- 0:21Speaker 1: You are listening to Eagles Postgan Analysis here at the
- 0:23Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly
- 0:26Speaker 1: sports podcast show in the world, eleven and a half
- 0:29Speaker 1: years strong. And the Philadelphia Eagles are heading to the
- 0:33Speaker 1: super Bowl. Here in the NFC Championship game, they beat
- 0:37Speaker 1: the Washington Commanders by a score of fifty five to
- 0:40Speaker 1: twenty three. A very dominant game in so many ways
- 0:45Speaker 1: by this Eagles team. We're worried a few times here
- 0:48Speaker 1: and there, but we're gonna dive into our themes. We're
- 0:50Speaker 1: gonna grade each unit and the coaches. Oh my gosh,
- 0:54Speaker 1: we are so stoked here at the PSD podcast show.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Warren, here, my buddy Len Sicker. My god, Len,
- 1:02Speaker 1: They're heading to the super Bowl. It's happening, man, I.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Know it's happening again. This is unbelievable. And and just
- 1:09Speaker 2: the way they won. And I mean I would have
- 1:11Speaker 2: never thought putting up fifty five points. I know that
- 1:14Speaker 2: that didn't even enter my mind at all. So yeah,
- 1:19Speaker 2: and there was a point, you know, even in the
- 1:20Speaker 2: third quarter where I'm still like they're only up eleven.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I know, I don't feel confident at all, Like all
- 1:26Speaker 2: that stuff and then and then they just pulled away.
- 1:29Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean it was touch and go there
- 1:31Speaker 2: for a little bit, but yeah, they pulled away and
- 1:33Speaker 2: they did it. They're going.
- 1:34Speaker 1: They did it. They're They're absolutely going. The Philadelphia Eagles,
- 1:37Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni, Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, DeVante Smith, Dallas Goddard. Oh,
- 1:42Speaker 1: and yes, the front office led by Howie Roseman going
- 1:45Speaker 1: back to the Super Bowl for a second time in
- 1:48Speaker 1: three years. Let's get into our themes here, Len, I
- 1:51Speaker 1: want to go back to the start of the game. Here,
- 1:52Speaker 1: the Commanders, they had the ball to start the game.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Eagles won the toss, they deferred, but man, the Commanders
- 1:59Speaker 1: drove down the field eighteen play drive, their longest drive
- 2:04Speaker 1: of the entire season, and I was like, oh my gosh,
- 2:07Speaker 1: what is happening here? This Eagles defense cannot stop them.
- 2:10Speaker 1: And it wasn't like there were a lot of explosive
- 2:11Speaker 1: plays or anything. The Commanders averaged three point two yards
- 2:15Speaker 1: per play for only fifty four yards on that opening
- 2:17Speaker 1: eighteen play drive. But they were converting on like every
- 2:22Speaker 1: third down or fourth down. We know that the Commanders
- 2:25Speaker 1: go for it on fourth down more than any other
- 2:27Speaker 1: NFL team in the in the league here, but they
- 2:30Speaker 1: scored a field goal. Eagles kept them to not getting
- 2:33Speaker 1: into the end zone. Scored a field goal. The Eagles.
- 2:36Speaker 1: They get the ball on their first drive. It's a
- 2:39Speaker 1: pitch left to Saquon Barkley, Dallas Goddard, Landed Dickerson, I
- 2:42Speaker 1: think it was Landed Dickerson, if I'm remembering correctly, did
- 2:45Speaker 1: an amazing job on their blocks up front, and he
- 2:47Speaker 1: goes for a touchdown sixty yards the very first play
- 2:50Speaker 1: Eagles play of the game. Took eighteen seconds for the
- 2:53Speaker 1: Eagles to score. There, my god, and right there and
- 2:56Speaker 1: then we should have known it was probably gonna be
- 2:58Speaker 1: a dominant game.
- 2:59Speaker 2: A man, Well, it was. It was interesting because, yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 2: you talked about those those the juxtaposition, those first two drives,
- 3:05Speaker 2: this long, grinded out drive, Yeah, and then followed by
- 3:09Speaker 2: followed up by a quick strike, which is like, okay, awesome,
- 3:12Speaker 2: we're winning the same time, if it's going to go
- 3:14Speaker 2: like this, man, our defense is going to be gas exactly.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'm glad you said it.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah, And you know, I mean, fortunately, you know kind
- 3:20Speaker 2: of you know, things kind of even out a little
- 3:23Speaker 2: bit on both ends. But it was just like, oh, man,
- 3:26Speaker 2: you know you got to give your guys a little
- 3:28Speaker 2: bit of a breather here.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Absolutely, because you just said it right there, buddy, like
- 3:32Speaker 1: an eighteen play drive. I was like, Oh my gosh,
- 3:35Speaker 1: they're going to be able to do this, Like we
- 3:36Speaker 1: saw this in the second Eagles Commander's Game of the
- 3:39Speaker 1: regular season. We saw that methodical offensive push from Washington,
- 3:44Speaker 1: and I was like, oh my gosh, we're going to
- 3:45Speaker 1: see this again. Right off the bat. The defense, they
- 3:47Speaker 1: are going to get gas, they are going to get tired.
- 3:49Speaker 1: But my other theme that I wanted to dive into
- 3:52Speaker 1: it just really dealt with how, yes, the defense gave
- 3:56Speaker 1: up some plays here and there. Sometimes they gave up
- 3:58Speaker 1: some big law arge chunk plays or explosive plays, whatever
- 4:02Speaker 1: you want to call it. But at the end of
- 4:03Speaker 1: the day, they were creating turnovers. They were doing what
- 4:06Speaker 1: this Eagles team has been doing for much of this season.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And there's one guy in particular I really want to credit,
- 4:11Speaker 1: and it's Zach Bond. I mean, he has been on
- 4:15Speaker 1: eleven Eagles turnovers on this season, seven forced fumbles, two interceptions,
- 4:20Speaker 1: two fumble recoveries throughout the course of this entire season.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Zach Bond and the Eagles defense in terms of turnovers,
- 4:27Speaker 1: what they've done this year complete. It's a complete turnaround
- 4:30Speaker 1: from last year and it's one of the reasons that
- 4:32Speaker 1: they are going to the Super Bowl.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Len. It's so funny because I nobody predicted this. I
- 4:40Speaker 2: think out of Zach Bond. I think he was a
- 4:42Speaker 2: guy when they brought him in, you know, coming into
- 4:46Speaker 2: you know, training camp and stuff like that, You're just thinking, Okay, he's.
