- 0:00If you, if they're proactive, if this message comes out first,
- 0:03then we're less stressed. We're like, OK, they're they
- 0:05have their eyes on this, I don't have to worry.
- 0:07But when this message comes after, it's like, OK, well, I
- 0:10was worried and you're addressing some of the things I
- 0:12was worried about, but you didn't mention anything else.
- 0:15Victory for the Forsaken. For Lauderon.
- 0:19For the Kieran Tour. For Pandaria, for calendar to
- 0:26the burning region. For Gilnaeus, but has.
- 0:31Not died for the Lich King for the.
- 0:36Sindora for the Alliance for the.
- 0:40Horde for Azeroth. Hello and welcome back to
- 0:47another episode of For Azeroth. I am one of your hosts, Manny
- 0:52AKA The Trueville Manny and it is a two man show today.
- 0:57Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the US that are celebrating
- 1:01that. And yes, I am joined.
- 1:04We're one person down, but I am joined by my fellow Canadian
- 1:09Sean. Hello Sean, how are you and
- 1:11how's the World of Warcraft be treating you?
- 1:13Hello Manny. Hello.
- 1:14I am doing quite well, I hope you are as well.
- 1:16The World of Warcraft has been treating me, I guess about the
- 1:20same as is to be expected, except today they gave me a
- 1:24giant gift of an announcement. So all kinds of hype and a
- 1:29little bit of dread as of right now with today's news.
- 1:33I can definitely get the dread we're going to, we're going to
- 1:37get that to that. I'm sorry to tease everybody,
- 1:40but you'll be happy to know I finally got my first 80 in Lee
- 1:46Mix. I've been slowly trudging away.
- 1:49So I've I've capped out there on on the character, been working
- 1:53through on that. Got most of not all of the
- 1:56cheaper mounts. So the ones that are like 10K or
- 1:59or whatever got most of those and I'm happy that the
- 2:04levelling's done. It's just it is something that I
- 2:08have to just go and do what you were talking about that like run
- 2:14of the dungeons and such. Maybe I should talk to Bega so I
- 2:17can do it do it faster than trying to plug in myself.
- 2:22If you want I I clear the raids. Your best gain of power is going
- 2:26to be doing the raids. I do the raids on mythic every
- 2:29day. Now that you're 80.
- 2:30If you want to come with me, can come with me, but I do it at
- 2:32reset usually. So I don't know what you're, but
- 2:36you don't have. Schedules prevailing.
- 2:38We'll see how it. Goes you just need to be able to
- 2:40log in and stand at the entrance.
- 2:42That's it. I think I can do that.
- 2:44I think I can do. That all right, first we can get
- 2:46you geared out. This is This is awesome.
- 2:47We can RIP through the dungeons too, do all the dungeons on
- 2:50Mythic. Yeah, we are almost at the point
- 2:53where we can carry a 49, my friend and I.
- 2:55So actually we probably can. Now we just three before the
- 2:58show, we just three chested a 43, just the two of us.
- 3:02So we could probably do a 49. That's awesome.
- 3:06This is so much easier for us birds.
- 3:08We don't even the jump in between the teeth where you
- 3:10might get hurt, we just stand back.
- 3:13That's right, the alligator comes to you there.
- 3:15You go all right. If you are listening though, if
- 3:18you're listening to this and you're like, oh man, a lovely
- 3:20dream mix, that's great. But keep listening because at
- 3:23the end of the show, we're going to tell you how you can enter to
- 3:26win an epic edition of the of Midnight right here on YouTube.
- 3:32So listen to the end or maybe somewhere in the middle.
- 3:34Nobody knows where we're going to put where we're going to put
- 3:36it. It's going to be a mystery where
- 3:37we put it. Or just read whatever the top
- 3:39comment says and copy that. But somewhere in there, we're
- 3:43going to put where we're going to be giving away another copy
- 3:45of the epic condition here as long as alongside giveaways that
- 3:49we're doing on Twitter and Instagram.
- 3:52Yeah, three chances to win and those are three separate
- 3:55contests, so you could enter all three for your best chances.
- 4:00With that said, let's get right into the news then the big
- 4:04announcement that has been making waves, that has been
- 4:08making you excited, you're saying, filling me with a bit of
- 4:11dread, which we'll we'll go into is of course, World of Warcraft
- 4:16Midnight has a launch date. It is officially going to be
- 4:20coming out on March 2nd, 2026. And so mark your calendars
- 4:27folks, talk to your bosses about time off.
- 4:31Make sure that you, if they do don't give you the time off, you
- 4:35contract a convenient little cold around that same time and
- 4:39enjoy. Of course, that means people who
- 4:42are getting early access, you'll be getting at early access three
- 4:44days before we believe that to be February 27th.
- 4:48And then if you have an account that has midnight, that means
- 4:53that this coming reset, you're going to be getting into the
- 4:58housing that's coming with 11 point 2.7.
- 5:01And yeah, this is it guys. This is literally now the
- 5:07countdown to midnight. Everything is going towards the
- 5:11new expansion. And Sean, you had been making
- 5:18guesses. You had marked your calendar
- 5:20about where this was going to be, and this isn't quite it.
- 5:24But what? What's your feelings about this
- 5:27date? So I was off.
- 5:29If you go to the For Azurat Discord at bit dot LY slash faz
- 5:33Discord and check the pinned messages in the Our Modern
- 5:36Conversation channel, you'll see that my predicted launch date
- 5:39was February 10th, with the latest being February 17th that
- 5:46I predicted. So if we go by by my latest
- 5:49option, February 17th and then the early access February 27th,
- 5:53I'm only off by 10 days, which isn't too bad for a guest that I
- 5:56made in June. How do I feel about it?
- 6:01I am I'm happy that it's not February.
- 6:06I was really worried that it was going to be February.
- 6:09I am still a bit nervous that this might be too soon.
- 6:13I've I've already seen people say things online along the
- 6:16lines of hey look, see guys, we have all kinds of time.
- 6:19It's March, but when you remove the three weeks for the holidays
- 6:23and Christmas, you're really looking at like 9 weeks of
- 6:27development time now that they have left, which is just over 2
- 6:30months and that makes me nervous.
- 6:35We have a lot of work left to do to get the game at a state where
- 6:39it is playable by everyone and there's no safety net.
- 6:45Like this isn't cooldown manager and 11 point 1.5 where if it
- 6:49doesn't work, it's OK? Everybody can still keep using
- 6:52Tell me when or the week or packs.
- 6:54This is it. This is this is jumping without
- 6:56a parachute. So I'm nervous.
- 6:58I think it's still probably too soon, but I'm glad that it's in
- 7:02March. Also, somebody ran the numbers
- 7:05and this launch date means that 12.1 we'll be launching
- 7:10somewhere around the range of GTA6 launch, which maybe not
- 7:14might be the might not be the best financial decision by
- 7:17Blizzard, but who knows, there might not be a lot of overlap
- 7:21there. Maybe, I don't know, like those
- 7:25sort of juggernaut games. I think they pull from a lot of
- 7:27types. So you're you're right there.
- 7:30I don't think there's any way that I'm not happy that this is
- 7:37later than we initially expected.
- 7:40I'm right there with you. I was already calculating weeks
- 7:44and and everything and be and wondering like, oh man, like how
- 7:47bad this this might be. You're right.
- 7:50This is no safety net. This is them having to land it.
- 7:54When you lock in a date like this, you are now responsible
- 8:01for every mishap that happens along the way, both to the
- 8:05players and the player experience, but also the
- 8:07developers and all the crunch that they might now suffer to
- 8:11get this out the door in a workable fashion.
- 8:15And I don't need it to be perfect.
- 8:18But when you remove the ability for players to compensate, it's
- 8:22like we said last week, it's now on them.
- 8:25So hey, we've got a lot of episodes to go through and some
- 8:32of the things that we're seeing are in the right direction.
- 8:36The question is, is it fast enough?
- 8:39Do we have the velocity regardless of like the
- 8:42direction? Yeah, but as I was saying, that
- 8:49means that if you've bought Midnight or you've you've got
- 8:53one of the digital versions, that means that you will be
- 8:57getting housing next week. And Blizzard has a special
- 9:01contest that is all about housing.
- 9:04So, Sean, can I get you to read our next story?
- 9:07Yeah, so there's a new competition coming up called
- 9:10World of Decor Craft, Azeroth's next top builder, and this is
- 9:15what looks to be like a home and garden style reality show being
- 9:20hosted by Zeppela S fan and Annie Fuchsia, who will be
- 9:24judging neighborhoods and houses built by people who apply you.
- 9:31The the December 2nd is the kickoff event live on Twitch,
- 9:34with the 3rd to the 9th being the build week.
- 9:36And then December 10th will be the finale event live on Twitch.
- 9:40And the criteria for this, the finalists are going to have to
- 9:42build a house in World of Warcraft and show it off.
- 9:44And the judges won't be just looking for the prettiest house.
