- 0:16gridiron updates this is uh what week 16 game
- 0:20recap episode recap we had a couple overtime
- 0:24games a couple young quarterbacks taking some
- 0:28steps forward We got a couple hosts here this
- 0:31week. Yes, you heard me. We got a couple hosts
- 0:33other than yourself or myself. I guess you guys
- 0:38are hosts now, too. I'm Smelty. Coach. We got
- 0:41Roberto. What's up? What's up, fam? What's up,
- 0:44fam? And then we got new co -host. Hi. Jake,
- 0:50you'll have to excuse Jake's somber mood. I'm
- 0:53in mourning. I'm sorry. If you haven't listened
- 0:55to us before, he's a Ravens fan. That's all you
- 0:57need to know. Yeah, not a good night. No, he's
- 1:00wearing all black. Amazing grace. He's definitely
- 1:02ready. Behind the camera, we got Kev, as always.
- 1:08Hi, Kev. Oh, God. All right, with that, yeah,
- 1:14I suppose that's it. This would be a spot where
- 1:18a real podcast would do housekeeping notes right
- 1:20here, but I don't think we have any, so we'll
- 1:22just move on because we're not a real podcast.
- 1:24So let's move on to our week 16 game recaps,
- 1:27Kev. And to start off game one of our... Five
- 1:39-game slate here. I can't see my keyboard. I
- 1:42got to take this off. Dang. Can you see now?
- 1:47I can see. You can see clearly now? I'm back.
- 1:49All right. Well, the first game we're going to
- 1:52start off here was a freaking doozy. Seattle.
- 1:56It was a good one. Somehow getting the win 38
- 1:59-37 when for a while there was not quite looking.
- 2:02It's an understatement to that game. That was
- 2:04wild and crazy. Game of the year. That's got
- 2:07to be in the conversation. And it wasn't really
- 2:11a collapse either. So maybe. I mean, that punt
- 2:17return, which I think obviously changed the whole
- 2:19game. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say it. Say what?
- 2:23You know. The punt return. What did it do? That
- 2:24punt return did what? Did what? Changed the Momo.
- 2:27Yay! I knew it was coming. I was going to say
- 2:30it. I was like, and then he said, say it. So
- 2:32anyway, I'm sorry. But yeah, I'm doing play by
- 2:35play. But after that, I mean, so that got him
- 2:36down by one score. So I don't think that's what
- 2:41the epic collapse would be. But but but special
- 2:44teams is part of the team. Sure. And they were
- 2:47up 30 to 14 at that moment in time. I mean, who
- 2:50saw that two -point conversion go for a backwards
- 2:53pass, get bounced into the end zone, then Charbonnet
- 2:57randomly picks it up for a two -point conversion?
- 3:01There was so much wrong with that. Enlighten
- 3:05us. Where do you want me to start? What was wrong
- 3:08with it? You thought the call was wrong? Yeah,
- 3:10I do. Yeah, 100%. Okay. So they initially ruled
- 3:15it as like a forward pass. Right. On the field.
- 3:19Yep. And there was a whistle. You can clearly
- 3:22hear a whistle before Charbonnet even picks up
- 3:24the ball at all. And then upon further review,
- 3:27they're saying that it was a backwards pass.
- 3:33Which it was. Well, it was more like a parallel
- 3:37pass, but a parallel pass by definition to that
- 3:39rule still counts as a backwards pass. Allegedly.
- 3:42By that camera angle. I don't think there was
- 3:44enough video evidence for them to even over...
- 3:47turned their initial calling before it even went
- 3:50under further review because Sky Judge was like,
- 3:54oh, no, it's a backwards pass. We never got to
- 3:56see what Sky Judge saw. We never do. We never
- 3:59get to see what they actually see. There's so
- 4:00many freaking times. You're trying to steal the
- 4:02curtain of the script, right? Because the replay
- 4:04they kept replaying was never down the line of
- 4:06script. It was on the defensive side. You can
- 4:08make an argument that there's not clear and obvious
- 4:11video. You sound upset about this. I've been
- 4:16frustrated with... He's a Matthew Stafford fan.
- 4:18That's what's going on. There's some residuals
- 4:20from the Steelers -Ravens game that's been pent
- 4:22up in me about what is and isn't a catch. That's
- 4:26a separate thing, and we always... All players
- 4:30and all teams have to play better than the ref's
- 4:32ref in order to win a game. So... So what you're
- 4:36saying is that Seattle should not have been three
- 4:38for three in their two -point conversion. Correct.
