- 0:29Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Poop on this fine Memorial Day. I would like to talk to you
- 0:34about courage because one of the most prevalent pieces about
- 0:41Memorial day that I've always recognized is the fact that the
- 0:45courage it takes to put yourself on the line and say, I'm going
- 0:50to go out there and I'm going to, you know, honor and protect
- 0:54our country is huge, it's beyond all measure and it's not
- 0:59something that I personally have ever taken on.
- 1:02I know that there are many women out there that do that and I
- 1:06honor them for that. It's never something I've done
- 1:09or thought of although when I was in high school, I was, you
- 1:12know, repeatedly asked to join the Army and I repeatedly said,
- 1:16no, because it was just not my thing, but I will say the fact
- 1:22that there are so many people that we are blessed to have in
- 1:26this country that sign up and to go and do this, their courage is
- 1:30pal. Be able to do something like
- 1:31that, going into the unknown and not knowing what it means for
- 1:35you and signing up. And then just basically being at
- 1:38the will of whatever the government tells you, you have
- 1:42to do to me, that kind of Courage is something we can all
- 1:47learn from, because it's really stepping into the unknown.
- 1:51And saying, I don't know and I trust that the training I have
- 1:56will carry me through it when it's necessary.
- 1:59And to me that's the part that I really Wanted to hone in on
- 2:01today is the training that they go through.
- 2:05Is so intense and so difficult, but it has to be and it yields
- 2:11amazing results. So when you stop you pause and
- 2:14you really think about this this entire process that they go
- 2:19through one, could really come back to the fact that once again
- 2:23we're having a conversation about the habits and the way
- 2:26things happen to layout and the habits It's that they create for
- 2:32them to habits that they put into place for them.
- 2:35They teach them certain things, they put them through these
- 2:37experiences, that are difficult, really difficult, so that they
- 2:41are prepared. And it's such a great metaphor
- 2:45for life in general, because you have to, you know, look at it
- 2:49and extrapolate from those things.
- 2:51When you start to really think about it, right from doesn't
- 2:54matter. Even if you're, if you're a
- 2:56Cadet at West Point, or you're at, you know, Any any school
- 3:02that's going to put you through that kind of training?
- 3:06Think about that, it's not easy. Right?
- 3:08From the very beginning, they make it hard, they make it hard
- 3:11so that when you get there, it becomes easier, it's kind of
- 3:15like the time I spent at Tony Robbins working there, they
- 3:19would put you through these really difficult situations and
- 3:22part of the reason that they did that was so that when you did go
- 3:25out and you were in the world of coaching and you were doing
- 3:29these things, your situations seemed far less intense than
- 3:34your training. Therefore it was easy.
- 3:36Easy there for you were prepared.
- 3:37And I think a lot of that is exactly the mindset that the
- 3:41military goes through, you know, the David Goggins book that
- 3:45they're everyone's been talking about that particular piece of
- 3:49the puzzle is always about the training.
- 3:53The Mind Set the piece of it, you rely on the training.
- 3:57So the question you have to ask yourself is is courage inherent
- 4:00or is courage trained? Well, I think it's a little bit
- 4:03of both. I think when you sign up, You
- 4:06have the courage to step into the unknown, but then you have
- 4:09the courage to continue. As you're going through it, you
- 4:12have the courage to say, I'm going to stick it out, and I'm
- 4:14going to have my training, help me, and that's the piece.
- 4:18That's so important. You can train these things into
- 4:22yourself here that you can train them into yourself habits, can
- 4:28be trained. The that level of confidence can
- 4:33be trained that level of Courage can be trained.
- 4:36And but you have to be consistent and you have to stick
- 4:38with it. It's really hard to ask other
- 4:41people to do things that you're not willing to do yourself.
- 4:45I think that's probably one of the biggest things for me and
- 4:48coaching that I always remember is that I will not ask my
- 4:52clients to do things that I myself am struggling doing.
- 4:56That's why I keep such a, I guess in tents set up for myself
- 5:03because I can't expect anybody else to do.
- 5:05What Not willing to do and that's part of the mindset of
- 5:10greatness, right? You're going to go in there,
- 5:13you're going to set those goals. You're going to have courage
- 5:17really work on them. Set the habits up to keep them
- 5:20and then go for them, but it takes that initial piece of
- 5:24courage. And on this day, you know,
- 5:27everyone in this country remember is that it mean that
- 5:30this holiday is interesting because it's been going on for a
- 5:33very, very long time and it was not thought of as Memorial Day.
- 5:36Originally it was thought of a decoration day where you would
- 5:38go and decorate the graves back in the 1800's but it transformed
- 5:43over time. And here we are with it now.
- 5:46And and to me, one of the most important things about
- 5:51remembering, all of this is to stop, pause and honor their
- 5:54courage and thank them for being willing in the, not just for
- 5:59their service. But in the beginning, just to
- 6:02even make the decision, thank you for being so brave that you
- 6:05would do something. I'm like that.
- 6:06Thank you for your courage. So I hope that you find your
- 6:10courage today. This week, this year and
- 6:13whatever is going on. And I hope you have a blessed
- 6:15day and say a prayer for all those that did this for us.
- 6:20All right. My friends have a blessed day.
- 6:22Bye.
