is, I have a
- 31:45Speaker 2: ton of Star Trek DVDs on my shelf inside. If
- 31:51Speaker 2: I fire up the old DVD burner and I make
- 31:54Speaker 2: a hundred copies of each of them and I sell
- 31:57Speaker 2: them at a loss.
- 31:59Speaker 3: I'm not making any money. Am I start breaking the law?
- 32:02Speaker 5: Yes?
- 32:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I am.
- 32:04Speaker 5: Same same way as if you were to have like
- 32:06Speaker 5: a garage sale and you decided that during your grid sale,
- 32:09Speaker 5: you're gonna have a public viewing of Deep Sace nine.
- 32:12Speaker 5: That is awfully illegal.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Yeah, technically, you go to the bar to watch Monday
- 32:17Speaker 2: night football unless they're unless they're paying a licensing fee
- 32:20Speaker 2: to the NFL and NBC or whoever's airing it, right,
- 32:25Speaker 2: they're in violation. But this is, you know, this is
- 32:27Speaker 2: a little different. That's a public broadcast that you're just
- 32:31Speaker 2: beyond in the corner. These people are are creating something
- 32:35Speaker 2: that they don't own and then selling it.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Right, does anybody else find sean young.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Creepy who's shown young she's.
- 32:42Speaker 5: The woman that the doctor was dating, the.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Woman who's wearing glasses in the twentieth century. That woman.
- 32:51Speaker 5: You at the back of her head?
- 32:52Speaker 4: Oh okay, yeah, I think that's all I got of her.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Okay, yeah she was. She was a doctor's Immermann's girlfriend,
- 33:00Speaker 5: the main captain of that.
- 33:02Speaker 4: I think she was also so supposed to be a hologram.
- 33:05Speaker 4: They kind of allude to it.
- 33:07Speaker 5: Oh really Yeah.
- 33:08Speaker 4: They make a weird line about like people can't see
- 33:12Speaker 4: who she really is, so she might be wearing some
- 33:15Speaker 4: sort of hollow yeah, covering.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Can you go back to that cling on for a minute. Yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 2: I feel like this is a white guy playing a
- 33:28Speaker 2: black klingon.
- 33:30Speaker 5: Whoa, whoa, whoa. That's the heck of an accusation there,
- 33:34Speaker 5: And I.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Feel like, just to play it's safe, you know, if
- 33:39Speaker 3: you're a you're playing a cling on, play a white clingon. Yeah,
- 33:44Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 33:45Speaker 5: So okay, So did call Mini play a white klingon
- 33:49Speaker 5: and Renee? Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 33:55Speaker 4: I I liked particularly this scene. Yeah, these scenes when
- 34:00Speaker 4: they're on the USS archer because the two guys that
- 34:04Speaker 4: are like running the commns and piloting, they're both like this,
- 34:08Speaker 4: like they could not care any less the entire scene.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Or or are they talking to Are they talking to
- 34:16Speaker 2: the captain behind them?
- 34:17Speaker 3: Is that what? Yeah? I don't know. You know why
- 34:20Speaker 3: they don't.
- 34:20Speaker 2: You know why they don't know because there was there
- 34:23Speaker 2: was no piece of blue tape for them to look at,
- 34:26Speaker 2: because this is probably green screen because it looks terrible, right, Yeah.
- 34:32Speaker 5: I'm trying to think about, Okay, a white Klingon. That's
- 34:34Speaker 5: either going to be my new rapper name, or that's
- 34:37Speaker 5: going to be a new drink that I'm gonna make up.
- 34:39Speaker 4: I was gonna say, a white Klingon sounds like a
- 34:40Speaker 4: great drink.
- 34:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 4: One thing I read on the Wikipedia page that the
- 34:46Speaker 4: main villain, I forget this guy, the blue guy, I
- 34:50Speaker 4: forget his name anyways, was originally supposed to be played
- 34:54Speaker 4: by J. G. Hertzler. Yeah he was, Yeah, but apparently
- 35:00Speaker 4: he had to bow out last minute because he got
- 35:02Speaker 4: elected to office.
- 35:03Speaker 3: So J. G.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Hertzler, Yeah, so that's a white guy. He plays a
- 35:07Speaker 2: white Klingon.
- 35:08Speaker 4: Mm hmm, there you go.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, I feel like I need to write a
- 35:15Speaker 5: paper now about the difference between white and black. I
- 35:20Speaker 5: wouldn't do it. I just think you know what you're saying.
- 35:24Speaker 3: I just it looks more natural.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that guy looks like his whole face is
- 35:30Speaker 2: covered in grease paint because they've changed the tone of
- 35:33Speaker 2: his skin and it's shiny, and it just doesn't it
- 35:36Speaker 2: doesn't look good. Whereas if his maybe his appliances were
- 35:40Speaker 2: molded for somebody else, maybe they're the wrong.
- 35:42Speaker 4: Color, somebody out in last minute, we gotta make this work,
- 35:47Speaker 4: which totally would happen on a fan film. So yeah, well,
- 35:50Speaker 4: what do you think about Egypt still being bored? Like
- 35:52Speaker 4: they they.
- 35:55Speaker 5: All the entire time, I was distracted with Egypt because
- 35:58Speaker 5: I'm kept thinking, Okay, what's this time table? Because I
- 36:00Speaker 5: kept thinking about Star Trek McCard Season one, right, yeah,
- 36:06Speaker 5: and like I kept trying to in my tribe, I
- 36:09Speaker 5: was kept trying to make up a head cannon, Yeah,
- 36:11Speaker 5: like is this is this time? Could he still be
- 36:14Speaker 5: alive in this? Because this movie came out what twelve thirteen,
- 36:16Speaker 5: fourteen years ago, yeah, something like that or twelve ten
- 36:19Speaker 5: years ago whatever it was, yeah, ten years ago, so
- 36:22Speaker 5: it's probably set in the what I think it said
- 36:25Speaker 5: twenty twenty three eighty eight.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Something like, yeah, yeah, I thought it was funny. He
- 36:30Speaker 4: didn't have a start eight. It's just a year.