- 4:40And even if they did say, hey, that was a fumble,
- 4:44there was a clear whistle before Charbonnet even
- 4:47picked it up, which would have killed the play
- 4:50at that point. Yeah, but isn't it like who would
- 4:54most likely pick up the ball or was nearest or
- 4:57some kind of weird, goofy loophole, lemon law?
- 5:02i'm sure there's something more in there about
- 5:04if no like if there's no clear possession then
- 5:08the play's just dead clearly they picked it up
- 5:10and they gave him two so after the whistle after
- 5:13the whistle so so official statement from jake
- 5:18is not does not agree with that no He's out.
- 5:22He's out. The officials doing the replay stuff
- 5:27have been sketchy at best. I think they're drunk.
- 5:30No, I'm not calling him drunk. Yes, blind. Blind.
- 5:34Need to go to Walgreens and get new cheaters.
- 5:38Or paid? Uh -oh. That'll come up when I talk
- 5:42about Derrick Henry later. 18 rushing attempts.
- 5:47Stinging words. Puka Nakua, 225 yards. Game fantasy
- 5:52football. Not letting the off -field stuff bother
- 5:55him at all. Seattle's a... Ultimately, at the
- 5:59end of the whole game, you learn that Seattle's
- 6:02a really difficult team to beat because they
- 6:04pretty much lost in every important statistical
- 6:07stat against the Rams. And Sam Darnold was looking
- 6:10like playoff Minnesota Sam Darnold for most of
- 6:13the game. And then for like four weeks. Yeah.
- 6:15So it's just like Seattle was able to buckle
- 6:19their chin straps and play defense in the fourth
- 6:21quarter when they needed it. I mean, other than
- 6:24that defense, Seattle should have lost that game.
- 6:27100%. But, hey, they squeaked it out. Now they're
- 6:30the one seed. Squeaked it out 100 % no matter
- 6:32what. Which definitely helps them. Yeah. Since
- 6:35Jake says 12's back now. I didn't say that yet.
- 6:3812's back. They did make an appearance during
- 6:40that game. They did. They didn't seem loud. No,
- 6:43not at first. High five from Kevin. High five
- 6:46from Kevin. Yeah, yeah. So, anyway. With that,
- 6:49let's move on here. Yeah, like you said, Seattle
- 6:51getting the win 38 -37, getting to 12 -3. Rams
- 6:55fall to 10 -4. Still very much alive. 11 -4.
- 6:59I'm sorry. No. Yeah, my bad. 11 -4. I'm tripping.
- 7:04But Rams still very much alive in that attempt
- 7:08at the one seed, maybe, but they got to beat
- 7:10out Seattle at this point, and that's unlikely
- 7:13to happen with that L. Let's move on. Let's see.
- 7:18What do we got? What's the next one? Yeah. Ooh,
- 7:20yes. Packers taking on the Bears in Chicago.
- 7:25Packers feeling like that maybe, I guess, controlling
- 7:29the game, most of the game. If you would call
- 7:31that control, nobody really seemed to get an
- 7:34edge for a good majority of the game. Oh, the
- 7:37weather sucked. Weather sucked. Jordan Love went
- 7:40down early. Classic NFC North kind of football
- 7:44game. Cold, windy. No Josh Jacobs, right? Or
- 7:48did he? He played. Yeah, not very well. After
- 7:51he fumbled in the third quarter, you didn't see
- 7:53him the rest of the game. Yeah, Wilson. Yeah,
- 7:55Manuel Wilson played a lot more touches. Yeah.
- 7:58But Malik Willis stepping in and actually playing
- 8:01pretty well. So, I mean, I wouldn't be. Who do
- 8:03they got again this week? The Packers? I don't
- 8:05think we're talking about them. Rams. Or not
- 8:07Rams. Excuse me. Ravens. Oh, yeah. No, we vaccinated
- 8:10that game. Both teams lost. Yeah. But. If you're
- 8:14a Packer fan, you don't feel that conflicted,
- 8:19I guess, maybe, with Malik Willis maybe playing
- 8:21that well. Obviously, you'd rather have Jordan
- 8:24Love, but if the Bravens don't have Lamar Jackson,
- 8:28you know. Malik Willis did really good for him
- 8:31the weeks two and three, and even in that game
- 8:35against the Eagles in week one last year. So
- 8:39they have a very competent backup quarterback.
