- 1:07Donna J. Jodhan, LLB, ACSP, MBA: Greetings, everybody. And I'm Donna J.
- 1:11Jordan, your host for the Remarkable World Commentary for July 2026.
- 1:19So what do I have on my mind for my first episode or my first podcast for July?
- 1:30You know, this is a pet peeve of mine, and I'm telling you,
- 1:34it just continues to go on and on and on.
- 1:41And it's all about how accessible is online learning again,
- 1:49how accessible is online learning?
- 1:53I want to hear your feedback.
- 1:55I would love for you to write to me and let me know what your thoughts are.
- 2:00Write to me at Donna johnson@gmail.com.
- 2:06That's odhan@gmail.com.
- 2:14I have been a lifelong learner.
- 2:17I've gone from the times when we used to submit our exams in
- 2:27by typing it out on a good old typewriter to recording it with a tape recorder.
- 2:35And now we have online learning.
- 2:39I have to admit that there have been a lot of progress with regard to online learning,
- 2:46but there is still a lot more to do.
- 2:51It's not just the exams that I am referring to today.
- 2:56How about registration forms, learning materials and contents?
- 3:04A lot of the learning management systems are still not very accessible to those of us who
- 3:13are blind and visually impaired.
- 3:15And to those of us with cognitive challenges.
- 3:22Now let's look at access to online exams.
- 3:27The thing about that is that when it comes to diagrams and when it comes to understanding
- 3:35what the diagram is trying to represent or what the image is trying to represent,
- 3:41there needs to be a lot more work done in this area.
- 3:46For if you go in there to many of these exams,
- 3:49and I'm not going to name some of these exams,
- 3:52because I really don't want to get into a fight with any company.
- 3:58If the screen reader that you're using is not compatible to the software that is being used
- 4:07by those administering the exams, then you're in big trouble.
- 4:13If you have a reader or a scribe or a proctor that you're lucky enough to get when you go
- 4:19to write your online exams.
- 4:23Let it be known that these readers need to be comfortable and they need to understand what
- 4:30they're reading. It is totally unfair to expect a reader to go in cold and be able to
- 4:37read something to someone else.
- 4:41That's my thought. Now, when we come to access to trainers and
- 4:47instructors, that's another problem.
- 4:50Access to trainers and instructors still are still lagging behind.
- 4:57We don't have access to trainers and instructors who are able to train us and
- 5:06instruct us as to how to put together the combination of a screen reader or a Zoom
- 5:15text, or any sort of Zoom software.
- 5:19Put it together with the online forms.
- 5:22There's still a lot of work to be done when it comes to this.
- 5:29All right. That is my rant for today.
- 5:33So let's go to a story for today.
- 5:38What is one of the most stressful events takes place in our lives?
- 5:45If we are unlucky enough to have it happen to us?
- 5:51This comes from one of my listeners, and they tell me a home invasion when a home
- 5:59invasion takes place. One's life changes.
- 6:03It changes for the worst.
- 6:06A home invasion changes one's life.
- 6:10So many things happen.
- 6:13Your house is entered into by someone you don't know for the most part.
- 6:20Even if you know the person.
- 6:22The person comes in uninvited and they come into your home,
- 6:27intending to do you harm and to take possession of your possessions.
- 6:35A home invasion is not something that anyone would want to happen in their lives.
- 6:40But there you have it.
- 6:42It's one of the most stressful things that can happen to you.
- 6:48This particular listener reached out to me after a home invasion of a year ago,
- 6:55and thanks to my mental stretch, I have been able to help them deal with it,
- 7:01to relax that little bit more, to recharge and regurgitate.
- 7:06You're never, ever going to get over a home invasion,
- 7:10but please leave my mental strength to help you out.
- 7:16What is my mental stretch?
- 7:18It really helps you to use every part of your body to become more in tune with your stress.
- 7:27Okay. And you utilize this.
- 7:30Utilize sorry. The senses of smell, touch, sight,
- 7:36taste and hearing to help you out.
- 7:39You want to know more about my mental stress?
- 7:42Then please call me. Or better yet, email me at Donna jordan@gmail.com.
- 7:51Take advantage of my mental stretch.
- 7:54I will show you how after years of using it with others.
- 7:58Okay, right. This is it for me for this first podcast,
- 8:06The Remarkable World Commentary for July.
- 8:09I wish everyone a great rest of the day and a great rest of the week,
- 8:13and I will see you next time.
- 8:15Take care. Now.
- 8:20Podcast Commentator: Donna wants to hear from you and invites you to write to her at donnajodhan@gmail.com.
