- 0:00welcome to the multiple nerdgasm E3 wrap-up episode I'm your host Jenna and
- 0:05I'm joined by Matt we did it I know we did it we went to E3 we did I had a good
- 0:10time so did I I know a lot of people didn't we'll talk about that later but I
- 0:15definitely did it was our first year there and it's something that I have
- 0:18always wanted to do mhm yep did it live up to your high expectations in some
- 0:24ways it did in some ways it didn't yeah actually I suppose that
- 0:28Echoes my feelings so but I did have a really great time and I feel like every
- 0:33other convention will now pale in comparison yeah yeah just just for sheer
- 0:39volume of stuff I think the others have a lot to to keep up with mhm well since
- 0:45this is our first time at E3 maybe we should do a little history of e3 and uh
- 0:50what is E3 very very well because I think a lot of people don't really get
- 0:54it I've noticed that yeah E3 is not a typical convention or um like a Gaming
- 1:01Expo like everybody thinks it is it's more of a trade show it's a business
- 1:04show yeah so yes there are definitely flashy booths and they spend millions
- 1:09and millions of dollars um all the AAA companies yeah uh to display here but
- 1:14that is really for the media to Hype it
- 1:18up yeah and to sell the games to other businesses so I guess in the past it
- 1:24wouldn't be uncommon to see people there in business suits right whereas this
- 1:27year it was kind of a mix of that um because they sold tickets to the public
- 1:30for the first time it was a mix of people in business suits and people in
- 1:35video game shirts and cosplay in some cases and cosplay yeah yeah I mean I got
- 1:40nothing against cosplay it was just a weird venue for it this is like going to
- 1:43a home show yeah right in Cosplay
- 1:46dressing as a builder yeah yeah no I uh like I said we haven't been before uh
- 1:53however I've followed E3 since I was like 15 years old the very first one
- 1:58happened when I was 15 so I was very familiar with what it is and so I was a
- 2:04little I was surprised to see that that there this year because I knew that you
- 2:08know it's a it's a professional exhibition for professionals to do
- 2:11professional things right which I was actually looking forward to because we
- 2:15have plenty of conventions absolutely yeah Pax is like off the hook as far as
- 2:21all that other stuff is concerned MH I just said off the hook yeah do you want
- 2:25to you want to do it again no that can stay in it's fine off off the chain of
- 2:30the chain well I'm off the reservation let's go on go on go on hit me with some
- 2:34hit me with some knowledge about the history of e3 E3 stands for the
- 2:38Electronic Entertainment Expo um it's presented by the esa the entertainment
- 2:44software Association previously games were shown at the CES the Consumer
- 2:49Electronics Show but with the growth of the video game industry in the '90s E3
- 2:55was created mhm the CES was a show that encompassed all consumer electronics mhm
- 3:01so video games was a very small part of that and a lot of companies complained
- 3:06that they were shoved in the back room one year Sega was displaying the Genesis
- 3:10system and they complained that they were put in a tent where it was pouring
- 3:13rain and leaking on top of the Genesis so uh the companies kind of got upset
- 3:19about that decided they wanted to Branch off and start their own show which took
- 3:23off yeah people didn't think video games were going to be a big deal I guess back
- 3:27back a little while ago when they were wrong yeah definitely it's a huge industry now
- 3:32it's actually I think last year it made over $30 billion the industry itself
- 3:37yeah wow the first event was held in um May of 1995 at the Los Angeles
- 3:42Convention Center where this one this year was held mhm uh with 40,000
- 3:47attendees Sega displayed the Saturn Sony displayed the PlayStation wow um and
- 3:53Atari displayed the Jaguar VR huh which I find interesting because VR is still a
- 4:00thing today that people are trying to get consumers to pick up on yeah like
- 4:04it's only kind of just coming in to mainstream Atari was always like a
- 4:09little bit ahead of the game I like I think like the lynx was the most
- 4:13powerful handheld at the time and then they had the Jag jagar which is the
- 4:17first 64-bit console I think and uh yeah but then they just couldn't follow
- 4:24through on it and they were too expensive so anyway I digress they were
- 4:27always a little bit ahead well well we just received news today that Atari is
- 4:32making a new console so hopefully they'll they'll come in and surpass
- 4:37everyone yeah cuz I was thinking oh it'll be like some retro thing nope it's
- 4:40to compete with Microsoft and Sony so all right cool look forward to that next
- 4:46E3 yeah hopefully other companies at the 95 E3 was were Atari Nintendo and a
- 4:52claim M among others oh wow I remember claim wow um 2005 was the first year that it
- 4:59was aired on television on G4 if you remember that I was a big fan of that
- 5:04and kind of miss that it's on it's not around anymore it wasn't it was not easy
- 5:09to watch in Australia uh I can tell you that but I knew of its existence because
- 5:13everyone else was talking about it and I couldn't have it so um a lot of current
- 5:17day hosts in the video game industry started there right in 2007 and 2018 the
- 5:24exhibitors felt like the public attendees uh not really public but with
- 5:29all the bloggers and that kind of media that was coming in it felt like it
- 5:33diluted their ability to reach their target audience which is retailers and
- 5:39journalists yeah and a lot of exhibitors were prepared to pull out a e3 did you
- 5:44say this was in the past or that was this year not going on this was 10 years ago
- 5:50so um in 2007 they renamed it they rebranded to the E3 media and business
- 5:55Summit and they capped attendance at 10,000 it was moved to a different venue
- 5:59a smaller venue and it was very very exclusive in the business and
- 6:05journalists right that were invited it was invite only um the next year only
- 6:105,000 people attended which I can imagine when you're spending millions of
- 6:13dollars on your big flashy
- 6:16advertisements yeah uh yeah it's not really doing it no you want you want
- 6:22more eyeballs on them than that because the esa couldn't win uh the exhibitors
- 6:27now complained that they weren't reaching any audience
- 6:30that there was not enough media coverage so the show was rebranded again back to
- 6:35E3 which is what it is now yep and it was moved permanently to the LA
- 6:39Convention Center with a cap of 45,000 close to the public right usually
- 6:45attendance now is about 40 to 50,000 this year was
- 6:5068,000 wow because for the first year ever E3 was open to the public they sold
- 6:5615,000 tickets um the first 1,000 were sold at $150 and the rest were sold at$
- 7:02250 mhm um which a lot of the public
- 7:05complained about the high prices but ah it's a tough one really yeah well
- 7:12because you yeah because it is an industry event and it's not really meant
- 7:19for the public which I'm not saying the public shouldn't be there I'm just
- 7:22saying I think they were expecting a bit more than what was there right they
- 7:28previously haven't had vendors where this year there were uh at least four or
- 7:33five because they're not selling to Media professionals or industry
- 7:39professionals they also didn't really have events or things to do besides
- 7:44showcasing the games and I think the public that put so much money into these
- 7:49tickets were kind of expecting that yeah because of PS I guess and these other I
- 7:55guess more fan-based conventions you know like at PS when you're in line you
- 7:59have line entertainment people like if there's enforcers there that Entertain
- 8:02You And there's right things going on in giveaways and and you know the cookie
- 8:07Brigade and all that stuff whereas E3 was about serious business like and I
- 8:13don't mean that to sound patronizing I just mean like it literally was was a a
- 8:17business meeting like it wasn't right it wasn't about having fun right it's for
- 8:21networking mhm yeah and I don't think E3 was really prepared for the caliber of
- 8:28of people like the the line control wasn't really there
- 8:33um there were people pushing in line yeah and again we're not saying that the
- 8:39general public shouldn't be allowed in because you know this is the kind of I
- 8:43you know I always wanted to go to it I understand why people want to go to it
- 8:45but I think they need to rethink how they structure it and organize it if
- 8:50they are going to do that because that's right two different things right and the
- 8:55public that bought tickets were expecting it to be like a big convention
- 8:59right and the people who have gone to E3 in the past the industry professionals
- 9:03were expecting it to be a a trade show yeah um which is what it's always been
- 9:09but it really it didn't do well being a mix of those two things this year
- 9:15because the industry professionals weren't able to do their jobs right um
- 9:20because the lines for games were so long we even had trouble the first day like
- 9:25they had to open the doors 15 minutes early because it was a fire with the
- 9:29amount of people standing in the entryway mhm and if you got into the
- 9:33Hall about 10 minutes after it was supposed to open the lines were already
- 9:38two or three hours long yeah and people missed appointments that's right yeah
- 9:43it's uh it's tough yeah a lot of sites
- 9:47uh are now saying in future it's going to be easier for them to just do all
- 9:52this stuff from home or from the office or wherever because you they stream all
- 9:58of the presentations should say the press conferences aren't even part of e3
- 10:01anymore they're like separate events that's right that the uh that the the
- 10:05company has to invite you to like Microsoft or Bethesda or Ubisoft Sony
- 10:08they're all completely separate things you have to be invited to them and so
- 10:13it's easier to if you're going to be the first you know you want to post all this
- 10:17stuff you want to post uh feedback uh you want to be the first to to talk
- 10:21about this stuff on the internet it's it's harder to do it if you're there
- 10:25it's easier it's easier to sit at home in your Wi-Fi and exactly and then and
- 10:29you can edit together a video in like you know the next 10 minutes or whatever
- 10:33instead of having to to you know run back to the hotel or or a meeting room
- 10:36or what however the hell you're going to manage that from from the convention and
- 10:39not only that it's better for the companies like say Microsoft Microsoft
- 10:45announced a bunch of new this this E3 it's better for them if the audience
- 10:52at that press conference is a bunch of screaming fans because it looks better
- 10:56than a bunch of very serious you know like media people making notes and
- 11:01nodding and oh yes very interesting like they want people who are excited the
- 11:05fans right so right and I did read some articles that there were some
- 11:09journalists that said they would show up to one of the um I think the Microsoft
- 11:13one in particular uh all of the media were way way back like in the nose Leed
- 11:18section because right up front were the people had who had won tickets or been
- 11:23giving tickets and makes sense like going crazy you want them on camera
- 11:27looking excited right right yeah yeah so I can see why they because really the
- 11:31whole thing it has always been about marketing it's just now the the way
- 11:36marketing works is very different so I I I can see why the fans are confused
- 11:41because they don't know like CU E3 is figuring out what it wants to do and
