- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 3: We have a loaded show for you today.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Mario Cristobal going to join us in about 15 minutes.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Looking forward to that.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Demario Davis, good to join us, and Jalen Hawkins in
- 0:31Speaker 1: hour number two. Demario Davis, third stint with the Jets.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Our apologies to him. And Jalen Hawkins, who is now
- 0:38Speaker 1: a safety with the Baltimore Ravens. So a lot to
- 0:41Speaker 1: get to. If you're interested in Taylor's Yankee takes, you
- 0:45Speaker 1: can check him out. Stu Godson Company, the show before
- 0:48Speaker 1: the show. We'll get to Falcons and Saints here in
- 0:51Speaker 1: just a second. Taylor, did you get all your Yankee
- 0:54Speaker 1: thoughts today? Do you feel better now? Because you were
- 0:56Speaker 1: yelling at the Yankees.
- 0:57Speaker 3: You're not happy. You're down 0-2.
- 0:59Speaker 1: The series shifts back to Yankee Stadium.
- 1:02Speaker 3: The rotation is set up for you.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I think the Yankees are going to win that series
- 1:06Speaker 1: in five.
- 1:07Speaker 3: I just want to make sure you're okay. That's all.
- 1:09Speaker 4: I hate when you say the Yankees are going to
- 1:11Speaker 4: win this series in five, because like, where does any
- 1:14Speaker 4: optimism come from watching this Yankee team take some of
- 1:17Speaker 4: the most pathetic lifeless at bats humanly possible, where we're just,
- 1:22Speaker 4: we're just going up to the plate. We're just taking hacks. Every,
- 1:26Speaker 4: everybody not named Austin Wells, Cody Bellinger and Ben Rice. Oh,
- 1:31Speaker 4: for 38, whatever the stats are, this, this lineup is pathetic.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Freddie Peralta shoves, Drew Rasmussen shoves.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Whoever the Tampa Bay Rays put at this point is
- 1:42Speaker 4: just going to shove this lineup. Also, where did all
- 1:44Speaker 4: these Tampa Bay Rays fans come from? They're in bottom
- 1:47Speaker 4: five attendance all year.
- 1:49Speaker 3: You're right.
- 1:49Speaker 4: I thought at best that crowd was going to be
- 1:52Speaker 4: 50-50 with a majority more Yankee fans. Now, the Yankees
- 1:55Speaker 4: have not given their fans anything to cheer about when
- 1:59Speaker 4: those games are in Tampa Bay. I think they're pumping
- 2:02Speaker 4: in noise or something because all of a sudden, Tampa
- 2:05Speaker 4: Bay has the best home atmosphere in all baseball.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Listen, the trop is a dump, okay? I'm going to
- 2:13Speaker 1: say it. So for regular season game 91, I don't
- 2:17Speaker 1: expect people to go sit in a dump to watch
- 2:19Speaker 1: a meaningless baseball game. But if there are stakes attached
- 2:22Speaker 1: to it, and there are, and they're playing the Yankees,
- 2:25Speaker 1: what are you getting on Rays fans? They don't have
- 2:27Speaker 1: a good stadium. You said it about Northwestern and their
- 2:29Speaker 1: football stadium. If you build it, they will come. And
- 2:32Speaker 1: if you build a baseball stadium in Tampa, the fans
- 2:35Speaker 1: will come out and they'll come out more consistently because
- 2:38Speaker 1: it's a nice place to go.
- 2:39Speaker 5: They'll deal with a dump immediately.
- 2:41Speaker 1: For the playoffs and the Yankees and must-win games with
- 2:44Speaker 1: stakes attached, they will not deal with that dump against.
- 2:48Speaker 3: The Orioles game 84 of the regular season.
- 2:51Speaker 4: So if we were power ranking the biggest jokes to
- 2:53Speaker 4: come out of that Yankee game yesterday, number one clear favorite,
- 2:57Speaker 4: the Yankees lineup. Like, the Yankees lineup... number one number
- 3:01Speaker 4: two is the yankees defense.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Well hold on a second the entire yankee lineup including.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Rice everybody but ben rice okay and i believe a
- 3:09Speaker 4: single from austin.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Wells right but bellinger was so close to being on
- 3:13Speaker 1: that good list right.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Yeah and then i see the stats after the game
- 3:15Speaker 4: that's a home run in 12 out of 30 parks
- 3:17Speaker 4: like it's not a home run in tropicana it's not
- 3:19Speaker 4: a home home run at yankee stadium like who really
- 3:21Speaker 4: cares number one biggest joke the yankees lineup number two
- 3:25Speaker 4: biggest joke the yankees defense number three biggest joke you
- 3:28Speaker 4: mentioned it Tropicana Field, like when a ball hits off,
- 3:32Speaker 4: if a ball has the capability to hit off a catwalk,
- 3:35Speaker 4: what are we doing? Like, how is a catwalk coming
- 3:41Speaker 4: into play?
- 3:42Speaker 3: Yes, no, I understand what you're saying.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Put it on the poll. If a ball can bounce
- 3:46Speaker 1: off a catwalk, what the hell are we doing?
- 3:48Speaker 3: Yes, Dan Beyer.
- 3:49Speaker 5: I haven't heard catwalk this much since Right Said Fred. Right.
- 3:53Speaker 5: I mean, like it is it is crazy. Thank you
- 3:55Speaker 5: very much for that.
