- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gotts and Hawkman.
- 0:02Speaker 2: I mean, who's in the mood for a little with
- 0:10Speaker 2: Stu Gotts and Hawkmen. Yeah, I mean the time of
- 0:14Speaker 2: our lives.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Time of our lives. Everyone's in the mood except for
- 0:18Speaker 3: our producer. Taylor hates this podcast with a passion. Yes,
- 0:22Speaker 3: I've heard from a number of people. He looks bored, disinterested.
- 0:26Speaker 3: In fact, some of the sounds he's going to hear today,
- 0:28Speaker 3: like when you got them? Like, do you know who
- 0:30Speaker 3: Ted Knight is?
- 0:32Speaker 4: I don't know who Ted Night is?
- 0:35Speaker 5: Blasphe I mean it blasphemy. It's so crazy because he
- 0:37Speaker 5: was such a big part of our show. Yes, have
- 0:40Speaker 5: you seen Caddyshack? Taylor?
- 0:43Speaker 4: So I just googled it. It's it's the guy who
- 0:45Speaker 4: makes that face in Caddyshack. I haven't seen Caddyshack either.
- 0:47Speaker 5: It Judge smells, Yes, Caddyshack.
- 0:52Speaker 4: I get the concept. There's a go for a guy golfing.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I gotta tell you, I'm not certain Caddyshack holds up.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I gotta be honest with it.
- 0:59Speaker 1: How dare you?
- 1:00Speaker 5: I will? I think Taylor watched it. He won't find
- 1:02Speaker 5: it funny.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I mean, I've made Crowder and Solana watch Caddyshack and
- 1:08Speaker 2: they both do not think that it holds up.
- 1:10Speaker 5: They don't.
- 1:11Speaker 2: They don't find it as funny as I do now.
- 1:14Speaker 2: But I have good allies with this one because people
- 1:17Speaker 2: our age my age, like Gino Tiretta, who we have
- 1:20Speaker 2: on the radio show all the time, like he just
- 1:22Speaker 2: pounds it into Crowder and Solana that it's a great movie.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Solana doesn't budge. Crowder's in his forties, so he kind
- 1:29Speaker 2: of digs Caddyshack a little bit. Crowder is in agreement, though,
- 1:33Speaker 2: that Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a good money,
- 1:36Speaker 2: good movie. Funny really, yes, that one. Now Solana doesn't
- 1:41Speaker 2: really get it. I think Fast Times at Ridgemont High
- 1:44Speaker 2: is still a classic banger.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Have you ever seen that, Taylor?
- 1:49Speaker 2: No, h, mister Hans, I mean one of the best
- 1:54Speaker 2: movies that you'll ever see, best use of music in
- 1:58Speaker 2: a movie show on Penn Judge Reinhold.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Yes, I mean in the way you've never ever seen them.
- 2:06Speaker 3: I don't think since he was like a stoner circle.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Jeff Spacoli just a legendary character. Hauck.
- 2:13Speaker 4: I actually have a friend and I feel like you
- 2:15Speaker 4: would like this move. He just had a birthday party recently,
- 2:18Speaker 4: and at his birthday party, he hired a Rodney Dangerfield
- 2:21Speaker 4: impersonator and Elton John impersonator just to see them interact
- 2:26Speaker 4: with each other.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Hawk out of both of them at his last birthday.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I mean, there's a guy who goes viral on like
- 2:33Speaker 2: TikTok and uh and Instagram. He hires these lookalike impersonators.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Have you seen it, Taylor, just to perform for him. Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 5: They show up.
- 2:43Speaker 2: They think they're going to some party or some office event, right,
- 2:47Speaker 2: And so it's somebody who looks like Elton John and
- 2:50Speaker 2: he mingles with the crowd and people take pictures with
- 2:53Speaker 2: him and and whatever.
- 2:54Speaker 5: But it's just the guy at his house and.
- 2:56Speaker 2: He's like, oh, yeah, I was planning on having some
- 2:58Speaker 2: people over, but I didn't want to cancel on you
- 3:00Speaker 2: so late.
- 3:01Speaker 5: So and the guy just sits there on his couch
- 3:03Speaker 5: and he's.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Like, yeah, I don't think that guy was ever planning
- 3:05Speaker 3: on having people over.
- 3:06Speaker 5: It's just that's the bit. It's so funny.
- 3:10Speaker 2: And I feel so bad because it's so awkward for
- 3:13Speaker 2: these impersonators because they want their money. They're probably getting
- 3:17Speaker 2: like one hundred and fifty bucks. Maybe they get two
- 3:19Speaker 2: gigs a month, you know, so they're not going to
- 3:21Speaker 2: turn it down. But they're just sitting there, the guys
- 3:24Speaker 2: just sitting there on his couch. Everything falls flat because
- 3:27Speaker 2: there's no audience.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Like it's really grinned right right, what if he doesn't laugh? Right? Yeah?
- 3:32Speaker 4: The best part in those videos it's the guy probably
- 3:36Speaker 4: pays him to perform for an hour and the impersonator
- 3:40Speaker 4: goes through his material within five minutes without a crowd
- 3:43Speaker 4: in it, and then they're just looking at each other like,
- 3:45Speaker 4: so what do we do for the next fifty five minutes?
- 3:48Speaker 5: His only option is the one guy material.
- 3:52Speaker 3: It's a fill time funny man anyway you yeah, go ahead,
- 3:56Speaker 3: agree with this. Sorry to cut you off there, just
- 3:57Speaker 3: going back to fast times at Ridgemont High. I think
- 4:00Speaker 3: that Jeff's Piccoli Sean Penn was responsible for Van's success.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Is that fair? The shoe brands possible.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Because he bangs the vans on his head when they're
- 4:10Speaker 2: getting out. They're coming out of the van, right, all
- 4:12Speaker 2: the smoke's coming out of the van. I mean, that's
- 4:15Speaker 2: when it started to really become popular. Yeah, here's two
- 4:19Speaker 2: Sean Penn roles. Because I you know, I've had this
- 4:22Speaker 2: debate before. Is Sean Penn a great American actor?
- 4:27Speaker 5: And I believe he is. I believe he's a great actor.
- 4:29Speaker 2: If you look at the gamut of roles that he's
- 4:31Speaker 2: played with Jeff's Piccoli's one of them. He plays in
- 4:34Speaker 2: Carlito's Way, This attorney David we Mainfeld, Yeah, Kleinfeld, Clinfeld,
- 4:41Speaker 2: it is one of the greatest movie characters.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Of all time.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Of all time, You've never seen Carlito's Way. I'm guessing Taylor.
- 4:51Speaker 4: If it happened before, like nineteen ninety six, just assume
- 4:54Speaker 4: I haven't.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Well, I don't think that one was before night.
- 4:57Speaker 2: This is Paccino and Sean Penn. It is such a
- 5:02Speaker 2: great mobster movie. But David Kleinfeld and then I don't
- 5:06Speaker 2: know if you've ever seen Sean Penn in Dead Man Walking.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Oh, he was fantastic, fantastic.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I mean, that's one of the best movies. Tough Watch,
- 5:13Speaker 2: but that's one of the best movies you will ever see.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So would you say that Sean Penn is one of
- 5:18Speaker 2: the great American actors?
- 5:21Speaker 3: I would say, without question, he is one of the
- 5:23Speaker 3: great American actors.
- 5:24Speaker 5: And by the way.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Sean Penn is regarded as being largely responsible for single
- 5:30Speaker 3: handedly driving the iconic black and white checkerboard slip on
- 5:35Speaker 3: shoes called Vans. He is the reason they had success.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Everyone wanted to be.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Spacoli after that movie.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Right, Remember he ordered the pizza to the classroom, walked
- 5:44Speaker 2: into the classroom with the bagel in his jeans.
- 5:48Speaker 5: Such a classic movie. Taylor, do me a favor.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Will you watch Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
- 5:54Speaker 4: We'll put it on the list for the next Yankees
- 5:55Speaker 4: off day.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Have you seen any Yankees World series prior to nineteen
- 5:59Speaker 3: ninety some certain you have.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Yeah, there was just a large gap in between nineteen
- 6:05Speaker 4: ninety six and the last one.
- 6:06Speaker 5: So I mean, I go back.