- 4:50Speaker 1: A guy special teams guys.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Maybe, yeah, he's a body. Yep, he's in the running
- 4:55Speaker 2: for Defensive Player of the Year. Who saw this coming.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Nobody, and he probably should be the deal.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Probably didn't see this game exactly.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It's incredible how this team was able to create turnovers,
- 5:09Speaker 1: turnovers on special teams, turnover again, the defensive turnovers, and
- 5:13Speaker 1: the fumble recoveries. I mean, it's a fifty to fifty
- 5:16Speaker 1: percent chance whether or not a team is going to
- 5:19Speaker 1: get a fumble recovery. The evil The Eagles got all
- 5:21Speaker 1: of them in this game. They got all of them. Washington,
- 5:24Speaker 1: they fumbled three times, they lost all three of them.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Usually doesn't happen, but we saw it in this game.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And I felt like watching this game, like, Yeah, the
- 5:33Speaker 1: Eagles are finally getting their due. How many years have
- 5:35Speaker 1: we been watching the Eagles when they don't get these
- 5:37Speaker 1: fumble recoveries?
- 5:38Speaker 2: Lenn, Yeah, And it was. And then that's one of
- 5:41Speaker 2: my key themes in this game is like when they
- 5:45Speaker 2: when they had I mean, you know, not a ton
- 5:47Speaker 2: of turnover turnovers, but when they had to get one,
- 5:50Speaker 2: they got it. And when they got it, they capitalized
- 5:53Speaker 2: on it. They scored a touch down after every single
- 5:55Speaker 2: turnover that Washington gave them. Yep. And that's how you win.
- 5:59Speaker 2: You when you at those opportunities, you make the most
- 6:02Speaker 2: of them. And they just came at the most opportune times.
- 6:05Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean that's that was gigantic.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I said to my wife. I was like, you know what,
- 6:11Speaker 1: I just want them to get a field goal, you know,
- 6:13Speaker 1: off the turnovers. I want them to get points. But
- 6:16Speaker 1: like you just said, they got touchdowns off of every
- 6:18Speaker 1: single turnover. You can't go wrong with that. And when
- 6:21Speaker 1: that happens in the NFL, the team that turns the
- 6:23Speaker 1: ball over you're just gonna lose. I mean the statistically,
- 6:27Speaker 1: you are absolutely going to lose. And I also thought
- 6:29Speaker 1: It was really incredible what the defense did with regard
- 6:33Speaker 1: to the Commander's run game. In the first half, the
- 6:37Speaker 1: Eagles defense held the Commanders to thirty nine yards on
- 6:40Speaker 1: the ground and then yes, Jayden Daniels, he had that
- 6:42Speaker 1: nineteen yard scramble towards the end of the first half
- 6:45Speaker 1: which put them up to what was it, what fifty
- 6:48Speaker 1: eight yards on the ground. But at the end of
- 6:50Speaker 1: the day they had less than one hundred yards rushing.
- 6:54Speaker 1: It was ninety nine yards rushing, four yards per rush.
- 6:59Speaker 1: The Eagles defense just did a tremendous job, especially in
- 7:02Speaker 1: the in the rushing game, Brian Robinson he averaged three
- 7:06Speaker 1: point three yards per carry on eleven carries, land only
- 7:09Speaker 1: thirty six yards. Eagles defense, man, they came to play
- 7:12Speaker 1: as they have been throughout the season.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they've been it's all year long. They've
- 7:17Speaker 2: been great all year long. I mean it's just, I
- 7:19Speaker 2: mean they're just really just a complete team. I mean
- 7:25Speaker 2: every position group they're just they're just solid. There's no
- 7:29Speaker 2: it's not like, oh, they're they're good everywhere, but the
- 7:33Speaker 2: secondary kind of stink. So they're good everywhere, but they
- 7:35Speaker 2: don't have it, you know, tight ends or well, like
- 7:38Speaker 2: whatever it is, they they got it, like, yes, it's
- 7:41Speaker 2: they're just solid all the way around.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely, Let's head over to the offensive side of
- 7:47Speaker 1: the ball here, And of course we've got to talk
- 7:48Speaker 1: about Jalen Hurts because coming in, everybody was thinking what
- 7:51Speaker 1: was going to happen with his knee, his mobility, what's
- 7:54Speaker 1: that going to do for the RPO game? And look,
- 7:58Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts did not run the ball effectively in this game.
- 8:01Speaker 1: He carried the ball ten times for sixteen yards one
- 8:04Speaker 1: point sixty yards per carry. It's like, it's horrendous. It
- 8:07Speaker 1: was horrendous in terms of the RPO game. But you
- 8:10Speaker 1: really don't need it when you have Saquon Barkley carrying
- 8:13Speaker 1: the ball fifteen times for one hundred and eighteen yards.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And yes, he had that long of sixty yards that
- 8:18Speaker 1: we talked about earlier at the first play of the game,
- 8:20Speaker 1: but he averaged seven point nine yards per carry three
- 8:24Speaker 1: touchdowns on the day. And let's not take anything away
- 8:29Speaker 1: from Jalen Hurts in terms of what he did passing
- 8:32Speaker 1: the ball. Not perfect by any stretch, Len, He's not perfect.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts, though, does not have to be perfect in
- 8:39Speaker 1: terms of the quarterback position. I think for this team,
- 8:42Speaker 1: he didn't turn the ball over. Sure, there were times
- 8:45Speaker 1: when he was frustrating when you did actually see that
- 8:48Speaker 1: Manda Man coverage. I remember seeing it. It was in
- 8:51Speaker 1: the second quarter. There's Manda Man coverage AJ Brown and
- 8:54Speaker 1: whoever the defender was. There was no safety over top,
- 8:57Speaker 1: no double coverage. But Hurtz was just holding onto the
- 9:00Speaker 1: ball for way too long. It was either him not
- 9:02Speaker 1: trusting himself to get the ball to AJ Brown or
- 9:04Speaker 1: not trusting Aj to go up to the catch point
- 9:07Speaker 1: and get it. But then, you know, we get frustrated
- 9:10Speaker 1: with plays like that, but then we see Jalen Hurds
- 9:13Speaker 1: do some good stuff that doesn't even show up on
- 9:16Speaker 1: the stat sheet. So there was a hard count that
- 9:18Speaker 1: I that I was remembering. I think it was in
- 9:23Speaker 1: the second quarter.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I thought I thought you were gonna go
- 9:26Speaker 2: to the uh to the tush push.
- 9:28Speaker 1: We're getting there, Yeah, we're getting there. Yeah. So we
- 9:33Speaker 1: again some of the good stuff here that the intangibles.