- 8:41I think the Packers should feel perfectly fine
- 8:44with Malik Willis running in the playoffs. No,
- 8:49just like to finish it out if they had to. Well,
- 8:53yeah, I hear you. Which they would right now
- 8:56they're sitting at the last spot in the playoffs.
- 8:59Yeah, I mean, he looked really cool. Common collect.
- 9:01So I was pretty impressed with him, especially
- 9:05in a big stage scenario like that. End of the
- 9:09game, obviously, was really weird. Chicago sneaking
- 9:11it out. I think both of these teams. What was
- 9:15weird about it, just like how everything transpired?
- 9:17Well, it was a slow defensive game. I mean, that
- 9:22win really affected. Then you had Love go out,
- 9:24and then the Bears lingered around, and then
- 9:26ended up getting the W in overtime. But neither
- 9:29of those teams. seem like a team that's like
- 9:32oh yeah that's nfc championship quality you know
- 9:35i feel like any of them could get beat round
- 9:37one yeah but what i did what i did like about
- 9:41it though is caleb williams finally stepping
- 9:42up in a clutch time like and he didn't play bad
- 9:45per se all day but until that moment where he
- 9:48threw uh Was it DJ Moore? Yeah. Not right away.
- 9:52That game -winning one in OT? No, I know the
- 9:55game -winning one was DJ Moore, but was it also
- 9:57DJ Moore to put him in position? No, that one
- 9:59wasn't DJ Moore. That was number 20. Walker.
- 10:02Yeah, their backup. Well, he caught it, didn't
- 10:04he? The winner? Yeah. Or the tying touchdown?
- 10:07I'm saying to put him deep, though. I think DJ
- 10:09Moore caught another deep pass to put him there,
- 10:11didn't he? I think you're right. I can't remember.
- 10:12But either way, Caleb Williams stepping up big
- 10:14in clutch time, which is kind of what I've been
- 10:16waiting to see from him. You know, a guy that
- 10:18came out of... of college with so much hype like
- 10:20trevor lawrence who we also saw play pretty well
- 10:23this week and we'll talk about him but it just
- 10:25it's refreshing to see these guys that are coming
- 10:28out with so much hype finally like showing us
- 10:30in a game time moment like that and then you
- 10:33go ahead and get the onside kick And then he
- 10:35turns it. I don't know. I love it. I loved it.
- 10:38I hate the Bears. I hate the Packers. But I think
- 10:40Bears fans finally deserve something to be happy
- 10:43about. And I actually think with that defense,
- 10:45too, the Bears, I don't know. The Bears could
- 10:48make a run. I'm not saying they're going to the
- 10:49Super Bowl. I'm not saying they're better than
- 10:55that Rex Grossman team. But I don't know. This
- 10:58Bears team does feel good enough to compete with
- 11:01somebody like the Rams. I mean, they got that
- 11:04Daniels feel to them, you know, like they're
- 11:06kind of exciting. I just like that Caleb Williams
- 11:08is not turning over the ball. You know, that's
- 11:10the number one thing. I think the difference
- 11:12between this year and last year. Yeah. And Ben
- 11:15Johnson. I think Kim and Ben Johnson are a concerning
- 11:18match for us Vikings fans. I mean, the play call
- 11:20in there, you get some unique different formations,
- 11:23you know, get the ball. You get Caleb outside
- 11:25the pocket a ton. Really effective on that play
- 11:29action play. I mean, they ran for another buck
- 11:3250 this week. He's got a lot of control when
- 11:34he's on the run a lot this year compared to,
- 11:36like, last year. I mean, but the Packers defense
- 11:38also played him pretty tough. You know, they
- 11:40limited him on anything downfield, so that's
- 11:42why the numbers don't, you know, are huge. I
- 11:45mean, I'll give the Bears credit. They, you know,
- 11:47stuck around, got it done. They've been kind
- 11:49of doing it all this year. I think Green Bay
- 11:51really missed Micah Parsons late in that game,
- 11:53too. That motor to keep that. that defensive
- 11:56engine going and trying to keep pressure as they
- 11:59did like while they were able to get some pressure
- 12:01on caleb williams he was able to escape it get
- 12:04out of the pocket and make those big plays whereas
- 12:06if you had like micah he might have been able
- 12:08to track him down and get one or two sacks on
- 12:10those more like important third third down and
- 12:14there was a fourth down that they snuck out to
- 12:16i believe no yeah yeah For sure. Well, Bears
- 12:21getting the win, 22 -16 over the Packers. Still
- 12:25in contention for that number one seed, right
- 12:28behind the Seattle Seahawks. But we'll touch
- 12:30on some of that playoff stuff here in our preview
- 12:32episode. I mean, I kind of hope they get the
- 12:34one seed. The Bears? Yeah, Chicago winner in
- 12:38January. The NFL's going to hate it. Yeah, who's
- 12:42going to want to visit that? Well, they'll get
- 12:45a new stadium fast enough. With a roof. Everybody's
- 12:52going that way. Everybody's going that way. All
- 12:54the stadiums look the same. It's stupid. It's
- 12:57stupid. I hate it. They're all glass bowls now.