- 3:58Speaker 4: And Dan Byard, the only reason why Tampa Bay has
- 4:01Speaker 4: the Tropicana Field right now is because the Yankees were
- 4:04Speaker 4: gracious enough to lend them the minor league stadium so
- 4:08Speaker 4: they could build Tropicana Field back up. Like we paid
- 4:12Speaker 4: to now get destroyed in this ballpark.
- 4:14Speaker 6: That's right. You gave them a home away from home.
- 4:17Speaker 6: This is how they treat you.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It's like Michigan paying Central Michigan $ 2 million for them
- 4:23Speaker 1: to come to the big house and beat them.
- 4:25Speaker 6: I thought maybe the Rays fans packed the trop last
- 4:28Speaker 6: night because they didn't want to see in person, or
- 4:30Speaker 6: at least on TV, how the NFC South has completely
- 4:33Speaker 6: blown past the Buccaneers.
- 4:34Speaker 5: I mean, the Saints.
- 4:36Speaker 6: And the Saints, not a great night, but the Falcons,
- 4:38Speaker 6: my goodness, the Panthers the next night. Maybe that's why.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Maybe that's they're going to drown their sorrows in baseball.
- 4:45Speaker 1: So I said I said last week, thank you for
- 4:47Speaker 1: taking us to the NFL, Dan. I appreciate it. I
- 4:49Speaker 1: said I said last week I would put a flyer
- 4:52Speaker 1: on the Falcons to win the Super Bowl or make
- 4:55Speaker 1: it to the Super Bowl out of the NFC. You
- 4:57Speaker 1: have to find value. And the Falcons looked a lot better.
- 5:01Speaker 1: just by having Michael Penix in the lineup, a competent
- 5:04Speaker 1: quarterback playing that position for their team. They were the
- 5:09Speaker 1: worst team in the NFL offensively through two weeks, and
- 5:12Speaker 1: the last two weeks they have put up 80 points.
- 5:14Speaker 1: So last week I said take the Falcons. I'm guessing
- 5:17Speaker 1: you missed the boat on that because the value was
- 5:19Speaker 1: last week.
- 5:19Speaker 3: It's not this week. I am with you.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That team looks good enough and is talented enough to A,
- 5:25Speaker 1: win that division, and B, make a deep run in
- 5:27Speaker 1: the playoffs.
- 5:28Speaker 5: They're that good.
- 5:29Speaker 6: I had my own Taylor put it on a pole
- 5:32Speaker 6: sort of moment last night. Is Cooper Rush the worst
- 5:35Speaker 6: player in NFL history? I mean, because what a difference.
- 5:38Speaker 6: I mean, this team was awful in week weeks one
- 5:41Speaker 6: and two. And now just the presence of Pennix, to
- 5:44Speaker 6: your point of just him being on the field, gives
- 5:46Speaker 6: them a threat that makes Bijan magnificent. Brian Robinson's great.
- 5:50Speaker 6: Drake London had almost 200 yards in week three. Yeah,
- 5:54Speaker 6: it's crazy.
- 5:54Speaker 1: But if you're Cooper Rush, if you can't be good there,
- 5:57Speaker 1: you're not going to be good anywhere.
- 6:00Speaker 3: You have two Robinsons running the football. You have Drake London.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I mean, Michael Penix even made Kyle Pitts a factor
- 6:06Speaker 1: last night.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Amazing.
- 6:07Speaker 4: It's like the opposite of New York. If you can
- 6:09Speaker 4: make it there, you can make it anywhere. If you
- 6:10Speaker 4: can't make it in the Falcons offense, you can't make
- 6:12Speaker 4: it anywhere.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I'm telling you, quarterbacks would quit their jobs right now.
- 6:17Speaker 1: starting quarterbacks to leave and go to Atlanta to be
- 6:20Speaker 1: the quarterback for that team offensively.
- 6:23Speaker 3: They are overwhelming. They're that good, that talented.
- 6:26Speaker 4: So I have to put my hand up because I
- 6:28Speaker 4: made fun of the Falcons for having three straight primetime games.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Now I can't get enough Falcons football. This team, like
- 6:34Speaker 4: you guys mentioned, is operating in another stratosphere from week
- 6:37Speaker 4: one and week two. Dan, you hit on the biggest
- 6:39Speaker 4: takeaway from watching the Falcons outside of just B. John
- 6:43Speaker 4: Robinson's overall dominance. Cooper Rush can never take another snap again.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I would rather the kid from the Commanders, whatever his name,
- 6:53Speaker 4: Calc Manius, the Bakalov bomber. I'd rather Jake Hainer from
- 6:57Speaker 4: the Giants. You could line up any quarterback right now,
- 7:01Speaker 4: and I would rather take my chances with that quarterback.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Than Cooper Rush.
- 7:04Speaker 3: I'm certain the Falcons would too at this point.
- 7:07Speaker 5: If Joe Webb came back, it'd be like, all right, okay,
- 7:09Speaker 5: it's better than Cooper Rush.
- 7:10Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Let's do that.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Dan, you agree with me, though, right?
- 7:14Speaker 1: There are starters currently on NFL teams who would die
- 7:17Speaker 1: for the opportunity to be the quarterback of the Falcons. Yes.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Daniel Jones.
- 7:22Speaker 5: A lot of them. Gino Smith, right?
- 7:28Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Gino Smith. I mean, forget it.
- 7:30Speaker 1: But they have a quarterback, and it's Michael Penix, and
- 7:32Speaker 1: he has to turn the ball over. and he's got
- 7:34Speaker 1: a cannon for an arm, and he can get the
- 7:36Speaker 1: ball into very small windows, and when he can throw
- 7:39Speaker 1: the ball, it opens up the running game for B.