- 9:36Speaker 1: That hard count in the second quarter got a commander's
- 9:39Speaker 1: safety to show his coverage pre snap, and at that
- 9:43Speaker 1: point he knew that he was going to be able
- 9:45Speaker 1: to hit Dallas Goddard on a third down conversion. You know,
- 9:49Speaker 1: it was little stuff like that. You know, he doesn't
- 9:52Speaker 1: have to be passing the ball like fifty yards down
- 9:54Speaker 1: the field, you know, every single series in order to
- 9:57Speaker 1: be a good quarterback on this team. But look at
- 10:00Speaker 1: the end of the half, he was twelve of eighteen
- 10:02Speaker 1: for one hundred and forty one yards two touchdowns, and
- 10:04Speaker 1: he had a passer rating of one hundred and eight
- 10:06Speaker 1: eight point eight. And he finishes the game forty eight
- 10:09Speaker 1: total passes. He completed twenty nine of them, two hundred
- 10:13Speaker 1: and fifty five yards a touchdown. Oh no, I'm reading
- 10:16Speaker 1: Jayden Daniels. Holy cow, I'm reading his stats. Sorry. Twenty
- 10:19Speaker 1: of twenty eight, Jalen Hurts went two hundred and forty
- 10:22Speaker 1: six yards for a touchdown. He averaged eight point eight
- 10:25Speaker 1: yards per attempt, which is pretty good and a one
- 10:27Speaker 1: hundred and ten point one rating. Lenn, people have been
- 10:31Speaker 1: kicking the crap out of him for weeks and weeks
- 10:34Speaker 1: and weeks, and I thought he played a damn good game.
- 10:37Speaker 1: The end of the day, he played a damn good game.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Doesn't have to be perfect, but he's got to be
- 10:40Speaker 1: a guy who's a leader out there. He shows it
- 10:42Speaker 1: all the time. I mean, I can't wait to give
- 10:45Speaker 1: the grade for Jalen Hurts, but he did a fantastic
- 10:48Speaker 1: job in my opinion in this game.
- 10:50Speaker 2: He wasn't like mind blowingly good, but her solid game
- 10:53Speaker 2: and he did you know what the Eagles need him
- 10:57Speaker 2: to do, like I had in the background as we're
- 10:59Speaker 2: doing have on the Chiefs in the Bills game. They
- 11:03Speaker 2: don't need him to take over the like if Patrick
- 11:07Speaker 2: Mahomes or Josh Allen don't have a good day, those
- 11:11Speaker 2: teams are in trouble where you know, and look, you
- 11:14Speaker 2: don't want Hurts to stink up the joint. But like,
- 11:16Speaker 2: I just don't feel like there is wholly dependent upon
- 11:20Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts as as a lot of these other teams
- 11:23Speaker 2: are with their quarterback.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely absolutely, And let's get seriously, let's get into
- 11:28Speaker 1: touchbush here.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Okay, I've never seen anything like that sequence.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I have never seen. I have never heard a referee
- 11:36Speaker 1: actually use the phrase, we're this type of behavior on
- 11:41Speaker 1: an opposing defense who used to get off sides.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and also if I've never heard them say if
- 11:49Speaker 2: this continues, yes, we can't award this team a touchdown,
- 11:53Speaker 2: like I've never I didn't even know they could, but
- 11:55Speaker 2: I've never actually heard that threat, Like, if you guys
- 11:58Speaker 2: keep doing this, we're going to a word. I've never
- 12:02Speaker 2: heard that. I've never seen anything like that in my life.
- 12:05Speaker 2: It was that was that was bomkers.
- 12:08Speaker 1: It really was three straight off sides penalties basically at
- 12:12Speaker 1: the two foot line and then like the one foot
- 12:15Speaker 1: line when the.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Guy Louva was just like, I have not watched you
- 12:19Speaker 2: know him all season. I don't really know him as
- 12:22Speaker 2: a player that much, but I'd like just watching him.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I'm just like, this guy's entire game is instinct. Yes,
- 12:27Speaker 2: I'm gonna, I'm gonna I'm going to try to time
- 12:29Speaker 2: everything and just go. And that's his entire game is.
- 12:33Speaker 2: From what it looked like.
- 12:34Speaker 1: There's going to be a narrative this week, So I figure,
- 12:36Speaker 1: you know what, why don't we just talk about it
- 12:38Speaker 1: here on the pod Frankie Louvo. You know whether or
- 12:41Speaker 1: not he really is a piece of garbage as some
- 12:44Speaker 1: are going to say this week, just completely jumping off sides,
- 12:47Speaker 1: not even with just with the tush push off sides
- 12:50Speaker 1: that he had. There was another part of the game
- 12:53Speaker 1: where he's jumping off sides just trying to blow people
- 12:56Speaker 1: up on the field on the eagle side.
- 12:58Speaker 2: There was one play I think it was in the
- 12:59Speaker 2: third quarter where he tied it absolutely perfectly and he
- 13:03Speaker 2: did stop you know, Saquon, you know, for for like
- 13:06Speaker 2: a one or two yard losses. So I mean, you know,
- 13:09Speaker 2: but it just feels like, Okay, his his entire mentality
- 13:13Speaker 2: is I'm going to just swing for the fences every time,
- 13:16Speaker 2: and that's that's that's my game, Like, that's that's all
- 13:19Speaker 2: I do.
- 13:19Speaker 1: It's probably not the smartest way to play football, especially
- 13:22Speaker 1: in the a NFC Championship game. I don't know. I
- 13:25Speaker 1: don't think it's that smart, to be honest.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's got to be, I don't know, somewhat maddening
- 13:31Speaker 2: if you're if you're I mean, even like if you're
- 13:33Speaker 2: a fan, yes, but even if you're like a defensive coordinator,
- 13:37Speaker 2: like I don't know, it just feels like that would
- 13:38Speaker 2: be like, dude, come on, at a certain point, yep.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Absolutely, I have a couple more themes. Do you have
- 13:45Speaker 1: any more that you want to get into. I've got
- 13:47Speaker 1: like two more that I wanted to touch on real quick.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I mean it's kind of a joke in a way,
- 13:51Speaker 2: but you know who says it's a passing league. Yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 2: seven rushing touchdowns, and that's the thing you mentioned hurts
- 14:00Speaker 2: his game, you know, Okay, only ten rushes for sixteen yards.
- 14:04Speaker 2: I mean three of more scores.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Three of them were scores. Yes, yes, yes, Well tousch
- 14:10Speaker 1: Push had a very nice run too, where he had
- 14:12Speaker 1: some great blockers out there. You make a great point, Len,
- 14:16Speaker 1: and it goes to my next theme, the second to
- 14:19Speaker 1: last theme I wanted to get into, which is the
- 14:21Speaker 1: resiliency of the offensive line coming into this game. Cam Jurgens, Yes,
- 14:26Speaker 1: he was active, but with his back injury, they weren't
- 14:29Speaker 1: starting him, so Landon Dickerson moves over to the center position.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Tyler Steen comes in at left guard, and at a
- 14:36Speaker 1: certain point in the game one, it wasn't working very well.