- 36:33Speaker 5: I'm thinking maybe he was still alive during that period
- 36:36Speaker 5: and he's about to be killed by that evil romulant
- 36:38Speaker 5: bitch you know, tomorrow. But he seemed to be a
- 36:42Speaker 5: little jaded. Yeah, and I yeah, there's something about his acting,
- 36:48Speaker 5: didn't It was a little bit off?
- 36:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was terrible. That's so.
- 36:56Speaker 4: I'm trying to be to hands down, Gary Graham. He
- 37:00Speaker 4: seems like he was trying. Absolutely was trying, was he?
- 37:04Speaker 3: I thought?
- 37:05Speaker 5: So?
- 37:06Speaker 2: See, now I'm surprised when you said this morning that
- 37:09Speaker 2: Tim Russ directed this. Yeah, because I came into this thinking, Okay,
- 37:15Speaker 2: you know, some nobody directed this, and and half of
- 37:19Speaker 2: acting is is you know, being directed, and maybe there
- 37:24Speaker 2: wasn't a competent director to you know, get get the
- 37:29Speaker 2: proper performance out of these people.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Right.
- 37:31Speaker 3: But but you know.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Tim Russ, I mean he directed a whole bunch of
- 37:35Speaker 2: Star Trek episodes, so I mean he's a competent director.
- 37:38Speaker 2: The only other thing, the only other thing I can
- 37:40Speaker 2: come up with is the budget was only the budget
- 37:45Speaker 2: was only three hundred thousand dollars. You only have so
- 37:48Speaker 2: much I mean they probably didn't use film, but you
- 37:50Speaker 2: only have so much time on set, right, you know,
- 37:56Speaker 2: we take three takes and the best one goes in
- 37:58Speaker 2: the film.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Yeah, is is.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Probably how they did it. Yes, it's bad, I'm sorry. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:07Speaker 2: I'm gonna be I'm gonna be honest. I watched just
- 38:10Speaker 2: about half of.
- 38:11Speaker 3: It, okay, and then I gave up.
- 38:15Speaker 5: Yeah, the second half the production totally changes and it's
- 38:18Speaker 5: better than it's better than Strange New Worlds. No, I'm serious.
- 38:22Speaker 5: You need to watch the second half. Like the first
- 38:24Speaker 5: half was bad and the second half was. It was
- 38:26Speaker 5: like a different team and it was amazing. The ending.
- 38:30Speaker 5: I was laughing and crying at the ending. I've never
- 38:33Speaker 5: been so emotionally touched by a Star Trek episode.
- 38:35Speaker 4: That's right, That's right.
- 38:38Speaker 5: I mean it was like The inter Light or Timeless.
- 38:41Speaker 5: It really it was fantastic.
- 38:43Speaker 4: When Luke Skywalker shows up, it's the best.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Yep.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:47Speaker 5: So, according to Wikipedia, there were there were three possible
- 38:51Speaker 5: outcomes for the making of this movie. Okay, either CBS
- 38:56Speaker 5: picks it up for a series, it's made into a
- 38:58Speaker 5: standalone film, or would be the first episode of an
- 39:02Speaker 5: internet based series, which means two of those outcomes. They
- 39:05Speaker 5: were gonna remake this anyways, right into a. You know
- 39:08Speaker 5: they were gonna turn it into a real boy.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Yeah, well they didn't.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Yeah, man, let me ask you, Dan, Well you didn't
- 39:17Speaker 5: even finish this, and I know you finished section thirty one,
- 39:20Speaker 5: so I'm assuming that you like section thirty one a
- 39:22Speaker 5: little bit better.
- 39:23Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna be perfectly honest with you. I'm
- 39:26Speaker 2: never gonna watch either of these ever. Again, doesn't matter.
- 39:30Speaker 2: I feel like this one, this one, I feel like
- 39:35Speaker 2: they sat down at a diner and they're like, who
- 39:38Speaker 2: can we get Yeah, we can get this one. We
- 39:41Speaker 2: can get this one. We can get this one. But
- 39:44Speaker 2: he's he wants to bring his granddaughter. I'm assuming that's
- 39:46Speaker 2: his granddaughter or something, because she had zero acting ability.
- 39:49Speaker 5: Great great great granddaughter.
- 39:52Speaker 2: I mean, I mean in real life. Oh yeah, I
- 39:56Speaker 2: think this might be his real life granddaughter.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Yeah, the one that gets our hand chopped off.
- 40:01Speaker 3: Yeah, she gets she gets her hand chopped off.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Yes, yes, And.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Now I'm gonna have to go watch the rest of this.
- 40:08Speaker 5: Just kidding. It's still it's still.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Not gonna happen. Uh you know why.
- 40:12Speaker 2: You know why, because I'm still mad at her for
- 40:14Speaker 2: walking at parade rest. You're a military guy, Yeah.
- 40:19Speaker 5: That's gotta that's gotta bother you. Absolutely, you're right.
- 40:25Speaker 2: And they even do it in real Star Trek. Jane
- 40:28Speaker 2: Way did it in the pilot episode of Boys.