- 7:41Speaker 3: John Robinson. What do you have, Dan?
- 7:43Speaker 6: I don't think Tua feels about this. The point is
- 7:48Speaker 6: he could have gotten– it's not that Penix has done anything.
- 7:50Speaker 6: He's just been there. He showed up, and the running
- 7:53Speaker 6: game has taken off. So Tua could have gotten all
- 7:56Speaker 6: this praise if he just would have gotten hurt in
- 7:59Speaker 6: week one in the practice. And we wouldn't have known
- 8:02Speaker 6: if he's still bad or not, because all you have
- 8:04Speaker 6: to do is just hand it off to the Robinson
- 8:06Speaker 6: boys and go from there.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Do you think Tua is looking at the situation and
- 8:11Speaker 1: saying to himself, man, that could have been me?
- 8:14Speaker 5: Yes, 100%. It should have been me. That's what he's
- 8:17Speaker 5: probably saying. But he didn't want it to be him.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And if you're the Dolphins, by the way, the worst thing,
- 8:22Speaker 1: I mean, I would imagine in sports, is paying that
- 8:25Speaker 1: much money to see your quarterback thrive somewhere else. The
- 8:29Speaker 1: Dolphins are still paying him that much money, but he's
- 8:31Speaker 1: not thriving anywhere else. And so they're feeling okay about
- 8:35Speaker 1: that decision.
- 8:36Speaker 5: I'll add this.
- 8:37Speaker 6: Have you guys seen the videos of the preseason where
- 8:41Speaker 6: the guy's having a fantasy football draft And he accidentally
- 8:45Speaker 6: takes Brian Robinson's name with the first overall pick instead
- 8:47Speaker 6: of Bijan. And then everybody there is laughing because they're
- 8:51Speaker 6: on the same team. He took B Robinson. and just
- 8:53Speaker 6: put the wrong one up there, and they made him
- 8:55Speaker 6: stick with Brian Robinson. Right now, not a bad pick.
- 8:58Speaker 6: That guy made no more than the other 11 guys.
- 9:01Speaker 6: But he was the laughingstock of his league. Now last night, what,
- 9:05Speaker 6: three touchdowns? Yeah, yeah, not a bad pick.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Stu, I have a stat that just highlights what a
- 9:11Speaker 4: difference a quarterback makes for a team. This is from
- 9:13Speaker 4: ESPN Insights.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Yes.
- 9:15Speaker 4: The Falcons with Cooper Rush averaged eight points per game,
- 9:18Speaker 4: the fewest in the NFL with seven turnovers. The Falcons
- 9:21Speaker 4: with Michael Penix Jr. are averaging 40 points per game,
- 9:24Speaker 4: the most in the NFL.
- 9:25Speaker 1: It's the greatest offense in the history of the NFL
- 9:29Speaker 1: over the last two weeks.
- 9:31Speaker 3: 40 a game.
- 9:32Speaker 5: And they have a good defense.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And they have a good defense.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Let's take a couple of calls here before we get
- 9:38Speaker 1: to Mario Cristobal, the head coach. at the University of Miami.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Now we just have one. Let's go to Dan, who's
- 9:44Speaker 1: in Philadelphia.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Dan, go ahead. You're on Fox Sports Radio. Hey, what's up, guys?
- 9:49Speaker 2: I am the meatball sub guy.
- 9:51Speaker 6: I've kind of been roasted all over the internet for
- 9:53Speaker 6: the last few days.
- 9:54Speaker 5: I'm the guy after.
- 9:56Speaker 3: The Eagles Rams game that asked if the Eagles are
- 9:59Speaker 3: eating meatball subs at halftime. So I'd love to just
- 10:01Speaker 3: come on and say hi. All right, thank you. Can
- 10:05Speaker 3: you bring me a meatball sub? I mean, how about that?
- 10:08Speaker 2: Yeah, actually, I was wondering if I could just plug
- 10:11Speaker 2: something real quick.
- 10:12Speaker 5: I made t-shirts out of it, and all the proceeds
- 10:14Speaker 5: are going.
- 10:15Speaker 4: To go to a local animal shelter.
- 10:17Speaker 3: So if you just.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Google bonfire meatball subs, you know, I'm kind of taking
- 10:22Speaker 5: my embarrassing moment and trying to help out local pets.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Dan, I have a question for you. Congratulations, you're our
- 10:27Speaker 1: stook out to the day. How did you decide on
- 10:29Speaker 1: a meatball sub, just out of curiosity?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Um, honestly, I thought, um, during my tailgate, we were
- 10:36Speaker 2: eating subs and other things.
- 10:37Speaker 5: And I'm like, I'm so full.
- 10:38Speaker 3: I'm like, this is what must be what big Don
- 10:40Speaker 3: is feeding the Eagles at halftime.
- 10:41Speaker 5: You go into the locker room, there's a spread of subs.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Hoagies, you know, big ZD. The team is coming out
- 10:47Speaker 3: that dead.
- 10:48Speaker 5: They must be eating something big, like, you know, meatball sandwiches.
- 10:50Speaker 2: So it's kind of a joke I made before the
- 10:53Speaker 2: game and made it to the end of the game.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Dan, do you just call into radio stations ever since
- 10:58Speaker 1: this happened?
- 10:59Speaker 3: Have you just been calling into radio stations for plugs?