- 9:47They're going to be looking for creativity, resourcefulness and
- 9:49self-expression. In order to enter, there's a
- 9:52form you have to fill out and then they're going to be
- 9:54selecting people that can enter. So this isn't just open to
- 9:57anyone. They are going to be selecting
- 9:59the potential, the potential competitors and then introducing
- 10:05them in the kickoff stream. And then they'll build their own
- 10:09schedule throughout the week with a midweek check in from the
- 10:11hosts. It's and they're giving away a
- 10:13bunch of stuff. So they're giving away a
- 10:14physical collector's edition of Midnight.
- 10:17They're giving away a housing mug, that sweet one that they
- 10:19sent to Manny. And they're also giving away
- 10:22some holiday sweaters. And everybody's going to get the
- 10:24Epic edition code. All six finalists will get a
- 10:27copy of a code for the Epic edition and some wow game time.
- 10:31Man, this is pretty exciting stuff.
- 10:32It's, it's fun. It was only a matter of time
- 10:35before we started seeing these HGTV shows start popping up
- 10:38around housing, and I'm not surprised that this first one is
- 10:43starring such big names like S Fan, Danny Fuchsia, and Zeppa.
- 10:47I'm happy to see this. I saw this and I immediately
- 10:49thought of you, Sean. I was like, this is this is what
- 10:51Sean wants, where you get to see all this wonderful creativity
- 10:55and you don't have to get frustrated trying to build it
- 10:57yourself. And as I was thinking about
- 11:00this, I put myself in your shoe, Sean.
- 11:02I was just sort of like, yeah, I would love to see an amazing
- 11:06dream house or like a perfect little kitchen, but I ain't
- 11:09going to screw with that myself. And it felt right.
- 11:13So I, I like this, I like this a lot.
- 11:15I was looking at those prizes and being like, man, I would, I
- 11:19would love to get that, those prizes yourself.
- 11:21Like even if you're second or third place, which you know, is
- 11:27still an achievement, I want that holiday sweater, man, I
- 11:30want that holiday sweater. And there's nothing to scoff at
- 11:33when you get like 6 or 8 months of game time.
- 11:37So yeah, lots of lots of good stuff there.
- 11:40The application is only open until Thursday, November 27th at
- 11:4712:00 PM PST, which is tomorrow. I will end this episode fast and
- 11:56get it out to give you as much notice as possible, but get your
- 12:00applications in there. I'm looking forward to this.
- 12:03I'm going to definitely check out the finale and probably
- 12:07check out the kickoff event just to see what see what it is and
- 12:12see all that creativity because I I think this is exactly what
- 12:15the doctor ordered for somebody who isn't engaging directly like
- 12:18myself. Yeah, it's.
- 12:20Going to be great, can't wait 10 out of 10.
- 12:22My money is on I think the finalists without knowing who's
- 12:26even entering. I would like to see for
- 12:27finalists Miss Marvel, the Cottage Wizard, Mega Art and
- 12:35Persephone. Those four have been like the
- 12:37most active housing people housing mains that I've been
- 12:41watching. They all do amazing stuff.
- 12:43I would be shocked if at least two of them aren't in the
- 12:45finalists. Well, the weird thing about the
- 12:47finalists is that it's three Alliance and three Horde.
- 12:51So if all four of those, I think I've seen them all running
- 12:53Alliance Cottage core kind of stuff.
- 12:57Yeah, maybe. So they would knock each other
- 12:59off so. So now you've got like 3 wild
- 13:01cards on the word side. Yeah, 3 mud huts.
- 13:05Good luck. 3 mud huts is flying for the win.
- 13:12Yeah, like I I, I do think that this is going to be a fun thing.
- 13:16I'm hoping that it's not just celebrities.
- 13:20If you are entering, you don't need a webcam, you don't need to
- 13:23be streaming. You just need to be able to call
- 13:26in and speak on voice. That is a requirement for this.
- 13:32But even if you don't have early access because you don't have
- 13:37the the expansion being selected, they will flag your
- 13:41account and give you early access.
- 13:43So it doesn't matter. Anybody can make an attempt to
- 13:47be a competitor. You don't have to pre purchase
- 13:49for this and I love that. OK, with that said, let's let's
- 13:55turn to a little bit of catch up because as soon as we recorded
- 14:00last episode and between last episode in this episode, we've
- 14:04gotten a number of Blizzard posts that talk about various
- 14:07things that we were covering last episode.
- 14:10And it circles back to what a streamer that I that I frequent
- 14:15has been saying these kind of conversations need to happen
- 14:21ahead of time. It is I, I think it was called
- 14:27gaslighting For them to come after the fact six days later
- 14:31and say and, and say, oh. We were always looking for.
- 14:34Feedback. That's going to be a common
- 14:38criticism, so I'm just going to put that up front right now.
- 14:42I'm not sure what streamer it is that you're watching that's
- 14:44having such incredibly insightful takes, but they sound
- 14:49extremely attractive, yeah. I'm sorry to let you know
- 15:01they're, they're taken. They're they're not married, but
- 15:03they do have a permanent partner.
- 15:05Yeah, Yeah. She's probably fantastic.
- 15:10So Sean, do you want to take this away?
- 15:13Yeah, so we're talking about damage meters.
- 15:15So the community has been upset about damage meters.
- 15:18We got them. Damage meters were released to
- 15:21us for the raid and immediately it was noticed that they are
- 15:24lacking in some areas. No death recount in there, no
- 15:29enemy damage done. So you can't tell who's doing
- 15:31what damage to what mobs. No, missing a lot of fine detail
- 15:36breakdowns that we have in details now and we've had in
- 15:39damage meters for a long time. So the community was was upset
- 15:43and rightfully so and voiced it. And Blizzard responded with an
- 15:50article that said, hey, woah. Just so everybody knows, and
- 15:54this was from show favorite community manager Kyvax.
- 15:59No shade to the other community managers.
- 16:01I just I love Kyvax. I came out and said, hey,
- 16:04listen, we these are a work in progress.
- 16:07We wanted to get them to you in this state.
- 16:10Now we know they're missing stuff, but we wanted to get them
- 16:14in your hands for the raid testing.
- 16:16Don't worry, here's some of the things that are going to be
- 16:18coming to it. And then they mentioned that
- 16:21damage from sources like Whirlwind and Immolation or will
- 16:23be consolidated into a single event.
- 16:25They manage that self damage sources like Stagger and Burning
- 16:29Rush will not be showing up. That is a bug, which we all knew
- 16:32was a bug, but people were still like really angry that it was
- 16:35happening because it's something that was solved a long time ago.
- 16:38But they're going to fix it. Don't worry, that was planned.
- 16:40Pets and guardians are going to be intermingled and then move to
- 16:43the bottom. They're going to be improving
- 16:45some of the default settings. They're going to be implementing
- 16:47a damage taken breakdown because right now there isn't 1A death
- 16:51recap in future builds, which is several weeks out.
- 16:54And then they closed with a, with an explanation saying that,
- 16:58you know, they put this out before implementing this because
- 17:01they wanted early feedback. They wanted it in our hands, but
- 17:03this was always the intent. And Kyvax, the message is good.
- 17:11That message that you sent is good.
- 17:13And I obviously realized that the community managers aren't
- 17:16the sole responsibilities for what gets said.
- 17:19And when it's just, this happens to be a case of we're going to,
- 17:22to address the messenger, even though the messenger may not
- 17:24have been the the deciding factor.
- 17:27This messaging needed to come Tuesday before we got into the
- 17:32raid, having it come afterwards. So because, and it's like, I
- 17:37need to, you know, do this calmly and stay calm while I do
- 17:40this. A lot of people in the
- 17:41community, it's it's it's I've been really frustrated this week
- 17:43because when the trans mug news hit that we're going to talk
- 17:46about a lot of people who don't, a lot of people when the trans
- 17:50mug news came out, urinated blood like they screamed murder
- 17:58over the, the price of things in trans mug and how horrible it
- 18:01was and how Blizzard wasn't listening.
- 18:02And then when people were giving feedback on the damage meters,
- 18:05those same people were like, oh, you one percenters don't care.
- 18:08The damage meters don't even matter.
- 18:10You're going to use logs anyway. And it's like, listen, I get it,
- 18:13You don't understand how valuable a tool a damage meter
- 18:16is in the dungeon. I understand that.
- 18:18That's OK. You don't have to know.
- 18:20Maybe you have somebody else on your A-Team who does know, or
- 18:22maybe you're not doing content where it matters.
- 18:24But for a lot of people, that damage meter is a great tool.
- 18:27It's much better than logs because you can't check logs mid
- 18:30pull. When we were giving this
- 18:33feedback, we were worried about it.
- 18:34And then they came out and said this message.
- 18:36And then all those people were like, see, we told you it's
- 18:38beta. We always knew this was going to
- 18:41be the case. But here's the thing, folks,
- 18:42here's my issue. All of those people coming out
- 18:45saying that talking down to people who are worried about
- 18:48this, this feature that's coming that has no alternative when we
- 18:52go live, this is it. You get this damage meter.
- 18:54There's no other option. There's no Plan B.