- 11:44they they're not used to it the media is confused yeah the media is confused
- 11:49because they're used to the way it used to be and so everybody's just kind of a
- 11:52bit Topsy Turvy so there's been a lot of negative feedback yeah um EA has
- 11:58actually pulled out of of e3 MH um last year and have decided to do their own EA
- 12:04play uh a more fan-based um Expo y yeah
- 12:09well again like that's that that works better for him these days I
- 12:13think yeah yeah clearly I mean EA knows
- 12:18knows the business of video games that's one thing they definitely know but
- 12:23overall uh we had a lot of fun and absolutely yeah and so while we can
- 12:28understand certain groups of people were a bit disappointed we would we were not
- 12:33because I guess we we we were new and we we knew that this was all going on and I
- 12:38guess we you know content to just experience it as it is well I think that
- 12:44we should get into what everybody really wants to hear yep fair fair enough our
- 12:50time at Disney no I'm joking um the games yes and the
- 12:56hardware yes yeah there were a few few announcements this year it wasn't a huge
- 13:00year it feels like it was it does I mean there definitely were a lot of
- 13:05announcements a lot of them were sequels that's true actually yeah or just the
- 13:09same game again right well we'll start with EA um as we said they have pulled
- 13:16out of e3 they hold their own convention um a public event which is still in Los
- 13:22Angeles um the weekend before mhm so their press conference I believe was on
- 13:28Saturday the day day before Microsoft and Bethesda started up with E3 right
- 13:33their big Spotlight was on Star Wars Battlefront 2
- 13:38yes they've been very uh Playstation Centric on that uh for some reason but
- 13:44it's not an exclusive or anything like that so it's coming out on all platforms
- 13:48mhm it is a sequel to Star Wars Battlefront which was very popular for a
- 13:53little while and then unfortunately only a little while because it was quite fun
- 13:59but then it just kind of died down and it was exclusively multiplayer so there
- 14:05wasn't really anything you could do right if no one else was playing yeah
- 14:09there was a one point where I tried to play it I mean and this was a few months
- 14:14after uh and I just it took forever to find a game uh and I mean certain game
- 14:21modes continued for longer but but there was others that were just they just died
- 14:25like almost instantly people just lost interest so what everybody really wanted
- 14:30out of Battlefront 2 was a single player campaign MH and you got it so that's
- 14:37going to be awesome hopefully I mean they didn't show any of it so they I
- 14:42mean they showed like a little video that had short snippet of it but uh it's
- 14:47probably not going to be mindblowing as far as gameplay goes but um but it is
- 14:53Star Wars and it is Battlefront so yep you get to play as
- 14:59the heroes right that is fun what I find interesting about Battlefront 2 um is
- 15:04that it includes the prequels yes it does so I I wasn't sure because for a
- 15:11long time it seemed like Disney was kind of trying to avoid that being Canon yeah
- 15:18they're being selective with it I think for sure um and I mean there are people
- 15:24who like it and actually while we were watching the uh the trailer they show
- 15:29some of the the you know the clone troopers versus the battle droids on
- 15:33nabo and I was like you know what this is actually pretty cool like it's all
- 15:39it's all creative and it's interesting it's just that the film didn't have a
- 15:44very good plot so so I think maybe it can still be good including prequel
- 15:50stuff as long as we just try and forget the films right it does mean that there are
- 15:55new people to play as uh you can play as Darth Maul which is kind of cool yep and
- 16:00new ships to fly yes the uh the Droid ships and the uh what are the little the
- 16:06little Naboo Fighters i f what they the little yellow ones yeah they're pretty
- 16:09cool those things I always thought they were cool yeah and uh also Ray is
- 16:13playable uh Han is playable again and there's one other that escapes me Boba
- 16:19Fett yeah so they're the four initial ones uh and then there'll be more later
- 16:24apparently oh and all the DLC is going to be free this time which is a nice touch
- 16:31released ofc but had to it a l of people bought
- 16:35it not only did you have to pay for it it was kind of when it was dying down
- 16:40right so I didn't want to put money into something that I might not even get to
- 16:43play exactly the Rogue one DLC looked interesting but why would you buy it if
- 16:48no one's playing the game like it's a risk that hopefully they can avoid this
- 16:52time yep so that game comes out on November 17th this year mhm uh most
- 16:58games actually October and November are going to be a
- 17:01busy time in the video game industry um another game that they showed they
- 17:06didn't actually show any of the gameplay for this they just showed the trailer
- 17:09for Anthem yes um which is bioware's new game and it will come out in Fall of
- 17:152018 Microsoft actually went into this further in their press conference um but
- 17:21it did debut at EA yeah so they demoed a bit more at Microsoft and I guess so we
- 17:28can just discuss that when we talk about the Microsoft
- 17:31conference speaking of the Microsoft press conference something big was
- 17:36announced this year project Scorpio was unveiled yes the uh the official title
- 17:43of project Scorpio the xbonex X bonx
- 17:47Xbox x Xbox and x
- 17:51xoan x yes the Xbox One
- 17:56X it's clunky man that's real clunky what are they doing
- 18:01it is because they also they also have the Xbox One S yeah which sounds very
- 18:07similar to Xbox One X I just I don't know what why can't they just name
- 18:13things like in a in a intuitive manner like I don't know I don't know why they
- 18:18going to do this well even the Xbox One is a weird name because where do you go
- 18:21from there the Xbox 2 yeah well the Xbox 360 was a weird name the only one that
- 18:25made any sense was the Xbox and I mean even that didn't make that much sense
- 18:30and unless you know that it was like the direct Xbox right exactly when you know
- 18:33that you go oh but why right well they dropped the direct and just Nam at the
- 18:37Xbox which is fine like it's a good name
- 18:41yes um and it's a good logo yes but yeah
- 18:45the Xbox 360 I guess because I it did a
- 18:49little 360 from the yeah fine with the Xbox one yeah well that just confused
- 18:55everybody cuz I got an Xbox which one is it Xbox One the first Xbox no no the the
- 19:00Third Xbox the Xbox One well I it's kind of similar to what I feel like apple did
- 19:05with the iPads yeah I I think that's stupid as well so except now they just
- 19:09call them iPad and it's like fine yeah but how do you tell the difference
- 19:14between them oh they have a year model it's stupid yeah right well the Xbox One
- 19:20X was announced the price in the specs actually are what what were um showcased
- 19:27at this PR confidence it will be released November 7th of this
- 19:32year just in time to play all of the new games that are coming out yep it's backwards
- 19:38compatible um as far as Xbox yeah like all the way back original
- 19:44Xbox so that's cool yeah it is cool but
- 19:48then at the same time uh even when they announced that the Xbox one was
- 19:54backwards compatible I feel like I can't play the three 6 games anymore yeah some of them
- 20:00hold up some of them do not yeah there are games um original Xbox games that I
- 20:06have on my iPad now like nice to the Old Republic so yeah they don't hold up that
- 20:12well no and I think a lot of the better
- 20:15ones they have uh re republished yeah remastered yeah
- 20:21so but hey that's cool people wanted it people are very happy about it it's a
- 20:26it's a different type of upgrade this time as well it's not it's not a whole
- 20:31new console you don't have to buy whole new games it's kind of like a PC upgrade
- 20:35almost it just does better it's the same thing you used to it's just better now
- 20:40so this was to compete with the PlayStation 4
- 20:43Pro um both are 4K compatible mhm which
- 20:48is great if you've got a 4K TV yes or VR they can both do VR although they didn't
- 20:54mention VR at the Xbox One at all they didn't mention it which is weird but
- 21:00yeah unless you well I think it'll still have some benefit to a normal HD set in
- 21:06that you'll get probably better frame rates and you'll get they can probably
- 21:09put higher rise Textures in but I think to get the most out of it you're going
- 21:12to need a fancy big 4K TV and it looks real good yeah it does um it's got a
- 21:19better processor mhm uh better memory yeah faster hard drive even it's just
- 21:25yeah everything's everything's better um the price though is a little
- 21:31bit steep well see it is and then it
- 21:34isn't so it's going for $4.99 mhm mhm
- 21:38which is I if you were to upgrade a PC that would be about the price so I guess
- 21:45in that sense if you because my frame of reference obviously is Australia and
- 21:50it's going for I believe 6.49 in Australia that's huge well actually
- 21:57compared to the Xbox 360 it's not when the Xbox 360 came out it was
- 22:02$850 are you serious yeah cuz I went and bought one and so then when they
- 22:07announce so now whenever they announce the price of a new console and it's not
- 22:11$850 I'm like woohoo and now I get because I'm here in America it's only
- 22:16500 so I I mean I thought the price was good until everyone started saying Rich
- 22:20deep and I was like oh is it I didn't realize I think it is quite high it's
- 22:25especially for um just being an upgrade of of a console and not like a new generation of
- 22:31console well it kind of is a new generation I guess it just depends on if
- 22:36this is how it's going to be from now on
- 22:41like like maybe we maybe we're done with Generations kind of it's it's going to
- 22:46be more flowy than that now I would think I mean because it should have been
- 22:52cuz that's how PCS work do you think we'll ever get to a point where we can upgrade
- 22:59our own systems a console mhm well see CU then it would just be a PC so that's
- 23:05right a PC box PC box well like the steam boxes in that I guess yeah are the
- 23:11equivalent so yeah but then you fragment your your user base I don't think they
- 23:17would want to do that with a console because you got a game coming out and
- 23:19it's like well which one of the three Xboxes that we just released do you have
- 23:23like which processor have you got which one you know y you end up splintering it
- 23:27all paying the ass well with the price uh Phil Spencer Head of Xbox I read an
- 23:33article where he said there is actually no profit um with the system all of
- 23:39their profit is from the games I think it's been like that with
- 23:42most of them at first yeah because of the amount of time and Hardware that's
- 23:47going into it they don't actually make anything off of it I think the exception
- 23:51to that rule is Nintendo because they put inside a box and sell it to
- 23:56people for $300 yeah well that's people may be laughing but I'm I'm I'm serious
- 24:01like they're the only ones making any money off the consoles that's just cuz
- 24:05they're overpriced for what they are I love Nintendo but yeah I don't think
- 24:10that they are doing so well on the console war no I
- 24:15agree not only did Microsoft announce a new system they announced new avatars for
- 24:21that system yeah so there's like an overhaul to the yeah it's coming in Fall
- 24:272017 um the avatars actually look really awesome yeah look cool and are more