- 6:08Speaker 2: I made a Ron Guidry reference to him on a
- 6:11Speaker 2: previous podcast. The guy lit up like, uh, like you
- 6:14Speaker 2: had heard God's name himself Louisiana Lightning.
- 6:21Speaker 5: So that counts as one. That's all right, I'll mark
- 6:23Speaker 5: that for later, Gidrey check.
- 6:28Speaker 3: So, I mean, how is that even a debate with
- 6:32Speaker 3: Sean Patty? He's one of the great actors we've ever produced.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Very because you know, it's like, who's a great actor?
- 6:38Speaker 2: Denzel Washington is a great actor. I maintained Training Day
- 6:41Speaker 2: is one of the best movies that's ever been put
- 6:43Speaker 2: on film? Have you seen Training Day?
- 6:45Speaker 1: Taylor?
- 6:46Speaker 5: Now I'm gonna blow my fucking head off here.
- 6:51Speaker 3: You like, I hate the future of this country. Let's
- 6:57Speaker 3: just end the podcast with you know, Levtar highlights, No nothing,
- 7:03Speaker 3: just angry me storming off the pod. Yes, we're getting old, hawk, God,
- 7:09Speaker 3: you've never seen Training Day. I mean Training Day's recent, right,
- 7:13Speaker 3: I mean fairly recent. I mean Colin Farrell's probably. Yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 3: it's like twenty it's got to be twenty years old.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Right, two thousand and one.
- 7:21Speaker 5: All right, it's twenty five years old. Twenty five years old, jeez? Recently?
- 7:25Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I mean, but that's you know, it's like
- 7:27Speaker 6: somebody if this was nineteen eighty five Stu Gotts, like
- 7:33Speaker 6: when I'm in high school, it would be like somebody
- 7:35Speaker 6: saying to me, how have you not seen this movie?
- 7:38Speaker 5: And I look back to see when it was made,
- 7:39Speaker 5: and it was made in nineteen sixty.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Five, Right, of course I might see it. Yeah, of
- 7:43Speaker 2: course I wouldn't see it. But a Training Day, Please
- 7:45Speaker 2: see Training Day for the love of God Day it.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Holds up to right, top of the list.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Twenty five years later, Hawk, I will tell you this
- 7:53Speaker 3: that Taylor, I forget who uh Taylor, who'd you pitch
- 7:55Speaker 3: this idea too?
- 7:56Speaker 5: He wants Miracle as a Broadway play.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Miracle on ice.
- 8:00Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, and someone liked it. Who was it?
- 8:03Speaker 4: There was the producer or the director of the Last Dance.
- 8:07Speaker 4: He has a new Novak joke.
- 8:11Speaker 5: It's a terrible idea.
- 8:13Speaker 4: No idea you need in a good Broadway play. You
- 8:17Speaker 4: need some conflict. No bigger conflict at the time than
- 8:20Speaker 4: the USA versus the Russia. There's a hockey phenomenon right
- 8:24Speaker 4: now with the Golden Medal game.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I ever set the music before. I mean, I mean
- 8:30Speaker 3: Mike was sitting You Believe in Miracles?
- 8:35Speaker 2: What a great final song, right like you could hear
- 8:38Speaker 2: the whole chorus the head or you Believe in Miracles.
- 8:41Speaker 5: I'm currently writing the words to the song.
- 8:44Speaker 3: So this is one of those deals where I'm thinking
- 8:46Speaker 3: the director is just trying to be nice to Taylor
- 8:48Speaker 3: because we're doing an interview. And then but this is
- 8:50Speaker 3: what happens years later, years from that. Maybe he did
- 8:54Speaker 3: like the idea, Maybe he was a good salesman. Years later,
- 8:57Speaker 3: we're going to see that on Broadway. Taylor is going
- 8:59Speaker 3: to be you upset that he didn't follow through. I
- 9:02Speaker 3: kind of dig the idea.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I think you should, uh, I think you should write
- 9:05Speaker 2: a treatment for it, and that way it becomes yours.
- 9:09Speaker 2: So here's the situation on this podcast. I have some
- 9:12Speaker 2: good stuff to get to today. I'm with Stugotts and Hawkman.
- 9:16Speaker 2: But I want to say first that you should go
- 9:19Speaker 2: buy a with Stugotson Hawkman T shirt or a same
- 9:22Speaker 2: Sneid shirt or an I'm a Violent Sneezer shirt. There
- 9:26Speaker 2: is now an Ambourggasa Conqeso T shirt.
- 9:30Speaker 5: I'm gonna bother Hackman that my son. This is my
- 9:34Speaker 5: son's store, but I would appreciate it.
- 9:38Speaker 2: He gets all the proceeds from the merch sales from
- 9:40Speaker 2: my radio store. In the podcast store, it's Horsemuffins dot com.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And if you enjoy this pod, and this pod might
- 9:48Speaker 2: be coming to an end soon for one of two reasons.
- 9:51Speaker 2: If there's not enough support at the merch store, or
- 9:54Speaker 2: if Taylor continues to not watch great movies from my past,
- 9:59Speaker 2: I'll walk of off the show. So there's two things
- 10:01Speaker 2: that can happen. But I've said this a number of times.
- 10:04Speaker 2: My son is uh grad had graduated, and he's got
- 10:07Speaker 2: this merch store going, and we're selling a lot of
- 10:09Speaker 2: stuff off the radio show, some stuff off the podcast.
- 10:13Speaker 5: But just think of buying a.
- 10:14Speaker 2: T shirt as your subscription to the with Stugatsen Hawkman podcast.
- 10:20Speaker 5: My shirt for twenty one bucks and.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Figure like that's your subscription fee for the year for
- 10:24Speaker 2: all the great content you get like this, like me
- 10:27Speaker 2: walking off the podcast because Taylor hasn't seen Training Day,
- 10:31Speaker 2: which is so beyond shocking. It's really one of the
- 10:34Speaker 2: ten best movies I think ever made. It's Ethan Hawk
- 10:38Speaker 2: and uh and Denzel and Denzel. Yes, I put Colin
- 10:43Speaker 2: Farrell in the movie for some reason.
- 10:45Speaker 5: I don't know why. It's Ethan Hawk, right, Yeah, that
- 10:47Speaker 5: was good. Yeah, well it's Ethan Hawk. It is the
- 10:49Speaker 5: one being trained by Denzel.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Watch.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Yes, it is so good.
- 10:53Speaker 2: But I'm asking listeners of this podcast support the merch
- 10:57Speaker 2: store by going to Horsemuffins dot com and buying a
- 11:01Speaker 2: little something and it would be appreciated. And I always
- 11:06Speaker 2: say if you want to hear something on the pot
- 11:08Speaker 2: or just want to share something, DM me on Instagram.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Radio Mark Hakman on Instagram. I'm going to go through
- 11:15Speaker 2: some of the dms that we've received recently and play
- 11:18Speaker 2: some of the requests that have come in on direct Message.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Here's the first one from.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Wicked Wes I mean and I love that he starts
- 11:28Speaker 2: out the direct message with I mean that touches me
- 11:32Speaker 2: right deep in my soul. Yes, I mean Vanilla offense
- 11:37Speaker 2: with no nuts, which is a great reference. I first
- 11:40Speaker 2: started listening to DLS in twenty eighteen, so I missed
- 11:44Speaker 2: the golden years when you were part of the show.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I was first introduced to you during Mike Ryan's oral
- 11:49Speaker 2: history of the show. I'm glad I stumbled upon with
- 11:52Speaker 2: Stugatts and Hawkman. My favorite episode so far has been
- 11:55Speaker 2: the episode where you guys play the old show opens.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I had tears. He's in my eyes sitting in traffic.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I was laughing so hard. I know a lot of
- 12:04Speaker 2: listeners love listening to the pod because it brings back
- 12:06Speaker 2: memories in nostalgia, but for me, I love it because
- 12:10Speaker 2: it's brand new material that I've never heard. As a
- 12:14Speaker 2: newer listener to DLS. Please keep up the good work.
- 12:17Speaker 2: PS tell Taylor, I said, go heels. I'm local in Hillsboro,
- 12:22Speaker 2: North Carolina.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Excellent.
- 12:24Speaker 2: So there you go a little shout out to him.