- 18:57It is Plan B. It's Plan B, Plan C and Plan B
- 19:01when it comes out, yeah, I mean, it it, it might come out in this
- 19:05state and we're giving this feedback.
- 19:06If we don't know ahead of time, if this message comes ahead of
- 19:08time, then a lot of these concerns people have, they're
- 19:10not even worried about it and they're worried because we got a
- 19:13cool down manager that launched an 11 point 1.5 without the
- 19:17basic ability to reorder the number of the reorder the
- 19:20position of the abilities in it. So for people to sit online and
- 19:24be like, it's a beta, obviously they're going to give it.
- 19:26Obviously these changes were going to happen.
- 19:28It makes so much sense. It's a well, I would have said,
- 19:31obviously I could put my cool down manager spells in whatever
- 19:33order I want, but I couldn't do that for two patches, man.
- 19:38So anyway, the point is it's a good message.
- 19:42It's it's great that they're alleviating our concerns a
- 19:45little bit. We still don't know what
- 19:47features will or won't make it for launch because they have
- 19:49told us flat out not everything's going to make it
- 19:51for launch. We are going to have collateral
- 19:53damage. But this messaging, and we're
- 19:56going to see this again and two news stories, this under the the
- 20:00very next news story. But this messaging needs to come
- 20:04beforehand. Please start being proactive
- 20:06with it 'cause when it comes after, like Manny's extremely
- 20:09attractive, successful streamer friend said, it feels a little
- 20:13bit like you're gaslighting us when you say it afterwards.
- 20:17Anyway, yeah. Is that about sum it up, Manny?
- 20:20Is that? About cover everything, I guess
- 20:25the the next step is to find everything that he didn't
- 20:28mention on this list and and go in the replies what about this
- 20:33what about that? Because the problem with not
- 20:38being proactive is that nobody knows what you have eyes on and
- 20:45what's falling between the cracks.
- 20:47And it would have been so much easier for the Warcraft
- 20:56developers to maybe have had a summit of, of various creators
- 21:05of add-ons and say, what have you found are the most desired
- 21:11and wanted features? And you know, have had that
- 21:15dialogue to then say, hey, community, this is what's
- 21:20coming. This is what's coming.
- 21:23It's not all going to be implemented right away and go
- 21:27from that because even with that kind of conversation, something
- 21:34that we would, something that we would put forward in a as like,
- 21:45hey, this is important is because we assume other things
- 21:49are going to land correctly. Right.
- 21:53Right. And when you get something like
- 21:56name bars flying all over the place, I swear that was not on
- 22:00my list of things Blizzard better get straight.
- 22:04But having having now experienced it, I'm like come
- 22:08on, why is this not something Blizzard got straight?
- 22:12How is this possibly tied to the API we've turned off?
- 22:18The secret value is knowing what position the mob is actually in.
- 22:22Secret value says knowing how screwed you are.
- 22:25Oh my goodness. Yeah, it it, you're right.
- 22:29It's like you nailed it. It's if you, if they're
- 22:31proactive, if this message comes out first, then we're less
- 22:35stressed. We're like, OK, they they have
- 22:36their eyes on this, I don't have to worry.
- 22:38But when this message comes after, it's like, OK, well, I
- 22:41was worried and you're addressing some of the things I
- 22:43was worried about, but you didn't mention anything else.
- 22:45Whereas if the message comes first, then we're not so hyper
- 22:48fixated than the things they don't mention.
- 22:51Yeah, it it's, it's cause for concern.
- 22:53And I really hope we see a shift after the Thanksgiving break of
- 22:59these these messages preceding. Have them come out with the
- 23:03patch notes. You know, it's Tuesday.
- 23:05We're getting a new beta build. Here's your dump here.
- 23:08You know, especially if you have known bugs, like if you have a
- 23:11known bug, just say this is a known issue and they have done
- 23:14that. It's not like they don't know
- 23:16how to do that. They have done that this beta
- 23:18cycle with the edit mode. When the edit mode button was
- 23:21disappeared on alpha, it was the last line of the patch notes.
- 23:24We know the edit button. The edit mode is missing here so
- 23:26you can get around it. I mean nobody read to the
- 23:28bottom. They all kept asking where the
- 23:29edit mode was. I was like oh alright just
- 23:32scroll. I get I maybe if I was blows.
- 23:33I'm like you know what? F them.
- 23:34They're not even reading this. But but the conversation in the
- 23:38community is, come on, you didn't read the last last line.
- 23:41There it is, which is a completely different like that's
- 23:44no, as a as a person who maybe if I was the the guy, like who
- 23:52was the community manager, you know, the community going
- 23:56amongst themselves and being like, Hey, it's our last line.
- 23:58Just do this is far different than like everybody, like, Oh my
- 24:02God, it's not working. And like my God, they're going
- 24:05backwards in time and builds. Yeah, this is like scatter.
- 24:11Shut up to scatter, by the way. Great damage meter.
- 24:13Great damage. Meter, but I'm happy to see
- 24:18these changes. Honestly, I think that the, the
- 24:23stuff that I really want to see with the damage meters is stuff
- 24:29that I, I think that they're going to implement like it every
- 24:32time they do these these things and opens up, there's always the
- 24:35like your screen goes a little bit dim and it's like, Hey, make
- 24:38sure you click this for this option, Make sure you click
- 24:40through this. And every single time because
- 24:43like I'm being on the, I've been on the beta, I've read the
- 24:46articles, blah, blah, blah. I go, I just want to skip this,
- 24:48but that stuff I know they're going to put in, right?
- 24:51And so when I was saying, hey, it's unintuitive, I didn't hark
- 24:55on that that much because they have a proven track record.
- 24:59But as Sean has said multiple times, right, they have launched
- 25:04stuff without crucial features. And so other things I am very
- 25:09much concerned about. And so they need to address,
- 25:12address that not just based on like what they know is coming,
- 25:16but what they've actually communicated to us.
- 25:22With that said, I'm going to skip around a bit because I'd
- 25:27like to actually speak. About the same messaging coming
- 25:31up next. I'd like to talk about the
- 25:34mythic plus. OK, right.
- 25:36I'd like to talk about the mythic plus.
- 25:39They've they once again, we had that conversation last week.
- 25:44I was talking about some particular things.
- 25:47I had the complaint of Peter saw on being like, my goodness, this
- 25:52is the this is the worst case scenario.
- 25:54It it is so ridiculous. And then juxtaposing that we're
- 25:59saying like it's not even consistent.
- 26:02And then we get these hot fixes which hit the pit of saw on and
- 26:07another dungeon where number one on the list is we've reduced the
- 26:12mob density. And a big point on Pintasaron is
- 26:17the spam casting ads that I hated.
- 26:21They're just gone. They're gone.
- 26:24And so like, I remember watching you running, running this and it
- 26:31was like, this doesn't seem as bad as I remember because I
- 26:33hadn't seen this update. And I wish they had said, hey,
- 26:38we're putting this forward. We're we are already concerned
- 26:41about this and this. What was your impression of all
- 26:47of these? Because, again, it's still a
- 26:49work in progress and I think it still needs some improvements.
- 26:53Yeah, it's tough. It's, I had a talk today with
- 26:56Elsmere that was really good, really insightful, very
- 27:00passionate about the game and where the direction we're headed
- 27:03and everything. And one of the things that he
- 27:05pointed out is it's really tough to give feedback because as
- 27:09Blizzard has said, and as we have said, it might be Manny's
- 27:11favorite phrase, none of these things exist in a vacuum.
- 27:15So we've got class changes, we have UI changes, and we have
- 27:18dungeon testing to do. And then the whole entire
- 27:21philosophy of reduced complexity, reduced cognitive
- 27:24load, but for the same challenge that you're used to.
- 27:28And it's hard to judge how good or bad to the dungeons are when
- 27:34you're also fighting your UI in order to do some of the things
- 27:39in the dungeon. So when I tested through, they
- 27:41hadn't yet put the nameplate fix in yet.
- 27:44So nameplates were still sort of jumping all over the place.
- 27:46And the bug still exists. It is being addressed.
- 27:49But the bugs was still exists where nameplates have mobs that
- 27:52weren't in combat with you were like in amongst your nameplates
- 27:55that you were in combat with. So that's tough.
- 27:59And I really struggle. I am really struggling with the
- 28:02loss of information when it comes to external defensives
- 28:07that are available, AOE stops and kicks that are available
- 28:11from my party, and I imagine my healer friends are becoming even
- 28:15more frustrated than not knowing what defensives other players in
- 28:17the team have and that that was that was part of that.
- 28:22So I'll try to ignoring the UI issues, thinking just of the
- 28:29dungeons themselves. I would say that they're in a
- 28:33decent starting point, I think, but they they still are going to
- 28:39need lots of changes to bring them in line with the new world
- 28:44we live in where we just have no idea what any of our friends are
- 28:48capable of doing. Throat.
- 28:51And I actually, it's funny, I talked to Angie Lee about this,
- 28:52who only plays Warcraft that is very superficial level and
- 28:55explained to her the new changes that were happening and and that
- 28:58kind of information that we were losing.