- 13:00U .S. Bank at least has a little bit. I'm a homer
- 13:03for it. But U .S. Bank at least has a little
- 13:05bit more. to it with the point, and it's supposed
- 13:09to be a ship in the skyline. Does it look like
- 13:11a ship? Eh, arguable. Spaceship. And it's only
- 13:14got half a clear roof. All these stadiums are
- 13:16doing full clear roofs now, so there's some difference.
- 13:18Oh, my gosh. But they all look the same. I hate
- 13:22it. You want to see some frickin' character.
- 13:25Lambeau Field is going to be the only stadium
- 13:26left with some frickin' character to it. Anyway,
- 13:29sorry. Sidebar. Let's see. What are we doing?
- 13:32Jaguars at Denver. Jaguars getting the win 34
- 13:38-20. Uh -oh. I think. Uh -oh. What do you mean
- 13:42by uh -oh? Uh -oh. We got to see some old Clemson
- 13:44Tiger Trevor Lawrence coming out to play. The
- 13:47way he moved around, the way he was firing that
- 13:49thing in there. Oh, yeah, for sure. Now, it was
- 13:52a slow start. The first two drives were not good.
- 13:54I think the Broncos were playing rope -a -dope
- 13:57on them, on the Jags. Well, it didn't work then.
- 14:00No, they don't want to show anything because
- 14:03they think that they're going to. Sean Payton
- 14:05is probably thinking we're. So you take an L
- 14:08at home? No, not take an L at home. Snap a 12
- 14:12game home winning streak. Snap an 11 game season
- 14:15winning streak. I'm not saying that they were
- 14:19purposely trying to take an L, but maybe you're
- 14:22not. Just a competitive L. Yeah, sure. A competitive
- 14:25L. But no, you're just maybe keeping things close
- 14:29to the vest, not. showing them everything that
- 14:31you've got because you think you're going to
- 14:34see them again in the playoffs. On that, I'm
- 14:36not tripping if I'm Denver. I'm actually happy
- 14:38we took an L now if I'm a Denver fan than in
- 14:42the playoffs. There's no way you can sustain.
- 14:44There's something to be said about taking an
- 14:46L late in the season with a team with as good
- 14:49of a record as they have because it's going to
- 14:51bring them back down to earth and be like, oh,
- 14:53we can lose. All right, now we have to get focused
- 14:56again and get better. I don't think they lost
- 15:00on purpose, though. I'm not saying they lost
- 15:03on purpose. But I'm just saying, because now
- 15:05it opens the whole can of worms for New England
- 15:08to sneak in here and steal the one seed away
- 15:10from them. He's looking at the moral L of it
- 15:13is what he's looking at. He's putting out coach
- 15:15Jacob Payton. But I don't hate all of it, because
- 15:18it makes sense. Take an L now, again, like I
- 15:21was saying, too, before you get to the playoffs.
- 15:23Otherwise, obviously, you're it. That's it. But
- 15:25you almost do want the team to feel like. that
- 15:29they're human, that they can make a mistake,
- 15:32especially on a season that they've played so
- 15:35freaking well. So I imagine they bounce back,
- 15:41no problem, but do they end up getting the one
- 15:44seed? What do they got? They got the Chiefs and
- 15:47the Chargers left. Well, Chargers could be tough.