- 12:26Speaker 2: So I thought, since he's never heard all the big opens,
- 12:29Speaker 2: and we played a bunch of them in a previous episode,
- 12:31Speaker 2: that we would play a big open for him. Here's
- 12:33Speaker 2: a big open we didn't play in the previous episode.
- 12:36Speaker 2: This is a you'll hear some drops from very famous people,
- 12:40Speaker 2: but you'll also hear a lot of Frank Caliendo's characters
- 12:44Speaker 2: saying gibber jabber and what's the other phrase that they're
- 12:49Speaker 2: using throughout this constantly it's jibber jabber and in kahoots.
- 12:53Speaker 2: But through a phase where we were having all his
- 12:55Speaker 2: characters say in kahoots, here's the big open for that.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Tension. This is there, Dan Levatta show gabb it kip
- 13:05Speaker 1: jab Come on Dan the literation Dan Levatts are attention.
- 13:12Speaker 5: I want to hear all the characters say jibber jabber?
- 13:15Speaker 7: All right, Stuve Gotts, Ted Night, Real Base, can Jim
- 13:25Speaker 7: Rome say jibber jabber?
- 13:26Speaker 1: Attention?
- 13:27Speaker 5: Jibber jabber?
- 13:29Speaker 3: Wait a second, I think I can do that better?
- 13:33Speaker 1: All right?
- 13:36Speaker 5: Ted Night? In Goods, did Chris Rock and cup, Bill
- 13:43Speaker 5: Walton and co.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Like it?
- 13:47Speaker 5: Hurt. It was painful coming. I brought it deep inside,
- 13:51Speaker 5: freeing cod In.
- 13:54Speaker 8: Oh yeah, Sean Connery, Marv Albert, m downtown.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Co.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Hey, this is Will Ferrel.
- 14:08Speaker 9: You're listening to the Dan Levatard Show and it was
- 14:11Speaker 9: a bad choice.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Coode, damn.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Hey, what's up?
- 14:16Speaker 5: This is Chris Rock. You're listening to the Dan Levoitard Show.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Now I'm not saying you should change the dow, but
- 14:22Speaker 5: if you did.
- 14:23Speaker 10: I understand You's Tan Levotard and Studios and Sports Talk
- 14:27Speaker 10: seven ninety Ticky, I'm out, Adam.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Sandler, A couple of big name dropped and there Will
- 14:40Speaker 2: Ferrell and Chris Rock tell.
- 14:41Speaker 5: Him, yes, I mean, our show is so massive.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Any pay flex on my part when I because I
- 14:47Speaker 2: was doing mostly Caliendo stuff and then I'm like, I
- 14:49Speaker 2: have fucking help. Put in Will Ferrell and Chris Rock
- 14:51Speaker 2: make sure this gets some play at the beginning of
- 14:53Speaker 2: the show.
- 14:54Speaker 3: So the thoughts I had as you were playing that
- 14:56Speaker 3: was how talented Frank Kelliendo is unbelievable.
- 14:59Speaker 1: He he is.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I don't know if Taylor had ever heard his Marv
- 15:02Speaker 2: Albert before. I know Nick Man had heard Albert.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Now I've never heard the Marv Albert that one was
- 15:08Speaker 4: my favorite one.
- 15:09Speaker 3: It's how much I missed the Big Voice and what
- 15:11Speaker 3: an important part of the show. The big Voice was
- 15:14Speaker 3: to the imaging, to the overall success of the of
- 15:18Speaker 3: the radio show. And then it was that it was
- 15:19Speaker 3: Chris Rocket Will Farrell. I'm like, man, we had those
- 15:21Speaker 3: guys on.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Those are big names, man, those are a listers. Here's
- 15:27Speaker 2: a direct message from Brad. I'm sure you get it
- 15:29Speaker 2: all the time, but man, these podcasts really helped me
- 15:33Speaker 2: get through some tough times. I can listen to them
- 15:35Speaker 2: over and over and do we appreciate that? And I
- 15:40Speaker 2: do hear that often, so thank you.
- 15:44Speaker 3: What I do love is that for for we've been
- 15:45Speaker 3: doing this for so long that as the the email
- 15:49Speaker 3: before that, that that you read the message that you got.
- 15:52Speaker 3: There are people hearing this for the first time and
- 15:54Speaker 3: there are people reliving this, and I love that.
- 15:57Speaker 5: I love it for both.
- 15:58Speaker 3: You know, both those groups you're reliving this or hearing
- 16:01Speaker 3: it for the first time, you're still getting satisfaction out
- 16:03Speaker 3: of it, and that makes us happy.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Well, how about people like the previous direct message I read,
- 16:08Speaker 2: who said I came to the show in twenty eighteen,
- 16:10Speaker 2: so I haven't heard this stuff.
- 16:11Speaker 5: It's brand new for me. I'm crying laughing in the cause.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Now think about that, this is twenty years after it happened.
- 16:19Speaker 2: We're talking about whether Fast Times at Ridgemont High holds up,
- 16:22Speaker 2: you know what I mean, or if cash Shack holds up.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And there's a guy going, hey, this show from two
- 16:27Speaker 2: thousand and five six seven holds up in twenty twenty six,
- 16:31Speaker 2: because I'm hearing it for the first time and I'm
- 16:32Speaker 2: liking it so very complimentary. Yes, this direct message shocked
- 16:38Speaker 2: me beyond belief. And I from a guy named Daniel,
- 16:47Speaker 2: because I've talked about the you know, the merch store
- 16:49Speaker 2: Horsemuffins dot Com, and I said my son had put
- 16:52Speaker 2: up an am a violent Sneezer shirt based on podcasters requests.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Someone dms me and he says, I sent to you
- 17:01Speaker 2: one of my most prized possessions and it is.
- 17:07Speaker 5: And I'm a violent sneezer. See it clock?
- 17:11Speaker 1: Yes?
- 17:12Speaker 2: And I DMed him back and I said, did I
- 17:16Speaker 2: sell that turn this?
- 17:21Speaker 5: He said, Clock By.
- 17:22Speaker 2: The way, Yeah, that's an actual wallflock. Yes, I'm a
- 17:27Speaker 2: violent sneezer. Amazing on the YouTube feed so.
- 17:30Speaker 5: I said, did I sell that?
- 17:32Speaker 2: And he said yes, it was available on the original
- 17:34Speaker 2: horse Mumping stock. Who knew I would imagine my guests, Daniel,
- 17:41Speaker 2: you own the only I'm a Violent Sneezer clock in the.
- 17:46Speaker 5: World, one of one, one of one. So thank you
- 17:53Speaker 5: for that, DM. That made my day.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I don't know if we're going to add clocks to
- 17:57Speaker 2: the news store, but you can get your violence her
- 18:00Speaker 2: T shirt if.
- 18:01Speaker 5: I would you.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I don't know this guy bought one though. There seems
- 18:04Speaker 2: to be a track record of people.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Why don't you also listeners?
- 18:07Speaker 3: If I put a clock on the website, would anyone
- 18:10Speaker 3: buy it?
- 18:12Speaker 2: Here is a direct message from a lady named Sophia. Hello, Mark,
- 18:18Speaker 2: my dad has got me to message you because he
- 18:21Speaker 2: does not have Instagram, so already you know probably the
- 18:24Speaker 2: age of the person listening. We live in Perth, Western Australia,
- 18:30Speaker 2: and he would love an episode with stugatsend Hawkman where
- 18:34Speaker 2: you talk about the fake pregame show and play the intro.
- 18:40Speaker 2: He also has purchased some T shirts from horse Muffins
- 18:43Speaker 2: dot com.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Nice.
- 18:44Speaker 5: The reason that I uh get the clock, the reason.
- 18:47Speaker 2: That I included that if you see the last line
- 18:49Speaker 2: He also purchased them from horse Muffins dot Com. The
- 18:52Speaker 2: reason that I include that is I do find it
- 18:55Speaker 2: funny that someone in Australia is walking in a T
- 19:00Speaker 2: shirt that says Sam Sneid my God, Yes you know
- 19:04Speaker 2: what I mean, and then there's a little attribution next
- 19:07Speaker 2: to it that says Alambardo. Like it's a famous quote
- 19:11Speaker 2: from John F. Kennedy, Sam Sneid, my God, Alambardo. But
- 19:15Speaker 2: there is someone in Perth, Australia walking around with a
- 19:19Speaker 2: shirt like that.