- 40:30Speaker 5: They walk with their hands behind your back.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Yes, drives me nuts, drives me nuts. But anyway, I
- 40:36Speaker 2: feel like they got together at a diner. They're all right,
- 40:38Speaker 2: we can get we can get Walter k Nigg. I know,
- 40:41Speaker 2: I know, what's the name, Gary Graham? Is that on screen?
- 40:45Speaker 3: Yep? Yeah, I know we can get Gary Graham.
- 40:47Speaker 2: We get this guy's doing nothing, we can get him, right,
- 40:52Speaker 2: And then they got all these people.
- 40:53Speaker 3: In a room.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Edward Edward forlong just happened to be hanging out with
- 40:59Speaker 4: somebody else when they.
- 41:00Speaker 5: Was just walking by.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Yeah, he was working at Craft Services, and they said,
- 41:06Speaker 2: come out from behind the counter and throwing the doggles.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Can you play a math head? You can't get in there.
- 41:13Speaker 4: You know, I swear that. They they pulled the character
- 41:16Speaker 4: that what's his name played in Blade two, the guy
- 41:22Speaker 4: from The Walking Dead. He was in Blade two. He
- 41:24Speaker 4: was like Blade's mechanic that was really going to betray
- 41:27Speaker 4: him anyway. Oh yeah, yeah, they pulled that character and
- 41:32Speaker 4: they were like, oh, let's put it in a Star
- 41:33Speaker 4: Trek movie.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Now what did you think spoiler alert? What
- 41:40Speaker 5: did you think about his faux sacrifice at the end
- 41:43Speaker 5: of the movie. Did that do anything for you? No,
- 41:46Speaker 5: didn't do anything for you.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Nothing in this movie was earned and didn't make sense.
- 41:51Speaker 4: It's all. It was a series of events as opposed
- 41:54Speaker 4: to a story.
- 41:55Speaker 2: And it was everything was It was a string of
- 41:58Speaker 2: member berries. Yeah remember this guy, this guy, this guy
- 42:02Speaker 2: was from this and he's here, and this one is here.
- 42:05Speaker 2: You don't know them, but they're this person's granddaughter. Yeah,
- 42:09Speaker 2: this person is this person's such and such.
- 42:12Speaker 4: And yeah one of the yeah yeats.
- 42:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:19Speaker 4: Well to give you an example because I started like
- 42:22Speaker 4: overthinking this movie. So they they do. They do two
- 42:27Speaker 4: scenes with the Ragtag Motley Crew. I forget the name
- 42:31Speaker 4: of their ship, but there are main characters, right. They
- 42:34Speaker 4: do one scene where they're all I guess in the
- 42:39Speaker 4: in the galley and they're arguing, like this scene right
- 42:42Speaker 4: here that I have up on the screen.
- 42:44Speaker 3: You know.
- 42:44Speaker 4: At one point, even the the Kardassan gets pinned up
- 42:46Speaker 4: against the wall. They all say they don't trust each other.
- 42:49Speaker 4: And then the next time we see them all together.
- 42:52Speaker 4: They're planning their big heist, right, they're big what they're
- 42:56Speaker 4: gonna do. So we go from I can't trust you too,
- 42:59Speaker 4: now we're just gonna.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Go do this thing.
- 43:03Speaker 4: From a story perspective, right, So what they should have
- 43:06Speaker 4: done is combine those scenes, like, here's the objective, here's
- 43:11Speaker 4: the thing we're gonna need to need to do. Crap,
- 43:14Speaker 4: I don't trust any of you people, How are we
- 43:16Speaker 4: going to get this done?
- 43:17Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 43:19Speaker 4: That would have worked better. But I also think it
- 43:24Speaker 4: felt so string together because maybe they released this as
- 43:26Speaker 4: like little episodes, so they just shot them, you know,
- 43:31Speaker 4: like a scene, and then put it together and we'll
- 43:33Speaker 4: make it work later.
- 43:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, it definitely felt like a fan film. Yeah,
- 43:46Speaker 2: and you know, when you have people of this caliber involved,
- 43:51Speaker 2: it shouldn't feel like a.
- 43:52Speaker 4: Fan film, and a lot of even.
- 43:56Speaker 3: Even even the costumes.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's like, Okay, it would cost a
- 44:02Speaker 2: lot of money to reproduce a whole bunch of Starfleet uniforms,
- 44:07Speaker 2: so we're just gonna design a different one so when
- 44:10Speaker 2: it doesn't look right, it doesn't matter because they all
- 44:12Speaker 2: look the same.
- 44:13Speaker 3: Right.
- 44:13Speaker 5: So yeah, yeah, that's why I was confused. With the
- 44:17Speaker 5: combadge is like, at first I thought it was a
- 44:19Speaker 5: copyright thing. I'm like, hold on, there's a chevron in
- 44:22Speaker 5: the middle of that. They just decided to make it
- 44:25Speaker 5: different for some reason.
- 44:26Speaker 4: Yeah, you can see the combadge right there.
- 44:28Speaker 5: The combat is horrible. Yeah, I mean I can buy
- 44:32Speaker 5: a combat for you know, twenty bucks at a comic con.
- 44:37Speaker 5: And speaking of comic cons, I've seen better car I've
- 44:40Speaker 5: seen better people. I've seen people dressed up better as
- 44:43Speaker 5: Cardassians at comic cons than the Kardassian in this film.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Yeah, he was a little bit rough and I think
- 44:51Speaker 4: he was trying to do his best Garrick impression.
- 44:54Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, uh huh.
- 44:58Speaker 4: Yeah. All the scenes with Robert Riccardo made no sense
- 45:04Speaker 4: to the story. I had nothing to do with the
- 45:06Speaker 4: story at all.
- 45:08Speaker 5: No, he was just there to hey, Robert Riccardo happens
- 45:11Speaker 5: to be driving through Laurel Canyon and yeah, the studio
- 45:15Speaker 5: was flag him down real quick.