- 14:40Speaker 1: It just wasn't working well. There were communication problems and
- 14:43Speaker 1: Landon Dickerson ended up injuring his knee. Looked like he
- 14:47Speaker 1: was going to try to stick it out, but it
- 14:49Speaker 1: just didn't happen. Cam Jurgens comes back into the game,
- 14:53Speaker 1: or not back into the game. He just came into
- 14:55Speaker 1: the game. After being a non starter, comes in and
- 14:59Speaker 1: does damn good job with that back injury. And again
- 15:02Speaker 1: it just shows you the resiliency of this offensive line
- 15:05Speaker 1: and they were able to get it done. The depth
- 15:06Speaker 1: of the offensive line. Tyler Steen not perfect today at all.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see what his PFF grade is.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Not perfect, but he was able to contain a defensive
- 15:17Speaker 1: front of Washington that's a prolific defensive front, it really is.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And for him to be able to step in and
- 15:23Speaker 1: then the communication improved during the course of the game.
- 15:26Speaker 1: The offensive line's resilience, I think is a major theme
- 15:28Speaker 1: in this game.
- 15:29Speaker 2: When it's funny, I got home because I was working
- 15:32Speaker 2: today and I got out at you know, my normal time,
- 15:36Speaker 2: shortly after three point thirty. So by the time I
- 15:38Speaker 2: got home, there was only like a couple of minutes
- 15:40Speaker 2: left in the first half. But I was listening to
- 15:41Speaker 2: the game the whole time. Yeah, And they kind of
- 15:44Speaker 2: made that point of like, you know, wow, it's kind
- 15:47Speaker 2: of crazy that, like, you know, if Jurgens isn't going
- 15:51Speaker 2: to start that they had him active today. Yeah, And
- 15:54Speaker 2: as it turns out, it's a good thing that they did.
- 15:56Speaker 2: It left him active because he even my quick and
- 15:59Speaker 2: Merril research saying that, like this is not a conventional
- 16:03Speaker 2: move keeping him as an active member of the roster.
- 16:06Speaker 2: If you really don't think he's going to play, it's
- 16:09Speaker 2: a spot that could go to somebody else. But man,
- 16:11Speaker 2: it worked out big time in this particular case.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Absolutely did. The other theme I wanted to get into
- 16:16Speaker 1: before we go to our break and then get to
- 16:19Speaker 1: our grades lend was that we all wanted aj Brown
- 16:24Speaker 1: specifically to step up in this game. Look Davonte Smith
- 16:28Speaker 1: coming into this game. He actually had four targets in
- 16:32Speaker 1: both playoff games and caught all four balls. Like Davante
- 16:36Speaker 1: Smith has done what he was called upon to do
- 16:39Speaker 1: during these playoffs. The question was AJ Brown, especially after
- 16:43Speaker 1: last week in the divisional round against the Rams, when
- 16:45Speaker 1: he dropped two balls, first time he has dropped the
- 16:48Speaker 1: ball this season. But this week he was targeted eight times,
- 16:52Speaker 1: came down with six balls for ninety six yards. He
- 16:55Speaker 1: averaged sixteen yards per reception and a touchdown. His long
- 16:59Speaker 1: was thirty one yards. AJ Brown just a complete quote
- 17:04Speaker 1: bounce back game. It's amazing. You have to say that
- 17:06Speaker 1: about Aj Brown, But after last week only, or after
- 17:09Speaker 1: the past two weeks in the playoffs only three total
- 17:14Speaker 1: catches for twenty four yards. He bounced back in a
- 17:17Speaker 1: big way with ninety six yards and a touchdown in
- 17:19Speaker 1: this game. He needed to bounce back. It happened. We
- 17:22Speaker 1: wanted to see it, and it was part of this win's.
- 17:26Speaker 2: It was a really good heartening thing to see because
- 17:30Speaker 2: when you look at a guy like AJ Brown and
- 17:33Speaker 2: a guy like Devonte Smith DeVante Smith lately, and you
- 17:36Speaker 2: look at the Eagles team as a whole, their identity
- 17:38Speaker 2: as and offense is more I think geared towards a
- 17:42Speaker 2: running team. Absolutely the passing team at this point. Yeah,
- 17:45Speaker 2: that's kind of their identity. So it's it's tough for
- 17:47Speaker 2: wide receivers and you know, you think of wider you know,
- 17:49Speaker 2: your stereotypical star wide receiver, and you think of a
- 17:54Speaker 2: guy that if he's not getting the ball and if
- 17:56Speaker 2: he's not getting the touches, it's hard for him to
- 17:58Speaker 2: remain engaged in the game. And that can be a J. Brown,
- 18:02Speaker 2: I think, and don't get me wrong, I love a J. Brown,
- 18:05Speaker 2: but that can be him to a point where you
- 18:08Speaker 2: kind of like, you got to get this guy the
- 18:10Speaker 2: ball a little bit and just keep him engaged or else,
- 18:13Speaker 2: you know, whole he can show his frustration a little
- 18:16Speaker 2: bit more. I don't think you get that as much
- 18:17Speaker 2: out of Davanpa Smith. I think he kind of you know,
- 18:21Speaker 2: I don't want to say mellow, but he just doesn't
- 18:23Speaker 2: show his frustrations, I would say, as easily as Aj
- 18:26Speaker 2: Brown does when when you know, the passing game kind
- 18:29Speaker 2: of gets put on the back burner alone, right right,
- 18:31Speaker 2: So to see him have the game he had today
- 18:33Speaker 2: and have some important catches and have a touchdown catch,
- 18:36Speaker 2: he's just a guy that you got to feed just
- 18:38Speaker 2: to you know, just to you know, make sure that
- 18:40Speaker 2: he's he's there with it. And so I was happy
- 18:42Speaker 2: to see that today because he is an important he's
- 18:46Speaker 2: a great player. So you want to keep a guy
- 18:48Speaker 2: like that, you know, happy and engaged.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, all right, Well buddy, I don't have anything
- 18:54Speaker 1: else in terms of my themes here. You should we
- 18:57Speaker 1: go to break and then come back and do the grades.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, all right.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Let's do it. Let's take a break, folks, we'll be
- 19:03Speaker 1: back in just a bit. All right. We are back
- 19:07Speaker 1: and here with Len we're gonna get into our grades.
- 19:10Speaker 1: We just got done doing the themes and again, folks,
- 19:13Speaker 1: in case you hadn't heard, Philadelphia Eagles are heading to
- 19:15Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. My gosh, I can't believe I get
- 19:17Speaker 1: to say those words over the course of the next
- 19:19Speaker 1: two weeks. Amazing. All right, let's get to the quarterback position.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts is a really good quarterback, and in this
- 19:28Speaker 1: game I am going to give him based on what
- 19:30Speaker 1: we were talking about earlier, He's gonna get a straight
- 19:32Speaker 1: up A from me. Again, not a Patrick Mahomes type
- 19:36Speaker 1: of quarterback who is asked to do a ton. He
- 19:39Speaker 1: certainly had some hiccups in this game, as we mentioned
- 19:41Speaker 1: earlier before the break Len, but I'm gonna give him
- 19:44Speaker 1: an A because, look, he not only was using his
- 19:46Speaker 1: arm effectively, but he was using his legs. Again. The
- 19:50Speaker 1: tush push just it's it is unstoppable.