- 24:33inclusive um there are now uh people in wheelchairs amputees different colors um
- 24:39of skin of hair uh different clothing gender neutral clothing um there's a lot
- 24:45to it and they look pretty cool hopefully I can get a realistic beard
- 24:50cuz the the Beards looked awful before I know that's hopefully I can get my
- 24:55two-toned hair yeah I know which our minority groups are just not
- 25:00represented bright red hair please yeah my very specific shaped
- 25:06beard but no it actually um I joke but it actually does look like you can make
- 25:11it quite custom which could be a pain in the butt or it could be awesome so they
- 25:15didn't actually show much about how it works they just kind of showed the end
- 25:20product so it'll be interesting to see how that how it all works and if you're
- 25:24going to have to pay for all the clothes and stuff remember they you used to have to buy
- 25:28yeah yeah so I don't know we'll see I also wonder who is going to see these
- 25:34avatars because you don't anymore with
- 25:37the new UI yeah it's a good point so but I liked it I liked the old one where you
- 25:44could see you and your friends playing together yeah yeah hopefully they can
- 25:48find a way to to tie because on the one hand I'm playing video games I don't
- 25:52need to see them but then on the other hand if they look cool then it's nice to
- 25:56appreciate them so yeah and if you put into it yeah yeah I think right now the
- 26:01only way you can see them is to go into their profile yeah yeah that's right
- 26:06like to view their achievements which I don't often do no
- 26:11because I see Luke's and I just I'm like why do I bother mhm they've also
- 26:16announced uh more customization in the Design Lab M yeah like metallic paint
- 26:22and and other cool things yeah rubberized grips and more colors yeah
- 26:27cool uh it's also now available in more European countries which it wasn't
- 26:31before oh nice yeah we got a couple of custom controllers and they're nice they
- 26:36they look really good so maybe I have to play with the new lab and see if we can
- 26:40get some more ah you can make some really ugly things in it and it's great
- 26:46yeah nice what I would like to see though and I'm surprised that this isn't
- 26:52happening is the elite controllers in the Design Lab yeah that's interesting
- 26:59and also um somebody asked Major Nelson about why doesn't the Xbox One X come
- 27:04with an elite controller because apparently some people were expecting
- 27:07that there wasn't they just didn't show many anything to do with them like
- 27:12they're kind of just staying as they are I guess no and that is that is a first
- 27:17party controller isn't it the elite yeah yeah they're like it's an actual
- 27:21Microsoft product yeah right like I've I've never oh I mean I've used one like
- 27:27at a convention I've never I've I don't own one like I don't I don't yeah I'm
- 27:32not fussed about it to be honest but people tell me it's
- 27:36good you know I'm just surprised that it's not as it's not part of the Design
- 27:40Lab because there definitely are um alternate colors that you can get it in
- 27:43it's not just black right yeah well I guess the cost maybe is prohibitive yeah
- 27:49because well they're expensive anyway yeah the well the elites are they're
- 27:53like what 200 bucks and the The Design Lab controllers I think are around 100
- 27:57they're about 80 yeah so uh yeah it would probably be maybe they like people
- 28:03would be angry about the price if they did right well let's talk about the
- 28:08games cool we had mentioned Anthem before do you want to tell us a little
- 28:12bit about that game yeah they they used the anthem to kind of demo the uh the
- 28:19group the capabilities of the uh Xbox One X and Anthem yeah it's the new game
- 28:24by BioWare like the core BioWare team um the the ones that made the original Mass
- 28:29Effect games um it's a new thing it you're kind of uh
- 28:35sci-fi seems like explorers or it seems
- 28:40like Destiny uh mixed with the division basically a lot of people are making
- 28:45that comparison and that really is a pretty good way to describe it like you
- 28:49you put on a suit of armor that's kind of like an Iron
- 28:53Man thing where you can fly around and seemingly like destiny you fly out of
- 28:59the city and Into the Wilderness and uh I mean the plot wasn't
- 29:03really revealed but you you shoot enemies and it seems like it's a
- 29:08persistent world where there's you know your friends can join you it I didn't
- 29:12really it wasn't clear whether it's instanced or whether everybody's just
- 29:16you know in a shared World um it there seemed to be some kind of loot system
- 29:22like they kill a bunch of bad guys and then she picks up a you know an named
- 29:28rifle that she gets excited about it looks beautiful like graphically it
- 29:34looks beautiful I can see why they chose it to to show
- 29:37off um and it looks interesting I think it's something that I'm going to want to
- 29:42play yeah but uh well it looks like what
- 29:46they wanted Mass Effect 3 to be yeah yeah well and and like I said no story
- 29:53details were revealed really I we saw that there was there's like very
- 29:57impressive stor STM effects there's some kind of storm that
- 30:01comes uh while they're out adventuring and they have to tr kind of get out of
- 30:04the storm and that looks that really impressive uh oh you can go under water
- 30:08you can like you fly and then just splash into water and explore down there
- 30:12it's it's impressive definitely impressive so it just remains to be seen
- 30:19what the game is so to speak right well there were a lot like that that we we
- 30:25just saw a trailer but not the actual gamep playay right
- 30:28yeah um another one of those was life is
- 30:32strange yes uh before the storm mhm we didn't actually see any of the game play
- 30:38during the Microsoft press conference but we did make an appointment with
- 30:43Square Enix to see some um in their own little presentation yeah they kept it
- 30:50behind the scenes for some reason maybe they weren't ready to show the public I
- 30:54don't know yeah I think it's not it's not playable yet it's not finished
- 30:59they're still polishing it up I don't think they were ready to show the public
- 31:02yet so it was media only um we did get to play well as a
- 31:08group we got to play a little section of it um and then they showed us a few
- 31:13other um clips from later in the game where you see how your choices influence
- 31:18the story yeah um if you've played life is strange it is very similar to that y
- 31:24um if you haven't uh you follow in the
- 31:28original game you follow Max um who is a high school student and a photographer
- 31:34who finds that she has the ability to rewind time the game displays all of the
- 31:39ways in which your choices affect your future um how you speak to people if you
- 31:45help them out uh things like that just the way that you treat people and how
- 31:50that influences them in the future
- 31:54mhm the new game follows Chloe price one of the characters from um the original
- 32:00life of strange mhm and takes place three years before the events of the
- 32:05original now when I saw the trailer for this I questioned it because Chloe was
- 32:11in the original game how does she suddenly have a power that she just
- 32:14never mentioned to Max mhm well she
- 32:20doesn't yeah so I guess that people were speculating that she doesn't and she
- 32:26doesn't right the game was presented by the creative director who told us that
- 32:32based on feedback um he removed the powers and
- 32:37made it a more choice-based system yeah he said that people connected with the
- 32:44the uh the story and the characters yeah the kind of relatable real world story
- 32:49and and and reactions and things and so it it's just more about that than uh
- 32:55than Powers right I don't know how this will affect the
- 33:01game well clearly it'll be different because I I didn't play it I saw you
- 33:06playing a bit and you know you can you can rewind time and stuff and in this
- 33:10you can't so it's obviously going to change it quite a lot because I saw you
- 33:14selecting dialogue options and then rewinding to choose other dialogue
- 33:18options right and unlocking things because you learned something from a
- 33:21person and then you can go back in time that's right so you could you could talk
- 33:25to somebody you could get in a fight you could yell at them and then find out
- 33:27secrets and then rewind and then rewind and say oh hey I'm sorry about your mom
- 33:32and they're like oh I didn't even know you knew about her yeah well that's all
- 33:38not going to be in this I guess right right so I guess your choices have more
- 33:42impact in this game right because they're locked MH yeah yeah I mean the
- 33:48the presentation we saw reminded me a lot of The Telltale Games it did yeah um
- 33:52yeah like more straightforward than I than I have been led to believe that the
- 33:57original life of Stranges yeah I'm not sure I'm not sure how I like that but I
- 34:03mean I will definitely play it uh because I really liked the original yeah
- 34:09um it comes out August 31st of this year so very soon
- 34:14yeah but yeah I I still question that oh we'll see that was um that game
- 34:21is actually made by the company don't nod mhm um we saw another game by them
- 34:27this wasn't part of the Microsoft press conference but I do feel like it's worth
- 34:30mentioning yes yes very much so so we saw another
- 34:36presentation uh on the game
- 34:39vampire yes vampire is a sort of uh
- 34:44roleplaying uh action game where you play a vampire obviously someone who is
- 34:51just been transformed into a vampire and I it looks really really cool I'm like
- 34:58super impressed with so it's a similar game where your choices influence the
- 35:04world around you and there multiple possible endings but you it's like a
- 35:09role playing game but normally in a role playing game you gain experience by
- 35:13killing things uh and that is sort of similar in this except because you're a
- 35:18vampire you have to kill people and the world is populated by specific people
- 35:25there aren't just kind of random no-name enemy like people for you to kill
- 35:29everybody in the world has a purpose and
- 35:32a story and a family and a role and they
- 35:36all have different level different XP levels that you can get from them and
- 35:41you have to decide who you're going to kill because once you once you kill
- 35:47someone they are gone from the game and it will affect the world like it will
- 35:51change it will affect other people in the world it will affect areas it will
- 35:55affect any number of things and so you have to be very very careful about your
- 36:00decisions if you're going to if you're going to try and level up because you do
- 36:04need to level up to progress in the game and so the example they showed is you
- 36:08can uh follow uh a guy around you discover that maybe he's he's killed
- 36:13some people uh but you don't want to be rash because you want to know find out
- 36:18what's going on so you you speak to him you investigate further you you find out
- 36:23he's you know he's got some stuff going on with his mother and all that kind of
- 36:26stuff and then you find out all these clues about these various people and at
- 36:30the end of it you're left with kind of this family tree of people with varying
- 36:35levels of experience that you'll get from them like you can see like oh if
- 36:40one if one of them is very healthy you'll get more XP from them but they
- 36:43might also be very influential and killing them will could cause problems
- 36:49so uh it's it's fantastic like it seems