- 45:20Speaker 4: He wants to be in the show, but he wants
- 45:21Speaker 4: to be horny, right.
- 45:25Speaker 5: Yeah, that was an uncomfortable scene when they're like, oh,
- 45:27Speaker 5: it almost feels real like you're yeah, well, this tac
- 45:31Speaker 5: tile is getting good I'm like, oh god, please don't stop.
- 45:34Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, back, yeah.
- 45:41Speaker 5: And program Sorry that was my best Janeway.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that was I knew what you were going for.
- 45:49Speaker 3: Don't do it right.
- 45:51Speaker 4: So the reason why I said this was the forgotten
- 45:53Speaker 4: Section thirty one film. I don't even think they even
- 45:56Speaker 4: mentioned it in the movie, but apparently Tuvac is the
- 46:00Speaker 4: head of Section thirty one, and that's what okay, okay,
- 46:04Speaker 4: yeah yeah, so yeah, that's why I was saying, it's
- 46:09Speaker 4: the forgotten Section thirty one.
- 46:10Speaker 3: Which which definitely sounds like something Tuvak would be involved.
- 46:14Speaker 4: In, right, yeah, yeah.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Again, it was a member Barry. Hey remember section thirty one.
- 46:21Speaker 2: They were in D base nine. We're gonna we're gonna
- 46:23Speaker 2: have that here too. Remember you liked it over there,
- 46:26Speaker 2: so you'll like it over here.
- 46:28Speaker 4: There were so many lines that had unforced or you know,
- 46:33Speaker 4: just inserted so much exposition and member barries into them,
- 46:38Speaker 4: like do you remember that mission where we did and
- 46:40Speaker 4: then like they just yeah, yeah, people don't talk that way.
- 46:47Speaker 4: So yeah, but uh, it's on YouTube if people want
- 46:53Speaker 4: to watch it, it's there.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 4: What did you think of the ships? The like like
- 46:59Speaker 4: this style of the three D modeling on the ships.
- 47:03Speaker 3: This looked really good for nineteen ninety maybe.
- 47:10Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I mean the design themselves. My first thought
- 47:14Speaker 5: about the the Archer was my god, that's a huge
- 47:19Speaker 5: deflector dish. It's like, are you overcompensating for.
- 47:24Speaker 4: Something that's right?
- 47:27Speaker 5: It just wants to push everything aside. That's its only
- 47:30Speaker 5: goal in life.
- 47:31Speaker 4: Yes, I I like looking back at an Enterprise. It's
- 47:36Speaker 4: about on par with those graphics. But it's like ten
- 47:39Speaker 4: years later after.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Enterprise, nor the Enterprise is much better than this.
- 47:44Speaker 5: Yeah. Well it was the movement of the ships I
- 47:47Speaker 5: didn't like. I didn't like the movement. Yes, the movement
- 47:50Speaker 5: was was wronganky.
- 47:53Speaker 2: As they're moving through space, like some of the stars
- 47:57Speaker 2: were moving in.
- 47:57Speaker 5: The wrong and when they reposition when they you know,
- 48:01Speaker 5: it was very obvious that it was not a starship movie.
- 48:08Speaker 3: CGI.
- 48:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that all happened too with like using some like
- 48:15Speaker 4: what is that not photoshop? I forgot whatever. It's one
- 48:19Speaker 4: of those programs.
- 48:20Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, but.
- 48:23Speaker 4: It's out there if people want to watch it. I
- 48:26Speaker 4: would not recommend, though it's Yeah. Kevin makes a good point.
- 48:35Speaker 4: The aesthetics are bad, except that it's a fan film.
- 48:37Speaker 4: Section thirty one spend ten times that amount and wasn't
- 48:40Speaker 4: much better. That's true, that's true. Yeah, so there is that.
- 48:47Speaker 4: There is that. And if you just want to like
- 48:50Speaker 4: see old Star Trek, it's different. It's trying. But it
- 48:54Speaker 4: didn't feel like Star Trek to me either.
- 48:57Speaker 5: No. Yeah, it had that same feeling of section thirty
- 49:01Speaker 5: one of like sci fi movie. You know, it looked
- 49:03Speaker 5: like something I would watch on the sci Fi.
- 49:05Speaker 4: Channel, right, but it wasn't there.
- 49:09Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say it again. It look Canadian. Wow,
- 49:17Speaker 2: you know that cheap, that cheaper television.
- 49:20Speaker 5: And there goes our three Canadian listeners.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Is that is that when Chekhov ordered the poutine?
- 49:27Speaker 3: Is that what you said?
- 49:27Speaker 4: We felt Canadian? Yeah?
- 49:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd like any of our Canadian listeners to weigh
- 49:39Speaker 5: in on that.
- 49:40Speaker 2: And and again I'm talking about old, old Canadian, old Canadian.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Because the new stuff, strange New Worlds.
- 49:48Speaker 4: That's all shot in Canada, that's right, and that.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Looks fantastic and I love everything about it. So please,
- 49:55Speaker 2: my Canadian friends, don't don't be too hard on me.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Please. It was weird, Okay, So I feel like I
- 50:06Speaker 3: have to defend this.
- 50:08Speaker 5: I can hear the back Pedaling.
- 50:11Speaker 3: Earth Final Conflict. Do you remember that?
- 50:16Speaker 4: No?
- 50:17Speaker 3: I do, But that was that.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Okay, but that was that other Roddenberry thing, uh, Andromeda,
- 50:25Speaker 2: those other shows that came on after Star Trek when
- 50:28Speaker 2: they started going through Jean's office after he died, and
- 50:32Speaker 2: they were picking up crumpled pieces of paper off the
- 50:34Speaker 2: floor and flattening them out and saying, yeah, this looks
- 50:37Speaker 2: good and we can slap Jean Roddenberry's name on it.