- 29:00And she was like, well, that's so stupid.
- 29:01If this was real life and you were standing next to your
- 29:03friends, you would know if they could do something.
- 29:05And I'm like, yeah, yeah, I would, you know, if you have
- 29:11Anyway, it's just it was it was something that she thought was
- 29:14funny. So for the most part, I think
- 29:16these are OK Ick and Crick can suck.
- 29:19They are Ick and Crick is not. I'm a very good rhymer Manny,
- 29:23but Ick and Crick was not fun. The interrupt requirement on
- 29:29that fight is very high. There are three ads that are
- 29:32spawned. One of them casts A1 shot cast
- 29:36that you have to interrupt. The other two cast channeled
- 29:38interrupts or straight channeled spells that do a lot of damage
- 29:42that you want to interrupt and then you have to like target
- 29:44focus target, kill them. But only interrupts work, so
- 29:48stuns and CCS don't work. So now you're limited.
- 29:51You only have 4 'cause your your healer won't have one unless you
- 29:53have a resto shaman. Yep, maximum and we have because
- 29:56you have particular classes that just don't have interrupts.
- 29:59Yeah. So we we had four out of five
- 30:02people in our group were in voice comms and even we
- 30:05struggled to coordinate the kicks on that fight.
- 30:09And while that's happening, there's area of the Nile
- 30:11happening with the tank mechanic.
- 30:13Ick has a ton of health, so you're constantly moving him on
- 30:17and off of ads that you want to be cleaving that a priority
- 30:19kill. It was just a miserable fight,
- 30:21which was unfortunate because the other two bosses in that
- 30:24dungeon felt really good. Scourge Lord Tyrannus got a huge
- 30:28blow up from his wrath version. I would like I would say he was
- 30:33fun to do, very easy to understand the mechanics,
- 30:36everything. So Ick encrypt was rough and,
- 30:38and we struggled with the, like I said, the the lack of
- 30:41knowledge of who has what available.
- 30:43It's I, I know that they think that it's a competitive
- 30:47advantage. And it's not just a competitive
- 30:49advantage like it, it's, it feels required, like it, it, it
- 30:53is an advantage to know what people have interrupts
- 30:56available, what externals are available.
- 30:58But the solution shouldn't be to take that away from everybody.
- 31:01It should be to make it more obvious to everybody because it
- 31:05is so integral in doing keys at any level above 2.
- 31:11Like to not know even if you're in a pug now, I just don't know
- 31:14who's got kicks. So we're all going to overlap
- 31:16our kicks on the first cast every time.
- 31:19And then I don't know if you have a defensive.
- 31:21So do you need intervene? Do I need to sack you?
- 31:24I don't know. I don't know what defenses you
- 31:25have. I hope we're in voice comps.
- 31:27That's the only way. And you know, as a tank, can I
- 31:30call for can I call for iron bar?
- 31:32Can I call for guardian Spirit? And we don't know.
- 31:35And we're going to have to be in this world where it's just like,
- 31:37I don't know. It's it's it's rough, but that's
- 31:40not the dungeons. The dungeons specifically felt
- 31:43OK Algathar Academy, I think is going to suffer a lot from the
- 31:48change to name plates. One of the things Blizzards like
- 31:51the specifically the coloring mobs based on their type.
- 31:55One of the things Blizzard said was that they would they would
- 31:57adjust their naming convention so that it's easy to tell what
- 32:00mobs are casters and what mobs aren't, and they would do things
- 32:04like with the designs of the mobs as well.
- 32:06Well, in Alcather Academy, 60% of the mobs are an axe, a wand,
- 32:12or a book. Those are not very big models to
- 32:15see when you're playing at Max zoom, which a lot of people do.
- 32:19I will say though, I am not expecting a book to be a melee
- 32:22beater. I think I can successfully
- 32:25expect that the wand is a caster as well.
- 32:30Yeah, yeah. Yeah, you're right.
- 32:31You're right, but then it it goes to like the Dragons and it
- 32:36goes to some of the other characters, like the bugs that
- 32:38fly around the main area. They cast stuff you don't really
- 32:40know anyway, it's so it it felt okay.
- 32:44There's changes to oh, this is I want to highlight this.
- 32:46If you are listening to this show and you have played
- 32:49Dragonflight any season and you are getting ready to go into
- 32:52midnight and you're going to do Alba Thar Academy, they have
- 32:55changed to the way Kroth works. Kroth is the big bird, so in
- 33:00Dragonflight he would do a screech that every time he did
- 33:03it put a stacking debuff on the party when he threw the orbs out
- 33:08for kick a tall or whatever it's called.
- 33:12That rudest wind mechanic thing, yeah.
- 33:14Yeah, you would delay holding it, you would get pick up the
- 33:17ball and you would delay. No, it's it was never a channel.
- 33:23It was, it used to be. No.
- 33:25So it used to be his AOE screech would happen.
- 33:27Yeah. And that puts a debuff on.
- 33:29It's it's big damage, puts a debuff on the party.
- 33:31And then when you kick the balls through, it resets your stacks.
- 33:36So you would delay usually till about four stacks of the screech
- 33:39debuff before kicking that that third ball through.
- 33:43That has changed. Now it is a cast that he starts,
- 33:47the balls spawn and it's a very long cast.
- 33:49It's like 8 seconds, maybe 10 seconds.
- 33:52And if that cast gets off, it's just massive damage and you're
- 33:56going to die. So you're no longer delaying
- 34:00kicking the balls through. As soon as those balls spawn,
- 34:03you want to kick the first two through fast.
- 34:05You can hold on to the last one and kick it through just before
- 34:07his cast finishes, but you have to kick it through before his
- 34:10cast finishes. Otherwise it's going to be a bad
- 34:13time. So if you're going into
- 34:15midnight, that boss has changed. It's no longer delaying and
- 34:19holding on to those orbs. So please, please, please keep.
- 34:21If you're if you take nothing else from this episode today,
- 34:25take that and the fact that we're doing a giveaway over on
- 34:27YouTube. You can enter by just putting
- 34:29Faz gift in the description or in the comments of this video.
- 34:34There we set it in the middle. Nobody will ever guess.
- 34:37Got to be paying attention and put fast gift in the comments of
- 34:39this video. OK.
- 34:42Oh, and be following be following the the YouTube
- 34:44channel or subscribe to whatever it is.
- 34:46So again, a lot of this stuff is the right direction.
- 34:53It's just a matter of can, can they do this this in time?
- 34:58I know we're talking about mechanics and I feel like that
- 35:00stuff can, well, at least it has one additional week before the
- 35:06Mythic plus season opens up before we get into Season 1.
- 35:09But the entire behaviour and renaming mobs and and making
- 35:16sure that things are clear, that's part of the philosophy
- 35:20that they're putting down. And so that stuff I feel is
- 35:23something that should be like just going through the list and
- 35:28being like, do those have similar names?
- 35:30Do they have different functions?
- 35:32All right, we got it. We got to change that.
- 35:35And it's something that. Sorry, it's they don't have like
- 35:40even visually. So that's something I said is I
- 35:44would want every soap mechanic to look the same.
- 35:48Like if it's a soap, I want it to look the same so that I know
- 35:51this is a soap. If it's a frontal to avoid, I
- 35:54want it to always look the same so I know you know if it's a
- 35:56thing to get out of. They should all look the same.
- 35:58There should be no variation. Maybe the color, but that should
- 36:01be it. It should be easy for people to
- 36:03know what this is, and they do have a pretty good one for
- 36:05soaks. You get those little swirls that
- 36:06come up off of them that tells you if it's a soak.
- 36:09But you need to implement this stuff.
- 36:11Sky Reach has 0 new graphics there.
- 36:15In it there are two mobs that do frontals.
- 36:17One of them is a boss, one of them is a trash mob.
- 36:19The only indicator that a frontal is happening is that the
- 36:21enemy puts it's hand up. That's it.
- 36:24And then you have to be able to figure out what direction it's
- 36:27facing and then you have no idea Is it a line?
- 36:29Is it a cone? Is it 180°?
- 36:32There's and when I say like, there's no indicator.
- 36:34It's not like, oh, it's a slight indicator, there's no indicator.
- 36:38It's this prior knowledge of that of that boss.
- 36:40It's the only thing that's going to save you, which is something
- 36:43Ian was talking about about like, hey, does the does that
- 36:48knowledge carry through? Is that part of like like
- 36:52mastery of the game is like applying that knowledge.
- 36:55And I think there's a happy medium I have.
- 36:58I have no issue with like this boss having a frontal that is a
- 37:03line mechanic versus this boss having a a cone.
- 37:07But I feel like it needs to be properly telegraphed.
- 37:14We were talking about the ray ray testing last week and how
- 37:17there's that line for the one boss in the dream rift that
- 37:22like, I don't want to know was I like one toe in or or not.
- 37:26I want to know that that line is there.
- 37:29And I think that even if after the effect, the it's clearly
- 37:34shown that this is where that line was, it does.