- 11:01Speaker 3: I mean.
- 11:03Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 11:04Speaker 3: I mean, I've been getting calls and interviews as well,
- 11:06Speaker 3: which is a little surprising.
- 11:08Speaker 5: I didn't expect it to be this big.
- 11:09Speaker 4: And I figured, oh, after yesterday, it'd be over.
- 11:11Speaker 2: But apparently it's not.
- 11:12Speaker 3: But, you know, trying to take something that I'm a
- 11:14Speaker 3: little embarrassed about and turn it into something positive. All right.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Thank you. We appreciate it. Come back tomorrow if you
- 11:21Speaker 3: like and plug away.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 11:25Speaker 2: live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific on
- 11:29Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Thank you to Mario Cristobal for joining us. I have
- 11:37Speaker 1: known that man for nearly two decades. That is wacky
- 11:39Speaker 1: Mario Cristobal right there.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I mean, it is.
- 11:44Speaker 1: He doesn't give you a lot. He gave us a lot.
- 11:46Speaker 1: And he gave us his time, and we appreciate it.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It is cool to see a guy who went to UM,
- 11:51Speaker 1: who cares that much about the city.
- 11:53Speaker 3: He is Miami. Mario Cristobal.
- 11:57Speaker 1: To see him as the guy who was bringing the
- 11:59Speaker 1: Canes back to prominence. Demario Davis going to join us
- 12:02Speaker 1: coming up here in about 15 minutes. And Jalen Hawkins,
- 12:06Speaker 1: safety from the Ravens, is going to join us as well.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I was thinking about something while Mario was on with us.
- 12:12Speaker 1: We'll get to it in a second. in terms of
- 12:14Speaker 1: all-time college teams. But I want to hear Dan Byers,
- 12:20Speaker 1: his thoughts here on the referee situation going on in
- 12:23Speaker 1: the NFL, and then we'll get to me and Taylor
- 12:26Speaker 1: and our thoughts on it, because I think it is
- 12:29Speaker 1: laugh out loud funny, Dan, that we are holding the
- 12:32Speaker 1: refs to some ridiculous standards where they can't scream and
- 12:36Speaker 1: at an NFL player when an NFL player is screaming
- 12:40Speaker 1: unholy type stuff at referees all the time.
- 12:43Speaker 6: I've always wondered where that line was of like what
- 12:46Speaker 6: you can and can't say I don't know honestly I
- 12:50Speaker 6: don't know and Jeff Seaman was the one who got
- 12:52Speaker 6: the line judge who was the one yelling at Trey
- 12:55Speaker 6: McBride but does he even get busted if there isn't
- 12:58Speaker 6: a camera there like is this something that Trey McBride
- 13:01Speaker 6: goes and tells someone and then there's an investigation I
- 13:04Speaker 6: don't think so either.
- 13:06Speaker 3: He said he said, yes. Yes.
- 13:08Speaker 6: And I think Adrian Hill having an absolute hissy fit
- 13:11Speaker 6: because he got knocked over and then was trying to then,
- 13:15Speaker 6: you know, moving Eric Wilson to his own huddle and
- 13:18Speaker 6: completely overreacting. Much worse look for an official of being
- 13:23Speaker 6: a baby than the one of the line judge cussing
- 13:26Speaker 6: at Dre McBride.
- 13:27Speaker 3: No question about it.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'm just saying I don't think people realize on a
- 13:31Speaker 1: weekly basis what those referees.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Have to deal with in terms of what in terms
- 13:36Speaker 3: of what players.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Lord knows what players have said to referees over the years.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Taylor has an update on this. I believe what is
- 13:44Speaker 3: happening here.
- 13:44Speaker 4: The the NFL Refs Association is challenging the severity of
- 13:48Speaker 4: both of those suspensions. And they're they're basically saying like
- 13:52Speaker 4: accountability matters, but that should not result in discipline that
- 13:55Speaker 4: is is excessive or inconsistent with established precedent. What is
- 13:59Speaker 4: the precedent to a referee telling an NFL player to
- 14:03Speaker 4: bleep off twice? Right? Twice.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I know, but in the heat of the moment, if
- 14:08Speaker 1: you were a referee, Dan, in the heat of the moment,
- 14:11Speaker 1: you could see yourself after that many games and that
- 14:13Speaker 1: many players calling you all sorts of names, you could
- 14:16Speaker 1: see yourself kind of having a moment there and biting back, right?
- 14:20Speaker 6: Yeah, he seems like he's got some miles on him
- 14:22Speaker 6: as well. There's some gray in the hair. I think
- 14:24Speaker 6: he actually may be completely gray. So, you know, he's
- 14:27Speaker 6: heard this before from the NFL, so he's probably just...
- 14:30Speaker 6: Fed up with it. I do think it was one
- 14:32Speaker 6: game per each blank you, though, because I did see
- 14:35Speaker 6: two of them and he got a two game suspension.
- 14:39Speaker 4: The Adrian Hill one to me, Dan, is so much
- 14:41Speaker 4: more crazier because I think in that moment when Eric
- 14:44Speaker 4: Wilson accidentally knocks the ref over.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Adrian Hill, that referee, would have fought Eric Wilson if
- 14:49Speaker 4: Eric Wilson squared up with him.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Wasn't Wilson just trying to help him up?