- 15:52Other than that, it looks like they're going
- 15:55to at least go 1 -1 at the worst because Chiefs
- 15:57aren't going to be trying very hard. The Chiefs
- 16:01are part of that Christmas day. Chargers can't
- 16:04really. I mean, it would be tough for the Chargers
- 16:06to win the division, too. So, I don't know. We'll
- 16:09find out. Chargers have already clinched, too,
- 16:11so you could see them just sitting a bunch of
- 16:13people. You think so? I mean, that's the last
- 16:16game of the season, too. So, there's no way you
- 16:18can get. the one seed or higher than Denver or
- 16:21win the division, then why? Yeah. You know, then
- 16:24for sure you're sitting people. And so is Denver.
- 16:27God, that should be a game we cover that week.
- 16:29Well, unless Denver needs it. Well, yeah, which
- 16:33they could be. Right, right. Or Jacksonville?
- 16:38No, it's probably Patriots or Denver at this
- 16:40point. All right. Yeah, buddy. We'll touch again
- 16:43on all the playoffs in our preview episode, which
- 16:45don't forget to check out the episode in between,
- 16:47which will be our tent talk episode. Oh, Rob.
- 16:53We're working on it. You know what? Let's move
- 16:54on. All right. Vikings traveling to the New York
- 16:58Giants, getting the win 16 to 13. W. We could
- 17:02leave it right there, really. This was a really
- 17:05good nap game. Defense played well. Well, Will
- 17:10Reichert's a great kicker. B -Flow doing the
- 17:13thing that he does best, disguising and scheming
- 17:16against rookie quarterbacks. Yeah, Dart did not
- 17:20look great. Nope, not at all. Did not look great.
- 17:22Very confused of who was coming and who was not.
- 17:27I like their running back, Tyrone Tracy Jr. He
- 17:29is. He might be a guy. I drafted him high in
- 17:32fantasy thinking because he just started playing
- 17:34running back like three years ago. Interesting.
- 17:37So, I mean, he's just an athlete. So, last year
- 17:40was his second year. So, I was expecting a little
- 17:43bit bigger. But, I mean, he's starting. So, there
- 17:46could be some growth yet even in the next season
- 17:48for that. Next year. So, I keep an eye on him
- 17:50for fantasy next year. Yeah, scatter would hurt
- 17:53a couple of bucks. Yeah, right. Sure. But if
- 17:56they can. find a quarterback because i think
- 17:57the giants are you know man the top five and
- 18:00i don't know if jackson dart there's two up there
- 18:02um the guy from indiana and the guy from oregon
- 18:06um this quarterback class doesn't excite me yeah
- 18:12more and it yeah it gets more and more depressing
- 18:15i think i think i'm rolling with dart Yeah, me
- 18:18too. And I'm drafting like O -line or something.
- 18:20I'm hoping I get as high a pick as I can, and
- 18:23then I'm trading out for more draft picks. I'd
- 18:26trade out because you've got two quarterbacks,
- 18:29then like one O -tackle, and then it's all D
- 18:32-edge rushers are kind of top ten. Where do you
- 18:35want that tackle? Interesting. Something to keep
- 18:38an eye on for you Giants fans. That front was
- 18:41indeed scary, as you guys were touching on before
- 18:43that game. You know, I ended up getting the strip
- 18:47sack by Burns, I think it was, and Tyler Newbin,
- 18:50former gopher, you know. Roll the boat. Roll
- 18:52the boat. Getting the tug. So that was kind of
- 18:55fun to see, even though it was against the Vikings.
- 18:58Yeah, Ryan Kelly went down again while wearing
- 19:03the Guardian cap. So was it another concussion
- 19:05head thing? Yeah, I don't know. That's not good,
- 19:08man. I can't imagine him playing football next
- 19:12year. It's been a constant issue of him picking
- 19:16him up from the Colts. He played last year. Brosmer,
- 19:21who's going to start this week, will touch on
- 19:23why in our Tent Talk episode. Was JJ soft benched
- 19:33or is that hand injury legit? He's out. He's
- 19:37out this week. I think it's legit. But it's also
- 19:39a short week, right? But it's allegedly a hairline
- 19:42fracture in his hand. Yeah, and? Hey, man. Justin
- 19:46Herbert. I don't make up the rules. I mean, hey,
- 19:48my ankle freaking whoopsies. My ankle swelled
- 19:55up pretty good when I had a hairline fracture
- 19:57in that thing. Oh, yeah. That was only a hairline.