- 37:37It really needs to be clear when the birds blow up in Sky Reach,
- 37:42right? I know.
- 37:42I want to know what that circle was and what the circle of the
- 37:45ashes was to see that overlap. I don't want to be like, oh, I
- 37:48was, I had this the slightest little bit of a Venn diagram,
- 37:52and that screwed up my run. Like that's, yeah, that's how
- 37:55you get frustration. And that's not changing the
- 37:58timing of any of these things. It's just better telegraphing,
- 38:02which is a issue that they were solving in the war within.
- 38:06And it's just that much more important now that they're
- 38:09taking away all these other things that were adjusting for
- 38:13mental load in other places. So overall, really good changes.
- 38:17Really happy to see the caster changes in the Pit of Song
- 38:21because I was very upset about that dungeon in particular.
- 38:26Looking forward to seeing some more changes because they've
- 38:28only adjusted 2 of the four. And then when we come back next
- 38:33week, we're going to get the other four dungeons for Season
- 38:361. Yeah.
- 38:37When are we going to be able to test and practice with these
- 38:40ones? So, you know, let's see where it
- 38:42goes from there. That said, let's talk about the
- 38:49last boss of the Vortspire, which has been data mined.
- 38:54This was not available for ray testing, but Wowhead was able to
- 39:00see. It was tested.
- 39:01It was tested, yeah. Oh, sorry, wasn't scheduled for
- 39:05testing. People could get in and test it.
- 39:06Yeah, without. Shouldn't have been tested.
- 39:08Shouldn't have been able to be tested.
- 39:11Teams killed the boss prior to this and then had time to pull
- 39:15it. I see.
- 39:16OK. So, Sean, tell us about this
- 39:20unscheduled testing, because last bosses are not for the last
- 39:25little bit have been black boxes that you should not have been
- 39:29able to get hands on experience with.
- 39:31And I wonder if Blister is going to like radically change the
- 39:35boss because of this. Anyways, let's let's deal with
- 39:38that, yeah. I hope they do because the way
- 39:39he looks now not very difficult. So I don't want to give spoilers
- 39:43up for this boss because I know we probably have listeners who
- 39:46like to go into the raid fresh, so I'm not going to go deep into
- 39:48it. I just want to talk about 1
- 39:49mechanic, which was like the main mechanic that people were
- 39:51seeing during the testing. The boss flashes 4 symbols in a
- 39:56random order. They're the same symbols as the
- 39:58RAID markers or world markers. So they flash, flash four in a
- 40:01single in an order, then those four get applied to a person and
- 40:07then those people have to line up and the boss does a beam in a
- 40:10counterclockwise arc and it has to hit the icon, the symbol in
- 40:15the same order that it flashed them.
- 40:18And when this initially came out, people were like, oh, look,
- 40:22see, if we cores existed, they could never have done this boss.
- 40:26And that's wrong. And I don't I'm concerned that
- 40:34you don't know what a week or is if that was your take away from
- 40:37this boss, because the best way to deal with that mechanic would
- 40:43simply be to put a world marker down for each one as it spawns.
- 40:47Everybody you know, you're rave leader probably has world
- 40:49markers on a opie or a quick most wheel.
- 40:52So skull spawns, you put a skull down, diamond spawns, you put a
- 40:55diamond down triangle spawns, you put a triangle down X
- 40:58spawns, you put an X down and then the people just go stand on
- 41:01their marker. That would be the best way.
- 41:03A weak aura can't put world markers down.
- 41:06It simply can't. So this isn't a mechanic that
- 41:10was suddenly unlocked with the removal of weak auras.
- 41:14This was something that they could have done this year, for
- 41:17example, if they wanted to and. It.
- 41:22It sparked so I've, I was, I've been really thinking a lot about
- 41:27the statement that, you know, the arms race, the arms race.
- 41:29And I've said a couple times that I don't really believe that
- 41:31this arms race is real. And it, this really for me
- 41:35solidified that. I I really think it's
- 41:38disingenuous and it's a disservice to the Blizzard devs
- 41:43for them or for the community to say that there's this arms race
- 41:46and that that we Koras limit and restrict their design space
- 41:50because there are 7 bosses this raid tier that don't require
- 41:56weak auras. And it's it, it's one of the
- 41:58most fun and and most exciting raid tiers that I've ever
- 42:01played. And they designed that in a
- 42:03world where recourse exists, there's exactly 1 boss in this
- 42:06raid where you need a weak aura to solve it for you.
- 42:10And that was designed that way by choice.
- 42:13So I. Mean all bosses are designed by
- 42:17choice. Right.
- 42:18Yeah, yeah. Right, right, right, right.
- 42:20So I don't, I, I mean, I don't, I know they've said it, your
- 42:24design space is limited, but this boss is not an example of
- 42:27an opened a design space that was opened up by the removal of
- 42:31we cores. And in all honesty, none of the
- 42:33bosses we've tested, I haven't, we haven't tested anything yet.
- 42:37But none of the bosses we've tested on Heroic show any
- 42:39indication that they were. They had suddenly magically
- 42:42opened up ways and mechanics that they could use that would
- 42:45have been solved by weak cores. And these mechanics are not fun.
- 42:47It's all, it all feels like stuff they could have done this
- 42:50tier. And so it just makes me question
- 42:55even more, why are we in this situation?
- 42:57Anyway? The last boss was tested.
- 42:59If you want to see it, you. Can see it I I do want to I do
- 43:00want to speak on that. I think that you are right in
- 43:06that the main mechanics of the bosses that I have tested or
- 43:10seen tested have not been stuff that couldn't exist in a world
- 43:15with weak horse OK. However, the things that go in
- 43:20around those mechanics are the stuff that the escalations about
- 43:27in this testing versus previous testing, I have seen far less
- 43:35bosses that are like constant compelled movement with short,
- 43:39short, like I need to move immediately.
- 43:42I will say immediately. The exception that comes to mind
- 43:45is the tic tac toe boss. That boss has so many void zones
- 43:50that come out on a regular basis, but in terms of like
- 43:55structurally like how frequently you're pushing your casters to
- 43:59like split move to to avoid something or how much you're
- 44:04expecting players to handle this mechanic but also handle this
- 44:08mechanic. I think there's been a de
- 44:10escalation there in terms of like how many mechanics are
- 44:13overlapping right now, not in the exact way that they do
- 44:17mechanics and how quickly you're able to respond to this mechanic
- 44:22seems a bit more lenient. Like I could see this being
- 44:28something where I would compare it against oh, what's his name?
- 44:33Salador, right? Salador has this tank mechanic
- 44:37where it is ABBA or ABAB sort of sort of thing.
- 44:43And it requires pretty quick reaction time on the tank, spot
- 44:49on the tanks to respond to that. And if I was saying I need to
- 44:54give people more time to react to that intelligently without
- 44:58the use of some assistance right, I could see Salador being
- 45:04slower on how he cast those tank Busters.
- 45:08There's no weak aura for that that like there's not currently
- 45:12a weak aura for that. So it we are already dealing
- 45:14with that with a weak auras that that tank mechanic.
- 45:19Yeah, there's no like no weak, no, there's no weak or that
- 45:22assists you to make that decision faster.
- 45:25It's it like it doesn't exist. So it's not an example of
- 45:31something that was designed like it it it's not the casts aren't
- 45:35the speed they are because we're getting assistance from a weak
- 45:38or on them. There is no weak or assisting us
- 45:41on them. So those casts are just the
- 45:42speed they are. If they slowed that down that
- 45:44would be a massive snooze fest. No, but you're looking at the,
- 45:49you're looking at the, the, the that going along with the, the
- 45:54Dragons coming in from the side as well as the claws going out.
- 45:59I'm saying all the things collapsing in on top of each
- 46:02other. But there's no like there's no
- 46:04weak aura that solves any of that.
- 46:05That's. No, it gives you a heads up of
- 46:07like, hey, you've got the claw on you.
- 46:09Hey people drop off the these circles 2 on this side, 2 on
- 46:15that side like that's that stuff is all with.
- 46:18No, there's. I mean, you might get a, you
- 46:21might have a, a weak or that tells you you have a claw on
- 46:24you. But you should know that anyway.
- 46:26That shouldn't be, but. That's the change that they
- 46:28they've done with with this is that like instead of it being
- 46:31like claw on you, you have to be like, oh, this claw is on me,
- 46:35right? Like in my setup.
- 46:37And I'm not a mythic Raider, right?
- 46:39In my setup, when I get that claw, like it gives me an alert
- 46:43like it is separated from from from everything else.
- 46:47It gives me like a little thing that's like this is how long you
- 46:50have to get out before this claw gets dropped.
- 46:52So I can tie my jump back in, jump back in at at the right
- 46:56time, right? Like the amount of assistance
- 46:58that I have with that on top of the circles where it's like I
- 47:01get assigned to drop your circle off here.
- 47:03I'm not communicating with my team to be like, oh, like my
- 47:07rate leaders like being like Manny and Sean, you 2 are right
- 47:11and you other two people, you 2 are left to drop off the the
- 47:14gravity wells, right? That's being that's being
- 47:18assigned. No, we didn't.