- 19:21Speaker 5: It's interesting.
- 19:21Speaker 3: As we moved on and we got to ESPN and
- 19:23Speaker 3: we started to get like real data and numbers of
- 19:25Speaker 3: where people were listening from, we had a massive following
- 19:29Speaker 3: in Australia.
- 19:30Speaker 5: That's crazy, wild and it's nuts.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Well for her dad in Perth, Australia, this is we
- 19:38Speaker 2: did a fake pregame show.
- 19:39Speaker 5: We did it for one season.
- 19:42Speaker 2: The radio station's idea was because I believe QAM had
- 19:46Speaker 2: the rights to the Dolphins and a serious pregame show,
- 19:50Speaker 2: right so I believe so we have.
- 19:52Speaker 3: The rights to the Dolphins, and I think WQAM got
- 19:54Speaker 3: him back. We still wanted to do a pregame show
- 19:57Speaker 3: right with a Dolphins because why wouldn't she in a
- 19:59Speaker 3: local market and.
- 20:00Speaker 2: There's money to be made, And so your idea was, well, hey,
- 20:04Speaker 2: we've lost the Dolphins back.
- 20:06Speaker 5: To QAM, how do we still maintain some sort of
- 20:11Speaker 5: ownership over the team. And you said, I've got to
- 20:15Speaker 5: talk Dan into doing a pregame show on Sundays. I
- 20:19Speaker 5: think it was three hours or four hours before the game,
- 20:22Speaker 5: and the sales pitch was, it'll be a fake pregame show.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Nothing is going to be serious. You can make fun
- 20:28Speaker 5: of the Dolphins. You can make fun of the QAM
- 20:31Speaker 5: pregame show. And we did it. We made money off it.
- 20:35Speaker 5: You guys sold it in.
- 20:38Speaker 2: But it was like it was a grind going in
- 20:41Speaker 2: on Sundays, Like none of us wanted to do it.
- 20:43Speaker 5: It was a total grind. It was also a total shift.
- 20:46Speaker 3: For me because you know, me being like the sports
- 20:49Speaker 3: radio guy and wanting to do the classic sports radio things.
- 20:52Speaker 3: And I do recall when I'm pitching that to Dan,
- 20:56Speaker 3: I'm like, wow, my mind has been rewired by both
- 20:59Speaker 3: Dad and Ah where I'm okay doing a fake pregame show.
- 21:03Speaker 3: In fact, I thought it was a better idea than
- 21:04Speaker 3: an actual pregame show.
- 21:05Speaker 2: You know it turned out, you know, nerves were frayed
- 21:08Speaker 2: on the show because we had to be in at
- 21:11Speaker 2: like nine am on a Sunday morning. None of us
- 21:14Speaker 2: wanted to go. The station was paying us a decent
- 21:18Speaker 2: amount of money. I don't believe you or Dan ever
- 21:21Speaker 2: got paid because this was towards the end of Joel
- 21:25Speaker 2: losing the station. I got paid. I remember sitting in
- 21:28Speaker 2: Murph's office. Sure at what was it called Craig was.
- 21:32Speaker 5: The real estate office?
- 21:33Speaker 9: Yeah? It Capital real Estate Group, Yeah, Craig. Yeah, Yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 9: I remember sitting in Murph's office. He was our controller
- 21:42Speaker 9: and uh, and he cut me a check for everything
- 21:45Speaker 9: I was owed for the fake pregame show when they
- 21:47Speaker 9: were just unable to cut checks at that point, Lincoln
- 21:49Speaker 9: Financial was about to take us over.
- 21:51Speaker 5: And uh, and he said, I used.
- 21:52Speaker 3: To get money towards the end, you just walk into
- 21:54Speaker 3: Murph's office and peg hope that.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Good mood, and hope that he'll cut you a check.
- 22:00Speaker 5: And that's exactly what That's how I got paid.
- 22:02Speaker 2: But nerves were frayed during by like week ten, nerves
- 22:06Speaker 2: were afraid at the fake pregame show. There is a
- 22:08Speaker 2: fake pregame show where Dan walked off. It left us
- 22:11Speaker 2: for the final hour, and it was because two Girls,
- 22:16Speaker 2: one Cup was a sensation at that time. I'm imagining
- 22:19Speaker 2: you've seen that, Taylor, You've seen two Girls, one Cup.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Be careful.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Yeah, unfortunately, because middle school.
- 22:26Speaker 2: So another great American actor, I forget her name, but
- 22:32Speaker 2: two girls, two Girls, one Cup was a sensation. Dan
- 22:38Speaker 2: hadn't seen it and just wanted me to play the
- 22:42Speaker 2: audio on the air without having gone through it and
- 22:46Speaker 2: edited it, and I'm like no, and I remember it
- 22:49Speaker 2: became a big fight and then we ended up playing it,
- 22:54Speaker 2: had to dump it, no pun and he ended up
- 22:59Speaker 2: walking off the show.
- 23:00Speaker 5: He was so mad at just the way things had
- 23:03Speaker 5: transpired around the show.
- 23:04Speaker 2: I got to see if I can find the audio
- 23:05Speaker 2: from that day, but he left us for about the
- 23:07Speaker 2: final fifty minutes. He left in a tiff. At anyway,
- 23:13Speaker 2: for Perth, Australia. Here is the actual fake pregame show open.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Is now.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Wow?
- 23:25Speaker 10: This is the fake pregame show with Dan Lemitz.
- 23:30Speaker 5: Aren't Sports Mostly Fun?
- 23:32Speaker 1: And Stu Gatts?
- 23:34Speaker 5: Who your call today? Your call?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Fake pre game show?
- 23:38Speaker 4: Let me tell you this Ted again is a Miami.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Dolphins fake preak game show.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Ted again.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I was jacked up when I saw that one.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Hey we we need a thumb to go this direction.
- 24:09Speaker 10: Fail forward fast, fake preaking show in a game again
- 24:15Speaker 10: in Sports Talk seven ninety, the tikets, this is a
- 24:21Speaker 10: fake pregame show.
- 24:23Speaker 5: We drafted again, family kick off.
- 24:26Speaker 10: It's three hours away, but a fake pre game show begins.
- 24:30Speaker 5: No Head again and his family.
- 24:34Speaker 4: We'll give us everything they have.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Fake preaking show, fail forward.
- 24:40Speaker 8: Fast, knocking fools out, Stu Gods knocking fooled out.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Hey, we we need a thumb to go this direction.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I was jacked up when I saw that Sports Talk
- 24:52Speaker 1: seven ninety. That's tad, Thank.
- 24:54Speaker 5: You very much.
- 24:57Speaker 2: So remember I I remember thinking like I need a
- 25:01Speaker 2: big open for it, just like we do the regular show,
- 25:04Speaker 2: Like we need something that makes it sound like our show,
- 25:07Speaker 2: but big and better than whatever.
- 25:10Speaker 5: QAM was producing. And that one kind of hit. Yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 5: it hit.
- 25:14Speaker 3: And you know, most importantly, we're asking Dan to do
- 25:16Speaker 3: something on a Sunday morning at ten o'clock, a pregame show,
- 25:19Speaker 3: which he doesn't want to do.
- 25:20Speaker 5: He doesn't want to work on the weekends. You wanted
- 25:22Speaker 5: him to feel like we were doing our show.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Yes, it was important for him to feel like he
- 25:28Speaker 2: didn't want to feel like he was selling out doing
- 25:31Speaker 2: a commercial, you know, radio pregame show, because and for
- 25:37Speaker 2: the station and whatever and so. But originally, I don't
- 25:40Speaker 2: think I've ever played this on the air. I don't
- 25:42Speaker 2: think this ever played once. Originally I had just taken
- 25:46Speaker 2: our normal show open, our normal show, big open, and
- 25:50Speaker 2: turned it into a big open for the fake pregame show.
- 25:53Speaker 5: And it didn't work.
- 25:54Speaker 2: And that's why I made that new one there with
- 25:56Speaker 2: new music and Cam Cameron, and.