- 36:54really really cool and it's possible he said to create a situation where you
- 36:59ruin basically ruin everything like you screw up the whole you screw up
- 37:03everything for everybody and you can still win but you'll just get a really
- 37:08shitty ending yeah I'm really excited
- 37:10about it yep yeah me too is uh like I
- 37:15said don't nod made a great game with life is
- 37:18strange so I'm excited to play this one yeah and so as you kill people you drink
- 37:25their blood and then you can rest and use the XP that you gain from them to
- 37:28level up and purchase new abilities and that stuff's more straightforward like
- 37:32you you gain your abilities and that enables you to fight more powerful
- 37:35enemies and progress further in the game um but yeah just the whole aspect of of
- 37:40having to coexist with with these people and uh make judgments on them is yeah
- 37:47it's it's very cool I I I when he when he explained it I was like I can't
- 37:51believe no one's done this before it's so cool and what we saw was very early
- 37:55so none of the menu screens really finished yet right it was placeholder text and stuff
- 38:01but but I mean it was visually very good and uh it's very compelling but look out
- 38:08for that game yeah it's G to be good I'm sure of it yes uh one of the biggest
- 38:14games that Microsoft announced this year Microsoft and
- 38:19Ubisoft uh but this was at the Microsoft press conference was the new Assassin's
- 38:23Creed Origins yes so Ubisoft took a year off um I like how last year they actually
- 38:29had to announce that they weren't making any Assassin's Creed games and that was
- 38:33a big announcement in itself it's got they did make two peripherals but not a
- 38:38major game right mobile games and stuff yeah yeah the new one takes place in
- 38:45Egypt uh you play as Bak who is protecting Egypt from threats um it's a
- 38:52more open world game than the previous ones it uh has more RPG elements
- 38:58leveling and crafting yeah like loot like uh special like it seemed like he
- 39:04was picking up new weapons and stuff that's interesting yeah yep there is a
- 39:08bigger open world map and there are new things in this like underwater
- 39:13exploration uh in previous ones you could swim but this one actually has
- 39:16stuff like underw that you can explore
- 39:21and uh have fights and you have an eagle in this game uh called senu
- 39:27who is a scout uh it's kind of like the mechanic from Tom Clancy wildlands yeah
- 39:33it reminded me that of that a lot yeah with the Drone in a good way in a good
- 39:38oh yeah totally so I think there are less things to climb but you can send up
- 39:43your scout Eagle yeah to to pick up enemies and to plan your attacks so this
- 39:49could be kind of cool because I was kind of disenfranchised with Assassin's Creed
- 39:54yeah we've done the parkour stuff we've seen all that so to do something
- 39:57different I think is is smart it's yeah it looks cool I I'm I'm cautiously
- 40:03optimistic about it yeah and they did take a year off to do this yeah so
- 40:07hopefully they've put a lot of work into it hopefully people's faces won't
- 40:12disappear oh that in in all of the previews they are very well rendered
- 40:18yeah yeah it looks it I mean on the the
- 40:22the Xbox One X it looks beautiful so mhm um there are a couple more that I
- 40:28can kind of blow through a little bit yeah yeah they announced a lot like 40
- 40:31something games at Microsoft like and and I mean some some of them I'm sure
- 40:36will reveal themselves to be more interesting but a lot of them were just
- 40:40kind of quick trailers so uh we've got SE of Thieves by Rare which is an open
- 40:46world MMO with pirates I need to apologize to them because I think I said
- 40:51on one of the Recaps during the week that it didn't really test the power of
- 40:55the Xbox One X I was mistaken when I actually saw up close the game the water
- 41:02in Sea of Thieves looks amazing mhm so while it's
- 41:08cartoony uh and I guess I didn't appreciate the details uh when you when
- 41:13you see it up close it actually visually is is quite impressive it was also cool
- 41:18it was also cool to see a team of four Co-op this game um oh man it looks like
- 41:23so much fun this is your captain speaking uh can everybody get starboard
- 41:27for the yeah great it looks it looks like it's going to be fun yeah the only
- 41:32Pro only concern I have about it is uh I don't know how much game there is right
- 41:38that's my only concern because we've I we saw them yep you sail then you get to
- 41:42an island then you go down into a cave Sol a puzzle get the treasure come back
- 41:46up there's some skeletons that aren't very hard to kill and then you get back
- 41:48on the boat like all right what else happens we've got Middle Earth shadow of
- 41:54war that comes out October 10th 2017 um
- 41:58we've got State of Decay 2 coming out in
- 42:012018 yeah we've got the last night um by
- 42:07the company odd Tales which looks like a really awesome Blade runner-esque game
- 42:13yeah we didn't really see much gameplay but it looks amazing like visually
- 42:17amazing and we've got the game that Microsoft announced that I personally am
- 42:21most excited for um ory and the will of the Wisps yeah which is a followup to or
- 42:26and the Forest which is a metroidvania Style game um where you play as a little
- 42:32light being um this looks it's such an emotional game the first one and already
- 42:39from the trailer this one follows suit so very excited about that cool it's a
- 42:45great game but it is incredibly frustrating at times that's I mean that kind of wraps
- 42:50up Microsoft's press conference m in a way like I said they announced about 40
- 42:55games we can't go through them here but you can find lists of them online yep if
- 43:00we skipped something uh comment or messages podcast multiple.com let us
- 43:06know and we'll try and discuss it you know in in the near future just let us
- 43:10know yep or you can find all of these press conferences online actually um
- 43:15they're all about an hourish in length you know we we kind of just highlighted
- 43:21the ones that we think people would be excited to play and that we're excited
- 43:24to play the Bethesda conference followed the Microsoft conference on Sunday I
- 43:30really liked their introduction it was very cute the it's like very family
- 43:35Centric with all of the um the children of the developers and the writers
- 43:40talking about what their parents do yeah it was cute
- 43:44incorrectly was very cute yeah um and I think actually Bethesda killed it at
- 43:49this press conference um they created Bethesda land which was a um an
- 43:56amusement art with little sections from all their games um so there was a doom area which
- 44:03gave out cocktails in a little skull head glass um they had fall
- 44:08Outland which um had a big ferris
- 44:11wheel uh they had I think they had um
- 44:15another of the diner from Wolfenstein yeah yeah um yeah it looked very cool
- 44:22and their t-shirts were awesome and I want one Bethesda land ones yeah yeah they've
- 44:28CED a bit of criticism though for for their announcements well to be fair they
- 44:35didn't really announce much they did but it's all it's either sequels or it's the
- 44:41same game that they've announced several times in the past few years like how
- 44:45many times can they announce Skyrim oh we'll
- 44:50see we'll see every year untility like the game that just keeps getting
- 44:54announced yeah yeah now on Nintendo switch they did reann their games on VR
- 45:01yes and this caught my attention immediately because I knew that they
- 45:05were doing Fallout VR they the first thing that they announced was the Doom
- 45:09it's called Doom VFR mhm and uh as you
- 45:13listeners will probably know I loved the new Doom like so much it was my favorite
- 45:18game last year and so when I saw this I was like oh my God it's going to be so
- 45:22cool but then the video made me go wait a minute
- 45:27and I was a bit skeptical because it looked like in order to move you have to
- 45:33kind of point to a spot and then you teleport to it and you you do do that
- 45:39but apparently you can also move normally and Dash from side to side
- 45:44quickly and stuff so I don't know I'm still I'm cautiously optimistic about it
- 45:49but I'm that makes it sound like a like a VR point and click exactly so I'm
- 45:55still not sure about it how everyone's saying it it is the best of the Bethesda VR
- 46:01games so un fortunately we didn't get to play any um man the the lines were
- 46:06enormous was crazy yeah we get to watch some oh yeah yeah they were all in just
- 46:12glass booths so you could watch people making a fool of themselves yeah it's my
- 46:16favorite thing about conventions these days I don't really like playing VR at
- 46:21conventions because it totally like hear anyone around you you can't see anyone
- 46:26you kind of forget that you're in the middle of a convention
- 46:30hall yeah and I can't imagine like playing
- 46:34Doom that's a scary game well that's that's why I'm I'm wondering because the
- 46:39the whole point of Doom is that you're running around
- 46:43really fast and you have to keep moving and it's like it's very fast-paced and
- 46:46intense and then just I don't know looking at the way it
- 46:49was being controlled I I'm skeptical about it I'm I'm like I said people
- 46:55saying it's good and it's the better of them so I'm optimistic but I don't know
- 46:59it looks clunky to me I'm worried that it's not going to have the
- 47:03same I'm not going to like it as much as I did the original uh and then they they
- 47:08also showed a clip of Fallout in VR during the presentation and it it
- 47:13functions how you would expect you can look down at your pit boy and you can
- 47:18shoot stuff and then apparently you can walk by pushing forward and looking in
- 47:22the direction you want to go um and apparently it's fine except the controls
- 47:27are really really clunky and it comes out very soon so right so they're going
- 47:32to continue to be clunky that's the concern yeah okay apparently in
- 47:37particular when you try and use the pit boy or the menus because you know the
- 47:41pit boy you know you're not familiar before you don't like them you've played
- 47:44it before though right mhm you know the pit boy is like your inventory and your
- 47:48health and your map and all of that apparently that's all very very clunky it comes out in
- 47:54October uh and and doom VFR comes out this year but there's not a firm date
- 47:59set so we get them both this year then two they showed there was there was
- 48:04another one but that was shown during the Sony presentation so we'll wait for that I
- 48:10guess um they've also announced the creation Club we've had mods forever um
- 48:16in the world of Skyrim um only recently have they moved
- 48:21to consoles yes and now Bethesda has
- 48:24announced the creation Club m mhm yes
- 48:28the creation Club is apparently uh kind
- 48:32of curated collections of mods uh that you can purchase I believe you have to
- 48:38purchase them that will add content to the game and I guess the idea is that
- 48:42they will still be compatible with your save games like they'll guarantee that
- 48:48because sometimes when you still a mod it just everything up and and and
- 48:52it breaks the game they're going to guarantee that these won't uh and you'll
- 48:56save games will still work and you can still get achievements with these ones
- 48:59installed because on a console if you install a mod achievements are disabled
- 49:05right uh for that save game yeah but they didn't announce what they are they
- 49:09just said that that's that they're going to be curated collections