- 19:59That was from. You know, a fun night, and then
- 20:04I walked off a curb funny. Yeah, I could have
- 20:07a podcast of all my injuries. It would be entertaining,
- 20:09at least five episodes. Nice. Yeah, but we don't
- 20:12need to do that. Anyway, what I was saying was
- 20:15Brosmer looked okay when he came in. You know,
- 20:17let him down, got a feel, go out of the drive,
- 20:19whatever, nothing crazy. But he's going to have
- 20:22to play against the Detroit Lion team, who is
- 20:24probably pissed off right now. Or they don't
- 20:26care at all. I don't know. Detroit needs to win.
- 20:29They have to. Yeah, they have to win. And the
- 20:31Vikings are going to be wearing the all -whites,
- 20:33crispy whites, you know, Christmas Day. I'll
- 20:36be there. I'll be there. I'm thinking about it.
- 20:38I'm thinking about buying tickets day of. Do
- 20:40it. Those jerseys are awesome. I just wish that
- 20:43there was more importance to that game for the
- 20:46Vikings. Trust us. We do, too, homie. I agree
- 20:49100%. It's going to be a nice afternoon in downtown
- 20:51Minneapolis. That's it. That's it. Watching some
- 20:54football. Yeah. Hanging out with some friends.
- 20:56Yep. You going with some buddies? The wifey.
- 21:02She's a friend, I guess. My best friend. There
- 21:04you go. Best friend. There it is. All right.
- 21:07Let's move on. Let's move on. Let's move on to
- 21:09the reason why Jake's here, actually. Do we have
- 21:12like a gong or something? Like an undershaker?
- 21:15We can get a gong. Oh, my God. I meant to say
- 21:19gong. All right. Let's do this final game. Fire
- 21:23up that fog machine. Let's fire up the old fog
- 21:27machine. All right. Last game. Patriots getting
- 21:30the win. over the Ravens 28 -14. I'll just let
- 21:35you lead in here. Gosh, I don't know where to
- 21:39start. Let's start with Lamar. Is he in the Ravens
- 21:44uniform next season? Why are you even asking
- 21:47that? Are you giving up on him? No, he's not.
- 21:52Is he the new Dak? No, I don't think he's in
- 21:55the regular season playoffs. He's not even making
- 21:59it to the playoffs this year. Because they have
- 22:03to hope and pray that the Steelers lose against
- 22:06the Browns. And then they have to beat the Steelers
- 22:08in week 18. So chances are slim to none that
- 22:12you're going to see Ravens in the postseason
- 22:14this year. Yeah. Dog pound. But a valid effort
- 22:21coming back from 1 -7. Yeah, being 1 -5. I think
- 22:30it was a really good microcosm of their entire
- 22:33season. Lamar getting hurt again. Lamar's missed
- 22:39so much time this year. What else do we have
- 22:42going on? Defense being questionable, giving
- 22:45up leads again. This was the 12th lead in the
- 22:48last five years where they were up seven or more
- 22:51points going into the fourth quarter that they've
- 22:54blown. Over five years, that's the most out of
- 22:58any team. It's kind of embarrassing. Kept them
- 23:01to 79, Russian. Yeah, they did really well, but
- 23:06Drake May just picked them apart. They were playing
- 23:09a whole bunch of zone. Hunter Henry, Stephan
- 23:12Diggs, just they felt like they were wide open.
- 23:18Yeah. Miracle. Hey, he'll always have it. They
- 23:22just felt like, to me, like they were just wide
- 23:24open the entire game. It didn't matter who you
- 23:26were trying to cover. Diggs is a good route runner.
- 23:28And then untimely turnovers, Derek Henry with
- 23:32a fumble, Zay Flowers in the fourth quarter,
- 23:34and they're trying to come back. That's tough.
- 23:37That Zay Flowers fumble just ended the game.
- 23:40Play beyond chase on. That hurt me. Two points.
- 23:42And then we're going to continue to question
- 23:44the play calling. I've been doing that pretty
- 23:47much. um yeah personnel play calling get probably
- 23:51personnel more so than anything but yeah you
- 23:54had derrick henry score a touchdown they um and
- 23:59then the next two or at least their next possession
- 24:02They have Keaton Mitchell in, and I understand
- 24:05that they're doing a running back rotation. That's
- 24:07bullshit. But Keaton Mitchell had done nothing
- 24:10or very little the entire game. Buffalo, the
- 24:14Patriots were prepared to stop Keaton Mitchell.
- 24:18I mean, nine for 13, that's solid. They were
- 24:21all over him. But they couldn't stop. They really
- 24:25weren't able to stop Derrick Henry because Derrick
- 24:27Henry had a 127. 128. Yeah. And two tutties.