- 25:59Speaker 5: It started with Michael Irvin saying the.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Time is now, like, yes, that was, But this was
- 26:04Speaker 2: the original thing that I had made, and you're gonna
- 26:07Speaker 2: notice it just doesn't work.
- 26:10Speaker 10: Attention, This is fake freaking show. Dan Levin's art.
- 26:15Speaker 8: The Miami Dolphins got debockled, Stu Gotts.
- 26:19Speaker 5: My name is Wiener. They called me wean.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Attention The Dolphin fake pre game Show.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Hey, this is Dan Marino and you're listening to Dan
- 26:28Speaker 5: Levatard Show.
- 26:29Speaker 1: But Dan, I wish I was on Roses Show.
- 26:33Speaker 5: Real beas Yeah, talking sports.
- 26:37Speaker 10: Attention, Hey Fox John Mann here, you know what's a
- 26:39Speaker 10: fake pregame show?
- 26:46Speaker 1: The Dolphin fake pre game Show.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Here it comes you can feel it in the distance.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Fake pregame show.
- 26:54Speaker 8: We totally changed the format of everything we do in
- 26:58Speaker 8: honor of the football. We spend all our time sticking
- 27:05Speaker 8: a HGH soaked football in your mouth, in your mall,
- 27:11Speaker 8: eat it, eat it up, eat the football right your mall.
- 27:15Speaker 5: Football Jason Taylor, Oh god.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Hey, this is Tony Dungeon.
- 27:21Speaker 8: I don't usually yellows people, but if I got the stamp,
- 27:24Speaker 8: I would like to yellows.
- 27:25Speaker 5: Dan Levatar, this is Jimmy Johnson, former coach of the Dolphins.
- 27:29Speaker 1: You're listening to show.
- 27:32Speaker 2: This is former Dolphin quarterback James Teeler, and you're listening
- 27:35Speaker 2: to the Fake Free Game Show.
- 27:37Speaker 10: He's Stan Levotar and Studia sent.
- 27:40Speaker 1: To Dolphins show.
- 27:47Speaker 2: It's a little too hurky jerky. The other one hit
- 27:49Speaker 2: a little bit harder.
- 27:51Speaker 5: Wait hawk.
- 27:51Speaker 3: So I think listeners would be interested in a couple
- 27:53Speaker 3: of things. The mechanics of you putting these together.
- 27:56Speaker 5: How did you know?
- 27:56Speaker 3: You heard that and you decided right then and there
- 27:59Speaker 3: that's not good for the face pregame show.
- 28:01Speaker 5: I heard it, I made it.
- 28:02Speaker 2: It probably took me several hours to make and then
- 28:06Speaker 2: you know, and then I would bounce it off people.
- 28:07Speaker 5: I would play it for.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Like, you can tell people's reactions. That's why I can't
- 28:11Speaker 2: when we're playing all these old clips. It's why I
- 28:13Speaker 2: can't look at Taylor because his reaction is stonefaced. You
- 28:15Speaker 2: don't get anything sleep because it hates the fucking podcast.
- 28:18Speaker 2: But you'd play it to people around the radio station,
- 28:22Speaker 2: and I know when someone loves something versus hey, that's
- 28:27Speaker 2: pretty good, you know what I mean, Like you just
- 28:29Speaker 2: you know, and and even after you hear it like
- 28:32Speaker 2: six or seven times and you're like, it doesn't it
- 28:35Speaker 2: doesn't work. And then I was like, and then I
- 28:37Speaker 2: remember coming like, it's just got to be different. It's
- 28:40Speaker 2: got to hit in a different way. It's got to
- 28:42Speaker 2: have the elements where it's going from show clips to
- 28:44Speaker 2: music to you know, liners and stuff. But it's just
- 28:47Speaker 2: got to sound different than the show, which is why
- 28:49Speaker 2: and ended up settling on the other one.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Hawk What I was just doing was looking at our
- 28:53Speaker 4: podcast analytics. Point six percent of our audience comes from Australia.
- 28:57Speaker 2: So that's yes, maybe there's more than one same sneaed
- 29:02Speaker 2: T shirt walking around the her.
- 29:07Speaker 5: What's the what's the.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Population of Australia, Like two hundred million people. The odds
- 29:12Speaker 2: of like two people passing each other on the Uh,
- 29:17Speaker 2: what's it called?
- 29:18Speaker 5: Where? Where's the like? Like the planes? What?
- 29:20Speaker 1: What?
- 29:20Speaker 5: What?
- 29:20Speaker 2: What in Australia? Yeah, where are all the kangaroos? What's
- 29:24Speaker 2: that area called?
- 29:27Speaker 5: I just went there. I have no idea what you're
- 29:28Speaker 5: talking about. He was called Australia. I don't know where
- 29:31Speaker 5: they with the outback?
- 29:32Speaker 2: Where's the out the outback, That's what I'm looking for,
- 29:35Speaker 2: not the outback steakhouse. Yeah, two people just passing each
- 29:38Speaker 2: other randomly in the outback. One of them is wearing
- 29:40Speaker 2: a same snead my God T shirt. The other guy
- 29:43Speaker 2: is wearing an Alma Violent Sneezer T shirt.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Or the odds, the.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Odds better that all life ends this week because Earth
- 29:50Speaker 2: gets hit by a meteor. Where those two people walk
- 29:53Speaker 2: past each other in the Australian out.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Like the spider Man pointing meme at each other.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Uh.
- 30:03Speaker 3: The other thing I wanted to ask you music was
- 30:05Speaker 3: so important to you. I noticed it's it's a staple
- 30:09Speaker 3: of your open You not only wanted to get the
- 30:12Speaker 3: listeners fired up because it all crescendo, the music coming
- 30:15Speaker 3: right out into me and Dan's voices, but you wanted
- 30:18Speaker 3: me and Dan to get fired up.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Yes, and me, I believe that music can set.
- 30:24Speaker 2: It's why I love the movie Fast Times a Ridgemon High, Like,
- 30:26Speaker 2: I think the music in that movie is so good.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I've always been into music, like that's really my love.
- 30:33Speaker 2: I mean, I still listen to eighties music constantly or
- 30:36Speaker 2: first wave constantly, you know. But for me, it's like
- 30:41Speaker 2: I always felt like, especially because we were up against
- 30:44Speaker 2: QM and QAM had a lot of older hosts compared
- 30:48Speaker 2: to us, so their music I felt. Now this may
- 30:51Speaker 2: not be true, but in my mind it's like, Oh,
- 30:54Speaker 2: they're coming into segments playing Carol King Like how like
- 30:57Speaker 2: how does that you know? Evoke im about sports? And
- 31:02Speaker 2: so I wanted to do stuff that was current and
- 31:07Speaker 2: upbeat and exciting, and so that was a big part
- 31:10Speaker 2: of what I produced.
- 31:11Speaker 3: I used to bring Hank in to Frank Sinatra and
- 31:14Speaker 3: then how about that?
- 31:15Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, because that's the music he liked.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Yes, I mean yeah, here's a DM from Josh. I
- 31:24Speaker 2: love the pod with you and Stu very happy with
- 31:27Speaker 2: the recent output of episodes. We did go through a
- 31:30Speaker 2: bunch of episodes over the last couple of weeks. It
- 31:33Speaker 2: gives me and my buddies something to text each other
- 31:36Speaker 2: about because we all used to listen to the show
- 31:38Speaker 2: in the good old days.
- 31:40Speaker 5: I met you guys at a heat.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Watch party in Fort Lauderdale at a bar called Mugs.
- 31:46Speaker 2: I don't even remember a bar called Mugs. No, I
- 31:48Speaker 2: remember a fifty to fifty club. Wasn't that what the
- 31:51Speaker 2: dining club was called? The fifty fifty Club? Yeah, the
- 31:53Speaker 2: fifty fifty Club. Yes, I remember JJ Muggs was a
- 31:56Speaker 2: restaurant on the fifty to fifty Club because I used
- 31:59Speaker 2: to take some of those certificates because it was on
- 32:01Speaker 2: my way home, so everyone to.
- 32:05Speaker 5: Some of those, He says.
- 32:06Speaker 2: I met you guys at a watch party at a
- 32:08Speaker 2: Fort Lauderdale bar called Mugs. I got a picture with Poppy.
