- 1:02Speaker 1: We like to hear.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Hey, catch me up, Coan. What's been going on since
- 1:06Speaker 2: I saw you last? It's been a while.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. I'm now an independent artist. My album
- 1:12Speaker 1: Dirty Blonde, it's gonna be my first release as an
- 1:14Speaker 1: independent artist. New Religion is out. It's feeling really amazing
- 1:18Speaker 1: about to leave La to go tour Europe and now
- 1:23Speaker 1: I'm talking to you.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Well, that's that's so much to unpack. Their independent artists. Congratulations.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Did you have any doubt that you were gonna do
- 1:30Speaker 2: it on your own? I guess because when you have
- 1:32Speaker 2: been an artist, maybe you've been on a major record label,
- 1:35Speaker 2: sometimes it can be a bit daunting, right of course.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Because you're kind of you kind of grow up on
- 1:39Speaker 1: seeing the major system and you know, you don't know
- 1:43Speaker 1: where you're gonna go from there, and when you're independent,
- 1:45Speaker 1: you know what. But I'm like happy I'm independent because
- 1:48Speaker 1: the team I'm with right now, everybody like really believes
- 1:50Speaker 1: in me and is like really uplifting. And that's that's
- 1:53Speaker 1: the most important thing. I think. It's about being with
- 1:55Speaker 1: people that like see and understand and believe in your vision.
- 1:58Speaker 3: And more money too, right for yourself, you keep more of.
- 2:01Speaker 1: It if it does well.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Okay, And it's doing very well, and the song New
- 2:08Speaker 2: Religion is doing very well and the album is coming
- 2:11Speaker 2: out on June twelve. Dirty Blonde, Is that your natural
- 2:14Speaker 2: hair color? Or are you not a natural?
- 2:16Speaker 3: No?
- 2:17Speaker 1: You see the roots coming in there. Yeah, I'm actually
- 2:20Speaker 1: a brunette. Yeah real, but I died my you know,
- 2:23Speaker 1: I dyed my hair one day. I was like, I'm
- 2:25Speaker 1: going to dye my bleach bleached blonde, make my hair
- 2:28Speaker 1: bleach blonde, excuse me? And everybody's like no, no, no,
- 2:31Speaker 1: and I was like, no, I'm definitely doing that. And
- 2:33Speaker 1: I just did that, and I just like, I want
- 2:36Speaker 1: to dye of blonde.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, is that how you want to go out
- 2:39Speaker 2: being blonde?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Hope they can, like, you know, make sure I'm completely
- 2:43Speaker 1: platinum blonde.
- 2:44Speaker 2: When you're laying in the casket on you on your
- 2:46Speaker 2: final rest, you want me roots, have the roots touched out,
- 2:51Speaker 2: the completely platinum, make me look like this exactly. Well,
- 2:58Speaker 2: I knew the album was called Dirty Blonde, so I
- 3:00Speaker 2: thought I would find out what I would look like
- 3:03Speaker 2: because you know, I don't know if you know this,
- 3:04Speaker 2: but some guys when they bleach their hair, they'll do
- 3:07Speaker 2: like a buzz cut and that's yeah, and I, well,
- 3:11Speaker 2: I couldn't go completely dirty blonde with my hair.
- 3:14Speaker 3: I thought it'd be it look strange.
- 3:15Speaker 2: So I got chat GPT to find out what I
- 3:18Speaker 2: would look like with a buzz cut blonde.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Are you ready to be Are you ready to be horrified?
- 3:24Speaker 3: Because it's yeah. The buzz cut and the blonde.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I actually love it. I actually really like it.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Okay, I can pull that off, but.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I actually really like it. I think it looks pretty good.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Okay, Now I have great hair.
- 3:40Speaker 1: You have great hair. So I don't know.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Now, I know you're a liar.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Now I know you're actually looks really good.
- 3:47Speaker 3: It's very kind. You said you're in LA.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Right, Yes, I have to ask slightly political question because
- 3:54Speaker 2: I do pay attention to the LA mayoral race that's
- 3:57Speaker 2: going on.