- 24:33Here's my conspiracy, right? Derrick Henry at
- 24:3518 carries for 128, two touchdowns. Who the F
- 24:38sits him? Well, you do if there's a lot of bets
- 24:42if he's going to get over 20 carries that game.
- 24:45Oh. I don't know. That's my little conspiracy
- 24:49with the Derrick Henry thing that bugs the heck
- 24:51out of me. I didn't see that. Okay. Because you
- 24:54would think you're riding Derrick Henry, as they
- 24:56did, 20 pass attempts all game. But I don't know.
- 25:00I thought that was an interesting bet. And I
- 25:03think we also. The other thing is really, what
- 25:09do I got for notes? Just, yeah, just a whole
- 25:12slew. They've got a bunch of rebuilding to do.
- 25:14Can you read them with all the tear marks? No,
- 25:16I can't. It's all running together. It's all
- 25:19smeared. But really. Shout out to Vrabel for
- 25:24turning that Patriots team around. For sure.
- 25:27Yes, sir. Tennessee Titans, I'm sure, are regretting
- 25:30letting go. I still never understood that firing.
- 25:32Yeah, let it go. Blame the wrong guy. Seven to
- 25:35nine or something? No, that ain't right. I don't
- 25:38know. But it was just under 500, I think, is
- 25:41the year he got fired in Tennessee. Yeah. And
- 25:43so Vrabel has won more games with the Patriots
- 25:45this year than the Titans have won over the last
- 25:47two years. Brilliant. Yeah. Brilliant. So. With
- 25:53a second -year quarterback. Yeah. So you're going
- 25:56to hold out hope for the Ravens, but there's
- 25:59a reason why you're wearing black. Yeah, there's
- 26:01a chance, but with them losing. Is there a chip
- 26:06in the chair? There's a chip. There's no chair.
- 26:12Oh, no. Like I said, we got to hope that the
- 26:16Steelers lose first. They have no control over
- 26:20their destiny. Hope and wish. All right. Who's
- 26:22the number one position the Ravens need next
- 26:24year in the draft? Quarterback. Jeez. Well, Lamar's
- 26:29getting traded, so. Wow. Satan Lamar's still
- 26:34there. They need to continue to work on their
- 26:38offensive line. Offensive line. All right. There
- 26:40it is from the horse's mouth. One of their biggest
- 26:42weaknesses. And who knows? Probably defensive
- 26:45line, too. Any defensive. Because we don't know
- 26:48if Matabike is going to be back at all. Yeah.
- 26:51So. What was his injury again? I know it was
- 26:54for the season. Some kind of like neck injury.
- 26:56So you got to take that serious. Yeah, that's
- 26:58not good. Yeah. You need those. Yeah, you need.
- 27:01You only get one of those. Yeah. Well. I digress.
- 27:06Thanks for your input on the Ravens. Yeah. That's
- 27:10why we brought you in here, Coach Jacob. Anyway,
- 27:13that's fine. Jake? Offense coordinator, too.
- 27:16That's the other thing you said they need. The
- 27:18Ravens need offense coordinator? No, I didn't
- 27:20say that. Oh, you said the play calling. I didn't
- 27:22like the play calling or the personnel. Okay.
- 27:25Oh, we used to wish more personnel. All right.
- 27:27I digress. All right. Well, I had to look up
- 27:32microcosm to make sure I was understanding that
- 27:34when he used that word. Big words. Yeah, I was
- 27:38like, whoa, community place or situation. Okay,
- 27:41regarded as encapsulating in miniature the characteristic
- 27:45qualities or features of something much larger.
- 27:47Thanks, Gronk. Yeah, there it is. Thanks, Gronk.
- 27:51Did you watch the roast of Tom Brady? No. So
- 27:54the only part I actually really liked was in
- 27:56the female. comedian got up there and got after
- 28:00Gronk a little bit. She was just... Did you watch
- 28:04it? No, but you're talking... She was making
- 28:08fun of Gronk and being stupid or something. I
- 28:11can't remember how it went. Something about Gronk
- 28:14wanting a cookie or something. How she did it
- 28:16was wild. I want a cookie. Maybe we can get a
- 28:19cookie and tent. Not a single one this episode.
- 28:26Anyway, Jake, thanks for being here. Thanks for
- 28:27having me. Roberto. Also, thanks for being here.
