- 2:11Welcome to the Underground Bunker Studio.
- 2:14I'm trucker mouth and you're on the road.
- 2:18How is everybody doing out there?
- 2:19Beautiful day up here, man. Beautiful day up here.
- 2:21I'm repping the fellows, man. You know, we beat the powers
- 2:24last night and all right before we get started on the cargo that
- 2:28thing, the Department of Commerce published the final
- 2:31rule on January 16th addressing the import of connected vehicle
- 2:35or components from Russia or People's Republic of China.
- 2:38OK, good thing. It's a good thing that they
- 2:41think they're coming over with already having this file.
- 2:44They're building them. Certain technologies are
- 2:48originating from China, Russia presenting undeal or unaccepted
- 2:51risks to the US now security. OK, I agree with that.
- 2:57I agree with that, but this is supposed to take take place the
- 3:01software rated permission to take place in fact mount of year
- 3:042027 and the hardware related prohibitions are set for model
- 3:07year 2030. OK, but it doesn't pertain to
- 3:11big trucks. OK, turn pissy trucker mouse
- 3:16Stone Age here man. I take clippings, I write things
- 3:19down and I research things. I don't have three screens and a
- 3:22bunch of other people help me out in the back, you know?
- 3:25Well, I have stuff in the background bud.
- 3:27As far as as far as doing my research, everything's on me and
- 3:30for now, this is how I'm doing it.
- 3:33The fire rule implies the vehicles weighing less than
- 3:3510,001 pounds, 10,001 lbs. So that that's a lot of your
- 3:42pickup trucks may more way more than that.
- 3:46Why would why would you not include hardware and software
- 3:53and and and technology from big trucks, from large cars into
- 3:58this into this ruling? It makes no sense.
- 4:01You do a whole lot more damage with a a big truck.
- 4:03You get them a car and a car too, but it just it just truck
- 4:07them out. Don't like it.
- 4:09He'd put a hammer down and he said it's why ain't it across
- 4:11the board? Why ain't it stuff from Republic
- 4:14of China, People's Republic of China and Russia?
- 4:17Why ain't it across the border with this stuff?
- 4:19It, it don't make any sense. You know them Elds that, that,
- 4:23that all the trucks have and anybody who knows anything about
- 4:25transportation, it's electronic logging devices.
- 4:29And the Colorado State University did it, did a, did a,
- 4:33did a study on them. And Elds are vulnerable to cyber
- 4:37attacks. The Elds are synchronized with a
- 4:40vehicle with engines. When it ends the throttle
- 4:45automatic records drivers off 31 duty transfer hours of service.
- 4:48It records everything but also is linked to the the throttle
- 4:54which is electronic. There's no more linkage anymore.
- 4:56It's all electronics and the University of Colorado
- 4:59researcher hacked into the Elds to gain access to truckers
- 5:03accelerator and to effective malicious wealth malware.
- 5:08So that shows you can be done. I mean, it's just trucker mouth
- 5:13thought that was a bunch of idiots that should have been
- 5:14across the board. Put the hammer down on them.
- 5:17Now tis the season for cargo theft.
- 5:19Cargo theft rises during major holidays.
- 5:22We got 1 coming up next week. It's Memorial Day.
- 5:25The trucker mouth that's a big holiday and this it spikes over
- 5:32the holidays and you got it. The reason being that a lot of
- 5:39these distribution centers are closed and you got people taking
- 5:46their trucks home with them and which I did, you know, I'm sure
- 5:49where your town you live in or city that you see trucks sitting
- 5:52around. That's because they're home and
- 5:56that's when people know that that it's the most vulnerable.
- 6:00It's it's the most how tis the season is the most you know,
- 6:05holidays are the most ones with cargo temple.
- 6:07I said three times. I'm sorry, but that's the
- 6:12reason. And also they know that these
- 6:16distribution centers have long lines and a lot of times they're
- 6:20backed up and you got trucks sitting out there in
- 6:24distribution center all along the road and all they're making
- 6:27targets for it. Right now they're seeing 100%
- 6:31increase across all verticals of cargo theft, whether the the
- 6:35products targeted or various models or they're just using
- 6:40whether that products targeted over the various monitor.
- 6:43See, there's only certain trucks that haul these trucking
- 6:49companies that haul these electronics and high dollar
- 6:52goods. You have, you have truck truck
- 6:54companies that are dedicated to these places, OK.