- 3:59Speaker 3: The LA mayor race is going on at the moment.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And I know what the question is going to be.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Go ahead, Okay, So for people who don't know, alumni
- 4:08Speaker 2: Star of the Hills, Spencer Pratt is running for mayor
- 4:12Speaker 2: of LA. He's going up against Karen Bass, the current
- 4:16Speaker 2: mayor of LA. Spencer and a lot of people in
- 4:19Speaker 2: LA tend to think that they that Karen let their
- 4:23Speaker 2: houses burn down in the Palisades, so there's a lot
- 4:25Speaker 2: of anger towards her. A lot of people are supporting
- 4:28Speaker 2: Spencer as an LA resident. Are you voting in this
- 4:34Speaker 2: coming mayor? Upcoming mayoral race.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I don't like to get political. I don't like to
- 4:39Speaker 1: go into politics, but I will say that I have
- 4:42Speaker 1: been watching a lot of the debates and they are
- 4:46Speaker 1: very entertaining, like very entertaining, a little too entertaining. But
- 4:51Speaker 1: you know, there's some things. Look, I never thought there
- 4:53Speaker 1: are certain things. I'm like, I never thought in my
- 4:56Speaker 1: you know, my Bengal card, that I would be agreeing
- 4:59Speaker 1: to some of the things that he's saying.
- 5:01Speaker 2: No, I can, I can I say the same thing
- 5:04Speaker 2: because obviously, uh, And I'm going to choose my words
- 5:07Speaker 2: carefully because I don't like to delve into politics either.
- 5:09Speaker 2: But Karen Bass doesn't really care for voter id laws.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I've actually thought about flying to LA just to vote
- 5:16Speaker 2: in the mayor or race because I think Spencer has
- 5:18Speaker 2: some great policies that could change LA for the better,
- 5:23Speaker 2: because I love coming to La.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Are you sire? Are you joking? Are you being serious?
- 5:28Speaker 2: I'm a little bit joking, but also I'm just trying
- 5:30Speaker 2: to highlight the craziness.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I feel like you're fifth. I feel like every joke
- 5:34Speaker 1: is half true, half true.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah, anyway, I.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Don't want to get into a homelessness is I think
- 5:40Speaker 1: is a big thing here, and it does lead to
- 5:44Speaker 1: you know, there's a lot of it's a really tough
- 5:45Speaker 1: issue and it gets really intense, and really there's a
- 5:48Speaker 1: lot to it. So that's like I wish we could
- 5:52Speaker 1: fix out here, but that's not Let's not get into
- 5:54Speaker 1: that right now.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Let's not.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Let's just let's promote primo your songs. Let's keep it
- 5:58Speaker 2: all just top topic, just keep it all lot, Let's
- 6:01Speaker 2: just keep it all light.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Let's give it all light. I want to ask you
- 6:05Speaker 3: a serious question.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Though people who have followed your music, followed your career,
- 6:10Speaker 2: you've been very open about like sometimes the trolling has
- 6:13Speaker 2: been very intense. I get trolled as well, no doubt
- 6:16Speaker 2: after that question will get trolled. How do you handle it?
- 6:21Speaker 2: You make a joke, but you know, does it sometimes
- 6:23Speaker 2: sting or have you sort of built a tough exteria
- 6:27Speaker 2: that you tried to not let it get to you.
- 6:29Speaker 1: The way I would explain it is, you know, if
- 6:32Speaker 1: people play guitar and they get these calluses on their hands, okay,
- 6:35Speaker 1: you know you kind of pul like a heavy scar
- 6:36Speaker 1: tissue on your hand on your fingers. That's kind of
- 6:39Speaker 1: like a muscle that you have to build as well,
- 6:41Speaker 1: because after a certain time, people could tell you anything
- 6:44Speaker 1: about you and there's very few things that actually bother me.