- 14:53Speaker 4: He was trying to help him up. And Adrian Hill
- 14:55Speaker 4: had a mental breakdown where he was like, I want
- 14:57Speaker 4: to punch Eric Wilson in the face right now, forgetting
- 15:00Speaker 4: the fact that Eric Wilson is a professional gladiator, basically.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 6: And I think it was Ali Gordon that pushed Wilson
- 15:06Speaker 6: in because Gordon continued on the play that they were
- 15:09Speaker 6: calling dead.
- 15:09Speaker 5: So it wasn't even Wilson's fault.
- 15:11Speaker 6: So when he's trying to help up Adrian Hill, he's
- 15:13Speaker 6: doing it because he got pushed into Hill and.
- 15:16Speaker 5: He was having no part of it. Like, yeah, it's.
- 15:20Speaker 6: He just looked so, like, to overreact like that when, like,
- 15:22Speaker 6: people show who they are. Like, that was a moment
- 15:26Speaker 6: where it's just like, okay, this is who Adrian Hill is.
- 15:29Speaker 6: Where Jeff Seaman, you're like, yeah, dude, I get it.
- 15:32Speaker 5: All right. You know, bleep off.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Right.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Seaman should be refereeing this week.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:36Speaker 3: And you're right. The other referee should be done for
- 15:38Speaker 3: the season. Yeah.
- 15:40Speaker 6: I like some personality in the referees. I just didn't
- 15:42Speaker 6: like that personality from Adrian Hill. You know, I love
- 15:45Speaker 6: giving them the business. First down, you know, red cash in,
- 15:48Speaker 6: you know, years ago, doing stuff way before your time, Taylor.
- 15:51Speaker 5: Don't worry about it. But it's way before your time.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I think Ed Hockley is way before his time.
- 15:58Speaker 5: He was giving them the business.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Sorry, Sam. That was good timing.
- 16:04Speaker 5: Great job. Great job. Great job.
- 16:07Speaker 3: No, I'm being serious. I spoke over it. My bad.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Yeah. Dan, I am on the complete opposite side of
- 16:12Speaker 4: you wanting referees with personalities because over the past, like,
- 16:15Speaker 4: let's call it 10 days, two weeks, I've written down
- 16:18Speaker 4: these examples. You have the terrible pass interference call during
- 16:22Speaker 4: Rams Broncos. There was a penalty on Mike Vrabel for
- 16:24Speaker 4: Mike Vrabel saying that's a terrible bleeping call. You have
- 16:27Speaker 4: the ref trying to fight the Viking. You have the
- 16:29Speaker 4: ref yelling bleep you at Trey McBride. You had a
- 16:31Speaker 4: game between the Seahawks and the Chargers that had 30 penalties.
- 16:36Speaker 4: This is just a reminder to referees. Nobody, and I
- 16:40Speaker 4: mean nobody, is going to games to watch you guys.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Let's all just take a step back and remember who
- 16:45Speaker 4: the stars of the show are.
- 16:47Speaker 6: I accept that point, but maybe we should go to
- 16:49Speaker 6: games to see them. Imagine if the ref is on
- 16:52Speaker 6: your side for a home game. Like, how great would
- 16:55Speaker 6: that be? Like, pass interference. Guess what, people? First down.
- 16:59Speaker 6: Like the crowd would eat that stuff up. Or you
- 17:02Speaker 6: find out you got a villain ref who is more
- 17:04Speaker 6: like on the side of the road team. And you
- 17:06Speaker 6: just give him, you know, give him hell throughout the
- 17:08Speaker 6: entire game.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Yes, you're saying you'd be more inclined to go if
- 17:12Speaker 1: the referees had personalities.
- 17:13Speaker 5: Correct, correct.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Be more like Major League Baseball. Confront players. Confront head
- 17:18Speaker 6: coaches on your own, unprovoked. You know, let's spice this up.
- 17:23Speaker 6: Was it Bob Uecker? Just a bit outside.
- 17:26Speaker 3: I think we need more of it.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Well, he was an announcer. Not an author.
- 17:32Speaker 4: We've seen this in the NBA, though. The last thing
- 17:35Speaker 4: the NFL needs is somebody like Scott Foster to take
- 17:38Speaker 4: over the NFL.
- 17:43Speaker 6: Do you think we're going to be calling it like,
- 17:44Speaker 6: you know, this is a Sean Hockley game, you know,
- 17:47Speaker 6: or whatever Ed Hockley's son's name is? This is one
- 17:51Speaker 6: of his games, just like we would a Scott Foster. Oh, games,
- 17:54Speaker 6: you know, game seven, NFC championship game. You're going to
- 17:58Speaker 6: put Hockley on the call. Are you kidding me?
- 18:00Speaker 4: And then he almost has to have a foe like
- 18:03Speaker 4: Chris Paul. Like anytime Chris Paul was playing in a
- 18:05Speaker 4: big game and it's like, oh, no, here comes Scott Foster,
- 18:08Speaker 4: the extender. We know he struggles in games against when
- 18:11Speaker 4: Scott Foster is officiating Chris Paul games.
- 18:13Speaker 6: People think we shouldn't know like the names of officials.
- 18:16Speaker 6: We should know all of them. Like every one of them.
- 18:19Speaker 5: Yes.
- 18:19Speaker 6: Look, we know it throughout history. Scott Foster, college basketball.
- 18:24Speaker 6: Sam got my ear. Eddie, Eddie Hightower, Teddy Valentine. Like
- 18:28Speaker 6: we know these guys. I think that they should be
- 18:30Speaker 6: part of the about about the you know, they should
- 18:33Speaker 6: be a part of the conversation.