- 19:53Speaker 2: You know.
- 19:53Speaker 1: We had some Eagles postgame shows this past season where
- 19:56Speaker 1: we're like, wow, is push being figured out? Because it
- 19:59Speaker 1: was stopped a few times here and there throughout the season.
- 20:02Speaker 1: But when it came to this game now it was
- 20:04Speaker 1: it was very effective. Three four total touchdowns from Jalen Hurts.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Damn good quarterback. He gets an A from me?
- 20:11Speaker 2: What do you give him, buddy, I'm gonna go B plus,
- 20:15Speaker 2: which Kenn talked up to a minus. I thought he
- 20:17Speaker 2: had a good game and most importantly of all, you
- 20:19Speaker 2: know you mentioned the knee. It looked good today. He
- 20:22Speaker 2: had a lot of times where he was you know,
- 20:25Speaker 2: rushes that he did make, and then other times where
- 20:27Speaker 2: you know, just kind of just trying to scramble and
- 20:31Speaker 2: keep a play alive. Where he looked good. He looked
- 20:34Speaker 2: like more there was more of a noticeable burst like
- 20:37Speaker 2: so and that was that was really heartening to see.
- 20:40Speaker 2: And he he still had a couple of moments the
- 20:44Speaker 2: only I mean, the main complaint I have with him
- 20:47Speaker 2: is just holding the ball too long. Oh yeah, taking
- 20:49Speaker 2: sacks that he and even there were a couple of
- 20:52Speaker 2: plays today where he's holding it and holding it and
- 20:54Speaker 2: running around and turn and making turns and stuff like that,
- 20:57Speaker 2: and I'm screaming, throw the ball away, and you know,
- 20:59Speaker 2: he eventually did do it. So you know, he kept
- 21:03Speaker 2: himself out of trouble more than I think he has
- 21:05Speaker 2: the past couple of weeks, which is that that's that
- 21:07Speaker 2: was something that was big for me to see. But
- 21:10Speaker 2: he's still he's just he makes me so nervous sometimes.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I know, only sat two times, only sat two.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Times, which is which is an important thing to note.
- 21:18Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean I thought he had a really
- 21:21Speaker 2: I used the word solid earlier. I'm nobody's gonna walk
- 21:26Speaker 2: away going, oh, this is a star performance or whatever.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Ye even even that Super Bowl loss of the Chiefs,
- 21:31Speaker 2: that was a game where you were like, yeah, they lost,
- 21:33Speaker 2: but man, he was a star in that game. I'm
- 21:37Speaker 2: it wasn't quite at that level at all, but yeah,
- 21:41Speaker 2: it was solid. I'll go, I'll go, I'll you know,
- 21:43Speaker 2: hell that they're going to Super Bowl. A minus.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I could even do a minus two because just
- 21:48Speaker 1: given some of the frustrations we did see with him
- 21:50Speaker 1: holding onto the ball too long. But it's like for me,
- 21:52Speaker 1: it's a a minus area for Jalen Hurts. All right,
- 21:56Speaker 1: let's get to the running back position. Saquon Barkley again
- 21:59Speaker 1: carried the ball for fifty times one hundred and eighteen
- 22:01Speaker 1: yards average seven point nine yards per carry, three touchdowns.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Will Shipley getting in there as well with four carries
- 22:08Speaker 1: for seventy seven yards. He had a touchdown. He averaged
- 22:11Speaker 1: nineteen yards nineteen point three yards. Because of that fifty
- 22:15Speaker 1: seven yard or that he broke in the fourth quarter.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Kenny Gainwell rushed the ball three times for eight yards.
- 22:20Speaker 1: He averaged two point seven yards per carry. It's an
- 22:23Speaker 1: A plus for the running backs this week. It's just
- 22:27Speaker 1: what else are you gonna say? It's an A plus?
- 22:28Speaker 2: Lin, Yeah, I'm gonna I mean, I don't want to
- 22:32Speaker 2: single Saquon Barkley out just because I want to include
- 22:35Speaker 2: the running game as a whole. I mean seven rushing touchdowns,
- 22:39Speaker 2: you know, Yes, you're going to talk about Barkley getting
- 22:41Speaker 2: the three herts had three, Will Shipley had one, even
- 22:45Speaker 2: a couple of rushes which I didn't see coming. But
- 22:49Speaker 2: Dallas Goddard had a couple rushes, yes, out of you know,
- 22:54Speaker 2: coming out of motion that you know, we're an interesting
- 22:58Speaker 2: wrinkle to see. But all in all, I mean, you
- 23:00Speaker 2: look at what they did on the ground, you know,
- 23:02Speaker 2: thirty six rushes in total, two hundred and twenty nine yards,
- 23:06Speaker 2: six point four yards a carry, seven touchdowns. This is
- 23:09Speaker 2: including you know, Kenny Pickett taking two knees at the
- 23:12Speaker 2: end of the game too, factoring in those numbers, so
- 23:14Speaker 2: he had negative three yards, you know. So yeah, I
- 23:18Speaker 2: just you can't give the rushing attack as a whole,
- 23:21Speaker 2: anything but an A plus today.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Absolutely. All right, let's move to the receiving wide receivers
- 23:27Speaker 1: and tight ends again. We talked about aj Brown's numbers.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Dallas Goddard had seven catches on eight targets for eighty
- 23:33Speaker 1: five yards twelve point one yards per reception. We mentioned
- 23:37Speaker 1: Devonte Smith's numbers as well, but again four receptions for
- 23:40Speaker 1: forty five yards. Kenneth Gainwell had two receptions for sixteen yards,
- 23:44Speaker 1: and Saquon Barkley had a reception for four yards. Two
- 23:47Speaker 1: hundred and forty six total receiving yards on the day.
- 23:50Speaker 1: The receivers did what they needed to do in this game.
- 23:52Speaker 1: They were called upon at certain points in the game
- 23:55Speaker 1: that came down with balls when they needed to. I
- 23:58Speaker 1: give him an a him a straight up A. What
- 24:01Speaker 1: do you give him?
- 24:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it was it was basically a three
- 24:04Speaker 2: man show with Brown, Goddard and to a slightly lesser
- 24:07Speaker 2: extent of Antae Smith. But still you look at Vonta
- 24:09Speaker 2: Smith's numbers. Every time they targeted him, he caught it.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Four targets for four receptions, so you know he did
- 24:16Speaker 2: his job there in terms of when they needed him
- 24:18Speaker 2: he was there, and then Brown and Goddard both had
- 24:20Speaker 2: nice games as well. So yeah, again, it wasn't the
- 24:23Speaker 2: focal point, but when they needed it, it was there,
- 24:26Speaker 2: So I'll give him an a.