- 6:48Speaker 1: It's like when they bring in my family or stuff
- 6:50Speaker 1: like that, then they get like upset. But they could
- 6:52Speaker 1: talk about anything about me and they could say whatever
- 6:54Speaker 1: they want, and I'm like, okay, like really I've read everything,
- 6:59Speaker 1: seen everything. And that's why sometimes if I'm in the
- 7:03Speaker 1: mood and I wake up one day and I'm feeling
- 7:05Speaker 1: a little you know, spicy or whatever, fight, yeah, I
- 7:09Speaker 1: will literally just I'm like, should I go on Twitter
- 7:12Speaker 1: on X sorry on X? Should I go with crazy?
- 7:16Speaker 1: Or should I just lay low? But I know the
- 7:18Speaker 1: right pop star thing to do is not say anything.
- 7:22Speaker 1: But sometimes I just like, I like it's fun. I mean,
- 7:24Speaker 1: you know, it's like they could have fun. I could
- 7:26Speaker 1: have fun. Let's like, let's go at each other for
- 7:28Speaker 1: a bit.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 2: No, I think there's a obviously you would know about
- 7:32Speaker 2: this video for people who don't know, you did that
- 7:33Speaker 2: video where you were running on the treademill and then
- 7:36Speaker 2: you're I'm gonna play I'll have to play a clipie
- 7:39Speaker 2: because it's very it's very funny.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I'm here at the Key Asylum. He said, I can't
- 7:46Speaker 1: stop until those thirty pounds it's too fat or I
- 7:49Speaker 1: have a hit song.
- 7:54Speaker 2: So that's you running on a treade meal with the wise,
- 7:55Speaker 2: trying to sign that. The record company won't.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Let you add six and shiels, Yeah, sixteen.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Chiels because she's always committed to the craft. They won't
- 8:05Speaker 2: let you out of the Kia Asylum. The Keya Asylum, obviously,
- 8:08Speaker 2: is a penitentiary where where they put women female pop
- 8:12Speaker 2: stars who the Internet has said is not how to
- 8:14Speaker 2: hit in a while, you're out.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Just so you know you're out. You're out.
- 8:18Speaker 2: You're so far out, you've broken free. Happy days for
- 8:21Speaker 2: you for now, for now?
- 8:22Speaker 1: Who knows, right? Yeah, but it's funny. I you know,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I saw that online. I was like, let me play
- 8:26Speaker 1: it on the joke because I feel like in life,
- 8:28Speaker 1: if you just take yourself too seriously, it's like boring.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I like playing joke. There's nothing that somebody could tell
- 8:33Speaker 1: me that I don't know about myself or what. Obviously,
- 8:37Speaker 1: it's been like six years all the stuff has been
- 8:39Speaker 1: going on in the world. Yeah, now your girl's backing
- 8:42Speaker 1: at it, you know, ready to go.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Well, we love it, We love having you back. I
- 8:46Speaker 3: love that. Are you going to come to Australia. We
- 8:48Speaker 3: would love to have you here.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I was actually just talking to somebody and I'm like,
- 8:52Speaker 1: we were just talking about the coffee and how I
- 8:53Speaker 1: feel like Australia has some of the has the best
- 8:56Speaker 1: coffee in the world. I'm like a coffee yack. I
- 9:00Speaker 1: do want to come back, I really really do. It's
- 9:02Speaker 1: just like I gotta make my way there.
- 9:05Speaker 3: I gotta we'll pitching.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Is the flight is. You know, we got to figure
- 9:11Speaker 1: all that, all that out, but one hundred percent I'm
- 9:13Speaker 1: gonna come. It's like I'm never coming. I'm going to
- 9:15Speaker 1: be there for.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Sure because you've done a lot of collapse with all
- 9:17Speaker 2: the aussiotists in your time, and so it would only
- 9:20Speaker 2: be fair.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yes, oh yes, oh yes I have.
- 9:24Speaker 3: We love you baby, thanks for being on the show.