- 47:20I mean, maybe there's a week we didn't.
- 47:23We just told people to make. So we're talking aerobic, I
- 47:25assume we just told people to make a cross with those gravity
- 47:27wells. Are you talking about the the
- 47:30the spiked balls at the end or the big circles and innovation?
- 47:32Balls at the end we just we would put 2 on either side.
- 47:34No, we just, we just put three world markers down and either
- 47:37for heroic, we put three world markers down on either side, one
- 47:40for ranged, one for melee. And we just told people get on a
- 47:42marker there. Nobody's assigned those and.
- 47:45Like you for us, we're going, we're going off.
- 47:48Yeah, like. Yeah, no, I mean, they're yeah,
- 47:50even on even on Mythic, they're not assigned.
- 47:52It's the like the one spot is it's like, hey, go to this world
- 47:56marker, but you don't need a week.
- 47:57Like there's no week or it tells you like that that's assigning
- 48:00you a spot to stand. It's just go to the weak or and
- 48:02then we're just saying in comms whether we're going left or
- 48:05right. Yeah, there's no weak or solving
- 48:07that. It's oh.
- 48:09Yeah, you can you. Could entirely do salad.
- 48:11I could turn all my weak ORS off into Salador.
- 48:14Are there, are there fights, are there other fights like?
- 48:16Fractalis is the only one. Fractalis.
- 48:19The only one. Every other fight you could turn
- 48:21off all your words. Like Fractalis is just like, is
- 48:23that the speed that you have to go to?
- 48:26It's not the speed, it's because there's no way.
- 48:28So you need a week or to do those computational solutions
- 48:31for you. When it's either too fast,
- 48:33there's not enough time to do it.
- 48:34And I guess in fact, this is the case that it's not enough time
- 48:37because there's no set logic to the assignment.
- 48:39Six people are getting assigned wall or sorry, four people are
- 48:44getting assigned wall builds and six people get assigned wall
- 48:47breaks and two sets of four. And there's nothing that says
- 48:52you know these 4, you know it's going to be 1 melee, 1 heeler, 2
- 48:55range. So it's too fast for four people
- 48:58to figure out where to go. Now, you could Lexus team did it
- 49:01on heroic. No Wee Goris killed it in one
- 49:03pole. Yeah, we didn't use the Oris for
- 49:07that. But in Mythic we, yeah, in, in
- 49:12Mythic we, we used it because the fight takes a little bit
- 49:14longer and it's the tank walls are 3 instead of 1.
- 49:17So there's more coordination to go with it.
- 49:20That's why it exists in mythic. But every like literally every
- 49:23single other boss in this raid, you could turn, you could you
- 49:26could uninstall Wekoras, the add on entirely and do all of these
- 49:30bosses. And that's why I'm so
- 49:31frustrated. Yeah, that's why it's so
- 49:34frustrating for me because like, and even in the mention of like
- 49:38a Wekoras saying, hey, you have a claw on you now with those
- 49:41claws, the way to deal with them is usually just to stay still.
- 49:43But a Wekor telling you like, yeah, the dragon claws just stay
- 49:47still. Why would you move?
- 49:49The boss moves around the room. We cut the boss around the room.
- 49:52Oh no, we kept the boss the middle.
- 49:53We just put the claws out. I mean, maybe, maybe it's
- 49:56different heroic. I can't remember specifically
- 49:57heroic, but but yeah, so we and even then you would just run out
- 50:04with the claw. There's you don't need an
- 50:05assignment for that, but the the game itself.
- 50:07It's just like. Yeah, yeah, but the game itself
- 50:09should tell you you there shouldn't be a question.
- 50:11I shouldn't have to think, do I have a debuff?
- 50:13The game itself should be alerting me to the fact that I
- 50:16have a debuff. Either through an arrow on your
- 50:19head, which I think the claws do, put an arrow on your head,
- 50:22or through a screen flash I think was something you
- 50:24mentioned one time that I love the idea of that I don't see
- 50:26ever. That would be great if like the
- 50:29edges of your screen just like that, whatever that the game
- 50:33should tell us. That's like so that that's why
- 50:35it's frustrating for me for them to say, Oh, we we're our design
- 50:37space is restricted by weak auras because they make these
- 50:40things because they make the game.
- 50:43You know, we can't we have to build around them and it's like
- 50:45this entire rate you're in. So last year was worse.
- 50:48You had sticks and you had lock and stock that both required
- 50:51weak auras and mugsy. It was beneficial.
- 50:56You probably need a different mugsy for the jails, but
- 51:00Galliwicks, no weak, not a weak car.
- 51:02Not a single weak car was required for Galliwicks.
- 51:04And that's why it's so infuriating to me.
- 51:06Not infuriating. It's frustrating when they say
- 51:09oh we need, we can't do what we want to do.
- 51:11I'm like, you have made some of the best bosses I've ever pulled
- 51:14in this world where weak cars exist and they don't require
- 51:17weak cars. So you absolutely 100% can
- 51:20design in this space where these things exist and not have them
- 51:24be needed. And that that's why it's
- 51:26frustrating for me for that, for that to be the the reason that
- 51:29we're losing a lot of customization of functionality.
- 51:35Yeah, No, Saladire is I could almost, yeah, you could turn,
- 51:39you could definitely turn off all your recourse and do
- 51:41Saladire. There's nothing that requires
- 51:43assignment marking. You just put world markers down
- 51:45and tell people to go to spots. I, I can see the, I can see the
- 51:49world markers and I'll, I'll say that I, I picked a bad example
- 51:51on that, but I could, I could point out at mythic plus where
- 51:56there is several, several things that people use.
- 52:01We were just talking about even to like track the stops that are
- 52:06needed to keep, keep things under control, which is just
- 52:09like any pack in Mythic Plus, right?
- 52:13That's that's there too. And if it were I, if it were
- 52:18designed like, you know, going back to Vanilla and we've got
- 52:21like classic servers. We've got BCE classic servers
- 52:24coming coming up soon. You had an interrupt and like,
- 52:29yeah, if somebody clipped your interrupt, it wasn't the end of
- 52:32the world because the spells weren't coming so frequently and
- 52:37they were doing the spam casters.
- 52:39And so now they've removed the spam casters as they've shown
- 52:42here in in one place. And I would be, and I think it
- 52:45should be fine where it's not necessary for you to know every
- 52:49single cooldown that's available because not every single
- 52:53cooldown needs to be coordinated, right?
- 52:55Not every single interrupt needs to be meted out so that we have
- 52:59one interrupt every six seconds. And you've only got people with
- 53:0324 second interrupts like that to me is designing around a
- 53:10inhuman level of coordination that we have now started
- 53:14creating in the in the community through use of these add-ons.
- 53:19And I think that is the escalation that that they're
- 53:24talking about where it becomes, hey, I need you to have a
- 53:30defensive for every tank Buster because I expect you to have a
- 53:35defensive for every tank Buster. And if you and now I need to you
- 53:39to have two more on top of that, because I expect you to be able
- 53:43to have and coordinate every single external.
- 53:47And so if you can't coordinate every single external, then
- 53:51Blizzard stop designing for Sean to have to call for every
- 53:55seagull external on the spot. And I think that's the
- 53:58escalation that needs to that needs to be adjusted.
- 54:01And then it becomes skillful for you to be for you to say, hey,
- 54:06this is coming up because the you could still see the
- 54:08timeline. However garbage the Blizzard
- 54:10default timelines are, you could still see the timeline.
- 54:14They're garbage. I'm not, I'm not defending the
- 54:16that that timeline. And I'm really glad that it can
- 54:19be skinned differently, right? But yeah.
- 54:22It's worse if you reskin it because it loads every single
- 54:26bar a boss. It loads every single bar up to
- 54:28the enrage again. For every cast, again,
- 54:30direction, direction, right? It will we get there?
- 54:35We don't know, but I would love for the skill expression to be.
- 54:42I work with a really good healer and they know that I'm going to
- 54:47send on the 1st 2:00 on the first two things, and then I'm
- 54:52going to ask for it on the on the third one.
- 54:55Or maybe you've gotten so good that you just don't have to ask
- 54:57for it from the third one. They just know that.
- 55:00And so that will help you as a coordinated team.
- 55:04That level I don't think should be the default expectation.
- 55:09And I think that when you put in on even the default, like let's
- 55:13say they give you your wish list and you on default, you know
- 55:17every single external they have to design for you to know and be
- 55:21able to grasp every single external that's out there.
- 55:24Right, I want them to. Vanilla's boring.
- 55:26If I wanted to play vanilla, I would play vanilla.
- 55:28No, but I go play classic. I like that it's fast, mate.
- 55:31I like having to have all of my defensives scheduled and planned
- 55:36down to the second. That is fun for me.