- 6:58And you, they know which ones hauling, hauling the, they know
- 7:06which ones are hauling the expensive goods and they target
- 7:09them. And you know, that's, that's,
- 7:14that's the gist of it, what they ought to do.
- 7:17Well, hold on. First off, the first half of
- 7:212024 company noted that a 49% surge in thefts over the first
- 7:25half of 2023. OK, criminals are not only more
- 7:32organized, but they're also track tracking loads.
- 7:34They're following these trucks track loads as they leave
- 7:37warehouse distribution centers known to store valuable products
- 7:40way too straight when vehicles left vulnerable.
- 7:43See what these trucking companies ought to do, like
- 7:45Hardy does over here in New York.
- 7:47OK. They, they, they, when they're
- 7:49hauling motorcycles, they use teams.
- 7:54And that truck doesn't stop. That truck doesn't stop.
- 7:59It stops for fuel. I guess they stopped, you know,
- 8:02breadthroom, you know, if they have to stop, they stop, but
- 8:05that truck keeps rolling until them truck gets where it's it's
- 8:08going to deliver them motorcycles.
- 8:11And that's what these places ought to do.
- 8:13They ought to they ought to run teams.
- 8:15You know, if you're holding all kind of electronics and and high
- 8:19dollar goods, run teams with them.
- 8:21Don't let them sit around to these people to break into
- 8:25because they know what happens was a lot of these trucking
- 8:27companies are or a lot of these thieves or getting them within
- 8:31the 1st 250 miles of leaving the distribution center.
- 8:34That's why they're telling them don't stop the first couple
- 8:37hours you leave here because they're following you and, and,
- 8:42and, and, and it's, you know, it's not just, you know, thieves
- 8:48and masks cutting trailer locks. When you think of cargo theft,
- 8:51it's more hands off approach. Oh, they're, they're, they're
- 8:56they're tire loads being picked up or never delivered or
- 9:03delivered with digitally ordered paperwork to hide the theft from
- 9:06the customer. Yeah, they're they're they're
- 9:08picking up loads. They're they're he knows the I
- 9:11did a whole show last week on cargo theft.
- 9:13I didn't touch on on on the the holidays.
- 9:16The holidays are are are are prime time.
- 9:20You have a large increase in cargo theft over holidays, like
- 9:24I said, because of the other trucks sit around and and your
- 9:27distribution centers that are closed down so you won't protect
- 9:34against cargo theft. You know, they recommend, you
- 9:36know, range same day delivered for short haul, short haul
- 9:39shipments embed cover tracking the yeah, tracking the voices
- 9:45for sure use kingpin locks. You know, avoid having trailers
- 9:49sit on a 10 of course, and they also caution drivers don't stop,
- 9:56you know, especially within 250 miles of a pickup and be a leg
- 10:00out for any anything suspicious. So you know, you really got to
- 10:05watch it. You're going to watch see this
- 10:06is so this this this is so bad. This epidemic is so bad with the
- 10:10scar go down that's affecting the supply chain affects the
- 10:13supply chain. It's going to affect the economy
- 10:14effects of economy, it's affecting us.
- 10:17OK, so we got to really stop it man.
- 10:20Is everybody going to put a hands on approach here, man?
- 10:22Because it's out of control. It's out of control.
- 10:27You got you got California, Texas and Illinois are the big
- 10:32three and there's entities, there's entities in all them in
- 10:38them states. Everybody knows, you know,
- 10:40there's, there's, there's organized crime and, and, and
- 10:44cartels in in California shore in Texas and Illinois.
- 10:48We know who's up there and they just have to we're it's
- 10:57everybody's job to watch the cargo theft man High volumes of
- 11:02organized crime Safeguarding or Supply chain Act aims to improve
- 11:07communication between federal agencies and state and local law
- 11:09enforcement to curb Korgo theft, particularly in regions
- 11:12experience the high volumes of organized crime.
- 11:15That's a no brainer man. If the approved legislation
- 11:19would establish supply chain crime coordination center.
- 11:22All right, they're doing everything they can.
- 11:23I mean they got the FBI on here to the homeland security's
- 11:26involved. We created the bill would also
- 11:29create a supply chain fraud and theft task force.
- 11:32They got a a committee of task force, an organization, whatever
- 11:35goddamn thing prize of Homeland Security, FBI and local state
- 11:40authorities. So we're really cracking down on
- 11:43this man and it's everybody's job because it's affecting all
- 11:48of us. I never hold a whole lot of high
- 11:52dollar stuff. I mean, not that I'm aware of.