- 50:39Speaker 5: Okay.
- 50:40Speaker 3: The cheap type of production value that was old.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Canadian uh production Okay, And that's what this reminded me
- 50:50Speaker 2: of Robo Cop, the series that was that was shot
- 50:53Speaker 2: in Canada.
- 50:54Speaker 4: What the hell is this show?
- 50:56Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 50:57Speaker 3: It is. You guys don't know this.
- 51:00Speaker 4: No.
- 51:01Speaker 2: And when I say old, I mean old because even
- 51:03Speaker 2: like Battlestar Galactica two thousand and three. Yeah, I'm pretty
- 51:07Speaker 2: sure that's old Canadian. Yeah, that looks and that looks good.
- 51:12Speaker 4: Who's in the back?
- 51:14Speaker 5: How old I am? Battlestar Glack Well, I'm looking at
- 51:17Speaker 5: these tiny little things on it. Yeah, on the screen,
- 51:21Speaker 5: you know, Battlestar Galactor. I'm like, yeah, that's a newer
- 51:23Speaker 5: scie By series. No, it's not.
- 51:26Speaker 3: No, it's twenty two years old at this point.
- 51:28Speaker 5: Yeah, that came out in two thousand and three.
- 51:31Speaker 4: Huh all right, yeah, okay, so well let's should we
- 51:40Speaker 4: get the listener feedback because we're.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Getting serve a bunch of angry Canadians.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Yes, all ye, hey Bud, I don't like that.
- 51:51Speaker 5: Hey Lombardo's Yeah, let's get the listener feedback. I also
- 51:54Speaker 5: have a recommendation too.
- 51:56Speaker 4: Okay, hold on.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Listener feedback.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Sorry, people are people are popping off now? Battle Regalactic
- 52:09Speaker 4: it was awesome. I love the ships in that one. Yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Yeah about Stargate, no, that's trash.
- 52:17Speaker 5: Yeah. I didn't like starget I liked the movie, couldn't
- 52:19Speaker 5: watch the series.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Yeah that's a chat, that's a chat thing. Yeah that's right. Yeah.
- 52:23Speaker 4: Sorry, Who exactly the guy in your basement?
- 52:30Speaker 5: Yeah, we don't use the name on the show. I
- 52:31Speaker 5: don't want him to hear and get all riled up.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Who's the guy who hung out with fat floor with
- 52:37Speaker 2: the South African name? Uh?
- 52:39Speaker 3: South African?
- 52:41Speaker 2: Yeah, cor Yeah, we actually don't say that name in here.
- 52:45Speaker 5: That's right. I have a quick recommendation. Yeah, yeah, I'm reading.
- 52:53Speaker 5: I'm on book three at skip book two. I think
- 52:57Speaker 5: of the Star Trek for the Card novels. Oh so they're
- 53:02Speaker 5: the one. Yes, I'm the one who's actually I'm the
- 53:05Speaker 5: one of probably three people. There's me and two Canadians
- 53:08Speaker 5: that are reading this series. Uh, this one is called.
- 53:11Speaker 3: The Hey, don't drag us into this, right right.
- 53:15Speaker 5: The novels don't have much to do with each other.
- 53:17Speaker 5: They're set all set in different timelines. There was one
- 53:20Speaker 5: that was set why would they link together? No, why
- 53:22Speaker 5: would they link together? They reference each other a little bit,
- 53:25Speaker 5: but not too much. One was based on the time
- 53:28Speaker 5: just before the Synth attacks Tooby Prenicia. This one is
- 53:35Speaker 5: just after Star Trek the Card season one, and it's
- 53:39Speaker 5: basically Raffi trying to figure out what the hell to
- 53:42Speaker 5: do with herself. So I bet you do, I bet
- 53:49Speaker 5: you do. So it explores a little bit. I'm about
- 53:52Speaker 5: halfway through right now, but it explores a little bit.
- 53:54Speaker 5: It time jumps from uh, just after season one a
- 53:57Speaker 5: start off a card to back when Raffi was a
- 54:01Speaker 5: lieutenant and just it was like just after the Dominion War.
- 54:08Speaker 5: So they're on a they're on a secret mission, they're
- 54:11Speaker 5: on a like an official mission. To try to ease
- 54:14Speaker 5: tensions between the Romulins and the Kardassians on a planet
- 54:17Speaker 5: after just after the war. But they're also on a
- 54:19Speaker 5: secret mission to find and apprehend a certain Cardassian that
- 54:25Speaker 5: we all know and love. But I'm not going to
- 54:27Speaker 5: reveal that because it's kind of a spoiler. The this
- 54:31Speaker 5: particular novel gets, it's really gets. There's a lot of
- 54:35Speaker 5: backstory involving that particular timeframe, and it jumps between that
- 54:39Speaker 5: timeframe and and in the future during Star Trek to
- 54:42Speaker 5: card season one just after uh and Eleanor is in it.
- 54:46Speaker 5: It also explains the relationship between Raffiy and el Nore,
- 54:50Speaker 5: and it also explains how Raffi explains her addiction and
- 54:56Speaker 5: what she got addicted to and how, and it's kind
- 54:58Speaker 5: of dumb, but yeah, I'm enjoying it because every once
- 55:04Speaker 5: in a while they reference something that I once saw
- 55:08Speaker 5: on Star Trek. But other than that, I've just got
- 55:10Speaker 5: it as an audiobook that I'm sort of listening to
- 55:13Speaker 5: mindlessly driving down the road. Yep, exact. So this one
- 55:19Speaker 5: wasn't This one is not turning out to be a
- 55:22Speaker 5: great novel. The one that I read before that had
- 55:24Speaker 5: to do with the The USS Titan. That was was
- 55:28Speaker 5: a good one.