- 18:35Speaker 5: I think that's a great thing.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Dick Bavetta. Racing Charles Barkley.
- 18:42Speaker 5: Yes.
- 18:43Speaker 6: I know who Ed Malloy is. We all know who
- 18:45Speaker 6: Ed Malloy is, by the way. We know who Zach
- 18:47Speaker 6: Zarba is. Like, we should know this in the NFL.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Yes, you're right.
- 18:53Speaker 1: The thoughts I had while Mario Cristobal was on with us,
- 18:57Speaker 1: they're going to have to wait until tomorrow.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 19:04Speaker 2: live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Pacific.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Our thanks to Mario Cristobal for joining us earlier. To
- 19:13Speaker 1: Mario Davis and Jalen Hawkins as well. We'll get to,
- 19:19Speaker 1: I've been thinking about something since Mario was on with us, Taylor,
- 19:22Speaker 1: that I'll get to in just a second. But I
- 19:24Speaker 1: was amazed and laughing at you this morning because something
- 19:28Speaker 1: was going on. With AT & T and cable and
- 19:32Speaker 1: they give you these two-hour windows and you're never in
- 19:34Speaker 1: the first window.
- 19:36Speaker 3: You're never.
- 19:37Speaker 4: You are never in the first window.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I think it's just all one big window. I do.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think there are windows. I don't
- 19:44Speaker 1: think there's an early sign of a two-hour window. They
- 19:47Speaker 1: just get to you when they get to you.
- 19:48Speaker 5: That's it.
- 19:49Speaker 4: So not only... am I dealing with the Yankees losing
- 19:51Speaker 4: to the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday, if you told me, Taylor,
- 19:54Speaker 4: what's the worst way you could have experienced this game?
- 19:57Speaker 4: Probably streaming it on your Apple TV with a hotspot
- 20:01Speaker 4: internet from your phone, and every five seconds it's lagging.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I'm like, oh man, I wonder what happens here. Oh,
- 20:06Speaker 4: what a surprise. The Yankees strike out when it finally...
- 20:09Speaker 4: buffers and catches back up then the internet is finally
- 20:14Speaker 4: getting installed today with AT & T, and they say, hey,
- 20:18Speaker 4: the window is 8 to 10. And also, with these
- 20:22Speaker 4: companies now, they call you 50 times after you schedule
- 20:27Speaker 4: the appointment to confirm the appointment. I'm getting these calls
- 20:30Speaker 4: every 20 minutes from them. I'm like, hey, tell the
- 20:32Speaker 4: next guy who calls me, I already confirmed the appointment.
- 20:35Speaker 4: You don't need to send me more texts saying, press
- 20:37Speaker 4: 1 to confirm the appointment. And then I press 1
- 20:39Speaker 4: to confirm the appointment. 30 minutes later, I get a call. Hey,
- 20:42Speaker 4: by the way, we're just letting you know... 8 to 10,
- 20:45Speaker 4: I go, yes, somebody just told me that 20 minutes ago.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Yes, we should preface all of this by saying we love.
- 20:49Speaker 1: AT & T.
- 20:51Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 20:52Speaker 4: I'm open for business.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Any of the wireless companies, any of the internet, we
- 20:56Speaker 1: love you all. I have no idea which ones are
- 20:59Speaker 1: advertising with us. I have no idea if they're on
- 21:01Speaker 1: radio or on the podcast. But AT & T, we
- 21:05Speaker 1: love you.
- 21:05Speaker 3: All right? Go ahead, Taylor.
- 21:06Speaker 4: And then when they say it's an 8 to 10 a.m. window.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Yeah, oh, boy.
- 21:10Speaker 4: When they tell you it's an 8 to 10 a.m. window,
- 21:13Speaker 4: I've got a news flash for you. They're showing up
- 21:15Speaker 4: at 9.55 a.m.
- 21:17Speaker 3: All right, so put it on the poll.
- 21:19Speaker 1: If the cable company gives you a window of 8
- 21:22Speaker 1: to 10 a.m., are they showing up at 9.55 in
- 21:25Speaker 1: the morning?
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Yeah, they show up at 9.55 in the morning. And again,
- 21:29Speaker 4: I love AT & T.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:30Speaker 4: They could not have sent an older person to try
- 21:33Speaker 4: to figure out this Wi-Fi situation where I open the
- 21:36Speaker 4: door and I go, oh, no, I think I'm installing
- 21:38Speaker 4: the Wi-Fi now when I see him. Because I know
- 21:41Speaker 4: when my parents ask me for help with technology, it
- 21:44Speaker 4: turns into a whole process. Taylor, can you log us
- 21:46Speaker 4: into the Amazon Prime app? Take a picture of the TV.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Send me the activation code. What's the Wi-Fi password when
- 21:54Speaker 4: I come home? What do you mean, what's the Wi-Fi password?
- 21:56Speaker 4: We don't know what the Wi-Fi... Who has the Wi-Fi password?
- 21:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:00Speaker 1: So are you maintaining the guy was so old that
- 22:04Speaker 1: when he walked in, you were thinking to yourself, hey, buddy,
- 22:07Speaker 1: I got it.
- 22:08Speaker 4: I thought he was going to hand me the modem,
- 22:10Speaker 4: and I was going to have to look up on
- 22:12Speaker 4: YouTube how to set up the Wi-Fi.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Hey, Taylor, what's this? And still.