- 11:55I did a lot of food. Now I know they're doing like
- 11:58energy drinks and they're targeting high dollar foods like
- 12:01that, but I don't know a whole lot of like dog foods and stuff
- 12:09like that. See, not everybody, not
- 12:11everybody can hold it. High end stuff.
- 12:13You got to have the insurance and you got dedicated fleets to
- 12:17them. Not everybody.
- 12:19You don't just get, they don't just get a common carrier to go
- 12:21pick up a load worth $1,000,000 and they have people dedicated
- 12:26to that or they have their own trucks.
- 12:28And like I said, what these companies ought to do is run
- 12:30teams. It's like Hardy does.
- 12:33And that way the truck don't stop and get where they're
- 12:39going. So yeah, we got a big holiday
- 12:46coming up next week. It's Memorial Day.
- 12:48And like I said, Chalker Mountain is a big holiday out.
- 12:52It's one of your wonder major. It's one of your majors of the
- 12:54year. So everybody got to be on the
- 12:56lookout for cargo thefts around your area.
- 13:00If you see any suspicious, call your local or state authorities
- 13:05and report it, man, because it could affect us, could affect us
- 13:14in a big way. Oh heck.
- 13:21Oh, there. Luckily there's not a lot of
- 13:26doing hijacks and hurting drivers.
- 13:28Luckily that's not happening. Not that I'm aware of.
- 13:31I haven't heard of any real situations like that, that
- 13:36they're, you know, like they did back in the late 60s and 70s and
- 13:39all people high tracking trailers and taking drivers
- 13:42hostage and unload them and putting them back at her.
- 13:44Damn, putting them back at her, her truck and putting them in
- 13:48there or locking them in there or something.
- 13:50Man, that's no good, man, that's no good.
- 13:53That's no good to do that. OK, so we're going to go to
- 13:59commercial break here. When we come back, it's road
- 14:02rage, I guess. Autonomous driver this self
- 14:09driving taxis when we come back on the trucker mouse show.
- 17:00devoted. Military broadcast radio The

- 17:12Opinions expressed in this program are those of the
- 17:15speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions
- 17:20of any entities they represent. Road rage.
- 17:26It's time for road rage. You're on a trucker Mountain
- 17:33show, Dave. We're going to talk about self
- 17:35driving Thomas taxis. We're going to rage him out and
- 17:41come on. All right, welcome back to
- 17:45Trucker Mountain show. Today we're going to road rage
- 17:49about time and self driving taxis.
- 17:51Some things you got to think about before getting into one.
- 17:53OK, these things are wrecking all the goddamn place.
- 17:57Several companies, major self driving car companies have
- 18:00issued recalls over the past year due to safety issues.
- 18:06Yeah, they're safe issues. They're not testing their
- 18:09they're not testing their their own technology before before
- 18:13putting them out in the street. Not not long enough evidently.
- 18:17Come to call Wayne Lou actually recalled 12112 self driving
- 18:21units equipped with tip generation automated driving
- 18:25systems, ADS software, mobile collisions with stationary
- 18:29objects 16 between 2022 and 2024 the National Transportation
- 18:35Highway Safety Administration scrutinized Waymo.
- 18:38There was actually no injuries involved.
- 18:41Actually, they were they were lower speed and the ones we're
- 18:44talking about now, the lower speed ones, they're there was
- 18:49they were told said there was fences, there was post low
- 18:54impact ones like that. But also, you know, these, you
- 18:58know, these cars might be targeted.
- 19:00Now I think about it, because you can tell when these when
- 19:03these self driving car they got this thing up top spin around
- 19:06like the Spectra gadget. You know, people probably
- 19:08testing them. I'm sure these kids nowadays,
- 19:12they're probably testing these things and and seeing what you
- 19:15know, what they can can make them stop or slow down or
- 19:18whatever they're doing. I imagine that's going on, but
- 19:22see, I wasn't going to run rage on this Waymo and tell them why
- 19:25don't you make it hard for them to get in the country.
- 19:28I originally was doing it before I actually started looking into
- 19:30Waymo. Waymo is actually from the
- 19:34United States are actually out of originally out of California.
- 19:39Actually, it's a Google product and I'd I'd looked into him
- 19:43extra software and they made their own software for the cars.
- 19:46So that kind of blows my rage on them.
- 19:48I mean, I was going to say, well, get these dudes, you know,
- 19:51make sure that they can't come in the country and buy American,
- 19:54you know, Tester makes them. They're a big name.