- 55:29Speaker 4: Are you actually reading our audiobook?
- 55:30Speaker 5: Okay, audiobook?
- 55:32Speaker 4: Fair enough.
- 55:33Speaker 5: I'm not really literate, so yeah, I don't. I don't
- 55:37Speaker 5: do the reading stuff.
- 55:38Speaker 4: I played through the Teddy Rex mean, and I listened
- 55:40Speaker 4: to the books that.
- 55:41Speaker 5: Way exactly exactly. I read somewhere or maybe I've heard
- 55:45Speaker 5: it somewhere that listening to an audiobook fires the same
- 55:49Speaker 5: parts of the brain that reading does.
- 55:50Speaker 3: I don't know if that's true.
- 55:51Speaker 5: But since I you know, since I drive for a living,
- 55:55Speaker 5: it gives me, you know, an opportunity to listen to audiobooks,
- 55:58Speaker 5: so that's what I do.
- 55:59Speaker 3: Yeah, all right cool.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Uh. We did get one piece of feedback from Kevin
- 56:04Speaker 4: uh in the Facebook group, saying that he can tell
- 56:08Speaker 4: that this was referring to the Renegades story, that the
- 56:14Speaker 4: storyline is what carries the narrative in that section, thirty
- 56:18Speaker 4: one spent a ton of money. This still has nothing
- 56:21Speaker 4: to say. Uh, it's not for a new audience unless
- 56:24Speaker 4: they're playing stupid. So yeah, oh jeez, hey Wolf, welcome
- 56:31Speaker 4: to book club. Yeah, and then we got jazz was
- 56:37Speaker 4: on the line, so let me bring it in.
- 56:38Speaker 5: I actually got an email from an email from Kevin.
- 56:42Speaker 4: Oh okay, yeah.
- 56:44Speaker 5: And he just said, just real quick, I'll go real quick. Yeah, Hey,
- 56:50Speaker 5: it's Kevin Trek on YouTube or Kevin. He explains how
- 56:54Speaker 5: to pronounce his name Lee Lee like oh like lung
- 56:59Speaker 5: so Lee Leon. Just to give you some help, Kevin,
- 57:03Speaker 5: Kevin Leon is Yeah, yeah, yeah, he says, I'm a fan.
- 57:07Speaker 5: He listens to us on YouTube. He sees some YouTube
- 57:11Speaker 5: channels that have chats where they can just talk about
- 57:14Speaker 5: sci fi, some movies in general, more as a live
- 57:16Speaker 5: stream where people can chime in. He suggested we we
- 57:21Speaker 5: uh try that to get a bigger audience. Oh kind
- 57:25Speaker 5: of seems like yeah, okay, yeah, but that was his suggestion.
- 57:30Speaker 5: So just hi, Kevin, thanks for sending the email. Appreciate it.
- 57:33Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks for bringing in. Yeah, all right, let's get
- 57:36Speaker 4: Jazmins in because he's been waiting. Jazz busy there. Oh no,
- 57:42Speaker 4: oh there he is. Okay, yeah, he had frozen for
- 57:44Speaker 4: a second.
- 57:44Speaker 9: I saw it. I was like circling.
- 57:47Speaker 4: I was like, oh no, yeah, that.
- 57:56Speaker 9: Did you guys think this movie is made by AI.
- 57:59Speaker 4: Kind of felt that way the script at least could
- 58:03Speaker 4: have been could have been.
- 58:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean just I was checking the hands.
- 58:08Speaker 9: Yeah, checking the hands in the background.
- 58:10Speaker 4: What popcorn book did you get with the movie?
- 58:13Speaker 5: Oh man?
- 58:14Speaker 8: Yeah, the White Klingon or whatever. Yeah, that's the first
- 58:23Speaker 8: time I've ever heard that the White Klingon?
- 58:28Speaker 4: Is that the god center of the back of jazz
- 58:30Speaker 4: with Yes, we have said that a few times.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Yes, you know I.
- 58:34Speaker 9: Have a there it is? Yeah, you a better angle. Yeah,
- 58:39Speaker 9: I probably have better props than the movie.
- 58:41Speaker 3: Did So?
- 58:44Speaker 4: Did you watch Renegade?
- 58:46Speaker 9: I watched it at two times speed, because.
- 58:50Speaker 8: And watch it when you're watching something a few times,
- 58:56Speaker 8: thought of.
- 58:57Speaker 3: That I could have got through.
- 58:58Speaker 5: Yes, that kid get distracted? Did you want star drinking? Okay,
- 59:04Speaker 5: that's great.
- 59:06Speaker 9: Wait a minute, and you find out.
- 59:09Speaker 3: Maybe I would have got annoyed with it.
- 59:11Speaker 8: No, you find out who the bad actors are, because
- 59:14Speaker 8: at two times speed you can really find out.
- 59:20Speaker 4: The popcorn bucket would be that weird arm device ead?
- 59:25Speaker 5: Oh god? That was that was the wor c g
- 59:27Speaker 5: I in the whole movie. Yeah, I wonder if people
- 59:30Speaker 5: listen to our podcast at more than regular speed.
- 59:34Speaker 8: I'm gonna say each ab actually look kind of cool
- 59:37Speaker 8: right there, actually kind of badass.
- 59:42Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna agree that that is the thing
- 59:44Speaker 3: that you said.