- 55:39I I think that would be fine for you and I think that would be
- 55:43fine for top end players. I don't think that it should be
- 55:46designed with that. You need that from A2 plus, as
- 55:49you said, right? And I think that if I were to
- 55:53backseat design, because you've now said that, I think that at a
- 55:56certain point, like let's say when Xalatas Guile comes into
- 56:00play, maybe that's when they speed up the the cadence of the
- 56:04casting that starts requiring you to start getting closer to
- 56:08that level so that people at the low end can miss an interrupt or
- 56:13or two people, people who are getting into the higher end,
- 56:17each interrupt hurts more. And then when you get up to that
- 56:20higher that like highest cutting edge, you need to be on top of
- 56:25that. But I don't think it should be
- 56:26in the base UI because as soon as it gets to the base UI, it is
- 56:30a. It is something that you need to
- 56:32design around people having that knowledge set at their
- 56:36fingertips. Just have it toggle able.
- 56:38Have it be able to be turned off?
- 56:40Toggle doesn't work. Toggle is is a entrapment.
- 56:45If it if it's in the game by default, and even if you have to
- 56:49hit a toggle to opt in, well then you are you are entrapping
- 56:54people for not toggling that on, right?
- 56:59OK, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree.
- 57:03I don't think the people that that that stuff doesn't matter
- 57:05to, I don't think they care. I don't think any of this
- 57:07matters to them. I think this removal of add-ons
- 57:09for people that are playing in that level where a cast can go
- 57:13through and it doesn't kill you and it doesn't matter if you're
- 57:14using your defensives correctly or not.
- 57:16I don't think any like this doesn't even move the needle for
- 57:19them because they were never doing content that was difficult
- 57:22enough for it to matter. So, so there are two points to
- 57:26that, right? I think if they're doing content
- 57:30where it was not difficult for them for it to matter, they are
- 57:33doing content that they're over gearing in some aspect, right?
- 57:41That they're overpowering in some aspect.
- 57:43And I would and I would rather incentives for them to learn
- 57:46better and to push themselves further.
- 57:51Right. Yeah, then it to be.
- 57:53Those people are never going to do that if they wanted to get
- 57:55better. I said incentive.
- 57:56I didn't say that you could lead.
- 57:59You can lead a horse to water you cannot make.
- 58:01It those people wanted to get better, they would be doing it
- 58:04now. They want to over gear it.
- 58:06They want the overpower. They want to get their KSM in
- 58:08the last week of the preseason, of the postseason.
- 58:11That's just who they are and let them be happy.
- 58:14I think that I think there's a there is a subset of those
- 58:16players that are like that for sure, Sean, for sure 100% those
- 58:21people exist. You are 100% right on that.
- 58:24I just don't think that's the entire segment of players that
- 58:27are doing content at lower. No, obviously not.
- 58:29I'm being facetious, people. We need to Lexus in here.
- 58:32Someone's going to spice this up.
- 58:35Manny and I have been too agreeable.
- 58:36All episodes we have, we're. Just on the opposite end for
- 58:38that entire thing. Yeah, that's what that was.
- 58:41It's great. Yeah.
- 58:41Good job 'cause we're about to jump back on the same side, I
- 58:44think. With that said, I'm going to
- 58:48take a little bit of time. Well, actually, sorry, I
- 58:50shouldn't steal this away from you, Sean.
- 58:52I will let you do the patron things.
- 58:54My thing folks, I want to give a special thanks to all our
- 58:57patrons out there. I want you to know, for Azeroth,
- 58:59we'll always be free, but if you enjoy the contest we produce the
- 59:03content we produce, you can consider pledging to our Patreon
- 59:06at patreon.com/FAZ. Or if you're so inclined, don't
- 59:10you jump on your podcast aggregate of choice, whether
- 59:12that's Apple podcast or Spotify or iHeartRadio or Goodreads or
- 59:15whatever, wherever you're consuming us, YouTube and leave
- 59:18us a comment. Five stars preferably also help
- 59:20the show get noticed and helps us get our voices into more
- 59:24ears. I can't think of something
- 59:26better than having more Manny and Sean inside of you, and that
- 59:29is the best way to make it happen.
- 59:31I hear it now. I regret it instantly.
- 59:38Oh man. Well, if if you're going to
- 59:44allow us to be inside of you, maybe you want to look nice for
- 59:47it. And so with that, let's talk
- 59:48about some transmog. That might be my best segue to
- 59:53date. OK.
- 59:54That's pretty good, segue pretty good.
- 59:58So on top of all the damage meters, on top of all the issues
- 1:00:02with Mythic Plus and and and UI stuff.
- 1:00:06Blizzard is also upsetting people who are hardcore in a
- 1:00:10different aspect of play. These are the people who love
- 1:00:14their transmog. And Blizzard for Midnight is
- 1:00:18changing up the way transmog works.
- 1:00:20This is a new system. Wowhead had talked about it.
- 1:00:23Sean had specifically said hey guys, this is not free.
- 1:00:27This is not going to be free. And when Wowhead did a follow up
- 1:00:31article showing how true and how accurate Sean was, well, some
- 1:00:37people were not quite happy. While I had put out an article
- 1:00:42showing the cost that they had looked at on the beta and how
- 1:00:48much it would cost to unlock everything, how much it would
- 1:00:50cost to switch between stuff, how much it would cost to adjust
- 1:00:55these different outfits as you had set them up.
- 1:00:59And it was steep. It was very steep and so there
- 1:01:05was an uproar from all the people that you would expect or
- 1:01:09no, no, not really from all the people you would normally be
- 1:01:12saying oh, they're whining too much now, being really hit by
- 1:01:17A800K price tag to unlock all 20 slots, as well as additional
- 1:01:23costs and fees that may have applied as they were needed.
- 1:01:29So the fine print came in and people were not happy.
- 1:01:33There was an out roar again. The original article was from
- 1:01:38Wowhead, so Blizzard had not put out any explanation ahead of
- 1:01:43time. And then quickly Kyvax, Shawn's
- 1:01:46favorite developer. Show's favorite not.
- 1:01:50Just Shawn's show's favorite. He is mine getting roped up into
- 1:01:55this. He is mine too, but it's better
- 1:01:57if we say it's the show favorite.
- 1:01:58It's what's creepy at BlizzCon when I ask for hug.
- 1:02:00He's the show favorite. He's the show favorite.
- 1:02:03OK, all right, so then the show's.
- 1:02:06Favorite were for Legally Nervous, the show Favorite.
- 1:02:09Yeah, when the really nervous, bald, sweaty guy with a beard
- 1:02:12asks you for a hug, just let him know it's OK.
- 1:02:19So Kyvax went to the Force and posted that hey, this is just an
- 1:02:25early iteration and that the 800K charge was always going to
- 1:02:32be account wide, it just wasn't account wide right away.
- 1:02:35So it wasn't 800K per character, which is, you know, a lot.
- 1:02:41It's only 800 K per account, which is still a lot for some
- 1:02:46people. And then?
- 1:02:49The phrasing made it sound like it was a bug that they had, like
- 1:02:52he's. We're having a hard time getting
- 1:02:53that to work right now, so go OK.
- 1:02:55I wish that had been on the last line of the patch notes.
- 1:02:58Yeah, yeah. And like this makes sense
- 1:03:02because it like they have always been saying for a while that
- 1:03:06they are doing things way more on an account wide level.
- 1:03:10And so I guess it should have felt strange that it that this
- 1:03:14was something that was being done per character.
- 1:03:17But they went further and they were saying that the cost to
- 1:03:20unlock each outfit, the slot would be reduced by 80% and then
- 1:03:29the cost to save a full outfit because you have to save the
- 1:03:32these full outfits. Or if you change part of the
- 1:03:34outfit, if you like, change the entire outfit in that slot, that
- 1:03:37was going to be reduced by 60%. And then they also added thirty
- 1:03:45extra slots. So instead of 20 slots, you can
- 1:03:49now get up to 50 slots to save outfits.
- 1:03:56But they didn't say that that total cost was inclusive of the
- 1:04:0280% reduction. So when you add 60% increasingly
- 1:04:07more expensive slots, that kind of works against the 80%
- 1:04:14reduction. So I could see some people who
- 1:04:15are now wanted to unlock it all at 20 slots now wanting to
- 1:04:20unlock it all at 50 slots, and it might be very much getting
- 1:04:24right back to that 800K price tag again.
- 1:04:27Feels a lot like Black Friday when they change the baseline
- 1:04:30price of the item and then like they mark it up and then say
- 1:04:33it's on sale for 50%. Yeah, there was, I, I want to
- 1:04:39jump in. There was 2 major issues with
- 1:04:41it. So the hey, this is war bound.
- 1:04:44It was going to be always going to always going to be war bound.
- 1:04:45We were having trouble getting it to do didn't get to happen.
- 1:04:49That needed to come out ahead of time.
- 1:04:51The price reductions, that was all due to community feedback.
- 1:04:54So that post that came out today, that these came out
- 1:04:57separate, that post came out today.
- 1:04:58It's fine for that post to come out after the fact.