- 20:00Who's everyone? General Motors with the All
- 20:01right, let me see here once with the Cruise.
- 20:09What is that GM? The GM has the Cruise, the
- 20:12testing and GM have autonomous taxis and.
- 20:17But you can't buy, you can't buy these Waymo truck cars.
- 20:20They're all you can't bomb. They're they're they're just for
- 20:27just for this rideshare people and stuff like that there.
- 20:34Yeah. So that they've been wrecking
- 20:36all her damn place. This is Waymo's third recall,
- 20:402024. They recalled 400 collision, 400
- 20:44self driving vehicles collisions with OK, there was a collision
- 20:50with a towed pickup truck that it ran into.
- 20:54So that's pretty bad. You run into a vehicle that's
- 20:57being towed, that's pretty bad. That's worse than a low impact.
- 21:05So June twenty, 24670 where you called in for a car crash in the
- 21:09telephone pole. So this way move like I said, I
- 21:11was going to road rage and say well, keep out of country we'll
- 21:14buy American. But they're out of character
- 21:16actually a Google product and they make their own software.
- 21:19So trucker mouth should have washed his truck or mouth before
- 21:23he before he started Rd. raging on them.
- 21:27Yeah, but they need to test their vehicles more than they
- 21:34are because the stationary object could be someone standing
- 21:37on a corner, you know, could be. So we're staying at a bus stop,
- 21:44you know, I mean, and you know, just because it's just because
- 21:46everywhere they were stationary objects don't make it any safer.
- 21:51And like I said, I'm sure these people were.
- 21:54I'm sure these people were testing these cars.
- 21:56If I was young, I wouldn't be. You can say, you can tell them
- 21:58I'm going to inspect your guys, think spin around a barrier.
- 22:02So this way. MO also had flagged by the
- 22:05National Highway Transportation Safety Administration nine other
- 22:10minor collisions with similar barriers between February 24 and
- 22:13December 24. So this play these dudes are
- 22:16wrecking all over the place is Waymo's.
- 22:19And yeah, they need, they need to test their technology before
- 22:23they put it on the road. Evidently now they have a lot of
- 22:27them out there. There's there's a lot of them.
- 22:30Waymo's out there evidently probably more than any any other
- 22:38ones, but before he used to start making the money look out
- 22:44for the public safety and that's what trucker miles raging about.
- 22:49OK, so Waymo provides more than 250,000 paid trips every week in
- 22:54the US. So that's how many of these
- 22:55Waymo cars were out there. 250 I guess they're all rideshare
- 23:00companies and Waymo claims are safer than human drivers.
- 23:05You know what, thinking about it, I wouldn't mind getting a
- 23:07rideshare without one of them drivers, you know, 'cause so
- 23:10many dudes from here smell like weed and listen to some a rap
- 23:13shit. You know, I, I kind of would be
- 23:16nice for a short trip. I wouldn't take it out of town
- 23:19or anything. I mean, maybe next town over or
- 23:22something, but, or if I lived in a big city, you know, maybe, you
- 23:25know, slow moving the city, but I wouldn't try it on.
- 23:27I wouldn't trust them on major highway.
- 23:30And yeah, I don't have no claims to save for driving.
- 23:35And I said they're having me by Google.
- 23:36That's amazing because Google's technology's pretty damn sharp.
- 23:45Uber uses a lot of these Waymos, Uber CEO reported Waymo robo
- 23:49taxis on app. They have an app for these Rd.
- 23:53like I guess you go to Uber and answer, you go on robo taxi and
- 23:55we don't have them around here. Pittsburgh I'm I believe in in
- 24:00Austin, TX or in Austin, TX, these robo taxis these way more
- 24:06robo taxis are 99% busier than human drivers because people
- 24:10don't want the human driver. If there's no driver in there,
- 24:13they should be cheaper, cheaper rides then because they're not
- 24:15paying the driver if he has if he has truck or mouth.
- 24:20Like I said, it wouldn't be bad to take a rideshare without take
- 24:25a rideshare without one of them, one of them people in there,
- 24:27man, if you ask me. So yeah, they're made in America
- 24:38and all. So Google's not spying on us.
- 24:45They're one of us. But I mean, these are, these are
- 24:47the ones in the technology to come through, except they make
- 24:49their own. I, I take them.
- 24:54I, I, I would be nice. It would be nice to have a a
- 24:59rideshare with that one of them drivers sometimes, Sometimes you
- 25:02get a nice one. But I've been doing a lot
- 25:04lately. Truck him out, don't have
- 25:04lights. Truck him out and get his legs
- 25:06back October fully and he will be on the road.