- 59:45Speaker 4: Yes, that's right, Well you.
- 59:47Speaker 3: Actually did.
- 59:50Speaker 4: On a.
- 59:54Speaker 9: Star trekf a card. They drilled his eye out. Remember
- 59:58Speaker 9: they tortured him.
- 59:59Speaker 5: Ye, it wasn't even him, it was a different actor.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Idiots you killed.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: That's right, Well they did that. The reason why they
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: did that is they couldn't use the original actor because
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: that actor would have been much older. Because what happened
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: to each happened to him. My head canon says, just
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: after this movie has already checked out. He doesn't care.
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: It makes no difference to him this movie. He wouldn't
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: have cared.
- 1:00:30Speaker 8: Scott's listened to a book about Rafi, so yeah, credibility.
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: Yes, don't worry. I'll send you a physical hard copy
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: of it.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Dan, Please.
- 1:00:44Speaker 9: The one character we do not care about is Raffi.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: So you can, you can. I'll send you the book.
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: You can write about it in your journal. I found
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: the guy that bought it in your yards, and I
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: bought it from him and I paid double. Also, I
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: paid a dollar for it.
- 1:01:02Speaker 10: And I'm going to send it back to you. Thanks,
- 1:01:21Speaker 10: and then I'll take a picture of it.
- 1:01:23Speaker 9: See that's the problem with comic books is they're over priced.
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: Right now, Like, oh yeah, everything is what.
- 1:01:29Speaker 9: Six bucks is a lot of money for a comic book.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: It's a one shot?
- 1:01:33Speaker 9: What's a one shot? But six dollars that's that's a
- 1:01:36Speaker 9: lot of money.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: Like that's a marketing tool. Well this is really expensive,
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: but we're not going to make it anymore so, right story.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: Yeah, but think about this way that that comic book
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: is set to appreciate in value because nobody wants it.
- 1:01:50Speaker 8: Yes, yes, yeah, I'll be at vintage stock in my
- 1:01:55Speaker 8: local area. Yep, yeah, I'll be on the shelf for free.
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: So yeah, for pay six bucks that they promised not
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: to make another one?
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, but.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: Yeah, so you didn't like it either, then h two
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: times feed.
- 1:02:13Speaker 8: No, the act was was pretty pretty bad m h.
- 1:02:20Speaker 8: And it's funny that the Klingons actually sounded pretty good on.
- 1:02:25Speaker 9: Two times speed. I was, I bet yeah, you know they're.
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: Actually probably Yeah, but but go on YouTube next time
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: and throw it on two times speed and you'll.
- 1:02:39Speaker 9: Find out it's real funny.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: So you have to catch that audio and turn it
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: into a sound bite.
- 1:02:46Speaker 8: Yeah, we need to find like some of the bad
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: acting parts and put it on the like clip it
- 1:02:52Speaker 8: out and put it on the Facebook group or something.
- 1:02:56Speaker 9: What it is, but somebody would have to watch the
- 1:02:59Speaker 9: movie again.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: Laws War. I've heard of Lords War?
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: Nice. Dan just says, can you get that?
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: O K Forever Project says, have you guys checked out
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: the comic laws War? I've seen it. I haven't read it.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Comic.
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: What are you guys? What's going on here? What's the photo?
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, let me let me bring it up here.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: I'm gonna send you an album that iound.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, there it is.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: Oh yeah, oh what in the I remember?
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: You can listen to while you're reading your books.
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: A little bit of around.
- 1:03:46Speaker 8: Yeah, I hate Drives all the time. He has his
- 1:03:49Speaker 8: background music too. He could listen to the book and
- 1:03:52Speaker 8: have that as background music.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: The original Miss Rachel.
- 1:03:58Speaker 9: Oh my god, is that what he's saying?
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: Is that from that?
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: Right now.
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: Yes, welcome to Rappid cast.
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: Think the guy.
- 1:04:25Speaker 9: Every concert is like put the apples bananas song? Please,
- 1:04:28Speaker 9: that's our song? Request, you gotta you gotta play it.
- 1:04:35Speaker 8: Oh, some poor parents get dragged to that concert and
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: have to sit there and listen to that.
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: You're making me think about that. You know, this was
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: a surreal experience. Being on Treckcast, it's not anymore. Sorry.
- 1:04:51Speaker 8: Sorry, It's kind of like I always wonder why my
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: mom would never take me to Sting Me Street Live,
- 1:04:57Speaker 8: and I was like, oh, that's like now even well
- 1:05:01Speaker 8: she's dead.
- 1:05:02Speaker 11: But she can't really take me there, so definitely not Yeah,
- 1:05:09Speaker 11: definitely yeah, sorry mom.
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: Uh, well, my mom is very much alive.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: Hi Mom, you guys gonna go to Susame Street now?
- 1:05:20Speaker 9: Yeah, you guys me straight line? Tell us all.
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: About let us know how that goes.
- 1:05:25Speaker 8: Yeah, let's see a album.
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: Oh but yes, But before I forget, I should talk
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: about what we're going to do in our next episode.
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: We're working with some other Star Trek podcasts. We're going
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: to do a crossover episode, and what we're going to
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: talk about is a status report on Star Trek, how
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: we feel the franchise is currently going. I have developed
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: a a survey for for people to fill out. We
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: just want to kind of get an idea where you
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: guys think the franchise is. Are you so excited about
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: Star Trek? Are you not those sorts of things? What
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: do you think about the future. I'm pulling some stats
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: to go with it too, So just opinion.
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: Five bullet points of what we think about Star Trek right.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: Now, Yeah, kind of. No, it's a multiple choice survey.
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: I'll take you less than thirty seconds to fill out.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: I'll put in the Facebook group and all our socials
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: for people to check out as well.