- 1:05:00We can't. We're not expecting Blizzard to
- 1:05:02be able to read the minds of the player base and know that they
- 1:05:04think 800K is a lot of gold. But why this needed to be
- 1:05:09announced beforehand and announced by Blizzard is because
- 1:05:12Blizzard changed some naming conventions in this transmog
- 1:05:16system that in the Wowhead article people were reading the
- 1:05:20word outfit. So right now, outfit on retail
- 1:05:23is any outfit that you design in the the transmog viewer and save
- 1:05:29it as an outfit. You can save up to 20 of these.
- 1:05:32There's no cost to design them, no cost to save them.
- 1:05:35It only costs to apply them in the new transmog system.
- 1:05:39Those the name of those has been changed to custom sets.
- 1:05:43Those are no longer called outfits.
- 1:05:46Now outfits are the slots that you buy that at the time would
- 1:05:50cost up to 800,000 gold for 20. So people were reading that they
- 1:05:54were losing their outfit slots that they were creating
- 1:05:57transmogana that they would have to pay.
- 1:05:59And so I saw tweets and people on Twitch and now I have to pay
- 1:06:03for something that I get for free right Currently, why would
- 1:06:06they do this? It's like, well, they didn't.
- 1:06:08Those are custom sets. Blizzard needed this because
- 1:06:10this system is such a massive change.
- 1:06:12This had to come. You know, we get those housing
- 1:06:14articles where it's like, here's what a house is, you know, have
- 1:06:17fun in your neighborhood. You have to have the game to buy
- 1:06:20a house. We needed that for this trans
- 1:06:22mug set to come out and it needed to explain the
- 1:06:24differences. Used to be called outfits, now
- 1:06:26called custom sets, still free. And I think they're on capped
- 1:06:29now actually here in this tab over here next to the sets that
- 1:06:34we designed for you that now show up even if they're not
- 1:06:37full, which is a huge like this whole transmark system is so
- 1:06:39good. There's so many wins in this new
- 1:06:41transmark system. And then they needed to explain
- 1:06:43these outfits are not the outfits you're used to now
- 1:06:46they're these slots. And if you're a person who sets
- 1:06:48it and forgets it, you're going to have that one time cost and
- 1:06:51you're never going to pay again. And you're always going to wear
- 1:06:52that same dope trans mug that you wear all the time and it's
- 1:06:54going to be awesome. It was the people who changed
- 1:06:57their outfits a lot that we're going to be hitting, getting hit
- 1:07:00with those high costs. And anybody who wanted to have
- 1:07:02multiple things set up for scenarios, which is the other
- 1:07:05new thing added to this trans mug set where like you can set
- 1:07:07it. So when I'm sky riding, I'm
- 1:07:10wearing one of those sky rider outfits that I got from
- 1:07:12struggling through the dragon races, you know.
- 1:07:15And if I'm underwater I can wear the scuba set that I've never
- 1:07:17put on once. But I had to buy and then
- 1:07:19complain that I didn't have enough traders tenders to buy
- 1:07:21other things even though I bought this thing I'm never ever
- 1:07:23going to wear. Which is a lot like real life
- 1:07:27when I complain that I don't have enough money for something
- 1:07:29but I already own 8 cameras anyway.
- 1:07:33Why do I keep buying cameras Mandy?
- 1:07:35So all these changes are good, but this, this post and the war
- 1:07:39bound announcement had to come before so much.
- 1:07:43And then people can, they can give the feedback like if, if
- 1:07:46all of that is known, if, if we know what outfits are, we know
- 1:07:49what custom sets are, we know what scenarios are and we know
- 1:07:52it's going to be war bound. Then people look at the sticker
- 1:07:55price and they're not freaking out.
- 1:07:59They're still upset because it's still a really high number and
- 1:08:01they can give that feedback, but it's less.
- 1:08:03It's it's like you mentioned, like when we know that you have
- 1:08:06your eye on this stuff already, we're not so worried about what
- 1:08:09what might get missed. And this came out and people
- 1:08:11were just like, Oh my God, well, how is this so much worse than
- 1:08:14what we have now? You know, and I'm just like, we
- 1:08:18still don't have damage taken. I don't trans.
- 1:08:23Also, people need to realize that they're not addressing
- 1:08:26inflation, like the amount of gold you get for a world quest
- 1:08:30in The War Within versus the amount of gold you got for a
- 1:08:33world quest. And Dragonflight and Shadowlands
- 1:08:35has constantly been going up, right?
- 1:08:37The amount of play money just a regular casual player has is
- 1:08:43going to go up. And so the cost of these things
- 1:08:47is somewhat in line with that. Like I, I suspect it would have
- 1:08:51been better in the Wowhead article.
- 1:08:53And I'm not going to ask Wowhead to be, to be less sensational
- 1:08:59about their journalism. That's not, that's not my place.
- 1:09:03But if they had shown the cost of a level 80 doing a transmog
- 1:09:10on live versus a level 80 on beta to actually compare apples
- 1:09:16to apples, I think that this could have really helped a bit.
- 1:09:22If the article had taken some time to say, oh, all of all of
- 1:09:29this here, when it gets shifted over to the beta, means that
- 1:09:33you're going to have to do these costs here, right?
- 1:09:36It would have been better. Now, I do want to say, though,
- 1:09:39that in Wowhead's defense, in the article, which I feel some
- 1:09:44people complaining on the Internet didn't do, they showed
- 1:09:48what you had just said where hey, these sets, they're going
- 1:09:52to be shifted into this new column here.
- 1:09:54And this is where it's going, right?
- 1:09:56So like, I don't I like I want to be I.
- 1:09:58Didn't have that in the title though.
- 1:10:00Manny, I just read the title, but I need the I'm going to need
- 1:10:05Wowhead to start putting all this information in the titles
- 1:10:08because it's all people are reading.
- 1:10:10That's it. They.
- 1:10:11Just need 700 word title, please. 700 word title.
- 1:10:15Yeah, it can. Here's what the title should
- 1:10:17have been. And, and in all honestly, their
- 1:10:18title isn't we're, we're sort of saying that sometimes they're
- 1:10:22sensationalist or click, click baity is a term that a lot of
- 1:10:24people use, but their title is, is not.
- 1:10:26It's like it's pretty pretty pretty plain and accurate.
- 1:10:30It costs up to 5700 gold to save a full transmog to an outfit
- 1:10:34slot in midnight. That's just a fact.
- 1:10:37There's no sensation. But what I need you to add to
- 1:10:40that, Wowhead is also outfits are called something different.
- 1:10:43Now you're going to keep your outfits.
- 1:10:45Also, if you're only changing one piece, it's the last.
- 1:10:47Also, this is at level 90. What is this, an anime title?
- 1:10:51I went to midnight and became a Phantom warrior in a close shop.
- 1:10:57No no no, I do think that it is the the point that they chose to
- 1:11:04highlight is sensational right? My goodness, look at this 4
- 1:11:11figure number to change an outfit slot right with the
- 1:11:16explanation. Of what, An outfit slot?
- 1:11:19Is right. OK, All right.
- 1:11:22Coming further down into the article.
- 1:11:24And so if you are somebody who just clicks through and just
- 1:11:27read the article and then jumps onto Twitter because I don't
- 1:11:31have time to read all of that and look, they got a chart.
- 1:11:33Oh no. Yeah, or doesn't even read, just
- 1:11:36scrolling Twitter sees the headline and then just
- 1:11:39immediately hits quote, retweet and, you know, F you in giant
- 1:11:43letters across the screen. Yeah.
- 1:11:47OK. All right.
- 1:11:48Yeah. So I'm not going to put this all
- 1:11:50on Wowhead, but I feel like they're feeding into this
- 1:11:53deficiency of the Twitterverse, as it were.
- 1:11:57Girls going to girls going to eat Manny girls.
- 1:11:59Got to eat, I guess, I guess. Well, no, no, no shade to shade
- 1:12:05to squishy. They got to get got to get his
- 1:12:07money, got to get his purse. Baby that wasn't.
- 1:12:09Squishy. Who wrote that one?
- 1:12:11Yeah, I don't even know who wrote this one.
- 1:12:12You get that bag, Squishy, You get it.
- 1:12:14It was squishy you get that bag. Squishy, you get that bag.
- 1:12:19Anyways, I I do find that the moral of today's episode is
- 1:12:27proactive communication, which goes a long way and can help
- 1:12:32shape the feedback that they're getting into far more
- 1:12:35constructive and focused means. And so yeah, I'd like to start
- 1:12:41talking about some some other things other than how screwed up
- 1:12:44the UI is. But because it is such an
- 1:12:48important part of the end game and how literally how people
- 1:12:54interface with this game, it is going to be a topic that we are
- 1:12:57going to revisit quite often. Yeah, we'll get there.
- 1:13:03I believe, I believe. That's a better better position
- 1:13:08that you than you were in earlier this week.
- 1:13:11I am pretty sure I said fire everybody and start over.
- 1:13:16I was. I was quite frustrated earlier
- 1:13:19in the week. We've grown since grown since
- 1:13:22then. And hopefully we will grow yet
- 1:13:26again next week. But until next time, may all
- 1:13:28your hits be crit.