- 25:09Yeah, my own. Let's rock my mouth.
- 25:10So. So Tesla makes them, GM makes
- 25:16the crews who also had problems with recalls.
- 25:19So Tesla and GM also have problems with recalls, that's
- 25:23for sure. This is new.
- 25:24This is a new thing, but there's way more of them Waymo's out
- 25:31there than and I and I tried to research who makes the cheapest
- 25:37self drive with Thomas Carr, but it's it's the Waymo.
- 25:45Obviously, because they're they're they're the the most out
- 25:47there. There's more of them out there.
- 25:49Anything else looks like we don't have around here.
- 25:54But sometimes it would be nice to have whatever, whatever
- 25:57driver, but just you got it. Like I said, I wouldn't trust
- 26:01these things right now on on a major highway or nothing like
- 26:04that, going any further than around town or next town over.
- 26:07Maybe if you're going, you know, open up me myself, truck them
- 26:11out. Don't know every day you don't
- 26:12play them. No, every day.
- 26:14Now the while they're even doing itself this non driving thing.
- 26:18It's all to get around. It's all to get around paying a
- 26:20driver. The whole thing's together.
- 26:22They get around paying a driver so I don't.
- 26:27I don't know man. I guess it's way in the future.
- 26:32Sure is man. Oh don't talk about the CB man.
- 26:39Like no one talks with CB anymore.
- 26:42Anybody got a copy on trunk or mouth out there?
- 26:44Come on. No one talks to regular CB.
- 26:48It's all side been a ham. But these cars can be hacked
- 26:56into. Like I said, they hacked into
- 26:57that ELD and and made the throttle go the whole way up.
- 27:01And then there's the Colorado State University Dad, you could
- 27:03hack into these things. I don't know, I said, I don't
- 27:08know why you're even. But it's all around getting
- 27:12around paying the driver. Everything's, you know, the
- 27:14money line. Well, if you're the money line
- 27:16to make sure he's just safe before he put it out on our
- 27:18roads. That's what trucker mouth got to
- 27:20say. I thought Wayne was made out of
- 27:25out of the country and I was going to say, well, keep them,
- 27:28keep them out of the country if it's all that, but they're made
- 27:31right here. So I kind of I kind of smashed
- 27:35my road rage. I'm still Rd. raging on them,
- 27:38man, because they're they're all of them.
- 27:41Make sure your technology's right.
- 27:42If we put it on our roads, man, that's all I'm asking.
- 27:44Oh boy, what's next? I'll drive motorcycles and and
- 27:51then what up? What's next, man?
- 27:54You know, well, some of them, one person comes out with it.
- 27:58100 people got to do it too because, oh, he's making money
- 28:01on this. Let's let's come out with a self
- 28:02driving car, OK, Yeah, The Tesla's having all kind of
- 28:09problems. They're having all kind of
- 28:11problems. Man, He really got to watch it.
- 28:13He got to watch it. Elon Musk got a lot of fucking
- 28:16money. Excuse my language, but it's
- 28:18weird because it's like now it's like he don't even run Tesla or
- 28:22something. It's kind of weird how he's
- 28:24wording that. I don't know what's going on
- 28:28there. I mean, I'm sure he's still
- 28:30owning it, but if someone's running it and they're all
- 28:38common problems, people burying them up, people burning them up.
- 28:43A couple $100,000 car, one of them 1 is looking at a
- 28:46spaceship. Let's see them around here.
- 28:49Think that's the truck version car it's a car truck version.
- 28:55But yeah man, he he did our problem too.
- 28:58So GM have the recalls and it's all trial and error I guess and
- 29:03I got to stop saying that to them trucker mouse just a little
- 29:09behind the times. Like I said I'm still doing the
- 29:11book report and all from my from my podcast.
- 29:14I got a computer coming and I'm going to try to get some updates
- 29:18in my some equipment here. I'm going to get some side band
- 29:23channels put in this the CB here.
- 29:25It's a good CB is you then Zachary T do that and try to
- 29:30simulcast while I'm here on on MBR and broadcast on the air.
- 29:38Maybe so we're in the age of but that whole thing about not not
- 29:48did the software and technology come on from the Republic of
- 29:51China and Russia and they're not it's not going to apply to the
- 29:54commercial vehicle is is that's who's the idiot to come up with
- 29:58that? You're an idiot.
- 30:01I'll put the hammer down that asshole.