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: But it'll kind of be like the survey that was
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: done for the polls for the Star Trek Award or
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: the Strekcast Awards. But it won't be corrupt.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: That's right.
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: And just to let you guys know, my investigation on
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: that is ongoing. I've made some serious I've made some
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: serious inroads into that. I've there's some evidence that has
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: come to light. It's an ongoing investigation, so I can't
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: discuss it. That's right, I'll be I'll be issuing a
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: statement sometime in the near future.
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: Kevin asked what other shows are joining us. We've got
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: the the It's Got Star Trek podcast. I think Trek
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: Geeks might be joining us, and I think the pod
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: rates might be joined us as well. So so we're
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: gonna finalize those. But what we do, we got a
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: couple of odes, so uh yeah, so it'll be good.
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: That'll be next Sunday and we'll have those guys on.
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: I think the Star Trek Cruise has taken off today,
- 1:07:28Speaker 8: so oh is it? Yeah, it is one of my
- 1:07:31Speaker 8: other podcasts. It's a Star Trek Play Command. Want to
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: listen to you. It's the game, it's the video game.
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: You know that the online game.
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: I guess no, I don't like it. I like it.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: They let you be on the show all the time.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, okay, watch it. You know, I'm I'm an
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: administrator on the Facebook group.
- 1:07:53Speaker 7: So okay, okay, that's right, Like, okay, I'm sorry, you
- 1:08:05Speaker 7: don't want to go in the basement.
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: Okay, yeah, what's funny?
- 1:08:10Speaker 8: Because Mike Medina messaged me and when to play Star
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: Trek Fleet Command. Yeah, and so I was like, okay,
- 1:08:17Speaker 8: you know, let's get you in my group, get you
- 1:08:20Speaker 8: in my server, I asked the guy am the servers like, hey,
- 1:08:23Speaker 8: can Mike Medina join?
- 1:08:25Speaker 9: And the guys like seeing the other alliance, are you
- 1:08:29Speaker 9: a spy?
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: Blah blah blah, wouldn't.
- 1:08:32Speaker 8: Let him in there, And I'm like it was like,
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: how do you know? This guy was like from a
- 1:08:36Speaker 8: Facebook group? What Facebook group are you talking about?
- 1:08:40Speaker 9: Like trek cast? What is trek Cast? I was like,
- 1:08:43Speaker 9: what the hell is going on?
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: Is what cast? How are they.
- 1:08:51Speaker 9: The best podcast in the world.
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: So that's right, you tell him.
- 1:09:00Speaker 9: I'll just show you the message on there. It's pretty funny.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: This guy was like, so did you get him in
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: or no?
- 1:09:06Speaker 9: No, he will let him. Let him in.
- 1:09:08Speaker 8: He was like, well he's going to join another alliance.
- 1:09:10Speaker 8: He's not the high enough level right now.
- 1:09:12Speaker 9: Blah blah blah.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: Wow, there's some serious opsect going on.
- 1:09:17Speaker 9: Well there's money in this game. These these people are crazy.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Did you did you? Did you resign and protest?
- 1:09:26Speaker 9: I'm like, been in there for years?
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: Did you not money in this game?
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: That's right?
- 1:09:31Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm talking about people spend thousands of dollars like
- 1:09:37Speaker 8: this game, like you'll see thousands. That's why the other
- 1:09:43Speaker 8: podcast gets to go on the Star Trek cruise because
- 1:09:46Speaker 8: they're promoting it.
- 1:09:47Speaker 9: Okay, that's how you do it.
- 1:09:50Speaker 8: You you get in with one of these games, you know,
- 1:09:53Speaker 8: and then you get on the cruise to get to
- 1:09:55Speaker 8: meet the peeps.
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: So a Wolfsons blaspheming, how did they no? Treck Cast? Yeah,
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: you need to start representing.
- 1:10:04Speaker 9: Okay, right, I'll change my name.
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: Cast. There you go.
- 1:10:09Speaker 9: There you go number one fan.
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: All right, well it feels like we're winding down, so
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: that's probably good. Yeah.
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: Hey, I'd like to make I'd like to make a
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: plead everybody. I want to hear some voicemails. I want
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: to hear some voicemails. So please, uh dial up the
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: number that I'm about to read off the screen.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: Yeah, let me get there.
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: That number is the one five seven zero six six
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: one zero zero zero one. So dial five seven zero
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: six six one zero zero zero one. This is a
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: Google voicemail kind of thing. Nobody's gonna answer, yeah when
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: you call it.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: For for especially for next week's podcast, tell us what
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: you think about the status trick going. Are you excited
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: about it? Are you excited for the future?
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Are you in turn?
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: What things do you like? What things are you worried about?
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: Let us know five seven zero six six to one
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: zero zero zero one. It'll be great to play that
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: on the on the show next week.
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: And if you want us to read an email, send
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: us like a short email answering the same question, what
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: do you think of the state of Star Trek. You
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: can send the email to Trek cast TG at gmail
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: dot com, or you can send it one to me
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: at Strongbeard one seven zero one at gmail dot com
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: and we'll read your We'll read your email on the air.
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: So what do you think is the state of Star
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: Trek right now?
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: And then also we're on the social media's as well
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: at trek Cast TG, I'm basically all the socials. So yeah,
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: we'd love to talk to you guys and uh and connect.
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: Interact with all the social media stuff because the more
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: you interact, the more you click on the like and
- 1:11:59Speaker 5: and all that kind of stuff, the more the algorithm
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: thinks that were cool and important.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: So that's right, we got a fool of Come on.
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: Got to fool that algorithm. Yeah, I got a full control.