- 24:27Speaker 1: All right, very good. The offensive line, I know we
- 24:30Speaker 1: were talking about them earlier before the break, talking about
- 24:33Speaker 1: the resiliency of the offensive line. It was not perfect
- 24:36Speaker 1: by any stretch throughout the game. There were some miscues
- 24:39Speaker 1: here and there, miscommunication, but they did end up getting
- 24:42Speaker 1: it together in second half. For sure. I'm going to
- 24:45Speaker 1: give them an A minus this week. What do you
- 24:47Speaker 1: give the offensive line, buddy.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fair. I mean, you know, Herts, despite being
- 24:53Speaker 2: a guy that does hold the ball, only sacked twice.
- 24:55Speaker 2: They rushed for two hundred and forty six yards. You know,
- 24:58Speaker 2: hard to ask for much more than that. So yeah,
- 25:02Speaker 2: I'll go away minus there as well.
- 25:03Speaker 1: All right, very good. Let's move over to the defensive
- 25:06Speaker 1: side of the ball, the defensive line, and you've got
- 25:09Speaker 1: one guy in Nolan Smith who was just wreaking havoc
- 25:13Speaker 1: week after week after week. Yes, he had four total
- 25:16Speaker 1: tackles in this game. He had one sack, a tackle
- 25:18Speaker 1: for a loss, and a quarterback hit. But in total,
- 25:22Speaker 1: the Eagles had three sacks, four tackles for a loss,
- 25:26Speaker 1: that had eight passes defended, and four quarterback hits. But
- 25:29Speaker 1: in terms of the defensive line, man, I love what
- 25:34Speaker 1: we were seeing from him. There was a lot of
- 25:35Speaker 1: times when Jadan Daniels was on the run, and sometimes
- 25:40Speaker 1: those runs were plentiful in terms of the yards because
- 25:45Speaker 1: he would forty eight yards on the day on six carries.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Jayden Daniels had for eight eight yards per rushing attempt
- 25:53Speaker 1: and a touchdown. But I think overall this defensive line
- 25:57Speaker 1: really put a lot of pressure on him. We saw
- 25:59Speaker 1: some miss passes. Jayden Daniels had to get rid of
- 26:03Speaker 1: the ball a number of times, as I mentioned earlier
- 26:05Speaker 1: when twenty nine of forty eight for two hundred and
- 26:08Speaker 1: fifty five yards. I think from an overall perspective, the
- 26:11Speaker 1: defensive line gets an a minus from me this week. Buddy,
- 26:14Speaker 1: what do you give him? Just simply because of the
- 26:16Speaker 1: pressure that they were constantly putting on him and and
- 26:19Speaker 1: the holding but by the way that wasn't getting called.
- 26:22Speaker 1: It was astonishing. So I'm given the defensive line and
- 26:25Speaker 1: a minus? What do you give him?
- 26:26Speaker 2: Yeah? I think that's fair. I mean you got you know,
- 26:29Speaker 2: you know, Carter had quite a push up the middle.
- 26:32Speaker 2: You know, you had Jordan Davis just doing what he does,
- 26:36Speaker 2: taking up space. He had a nice game. Milton Williams
- 26:39Speaker 2: had a couple of really nice plays as well, So
- 26:41Speaker 2: especially like the middle of that line was really strong.
- 26:44Speaker 2: And then yeah, you mentioned Nolan Smith. I mean, I
- 26:49Speaker 2: don't know if I heard that race. He's got like
- 26:50Speaker 2: four sacks in the playoffs. Yes, so, I mean he's
- 26:54Speaker 2: been He's been on fire ever since the playoffs have started.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Another another good game today, So yeah, I mean just
- 27:00Speaker 2: all around. Jalx Hunt, you know, was in the mix two.
- 27:03Speaker 2: He had a quarterback hit five tackles, four of the solo.
- 27:06Speaker 2: So yeah, I think as a whole, as a unit,
- 27:09Speaker 2: they did a hell of a job. So I'll go
- 27:11Speaker 2: straight up a there.
- 27:12Speaker 1: All right, Let's move to the linebackers, Zach mainly Zach
- 27:15Speaker 1: Bond and Aaron Burks. Zach Bond leading the team with
- 27:19Speaker 1: twelve tackles, one tackle for a loss. He's just constantly
- 27:22Speaker 1: getting to the ball. The pursuit to the ball is
- 27:24Speaker 1: incredible with Zach Bond. Aaron Burks had a really good
- 27:27Speaker 1: game today as well. Nine total tackles, one zack, one
- 27:31Speaker 1: tackle for a loss, a quarterback hit, really stepping up
- 27:34Speaker 1: for Nacobe Dean. I thought we saw Aaron Burks do
- 27:36Speaker 1: some really good stuff in this game. Again, his pursuit
- 27:38Speaker 1: to the ball, you know, not as downhill necessarily as
- 27:42Speaker 1: Nakobe Dean, but he's getting the job done as a
- 27:45Speaker 1: very effective backup depth here on this Eagles team in general,
- 27:50Speaker 1: we have seen come to fruition, especially in these playoffs
- 27:53Speaker 1: and doing some good things. I'm gonna give the linebackers
- 27:55Speaker 1: this week and again you know, yeah you have you
- 27:59Speaker 1: have the turnovers that Zach Bonn you know, ended up making,
- 28:03Speaker 1: and just he's constantly in there. He's constantly in the phrase,
- 28:07Speaker 1: should be defensive player of the year, folks. I'm giving
- 28:11Speaker 1: the linebackers an a plus this week. What do you
- 28:13Speaker 1: give them?
- 28:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there's that that one playing trickle. I
- 28:17Speaker 2: think it was Austin Ekeler. I think it was him.
- 28:21Speaker 2: He caught a pass and on the ground, he caught it,
- 28:24Speaker 2: but he was able to get up. And they even
- 28:26Speaker 2: mentioned it, like Nick Sirianni says stuff like, you know,
- 28:28Speaker 2: if a guy's getting up off the ground, I want
- 28:31Speaker 2: you to try to punch that ball out and they
- 28:33Speaker 2: did that. I believe it was Orrin Burkes punched it
- 28:36Speaker 2: out and then Bond recovered it. If I'm remembering that,
- 28:39Speaker 2: Seau was correct, So you know right there. I mean,
- 28:42Speaker 2: it's just a perfect encapsulation of what they did to
- 28:45Speaker 2: They huge tackle numbers for for both you know, Bond
- 28:49Speaker 2: and Burke's all over the place. Those guys had a
- 28:53Speaker 2: phenomenal game. I thought, so, yeah, it's it's hard to
- 28:58Speaker 2: give him anything but a Nate plus. Yeah it is.
- 29:00Speaker 2: They were phenomenal.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Yeah, they absolutely were. All right, let's head to the
- 29:04Speaker 1: secondary where you have Oh yeah, had Quinnyon Mitchell getting
- 29:09Speaker 1: that that interception in the fourth quarter. How beautiful was that?
