Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Two guards that we go Opposition parties here saying government
- 0:03Speaker 1: needs to get harder to take a harsher stance against Israel. Yesterday,
- 0:07Speaker 1: Winston Peter has joined a bunch of other countries and
- 0:09Speaker 1: calling for an immediate cease fire.
- 0:11Speaker 2: This horror must end. Two lives have been lost, too
- 0:15Speaker 2: many people have been traumatized, polarized and embittered, ensuring that
- 0:20Speaker 2: yet another generational was ready. And Palestinian children born into
- 0:24Speaker 2: a situation have been sufferable conflict and enmity. That is
- 0:28Speaker 2: why and Zeeland has come together with foreign ministers from
- 0:30Speaker 2: twenty seven other countries to state as curly as we
- 0:34Speaker 2: can that enough is enough, that this war must end,
- 0:38Speaker 2: now that this suffering is intolerable.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Cloe Straubert Ring Party colid with me this morning, Chloe,
- 0:43Speaker 1: good morning. So what more can Winston Dowey has called
- 0:47Speaker 1: for an unconditional seats fire, immediate seats fire. What else?
- 0:51Speaker 3: The Foreign Minister has been calling for a cease fire
- 0:54Speaker 3: for the better part of two years, but Ryan, at
- 0:57Speaker 3: the end of the day, Palestinians can't eat, and right
- 1:00Speaker 3: now the blockade on Gaza is starving, actively starving. The
- 1:05Speaker 3: people of Palestine. Look We've had Holocaust scholars and survivors,
- 1:09Speaker 3: We've had Human Rights Watch, United Nations, Entities, Amnesty International,
- 1:13Speaker 3: all of which have said that what is unfolding before
- 1:16Speaker 3: our very eyes is a genocide. Then we have the
- 1:19Speaker 3: horrific videos livestream to our phones twenty four to seven,
- 1:22Speaker 3: and as schools, hospitals are being bombed and eight hundred
- 1:25Speaker 3: people have been murdered in the last two months, lighting
- 1:28Speaker 3: up for food. I think the absolute bare minimum that
- 1:31Speaker 3: any of us can accept from our so called representatives
- 1:34Speaker 3: and leaders is put substance behind their words.
- 1:36Speaker 1: So stratifically, what specific sanctions are you talking about, because
- 1:40Speaker 1: we've got sanctions travel bands against a couple of members
- 1:43Speaker 1: of ntnyah's cabinet. But what specifically else would you like?
- 1:47Speaker 3: So we can copy the exact same frameworks that we
- 1:50Speaker 3: did with the Russia's Sanctions Act, where you'll recall that
- 1:53Speaker 3: our Parliament acted within just a few weeks of Russia's
- 1:55Speaker 3: unlawful invasion into an occupation of Ukraine and sanctioned Russia autonomously.
- 2:01Speaker 3: That's the reason that I took the parallel approach with
- 2:04Speaker 3: the sanctions Bill. With the unawful occupation of Palestine, Sanctions
- 2:07Speaker 3: Bill which actually would implement a put some substance behind
- 2:11Speaker 3: the words that we signed up to in September of
- 2:14Speaker 3: last year when we joined with one hundred and twenty
- 2:17Speaker 3: three other Member states to support the United Nations General
- 2:19Speaker 3: Assembly effectively to back up the advisory opinion from the ICJ,
- 2:25Speaker 3: the International Court of Justice in a nutshell, Ryan, we
- 2:28Speaker 3: have seen other countries also move to do this, yes,
- 2:31Speaker 3: spaceic sanctions. That Ireland has done this, we saw, we
- 2:35Speaker 3: saw just last week that twelve countries came together to
- 2:37Speaker 3: do the same and Bogata. So we need some action
- 2:40Speaker 3: behind words. All those words are just empty.
- 2:43Speaker 1: We appreciate your time. Close for Green Party co leader.