- 49:15MH um they also showcased morrowwind um The Elder Scrolls Online y that looks
- 49:21cool um that's kind of the reason I bought the Elder Scrolls online cuz I
- 49:25knew this was coming out so so I guess I got to buy
- 49:29it um and they had the evil within two
- 49:33yes this game is produced by Shinji Mami
- 49:39of Resident Evil Fame yes um he wrote the original Evil Within but I think he
- 49:46is uh not not as prominent on this one
- 49:50okay which I mean could be a good thing because The Evil Within was not a great
- 49:55game yes but the evil within two follows the
- 50:00story of Sebastian Castellanos from the first game mhm um he is searching for
- 50:06the daughter who he presumed dead at the end of The Evil Within right he once
- 50:12again has to re-enter stem to find her
- 50:16right stem is the collective mind thing
- 50:20from the first game uh which influences everyone's Minds right
- 50:27they had a an exhibit on an
- 50:32experience no gamep playay unfortunately actually not much to it other than just
- 50:36the trailer yeah this game comes out Friday the 13th of October this year so
- 50:41it's not that far in the future mhm um
- 50:45but yeah there it was one of those um like a horror maze but
- 50:51without much of it it had screens that had the game on them but I didn't
- 50:57realize that that was all it was and so I didn't really stop to look at them and
- 51:02then by the time we got to the end and I realized oh this is it I'd already
- 51:07passed them and then it was too late when you say by the time it sounds like
- 51:11like a considerable amount of time had passed it was just a couple of hallways
- 51:15yeah you can actually see we did do a full walk through um you can see it on
- 51:20our Instagram uh multiple orgasm but yeah you can see the whole
- 51:25thing yeah I was expecting a little bit more to that fortunately it was not a
- 51:29very long line that's true well comparatively it was still about half an
- 51:33hour yeah yeah um I think the longest line we did wait in though was for
- 51:39bethesda's biggest announcement was Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus yes uh
- 51:45this game comes out October 27th this year M and it follows the story of BJ
- 51:50Blitz blaskowitz blaskowitz yeah Blas BJ
- 51:54blaskowitz just call BJ yeah after World War II when the Nazis
- 52:01won yep and they took over America yeah this game's pretty fun we
- 52:07got to play about 20 minutes of it um I
- 52:12found I their choice of uh of demo
- 52:17curious so did I I don't know why they chose to let us play a section where the
- 52:22main character is in a wheelchair and fairly difficult to to maneuver mhm like
- 52:28and that that was the that was the extent of the game play like we didn't
- 52:31get to unless that's the whole game like yeah I don't know it was
- 52:37weird and it was also very difficult yeah they said that they're going to
- 52:42address that uh and that that's that was a complaint at the expo at because I I
- 52:47didn't play on like I think I played on not not normal but maybe one above it
- 52:54yeah I just went for the whatever the default is hurt me plenty it is yeah
- 52:57yeah there like five levels of difficulty so whatever like the center
- 53:01one was mhm is what I played on and it was tough yeah well he's just he's in a
- 53:05wheelchair it's hard to maneuver right like and and because when he's shooting
- 53:09he's only using one hand on the Wheel to to move so he's slowed down and I mean
- 53:14it all makes sense it's just very I don't know it's just tricky and a bit
- 53:17clunky and I don't know like I get it it's it's realistic but is it fun
- 53:24question mark that cuz when you look at the trailer for the game the game looks
- 53:29more like it plays like Doom he's running around he's shooting the not
- 53:33zombies Nazis and they're you know he very fast-paced and he's doing the glory
- 53:37kills on them and and it it looks more like doom and then when we played it
- 53:41it's very different that that particular level was very different Wolfenstein is
- 53:45actually a prequel to Doom yeah it's the same family it's a descendant of BJ that
- 53:50you play as in Doom yeah some of the demons are the same right it's fun fact
- 53:54for you yeah it sounds like I'm I'm ragging on it but I'm not I actually
- 53:58really enjoyed it I just thought it was a really curious section to show but
- 54:03then maybe that was the point right is that it was fairly unique in in sequence
- 54:07cuz you go end up on a conveyor belt and then there's section where you fall out
- 54:10of the wheelchair and so you can't to drag yourself back over to it yeah and
- 54:15so I don't know it was neat it was just like I said it just wasn't what I was
- 54:18expecting from the trailer that they had on the screens I was expecting to me
- 54:22running around shooting Nazis and I was instead I was careful rolling around
- 54:27shooting Nazis but Bethesda set up a really awesome booth for that yeah it
- 54:31was sick which looks like Papa Joe's Diner yeah and you got a milkshake it
- 54:34was really awesome they were handing out strawberry milkshakes it was good it was
- 54:38fun I I had a good time definitely it was worth waiting in line for I think
- 54:42yeah yeah one of the few that was I think MH no offense to the other vendors
- 54:46it's just that was a very long wait so you had to do something special to make
- 54:49it worthwhile that's right if it was just to play a game that is coming out
- 54:52in four months yeah I I don't know I can just stand behind people and watch them
- 54:57play it Y and then move on to the next one but this this was more of an
- 55:01experience and that was cool yeah well we can move on to Ubisoft they've got
- 55:06the crew to they've got that's a game
- 55:09the highly anticipated Just Dance 2018 we've got another pirate game Skull
- 55:16and Bones yeah that looks really pretty but then I like when it first came on I
- 55:21was like oh wow that looks cool and then I don't know as they explained it I was
- 55:24like oh okay it's not for me I'm not saying it's not going to be a
- 55:27good game it's just not for me it's a multiplayer uh kind of Co-op thing
- 55:34similar to um
- 55:38to similar to Sea of Thieves except more serious it's not it's not
- 55:45cartoony and it it seems like more
- 55:49strategy and battle Centric than individual goofy fun Centric I'm sure
- 55:55I'm sure it'll be good just not for me right we've also got starlink battle for
- 55:59Atlas which is a figurine collectible cashing in on the Amigo Amigo what Amigo
- 56:06hey amigo cashing in on amiibos uh I don't
- 56:12see that this is going to take off it's weird right like such a weird thing to
- 56:17announce after Disney just closed down their whole Studio CU Infinity
- 56:21failed right it's another like figurine collectible you build ships and then can
- 56:27play them in the game yeah you like Bolt the weapons onto the ship like you've
- 56:31got a physical toy of a ship and you can change the weapons on it and then it
- 56:34changes in the game to match I mean that's cool but it's not that cool they
- 56:39didn't really convince me that it was anything no I don't think they tried too
- 56:42hard either no I was like oh here's a thing I was like ah cool here's a new
- 56:46figurine thing sorry sorry if like somebody was really proud of that sorry
- 56:51to your parents wallets crushing their dreams make someone else that be soft
- 56:55cry speaking of crushing someone's dreams my favorite moment of E3 this
- 57:01year he was happy he wasn't crushed adorable he was overwhelmed with joy
- 57:06Mario and Rabbids Kingdom battle was announced at the Ubisoft press
- 57:10conference and it's something that people tore into the Rabbids are like
- 57:16the minions yeah um from Rayman yeah who
- 57:21got popular have their own franchise from Rayman or from um I thought you me
- 57:25the minions from what's that Despicable Me yeah yeah I mean Rabbids are from
- 57:30Rayman oh but they they are the equivalent of the minions from dis wi
- 57:35yeah these irritating Little Creatures you can't speak and communicate and
- 57:40screams yep and have now infiltrated
- 57:43Mario I was like what the hell is this and why does it exist and then when they
- 57:49showed the gameplay I was like oh it's like XCOM oh it looks really fun but
- 57:55then still why does this exist right like why isn't it just a Mario game well
- 58:00a lot of people took issue with this so weird and then um I think it it was
- 58:06somebody on Twitter who said before you all tear into this game have a look at
- 58:12the developer who was crying during the press conference because he's so proud
- 58:17of what he's created he's so adorable he's adorable his name is deid soani
- 58:22from Ubisoft Milan he was a fanboy
- 58:26of mamoto a that's why of course way way
- 58:31back he had waited outside his hotel or something like that to meet him and
- 58:36wanted to ask for his autograph and now he was got a chance to present his game
- 58:41idea to him we got name dropped as well by m Mur mention exactly and it's just
- 58:47it's the cutest moment just please like
- 58:50just find this video he's adorable adorable and look I think this game
- 58:57looks pretty fun I it's I don't know why it exists it's weird I think maybe it's
- 59:01just that Nintendo wouldn't really make a game like this and so like it took
- 59:06Ubisoft to to make it happen it's weird whatever it looks cool right I don't
- 59:12have a switch I'm probably not going to get one so we retweeted a tweet from him
- 59:18where he he got back home to Italy and the Ubisoft team gave him a shirt with a
- 59:23picture of him crying on it and the hasht don't cry Ubisoft man yeah so cute
- 59:29so good I love this guy I want to play this game just for this guy because it's
- 59:34so adorable you have to buy a switch then so leani buy me a
- 59:39switch say nice things about your game if you well actually no let's not set a
- 59:43precedent for that yep when our opinions are not for sale we've also got Far Cry
- 59:485 yeah which comes out February 27th 2018 yeah this looks cool I got kind of
- 59:53bored with Far Cry but this uh this one looks interesting and for the same
- 59:58reasons that some people don't like it I like it it's it's set in a fictional
- 1:00:02Montana town where a radical preacher named Joseph seed has formed doomsday
- 1:00:08cult and you play as the main protagonist with some guns for hire y um
- 1:00:14that try to take him down I'm a bit confused as to why you're trapped in a
- 1:00:20town in Montana like it it's I mean they say that you can't leave at least they
- 1:00:24said in the presentation I don't know what the PL is I don't know how they
- 1:00:26handle that in the plot but you mean you got a guy with a plane helping you right
- 1:00:32maybe it's because of the cult yeah I I mean maybe it's just because you can't
- 1:00:35leave because you've got to complete the mission which is fine it just I'm I was
- 1:00:39just confused about why can't he physically leave I don't know but it
- 1:00:42does look pretty cool um good yeah it's
- 1:00:46a pretty good concept I think which a lot of people don't think because it's
- 1:00:52caught a lot of FL for Americans being the terrorists yeah people are upset
- 1:00:56because they're like well our own people wouldn't do that well they do do that
- 1:01:00and they have done that yeah that's why they made a game about it yep it's it's
- 1:01:04based on the real world events that happen sometimes yeah and the developers
- 1:01:10of this game actually researched quite heavily and met with cult experts um
- 1:01:16cult cult Sports uh to make sure that they got everything right that there
- 1:01:21would be like the main guy who's very relatable very very personable but also
