- Adam Rutz: You don't just spend money, you spend time. And there's a major difference between spending your time and investing your time. Every week you get 168 hours. You can't save those hours. You can't carry those hours into next week. And once an hour's gone, you never get it back. So the question becomes where are your hours actually going? Spending time gives you something right now immediately, like scrolling on your phone. Watching another episode on Netflix, getting caught up in distractions that feel good in the moment, but don't actually move your life forward. Investing time is different. Investing time means you're using today to create something for tomorrow. Like the workout, that's an investment in your health. Extra preparation, that's an investment in your confidence. Studying your craft, that's an investment in your future performance. Getting eight hours of sleep at night, that can be an investment in how you execute tomorrow. And here's where I want you to be honest with yourself. Look at what you say you want, then look at where your time actually goes. Do those two things match? Because your calendar and your screen time report might tell you more about your priorities than your goals ever will. You don't have to make every minute of every day productive. Rest matters. Recovery obviously matters. Time with people you love matters. But you should know the difference between intentional recovery and mindless distraction. So today, look at your 168 hours and ask yourself, what am I spending time on that I need to eliminate? And more importantly, where can I start investing that time instead? Because the life you want is going to require an investment. And one of the most valuable things you'll ever invest in is your time. Mindset, process, discipline, execution, that's mental performance daily.