- 22:16Speaker 4: So he shows up at 9.55, and already I'm like, man,
- 22:20Speaker 4: I really need to get out of this apartment. Right,
- 22:22Speaker 4: but you knew it was.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Going to be 9.55 before, like when they gave you
- 22:25Speaker 1: that window of 9 to 11, or whatever it was,
- 22:28Speaker 1: 8 to 10. You knew it was going to be 9.55, right?
- 22:30Speaker 3: You knew it.
- 22:31Speaker 4: Yeah, so in my mind, when they give you the
- 22:33Speaker 4: 8 to 10 window, I'm like, okay, this guy's going
- 22:35Speaker 4: to be out of the apartment by 10.
- 22:37Speaker 3: You know what I did once? I dared a guy
- 22:39Speaker 3: to get there at 8 o'clock. I did.
- 22:41Speaker 4: So if they gave me the option, hey, pay an
- 22:43Speaker 4: extra $ 200 to actually show up at 8 a.m., I
- 22:47Speaker 4: probably would have paid it because that's how much I
- 22:49Speaker 4: wanted to get this internet situation figured out.
- 22:52Speaker 3: I get it.
- 22:53Speaker 4: The guy shows up at 9.55, and I'm asking, like, hey,
- 22:55Speaker 4: I'm supposed to leave soon. Like, how quickly is this
- 22:59Speaker 4: going to be wrapped up? He goes... this is going
- 23:01Speaker 4: to take a while. And I go, oh my God.
- 23:04Speaker 4: And this apartment I moved into.
- 23:05Speaker 3: He's old.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Yeah, this apartment I moved into. We have a great
- 23:09Speaker 4: like ocean view of downtown Fort Lauderdale.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Nice.
- 23:13Speaker 4: And the guy is like setting up the Wi-Fi and
- 23:16Speaker 4: all of a sudden I hear him. He's not setting
- 23:18Speaker 4: up the Wi-Fi. He's just looking out the window. He goes... Man,
- 23:22Speaker 4: great view. Great view from the 26th floor here. I'm like...
- 23:26Speaker 4: Small talk. I'm doing the thing where I'm pretending to
- 23:29Speaker 4: look at my watch. I'm like, my man, please, please,
- 23:34Speaker 4: with some sense of urgency. He's like the New York
- 23:36Speaker 4: Yankee bats up there with no sense of urgency.
- 23:38Speaker 3: I'm looking at.
- 23:40Speaker 4: I believe his name was Salvador. So I was like, Salvador,
- 23:42Speaker 4: we need some urgency here, buddy.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Yes, we should preface this by saying we love Salvador.
- 23:46Speaker 4: I love Salvador.
- 23:47Speaker 3: And AT & T.
- 23:48Speaker 1: And all the cable companies who may or may not
- 23:52Speaker 1: be advertising on this radio show or podcast or on
- 23:56Speaker 1: this network, for that matter. Salvador, we love you. But
- 23:59Speaker 1: it'd be funny if he just all of a sudden
- 24:01Speaker 1: you walk in. He's kicked up his feet. He's having
- 24:04Speaker 1: a little Arnold Palmer. He wants to talk shop with you.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I mean, by the way, you don't tell any of
- 24:11Speaker 1: these guys, right, who come to your house. Hey, I
- 24:13Speaker 1: work at sports radio for a living.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:15Speaker 1: That's rule number one. You don't say that because then
- 24:17Speaker 1: all of a sudden you're talking about. whether or not
- 24:19Speaker 1: the dolphins are going to go windless and it will
- 24:21Speaker 1: last for 45 minutes.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 4: My apartment, like in the room where he had to
- 24:26Speaker 4: set it up was like where my office is. So
- 24:28Speaker 4: I have like a bunch of, a bunch of like
- 24:30Speaker 4: knickknacks in there and everything, whatever. One of the things
- 24:33Speaker 4: I have is a North Carolina football helmet. And he goes, Oh,
- 24:35Speaker 4: North Carolina university, North Carolina. And so exactly to that point,
- 24:38Speaker 4: I'm like, Oh my God, now here we go. He's like,
- 24:40Speaker 4: I actually just came back from Wilmington. I'm like, OK,
- 24:43Speaker 4: Wilmington's not even close to Chapel Hill. It's like telling
- 24:46Speaker 4: somebody you're from New York City and you just visited Buffalo.
- 24:48Speaker 4: I'm like, OK, great. You went to the beaches in Wilmington.
- 24:51Speaker 3: The S in Salvador stands for small talk.
- 24:55Speaker 4: I wanted it to stand for shut up.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Would he still be at your house if you were.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Willing to engage him?
- 25:00Speaker 3: Would he still be there now?
- 25:02Speaker 5: Oh, yes.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Yes. One thousand percent. This has been a problem for
- 25:06Speaker 4: me in the past where I can't get people to leave.
- 25:08Speaker 4: So this is back when I was living in Charlotte,
- 25:11Speaker 4: probably six, seven years ago with with my roommate Ian
- 25:14Speaker 4: at the time.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Yes.
- 25:15Speaker 4: And we had a task rabbit and we hired this
- 25:18Speaker 4: task rabbit to come clean the apartment because we're like, what,
- 25:21Speaker 4: 25 year old guys like we need somebody to take
- 25:23Speaker 4: care of the apartment because we weren't going to take
- 25:25Speaker 4: care of it ourselves.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Sure.
- 25:27Speaker 4: We get a TaskRabbit, and I go to leave for
- 25:30Speaker 4: work for the day, and Ian's working from home. This
- 25:32Speaker 4: is like right around COVID. Ian's working from home. And
- 25:36Speaker 4: the TaskRabbit comes, and the guy's like, it's $ 60 an hour.