- 1:01:27kind of psychotic charismatic psych yeah and then like H the other people that
- 1:01:32work for him so they tried to make sure that they got all of that correct I hope
- 1:01:37he's like a Charlie Manson type that would be
- 1:01:42entertaining um I've actually I've read some articles about
- 1:01:47the Jonestown Jonestown jonesb which one Jonestown the Kool-Aid yeah was that
- 1:01:54Jonestown yeah yeah about the Jonestown cult and it sounds very similar to that
- 1:02:00um Jim Jones it seems like Joseph seed
- 1:02:04is is a a Jim Jones character where he is like a great guy and really nice and
- 1:02:10very welcoming but kind of crazy crazy
- 1:02:16yeah Jonestown if you don't know like Matt said drink the Kool-Aid like he
- 1:02:20would call over the loudspeaker like they're coming to attack us everybody
- 1:02:23quickly we have to all like kill our elv before they get us cuz they will torture
- 1:02:28us and they'll do all his horrible things and would do fake outs like he
- 1:02:32would give them all cyi laced Kool-Aid which they would be surprised they
- 1:02:37didn't die and then he'd say no I got you but now I know that you're on my
- 1:02:40side so we're all good until one day he actually did that and
- 1:02:44killed like almost a thousand people kids included crazy mother yeah yeah it
- 1:02:51happens unfortunately it does so I guess I don't really see why people are upset
- 1:02:58about this game uh I do and I don't I guess they just don't want to think
- 1:03:01about it they would you know you play video games to escape into a you know
- 1:03:05and the other thing too the other complaint I've heard is you know Far Cry
- 1:03:09has been set in the jungle traditionally but I don't know I'm I'm less concerned
- 1:03:14about that I think the concept is still sound it's like an open world where you
- 1:03:19go around and you've got you know kind of these bad guys to tackle it's I I
- 1:03:24don't see that it has to be in a jungle specifically right I think it looks good
- 1:03:28and uh yeah I'm I'm Keen to play it oh we've also got Beyond Good and Evil 2
- 1:03:32which is a prequel to The 2003 game the graphics on this look amazing well see
- 1:03:38it was a kind of pre-rendered thing which is disappointing because it means
- 1:03:42is that what the game's going to look like right right or because you know
- 1:03:46they do this to us these game developers they do this they make a movie and then
- 1:03:51you don't actually get to play the movie exactly I haven't played the first one I
- 1:03:56have to admit neither have I it's a game that everybody keeps talking about how
- 1:04:01it's one of their favorite games and when I say I haven't played it they're
- 1:04:04like and then I'm I'm ashamed but I still haven't still haven't gotten
- 1:04:08around to it so I might have to do that because we have the uh remastered
- 1:04:12version I think on the Xbox so I'll have to do that and then we have my most
- 1:04:18anticipated Game of the Year y uh this game was actually delayed it should have
- 1:04:23been out already but is now coming out in October South Park the fractured but
- 1:04:29ho so good it looks The Stick of Truth Good
- 1:04:34was such a great game and this game is going to be great I don't even like the
- 1:04:39Final Fantasy style games and I liked stick of truth because it was just funny
- 1:04:43enough and and this is even this is different it's like the combat's
- 1:04:46different like it's a god it just looks
- 1:04:50so funny and I just can't wait to play I I didn't even care if the game play
- 1:04:56sucks like it's going to be good anyway it's an interactive episode of South
- 1:05:00Park yeah it's going to be good but hopefully the gameplay will be good
- 1:05:03they've also announced phone Destroyer which is coming out uh sometime in 2017
- 1:05:08but they haven't announced when it looks like a competitor to Hearthstone and uh
- 1:05:14Elder Scrolls Legends actually they demoed Elder Scrolls Legend at Bethesda
- 1:05:19did I don't know why it's already out but uh it looks like a competitor to
- 1:05:22those yeah it's a card collection game PVP except it's probably a million times
- 1:05:28funnier than the others oh yes almost certainly that was a that was a good
- 1:05:33surprise because I've been excited about the fractured butth hole for a while and
- 1:05:38now we get two yeah in one year excellent so that kind of wraps it up
- 1:05:43for the Ubisoft panel we've got Sony now which I have to say I don't really know
- 1:05:50much about I've never been I've never been uh on the PlayStation side of the
- 1:05:54console war no I've been Microsoft I've had I had an original PlayStation I had
- 1:06:00PlayStation 2 I bought a PlayStation 3 fairly late on to play some of the
- 1:06:05exclusives um but I've yeah no my primary console for a long time has been
- 1:06:10an Xbox so uh I I don't know that I some
- 1:06:17of these games look good but none of them look good enough for me to buy
- 1:06:21another console right uh except for one uh and so maybe we just move through
- 1:06:25them and I mean people probably probably know what I'm going to say if they
- 1:06:29listen to our show but but um uh what don't we work our way through
- 1:06:34them and then I'll out we've got Call of Duty World War II which I think is kind
- 1:06:39of cool um because I liked the original Call of Duty 1 and two which were set
- 1:06:44during World War II yeah and then when it became these fictional Wars I just
- 1:06:48wasn't quite as into that but I do get it we do have plenty of real life war
- 1:06:55games yeah probably a solid shooter I just I don't really care about it that much
- 1:07:00we've also got God of War which takes katos into Norse mythology rather than
- 1:07:04the Greek that it was previously in he killed all those Gods like a soft reboot
- 1:07:09for the the franchise yeah uh I mean it looks beautiful I played one and I
- 1:07:14played a bit of two and I liked them but I didn't finish them so I don't know
- 1:07:19this looks good I don't know that I would you know drop the money on a new
- 1:07:22console for it something that I thought was cool is that is composed by bear
- 1:07:26mccre oh yeah who did the music for Battle Star Galactica which I did not
- 1:07:30like but I do like his music yeah he's a quality composer he's real good he does
- 1:07:35uh Agents of Shield and he does uh The Walking Dead and a bunch of other stuff
- 1:07:40he's very good we've got Final Fantasy storm blood yes they actually had a
- 1:07:44blood donation van there so that was neat yeah it was cool um Final Fantasy
- 1:07:5015 Monsters of the deep yeah they did a whole segment on VR stuff this is one of
- 1:07:55the VR games this looks weird as hell yeah totally I don't I don't understand
- 1:08:00I could just go fishing I don't need to go VR fishing in case in case you
- 1:08:05haven't seen this it's like it's the whatever the Final Fantasy game was it
- 1:08:0915 right with the it's got you know those guys the gothy looking dudes and
- 1:08:13then you go fishing with them and it's a fishing game and someone told me it's
- 1:08:18fun like to my face someone said no no no I know it looks stupid but it's
- 1:08:21actually fun so I mean all right I'm not going to call him a liar
- 1:08:26so apparently it's fun I just I looked I
- 1:08:30was like what the hell is that like all right cool it's a fishing
- 1:08:37game um and then we've got Detroit become human which is David Cage's new
- 1:08:41game from Quantic dream it is inspired by uh The Singularity is near by Ray
- 1:08:48cwell where the machines take like
- 1:08:51become human right um and set in Detroit which was chosen because of the economic
- 1:08:58decline that the area faced so there are some places that are really nice and
- 1:09:01then some that are just abandon which we saw when we visited Detroit last year
- 1:09:06yeah it's amazing it's like bizar the the transitions between the two areas so
- 1:09:12sudden this game went from like holy this looks great to I don't know if
- 1:09:18I like the gameplay to oh it's a David cage game yeah it was like a roller
- 1:09:22coaster I was like ooh ooh ooh ooh uh uh when I saw like how that section of the
- 1:09:28game was played I was like oh no he's just like it's just like Choose Your Own
- 1:09:33Adventure right and then as and then it was like oh Quantic dream oh okay so
- 1:09:38there probably is more to it hopefully just yeah
- 1:09:42so uh yeah I don't know it'll because it's Quantic dream it's probably going
- 1:09:46to be a PlayStation exclusive that one might have to be a skip unless I buy
- 1:09:50another PS4 at some point Quantic dream if you don't know is the uh company that
- 1:09:54made heavy rain and Beyond Two Souls yes and and uh fahrenheit as well which is a
- 1:10:00classic weird game they do they're cool games very story-driven games with odd
- 1:10:05interesting stories yeah and then I don't I don't know if this was actually
- 1:10:09showcased at the Sony press conference
- 1:10:13but it is a Sony and PC exclusive um it
- 1:10:17is Cliff linsky's new game boss key Studios law Breakers which we actually
- 1:10:23got to play it's out August 8th it's kind of like I think it I mean it's very very
- 1:10:29similar to Unreal Tournament yeah people comparing it to OverWatch I've only
- 1:10:34played a little bit of OverWatch uh I don't think it is to be honest I don't
- 1:10:37think it's that similar to OverWatch no and he actually said OverWatch this is
- 1:10:42way better I don't yeah I don't think so at all it's I don't know it's super
- 1:10:46fastpaced it's kind of like uh the what we played was the uh was capture the
- 1:10:51ball or something capture the flag with the ball yeah yeah any I mean it was fun
- 1:10:55I had a lot of fun with it yeah I'm terrible at it and I have no idea how to
- 1:10:59use a PlayStation controller and it actually took me about 3 minutes just to
- 1:11:03figure out how to put the thing in invert but once I did and get the got
- 1:11:07the hang of it it was better yeah it was a fun game I um if it was on Xbox I'd
- 1:11:13probably I'd probably play it so plus I love Cliffy B yeah Cliffy B is cool he's
- 1:11:19cool dude he makes cool games mhm so he made the Gears of War Games yep Jazz
- 1:11:24Jack rabbit unreal the original unreal yep yeah which is why I think this is so
- 1:11:29much like it he used to wear really cool shiny suits sorry Cliffy if you're listening
- 1:11:34to this we love you I remember you from something awful smarty Man game
- 1:11:40developer Survivor Island that's an obscure reference if any of our
- 1:11:43listeners know what that is um they showed some other cool stuff uh in VR uh
- 1:11:50like Skyrim they showed in VR but apparently it's not very good that the
- 1:11:55other the Bethesda one that that got announced and it made me go ooh ooh ooh
- 1:11:58but apparently it's yeah it's nowhere near complete it's clunky it doesn't
- 1:12:02look very good on the VR headset like it does doesn't hold up um and it was
- 1:12:08really disappointing for those who got to play it so that's a shame did they
- 1:12:12announce that during Sony uh yeah they showed it as part of
- 1:12:15the VR set of the Sony presentation uh there was one VR thing
- 1:12:22that Sony announced that looked cool it was called the impatient uh it's where
- 1:12:25you're you're a me mental Asylum patient who's with amnesia and you get checked
- 1:12:31in and you have to figure out what's going on and why you're there uh and
- 1:12:34apparently it is a prequel to the game until dawn that everyone freaking loved
- 1:12:38that also I didn't get to play because it was PS exclusive um so I'm sure that's exciting
- 1:12:44for people who who played until dawn uh then asked the new
- 1:12:49Uncharted that uh that's not a Nathan Drake game it's a it's a it's a new one