- 32:11Speaker 2: I remember Stu Gotts cornered by a fan outside while
- 32:15Speaker 2: ripping heaters. Dude was talking about how he was the
- 32:19Speaker 2: guy with some specific Twitter profile pick that messaged him
- 32:23Speaker 2: all the time. Stugotts was doing classic Stugotts. Oh, yeah,
- 32:27Speaker 2: that's you. But I know he had no clue what
- 32:30Speaker 2: this guy was talking about. And I'm sure the guy
- 32:34Speaker 2: realized that as well, anyway, I would love to hear
- 32:38Speaker 2: some classic suies, or at least the sounder that you
- 32:41Speaker 2: would play with Mel Gibson screaming give me back my son,
- 32:45Speaker 2: which they all yell now when golfers are golfing. They
- 32:48Speaker 2: yelled at you know, when people are teeing off. Now
- 32:50Speaker 2: you hear give me.
- 32:53Speaker 1: He says.
- 32:54Speaker 2: I laugh every time, even when that movie came out,
- 32:56Speaker 2: and that was the trailer and we were laughing at
- 32:59Speaker 2: it back then. So here's a couple of things. We
- 33:02Speaker 2: played a SUI. Now I'm not talking about Suey Awards,
- 33:05Speaker 2: the actual SUI. When we would call, when listeners would
- 33:08Speaker 2: say how you're doing, and we would Suey them.
- 33:11Speaker 5: In my memory it was Suey and then we would.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Hang up, move on the and then we listened to
- 33:17Speaker 2: something a couple episodes ago, and I realized the suiy
- 33:21Speaker 2: I would just add on to it. He is at
- 33:23Speaker 2: key machine, and so the Suey became very long. Someone
- 33:27Speaker 2: sent me one a very nice listener said, I happened
- 33:29Speaker 2: to have this Suey saved, and these are delightful for me.
- 33:32Speaker 2: So here is one of the Suez one of the
- 33:35Speaker 2: incarnations of the Suez.
- 33:38Speaker 5: George, You're on seven ninety to take.
- 33:39Speaker 10: It, George lomb.
- 33:49Speaker 5: My favorite is young Geze, Thank you, son of a bitch.
- 33:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I mister page Geze Lombardo.
- 33:57Speaker 5: It just became a whole bunch of sounds.
- 34:01Speaker 2: That is Ja Billis by the way saying, or I
- 34:04Speaker 2: love Young Jeezy.
- 34:06Speaker 5: That is Stu God singing his famous punished.
- 34:09Speaker 2: The listener's song in there, And I don't know if
- 34:12Speaker 2: you heard in there that is my famous fake pigeon.
- 34:17Speaker 2: That's my famous I've been doing that impersonation for years.
- 34:20Speaker 2: You cannot tell if it's a real pigeon or a
- 34:22Speaker 2: fake pigeon. Right, you feel like you're back on the streets.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I heard of my house. Here is the sound that
- 34:34Speaker 2: we fell in love with.
- 34:35Speaker 5: This is from a movie trailer.
- 34:36Speaker 2: This is the actual clip from the movie trailer of
- 34:39Speaker 2: Mel Gibson Give me back my son.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Men.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Ransom was that movie called Ransom? It was Ransom? Yes,
- 34:52Speaker 5: And I love action movies and.
- 34:54Speaker 3: We always owned Dan anything that would come out that
- 34:59Speaker 3: I would love, big dumb movies.
- 35:01Speaker 2: There was something so funny about that line, him on
- 35:04Speaker 2: the phone and them telling it, and He's just like,
- 35:07Speaker 2: give me.
- 35:07Speaker 5: Back my son. Yes, was it called Ransom. There's no
- 35:10Speaker 5: chance you've seen that movie, right, Taylor.
- 35:12Speaker 4: No, Ransom, nineteen ninety.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Six, Yeah, ninety six, Ransom. He didn't see it. Now
- 35:17Speaker 3: if it was ninety seven, there was a chance because
- 35:19Speaker 3: he can't play because off, Yes, what I love? Play
- 35:23Speaker 3: that sound just one more time. Just play it, Taylor,
- 35:27Speaker 3: give me my son.
- 35:30Speaker 5: What I love is. That's the first thing you hear
- 35:32Speaker 5: for a guy.
- 35:33Speaker 3: If a person called into the show and had the
- 35:35Speaker 3: audacity to say, hello, how are you guys?
- 35:39Speaker 5: It's such a great sound. And I remember Dan falling
- 35:44Speaker 5: in love with that sound because that movie trailer was playing.
- 35:46Speaker 2: It was a commercial on our station, and he was
- 35:49Speaker 2: fascinated by that line, give me back my son, so
- 35:53Speaker 2: fascinated that it became a running thing on the show.
- 35:57Speaker 5: Here is al Pacino doing give me back my son.
- 36:01Speaker 5: How about Paccino?
- 36:02Speaker 10: Gm me back my son.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Here is John Madden, John Madden.
- 36:11Speaker 10: Give me back my son.
- 36:12Speaker 5: Boom, A little boom in there, really.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Punch way you were thinking I was gonna do.
- 36:17Speaker 5: It, not the way I thought. It's uve. I like
- 36:19Speaker 5: to go different ways.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Give me back my signed boom.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Here is Jim Rome. I'd like to hear Jim Rome
- 36:29Speaker 5: say it give me back my Son.
- 36:36Speaker 2: If I'm not mistaken, Jim Rome uses this on his
- 36:40Speaker 2: show all the time, the not the clip of him,
- 36:43Speaker 2: but the actual mel Gibson sound. I think Jim Rome
- 36:46Speaker 2: uses it in a way still to this day that
- 36:48Speaker 2: we used way back in ninety six.
- 36:52Speaker 5: No, ninety six, the movie came out ninety six.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Well, the show didn't start till two thousand and four,
- 36:57Speaker 2: So how the hell were we seeing commercials for give
- 36:58Speaker 2: me back my Son.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Maybe it wasn't Uh, maybe it wasn't Ransom.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Now I'm sure, no, it was. It had to be Ransom.
- 37:06Speaker 2: We must have just fallen in love with that line. Dan.
- 37:08Speaker 2: I bet Dan had seen the movie like he was
- 37:11Speaker 2: just watching it on cable and probably brought it down
- 37:13Speaker 2: one day, yeah, and said, hey, can you get the
- 37:16Speaker 2: sound from Ransom? Because the math doesn't add up there.
- 37:18Speaker 2: If the movie came out in ninety six, the show
- 37:20Speaker 2: wouldn't start for another eight years after that.
- 37:25Speaker 3: You're right, But for some reason I want to say
- 37:28Speaker 3: it's a different movie though.
- 37:29Speaker 5: No, No, it's absolutely Ransom.
- 37:32Speaker 4: You have it being a different movie where somebody's son
- 37:34Speaker 4: gets taken starry.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I do yes, yeah, well if it's Mel Gibson, of course,
- 37:39Speaker 3: why not. I mean, in every movie his son is
- 37:40Speaker 3: being taken.
- 37:42Speaker 2: It's got to be ransom, ransom, give yeah, ransom, give
- 37:49Speaker 2: me back my son.
- 37:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Yeah, So that must have just been Dan falling in
- 37:52Speaker 2: love with the movie after having seen it on cable.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Yes, I remember telling Dan if there's a movie and
- 37:57Speaker 3: one of the lines in the movie is a guy scream,
- 38:00Speaker 3: I mean, give me back my son.
- 38:01Speaker 5: I'm seeing that movie.
- 38:02Speaker 2: I mean it's really if you listen to that line
- 38:05Speaker 2: with all the bangs and whizzes or whatever, like, how
- 38:08Speaker 2: could you not want to watch that movie? There's nothing there,
- 38:13Speaker 2: Like the guy has kidnapped his son, and Mel Gibson
- 38:17Speaker 2: just thinks he's gonna yell at him enough to get
- 38:19Speaker 2: his son back. And I don't think it's gonna like
- 38:21Speaker 2: he's just screaming, give me back my son. But like
- 38:23Speaker 2: that's not a great negotiation as far as I'm concerned.
- 38:28Speaker 5: Here's Ted Knight saying it, you know what you're gonna do,
- 38:39Speaker 5: give me.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Give me back, and I'll get to one final one.