- 25:40Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, he's going to be there two hours, 120.
- 25:42Speaker 4: We'll get him out. I'm texting Ian like three, four
- 25:46Speaker 4: hours after the appointment. I'm like, hey, how'd it go?
- 25:49Speaker 4: And Ian goes, the guy's still here.
- 25:51Speaker 3: I go, Ian, what?
- 25:53Speaker 4: What do you mean the guy is still here? This
- 25:56Speaker 4: is now like a $ 300 charge for this guy cleaning
- 26:00Speaker 4: a two-bedroom apartment.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Ian fell for it, huh?
- 26:02Speaker 4: Ian fell for it. I'm telling Ian, like, hey, tell
- 26:06Speaker 4: him wherever he's at, just let us know what he
- 26:08Speaker 4: didn't get to. We'll do the rest. Because this guy, Stu,
- 26:12Speaker 4: I think this guy was... Ian was probably in his office.
- 26:15Speaker 4: This guy saw an empty apartment, and he just kicked
- 26:18Speaker 4: up his feet. He was like, I'll watch first take.
- 26:20Speaker 4: He's getting paid by the hour. I'm getting paid by
- 26:22Speaker 4: the hour. I'll pour myself a nice cold glass of lemonade,
- 26:25Speaker 4: and then I get back to the apartment. This is
- 26:27Speaker 4: the best part. I get back to the apartment. I
- 26:30Speaker 4: look in my room. I'm like, this is not even
- 26:32Speaker 4: that clean. This guy completely robbed us.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Yes, we should preface all of this by saying we
- 26:37Speaker 3: love TaskRabbit.
- 26:37Speaker 4: I love TaskRabbit. If they want to sponsor, I love TaskRabbit.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Get your code, StuGots, if they want to make StuGots
- 26:44Speaker 4: the code.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Wait, so Ian fell for small talk from a guy
- 26:48Speaker 1: who's making $ 60 an hour and is trying to prolong
- 26:51Speaker 1: his stay at your apartment.
- 26:53Speaker 4: So I don't even think Ian fell for the small talk.
- 26:55Speaker 4: I think Ian just left the guy unattended. And you
- 26:59Speaker 4: can never leave somebody unattended who is on an hourly rate.
- 27:03Speaker 4: And ever since then, ever since Ian moved out of
- 27:06Speaker 4: the apartment and I've moved on with my life, I've
- 27:08Speaker 4: always said, When somebody comes, we have a set price,
- 27:12Speaker 4: and we don't have to stray from the hourly because
- 27:14Speaker 4: if you're there 30 minutes, if you're there two hours,
- 27:17Speaker 4: I don't want to be surprised by the pricing.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Right. He watched Get Up.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Yeah. He probably played my PlayStation.
- 27:24Speaker 1: The itemized bill has two hours on Get Up, two
- 27:30Speaker 1: hours first take, and then I start working.
- 27:34Speaker 3: But we love TaskRabbit.
- 27:36Speaker 4: I want to emphasize this because I can't emphasize it enough.
- 27:38Speaker 4: He didn't even do a good job cleaning.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Terrible.
- 27:41Speaker 4: He was the worst cleaner ever.
- 27:43Speaker 3: So 60 times four.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Oh, my God. He absolutely ran up a bill. It
- 27:50Speaker 4: wound up being over $ 300 because eventually I had to
- 27:53Speaker 4: tell Ian, like, tell the guy you're kicking him out
- 27:55Speaker 4: of the apartment right now.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Just leave, dude.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Leave.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Get out.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Get out.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Did Ian tip him?
- 27:59Speaker 4: Turn off, get up, and get out. Get up and
- 28:01Speaker 4: get out.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Oh, gosh.
- 28:09Speaker 1: I wanted to talk about all-time college football teams, but
- 28:13Speaker 1: I'd rather talk about this.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Who knew we had this much? By the way, we
- 28:18Speaker 4: love TaskRabbit. We love AT & T. We do. We
- 28:20Speaker 4: love all our great sponsors.
- 28:22Speaker 5: We love Salvador, I think.
- 28:23Speaker 4: I love Salvador. He wanted to host... Stu, I'm telling you,
- 28:27Speaker 4: this guy knew every detail of Wilmington from what I
- 28:30Speaker 4: can only imagine was like a one-week vacation for him.
- 28:33Speaker 4: He wanted to tell me... The campus was beautiful. This
- 28:37Speaker 4: is where you go get coffee. I go, Salvador, I
- 28:40Speaker 4: just need my Wi-Fi network set up. I promise you,
- 28:43Speaker 4: I will probably never visit Wilmington.
- 28:44Speaker 3: And he's just thinking, cha-ching.
- 28:46Speaker 4: He's like, the beaches and the golf course is fantastic.
- 28:52Speaker 3: He came here.
- 28:54Speaker 1: No one knows North Carolina as well as you do.
- 28:58Speaker 1: And Salvador, the S in Salvador stands for Stigatz, strolls
- 29:01Speaker 1: into your apartment. And because he sees a North Carolina
- 29:06Speaker 1: piece of memorabilia on the wall, all of a sudden
- 29:08Speaker 1: he has become an expert in Chapel Hill.
- 29:12Speaker 4: Yeah. Also, Wilmington is not even close to Chapel Hill.
- 29:16Speaker 3: It's closer to Delaware.