- 1:12:55with a lady protagonist uh it looked cool L like Uncharted fair enough it's kind of like
- 1:13:00Tomb Raider yeah more like Tomb Raider than Uncharted did before and I mean
- 1:13:06that's what they're basically the same game Uncharted with a lady is Tomb
- 1:13:09Raider so yeah yep fair enough uh the remas of Shadow of the Colossus um and
- 1:13:15the oh Destiny 2 which will excite uh Dary listen to Dary he's going to be
- 1:13:21super into Destiny 2 I like Destiny it's fun so um
- 1:13:25just need to look interesting I guess more the same but the game that I'm
- 1:13:31actually interested in on PS4 Spiderman when they showed that I was
- 1:13:36like a I'm GNA have to buy one because it looks like
- 1:13:41Arkham Knight with Spider-Man basically
- 1:13:45to me it looks really good so um yeah
- 1:13:51hopefully hopefully I'll get released on the platforms probably not though cuz it
- 1:13:55will be a good seller I think for the PlayStation yeah but yeah it looks the controls look
- 1:14:02really cool and uh the you know the his
- 1:14:06Spider-Man uh related activities seemed really authentic and captured the
- 1:14:11essence of the character really well from from the demo they showed got me
- 1:14:14really excited because the Spider-Man games traditionally have been a bit
- 1:14:19so this one looks like a really good one I I played the old ones any anyway
- 1:14:26they were just not very good I led them Nintendo had the last press
- 1:14:32conference of the event I think their biggest announcement they showed
- 1:14:38absolutely nothing for and that was Metroid 4 yeah they just made everybody
- 1:14:44freak out and then just showed us a picture of the logo yep that would make
- 1:14:47me want to buy a switch Metroid for I have to see the game cuz you never know
- 1:14:52the Metroid for the um 3DS was not great oh was it the 3DS or the DS actually I
- 1:14:58think of the DS maybe but uh yeah so I don't know wait and see well we know
- 1:15:03literally nothing about it exactly other than the name and that it's coming mhm
- 1:15:09we know that there is a new Pokemon tournament Deluxe game coming out uh
- 1:15:15which will be followed by another Pokemon core RPG yeah for the switch
- 1:15:20that seemed like inevitable well people thought they were going to announce that
- 1:15:24the other week as part of the Nintendo director sorry not the Pokémon company I
- 1:15:28think does their own announcements and people thought they were going to
- 1:15:32announce switch game freak right they thought they were going to announce one
- 1:15:36for switch but they didn't they announced uh stuff about a new 3DS game
- 1:15:42only and so everyone's kind of like freaking out like what are they doing
- 1:15:46why isn't there a switch game and so I this kind of felt like throwing the fans
- 1:15:49a bone and saying yeah we're making one it's just we have literally nothing to show you
- 1:15:55um an interesting point uh Nintendo doesn't actually do a press conference
- 1:15:59anymore right um I think last year uh and from then on they've decided that
- 1:16:05it's they'd prefer to do a pre-recorded one yeah Nintendo Direct guess it saves
- 1:16:11a huge amount of money y I'm sure it does yeah just and they actually did
- 1:16:17this uh the Nintendo press conference was the first day of e3 so it was only
- 1:16:21like an hour or two before it that we were all watching this only like half an
- 1:16:26hour long
- 1:16:28conference um they showed Splatoon 2 yes
- 1:16:34people love that game yeah the the paintball shooter it looks cool I have
- 1:16:38to check it out it's coming out in July July 21st of this year uh two games for
- 1:16:452018 Kirby and Yoshi I like how they don't have a full
- 1:16:50name it's just Kirby it's it's kind of like we promise when making games for
- 1:16:55the switch we promise that's right yeah don't give up on it we we promise
- 1:16:59there's games coming uh we've got Fire Emblem Warriors mhm yeah fire emblem's
- 1:17:05fun it's like a turn-based combat game like kind of like a simpler version of
- 1:17:11the kind of XCOM thing we were talking about Fire Emblem games are good and
- 1:17:14they're very popular there's a mobile one actually on on iPhone I think at the
- 1:17:18moment that's really popular mhm uh we've got some DLC for breath of the
- 1:17:22wild the Zelda game um have they ever had DLC for a Zelda game before no yeah
- 1:17:28I didn't think so so should be interesting to see how they handle it no
- 1:17:33I mean we've had Zelda DLC for other games right like uh Mario Kart um right
- 1:17:40right no I don't think that there has ever been DLC for a Zelda game yeah they
- 1:17:45haven't done well Nintendo hasn't done a huge amount of DLC before so right as far as I'm
- 1:17:50aware podcast multi nasm.com telling you I'm wrong they also o announced that
- 1:17:55there will be if you um if you scan your amiibos into your switch while playing
- 1:18:01Skyrim you get some Legends of Zelda stuff I was really excited about Skyrim
- 1:18:06on the switch but then when we were watching the presentation and I saw the
- 1:18:11you know the the stuff with the Zelda add-on you know the Master Sword and the
- 1:18:16shield and and all that all that the tunic yeah and I was paying attention to
- 1:18:20the game I don't know whether it was just the stream was poor quality or what
- 1:18:25but it it occurred to me that the switch is
- 1:18:29about as far as I'm aware about the the
- 1:18:33power of an Xbox 360 and Skyrim on the
- 1:18:37Xbox 360 looks terrible it didn't look terrible it wasn't it's certainly not
- 1:18:42the you know the the what do they call it the the special edition that we get
- 1:18:46on the Xbox one it's not going to have the mods and all that stuff I would
- 1:18:50think on on the switch so I kind of had this reality check that they probably
- 1:18:54didn't intend like it had the reverse effect instead
- 1:18:57of making me excited it actually made me go wait a minute this is probably a
- 1:19:02shitty version of a game I already have that maybe I don't want anymore yeah so
- 1:19:07remains to be seen I think maybe I just maybe I just want to play Skyrim on my Xbox or my
- 1:19:14PC um well Nintendo's biggest announcement is Super Mario Odyssey mhm
- 1:19:20that comes out October 27th 2017 where you play is Mario it's
- 1:19:25another game with exploration based levels like Mario 64 was which is
- 1:19:30awesome yeah where you try to rescue Peach from Bowser who is intending to
- 1:19:36marry her people are going to be complaining about the plot I'm sure well people are
- 1:19:42always complaining there is a new feature um two new features actually one
- 1:19:47is local two player that's cool yep really cool I wish that Mario 64 had
- 1:19:54that and the other new feature is Cappy yeah uh Mario's hat who can be the soul
- 1:20:00stealing hat yes a soul stealing hat which can be thrown onto people or
- 1:20:05objects to possess them for a short time mhm a lot of the levels were based on
- 1:20:10real world places like uh New York City for instance in the game is new donk
- 1:20:15city which Nintendo built not the best name I know but
- 1:20:21Nintendo built new do city um at E3 and there was a huge display really really
- 1:20:27cool have some pictures up so you can check it out on our Instagram at
- 1:20:31multiple nerdgasm um it was very cool yeah it was it was a fun setup it's very
- 1:20:38strange to watch this game where the little cartoon Mario is running around
- 1:20:42in what is essentially real life New York City with people in business suits
- 1:20:48yeah it's s really jarring not jarring it's just it looks weird like to have
- 1:20:53the I mean cuz cuz they're not even super realistic looking people but
- 1:20:56they're like normalized and they've got suits and you know 50 style suits and
- 1:21:02and fedors and stuff on it looks
- 1:21:06weird but uh but I mean the game looks fun so it does looks very cool and they
- 1:21:12have announced some new amiibos to accompany that game and some others um
- 1:21:18there is another there's a new um
- 1:21:21Wedding Peach Mario and Bowser uh they've also announced some breath of
- 1:21:28the wild amiibos of course and some
- 1:21:31Metroid ones oh God the Metroid the met
- 1:21:35the actual Metroid one is so cool I will post a picture of it it looks really
- 1:21:40really awesome that's so cool I'm G to have to buy it um I don't know the
- 1:21:44release date of those but I believe it's this year later this
- 1:21:49year delicious that kind of does it for the press conferences some companies
- 1:21:55didn't have a press conference the size of the others a you know a lot of stuff
- 1:21:59got announced kind of behind the scenes and just online during E3 so and some
- 1:22:04were there but didn't have press conferences they just showed their games
- 1:22:08at some of the other pressers like say Activision showed uh Call of Duty and
- 1:22:13Destiny at the Sony one mhm yeah Capcom was there yep there was a the new Call
- 1:22:19Of cthulu game um which was Focus had uh I think they had some press stuff there
- 1:22:24for it um but it wasn't on display but they released a trailer during E3 which
- 1:22:28you should definitely check out it's the new Cola cthulu game looks awesome uh
- 1:22:32and there's probably a ton of stuff that we missed because like we said it's
- 1:22:35actually pretty tough keeping on top of it all while you're there compared to to
- 1:22:41and even at home I'm sure it's tough but the you know phone reception is not
- 1:22:45great in the convention hall so if something gets announced like we didn't
- 1:22:49know about it until later that's right you kind of need somebody there and
- 1:22:53somebody who was at home following along with it exactly but uh it wasn't just
- 1:22:58games and consoles there were there were some vendors and other things there too
- 1:23:03there were like we said this is the first year that they had vendors um so
- 1:23:08there were some that were just selling video game stuff like t-shirts and
- 1:23:13whatever but then there were also some which they have had in previous years
- 1:23:17because there weren't vendors as such they were more trying to Market their
- 1:23:21brand um to Distributors yeah people trying to sell stuff to stores to sell
- 1:23:28kind of thing like like for Game Spot to stock and that kind of thing GameStop to
- 1:23:34to stock not Gamespot but uh one thing that we saw uh that actually really
- 1:23:39appealed to us was these wall mounts from
- 1:23:44hideit company's called hideit mounts and uh and these things are really cool
- 1:23:49well if you have a TV mounted High very very often I've seen the the cables
- 1:23:54hanging and there's nowhere to put your consoles if you're a gamer you just have
- 1:23:59a bunch of C like HDMI cables and power cables running down the wall right looks
- 1:24:03awful so they make these uh wall brackets that you can screw up just
- 1:24:10behind the TV which will slide your console into it um and then you can hide
- 1:24:15all the cables it's really beautiful yeah and they were very nice and they
- 1:24:18gave us a couple of brackets for our controllers yeah I mean check them out
- 1:24:24go to hide at mounts.com uh you can you can like you can mount them behind the
- 1:24:28TV you can mount them to the side uh and they make them individually for each
- 1:24:32console so you get like a switch specific one or a Xbox specific One MH
- 1:24:37um I actually had trouble at like from a distance figuring out where how they
- 1:24:42were held up because they're they fit so nicely to the to the base of the console
- 1:24:48but like if you don't screw the console to the wall as such you screw the mount
- 1:24:52to the wall and the console sits on it you can still take it out and switch
- 1:24:56cables and do all that stuff with it um the console itself isn't stuck um but