- 38:54Speaker 2: I just wanted to read a couple more d ms
- 38:57Speaker 2: from Jason. How many people washed their hair with a
- 39:01Speaker 2: bar of soap. After listening to the show back in
- 39:04Speaker 2: the day, do you know what that is in reference.
- 39:07Speaker 5: To Jerry Sloan, That is right.
- 39:10Speaker 2: I maintained that Jerry Sloane was such a man that
- 39:15Speaker 2: he washed his hair with a bar of soap and
- 39:18Speaker 2: just he would never use shampoo. He was a man's man. Now,
- 39:21Speaker 2: do you know who Jerry Sloane is? Taylor the basketball coach? Yeah, Utah,
- 39:27Speaker 2: the Bulls. He played for the Bulls when I was
- 39:29Speaker 2: a kid in the seventies. I maintained he was such
- 39:34Speaker 2: a man because real men's met like Kim Bokamper Oh yeah,
- 39:39Speaker 2: and use shampoo.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Right.
- 39:40Speaker 2: He takes the bar of soap, ivory soap, he runs
- 39:43Speaker 2: it over his head and he's done with Yes.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I don't expect you to be tuning into many Oriole games,
- 39:48Speaker 3: but do you know Ben McDonald on one of the
- 39:51Speaker 3: broadcast he does the games, he actually talked about not
- 39:55Speaker 3: never ever in his entire life has he ever used
- 39:58Speaker 3: shampoo in his hair. And because he's what do you
- 40:02Speaker 3: use He's like a bar of soap?
- 40:03Speaker 5: Man? Is he a man's man? He is a man's man? Yeah,
- 40:06Speaker 5: Because I feel like that's.
- 40:08Speaker 2: A man's man thing right where it would be like
- 40:10Speaker 2: my grandfather. My grandfather drove a taxi and unloaded ships
- 40:17Speaker 2: at the dock in Chicago.
- 40:19Speaker 5: There's no chance he ever bought a bottle of shampoo
- 40:22Speaker 5: in his life.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Now, grant that he was, you know, probably in the
- 40:26Speaker 2: nineteen tens and twenties, right.
- 40:29Speaker 5: But he I'm sure he ran a bar of soap
- 40:31Speaker 5: over his head.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Yes, Jerry Sloan didn't have fucking time to you know,
- 40:36Speaker 2: drop some shampoo in his hand and lather up it
- 40:40Speaker 2: like he's already got.
- 40:41Speaker 5: The soap in his hand. He's got the soap in
- 40:43Speaker 5: his hand. What I mean, I'm gonna gonna run it
- 40:45Speaker 5: over his hair a couple of times. And he's good.
- 40:48Speaker 3: Guy's got places to go, he's got people to meet,
- 40:50Speaker 3: he's got NBA finals to lose.
- 40:53Speaker 5: I mean, he's got stuff to do.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Somebody says, uh so that guy. Jason writes that in
- 40:58Speaker 2: how many people do you think started washing their hair
- 41:00Speaker 2: with a bar of soap after listening to the show
- 41:02Speaker 2: back in the day, and he says, man, throw all
- 41:04Speaker 2: the big opens on YouTube and watch the views pile in.
- 41:08Speaker 2: I love this podcast, so thank you very much appreciate that.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Is there any chance Ben McDonald was a listener of
- 41:16Speaker 3: the show and heard the Jerry Sloane era possible?
- 41:19Speaker 2: It was a pretty long era that I was fixated
- 41:22Speaker 2: on Jerry Sloane washing his hair with a good Year
- 41:26Speaker 2: with a bar of soap. In fact, I have in
- 41:29Speaker 2: my closet John Crotty, who's the Heat television analyst. But
- 41:35Speaker 2: John Crotty played in Utah under Jerry Sloane. John Crotty
- 41:39Speaker 2: once brought me a personalized autograph picture of Jerry Sloane
- 41:43Speaker 2: because I talked about him so much on the show.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Great, Yeah, that was great.
- 41:47Speaker 5: He should have got an autographed bar of soap. How
- 41:51Speaker 5: much would that go.
- 41:52Speaker 2: For get Darren ravel on the line, I'm an autograph
- 41:56Speaker 2: bar of Ivory soap from the late Jerry Sloane.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Go for.
- 42:02Speaker 2: My most valuable collectable, Gils Mafia dms YO. I just
- 42:09Speaker 2: want to say thanks for all you did with the
- 42:11Speaker 2: Levatard Show, and thanks for going down memory lane with
- 42:14Speaker 2: Stugatts and Hawkman. I started regularly listening in twenty ten,
- 42:19Speaker 2: twenty eleven. You clearly set the standard and coach Mike Ryan, well,
- 42:23Speaker 2: it's been a joy to revisit those days. And then
- 42:26Speaker 2: he writes, and this is based off a previous pod,
- 42:29Speaker 2: and it's why I love the listeners to this podcast.
- 42:31Speaker 2: In case you're interested, here's a Reddit thread of sports
- 42:35Speaker 2: names that cannote Texas.
- 42:36Speaker 5: City's Oh I am interested, which we did on this
- 42:41Speaker 5: actual podcast.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Here's one other guy guys in and I don't have
- 42:48Speaker 2: his name here. Guy writes in absolutely love the pod.
- 42:51Speaker 2: I graduated high school in two thousand and seven. Prime
- 42:55Speaker 2: DLS years. A couple of requests updated Dolphin's quarter t shirt.
- 43:01Speaker 2: My dad bought me one back in the day. I
- 43:03Speaker 2: proudly wore it through college and was laughed at a lot.
- 43:07Speaker 5: We've probably got another dozen names to add.
- 43:10Speaker 2: There is an updated Dolphins quarterback t shirt on the
- 43:13Speaker 2: updated website Horsemuffins dot com. It is a list we
- 43:17Speaker 2: call it know Your History, but it is a list
- 43:19Speaker 2: of every Dolphins starting quarterback since Dan Marino, and it
- 43:24Speaker 2: goes all the way up to Malik Willis.
- 43:26Speaker 5: So it has been updated. It's a staggering list.
- 43:30Speaker 2: If you're a Dolphins fan and don't DM me and
- 43:34Speaker 2: say I forgot Pat White on the shirt because he
- 43:36Speaker 2: never started a game. He only came in in relief.
- 43:40Speaker 2: These are only quarterbacks who have started a game. Number two.
- 43:45Speaker 2: The guy rights take stew up on the Paul Castronovo episode,
- 43:49Speaker 2: assuming he's telling the truth. I used to make the
- 43:52Speaker 2: twelve hour drive from North Carolina to South Florida, loaded
- 43:56Speaker 2: up with DLS from seven to ninety the ticket and
- 43:59Speaker 2: Paul and Young from Big one oh five point nine.
- 44:02Speaker 2: More than once I had to pull over because I
- 44:04Speaker 2: was crying laughing. More than once I pulled over for
- 44:07Speaker 2: the same reason listening to him. Would love the history
- 44:11Speaker 2: between the shows, especially Ron McGill and other items. We'll
- 44:16Speaker 2: definitely do an episode here with Paul Castronova. We're both
- 44:19Speaker 2: friendly with them. I want to tell you the funniest thing.
- 44:21Speaker 3: As you were reading that, a text pops up on
- 44:24Speaker 3: my phone and it's from Paul casht Gronova, Oh get
- 44:28Speaker 3: out of here, and he says, bro, come by my
- 44:31Speaker 3: show one morning, pop on for an hour.
- 44:34Speaker 5: We'll have a blast. I haven't seen you in years.
- 44:37Speaker 2: That's crazy. We're like, tell we're talking about him right now.
- 44:41Speaker 2: That's insane.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Yes, I told him, Yes, Taylor, Paul. Just so you know,
- 44:45Speaker 3: this is like the biggest local. Like if you told
- 44:47Speaker 3: me in Hop twenty five years ago. Yep, that Paul
- 44:50Speaker 3: cash Gronova was inviting us onto his show.
- 44:53Speaker 5: We would have laughed out of the room. These guys
- 44:55Speaker 5: had like fifteen shares Morning Drive in my crazy like
- 44:58Speaker 5: and he's still a legend.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Yeah uh.