- 29:12Speaker 1: Love seeing it. He's got two on this season total
- 29:16Speaker 1: including the playoffs. Probably should have had a few more,
- 29:19Speaker 1: but CJ. Gardner Johnson throughout the season kind of took
- 29:22Speaker 1: those opportunities away for him if you were watching the games.
- 29:25Speaker 1: But anyway, Quinon Mitchell, Darius Slay, Reid Blank and Ship
- 29:29Speaker 1: Cooper Degene and again CJ. Gardner Johnson just doing a
- 29:34Speaker 1: phenomenal job. I was really hoping coming, you know, after
- 29:38Speaker 1: it was all said and done, that Terry McLaurin would
- 29:41Speaker 1: have less than sixty yards, and he did. He was
- 29:44Speaker 1: targeted seven times, only came down with three balls for
- 29:47Speaker 1: fifty one yards. Zach Ertz. Yes, he was the guy
- 29:50Speaker 1: who was out there with sixteen total targets, came down
- 29:53Speaker 1: with eleven balls for one hundred and four yards, And yes,
- 29:56Speaker 1: Terry McLaurin did have a touchdown. But when you look
- 29:58Speaker 1: at the receivers, boy, they just I mean there were
- 30:01Speaker 1: about nine different receivers that Jayden Daniels was throwing to
- 30:05Speaker 1: in this game, whether it was Austin Eckler, whether it
- 30:07Speaker 1: was John Bates. Their backup tight end, Diami Brown caught
- 30:13Speaker 1: three balls for forty two yards on five targets. So
- 30:16Speaker 1: like Austin Eckler, I mean, he was targeted seven times,
- 30:20Speaker 1: seven receivers seven receptions or was thrown to seven times,
- 30:24Speaker 1: caught the ball five times for seventeen yards. Like this
- 30:27Speaker 1: Eagles defense was just all over the place. The secondary
- 30:30Speaker 1: was all over the place. I give them an a
- 30:32Speaker 1: plus in this game as well.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought they were exceptionally strong the whole game.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I mean, they just you know, Jayden Daniels is a
- 30:42Speaker 2: hell of a player. I mean, he's he's electric man,
- 30:46Speaker 2: so you know you he's gonna get his You just
- 30:48Speaker 2: have to try to contain him the best you Canada.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I think they did that. You know, yeah he got
- 30:54Speaker 2: a touchdown, but you know it was they didn't let
- 30:57Speaker 2: him go off at any point in time, right, So yeah,
- 31:01Speaker 2: I thought they did a phenomenal job. I'd like to
- 31:02Speaker 2: see Quinnon Mitchell high point that ball and get that interception,
- 31:07Speaker 2: but yeah, they all around, you know, just as soon
- 31:09Speaker 2: as even if they did catch a ball, someone was
- 31:12Speaker 2: on them immediately. So I thought they tackled well. I
- 31:16Speaker 2: thought they just played a solid game overall, you know
- 31:19Speaker 2: they Yeah, I'm running out of words, but yeah, I
- 31:24Speaker 2: get them straight up. Back, I thought they were great.
- 31:26Speaker 1: All right, Let's move over to special teams and the
- 31:30Speaker 1: defense of an offensive coaching. Special teams this week was
- 31:34Speaker 1: really bizarre. We saw some really good stuff. We also
- 31:37Speaker 1: saw some crap from them as well. The crap really
- 31:40Speaker 1: that started with special teams. The Eagles punt return team.
- 31:44Speaker 1: They let the Commander's special teams and punt team complete
- 31:48Speaker 1: a fake punt a twenty three yard pass, and Washington
- 31:53Speaker 1: converted this when they were around their own I think
- 31:55Speaker 1: it was their own thirty yard line or so. Jeremiah
- 31:58Speaker 1: Trotter Junior really crap the bed. In terms of the
- 32:01Speaker 1: guy who was going out for the pass, I'm forgetting
- 32:03Speaker 1: the guy's name. Not a very not a very well known,
- 32:09Speaker 1: well trustway through the pass. Yeah yeah, yeah, I'm forgetting
- 32:12Speaker 1: who caught it. Who Jeremiah Trotter Junior was trying to cover?
- 32:16Speaker 1: But not good, not good, Another not good land Jake Elliott.
- 32:20Speaker 1: He just can't make field goals from past fifty yards.
- 32:23Speaker 1: It's a problem. It's a problem. He has thirteen kicks
- 32:26Speaker 1: this season that he has missed after missing only eleven
- 32:30Speaker 1: over the previous three years combined. I got a feeling
- 32:33Speaker 1: we are going to have a kicker competition during the offseason.
- 32:37Speaker 1: We'll get to that at some point down the road
- 32:39Speaker 1: because we've we've got a super Bowl bound team at
- 32:41Speaker 1: this point. That was kind of the crap, But I
- 32:43Speaker 1: really thought that the kick returns were really good in
- 32:46Speaker 1: this game. They averaged twenty five point two yards per
- 32:50Speaker 1: kick return in this game. Will Shipley averaged twenty nine
- 32:54Speaker 1: point three yards per return. Kenneth Gainwell averaged nineteen point
- 32:58Speaker 1: five yards. Isaiah Rodgers averaged twenty four yards. The kick
- 33:01Speaker 1: returns were really good. Cooper Dejen had one punt return
- 33:06Speaker 1: for ten yards, not too too bad. So I mean,
- 33:09Speaker 1: outside of you know, Jake Elliott and then the fake
- 33:12Speaker 1: punt that was successful with Washington, I'm gonna end up
- 33:15Speaker 1: giving special teams a B this week. What do you
- 33:17Speaker 1: give them?
- 33:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there were you know that there was
- 33:21Speaker 2: a fake punt, and then you know there was Elliott
- 33:26Speaker 2: missing the field goal, which you know he had the
- 33:27Speaker 2: leg for it. Yeah, he just pushed it. He just
- 33:30Speaker 2: pushed it off the side. I mean, I don't know Elliott.
- 33:34Speaker 2: First of all, kickers, you know, can if they're good,
- 33:37Speaker 2: they can potentially play forever. Yeah, you know how many
- 33:40Speaker 2: kick you know, guys like Morton Anderson and people like
- 33:42Speaker 2: that feel like they were in the league for twenty years.
- 33:44Speaker 1: And Justin Tucker still here.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Justin Tucker is still there exactly. So like, yeah, I
- 33:50Speaker 2: don't think it's an age thing. I just think you know,
- 33:52Speaker 2: every now and again a kicker maybe more more so
- 33:55Speaker 2: prone to it than people at other positions. You can
- 33:59Speaker 2: just have it off here. I think Jake Elliott might
- 34:01Speaker 2: be having one of them. Yeah, you know, it's not
- 34:04Speaker 2: the not the ideal time for it, you know, in
- 34:06Speaker 2: the of a Super Bowl push, but you know it
- 34:09Speaker 2: could be happening. Ye, So yeah, I mean that, you know,
- 34:12Speaker 2: he had the leg on that on that field goal
- 34:14Speaker 2: attempt that just kind of sailed wide. So he's got
- 34:17Speaker 2: to figure that out. That that wasn't good to say.