- 1:25:01they are very uh well-designed and kind of invisible so yeah that's hide at
- 1:25:06mounts.com check them out really cool uh another game company that we spent some
- 1:25:12time with uh who didn't have they didn't do a press conference or anything like
- 1:25:16that and they actually weren't even showing any games um they they had meet
- 1:25:21and greet kind of things and and presentations where you could go and
- 1:25:24kind of learn more about the company and that was Telltale mhm who who obviously
- 1:25:29made The Walking Dead games uh you know the Fable Wolf Among Us the new
- 1:25:35Guardians of the Galaxy game uh a lot of those you know story based games and we
- 1:25:41found them they were in off the the main Concourse in a in a smaller area um but
- 1:25:47they had throughout the day you could go and meet the various teams who work
- 1:25:51there they had like you know the engineers who do the the game
- 1:25:55mechanics itself they had the writers and the creative teams and they had like
- 1:26:00General meet and greets where you could meet the people and then they also had
- 1:26:04uh like Recruiters in that there because they're looking for new people um so
- 1:26:08that was really cool and interesting and they're really lovely lovely people yeah
- 1:26:14and we saw really good talk about storytelling and how how they make their
- 1:26:20games like they don't want to give you a clear option and then some that you know
- 1:26:25are really bad are like very good for your character they want to give you
- 1:26:29some morally ambiguous things so you really have to make a decision and it's
- 1:26:32not a decision between like you know a a good and a bad thing like in Mass Effect
- 1:26:39it's weight is very gray it's it's yeah it's all a very gray area that you're
- 1:26:44like well neither of them are good things I just yeah and we played
- 1:26:47Dungeons and Dragons in IDM uh for for a number of games and I found it really
- 1:26:52interesting um the way there were talking about how if you ideally when
- 1:26:57the player is playing they're making choices and if it's if it's realistic
- 1:27:03really like in real life you make choices and it's not super obvious that
- 1:27:07you know the choice is going to be a big drastic one but but in the game when the
- 1:27:12people play the games they kind of complain oh it didn't feel like my
- 1:27:16choices mattered if it's too transparent but which was I don't know it seemed
- 1:27:20weird to me because if you're doing it well the player shouldn't notice they
- 1:27:26just will get a different they'll just get the ending that's
- 1:27:28appropriate but they kind of have to do this Balancing Act where on the one hand
- 1:27:34the player needs to be making the choices and you want it to feel natural
- 1:27:37but on the other hand they want the player wants feedback so that they're
- 1:27:41aware that they could have done something different you know what I mean
- 1:27:44yeah yeah it was it was interesting to hear how they how they handle that stuff
- 1:27:48and and make sure the player gets feedback to so that they know that
- 1:27:52they're making decisions and that they are effective the world was really cool
- 1:27:56yeah and they're lovely people um they were very generous with their time it
- 1:28:00was stupid stupid questions about all that stuff and uh yeah I know we went
- 1:28:06back a few times made some friends yeah it was a cool Booth was a little booth
- 1:28:11like partitioned off from everything else with a little door so it almost
- 1:28:14looked like you weren't meant to be in there yeah had a very uh behind the
- 1:28:18scenes kind of vibe was cool so that's all I guess that's all the specifics
- 1:28:23that we wanted to mention uh overall I got to say that the show
- 1:28:27floor was pretty impressive certain areas were were very impressive there
- 1:28:31were a lot of displays that must have cost a lot of money um yeah I tried to
- 1:28:36find actually how much it costs um a company to display
- 1:28:41there not only that but just to build all the stuff like yeah exactly so like
- 1:28:46how much E3 costs a company right right got it's it's difficult to find
- 1:28:50obviously because they're all different sized like the Microsoft Booth was huge
- 1:28:55and then like the Capcom Booth was not quite as big but it does cost them
- 1:29:00something like $1,000 a day just for Internet um like it costs them buy the
- 1:29:06space uh per day it cost them to rent all the forklifts and the like the
- 1:29:13people to move it all in it costs hundreds of thousands to build the
- 1:29:17elaborate designs like some of these were like massive dragons and things
- 1:29:22like so the stands where they have like the consoles right these are like
- 1:29:28constructed things that look like you would build them into a into a a house
- 1:29:33or a store like they would look like permanent fixtures they're just there
- 1:29:37for three days the Bethesda Booth the um Cafe the diner I mean right like like
- 1:29:42it's a diner real Diner yeah yeah overall um there's not a clear number
- 1:29:48but I think it's in the millions fire out it wouldn't that doesn't surprise me
- 1:29:53MH CU like some of them you know some of them it was like a you know like a stand
- 1:29:57with a console on it it was quite simple but others it was like way out of control
- 1:30:02MH like Nintendo I can't imagine how much that would have cost because they
- 1:30:06took up half of the show floor yeah it was huge huge and very elaborate yeah so
- 1:30:12that aspect of it was really cool it actually reminded me of um when I first
- 1:30:15went to P Prime I mentioned this I think at the start of this that Prime I guess
- 1:30:20because of when it is in the year has a lot more games coming out and so the
- 1:30:25first one that I went to had a lot more elaborate displays than uh the other
- 1:30:29packes like packs East particularly this year was very packed with people and the
- 1:30:34displays weren't as elaborate and I wonder if it's just it is because of the
- 1:30:37time of year or if it's because they've found that they don't need to spend that
- 1:30:42much money on an elaborate display because the fans don't really give a
- 1:30:45they want the game anyway right that makes me wonder if E3 will be as
- 1:30:50elaborate next year if that's the case cuz they don't need to impress the the
- 1:30:54fans are there and they they're not fuss you know MH and and actually a lot of
- 1:30:58them said that they're like they don't need all of that fancy stuff they just
- 1:31:02want to play the games so right but but I'll be a sad because it makes it
- 1:31:08special that's not really what they there for to begin with these big stands
- 1:31:15like that um they were so the media could come in and take pictures and
- 1:31:19really hype it up and the public like it would get displayed to the public via
- 1:31:24the media as this big elaborate thing that people just wanted to buy but I
- 1:31:31guess the media's changing I know Unfortunately they let like us
- 1:31:35in now yeah maybe fortunately then I really enjoyed E3 I would do it again I
- 1:31:41will do it again we met some cool people there too we talked to Jeff Canada yeah
- 1:31:45who we have met in the past before at PX Australia um I talked to him about his
- 1:31:50old show totally rad show and found out that they were doing a reunion that day
- 1:31:56unfortunately it was a live stream that I cannot find any way to watch so if you
- 1:32:01guys can find me TRS from
- 1:32:06E3 I be very very happy they streamed it on caffeine we know that but uh because
- 1:32:12of because we're at E3 we weren't able to watch it so we also caught a little
- 1:32:17bit of kind of funny yeah uh which is Greg Miller's new show on um Gamespot
- 1:32:22and we saw them record IGN live on the last day of e3 which was awesome
- 1:32:28because I'm a big fan of Damon Hatfield yep yep no that was cool that was fun
- 1:32:35they're nice guys actually like all of them all really cool yeah and we also
- 1:32:39got to see them shoot uh the Xbox daily yeah with Major Nelson that was that was
- 1:32:44cool as well you might be able to see us uh because we were at the front I didn't
- 1:32:48think of that until now yeah have a look for us just behind the stage yeah we
- 1:32:52should have a look see if wece over there um another add-on they had at E3
- 1:32:57this is a this is a new thing that they did this year they haven't done before
- 1:33:00E3 was the Coliseum which was actually not at the convention center it was at
- 1:33:04the the novo which is a Microsoft
- 1:33:07theater um just nearby in Downtown LA
- 1:33:12and the panels all sounded really amazing and I was very keen to to go
- 1:33:18until I saw how they were handled
- 1:33:24the line and letting people in mhm it's and not a huge theater it's SE what they
- 1:33:31say like 1600 people I think uh I think he said it seats about
- 1:33:362500 but or it the capacity is
- 1:33:412500 but if they are seated if they're chairs it drops it down to about 1,600
- 1:33:48right and so they said they're going to start the line at what like 6:00 a.m. 7:
- 1:33:54a.m. or something like that and then the first panel was at 11:30 and I was like
- 1:33:57oh my god um so I I was like well I'm probably going to skip that because I
- 1:34:02don't like I want I got stuff to do I don't want to wait in line for five
- 1:34:07hours and that is something that we can stream online so yes yeah all those
- 1:34:12talks are available we've yet to catch up on them all because we've been so
- 1:34:15busy but I mean they had one with Neil degrass Tyson uh James gun Randy
- 1:34:19Pitchford Randy Pitchford and and Kiki wolf kill from um 343 Studios so that
- 1:34:24panel uh it was called World Builders it sounds really interesting cuz they're
- 1:34:28all masters of The Craft so I'd be very interested to check that out any panel
- 1:34:33that Randy Pitchford is in just amazing yeah he's he's he's the man uh there's
- 1:34:38one Jack Black talking to um Tim Schaefer from uh from double fine uh
- 1:34:45they had a ton of good panels oh Dan tractenberg was there for one of the
- 1:34:48panels he's also in from TRS uh to the rad show uh and he
- 1:34:53directed 10 Cloverfield Lane he was there for a panel as well so they they
- 1:34:57had a ton of great things it was just uh I knew that the lines were going to be
- 1:35:00bad and it was confirmed later on online when people were complaining that it's a
- 1:35:06shame but like they weren't you weren't allowed to take a camera or recording
- 1:35:09devices in and they were turning away people with like iPads and and I think
- 1:35:13the security just weren't well informed as to what constitutes you know a
- 1:35:18recording device that would telling people to go away for silly things like
- 1:35:22I said like tablet and things and then you had to go to the back of the line
- 1:35:26which right and not only that when the the theat set say around 1600 people and
- 1:35:32it was if you stayed in there you stay in there and and so unless someone
- 1:35:36leaves no one else can go in and right it's just I hopefully that's something
- 1:35:42they can work on for next time because that just seems
- 1:35:47ludicrous not the rapper the the bad organization right we actually
- 1:35:52determined that we would get more out of that panel if we just waited and watched
- 1:35:57it online yeah absolutely because otherwise we would have spent our entire first day at D3
- 1:36:03waiting in line for a panel yeah it's silly and then even then if we hadn't
- 1:36:07gotten there at 6: a.m. we still might not have gotten in would have been right
- 1:36:11would have been worth but you know would have been literally a waste of six hours
- 1:36:14so not worth it well that is our wrap-up of e3