- 45:01Speaker 2: And then this guy dms me number three origins of
- 45:06Speaker 2: Randy Mohler gold calls. One of mine actually made it
- 45:09Speaker 2: on the game once. I have saved the audio ever since.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Thank you again for the podcast. Absolutely loving the nostalgia.
- 45:18Speaker 2: So we will do a Randy Mohler episode and I'm
- 45:20Speaker 2: friends with Molar, We'll have him on this podcast talk
- 45:23Speaker 2: about it. But here is we once gave Randy Mohler
- 45:26Speaker 2: to work into a Panthers hockey game.
- 45:29Speaker 5: Give me back my Son. Here it is.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Booth walks up the boards, stumps it back and behind
- 45:34Speaker 2: that at the Sednik's there double team comes right down.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Nathan Hardy fires thy.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Surtaday stars that heard.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Me back my son right on?
- 45:46Speaker 5: Play pits me Belly.
- 45:49Speaker 2: That is such a great fucking call. That gives me
- 45:53Speaker 2: chills that Molar would do that for us.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Yes, and by the way, so we were the flagship
- 45:57Speaker 3: station of the Panthers and the Panthers wanted some cross
- 46:00Speaker 3: promotion headed into the games, and it was tough to
- 46:03Speaker 3: convince Dan to have anyone hockey related on at that time.
- 46:07Speaker 3: So we had to convince him that Randy Moeller A
- 46:09Speaker 3: was entertaining and b would do something like this if
- 46:12Speaker 3: we got creative with good gold calls.
- 46:14Speaker 5: And he did it, and he did it well.
- 46:16Speaker 2: And Molds Moler, to his credit, realized that, hey, if
- 46:21Speaker 2: I can get some listeners on the AM radio broadcast
- 46:25Speaker 2: of these Panthers games that are drawing four and five
- 46:27Speaker 2: thousand people. I mean, listen to the names he's calling
- 46:31Speaker 2: out there right. It was Nathan Horton and was it
- 46:34Speaker 2: Billy Pelton? And like, I forget who the other name was,
- 46:36Speaker 2: but I mean like they were direft, devoid, devoid of talent.
- 46:41Speaker 5: Yesdoid I think, yes, yeah, devoid of talent.
- 46:44Speaker 2: And he realized, like, oh, if I can do something
- 46:47Speaker 2: to incorporate Lebtard show listeners, like maybe I'll br and
- 46:49Speaker 2: it did.
- 46:50Speaker 5: It brought listeners to the Panthers game.
- 46:51Speaker 3: It was so smart because our listeners were crazy enough
- 46:54Speaker 3: and passionate enough that they would actually just listen to
- 46:57Speaker 3: the Panther game to see if Moler would do the call,
- 46:59Speaker 3: you know.
- 47:00Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Anyway, we.
- 47:04Speaker 2: End this podcast and DM me if you want to
- 47:06Speaker 2: hear stuff. I like playing some of those requests. I
- 47:08Speaker 2: do want to do a molar episode. We'll do a
- 47:10Speaker 2: Pulcastronovo episode. But you can DM me on Instagram. It's
- 47:14Speaker 2: Radio Mark Hawkman Again. If you'd be as kind enough
- 47:18Speaker 2: to buy a T shirt or a hoodie on my
- 47:21Speaker 2: son's merch store, that would be January astiated, or a clock,
- 47:26Speaker 2: or put an order advanced order for a clock. There
- 47:28Speaker 2: are no clocks up there. Horse Muffins dot com is
- 47:32Speaker 2: the website, but you can rock the winstugottson Hachman podcast.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Colors on a shirt, a hoodie, long sleeve shirt, there's
- 47:43Speaker 2: even women's shirts up there. You got Ron Gidrey. We
- 47:48Speaker 2: have to do three nicknames to end the podcast. You
- 47:50Speaker 2: got Ron Guidry. So I was looking since we had
- 47:53Speaker 2: that DM from someone in Australia who listens to the show.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I looked for Australian athlete with nicknames.
- 48:01Speaker 5: Unfortunately, I don't think you're gonna get any of these.
- 48:04Speaker 3: Wow, Ian Thorpe torpedo, torpedo, God.
- 48:10Speaker 5: How the fuck did you know you know he's a swimmer.
- 48:16Speaker 5: Of course, this is why we're so big in Australia.
- 48:18Speaker 2: I mean, holy shit, Ian Thorpe, the Thorpedo.
- 48:23Speaker 5: That's unbelievable. That's unbelievable.
- 48:27Speaker 2: You don't even need to get another one, as far
- 48:29Speaker 2: as I'm concerned, I'll give you a couple just to check.
- 48:31Speaker 2: That is the most impressive athlete nickname poll I have
- 48:35Speaker 2: ever heard in my life.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Out of all the things that you can't remember, it
- 48:41Speaker 2: happened to you over the years, you somehow remembered the
- 48:46Speaker 2: legendary Olympic freestyle swimmer Ian Thorpe's nickname was the Thorpedo.
- 48:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll never forget it. You are an interesting bird.
- 48:59Speaker 5: I can't get this bird out of my house from
- 49:01Speaker 5: crying out loud. That is not.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Where is this pigeon coming from? What's better my Joe
- 49:09Speaker 2: Girardi or the pigeon or the pigeon?
- 49:11Speaker 3: Well, let's hear him side by side. First, give us off,
- 49:13Speaker 3: fake Joe Girardi. Hey, I'm Joe Girardi. Puts the fake pigeon.
- 49:22Speaker 1: You don't know.
- 49:23Speaker 5: As far as you know, I'm.
- 49:24Speaker 2: In a room with Joe Girardi in a pigeon, which
- 49:28Speaker 2: could happen on radio row. That's the only place that
- 49:31Speaker 2: Joe Girardi could be next to a pigeon radio rope,
- 49:33Speaker 2: because that's where matchups happened that you'd never expect.
- 49:37Speaker 5: How about Mike Hussy Mike Hussey? Yeah, I mean I
- 49:47Speaker 5: don't even know what sports. Yeah, well you're gonna know
- 49:53Speaker 5: it when I tell you his nickname. I have no idea.
- 49:59Speaker 2: His nickname is mister Cricket. Like he's like the Jeff
- 50:04Speaker 2: give it away. He's like, uh, he's like, he's like
- 50:08Speaker 2: mister Marlin, Jeff co nine, mister Cricket.
- 50:11Speaker 5: Mike Hussey, Cordy, how mister Hockey. There you go. Wow,
- 50:16Speaker 5: greatest nicknames of misters.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Banks, mister Cubb, Oh, mister Cub, Reggie Jackson is he
- 50:24Speaker 3: mister Yankee?
- 50:25Speaker 5: No, mister October, mister October. That's right. Uh?
- 50:28Speaker 3: How did I get that wrong? I can't believe it.
- 50:30Speaker 3: I got Ian thorpe bright. I have a strange bird
- 50:33Speaker 3: speaking of birds.
- 50:34Speaker 2: The thorpedo, And didn't remember Reggie Jackson's nickname.
- 50:40Speaker 5: And he grew up in New York. Chauncey Billups, mister
- 50:46Speaker 5: big shot. Oh, it's a good one misters famous nickname. Misters.
- 50:52Speaker 5: That's a good category. Yes, wasn't there a guy in
- 50:55Speaker 5: hockey named mister Game seven?
- 50:57Speaker 3: Wasn't there? I think there was. I mean I would
- 51:01Speaker 3: defer to he did it once at a game seven.
- 51:05Speaker 3: I think it was a Game six. Actually don't.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 51:07Speaker 5: This is something we could address. There is a mister
- 51:09Speaker 5: Game seven.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Rock party, mister irrelevant irrelevant?
- 51:13Speaker 2: Wow, wow, mister mister. Yeah, the band from the eighties,
- 51:20Speaker 2: Purie A. It's a great song, mister mister. All right,
- 51:24Speaker 2: we gotta go. Nice job out of you. Everybody go
- 51:26Speaker 2: order a shirt at horse Muffins dot com. And uh,
- 51:31Speaker 2: maybe next episode we'll bring on the Torpedo. Does anyone
- 51:34Speaker 2: know if Ian Thorpe is alive?
- 51:36Speaker 5: I have no idea. Why don't we bring on Hussey
- 51:43Speaker 1: With Stu Gotts and Hawkman