- 34:20Speaker 2: You know, I thought towards the end of the game,
- 34:22Speaker 2: they you know, they had the chance to really pin
- 34:25Speaker 2: Washington down deep at the three yard line. Looked like
- 34:28Speaker 2: they had kept the ball from going in. But Khille Ringo,
- 34:32Speaker 2: I guess it's stepped on the line before he touched
- 34:34Speaker 2: the ball and that kind of clause. I mean, that's tough.
- 34:37Speaker 2: That's a tough play. I mean it's hard to do.
- 34:40Speaker 2: So it's I don't know, kind of hard to ding
- 34:42Speaker 2: him there. But I thought it was okay. I mean,
- 34:45Speaker 2: there were glaring mistakes. The mistakes that were there were glaring.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Everything else was I thought relatively solid. I'll go be
- 34:52Speaker 2: minus B minus.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Okay. Look, I forgot to mention this. You know, we
- 34:56Speaker 1: gave our grades already. My grade wouldn't change either. But
- 34:59Speaker 1: according to Tim McManus, the Eagles of the first team
- 35:02Speaker 1: this century to recover multiple opponent fumbles on kick returns
- 35:07Speaker 1: in a single postseason. They also did it against the
- 35:10Speaker 1: Packers and they had two in the first half in
- 35:12Speaker 1: this game, eight total in the playoffs. So Eagles special
- 35:16Speaker 1: teams are are doing pretty good in terms of fumble
- 35:19Speaker 1: fumbles and fumble recoveries on kick returns here in the postseason.
- 35:24Speaker 1: So just wanted to throw that out there. Let's move
- 35:26Speaker 1: to defense here, Lenn creating Vic Fangio and his coaching.
- 35:31Speaker 1: There were times when I saw a little bit too
- 35:33Speaker 1: much prevent and defense, and it was certainly before the half,
- 35:36Speaker 1: and I was getting a little frustrated. But I think
- 35:39Speaker 1: from an overall perspective, with everything we've talked about, from
- 35:42Speaker 1: the D line to the linebackers and secondary, Vic Fangio
- 35:45Speaker 1: definitely deserves a straight up A for his coaching in
- 35:48Speaker 1: this game, as he usually does week by week. I
- 35:51Speaker 1: think in a is fair. What do you think? What's
- 35:53Speaker 1: your grade?
- 35:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it was kind of the whole bend, but don't
- 35:57Speaker 2: break thing going on there. You know they Washington was
- 36:01Speaker 2: able to move the ball there, but you know they
- 36:02Speaker 2: only gave up twenty three points. That's not a bad
- 36:04Speaker 2: total by any stretch of the imagination and like I said,
- 36:07Speaker 2: when they needed a turnover, they got it. So I
- 36:11Speaker 2: mean that to me kind of overrules any yardage that
- 36:16Speaker 2: Washington may have got or points or anything like that.
- 36:19Speaker 2: When you had to have it, you got it. I'll
- 36:21Speaker 2: go a they I thought they played a good game, all.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Right, Let's move to Kellen Moore and Nick Sirianni and
- 36:27Speaker 1: the offensive coaching. This is kind of tough for me
- 36:31Speaker 1: here because and I say tough because I don't know
- 36:36Speaker 1: it's going to be in the A category. I don't
- 36:39Speaker 1: necessarily know if it's going to be an A or
- 36:41Speaker 1: an A plus. And I say that because there were
- 36:44Speaker 1: a couple series that we saw and I know, maybe
- 36:46Speaker 1: I'm nitpicking here, and it probably shouldn't be nitpicking as
- 36:49Speaker 1: this team is heading to the Super Bowl, But there
- 36:51Speaker 1: were a few series when I'm like, why is the
- 36:53Speaker 1: play calling what it is? Right now? They have a
- 36:56Speaker 1: lead and they're passing the ball, where we know that
- 36:59Speaker 1: there have been challenges in the passing game, and perhaps
- 37:02Speaker 1: they're trying to get passing game going, because we did
- 37:04Speaker 1: see some good stuff in the passing game, especially during
- 37:06Speaker 1: the second half. There were times that I was like, man,
- 37:08Speaker 1: they need to be running the ball. They need to
- 37:10Speaker 1: be running Saquon here, and they're passing the ball and
- 37:14Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts is taking sacks or he's throwing the ball away.
- 37:17Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna go a I think I'm gonna
- 37:19Speaker 1: go straight up a like I did with Vic Fangio
- 37:22Speaker 1: for the offensive coaching. What are you gonna give him, buddy?
- 37:26Speaker 2: Fifty five points? Fifty five?
- 37:31Speaker 1: Maybe I'm being a little too eight plus.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Yes, okay, points in the game A plus.
- 37:40Speaker 1: You convinced me it is a plus. What am I doing?
- 37:43Speaker 1: I'm being nitpicky.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm listening to this and going and I listen
- 37:50Speaker 2: to your whole thing, and just the number fifty five
- 37:54Speaker 2: is going off in bright red Neon numbers in my
- 37:58Speaker 2: head as you're as you're saying that whole thing, You're
- 38:01Speaker 2: absolutely right.
- 38:03Speaker 1: What the hell am I talking about? It's an A plus.
- 38:06Speaker 1: It's not even a question. And what am I doing?
- 38:09Speaker 1: I don't know, Oh God, letting their head in the
- 38:13Speaker 1: Super Bowl, man, They are heading to the supercar.
- 38:15Speaker 2: And it's kind of funny because to me, and I'm
- 38:21Speaker 2: curious to your thoughts on it. Depending on the outcome
- 38:25Speaker 2: of this game, they're either going to be America's biggest
- 38:28Speaker 2: villain or America's last hope, because nobody, I think wants
- 38:33Speaker 2: to see the Chiefs win again. But if it's Buffalo
- 38:35Speaker 2: and Philly, literally, if they were playing anybody else but
- 38:39Speaker 2: the Eagles, I would be rooting for the Bills in
- 38:42Speaker 2: the Super Bowl. So and and if you know anything
- 38:46Speaker 2: about sports, and you know Buffalo, and they only have
- 38:48Speaker 2: two teams and they've never won anything, they're going to
- 38:53Speaker 2: be the emotional favorite. Yes, so it is. It's a
- 38:57Speaker 2: funny swing, like there's on the outcome of this game.
- 39:00Speaker 2: There is no middle ground, no no. People are either
- 39:04Speaker 2: gonna be begging for them to win or begging for
- 39:06Speaker 2: them to lose.
- 39:08Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting, gonna be fun. Buddy, Do you
- 39:11Speaker 1: have anything else before we head out and conclude our
- 39:13Speaker 1: postgame show here?
